Veg breyani is really yummy Such a must on a fasting day!

Great tasting curry at great prices. Excellent service too. Recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh for a delicious option. Medium is rather spicy but really tasty so I recommend it
Simon Curtis
Great curry restaurant with friendly staff. Never a long wait to get food and always great value and one of the cheaper Indian restaurant I was the Fourways area.
Hala Hany
Nice food and atmosphere with reasonable prices and it is my first time Indian restaurant gave me the mild spicy as I ordered.
Divesh Junak
Best India restaurant. Different but very tasty. Must try!
Aradhna Jugath
Classic India never disappoints. I enjoy their food a lot. I'm trying to convince the managers to bring the sizzlers branch to Fourways as well. Anyone that has eaten at the branch in Boksburg will be able to vouch for the amazing yumminess that are the sizzlers platters 😁. Please management, at least try it out with our community here. The only thing missing on the menu for me is soji and kheer 😍 Otherwise, a restaurant not to overlook.

Well priced Indian restaurant in Fourways. Food is well prepared and portions are generous. Excellent staff too. We will definitely return!

Hats off for the welcome and quick table preparation for guests, plus a snack of jeera poppadoms with chutneys complimentary, a lovely gesture. The Pani Puri was disappointing bland despite asking for hot, was distinctively without flavour. However the Chilli, Cheese Naans were made on special request, my Bengali Fish Curry was tasty, a tad sweet, the Dal Makani was good. Will return, attentive service, could have upsold on drinks...

I order from you guys at least 3 to 4 times a month ... My past 3 orders have been like this.. curry spilled everywhere and containers smashed together.. You use to wrap the containers in cling wrap, but now you seem not to care at all ..after this continuous issue, I'll never be supporting you guys again. Update: thank you for going back to wrapping the orders, received my food in perfect condition
Margo van Rooyen
Absolutely amazing!! Best Indian in the area. Been there many times and never been disappointed. Authentic flavours, generous portions, well priced - what more could a curry lover need?!?! Cannot recommend enough. Thank you for your delicious food :)
Devilliers Cooks
The food was well cooked. The lamb malai korma was tender and prawn briyani was very tasty. Price to quality ratio is unmatched.
Daniella Goncalves
I have never really chosen Indian food but thia restaurant and their incredible food makes me crave Indian all the time. Their Rogni Naan and Butter Chicken are my weakness.
Deanne Van Rensburg
Been going here for years - the absolute best Indian food. 10/10, would recommend

I tried the Classic India for the first time this weekend and was blown away! The best Paneer Makhani I've had as well as the greatest Punjabi Samoosas. The chili bites were not the normal chili bites I'm use to but still had amazing flavour. My new fav little Indian spot! I ordered through Mr D and when the food arrived it was still ridiculously hot which was great for a cold weekend! This will definitely be my weekly treat!

Just received a delivery.. as you can see from the pictures the food was all over the place due to the way the pack the bags.. called the restaurant and was told it was not their fault.. I tried to explain the problem, but the manager did not care... the food was also not up to standard.. chicken was dry the nana breads not cooked probably.
Arvind Seetohul
I ordered 2 dishes and naans via Mr. Delivery. The paneer makhni I ordered was off. Called Mr. D, they said they cant help. Spoke to the restaurant, they said they don't care. You've lost a regular customer. A absolute stay away.
Dharsteel
Thank you for an absolutely horrible experience. After bringing back the food to complain, the chefs tried to fix the same dish, which I said I don't want. The food was not palatable, and I did throw it away. Anyway I will never go back and none of my employees and associates will either. Not that it will make any difference to them. All I can say that I just spoilt my whole evening thanks to this.

In the mood for some indian food and was on the look out for a new joint. The classic indian fourways popped up and thought why not.

We ordered chicken tikka, butter chicken, butter naan and a plain paratha. The paratha was awesone, it was light not oily at all and the layers just torn apart as it should, the naan was done to perfection and was fresh and chewy.

But the best was to come, the portion size is really generous, with enough chicken and sauce tk easily feed 2 people, the sauce perfect to be soaked up by the accompanied rice.

What an awesome establishment, keep it up

I attended a Sunday Birthday lunch here. First time I'd heard of 'The Classic India' but nice variety of vegetarian food curry. There were also some vegan dishes. Food was tasty and prices were as expected.

This place is good to have some authentic Indian food..but somehow the taste keeps changing with time..so the signature dishes keep changing..and you cannot have a feeling that what you ate last time will be of the same taste this time....
Praneal Singh
Very low energy here. The waitress wasn't welcoming at all. Hardly had any customers at the time. I ordered a Lamb Jalfrezi which is usually a favorite dish of mine. What I got was far from the usual accepted concept of that dish in terms of indian cuisine. Unfortunately enthusiasm or good indian food doesn't particularly exist here just yet. Gordon Ramsay would throw the plate out sorry... the samoosas were decent though.
Motjatji Sebola
Popped in for a takeaway. The simple and clean deco is great. The fact that it's also quiet makes it a great spot for meeting or a date. The food was okay, ordered the butter chicken and it was very bland.
Keshia PIllay
The service was extremely slow and the waiters had bad body odor. We all ordered our food at the same time. It took over an hour for our main meals to arrive. The other half of the tables food arrive 30 mins later. The samosas were extremely oily and tasteless. It was my first and last time. I really don’t recommend it to anyone.
Daniella Lucy Selesnick
Most incredible service and the nicest Butter Chicken I’ve had in a very long time. My family couldn’t stop raving about the Lamb Curry. Will definitely be back!

More people need to know about this restaurant!!! Amazing food, amazing service and all round an amazing experience! Instantly became mine and my husband's favourite place to date! ❤

This underrated gem is absolutely worth going to, they're food is incredible and they take great care of their customers and they are most definitely worth the effort to go and see. This place is romantic and definitely worth a look.

I've been in search of the best curries in Fourways and I think I've found them at The Classic India. The food was glorious. Fully flavoured with exotic spices and we'll presented and portioned, not to mention well priced. Food was quick, we were served by Charity who was fantastic! Thank you The Classic India!!
Cailyn Stevens
Okay let me just start off with WOW!
I am a curry fanatic and have a love for Spicy food. This place just does it right.
From the flavor, to the portion size and to the freshness - it's all just too good to be true. I always have ordered a take away Extra hot Chicken Vindaloo and it's exceptional. Right amount of spices and mouth watering flavor. I can just imagine how wonderful it must be to sit down, eat and experience the atmosphere of the actual restaurant but sitting in front of my tv indulging this curry , I have nothing to complain about. 👌🏽
Well done to the Chef, you have a very happy loyal customer. 😄
My only problem is when it's delivered. The delivery man never has the card machine or cash and always has to go back and fetch it or the cash, which takes me away from blocking out the world for the night to eat my curry in peace because I know I'll be called in a few minutes because he's waiting at the door.
But other than that, i'm always super happy with my meal. Definitely should give it a try if you're just as crazy of a curry fan as me!😜
Tania
What can I say about the food that would do it justice ...... all I can say is that it was simply delicious. Nice ambience great service and two phenomenal dishes . We had the Chicken Karai and Korma. Yummy 😋 and the cheese naan takes me back to the restaurants I was privileged to eat at in Mumbai . Best I have tasted in SA 🙂
Kerry Garden
This is definitely my favorite curry place. Their butter chicken melts in your mouth and the naan breads are delicious.
They also deliver orders quick 👍🏻
Leverne Mountany
Our local curry palace! Great Indian cuisine. Wonderful that they deliver now as well. Amazing variety in menu with scrumptious vegetarian options.
Milan Dutta
Very poor food quality. Ordered non veg platter. Meat quality is not good. Scrimp preparation is bad. Ordered Rumali Roti, then saw a cold roti in a foil. Absolutely ridiculous. Way way behind compared to the other Indian restaurants.

Dinner @ The Classic India -
I have mixed feelings about classic India .
We had the chicken starter no clue what it was called but I did enjoy it the flavors were good and it was nice and tender .

For mains my friend had the Lamb vindaloo and I had chicken and Prawn curry .
The spices in the chicken and Prawn curry were slightly overwhelming and took out the flavor , so it wasn't so great for me I battled to eat it.
As much as the vindaloo was hot ! It someone had better flavors and tasted better than the chicken and Prawn curry .

Can't fault them on service and ambiance for an Indian restaurant everything was it should be and we got our food quite quick .
I was just not pleased with the the curry I had , perhaps I will try something else next time ....

The rice was was also not good for me it tasted and looked like the traditional tastic instead of a fluffy basmati that I am used to when having curry .

My friend had Kulfi for desserts? he seemed to enjoy it .

I wouldn't write it off , I will probably give their chicken tikka masala or butter chicken a try !

Made a reservation, thinking it was going to be packed but it was completely empty. This is definitely one of my favourite Indian places. Had the paneer makhani and malai kofta. It was delicious. I wish I could eat here everyday. I love the variety. Whatever you order you won't go wrong.
Jimmy Pahwa
Worst Indian food restaurant in Sandton area. These guys doesn't shy away from serving spoiled food. If you love your body, avoid this one...
Diederik Van 't Hof
At last an Indian Restaurant not afraid to serve hot curry. Too many places see you, and assume you can't handle the curry - not here. Ordered hot - got hot! Decided to sample the one item on the menu with the label - "A must try". Could not resist so took on the "Lamb Hyderabadi". Very nicely presented, fantastic aromas and a good taste. Good thick sauce, and hot enough to produce the sweats. Not completely convinced it was not just added spices, rather than properly cooked curry - but was nonetheless a really good meal. Good flavors, and not just a mouth burning sensation. The service was attentive - drinks replaced without even asking.

Definitely a place to return - and this time to savor a full dining experience, rather than a quick lunch stop.
Nicole
Have been here many times for eat in and take away. Last week Tuesday we had a power failure SO elected to get takeaways. Was beyond disappointed. The ride in the children's butter chicken mild dish smelt like ammonia ? Eeeu and didn't taste nice at all. The chopped cucumber and carrot tubs served with take aways were slimy and also had a horrid sour smell. My chicken chicken chamiyala recommended to me was pretty bland and the chicken tasted like it was about to turn or borderline off!! I was too nervous to eat it. The romali rotti was so dry and full of flour. Needless to say beyond disappointed. Not one thing was good you can forgive something not being entirely great but the entire meal was inferior quality.
N Dee
This restaurant could do so much better but it's poorly run. The place is not clean - worn out table cloths, dated uniforms for the staff and today, non working toilets.
Ashutosh Srivastava
Overrated food, Chicken Biryani was pathetic, whatsapped the guys and communication was in south africa people eat this type of Biryani.then how come its a Authuntic orth Indian Restaurant. will not recommend
KylieJDV
Its taken me a few years to try this place. Honestly no idea why I haven't but all I can say is YUM YUM YUM! Had the lamb Corma and it was delish and so well priced too. Waiters were friendly and not too invasive which I like. Its nice to enjoy your evening and have your wine glass topped up without you even noticing. Made for a well enjoyed evening out
Eve
Always a good meal here. Their menu is extensive with old favourites and new items. I've been going here for years and hv never had a bad meal. It's 1 of my favourites.

Only once there was a table of about 20 who sat there and mocked accents and Indian culture and then encouraged their kids to also join in. It was highly disrespectful and ignorant sitting there and basically spitting on the owners faces.
Marc Carlton-smith
Fantastic curry outlet for either dining in or takeaway.

The food is wholesome and tasty, the staff are attentive and always make you feel welcome.

If you are not sure or want to try a new restuarant, I highly recommend this one!
Lebo Marape
Popped in for lunch whilst in the area. Had the mild lamb kashmiri, which was a bore, no flavour with very little heat. The restaurant was quite which I loved and the staff was friendly. Might try a different franchise before completely writing them off
Danny R
Tried this restaurant shortly after our Raj debacle. Honestly, we were expecting a pricey menu with the possibly of above average food. The restaurant is comfortable and waiters are polite and attentive.
The food was really good, so far it is the best Indian cuisine we have had in South Africa. The cost is less than raj express somehow. We will return without a doubt.
Makgalake
My go to joint for curry in my hood. Their curries are always tasty and their butter naan has to be my favorite. I usually get take out here but the one time I didn't the service was ok.
Amit Govind
A typical North Indian casual dining or take away restaurant with a good vegetarian selection on their menu.
It's a better option than Banjaaras for a mid week meal as the sauces are far more spicier and the consistency not too thick. Makes for a great curry on a cold winters day. Caution on the hot option as its extremely chilli hot!! Rather go for a medium if you enjoy a nice spicy meal but nevertheless very tasty.

Normally go for vegetarian options as the Kabuli Chana masala (chickpeas cooked in Punjabi style with onion and tomato gravy) is a simple dish but made to resemble a home cooked meal, enjoyed with a romali roti and some rice.

You probably won't go wrong with Classic India if you choose to sit or take away as menu prices are comparable to others in the area.
Nadine Franks
Worst dining experience ever..
Took over half an hour to get our meal and people who came after me received their meals first. Seems like they basically forgot about us. The bunny chow was super soggy and definitely not worth the wait! Euw!
Michelle Robin
We love Indian food and we find it quite difficult to find delicious Indian at reasonable prices. Well no look further. Their food is delicious, definitely one of the best in the area (sit down and takeaway) and when you sit down the service is really good! The prices are really good, definitely value for money.
Sashin Naidoo
In the past I've had a good experience, the food was great and the service was good. Recently went back there to enjoy an authentic Indian meal and the food lacked a lot of flavour, the waitress who served our table didn't check on us and neither did the manager. It felt as though I was sitting at a dinner table at my house where we are and left...
Thiren Naidoo
Classic India is a decent Indian restaurant. The food is of a good standard, and consistently delivers an enjoyable dining experience. The 'heat' levels can be adjusted for most dishes, which is useful if you avoid hot foods, or if you have kids. Even the traditional Indian puddings are really good. Try the Halwa - you will be amazed!
Chere Garcia
I love that they deliver. The service on the phone was good. Presentation of my home delivery could be improved. At first I thought the quantity that you get for a R80/R90 meal is a bit small but I was full to the point of stuffing myself. You do taste a range of spices and flavours that a woolworths butter or korma chicken may not have but I'm not sure its neccesarily worth it. The Lamb korma was quite sweet, which I wasn't crazy about but the naan bread was very nice. The dish which was meant to be mild was much hotter than the one we ordered hot. All said, not bad, not the best I've ever had either.
Dean Langkilde
Popped into Classic India for some curry the other day.
All meals ordered were very good.
The butter chicken is delicious and they make a mean lamb bunny!
Will definitely be back.
Small cosy restaurant. Not the most posh but its clean and neat. Service was good. Ate here for the first time today. My visit was based on the good reviews i have seen on zomato. Food was great and affordable. Had the butter chicken which comes with rice and had the plain naan. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. Will be back!

And 3rd visit later... same consistent delicious food, great service and well priced. I'll be back soon!

First off, I want to apologise for writing a negative review, but I feel compelled given that sites like Zomato depend on the input of both the good and the bad. I should also note that some years ago I had a good meal here. But last night was just not ok for a place with a 4 point rating.

The beginning: the tablecloth was stained / dirty. The table was not set. There were paper serviettes on the table. The candle / light was unlit. When the waiter finally noticed that we were ready to order (he really liked the tv), he didn't know about the food and could only regurgitate what we had already read on the menu.

Then came the food. My dish was the Vegetable Makhani which sounded delicious. In reality, it tasted like either frozen or canned mixed vegetables cooked in a sauce that had (a lot of) sugar added to it. I would rate this dish at about 2.5.

My companion had the Prawn Madraswala which also sounded great. This dish was not half as bad as the vegetable one ... In fact, it tasted pretty good, but nothing memorable and alas nothing that deserves a rating of 4.

We are both food lovers and casual chefs and rely on Zomato's excellent rating service to guide us to places that can, at the very least, match our own ability to cook and produce food.

It should also be noted that it is possible that the meat dishes are better ...

Based on last night though, Classic India at Cedar Square does not deserve a rating of 4.

Classic India: I apologise again for the review, but fresh ingredients and trained staff are a must for restaurants that want this kind of rating. Peace and good luck.

Always wanted to try this place and finally decided to go.

The food was really good and had that authentic Indian taste, we had a lamb korma and prawn Korea for variation. Both meals were great, the meat and prawn cooked just right (lucky we chose the medium option - had we gone hit we'd probably wouldn't have been enjoyed it as much, not a hot fan)

The ambience was just right and our waitress was professional and attentive.

Was an overall good dining experience.
Rhonda Hamilton
We regularly eat at 'The Classic India' - it is a family favourite. The food has never disappointed and the service has always been friendly, prompt and exceptional. With an extensive menu and charming atmosphere, we love returning on a regular basis to try new dishes and old favourites. S highly recommends the 'hot' lamb rogan josh and I love the chef special 'Sham Saveera'
Sydney King
The food here is consistently tasty ! The butter chicken is superb. The Classic India offers such reasonable prices, making this spot difficult to resist when the curry calling kicks in! The staff and management are also lovely. Highly recommended.
Leon Van Zyl
Lunch was great, the service is very good, their version of mild curry is almost sweet and had a very nice chocolate ice cream but missed the cherry shown on the menu. 😄
The only thing that was a bit offsetting for me was the table clothes was quite in desperate need of a wash!
Heather Hook
Oddly enough have always walked past and not eaten here - was impressed with the prices and the service was prompt. My dhal makhani was delicious and my dining partner enjoyed his lamb jalfrezi immensely. Affordable and tasty - we will definitely be visiting again soon.
Ishana Singh
The food was good & reasonably priced. The service was at an acceptable level.
What I did like about it was the clean crisp linen on the table, the soft lighting & amazing veg starter platter.
Thavashni Reddy
A firm favorite with my family, usually never disappoints. Unfortunately today is the exception. However I won't rate them harshly as I know their standards are usually good. The food was good, the usual north Indian fare, however they cook the meats to perfection and the flavor is great. We love the Hydrabadi and jalfrezi curries. My kids love the tandoori chicken and paneer makhni.
Toby Williams
My firm takeaway favourite. They also deliver which ticks more than one box. Chamiyala chicken to be highly recommended and I have to say for someone who likes a hit curry they know how to make it with just dropping extra chilli in. Give it a try .
NommieNoms
This modest restaurant is somewhat of a hidden gem. The food is well priced, the mark up on the wine is not ridiculous like in most restaurants and the food is actually great. The service was a bit slow but hey we can work with that.
FoodLover
A nice North-Indian restaurant with a wide variety of dishes on their menu. The prices and the service was good. I did feel, however, that you are under the imoression that there is meat in your bowl, just to find out it is actually a potato. Worth a try, but not close as good as Red Chilli Spice.
Mark
This place was great 12 months ago but then as they got more popular they started watering down the sauces and the food quality slipped. The service was never good.
Keets_eats
Classic India is as the name suggests - classic India.

The hosts/ managers are extremely friendly and hospitable creating a pleasant atmosphere from the moment you enter the doors.

The food is very reasonably priced for the quality of food delivered.

As someone who enjoys Indian food without the heat, it is always a challenge to find a restaurant who can make a MILD curry without the meal becoming completely bland - Classic India does this brilliantly.

Overall this is a fabulous restaurant that I frequent.
Sethumncube
I thought that the food was not particularly amazing. It was typical indian food but i did appreciate the wide variety of Naan bread that was on the menu.
Graham Parkinson
Indian food, mmmmm, that comfort food of warmth and amazing flavor, last night i went to thos place for dinner with my fiancée, we where looking for something warm and welcoming and easy going, well we found it, thr food was amazing we had samosas fpr starters and then butter chicken and paneer korma, it was amazing. This will now be our new go to place for Indian in fourways.
Cheryl Gilfillan Dinkelmann
If Zomato would allow a one word review I would just say it like it is. Perfect! Warm hospitality. Fabulous food, always top quality. I keep coming back for more.
Cassandra Pireu
Lovely place, exactly what you want and expect from an Indian restaurant.
The menu is extensive and has Northern and Southern Indian dishes. While I love Indian food it's usually too hot for me. My boyfriend on the other hand seems to have burnt off his taste-buds and nothing is hot enough. What's great about Classic India is they cater for everyone and whatever type of curry you like at whatever heat intensity you will not be disappointed.
Staff are always very friendly and the quality of food and ambiance has yet to disappoint me.
Mandy Elliott
It's just a pity that he service is lack lustre as well as the management of the place. Food is always great though. Even my 9 year old daughter is a huge fan of the korma.
Linchwe Joshua Linchwe
Well I was very disappointed in the service as it was VERY slow and the waiter wasn't responsive. Oh and never ever try the Non Veg Platter you will be HIGHLY disappointed.
Never coming here again!
Nicola Conradie
Wow... Firstly after being shown to the table by a grumpy manager, then being told that I sat in the wrong chair (not jokingly so). Secondly after asking if we can change tables the other manager said -with quite the snobbish attitude- that we were lucky we even made a booking. The food was average and service was ok. No music was played the entire evening so we were able to hear everyone else's conversations.

Between the grumpy managers that looked like they would rather be anywhere else or serve the Indian families before you; and the blatant fact that they did not want us there, I will not go there ever again.

You don't treat anyone like that. Ever!
Julia Kaleta
Even though the restaurant itself is not that interesting, the curry is incredible and the service very friendly! We had the chicken korma and chicken tikka masala, complemented with the garlic naan. Absolutely melt in your mouth food, a definite go to for the next time I want Indian
Melissa Eva
My favourite restaurant. Service is usually good, floor managers always in sight and the lamb jalfrezi is my best! Never disappointed me yet.
Neelaм
Still one of my favorite Indian restaurants. Usually order the paneer makani or paneer tikka masala, both are always great. Recently tried the Korma Kofta and thoroughly enjoyed it. They also have the best kulfi I've tasted in Jhb and are very reasonably priced compared to most Indian restaurants. Definitely worth a try!
Leeneshen Govender
Solid spot for curry. Every dish has its own identity. Even went the extra mile when i was fasting with no meat no dairy no flour.
A consistently good place to grab a curry. And not over priced.
SimonThePieMan
Exceptional curry spot, You have try the Lamb Chamiyala it is out of this world. Decor is not too bad, but this is not a fancy spot or meant to be.
Cory
I love spicy Indian food. This restaurant is not far from my home and Is one of my regular favourites. The food is great but, over the last six months or so there has been a slight decline in the food quality. It's almost as if the chef was changed or maybe a decision to economise. Service is always friendly and snappy, since they have their liquor license, the wine list is comprehensive enough but it will be a good idea to have some of the Indian beers on the list.
Richard Riche
Our favourite Indian restaurant in the North. The chicken and vegetarian dishes are stunning. They were fantastic catering for my birthday. Everyone had a great time. Friendly service and delicious food.
Craig Webb
Staff are not the happiest people I've ever met but the food is amazing. Mild option is available for people who do not like 'hot' food. Butter chicken!
Tassa
Great food and good service - definitely the favorite curry spot in the area. Have been there twice and was impressed both times. Prices are also reasonable
PJ Prinsloo
Service is average. But the food is great and prices are very reasonable. They have a good wine list, which is also priced well. You can order very hot, but the curry still has great flavor. Great selection of naan bread.
St. John Leech
The best chicken korma by far at a reasonable price!!! When you there try a bombay crush and ask to have them substitute the raspberry with bubblegum.....awesome desert or milkshake!
Danielle Guard Collier
One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in a while!
Nova
We had heard great things about the classic India and wanted to try it out for sometime now. We had an excellent meal recommended by one of the managers. The one dish we had not tried before and enjoyed experiencing something new. There is a huge variety which you may not find at other Indian cuisine. Menu is huge! Go there hungry for sure. Service was also very good and very, very well priced!
Chris Hartman
While initially I was disappointed that all the menu had on offer was Indian food, once I was able to get past this I had a great evening.

The butter chicken is highly recommended and goes well with a good bottle of red, especially on a warm summer evening.

Good spot to grab a take away from as well.
Bradley Huppe
i have been going to The Classic India in Fourways (Cedar) for over a year and have never been disappointed with my meal, i highly rate this establishment and wont get my curry anywhere else. The food is amazing....
LoveFood! Blog
I went to The Classic Indian last night as a friend of mine swears that their curries are some of the best. Wow, was she right, I had the lamb Korma and it was delicious. The sauce was creamy and so yum (luckily I didn't finish it all so had some tasty lunch). The service was good and the waiters friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
The disappointing thing was ordering starters of samoosa's and they arrived after we were half way through our mains. However, they were delicious and worth the wait!
Nishal Rattan
One of the best Indian restaurants in Johannesburg. Exquisite authentic food with great flavour
DJCC
A Friday night, just dropped my sister at the airport... Dad and I alone for the weekend... We want Prawns!!!

Try finding some place that is not going to make us wait an hour before seating us, was no simple task... And in the back of my head I remember Classic India, that restaurant in Cedar Square that does not get that much attention as it is placed right behind the new Kong and across from the all busy Yamazaki.
I must admit I have heard mixed reviews some say best Indian food in Johannesburg, others say service poor will never go back.

My thoughts...
We got a prawn starter, to share that was marinated in the most Devine sauce with a bite, the prawns cooked perfect.
Our mains I had the chef speciality prawn curry, in a mild curry and WOW!!! It was delicious, the curry was huge there were enough prawns, not at all spot the prawn and win... It was a full bodied meal and the heat was just right, I may even try Medium next time. My dad also had a prawn curry and it was a little hotter than mine as he did order hot, but it was still amazing, and of course we couldn't finish it so we had lunch for the next days :)

The wine pricing is also extremely reasonable and they serve good wine, the service was good and our waiter very friendly, the manager also came and made sure everything was alright, which is always a nice touch.

Classic India exceeded my expectations.... And I got my prawns... :)

All in all I left tummy full and very happy.

Compared to the awesome Boksburg branch. The food here us average. Average enough that I'll drive the extra 25kms to Boksburg to go to that branch. A pity really
Jacqueline Lues
My husband and I often pass The Classic Indian in Cedar Square and commented that we must make a stop at this elegant restaurant. After a movie one night we decided to get takeaways from them. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was prepared very promptly – a big plus: fast take-aways that don’t sacrifice the quality of the meal. My medium paneer korma had a delicious flavour. My only complaint was that the sauce had a gelatinous texture. The butter naan was very good, and the dishes come with a small side of potato and a carrot and cucumber salad. The pricing was reasonable and I can recommend The Classic Indian for a hearty and prompt takeaway dinner(we still owe them a visit!).

With both indoor and outdoor sitting available in the area...This restaurant gives u a relief when you are an Indian roaming around in Johannesburg, craving for Indian food....From naans to daal...Paneer to veg peshawari....Everything you crave, you will definitely find it in here...The food is normal...Not too tasty...not too disappointing...They could improve upon the quality of food....

The staff is polite and nice...The service is good...Ambiance wise, i prefer sitting in the Inside area rather than the outside...It gives you a more cosy and intimate feel...

For more such Reviews, check out my blog http://genesrecoded.blogspot.in/

Went to the Cedar Square mall late on a Thursday night, hoping to catch the Champions League game of Madrid vs Galatasaray. Although the mall boasts of huge restaurants such as Co.fi and Cubana, which are open till late, we were merely intrigued by this Indian restaurant on the Upper Level because it was bustling with activity and we decided to give it a shot.

Sitting inside the smoking section which was empty and with a large LCD screen, we ordered a Pahari Chicken and Paneer Tikka for starters along with a couple of beers. The Pahari Chicken was almost perfect, the melt-in-your-mouth chicken tasted heavenly, but the Paneer Tikka could do with some improvement.

For the main course we ordered Chicken Do Pyaza (Hot) and Dhal Makhani (Hot - which turned out to be a mistake) and Butter Naan and Laccha Paratha. The chicken tasted ordinary, nothing great, but the Dhal Makhani was brilliant, although we should have gone with a 'mild' option rather than the 'hot' one as the extra spice killed the natural taste of the Dhal. The Laccha Paratha was very well done, a must-try for everyone.

To sum it up, it was a great evening with Madrid crushing Galatasaray 3-0 (not so much for my friend who is a Drogba fan), coupled along with some great Indian food.
