Place for authentic Mediterranean food lovers. Situated very conveniently in the famous Monte Casino, this place is a heaven for Greek food lovers.
They have decent selection of wine and cocktails to begin with. Follow it up with the traditional pita breads, falafel, Haloumi, Grilled Calamari. We went for the Pita bred with hummus combo - which is the best one. The have a large selection of Salads as well for the health freaks :).
For the main course, do try the Lamb Ribs and pork chops. Of course, you can also go for the Mezze. The selection is huge and lot of varieties to choose from. Lovely ambiance and service completes a great experience.

The pickled baby octopus was awesome.
Rose had the mixed grill which had a good sampling of a few Greek dishes, and with a really good salad. I had the Kleftiko, which was ok. I did not enjoy the gravy which tasted like it came out of a can.
No Greek beers were available as usual 🙁, but the Leffe was a good substitute and the mint and watermelon G&T was really good.
The desserts of baklava cheese cake and baklava were excellent.
This place has a good selection of wines and drinks. You can try the deserts on the menu. The medium T bone steak served was absolutely amazing.
Good wine list with plenty of by the glass options. The food is really delicious. The Moussaka is so hearty and just so good. The only let down was at the end when it took ages to get our bill. We were 19 ladies going to a show so our time was limited. We did ask for the bill 20 minutes before we had to leave and it took about 30 minutes for our waiter to bring it. You will get more guests going to shows after dinner in the future so I suggest you fine a quicker solution for big tables when it comes to the bill. I’m just so glad the Monte now actually has a few really good restaurant options!
Food is good and on par with others in this franchise. I was though pleasantly surprised by the staff who went out of their way to make our anniversary dinner special.

Gud looking venue, good variety on the menu. The service was gud. The dip platter was really tasty. The lamb chops was bland, needed seasoning. The calamari was tender and tasty.
We have created a new tradition in going to Mythos at Montecasino whenever we go to a show and we are never disappointed.
The service here is always impeccable with friendly, welcoming and attentive staff members. Our waitrons are always top notch and appear happy to be at work.
The food is magnificent every time. We usually order the lamb and chicken Souvlakia and the Chicken Yiro and always enjoy the meal! Their drinks menu is also brilliant and the cocktails are made so very well.
I highly recommend Mythos to all those that love Greek food and are looking for a great dining experience.
The prawn lunch special was great value for money. 12 M prawns with chips or rice and a a glass of wine for R99.
The service was great and although the restaurant was full because of year end functions but this didn’t impact the service at all.
I can’t remember what the wine was called. I had the rose and it was just okay. Not excellent or terrible just okay, which is expected given all that you receive for R99.
Once again, great value for money.

If you are looking for an authentic greek restaurant than I will highly recommend Mythos.They can turn any ordinary dinning experience to something extraordinary with their good food and amazing service.
To name a few we ordered calamari, livers, king klip fish, prawns , lamb, salmon, pasta, lamp chops and shellfish platter all of which was absolutely mouth watering and bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. All of the side item’s like the salad ,chips spinach was fresh and delicious. I was happy that they had an excellent section of alcohol which we order such as Veuve ,Moet and Jonny walker blue. For dessert we had the baklava cheese which was out of this world felt as if I was in Greece I would say(The best I have ever eaten ). We also had the mini special cakes which was scrumptious.
Our friendly and patient waitress Belinda was very knowledgably on the menu which made it extremely helpful when it came to ordering and management always checked up on us.The seating is comfortable with a elegant Greek décor. Love the good space allocated between tables .

OMG! Their baklava cheesecake is delicious. It’s not overbearingly sweet as Baklava can be, and the cheesecake part is great. I’m already ready for more. Service was pleasant, but highly recommend a deli stop here.

The interior was very chic, the service was quick and the waiters were friendly! Our food was delicious (we had the beef yiro) like usual.

Montecasino venue has warm ambiance, especially the outdoor seating. They sometimes have live entertainment. Lots of vegetarian options, especially recommend the Veg Meze platter and Houloumi Falafel Pita
Love this restaurant! Been here twice now and wasn't disappointed so far. My husband and I particularly love the vegetarian Meze platter which is just perfect if you're looking to snack on something flavourful and tasty! The veg moussaka is also yummy! The restaurant actually has an upstairs as well as a function room as well. The deli downstairs also has some of the yummiest mini cakes!

Fantastic branch here at Monte. I had the calamari and it was divine. It does get busy over the weekends but the service and attention from the staff are fantastic
Really just great, fresh, simple Greek food with none of the fuss! We popped in here for a quick dinner and was impressed with the service and food. We ordered a platter, which was absolutely amazing. The manager was friendly and it was so great to see him folding napkins and setting tables - it really shows when a manager truly cares. He checked in to see if we were happy and even brought our food out for us.
We had a lovely lunch before our show at the Teatro.
The restaurant is big and open, clean and we just felt very relaxed there.
The service was quite good too, very friendly server and the manager came by often to check if we were okay.
The food was great everyone enjoyed our different meals, all fresh and tasty. The only comment is that the beautiful deserts are just too big, maybe if they were half the size more people will buy them.
In summary then, one of the better places to eat at Monte with a beautiful restaurant, good service and good food.
I’ve been to Mythos only once before and decided to try it out again. I love how spacious and welcoming their restaurant is in the heart of Montecasino. A live band right in front playing some great jams to liven up the evening. I opted for very traditional meals for dinner nevertheless it was still delicious. The grilled fish and chips was perfection served with the most delicious lemon butter sauce , the feta wrapped in Phyllo was great too. The service was lovely and waiters beyond friendly. Food worth the money.

Went to Mythos for an anniversary dinner. The decor is warm but modern. Service was good although it could have been better. We did not have the customary check-in by a manager which is not a problem really. The food was simple Mediterranean flavours done really well. Everything was cooked to perfection. The loukoumades (greek doughnuts) were great but would have been wonderful if they were hot. I would eat here again.
Great food. Great service. Great cocktails. Amazing vibe. If you want huddle and bustle you have the option to sit outside on pacing bricks and listen to montecasino live music. Or calmness inside does the trick for me. Also great they have a little shop you can buy so many things from. Food doesn’t take long and they are great with meat and fish, which is rare for many places. Can’t wait to go back
This Greek restaurant is a good option if you are interested in Greek food. They have Belgian beer on tap and the food is good. Their prices are steep for what you get and the service is not too fast. It is thus not a good option to go to this restaurant shortly before a show at Montecasino. However, I am sure that everyone will be able to enjoy this restaurant when they visit.

Love the ambiance here, we chose to sit upstairs and had a lovely relaxing dinner. I tried various veg dishes all of which were great. The line fish was also done well. Just disappointed by the cut of meat on the lamb chops....
We dined with friends and decided to order a variety of meze. The food was delicious. My favourites were the bifteki and calamari. The setting upstairs is really nice for a catch up. Great attentive service.

Such a great place to have dinner. We went and sat in the upstairs area where it was dimly lit and cosy on the wall couches. Service was extremely good. We were very happy with how attentive the waiter was. Ordered the meatball meze (soudsoukakia) with humus and peta bread. The portion size was very decent though they could've given more than two mini peta bread. Would definitely recommend though for a function- they have a large open upstairs area which is perfect for large gatherings. But if you're a wine person just be aware that the menu isn't the biggest but what they do have is pretty decent. Overall great place

Friday night I booked to have dinner with my family at Mythos for my mother's birthday, I definitely enjoyed their food and the atmosphere was great. Karen our waitress was very quick and friendly. I would also like to recommend their beef and feta yiro which I had that evening.
Chicken Kota 4 out of 5 . Was cooked to perfection, succulent and well seasoned . Mushroom and spinach was. 2.5 . More spinach then mushroom 🍄.
My mate was visiting from out of town so I decided to bring her here. The menu is rather limited but the food is so delicious. The staff are incredibly attentive and the layout of the place is great for small dinner parties and celebrating special occasions. The only downside is sitting on the upper deck when the casino has an event. The starter portions are tiny for the price, the mains are perfect. The barlady / barman is rather stingy with the liquor especially in the cocktails and she or he needs to go back to mixology class. Otherwise, a lovely relaxed family vibe. Try the lamb shank main and black mushroom starter.
Always a good meal and service coming here, its definitely a regular of mine. The restaurant is spacious with an upstairs area, keeping the same look and feel of the mythos franchise. Sharing a selection of meals 'tapa' style and some wine is the way to go. Food is delicious and points for consistency on the many times I've been here. The lamb chops, lamb ribs, prawns grilled and saganaki are the usual favourites. This branch also has specialty cakes which is different from the other branches.

Good quality greek fare. Love the meze options . Many vegetarian choices. Baby marrow dishes excellent and kataifi prawns delusions . Meat eaters need not worry lamb dishes good options. Service can be a bit slow especially if you are a big group.
Delicious food, we were well looked after by our waiter. The prawns were absolutely mouth watering and their skordalia dip is yummy (don't eat this on a first date). I'll definitely go back, my only gripe with this is that it's inside Montecasino and i don't think you ever get a great ambiance at the restaurants in Monte.

We have never been disappointed. Service is exceptional, efficient and friendly, and the food, especially the mezé platters, a taste sensation. If possible, spend as much time as possible to experience the different flavours at leisure.

Having lived in London, it was always so exciting to precede a West End Show with a great pre-show dinner. However, back home in SA, dinner has always been a bit of a dampener on an otherwise awesome Monte Theatre Night... Not this time! The Mythos staff were all lined up outside their front door, beaming faces, ready to serve and get us "to the show on time". As a group, we snacked on large, beautifully presented platters of all sorts of Meze from meats to cheeses to falafel to veg - there was something for everyone. The wine list also ranges from the quick quaff to the specialty boutique variety which is great to know if we come for a longer, more leisurely meal next time!

Well looking for a new experience for the old folk, we decided to treat their taste buds to a meze evening at Monte. We took charge of the orders as it was all too confusing for them 😱... we had the meze meat platter, prawns, peri peri livers and the feta in phyllo.
Service was excellent and the manageress outstanding. Dinner was a mixed bag, the feta in phyllo was exceptional and certainly moreish, I have never tasted or thought of ordering the very simple morsel, but it exploded with amazing flavor. The meze prawns were cooked to perfection and seriously large for a meze plate... no complaints as you can never have enough perfectly cooked prawns. The peri peri livers were divine and left us all wanting more, succulent and oozing with herbs and spices... that brings me to the platter... we often order platters to get a good feel of the establishment and experience the largest variety of what they have to offer... this time it was a huge mistake. All the flavors rolled into one and nothing could really stand on its own. I will add that the standard livers on the platter were dry and bland, the rest of the dish was over powered by the sauce from the calamari. This left only the tatziki, which has to be one of the best I have ever had, but still the platter was a disappointment, to an otherwise brilliant meal.

What an enjoyable experience we had at Mythos on Saturday evening after watching a show! Had one of the friendliest waiters with efficient service!! Their portions are great and their food is super tasty! Lovely vibe and love the decor! Calamari salad is too die for!! And this isn't just your normal salad with Lettuce! Definitely give it a try! Pretty good food and service. Had the croquettes as a starter and followed with the Kota mythos and ended with the halva ice cream. Croquettes were filling and had good flavour - served with a sweet-chilli sauce. My main of chicken was my favourite - very tasty highly recommended.The ice cream was delicious with just the right amount of halva pieces.
Being not so hungry we wanted to share a few meze. The food was really good from the mustard and lemon chicken to the meatballs. I wasnt a big fan of the falafela but its only personal preference as there was nothing wrong with it. The service was also very quick and we enjoyed our dinner at mythos.

With classic styling, this outlet is my favourite of the Mythos chain. I'm a big fan of shared eating experiences so the many meze options are always something to look forward to. A few negatives I've noticed are the portion sizes for some main meals and the side vegetables which can be quite lacklustre.
On this occasion I opted for the calamari salad and loved the combination of squid and feta with the freshness of the avocado and corn - really different but delicious.
It's still one of my favourite casual dining restaurants to visit when at Monte.
What an amazing experience. The meat platter was exceptional. Best livers I have ever had. My partner commented that 'this was the best meal she has had all year'. Try the Isle of Mythos cocktail, it rocks

We had the Meze platter for two and swapped the chicken livers for falafels, and added mussels, spanakopitas and kota to share between 3 of us! It was more than enough to leave all of us satisfied and happy! And it only cost us R200 each (tip included!) Will definitely return with a bigger appetite next time! Thank you Mythos!

We had the meat meze platter for 2. Everything on it was delicious, but we couldn't finish it there was so much! We also had an haloumi salad to share as well.
Everything about this experience was great, and I can't wait to go back and see if it is consistently as good!

My local spot, my go-to when I don't feel like trying something new and just want a meal where I know it will reach my expectations. This is my favourite Mythos restaurant and it is all because I have never had one bad dining experience here!
The decor is lovely and makes you feel like you are in some lavish Greek restaurant along with stunning entertainment on weekends in the form of a great singer and dancers.
The meze platters are the best because you get to try a bit of everything but don't be surprised when their Linguine Prawn Pasta rocks your socks off - it is just that good.
Super good food, great service. Loved the atmosphere and what was very impressive was the decor and how clean the restaurant was. Thanks for a great Saturday afternoon.

12.11.2016 After watching a show we decided to get something to eat. I love the interior and decor of the place even though it doesn't give off a Mediterranean vibe in terms of colour scheme. It's more modern and spacious and the chairs are not too great as you struggle with the flooring a bit to move it. We sat upstairs and it was rather quiet. We mostly ordered of the meze sections.
• Lamb riblets which were tender juicy and tasty. Basted in Olive Oil and Oregano
• Prawns Sagananki which was tomato based with white wine feta cheese and some ouzo. It just needed a little bit of spice to it. I added some peri sauce and it was much better.
• Kolokithakia which is thinly sliced Crumbed and Feep Fried Baby Marrow. This needed a bit more crunch.
• Seasoned Chicken srips grilled in a Creamy Mustard and Lemon Sauce.
• Falafel which is deep fried Chickpea Balls served with hummus
• Kota mythos being the Chicken breast topped with Feta, Mushrooms, and Olive
• Kerkira Baby Chicken with peri peri. Which didn't have any spice to it.
We were full but decided to share a dessert. The Loukoumades - (Greek doughnuts drizzled with honey and pecan nuts served with ice cream) it was definitely a generous portion for 1 person. It was nice but not wow the ice cream was rather icy... and the doughnuts were a bit hard. Luckily it wasn't too sweet.
Our waitress was friendly and the service was good. Pity we missed the Greek dancing they were having later that day as we left when they arrived. Will definitely try them again when in the area.
I love Mythos' decor and general ambience. The Montes branch is my favourite, the service is good and reliable. We had the Vegetarian Meze Platter for 2, very tasty!

When you go to Monte for an evening out there are umpteen restaurants to chose from. We chose Mythos and we were delighted with our choice. The decor is beautiful and the service impeccable. The variety of Tapas was extensive and the portions quite generous. My absolute favourite was the feta in phyllo pastry. Can't wait to go back there.
Met some friends for cocktails and dessert at this Greek restaurant. Their baklava cheesecake is divine, first tasted it at their design Quarter branch - it's my favourite! The atmosphere was lively and lots of fun.

Mythos is seriously amazing. From service, right down to the amazingly prepared meals. So far the best steak I've ever had comes from Mythos. Im yet to try their other meals, so for now ill leave it at a 3,5 until we visit again.
I came here with a group of 12 work colleagues on a Wednesday evening. Although the restaurant itself was quiet, it's in the heart of Monte Casino and so there was a lively atmosphere. The decor is quite tasteful. Our waitress was excellent and knowledgeable. My husband and I ordered a vegetarian platter for two to share. I was very impressed with most of the offerings on the platter (except for the dolmades, but that is a personal taste). Everyone at the table was impressed with the quality and portion sizes of their meals. Dessert was a divine slice of Baklava cheesecake which was delicious! Really great experience here, good atmosphere and good service.
We love steak! Good steak that is. And mythos is by far one of the best. Every bite is an amazing taste journey. One that you wish would not end. The portion is a perfect size and and the steak is cooked just right. Medium rare is actually done medium rare! Who would have thought. I have no idea how they do their meat but the amount of deliciousness packed in that one meal means we left happy customers. And the service as sharp as ever. After a disappointing meal at Pappas in Sandton the previous afternoon; We decided to drive to Monte Casino. Mythos captured our attention from the aura to having the option to sit anywhere we wanted including the cosy booth upstairs. The couches on the balcony were so comfortable, the staff was genuinely friendly although we had about 3 waiters attending to us (A bit overwhelming but their service was consistent). The food was fantastic and the prices are great. I'd give Mythos a 5 rating if they just add more olives to the salads and gave the pita bread as complementary.
What a delightful experience. Tried the meze meat platter for 2 and this was more than enough for us and delicious. Ambience of the restaurant was great. Well laid out with tables not bunched one on top of the other. Our first visit and will certainly return.

I have been there a few times and every time I basically stuck to what I enjoyed previously.
Last night I tried the 300g fillet with roast potatoes and we also got to share a platter for 2.

The humus is divine and as with the rest of the meal I cannot fault.
I would however comment on the prices. The fillet cost R160 and the platter for 2 at R275 .
If you were really hungry the platter won't fill you.

I have been to the Mythos in Cradlestone mall and loved the food so when we arrived to eat at the Montecasino branch I was curious to see if the standards would be as high. I have to say it was one of the best nights out I have had in a long time. It's obviously popular because the place was packed but even so the food was spectacular and the service was excellent. Also the entertainment was pretty awesome! Belly dancers came around dancing between the tables it made for such a great atmosphere and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Meze we had was lovely although the Calamari wasn't great everything else was well cooked and presented. Best Greek food I have had. The Greek yoghurt and honey I had for desert was the perfect end to a wonderful night. Will definitely be back soon
I've dined at the restaurant on 2 separate occasions and both times the bill for 2 people was well over R1K. That being said, we're enjoyed the trying the different platters, great wine selection and loved the warm service. The dessert alone is enough to keep us coming back again and again. One of my favourite places for Greek food in Johannesburg!
Had my birthday dinner here,and my oh my, did we enjoy ourselves. There were plenty of options on the wine list. I had the kleftico, which was divine lamb shank heaven. The deco and ambiance were the cherry on top - a peaceful and serene outdoor-indoor feel downstairs and a fun vibe upstairs.
Enjoy the Kleftiko, but be sure to save space for the Greek doughnuts!! They are out of this world. And very tastefully decorated restaurant with efficient service.
Had a work year end dinner here . Table was set up for us on arrival. Considering we were a very large group service was fair - but could have been better. I struggled to get the attention of the waiters between meals and had to request the same order more than once before it came.
A few of our main plates and next plates from starters were not cleared until just before we left our seats to gather for photos.
But the food itself was good and wait time for everyone to get their meals was very quick and all at once. Nice aesthetic, good menu variety and decent spot if you’re looking for a yummy Greek spot.
Probably have an easier time and better service in a standard group size table.

In the past, we've loved visiting the Mythos Greek restaurant inside Montecasino. With Covid, they closed down. Nikos, another Greek restaurant is now there ... but it's just not the same.
Yesterday on our way back from Eastgate, we decided to try the Mythos in Design Quarter. It was around 16h30. My golly, they have such interesting specials! Tuesdays (after 5pm) you can choose 3 starter plates for R159. On a Monday, you'll get R100 off their sharing platters. Check their Sunday prawn special!
We really wanted a meze platter to share - what a pity it was Tuesday!!!! But at R399 it was worth it!!!! I had a Greek coffee first and Hein a glass of crisp white wine. Manager Quentin had a lovely chat with us.
Love the 'crochet' umbrellas and the artwork on the walls inside. The fake olive trees are gorgeous!!!!!!! I actually touched them to see if they're real or fake. Going to the bathroom - quite a few steps to the next level, but love the decor.
Our platter arrived. Looked amazing!!! The prawns were mine - the heads were super juice and the rest just perfect!!!! Dipped them in the white taramasalata dip (all mine, since Hein really doesn't like too fishy stuff). Calamari tubes tender and delicious!
The skewers were fab, beef strips salty and saucy! Pita breads like plumb pillows .... and the lamb meatballs - to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!! The chicken livers - oh my - I wanted to just dunk my head into that sauce ..... absolutely fantastic! Livers juicy and tender!
Stuffed but happy - we will be back!!!!

We like this restaurant. It is very popular and definitely make a reservation if you do not want to be disappointed.
The food is great. From tapas to mains to dessert- every dish is good.
The service, however, is slow. Even after we pointed it out, the service was poor.
The waiters all stood around chatting and ignored patrons. In fact, the waiters were talking so loudly that we could not focus on our own conversation.
Really tasty food, a good option if you want authentic Greek flavours.
The donuts on the dessert menu were absolutely delicious.
Service better than average and management very much present and ready to assist.
It gets crowded and noisy during peak times.
Very nice area quiet , feels like you are on vacation somewhere outside South Africa😊🥰

Located between 2 other restaurants and opposite Mr Price Home.

The owner is so hands on and engaged with her workers and her customers. Beautiful Greek restaurant perfectly located for both indoor and outdoor dining. Food is great. Only wish there were more bathrooms available.
Lovely atmosphere to chill and dine in , services was great , had a great waiter , however the seafood was tastless we had grilled calamari there was no flavor and the prawns had no flavor , the creamed spinach was delicious though.
My mom's 80th b/day lunch. It was stunning!!

Lovely restaurant, food was amazing with wholesome portion sizes. We ordered two platters for a table of 4 ppl and we enjoyed it. The cheesecake was a lil disappointing, it was a bit bland for my taste. Restaurant was clean, modern themed decor and service was pleasant and fast.
Birthday lunch with hubby. What a wonderful experience. Delicious food and atmosphere. Just so nice being there, will go back

I am happy with a friendly service I got from Noel (Bartender) he is the best. Keep up the good work. This is a very nice place to chill at.
Had a really delicious meal from start to finish. Each dish was fresh and tasted great. A tantalizing spread of meze dishses with calamari, lamb ribs, chicken livers and soanakopita. Each dish was so great and tasty, would definitely have it again. For mains we shared a chicken yiro and ended off with a baklava and it was probably one of the best I have ever had. The waiting staff were all so friendly and attentive. Overall it was a great evening out with some amazing food. Would definitely recommend if you looking for some good Greek food.
