Review Patisserie De Paris - Johannesburg

Albrits Myburgh
We sat inside where the decor was older and the music and noise too loud. Had the breakfast. Great tastes but the sausage was raw inside and the egg, although sunnyside up, was underdone with the white still running. Partner had the poached egg which was perfect. Great coffee, great bread. Excellent service.

I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family with an appetite for European food. The unique decor gives the place a friendly, French ambience. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The food was served simply, but appetisingly and creatively. I loved the beautifully, neat cursive in which the menu was written on a large blackboard. The only unfortunate experience was the waiter forgot to bring cold milk for my husband's coffee on both occasions. However, he was quick to bring it when reminded to do so. The service was good considering the restaurant was busy due to it being Mother's Day.

Nice breakfast place. Nice food. Good service.

Took my Gran, Aunt and partner for brunch and it truly was a lovely experience! -Hot chocolate 9/10 -Cafe latte 11/10 - BEST! -Chocolate milkshake 10/10 -Baguettes 10/10 - two people could share a full baguette. -Chicken prego 5/10 - it's a chicken burger. Nothing special about it. -Death by chocolate cake - 5/10 - not worth the hype. It's not sweet which is great, but it is an average tasting chocolate cake. -Lemon meringue - 10/10 -Chocolate croissants - 8/10 - Rye bread - 9/10 - Walnut and raisin bread - 8/10 Service - 6/10. Had a few different waiters attended to us, all of which we needed to repeat our order to. Not badly priced. Fed 4 people for R880 (R80 tip).

This is a lovely location to dine in or even just have a coffee. Always plenty of seating and friendly staff, very accommodating and sincere, they helped us choose a great alternative for breakfast during loadshedding. The food is fantastic, well presented, tasty, and served in reasonable time. Free WiFi is available even during loadshedding.

Very French..... Love it!! Today my best friend, her partner and I visited one of our favorite places to go to, Patisserie de Paris( a reunion after three months since we last saw one another). We bonded over good conversation and yummy eats.

A FREEDOM DAY celebration with friends! Quaint ambiance, delicious decadent pastries and cakes. Breads of every kind, macarons in rainbow colours, drinks for every taste! Friendly service and well priced! Merci!

Best pastries in Johannesburg! It’s worth the drive from wherever you are in town. Everything is made fresh on-site. It’s a nice little escape from the hectic pace of Johannesburg Pro tip: baked goods go 1/2 price after 1630!
Sandra Meyer
Awesome little spot! The food was excellent with an extensive selection to choose from and fantastic coffee! Couldn't help ordering some of the delicious cake as a to go option. 😁
Amanda Meyer
Best croissants and baguettes in town, hands-down. No frills establishment where the food speaks for itself and the servers are always friendly and helpful (but talk me into too many carbs!). I love this place.

I spotted this cute little cafe on my way to another place for breakfast. I ordered the hot chocolate and brownie (sweet tooth haha) the hot chocolate is made from real chocolate and not powder. However, it was disappointingly sweet, and couldn't finish it. But, everything was good, the atmosphere felt very welcoming and had plenty of regulars.

Fantastic place. It's a little hidden gem of a bakery/ restaurant. The breakfasts are excellent and the French loaves really very good. Thumbs up

Patisserie de Paris honestly has one of the best breakfasts in Johannesburg. The service is great, the food is fresh, and the taste is just incredible every single time.

I'm giving the establishment only 3 stars for the following reasons: 1) the sautéed potatoes and cherry tomatoes was cold when it arrived. Almost as if was prepared this morning and then slap on plate. The tomatoes didn't have the texture or consistentcy of freshly prepared fried tomatoes. And it lack taste and aroma. The same goes for the potatoes as it was already stale and bit dry. 2) I had the Lyon breakfast, the mushroom sauce was cold as well but it had a very nice flavour and texture to it. Must be amazing if hot and freshly prepared. 3) Sourdough bread....... must be lightly toasted to be crispy and not rock hard. 4) My poached eggs was perfectly done medium. Thank you 5) your hot chocolate is to die for. Well done. Something to remember. It's middle of winter, warm the plate to touch as this will keep the food warm and flavorful longer. People love this place as I've noticed a few regulars. Staff know them which means people go back. This is my first time and will try them again

I eat here fairly often. I have never had a complaint. I’ve never had to send anything back. Their food is excellent, the service is brilliant and their pricing is far below what you’re actually getting. Everything from the menu, the cakes, bread and even their cheeses are all top quality and made very well. For a small bistro that doesn’t look like much, it definitely deserves its Taste 500 spot

Been there twice ... Dissapointing both times for breakfast ... First time I tried salmon scrambled eggs ... Runny eggs and a tasteless dish in general .. Second time this morning ... Poached eggs on cream mushroom bed on sourdough toast . Creamy mushroom was sour , bread wasn't toasted and sautéed side potatoes were more like old dry roasted potatoes ... I mentione to the waiter that the cream mushroom was sour ... No feedback no response from management ... Actually no presence of any management ... High prices below average food ... Coffee was good

Ordered a 21st birthday cake, the work on the outside was great, however the cake was dry, there was not enough layers with filling and the fondant was too thick. It was embarrassing to serve. I went in and asked to speak to the owner on the side (to not disturb his other customers - which would be considered good manners actually). Didn't want the money back or anything, however i went back to provide the owner with some constructive feedback and he was very very aggressive and arrogant, and refused to hear any complaints. He only shouted and says that the cake was the best that could have ever been done - even a 7 year old could have made a better cake. He then proceeded to tell me to get out, and then started shouting outside. The cost of the cake was R1 050.00, I should have went with my intial idea to just make the cake myself. The owner should not have a business as he clearly cannot treat people with respect, and this only shows a lack of respect for himself and the business itself. This is not the way that you treat customers! The owner is very rude and an arrogant piece of s**t to be honest! Not happy with the service at all!

I have had breakfast there 2 weekends in a row and what I loved about the place was the freshness and quality of the food. Kwenza, the manager and his staff need to be complimented on their friendliness and helpfulness. A great little find.

It was my first time, and since I am French, I headed straight for the cheese counter where I spent a fortune. We had an amazing diet-free breakfast and now I have to spend next week starving to lose all the calories I ate in one day... So worth it.

Had breakfast with my son on Sunday, staff were great, food was great and atmosphere was lovely! Have been supporting this restaurant since it opened and have always been very happy!

Good food ..Good service...wonderful ambience..freshness and quality is something to treasure and fully appreciate. Patisserie De Paris is one of a kind..thanks to Paul Zwick and staff.

What a quaint place! Great coffee and breakfast! Good value for your money too!

Un petit goût de France au milieu de Blairgowrie. Personnellement j'aime mieux leurs baguettes! Parfait pour un petit-déjeuner décontracté et décontracté ou un déjeuner léger
Michelle Breytenbach
Love the ambience and food, my new local favorite place
Linda Luke
We enjoyed our impromtu visit. Lovely setting. French music. Staff friendly and helpful. Tasty food and drinks. Not badly priced. The brownies we took home were the BEST ever
Jan van der Merwe
Food average and I requested an extra strip of bacon for which I was grossly overcharged more than a third of the price of the original dish and the strip was minute !!!
Charissa de Jager
Quite dissappinted. Popped in to get a treat for breakfast. Most pastries on the shelves did not look fresh.... ended up taking a mini chicken quiche. Tasteless and dry. Unfortunately this is not up to standard compared to what the other bakeries/ patisseries in joburg have to offer.
Suzanne Van Zuydam Pretorius
I like to buy bread there because they use proper flour. Their pastries are lovely. We had coffee and croissants with ham and cheese. It just hit the spot. Will go there everyday if I can.
Tony Vedda
Love this place. A touch of Paris in the heart of Randburg.A reasonably priced menu with simple French dishes. Great for breakfast and lunches. Open from 6:30 am until 5 Pm weekdays.Great little bakery for pastries and bread. Ambience like a typical French sidewalk Cafe.
Ursula Van Rooyen
I love this little place, it has indoor and outdoor seating, the staff are great and friendly, service is good.

Now for the food - it's fantastic. Tasty beyond words. I had the Lyon breakfast loved every mouthful, it's a big breakfast so make sure you are hungry. My husband had the croissant with scrambled egg, the eggs were creamy the croissant was soft and fresh. We also got cheese cake and custard slice, yummy, yummy, yummy.

This is a must try restaurant. I'll be back.
Melissa Naegele
This cafe has a wonderful ambience with lovely french music playing in the background along with the trickling sound of the little water feature.
Been here before for their delicious baguettes and pastries which never dissapoint. However I went with a group of four and we were dissapointed by the slow ad confused service. Little details such as not clearing the table away and waiting 15 minutes for someone to take our drinks order. The drinks were good, really nice strong coffee served hot!
The food was okay, both the eggs benedict and the Lyon breakfast lacked taste and seasoning and the sauces (hollandaise and mushroom sauce) were a bit stodgy and thick making it not seem so fresh. But otherwise the eggs were paoched well and we enjoyed our visit.
Owen Tennant
Visited a few times for a coffee and sometimes a breakfast, lovely addition to the suburb, outdoor and indoor seating and interesting different menu , worth a visit , looks like no manager on site , staff okay but a bit lethargic. Twice had to find someone so I could pay
Blue Jiay
Holy Moly, do you have to try their famous New York Cheese Cake! (For FRIENDS fans, its basically that cheese cake Rachel and Chandler were fighting over and end up eating off the floor).
Not particularly rich but oh so creamy! The textures like fluffy feathery pillow fights in your mouth. Then pair it with their cappuccinos and voila!
Their other cakes are amazing too ... Death by Chocolate is pleasurably moist and flavourful and the White Chocolate and Honeycomb Cheesecake is also drool-worthy, texture is quite heavy and a small spoonful goes a long way. But honestly, if theres New York Cheese cake ordered and its not yours - you'll be regretting your order.
Place is quaintly decorated and the staff is effecient to cope with the buzz.
Tarryn
I go to this place weekly and it never disappoints from the breakfast to the lunches and even the cakes....ordered 3 different types of cheese cakes +- R40 per slice. I ordered baklava cheese cake, Mississippi and chocolate cheese cake all were so tasty and good portion sizes.
Thalita Van Der Merwe
Best cheesecake I have had in a long time and they are not stingy at all with the slide size!
Their brownies are heavenly. Don't forget some bread while you are there!
Tamlyn Arnold
The atmosphere is quaint and cute. Unfortunately the service is really bad. I have eaten here 3 times, and all three times I had to go find a waiter to order and pay my bill. The breakfasts are delicious but carrot cake was dry.
KarmaZebra
“Close to the real thing” cafe and certainly well loved! There was a constant flow of people sitting down and just grabbing a few pastries for brekkie.
Super service and the French Press coffee is delicious! Minimal veggie options but they do have non dairy milk and smoothies. 🌱
Moleboheng Mockena Annaliza LizZ-gal
Decent place, had one of the greatest healthy drinks ever! My burgette wasn’t particularly nice, the cakes are great! I love the cheesecake - a great balance between flavor and sugar!
Jenny Laithwaite
My go-to coffee and pastry place. And their pies are absolutely delicious for a ready-made lunch. Love buying their sourdough bread. Their cheese is great for a treat.
Anisha Lutchman
Patisserie de Paris is a lovely little patisserie/bakery that I came across down the road from where I live. I've been here twice and ordered a couple of take away pastries and they've all been really delicious! I always end up going there after work so I find that most of the stuff is already sold out. However, the upside to this is that they have 50% off all pastries and quiches between 16:00 and 17:30, which is when they close on weekdays. I can definitely recommend their brownies and custard danishes. I think I've found my new favourite spot!
Charles Davis
We have been enjoying our meals on so many occasions, however today was not the same, no Baguettes for the all Baguette lunch menu.

Settled on some sour dough and ciabatta sliced, dry and non-inspiring.

The fillings were sparse and much to be desired.

Please restore the quality were accustomed to.
Philip Goosen
In the mood for a proper sandwich (and not just your average cheese and tomato toasted sandwich) and came accross this quaint little spot.

1ste of all, ignore any comments from people complaining about the baguette, as these are th real deal, and took me completely back to my travels. The surface is perfectly cruncy and the inside chewey and full of flavour, the perfect baguette.

We opted for both the roast chicken and roast beef sandwiches, both were really good. The roast beef had a delicious horseradish maya with dill pickles, perfect balance.

The chicken although there was no sauce or condiments, it was not dry at all, the tomato, and jelly was a perfect match. Well done to Patisserie this was truly good.

And let me not forget the really good iced coffee and hot chocolate, both were absolutely devine and of high quality and taste.

A well deserved 4 in this category of food establishment, well done to the owner and baker(s) for providing a truly authentic experience. Next time around i will definitely leave with some goodies from the deli.

A patisserie filled with love.
The staff are an absolute pleasure!
My Oreo milkshake was extraordinary and as the waiter said made with love.
The light breakfast was perfect.
Such a lovely little place where I could catch up with my friends.
The Picky Eater
I only give a 2.5 because it is not a 100% French bakery. They mostly serve South African treats.

But the croissants are worth it. I recommend the plain croissant and the almond croissant. The baguette can be a little bit hard most of the times unfortunately. After 3pm they usually have very few fresh items left to sell.

I sometimes buy cheese there for a treat because French cheese is really good!

This is an absolute gem. Have brunch outside with friends or your significant other on a lazy Sunday in the sun. It's such a beautiful quaint shop with delicious food. Must visit.
Robyn
Not very impressed! have wanted to come here for ages and went out of my way to do so. Was looking for a savory nibble to go and the quiches and pastries were cold and congealed. They looked like yesterdays leftovers. When I finally settled on a gypsy ham baguette which listed cheese as an ingredient I was told by the waiter that cheese was extra although it's didn't say EXTRA on the board! Have now walked over to the the Engen around the corner for breakfast.

The outside attracted us. My friend Emma and I were so excited to eat at this place.

We both had the Scandinavian breakfast. An egg Benedict styled dish layered with Scottish salmon. I thought it was ok. My friend on the other hand did not enjoy it at all, so she ended up eating some of it & started feeling nauseous & then ordered a quiche Lorraine Slice which had bacon & Emmentaler cheese in it, she wasn't too happy with that either so she ended up bagging that too. I must admit that I didn't finish my breakfast either.

The hot chocolate & their berry smoothies were delicious though.

The service was non existent. They might want to consider employing another waitron, especially since it was a Saturday morning.
Kristina Kozak
Love this little spot. My cravings for cheese and fresh baguette are always satisfied. Delicious coffee and desserts. A must pop in for breakfast or lunch, if you looking for fresh baguette get there early

I consider this patisserie as a hidden gem as always drive through Conrad Drive and never ever knew this was here if it wasn't for French cultural event .On arrival I was greeted in French and service was so friendly. I thought I had gone to a place in France not Johannesburg. I had chocolate croissants which were delicious albeit slightly small but not too small (I obviously wanted more of croissants as they were good)
Jeff Siepman
This little gem was a great find for me. I have never eaten here but always pop in for a coffee when I have the chance. Staff are friendly and the service is generally quick.
Colani Homan
Amazing coffee, warm and friendly staff, and the bar one cheesecake is the best. Definitely a favourite workplace during the week, and a very relaxing breakfast spot on weekends. My ultimate favourite coffee spot.
Charlemagne Olivier
A hidden gem that most people don't know about. This quaint pastel coloured French inspired cafe is absolutely awesome - the staff are always super friendly and the cheeses as well as pastries you can take home are great!I always opt for the plunger coffee here because you can get a good 6 cups out of it! (great for sharing)

we hosted a bridal shower for my sister in law, did the high tea option and everything was beyond expectation. food and service was great. will definitely be visiting again. Thanks Paul and Kwenza for the assistance.

I've never had a bad meal here. The Croque Madame is perfect. The bakery has a amazing selection of pastries and cakes. Service is always excellent. Dogs are also welcome.
Johan Vos
I have visited the Patisserie a few times now for Sunday breakfast and thought that the time is right to share my experiences. We tend to go rather early on a Sunday morning as the tables fill up quite quickly, but the food is definitely worth it. I would recommend their omelettes, and the pastries are out of this world. The best part is that they open early on weekdays (6:30am) so you can swing past to pick up a coffee and a croissant if you feel in the mood for a spoil before work.
Jo Burger
Nice suburban spot to stop by for a coffee and cake or for brunch. The carrot cake was good. Service tends to be a bit slow. There is a cheese shop attached with some fancy out there cheeses on sale.
Jess McKinnon
Stopped here for my birthday tea today. I don't know why I come back to this place. It used to be really pleasant when they first opened but now the shop is dreary and run down. Brown stains dripping down the wall next to our table, filthy window sills, scuffed and chipped paintwork, and a dog-eared dirty torn pamphlet on the table. We tried to order the carrot cake. I understand this is a bakery and things do run out, but if it is on the menu you are obliged to have it available at all times. If this is not possible, dont list it on the menu. Simple. The whipped cream accompanying the pecan pie was sour, and was not replaced until we had finished eating the tart and drinking our tea. When we complained about this the waitress told us that they MAKE their cream fresh and that's why it took so long. If it was made fresh it wouldn't have been sour in the first place. I won't be back.....
Yolisa
I love this patisserie. I love that they have such good food and very cheap. I am sucker for french toast and their french toast with berry compote and mascarpone is literally heaven on earth. The blueberry cheese cake is also a must try, I absolutely loved it. You wont be disappointed by the Patisserie de Paris.
Mignon Baines
We have been coming here for ages and love it. The service is (nearly always) excellent. The pastries are delicious and the breakfasts and baguettes to die for. My kids adore the over-sized meringues and oat cookies. The only complaint? My husband says the lemon meringue need to be crunchier on top!

Lunch yesterday (27 September 2016).

Okay so I love this cafe/restaurant. I used to come past here every other day in matric for a croissant and a freezo - both highly recommended.

The service is really great super friendly! The food is also very good. One of my friends had the chicken salad and said the salad dressing was one of the nicest she's ever had. My other friend and myself both had the tuna mayo sandwich on rye. It was really delicious and freshly made. I also had the frullato (a blended fruit salad and iced cream smoothie) which was superb!

The only issue I have is that if you go later in the afternoon they sometimes run out of things that are generally on the menu. For example we were there at 2:30pm and wanted a roasted chicken/ chicken mayo sandwich but these options were fully sold out.

Their cakes and pastries are literally to die for! Highly recommended checking them out if you're in the Blairgowrie area. 🍰🍩🍪🍞

A newly recommended bakery coffee shop in Blairgowrie. It's a French Pastisserie and it certainly deserves a visit.

It has the potential of being really fantastic, it just needs some oomph, a bit of new life and personality, perhaps a change in colour scheme and a touch of interior design. I can only describe it as the outdated duckling but it could a trending swan.

I had breakfast there and choose the scrambled egg salmon on a croissant with crispy bacon. It was done perfectly and is very rich, so next time I'll try it with their sour bread. Really tasty and proper crispy bacon, I thank you for that.

Though there isn't a vast selection on the menu it also has the patisserie of divine chocolate croissants and brownies and puffed cream éclairs. But in a flash they were sold out of things. So extremely popular, best go early.

The service started off a tad slow but did gather better momentum and it was neither great nor bad but friendly service.

There is also parking at the back which was a plus.

😊😏🤔 - ambience
🙂😊😊 - service
😊😊😊 - food

A cool relaxed atmosphere with excellent cuppachino on offer. Really a great little sport for a lazy Sunday breakfast or an impromptu baguette for lunch. Agree with food24.com --- definitely excellent baguettes!!
Ross Phillips
Fantastic breakfasts and great coffee! The cheese and bakery section is also delicious. All in all a little gem for a weekend breakfast or coffee.
Jami Ella Gavin
Had the most delicious French toast and always love their baguettes. The simple cheese baguette never lets me down. Coffee was a little hot. Reasonably priced and all round delicious :)
Andrea
Excellent spot to relax with my baby girl. I found it great that the waiter remembered me from two weeks before and asked if I would like the usual decaf latte to start! I then had a delicious croissant with emmental cheese and ham followed by an unbelievably tasty chocolate brownie for dessert.
This is definitely one of my favorite places to support!
Irfaan
What a treat. Love this place. The food (breakfast) is absolutely delicious. Lots of options, great quality, beautiful presentation. The service is great. The quality definitely ranks up there with some of the best breakfasts I've had. There's also an in-house bakery, they do sell out quickly as it seems to be the neighborhood favorite. Pricing is alot more reasonable compared to the more well know places.

Quoi dire... J'adore. A beautiful place to be nostalgic about the Paris of our dreams. Lovely pastries, excellent service, fantastic innovative drinks. The ambiance is perfect to work there for a bit in your computer or have a coffee with a friend. It is family friendly, the products are authentic. Perhaps, it needs a new lick of paint in some areas and they need more than two cds to rotate throughout the day. When I left I knew by heart the Carla Bruni album....

Isn't this place lovely?I love that you could have a lazy relaxed breakfast by yourself peacefully, or with a group of people at any of their tables outside.
I'd been meaning to check out Patisserie de Paris for a long time.Breakfast is very important to me, and I judge a place by its french toast. Excellent! The coffee was also good.
Patisserie de Paris is conveniently located in the quieter part of Blairgowrie . I 'll definitely be going back.

Patisserie Dr Paris had been a favourite for a very long time
To sit down and have a light meal, or my favourite have a cup of coffee and one of their divine chocolate brownies! - this would get a 4.5/5 rating, as the service is a little slow.

However I have a little sad news. I ordered a cake from them and spoke to the owner. We chatted numerous times and my cake did not turn out as I wanted or expected at all. The flavours of the cake were wrong, the colouring and most of all it was finished off terribly! We had to DIY a quick plan to make it presentable at my 21st Birthday. This really upset me. The cake still tasted DELICIOUS and still looked GOOD.
Nishela Ramgoolam
Artisanal pastry shop and bakery that makes the most delicious breads and croissants according to traditional techniques and using only organic and natural ingredients. There are a number of appealing items on the restaurant menu - I opted for the chicken salad which was quite boring and the avo...
Gary Jackson
Awesome quality breakfast very well priced. Fantastic croissants, best in Joburg by far.

The bread however is a show stopper. Think baklava cheesecake, French cheese and friendly staff.

I wish I could give lower then a 1 , this place is disgusting!! We ordered a cake to be made for a birthday and when it came is was absolutely terrible, it looked as if a 12 year old baked it, then when confronting the owner Paul(who actually baked it) ; i have never been spoken to so rudely in my life, and was told in quote, "that I was just ranting about the cake"!!! The nerve of this rude old man talking to a customer this way was unbelievable!! he continued this way saying things like "who do you think you are" and ended by just walked off in mid conversation, no apology, refused any sought of refund and for a R1700 cake, Worst experience at any dining establishment in my life !! And I'm not over exaggerating!
Reinard McPherson
I am reading a number of the posts re this patisserie, and I have to disagree. The pastries were nice enough, but my experience of the service was quite different to previous posts: the servers have been disinterested and actually dismissive on two consecutive occasions now.
CharM
Coffee was great! Was hoping for something decadent but alas they didn't have anything banting. Hopefully something next time... The other pastries looked yummy..
Gerlinde Isabelle Wilreker
Charming patisserieand coffee shop. Head over for breakfast and choose from a tasty variety of dishes and great coffee. Very reasonably priced. A little gem. After breakfast buy yourself some fresh bread, pastries, cheese and other delicatessen.
Catherine
Apart from the service being slow, the food is tasty. I would recommend the egg mayonnaise baguette and the Oreo milkshake. The inside is beautifully decorated and I look forward to my next visit.
O-Mizu Satori
Albeit the cakes, pastries and all the food here is amazing and skyrockets your tastebuds, the service was very disappointing. We had to ask for menus, ask to be served and scout a waiter down all the time. They are so scarce, it's like playing hide and seek. Yes we will go back to try some other things in the menu, just hope to have better luck with service.
Sérgio Rocha
Stumbled upon them after a race. Wow! And very well priced! Their Normandy Breakfast as well as their Eggs Benedict Marseilles are divine, great Cappuccinos too! We will definitely be back.
Kerry Leigh Simpson
What a delightful surprise! My mom and I have passed this little spot many times but it never grabbed our attention enough. On a hot Sunday we decided to give it a chance and are so pleased we did.Having researched them before we knew they don't serve wine so we took our own bottle of bubbles and positioned ourselves at a table by the fountain outside.Service was quietly attentive and we stuck with the French theme and ordered a traditional Croque Monsieur, too delicious for words with the perfect balance of light brioche, ementhaler cheese and ham topped with grilled bechamel sauce. It truly hit the spot! The freshly baked breads and croissants look delicious and we will be back to try the quiche. All it needs is a dash more energy and some French cafe music to add some ambience but on the whole we loved it's quiet simplicity - just what one looks for in a neighbourhood eatery without the pretentiousness and high pricing!
Kiran Vallabh
Went at about five in the evening wanted to try the cakes and cookies.Must say they taste great, the chocolate brownies are to die for, light and goey. What I did not like was some of the food in uncovered, flies sitting on some items, not cool.
Jaco Van Schalkwyk
Very nice setting, lovely atmosphere, must try baklava cheesecake - service can be better 😕 struggled to get a waiter to serve us - pity ??
Vicky Gross
Absolutely delicious. Great service, very attentive waitor. Variety of food to choose from, with their speciality in baguettes, croissants and cakes. I had the Breakfast 'Le Simple' and it was delicious and well-priced. Definitely going back.
Kat :)
I read so many reviews about this patisserie, so I decided to go there today and get some of the lovely treats everyone raved about.... Boy, what a disappointment. Apart from the less than mediocre selection of treats that are wildly over-priced (R17 for one macaron?!),the baked goods looked old and unappealing, upon my entry I was just stared at and ignored.... Pity.
Zainab
Very disappointed with today's service. We arrived and there was no one to seat us (despite the fact that they were not busy). We found a table for ourselves and waited 15 minutes for service. Eventually I got up and approached one of the waiters, who wasn't very apologetic. Our order came out wrong. Again, unapologetic. I will not be back in a hurry!
Danelle Stiles
Met my mom for lunch at Patisserie de Paris and what a treat! We shared a cheese platter made up of 3 imported cheeses, 2 pâtés, preserves and fresh sour dough bread. The Brie needs special mention, it's melt in your mouth soft, creamy and delicious.
We ended off with tea and the best cheesecake I've ever tasted!
I'd highly recommend this gem.
Thembelihle Seruto
Let me just start off by saying TEA!

I decided to pop by after venturing off to the traffic department because I feel like I deserved a celebratory treat. What a great idea! They have expanded since I've last visited which was so good to see :) They have much more indoor seating and a little French Market section which is a little french deli filed with treats and cheese. It is split up into 3 sections: Patisserie (bakery), French Market and restuarant.

The outside and inside seating areas make this place quite delightful and great for daytime lightness; a light sandwhich and light sweet treats.

They keep it as authentically French as possible from using only French Belgian chocolate, playing French music and cute little Paris touches here and there. The French market sells only French products barring one or two items. Known for their infamous, authentically made baguettes and attendance at the Bryanston Organic Market. They believe in bread and keeping their bread game real by making it Fresh every day using just the basics of bread making no funny stuff. Please do read the lovely story of the owner and his journey. Ever so sweet.

I give this place props for:
• Large tea selection
• Authentic bread
• Outside seating
• Lightness
• Incredible staff
• Plenty of treats (cheese, pastries and niceys)
• Authenticity

What I ate:
• French tea (Marco Polo)
• Americano
• Peach custard pastry and chocolate twist

A lovely afternoon spot for a quick light bite to eat and to get some treats for later or others

I went to Patisserie de Paris this morning for breakfast. My food came wrong the first time, but the waiter was so amazing about taking the food back, and I was made a whole new meal. The chef even came out to make sure everything was ok and it was delicious! Patisserie de Paris is a gem!

Last week, my mom suggested that we meet for lunch at Patisserie de Paris in Blairgowrie. Always enthusiastic to try somewhere new, I readily agreed. Oh boy – am I glad that she suggested this delight!. Tucked away in a small shopping centre behind the Engen garage on Conrad Drive, if you blink you’ll drive straight past it. So you need to be pretty certain about where you are going.

Everything about this place is perfect - from the decor (whicg reminds me of a typical Parisian tea salon) down to the food and waiters. The menu is varied and exceptionally put together, featuring French classics such as croque monsieur. Their wait staff is attentive and is very happy to accommodate. I will be back!

First time visit , breakfast Saturday morning. Ambience good food well presented and tasty. Maybe that term is overused but that what it was. Service quick, attentive waiter and an overall " I'll remember this place" experience

The Patisserie de Paris is a cute little cafe/deli/patisserie with a charming backstory - a career change and a trip to study classic French cuisine is part of the story as to how it came to be. We found the shop to be rather disjointed as it is separated into 3 sections - restaurant, deli & boulangerie/patisserie with additional seating spilling onto the parking space pavement. The menu offers a wide range of breakfasts and a few salads and sandwiches for lunch. We were there for lunch but we'll definitely be back for breakfast - we hear they make a mean hollondaise sauce. We decided on a beef pastrami baguette - some of the best baguettes in town - which was simple yet delicious. We finished off the meal with 2 superb macarons and a rather unhappy espresso. Overall this patisserie seems to have places where it shines and places where it misses the mark. What they do well makes it worth the visit.

What a quaint and lovely place for a relaxing tea-time outing! The baklava cheesecake was absolutely delicious, and the coffees were good.

We had a problem with bees, but I understand that that's not directly the fault of the staff. I commend them on helping us to chase the bees away. Just be warned that sweet things will attract them in the warmer months!

The decor is cute and fitting for a bakery/tea shop like this, with all things pink and French making an appearance.

Update Jan 2016:
The milkshakes are to die for! Although the service was decidedly slow, even after the morning rush had calmed down.

The ultimate spot for a little TLC and relaxation while sipping on a iced chai latte and indulge in all things French. A wide assortment of baked goods , and sweet confectioners and not to mention there range of cheesecakes WOW🍰 The shop is nicely sized and has both inside and outdoor seating I suggest sitting outside , as there is music playing and a mini water feature makes for a super chilled afternoon treatment .There is also a cute cheese shop inside that prepares the most delicious cheese platter. A downer was the service which is slow , while the instore bakery staff are friendly,a big disappointment was my lavender macaron it was totally stale and dry. The chocolate croissant was not so buttery and not so "melt in your mouth " . But I highly recommend you pop by for the great atmosphere and setting. Definitely a Jozi hidden gem!!!

What a cute little restaurant in the heart of Blairgowrie!

What they do well:
Parisian style baked goods
Coffee
Brioche French toast
The staff are lovely, genuine and kind

What they could improve on:
My absolute pet peeve is when a restaurant says they serve maple syrup, when really it's golden syrup.
Their water prices are ridiculous
Their decor is beautiful and you can see a lot of love and thought has gone into it. We were there on a beautiful winters morning and unfortunately the sun was so bright it became unpleasant. Some shades might be helpful.

All in all worth a visit

I love stopping here. They have recently expanded to include a cheese section and have delicious treats and breads on offer. The staff are happy to assist and there is the addition of free wifi (unfortunately when we went it would not connect). Although it can be costly (very expensive macaroons), there are also good deals to look out for, such as the 200g of brownies for R25. Good place for a snack or sugar rush when you need it.

Was in Paris and had a proper traditional croque madam which was amazing. Came back to Joburg and wanted to find a place that made a croque madam. Found it in this cute authentic Patisserie and guess what it's just as good if not better then the one in Paris! This is a great place which combines a Patisserie a fromagerie and a boulangerie all in one. Support these guys as this place is truly original and very few like it in town. Also fair prices and crowd is not pretentious!

Very cute decor and really good place to pick up some delicious fresh bread. The menu is limited. The coffee is great though! Would recommend it as a coffee and cake date! They've just opened a little cheese shop which I intend to visit soon.

What's not to like, even though hidden away, this fantastic not so little cafe is a dream. Amazing service accompanied by the lively pink and blue decor. A menu of hearty meals and a display of amazing treats. Do yourself a solid and come through.

In my opinion the best bakery and patisserie in Jozi. The only thing I can complain about is that they don't deal effectively with bees and they often sell out of their chocolate croissants - to die for! :)

I had a fantastic breakfast here. The lyon breakfast is a smash! The poached eggs were perfectly medium and good wholesome orange-yolked eggs, not the anemic non committal yellow of wollies eggs. The coffee was great, the atmosphere lively after 9 am(sunday) and the decor sweet. The baguettes are fabulous! Highly recommend!

If you love the smell of napalm in the morning (I thought you might like the film reference? Ah well, look it up if you must Paul!), you'll probably love this little patisserie in the heart of Blairgowrie. The omelet, well in fact anything you might choose on the menu, will be not-so-gently infused with the restaurant's signature flavour: second hand cigarette smoke. Unless however, you like the loud barking of a rabid dog spitting in your face, or have a need for front row seats at a Jerry Springer show, don't ask the proprietor, the failed filmmaker Mr. Paul Zwick, about these unwanted tobacco flavours. I made the fatal mistake of asking Mr. Zwick to request that two smokers, who alternated between bites of their croissants and drags on their cigarettes, to smoke in the smoking section. Wait, there is no smoking section, so instead of explaining this decision to "do what he damn well pleases", I found myself in the unfortunate position of being the unexpected protagonist in one of Mr Zwick's poorly improvised, but highly animated, egotistical rants. It was an undeniably realistic performance from this self important superstar, and the red-faced rage and flying sputum was everything I'd expect from an Oscar winning performance, if only, of course, I'd asked for one instead of a simple three egg omelet. Beware, the audacity to request a second-hand smoke-free breakfast seems to be a hair-trigger for this highly strung restaurant proprietor. As if this magnificent performance, was somehow not enough, I was fortunate enough to get front row seats to his rendition of "watch me give a loud and aggressive, but really 'in charge' personal escort" to myself and my female friend. This performance included the loud rabid "barking" and all the requisite gesticulating you might expect from this hidden Hollywood talent. I'm not certain why my colleague was also afforded the same personal attentions of Mr Zwick, however in his mind no doubt, her mere association with a non smoker, was grounds enough for her equally vociferous extradition at his hands. For those of you who aren't convinced that if it squeals like a pig, smells like a pig and acts like a pig, it is probably a pig; then go and seat yourself at his restaurant, smell the familiar waft of cigarette smoke, and dare to ask Mr Zwick if he knows what the smoking laws in this country require from his little establishment. I need to ask that you please keep your expectations low, and don't be fooled by the baby pink and blue decor; this patisserie has all of the charm of a tantrum of a two year old brat in a candy store. If you persist and ask Mr. Zwick about the smoking laws in South Africa, make sure you like being treated mean. Paul Zwick's appreciation of his customers is strongly reminiscent of Hannibal Lector's appreciation for people.

Great coffee, attentive friendly service. Breakfast to die for with a wide variety to make all friends at the table happy. A little shopping for bread and cheese for lunch. Winning combination. Glad to finally find morning local stop in my new neighborhood.

They say they're famous for their baguette, but I think their chocolate brownies should get accolades! Their dark chocolate brownie is made with luxury Callebaut chocolate and that luxury translates into every decadent bite!

Wow disappointed to the max, ordered a croissant was delicious not the best but pretty good, cappuccino was burnt, sent it back, got the exact same coffee :(.
I had the mushroom omelette was inedible, really bad, my friend had the eggs Benedict the eggs were slimy and undercooked. Starving I ordered the chicken baguette, very nice. Don't think I will go back to eat, maybe pick up bread. Lack luster service, terrible food.

The best Eggs Benedict in JHB. Watching them grow from a small 25sqm bakery to taking over the entire building has been a treat. Highly recommend.

Patisserie de Paris has become our favourite breakfast spot! Perfectly consistent every time. I always order the Lyon breakfast with creamed exotic mushrooms and take home a tasty treat for later. Their new addition of a cheese shop goes perfectly with their fresh bread! We can't get enough!

It was an absolute pleasure to sit here in the early morning and watch the traffic go by. Poached eggs with a cream wild mushroom ragout were cooked to perfection.
To see the array of fine baked goods is way to tempting. This is anti banting at its best.
I would highly recommend a relaxed breakfast with copious cups of coffee.

Such a special place! Quaint little find, incredible treats. Love it.
A bit out the way, but such friendly staff makes my morning stop ins worthwhile

This is a cute little bakery in Blairgowrie. We had lunch there on a rainy day. It's probably even nicer when it's sunny and you can sit outside! I had the quiche lorraine and my mom tried their chocolate almond brownie. The quiche was good, very airy. But the winner was that chocolate brownie - it was delicious :). Their cappuccinos were a little too strong for my liking. Prices are very reasonable! I would love to try some of their other pastries - they looked yummy.

I am never disappointed when visiting this little gem in Blairgowrie. The eats are all fantastic and it is very difficult to choose what to get. I especially love the cheesecakes (all varieties) and their giant chocolate meringues, made with real Belgian chocolate make a great dessert addition. The service is always great and the staff and the owner are very helpful (and patient when you're being indecisive, guess they're use to it). The decor and ambiance is that of a real French patisserie.

Only downside to it is the location. Parking is a bit of an issue and the shopping center is quite old and run-down. They have expanded to the shop next-door recently, so there is a bit more space for tables inside, but maybe in time they'll be in such high demand that they can choose a new location or even start a franchise.

I saw a review of Patisserie De Paris on Facebook which compelled me to take the long journey to Blairgowrie from Kyalami. Needless to say, it was worth it.
Hidden in a grotty side road in one of the least appealing roads in the suburb, this streetwise Cafe and bakery is tucked away.. And just as well. While not the trendiest spot, it is relaxed and committed to creating phenomenal food.
The service is excellent. The Illy coffee phenomenal and the menu has been carefully though of. Every effort seems to have been taken to use the best organic and free range ingredients. They even boast an impressive range of gluten free breads and muffins that are light and fluffy as opposed to the heavy doorstops sold commercially.
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the experience and trust that as this business grows, they will relocate to a better premises (and maybe spend a bit more on the diner experience and decor) to close the loop.

Great vibe and beautiful baked goods – you can tell that a ton of effort and love went into each and every thing. A really special place to go for a treat.

What a find!! Freshest croissants and cappuccino on the way to work. Priceless. Will be back for breakfast!

Having become increasingly depressed and disillusioned with the general quality of life in Joburg over the past few years, partly or perhaps wholly because I cannot fathom a life in a city where one could not find decent bread!!!! Finally I and Johannesburg have been granted salvation! Patisserie de Paris truly has redeemed this entire city for me, because what a sad life it is when one must suffer without good bread. Surly a basic human right! The service is brilliant, it is central, the food is truly a little slice of Paris (and in the gastronomic desert that is Joburg of late, that is nothing to be scoffed at) So honestly I thank the gods of gastronomy for this small act of kindness.

I go very often to Patisserie de Paris since I believe their baguette is the best in town, made with Eureka Mills local stone ground flour.
Bruno
Paul is friendly while being very qualified in pastries and bread with French training. The croissants are light and pleasant; coffee is great; brownies crunchy-light melt-in-your-mouth, and the cream puffs are 10/10!
Will keep going back to this little piece of french pleasantry just off Conrad rd.

A friend of mine had been for lunch to PATISSERIE de Paris, just loved it and he invited me to join him for lunch on Wednesday , we got there at around 12, got a table easily, but by 12.45 the place was full. The place is homely and cute, the food was excellent. We had chicken salad and a baquette, wine ( we brought our own) . Then some friends we knew arrived and we had cuppachino , Cheesecake and almond croissants . Truelly sublime. We found out that you were closing for the Christmas and new year period. See you in the new year. The gentleman behind the counter was fantastic.
