Review Piza E Vino - Johannesburg

Paul Drew
We decided to sit outside and relax to talk over lunch. The waiter was incredibly nice and we ordered some pizza which was delicious. To my delight they had both gluten free crust as well as vegan cheese along with kalmata olives. I am only in town a few more days but will be back at least one more time to experience it again. A++

Exceptional service in a great setting! Thursday nights gets you a free upgrade from Large to Grande (extra large) pizza (excludes gluten free bases though). The gluten free base is crispy on the edges and more chewy in the middle. The regular base is thin and chewy. Our waitress, Anna, was super sweet and the managers were attentative and present (without being intrusive).

Always a great experience with a lovely staff that is friendly, quick, and efficient. The food is worth the price.

Absolutely delicious food with amazing/friendly service. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Great for date night, a family dinner or a lunch with friends. Would definitely recommend trying this lovely spot. Plus a wide variety of tasty pizzas.

The best paleo pizza base ever. I’ve always felt a little done in when ordering starch free pizza bases but not this time. We had half&half Frango Tandoori and Speedy G. Wow what a feast for the tastebuds and very reasonable. Banting options are always a hard sell….not this time. I have no problem recommending Pizza e vino highly!

Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. Heaters placed inside and outside which is great for winter. I just find the seating inside abit crampy. I ordered the Butternut & Goats Cheese Ravioli, very daring I was I must say! If you a fan of goats Cheese then go for it! The flavour is very distinct so unfortunately wasn't to my liking. Pizzas were delicious with a crispy base. Would like to visit soon & try out some other amazing dishes

The Piza e vino in groenkloof is the best! The staff is always so friendly and welcoming! Social distancing is practiced and the staff have a song which plays every 30 minutes which reminds them to wash their hands! So a very safe space! The food is great and affordable! No dress code and the specials are always a coin saver! 10/10

Good Pizza pasta burger type place. First time tried an Alfreda Pizza. Service was slow but very busy. For wheelchair people toilets are not friendly to what I can see as up 3 flights of stairs. Did not notify any lift

Great service. Food is delicious. From starter, to main and desserts. We asked fo a heater and was granted one right away. Food come thru very quick. You won’t regret. Portions are just enough not to really get you full. You’ll finish their dishes. Pasta is way too much though

Great food and great service, the whole environment gives a calming feeling and I would recommend it for a date

Lovely spot to go out for lunch or dinner. The Melrose area is beautiful. The restaurant is quite big and has a nice outdoor section. Service was okay, pizza was good. Would recommend

The drinks and food were the best and the staff was amazing ,I love it and will definitely be returning 😊

My family was enjoy the pizza and pasta. It was load shedding but it didnt affect the taste of food.

When I arrived there was no sanitizing, temperature monitoring etc. the whole time I was there no one came and wiped my table with sanitizer. Basically I didn’t see any regulations being followed besides masks. Food also took forever to arrive. A bit disappointed.

First time we came here the service was great and each time we come back it slips. Love the pizza
The Schoeman Brothers
This restaurant has very tasty food and good shakes. I came here for a party with my cousins and others, and there’s a very upbeat, friendly ambience. The decorations are paintings and pictures on the walls and the place has very elegant architecture. Service is good and friendly and their pizzas are very tasty. Only suggestion is that there’s less fat on the bacon for the pizzas. I recommend this place for a drink with friends or for a quick bite.

Quiz night... music and sound just toooooo loud!! Even sitting far away, then get forgotten by waiter although he was polite... 2nd time very loud, doubt we will back <br/>Food ok but even though ordered take away when mains delivered still waited over 15 minutes <br/>Sorry, not again

Great pizza and pasta here. I had a function with a set menu and everyone enjoyed their meals. There is also a good selection of drinks and a bar area.

This is one of my favorite franchises! <br/><br/>The service is professional, helpful and friendly.<br/><br/>The food at this particular one was not amazing, although it was tasty. The portions seemed to be sized-down. In addition, the Gordon’s cocktail has done away with but it is still on the menu- increasing the spend to Tanquery. I found this a little odd.<br/><br/>The music was good. The ambiance was fantastic. Really a gem!<br/><br/>Oh, the Polaroid picture idea? Genius!
Kerishini Venketroyalu
The food is slightly overrated and overpriced. It isn't all that great. However, the service is impeccable and the manager is very kind and helpful.

A lovely italian joint for Monday specials. I enjoyed the black on white pizza which was really tasty. My favorite was how perfect their pizza bases were.

Sorry but the pizza is not worth the money in the slightest... minimal toppings for a high price... I would rather go to pannarottis... not pleased at all
Joshua Levi
Awful service. Had to go fetch a waiter at all times. Also at 21:30 they started playing rave music which was entirely inappropriate and loud for a family restaurant.
Bella G
The staff here are always helpful and informed. I love that they have to option to swap out pasta for zucchini noodles. Good for dinner and drinks
Craig Taylor
3rd bad experience in a row. Weak management, average food, overpriced drinks and waiters more interested in watching football than serving patrons.
Ilovefood
I would give it no stars but just cannot do that. Service was shocking waited 30 minutes to get served, 30 minutes for 2 pizzas to arrive, and then the waiter had the audacity to tell us at the end that the tip we gave him was not 10%. Utterly rude and disrespectful, will not be coming here again.

I just love the pizzas from Piza E Vino. There is nothing as terrible as taking a bite from a microwaved or oven baked pizza. A pizza HAS to be made in a clay pizza oven - and luckily that is how Piza E Vino make their pizzas.<br/><br/>Before our pizzas arrived, we had some cold slightly dry bread. This was a bit of a disappointment as we really hoped for warm fresh bread to use to dip into olive oil and balsamic.<br/><br/>We shared a few pizzas (always the best idea).<br/>I have always liked the Melrose Arch pizza from Piza E Vino, but this time they places really hars pieces of avo on it. After the third slice, I begged for fresh avo to be brought to the table as the avo that was on the pizza was as hard as a frozen avo. Really ruined the pizza. The second was a beefy boy. Both Cyprian and I agreed this was a great surprise. We really enjoyed the onion topping but felt they could have been more generous with the beef bits. The third pizza we had was the James Brown. I really enjoyed this pizza.<br/><br/>For dessert I had the tirimisu. This was nicely served.<br/><br/>I loved the waiter, Bradly who was very helpful, together with his team and the manager. Over all, Piza E Vino is a great place to go with a few friends for a nice glass of wine and some good pizza. (Just make sure they put fresh avo on the pizza)<br/><br/>

So we’ve decided to go watch the champions league finale at Piza e vino since there was a bring screen outside where it was playing.<br/>We sat outside, it was very cold at some point but our waiter managed to bring all of us blankets and heaters.<br/>The food was very nice and he was always there to refill our drinks.

If you work in the arch and need quick service in your lunch hour - this is the place to go. We go here often purely based on the fact we know that we can be in and out of there in an hour. Food is always excellent! Service is great and you can order before hand if you have big groups. Fun vibes here after work hours - try their Calzone and tagliatelle pollo primadonna - so worth it!
Nicole Kruger
If you looking for a vegaterian meal, I highly recommend you try this Rossa Pizza with the gluten free base pizza. The flavours are amazing. Best gluten free pizza I have ever had. We also tried the Zucchini Fritters. They were unbelievable.<br/>Our waiter Treasure, was so good to us too. Awesome evening all round. 🍕🙋

great place to chill. very good pasta and pizza. selection of wine also good. Wonder what happened to James Brown pizza and Melrose Arch pizzas. those are my favourites at this joint

I had a friends bday lunch today. Service was so slow. Yes we were a large table but we booked beforehand and the place was pretty empty. I had to ask 4 times for one glass of wine. We waited@ ages for starters which were arranged before guests arrived. We had to ask 3 times for the cake which was also prearranged. I had a mushroom burger. Usually mushroom sauce is a creamy mushroom filled sauce. This was a few mushrooms and a tasteless thin sauce, not nearly enough sauce for the dry burger. The side salad was Delicious. Pastas and pizza had by others were better. Not somewhere id rush back to Gabriel Levy

Friday night 22nd December a total nightmare. <br/>Been here 1hr 50 minutes.and the food never came.<br/>A total dissapointment. <br/>management sorted the bill <br/>A redeeming factor .<br/>If you cant cope dont do it.<br/>1 out of 10.

What a brilliant pizza , served with Freash ingredients and the services was first class. This restaurant is a unsung hero! This is the second time we eaten here and it’s fantastic food! Well done

Was was there on my second visit with my lady, usual we go to the one in Rosebank. We fell in love with it all over again. Amazing service, lovely ambiance and the food is always fresh and of exceptional quality. We were seated under the staircase when unfortunately a staff member dropped he's drinks tray and it spilled on us, Most of the staff came over to apologise for the inconvenience and moved us to a other table. Without too much time spent they had given us new drinks and pizza to make up for the mishap. They also continued to make sure we were okay and asked if there's anything else they can do to make us feel better about the incident. We loved their response and the level of intimacy they gave us and therefore we will continue to visit them as our favourite pizzeria in Johannesburg.

2017-11-04<br/>A very nice place for business or family gathering. Stunning view, good food, nice drinks menu. I love their service, efficient and friendly waiters. Whether it's pizza or pasta or salads you'll erouse the Italian within you 😉
FatCake101
First of all I must say that the setting is very nice, and enjoyable. <br/><br/>Their hot chocolates are something really different and special. Instead of just a normal cup of hot chocolate, they prepare a hot cup of milk with melted chocolate in a jug on the side to pour in. Which is a very clever idea as everyone's taste in sweetness differ. <br/><br/>The pizza's are very amazing too, but the service may be a bit slow. Staff are very friendly but a little forgetful, I had to order my water 3 times until it actually arrived. Or else overall, this is somewhere that I'd like to visit again.

Good piźza and the original Piza E Vino, a nice place for piźza if your in the area. Fresh and tasty choices of piźza with good service. Fresh and delicious. Worth the visit and the carbs.

Piza E Vino Melrose Arch is my go to pizza and craft beer place when I don't feel like cooking, as they're situated within a five minute drive from my house. I wouldn't say their pizzas are my favourite; they aren't bad, but I have a few places in mind that do pizzas far better. What stands out for me at this establishment, and perhaps why I keep coming back, is the stellar service. Pamela in particular is one of the friendliest waitresses I've ever encountered and they'd be unwise not to promote her. She's a major asset to the team. Overall the restaurant is an inviting space, similar to the other franchises, supported by great staff. Feel free to have a bite here.

Sadly I have to say that I was disappointed with the food here. I went for a simple margarita pizza...the cheese wasn't enough and the pizza tasted dry. My friend had the Americano pizza which was awfully salty. I must say I like the changes made to the aesthetics...has a more open feel.
Shushu
The service was very good , and the food was Cooked to perfection.<br/><br/>As a starter, we ordered parmesan wings. I must say they're one of the best I've had. Slight downside is the portion is a little small.<br/><br/>For the main I ordered The Seafood pasta -with cream (not too sure of the actual name on the menu) was just perfect. The texture of of pasta was al dente and the sauce was packed with flavour. The portions of the dishes are well considered and is the perfect amount.<br/><br/>The pizza was crispy and had a "home made" feel to it. Would recommend.<br/>

I come to Melrose Arch often, but I've never really noticed the Piza E Vino. We tried some pizza here last night and we were a bit underwhelmed.<br/><br/>The setting is beautiful outside. They even had heaters and blankets because of the chilly weather. Service was relatively good, but the pizzas were way below average.<br/><br/>I ordered the Salami Plus and shared with a friend who had a Margherita (I always say that a good pizza place can be judged on their basic Margheritas). Our one friend ordered the Speedy G and we all found our pizza extremely dry and lacking in flavour. The pizzas weren't horrible, but I expected much better for the price.<br/><br/>We were so disappointed that we didn't even want to order coffees or desserts afterwards.
Charlene Dos Ramos
I visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon, we were seated quickly and attended to, service was efficient. Food however was slightly disappointing, the Italian Burger was good but nothing amazing, Pollo pasta very average, pizza with chicken on very dry. Also got served hot chocolate where the milk smelt and tasted sour- overall disappointing experience- most definitely won't return.
Paul Von Zeuner
Extremely slow service. I can see why Piza eVino is the restaurant with the least amount of customers in Melrose food court. Other restaurants have queues here are open seats for the masses. If only the food was half as good as the drinks. Would come here for a cocktails but order food from the place next door.
Nyathiwitness
What a lovely service we got ..i still cant believe it<br/>..her smile was amazing..Nobuhle was just amazing u know for a customer who is not having food but just drinking but to get that kind of service it's superb
Zoe Lansdell
This is a tough one for me... My pizza was probably one of the yummiest pizzas I've had in a really long time. But the service was shocking. We came here with a big group and waited over 20 minutes for drink orders. The restaurant was busy, but the orders were nothing crazy. Just come beers and cool drinks. A few cocktails on an earlier order so I can understand the delay there, but not just for a beer order. Everyone seemed please with their food though. SO that's definitely a plus.

04.02.2017 I've been to this branch many times before and always enjoyed it. I hadn't been back since the revamp but had booked this spot to partake in The Pink Table Project. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and we had so many different waiters coming to say hello and check up on us that it got confusing. We ordered starters I had the Zucchini fries which I have been craving for a while and was disappointed that it's now round bites and not the strips it use to be so the flavour was different but nice. The rest of the table had the Melanzane Parmigiana, Insalata Verdune, Gamberi and the Carpaccio. All went down well and we were ready for some more. <br/><br/>I ordered my usual Cosmopolitan to drink and it was good ( except missing the usual Cherry inside) <br/><br/>For mains we mainly ordered Pizza. I was disappointed with my pizza as the Base was slightly soggy and not much toppings. I had the Melrose Arch pizza which had Chicken, Cherry tomatoes, Feta, Honey, Avo and Coriander. The others has the Black on white with another choice for the other half and the Puzzona - Butternut, Bacon and Gorgonzola cheese pizza. <br/><br/>As the night went on our waiters got more scarce during the evening. We were now ready for dessert. I had the Dark Chocolate Fondant with White Lindt Chocolate inside. It was nice but it wasn't wow. The Peaches and Cream Vanilla Panna Cotta was completely tasteless unless you had the Peach Compote that was on the side. Same goes the Mixed Berry Brulee it was bland. It was all missing flavour. <br/><br/>Regardless we had an awesome night just sitting and chatting and stayed till the end... the music or rather the live band was a bit loud at times which could be slightly toned down.

What was supposed to be a fun a social evening between friends became one of the most uncomfortable evenings ever and that mainly due to the restaurant and its poor poor service... the waiter was mia for most of the evening and even when we spotted him we had to scream for him at the top of our lungs to success. The food came an hour after we ordered. And for some reason they decided to have a guy playing guitar and singing songs which im not against if the space in the restaurant was adequate enough for it. Instead he was shoved in the corner and blasting his music on such a high level my friends and i had to basically hold a shouting match conversation for the entire evening. We couldn't even hear what the other person was saying which resulted in us yelling at each other. And then despite the poor service our waiter gave us and the fact we had to play hide and seek with him at the restaurant... for things like cutlery and glasses of water ... he had the audacity to hold us back on the pretense we didn't pay our bill.. when in fact he didnt count one of the payments purposefully so that we would pay extra so he would get a larger tip which he didn't deserve... never going back here... especially since we all left with massive headaches

The food and service at this branch were both satisfactory. The restaurant was not extremely full and we waited quite a while for our drinks and main course to be served. The cutlery was also not clean. <br/>The food was okay but in my opinion not of the same standard as the other branches I frequent. I ordered the black on white and found which had hardly any feta.

Really Dissapointed with the Manager onsite at PIZAeVino Melrose today. My mum slipped on what looked like a piece of pepper while walking down the stairs after visiting the ladies room upstairs. She is visiting from Durban and I ranted and raved to her about this place only to be dissapointed at the lack of acknowledgment or care from the manager today. He did not visit our table to find out if she was ok. He just walked away. The other customers showed care and concern whilst none of the staff or managers did. My mum is in extreme pain after her fall today and I am furious that management did nothing !!!

It's was a weekend and Piza E Vino was packed, we could only get a table outside. Service was slow and most times waiter forgot about us. <br/><br/>Pizza was ok, pizza was under done and by the time it reached us it was cold. Have not been back!
Chris Sawyer
Such a great vibe, nice design and always amazing food. <br/><br/>This Piza e Vino has been a firm favourite of mine for about 5 years. I have never had an off-putting experience and it's an awesome place to take people whether for a slightly more formal business meal, a comfortable weekend dinner or a quick week day lunch. <br/><br/>Their pizzas are to die for.. In particular, the aptly titled Melrose Arch. This is proper pizza! It's not swimming in sauce or lying on an overly yeasty thick trashy base. <br/><br/>Another pro for this place is its general manager Will, who has exceptional customer-handling skills, a cheery disposition and makes for a pleasant management-engagement experience. He understands your problem the first time you tell it to him and fixes it in brilliant speed. <br/><br/>Always a favourite! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Kat
Fabulous pizza!  Absolutely love it, crispy base, flavourful toppings...mmm! The choices on the menu are extensive and every taste and preference is catered for.

Really a beautiful restaurant, with gorgeous decor and super friendly and efficient service. Absolutely love the food at Piza E Vino just find it a little limiting as there are no fish options, only seafood but still a great place to go
Treemonkey JL
Props for the location and also the chatter that sounds like white noise. Food comes quick and everyone minds Their own business. Came here at 19:00 on a Saturday.

After not having pizza for ages, it was loooong overdue. Decided on this place, and glad I did. Think I was last here 2-3 years ago. Setting is great overlooking the piazza, perfect for Jhb summer nights. The service is great. Waiters always checking up and very friendly and pleasant which is makes your dining experience that much more pleasing, with the same from the management - checking up how you enjoyed the meal and looking for feedback ( shows they are keen for ongoing improvement). As for the food, Divine! definitely one of the best pizza places out there. No skimping on the toppings, good quality ingredients and great variety on the menu. If you looking for a great pizza, this is the place.
Sheryll
Not much you can say here as the name speaks for itself <br/>Pizza - good <br/>Vino - good <br/><br/>Reasonably priced and good variety of flavours.<br/><br/>Sometimes it gets quite dark in the evening, so don't have a business dinner there, rather a date night.
YUM
The pizza is always good here and the staff are friendly. There is a warm and trendy atmosphere on the upper levels of the restaurant and you can rely on having a good meal out.
Nel
Came here for a friends 25th lunch. Patio area is great for lounging in the afternoon sun (depending on where you sit as there is a roof) and sipping on a sangria. The pizza was good however I didn't get as full as one usually does when going to grab a pizza. I went on a weekday and it was relatively quiet so if you're keen on some me time do pop into this restaurant and you will be duly accommodated.
Benoit Le Roy
Salad very cheaplyput together with beef a tenth of what is expected for 30% more in price than their neighbours. Ambience is good and wine very well priced
Tey Carter
I am not a huge pizza person but I must mention the pizzas here. <br/>The ingredients are fresh and the crust is so thin I am convinced it has no calories! <br/><br/>The shops are usually quite spacious so perhaps that is how the waiters can be slow. I have been to Rosebank, Melrose and Morningside shops- The service is mediocre at the most'

This cute little place really hit all the right notes with me. After having countless takeaway pizzas that my dad brings home from them; in a sudden twist of events I found myself having dinner here. The food was really great, the meat I ordered was cooked to perfection and the salad my friend ordered looked just as amazing. I had a pomegranate cocktail and it was really lovely and their cappacino was truly spectacular. The decor is homely and comforting and the waiters were efficient and pleasant. Truly a wonderful dining experience.
Monique Pereira
We were pleasantly surprised with the food at Piza e Vino. Their menu has a vide variety and the drinks menu is also good!<br/>The focaccia was thin and crispy and satisfying! We also had the pulled pork burger and sesame chicken salad which was really tastey! For dessert I recommend the chocolate fondant which was cooked to perfection! <br/>However, the steak tagliatelle was very garlicy and almost inedible which we didn't enjoy.
Carel Böhmer
I love that Piza E Vino have added a quaint bar section to their Melrose Arch venue. It adds a great option if your stuck in this venue and have to wait some time out. As well as avoiding the congestion in the square and finding a secluded hide away.<br/>Cheers!
Amy Lara Baxter
Had such a great meal here last night! The pizzas were all absolutely divine and the lint chocolate fondant was one of the best I have had in a while!! Service was fast and efficient! Food took a little time to come out after we ordered. All in all a lovely evening. Sitting upstairs is a lot nicer in a cold evening.
GOODATEATING
Pasta should be on everyone's feel good lists // Pizza E Vino is a really cute little place to eat at. It had a fairly open seating plan, with lots of sun that hits your back when you get the right seats, and also a cosy indoor seating. This is the kind of place you come to for a lazy Saturday afternoon lunch. When you're looking to get out your house but not feel choked by other people and their presence. <br/>The pasta is enjoyable. It's not life changing, but it's made better than you would do it yourself. It's good enough for you to want to come back and eat it. So much pasta = So much happiness. <br/>I came with my best friends for a catch up lunch and it's nice cause the comfort allows you to turn the restaurant into your own lounge, and really get to chill and eat and speak. It has a really family orientated vibe so this is the place you bring someone you're really familiar with.<br/><br/>I really enjoyed the comfort that came with the restaurant. I feel when a restaurant offers more than just good food, but also a comfortable easy experience, it makes one want to choose this place over others.

Went for a friends birthday party. Although having to sit outside in the cold the food was decent. I liked the option of the paleo based pizza - great if you on a low carb diet.

The original Piza e Vino and this was my first time here in all these years! Stop the press lol!<br/><br/>I have frequented the Rosebank outlet several times and am fully aware of what to expect, and was very impressed with the quality of service we received. I've been craving a super cheesey pizza for so long and was recommended the James Brown, which wasn't the right amount of cheesiness for me and so I requested a extra bit of mozzarella to be melted over the delicious toppings! My friends opted to share the paleo 50/50 and boy was I impressed with the base. I'm anti anything that advocates going absolutely carb free and I've heard a few horror stories about gluten free options, so I usually stay clear of any banting food. This Base however was molto delizioso and perfect for carb free days or anyone who is banting! The 50/50 option was the Deconstructed Schwarma and another underwhelming option - Beef Boy, the Deconstructed Schwarma pizza truly is amazing! Full of flavour and went so well with the paleo base I could actually eat that pizza the banting way forever.<br/><br/>In the many times I've walked past Piza e Vino I never realised they had a bar, so we headed back there to have a few shooters, the vibe was a bit mature tonight and mostly men but it really looks like a great spot to go for 'just drinks' or a little debauchery after a good meal and the bar men are super friendly and nice!<br/><br/>The experience was really great, you can go from a cosy meal in the main restaurant to a vibey drinking session in the bar within a few steps and your tummy will be deeply satisfied with the lovely pizza options! I'll definitely be visiting this outlet more often!<br/><br/>*Recommendation: Banting Base (paleo) is absolutely delicious and a great option for a carb free day. The deconstructed schwarma pizza truly is a gem!

Came here last night with my boyfriend and was pleasantly surprised. <br/>The pizzas were really good and well priced. <br/>All the staff and manager were very friendly and attentive to us which is always a positive in my books! <br/>The craft cocktails was a real treat but were fairly pricey! <br/>Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and because of the amount of money we ended up paying (next to nothing) we will definitely be back! <br/>
Kat :)
Get that mmmm-yum taste!! I dig this place - excellent fast service, superb pizza - crisp base, delectable toppings and perfect flavour combinations. The prices are higher than many average pizza joints, yes, but who wants average....
LuluFromJozi
So many reviewers had a terrible time here, but I did hope for the best and was pleasantly surprised. Service, seating and food was good. Waiters and other staff also friendly. We had a billing issue where they overcharged us for the whiskey, as the barman gave us a different quite than on the final bill, but the manager was very happy to sort it out and adjusted it to an agreeable amount.
Sarah
Piza e Vino has always been a great experience, no matter which branch I've gone to. However, this particular branch really takes service to the next level and the staff are really friendly, welcoming and have a great sense of humour.<br/><br/>On this specific day, I fell in love with the glass my GnT came in, and the manager noticed this, and actually gave me the glass when we left! Such a divine touch and really going the extra mile.<br/><br/>They serve the best thin crust pizza's and they are willing to switch out pizza toppings without charging - something I noticed when I wanted to change my pizza to a vegetarian friendly option and it was great not to be charged extra - something many places do.<br/><br/>A great spot for a Sunday afternoon drinks or lunch.
Hang T
Very nice setting for dinner and drinks with friends. Even though the place is huge, it does get quite full but not overly crowded. Service was a bit slow but still better than some other place I've been to for Saturday night. Their shakes are a bit too sweet but the pizza is great!
Paula Baetu
Something bad is happening at this branch, both times I have been here recently my food has been bland. I've had to add salt, pepper and garlic to taste up my food. My paleo pizza came half burned on the edges and the Melrose Arch topping was not as good as I have remembered in the past. Please up your food to become tasty like it used to be. I still give 3 because there are some good points regarding your food I have had and that my friends have had. Such as your pasta and zucchini fries which are yum.
Natasha Lutz
We haven't come here for a while and noticed their revamp so decided to go in. The pizzas are generous and tasty, although I do find that it seems expensive for a pizza. The service was just ok,in the beginning it was good but we tried to find our waiter for the rest of the time. We will be back with friends to use their new bar area
Davina Kindersley
Really yummy pizzas, had a lovely time. They made the effort to find me a blanket when I was cold! An awesome effort and really appreciate the service.
Kelsy Moodley
It was fine. I was trying to avoid having pizza so got the squid salad instead. It tasted good but the cook was a bit heavy handed with the olive oil. Ended up having a slice of my friends chicken tikka pizza and it tasted nice. I've had better pizza bases elsewhere. Service is fine. Atmosphere is good. Nice for a weekday dinner.
Nicola Slyper
I haven't been back here since they renovated and to be honest I was a little disappointed. While there is a good atmosphere and the service is relatively good, I was let down by the food. <br/><br/>I had the spinach and ricotta dumplings with penne in a tomato based sauce. The dumplings were more just spinach balls, I don't think I'd classify them as dumplings. They were tasty at least. The sauce was done very sparingly which made the meal dry. I then decided to leave half of it to have for lunch the following day. Alas this was not meant to be as it just never arrived back and the person who cleared the table said she didn't hear me, nothing they can do. Perhaps it's best to just stick to the pizzas.
Michelle
New decor is very inviting.<br/>Service is good and attentive.<br/>Food, well the idea of eating a pizza you have never eaten is more exciting than eating it, most of us were kinda disappointed with what we ordered.<br/>So sometimes making up pizza's people have never thought of putting together can backfire as it did with us.<br/>I think I will stick to already proven good pizza's.
Nikita
I really do enjoy the vibe here on the weekends, and highly recommend it if you feel like being outdoors on a hot summer's evening. It really is such a lovely experience, especially because I get the feeling of being in Europe! Truthfully, I cannot really speak to their food, as I mostly go there for the cocktails. They have quite an extensive menu filled with interesting and exciting drinks. I love it.
Laura Broccardo
An amazing dinner once again. The asparagus starter is absolutely divine!Tony our waiter was great. Food was awesome!!! Happiness all round.

Hadn't been here since their re-vamp. Quite disappointed that their garlic pizza twists are no longer on their menu. Must say I didn't find the menu over-inspiring and just settled for a vet boring margarita pizza. Their pizza's are great - perfect thin base. When we asked for a menus as we were thinking of dessert we were brought 1 menu. I know many restaurants seem to do this and I am mystified as to why that is!! We ordered and the waiter said he would go and check availability. A while later he brought back a plate with 2 spoons so we assumed what we ordered was available. Quite a while after that ... still waiting. The waiter then spotted us and clearly had forgotten to bring the desserts which he then did. My chocolate fondant was delicious, my friend said her creme brûlée was awful. So overall - average meal, less than average service, absolutely no interaction from management except when a manager ran to bid us farewell as we left!! Won't be back in a hurry.

We has 22 people for dinner last night, we planned to have it at Jb corner Melrose, but they wouldn't take our booking, so we moved it to Piza Vino and we were so impressed! We had exceptional service from our waiter Wanda and the food was stunning and pretty much came out at the same time. We highly recommend it and will definitely be back! 👌🏼

I have always enjoyed Piza e Vino but today was complete let down. Came through for a light lunch and had the lemon and chilli chicken skewers... first of all the meal took super long to get to the table... there was no lemon or lime in my chicken everything was cold, dry and just plain urgh !!!! The 2 is because the beer was super cold!!!!

The recently renovated venue offers both an outside deck and upstairs area that overlook the Melrose Arch square. All staff are very friendly. There a few new items to the menu. The chicken and asparagus pasta was a great combination. Although, I think there could have been more asparagus. The pizza base was a little thick for my liking. <br/><br/>There is a separate bar and I will be back to try.

<br/>Went for lunch, no black label or castle beer. They want you to spend R60 for a craft beer, no cola tonic or passion fruit either. Really ? Great Zumanism ideas from management.

Had dinner at the newly renovated Piza E Vino. I must say that the new spot is a great set up, especially the deck area which is great for sundowners. I had the picanha which was pretty good and my mate had a pizza which he said was average. Service started out like a house on fire but then rapidly deteriorated. It's as if they woo you in by doting initially and then forget about you. One harsh criticism is the red wine (bottle) we ordered was way too warm. Remember , room temperature in Europe is not the same as room temperature in JHB during a heatwave. We had to get ice for it. Overall pretty decent and well priced.

Had a team lunch at the Melrose outlet on Monday, 7th Dec. We were the only diners at the time that we placed and received our order. Pizza is average. Nothing to rave about. Service, however is absolutely appalling. Waiters are standing around totally oblivious to the customers. Bad service is even more unacceptable when considering that they were not even busy.

After a walk about the Melrose Christmas Market, to say we were ravanis is am understatement. Six starving friends popped into Piza E Vino. We were seated quickly in the noisy bar area and placed our drink orders quickly, after 30min of waiting we found a table on the third floor and moved up there. There were dirty plates and glasses on every table. After 45min I went downstairs to ask the manager to please send up someone to clear all the plates and ask for our drink orders. After an hour we decided to rather leave. We were all completely dissapointed by the lack of service. The menu looked amazing and the food delicious but a couple of remarks around us on the slow service and a wait of up to an hour for food orders. A wait with good service can be justified but the wait combined with bad service is just unacceptable. Garrick Clark

It's our first visit back since the renovations. As always, great pizza options and tough to choose. I opted for a half Zucco half Italian Stallion. Zucco was delish but won't choose Italian Stallion again - too sweet. Service was good and the waiter made a few jokes and engaged with us. What lets the place down is the lighting. The new place is dark. Very dark. You have a tiny candle lamp on the table and little else. We could not read the menu, nor see what we are eating. You can tell from photos. Even tables next to ours were using the torch on their phones to read the menu. Not on. When we left, there was a queue. Definitely worth it for the pizzas!

Last night was my first visit here since they reopened after renovations. We decided to visit The Bar and were seated and asked to move as that specific table was reserved (there was no sign of that). The service was extremely slow but the manager did inform us that they were understaffed everyone would be receiving 15% off the bill for that.<br/><br/>We all ordered drinks and had a pleasant time. The wine list consists of 5 Durbanville Hills wines so that's a bit average. The craft beer selection was large. The atmosphere was great. To start we had patata croquettes which we all enjoyed. For mains I had the Crazy Nut to share, an old favourite. It was nice that they served on two boards. The rest of the table had pizza too and enjoyed it.<br/><br/>Overall it was a pleasant evening out which was prolonged due to slow service but we all enjoyed ourselves and the food.

The new Piza e Vino is beautiful! The managers are great. They come to your table to ask if everything is fine on a regular basis. Waiters are very quick and friendly. And pizza and wine is one of my favourite combos so the experience is pretty good!

Where to start? I know the restaurant has been revamped.. And looks good... BUT maybe management needs a revamp too!The service was unfriendly & rude. The manager was arrogant and our waitress had no knowledge of the menu or food. The glasses still had lipstick marks from previous patrons. My pizza was "Crazy Nut" was served without Gorgonzola cheese & when I complained the manager told me they had put it on. Arguing with customers!! They also forgot the Calamari on a "calamari" dish the people next to us had ordered. There Paleo pizza base taste, looks and smells like dog pellets, actually maybe dog pellets would have been better! Don't be fooled by the presentation of the food.. The food is awful! Go and spend your money somewhere else, where the food taste better and staff are friendlier!!!!

My daughter decided to take 20 friends to this restaurant for lunch to celebrate her 14th birthday. Patrick made the reservation for me and was waiting for the girls on arrival. He and his team ensured me that the girls would be well looked after and safe. The girls had a wonderful time, ate delicious food and were constantly checked on by Patrick and his team. The team then proceeded to sing to her which she loved. The whole celebration was extra special because of the fantastic service and the way that all the staff celebrated her day with her. Thank you Patrick and all your amazing staff, the kitchen staff and management for making my childs birthday so incredibly special!

Celebrated a friend's birthday here and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The new revamped restaurant is really nice.<br/><br/>The service is average, but the food more than makes up for it.<br/><br/>Before main meals, we enjoyed some very nice table salads - then again, anything topped with bacon is a good meal! <br/><br/>I ordered the medium Carpaccio d' Amore pizza - Carpaccio, strawberries, caramelised onions and rocket. A divine combination! The size is perfect as a meal for 1.<br/>The sangria is a nice drink to pair with the pizza.

Piza e Vino's motto is "Love & Pizza unite the world"! <br/>Piza e Vino's franchise in Melrose Arch is so far my favourite (with its stunning, upmarket BAR area) and it has a wonderful vibe. For a relaxed weekend meal and great value for money, one cannot go wrong with sampling their comprehensive pizza options and having a big glass of "vino" here. <br/>*Recommendation: I would highly recommend getting a group of friends together on a Friday or Saturday night and sitting in their festive, newly opened 'bar' area for your meal instead of the outside seating!<br/><br/>For more, find me on Twitter: LaurasW0rld

Absolutely delicious pizza. I love it when pizza is made the classic Italian-style in a wood fire and coupled with their smooth tomato base, I could go on for days about their pizza, I even managed to eat like 5 different ones from all my friends. The restaurant was styled well having 3 levels for people to enjoy their meals. Thank you for having reasonably priced Durbanville hills wine, the selection is impressive. The service was adequate, we did rely on 3 waiters to service our table though, thanks for that. Lastly, nice touch with the manager ensuring that we are thanked on the way out.

I was always a fan of Piza e Vino, and now since the revamp, even bigger fan. And with the addition of The Bar area, it’s added a whole new dimension to the restaurant. And while you’re at The Bar area, do try one of the craft beers. <br/><br/>Last week, I organized to have my birthday dinner with a group of 15. Their staff were absolutely fantastic in helping me organize it, letting me bring in my own cupcakes, letting me pre-order starters for the table as to have them ready when guests arrived and just all around provided us with great service. So thank you so much!<br/><br/>The food too, I am happy to report, is still of the same high quality as before the revamp. My personal favourite, the Black on White pizza (large-R85), topped with black mushrooms, Kalamata olives, feta, garlic & basil, went down well once again. The other guests also left feeling very satisfied with their choices.<br/><br/>The staff also spoiled me with a cocktail on the house for my birthday!<br/><br/>The interior is looking rather inviting, sleek and more spacious in a way, with more appeal for the upstairs section which never seemed to attract any patrons before. <br/><br/>Thank you to the Piza e Vino team for a great dining out experience.

Came here with a group of 8 adults and 8 kids <br/>Service was slow :(<br/>No dairy free dessert options we living in the 21st century ... 😜<br/>Ordered 2 risottos - very tasty <br/>Ordered 2 wheat free pastas - pesto was good<br/>The Malfati - was dry<br/>Pizza was good <br/>For me though the food was good, service is a huge deal!! 😏<br/>Waiter battled to keep up 😔<br/>AND☝🏽the caramelized Apple pudding - the sauce was SUPER GONE OFF!!! 😡😷😖😫<br/>

Attentive waitron and great food!! Will always go back for the Melrose Arch Pizza or the Seafood Pasta! The revamp with the new bar area is a big plus too!

Very impressed with the newly revamped Piza e Vino at Melrose Arch. The interiors look amazing and the bar section is world class. The pizza is always fantastic and the service is good. The pricing is a bit on the high side but it's what you would expect from a top class establishment.

We decided to try the newly revamped Piza E Vino in Melrose Arch. They've been closed for some time during renovations and looked very warm and inviting on a chilling spring evening. We were greeted by warm & friendly waiters and offered a range of their craft beers. <br/><br/>We ordered the wild mushroom risotto and carbonara pastas. Although the meals weren't bad at all, they weren't amazing. The carbonara was loaded with bacon, however overall it was a bit dry and lacked the saucy goodness it's known for. The dish came with a slice of bread to mop up the sauce but there wasn't very much. The risotto was packed with flavour. I think Piza E Vino is better known for their pizzas (from trying their Rosebank branch). I'm definitely gonna try their pizzas next time to make a fair assessment. <br/><br/>If you're looking for a new craft beer hangout in Joburg, this might have the makings of an institution. Time and craft beer will tell.

Piza e Vino is not all about the pizza but you cannot not have a pizza when you there. When you go with a group make sure someone orders a pizza so you can have a nibble...cheeky :) I always ask for the specials as theres something interesting which always catches my eye. This time was the squid salad with baby spinach and parmesan shavings. It did not taste like a salad it tasted like a sin;). Another must is the chocolate fondant which is done to perfection. ...see the chocolate gooing out.

Great pasta and pizza! Love the atmosphere and the nice flat thin base pizza, fresh ingedients and great menu selection. Would highly recommend for italian food lovers

I have been here a few times already. I love the beef boy especially with some garlic and chilli. The tandoori chicken is really good as well and you can half and half so you get the best of both. Service is okay.

Trying to have a quick lunch in Melrose Arch on a Saturday is impossible but off to Piza e Vino we went and, magically, we managed to find a table just as we arrived.<br/><br/>As always the service was friendly and our drinks were promptly brought to us but alas it was the last prompt interaction with our waiter. <br/><br/>Because it was so busy, our waiter took several minutes to return for our food order which itself took what seemed an eternity to arrive. <br/><br/>I had a Melrose Arch pizza, a fantastic combination of chicken, avo, feta, cherry tomatoes and honey. It was, as always, delicious and worth every one of the 11500 cents it costs. <br/><br/>Lesson of the day, when Piza e Vino is busy don't expect to eat any time soon, but when you do it'll be delicious.

The Italian stallion is amazing... and the service here is good too. The staff are friendly and chatted to our whole table before and after the meal. We even took selfies with them. I don't like that their paleo base is not available for medium pizzas though... but maybe that's just me.

A really fantastic restaurant with great staff and fantastic cocktails. I love the variety of the pizzas and I am always trying something new. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves pizzas.
