Where to start. Had one very pleasant evening. There were 6 of us and we chose to sit outdoors. Weather was perfect. Although loadshedding was in progress the generator they have took care of the power.
The proprietors are exceptional, mother and daughter in law. You certainly won't find more friendly people anywhere.
Great authentic Italian food. Pasta dishes were exceptional.
Will be back soon.

A really cosy restaurant, great for winter nights or cold evenings. I had the rabit ravioli and it was so delicious. Really well prepared and tasty, the meat was succulent and soft. Also tried some of my friends risotto and generally all the food on our table was really delicious. There’s not much I can fault the restaurant on, service was friendly and the hostess was very attentive, however I was bothered by the cat that was walking around the restaurant, I really hate seeing Pets walking around in a place for dining.

Such exquisite food in a lovely setting -- inside a fireplace and outside under the huge trees in the garden. Today, my third visit as a grateful guest learning about true Italian cooking -- Up to now I enjoyed the risotto with mushrooms, ravioli with fresh asparagus (yum), steak tartare (a delicious surprise), fillet the Italian way, profiteroles for dessert .... most enjoyable, relaxing with excellent service (there, yet not there). Most important of all, a lovely Italian lady in charge of her kitchen and cooking with her heart (and her family at hand). I had to come all the way from Pretoria to be introduced to this jewel -- it is always new. Thank you for a magnificent experience every time..... Dr Blignaut

Amazing italian food, cozy place and friendly staff.
One of my favourite spot in Joburg.
We had their homemade ravioli, shared a couple of starters (the best was the artichoke cooked in white wine and garlic) and the dessert (fabulous bignè with cream and chocolate!).

Will definitely come back soon!

Special find in Sandton, a friend mentioned this restaurant on a sunday, we found a jewel, literally.
It seemed we were in Italy, Mrs Alda was so kind and nice with us that we could not go. Actually we finished our lunch at 4pm. Great food and place.

Original italian dishes. We enjoyed sea food dishes fresh and tasty. Great wines and nice ambiance. Trees older than 200 year made a difference in Sandton centre place.Recommended.

Abbiamo cenato in uno splendido giardino nel pieno centro di Sandton. La cucina e' magnifica e sicuramente italiana. Mangiato Crescentine con grande Fiocco di prosciutto poi ravioli di castagne (per la prima volta nella mia via), eccezionali. Di secondo funghi freschi e poi grandi dolci. Tutto c on vino piemontese davvero ottimo. Il ristorante ha un parcheggio privato gratuito e custodito e il servizio e' eccellente.

Beautiful restaurant in Rivonia right in a park, We had a long Sunday lunch and we enjoyed the great food in a garden full of atmosphere. Calm, relaxed and with a family touch. Food was Italian and wine list was extensive and quality. Ravioli di castagne and salciccia were the highlight and the main courses were really special: we had lamb rack and tagliata with rucola. Great desserts, actually best gelato I ever had in Johannesburg. We will certainly come back also because parking was easy inside the premises and our children could safely play in the guarded park.

Lovely lunch in the simple garden outside.
The staff are efficient and well trained. For nibbles polenta chips with a spicy sauce.
Starters were 2 salads to share, both delicious especially the roast vegetable. For main course we all chose veal in various forms. My veal with a tuna sauces really delicious.the others had veal masala and limone.
For dessert a peach and almond tart and eclairs. With coffee.

A friend and I came here for dinner during the week and I was very impressed with this place. The service is excellent and hostess is very friendly and welcoming! Such a nice intimate dining experience! The complementary polenta chips were delicious and so different. My friend had the salmon pasta, which was a good size and tasty. I had the salmon ravioli, the portion was a bit small but was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to come back here!!!

One of my favourite restaurants, authentic Italian cuisine. Octopus carpaccio, risotto, pasta, bignè, etc all to die for. All freshly prepared, so don't expect your meal to be ready in 5 minutes. Have always had an excellent meal here, just love it. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and service is always good.

This was our second visit.   Magical setting both indoors and outdoors. Would be great for a big event such as a wedding or large dinner party. Family run by Adla, the matriarch, originally from Turin, whose cooking in fantastic including fresh, made to order pastas. We had ravioli with a truffle sauce (pictured), and pasta with a lamb ragu. For starters we had the grilled octopus with potatoes and parsley (polpo carpaccio) and possibly the best eggplant parmagiana that we have ever had. The fried polenta amuse bouche are terrific. Wine list is top and price per value remarkable. Service was attentive and cordial. Simply lovely.

As an Italian who relocated to Soutg Africa I find Stelle one of thr best restaurant in the country. From location, to service to food: everything is excellent. If you expect Italian food cooked in the south african way, then you are in the wrong place and I suggest you go to Mimmos or Francos or Gemelli or Cafe del Sol... here only authentic cusine cooked in the most delicate and fine way.

We decided to try this hidden Italian gem on a Sunday afternoon and was not left disappointed.

The ambiance was warm and relaxed with live music and personal touches of a family run restaurant.

For starters we had a heavenly artichoke dish, we had wanted the lamb ragu for mains but was informed that they had run out the night before. However, the beef ragu was sublime with the best pasta I’ve tasted in Joburg.

To end a brilliantly sweet occasion, and to make up for the lamb ragu disappointment, the chef gave us complimentary profiteroles with Chantilly cream and we left happy customers- vowing to come back for that lamb ragu!

Stelle is the most relaxed, unpretentious and genuinely delicious Italian food in Joburg.

Every dish is packed with flavour and the atmosphere only adds to the taste.

Polenta chips come out as a complimentary surprise, whetting your appetite for the meal to come. The table ordered the carne cruda beef tartare (sublime), the pear salad and deep fried mozzarella as starters, which went down a treat.

For mains, I went for a superb squid ink pasta with a salmon vodka sauce, whilst the saffron and bone marrow rissoto and artichoke ravioli were massive favourites.

Stelle is consistently surprising and delicious, and every meal I have had over the years, at the old Parkview and the still-new Sandown location have been memorable.

The garden is quiet and lovely, and Alda, Chantelle and Sara are wonderful hosts.

Highly recommended for a real taste of Italy in the heart of Sandton.

This was first visit to this family owned restaurant. It was terrific. The ambiance is homely indoors and has a country feel outside. Calamari starter was delicious. The portion was extremely generous. Steak tartare starter was also a winner. Main course of seafood pasta was superb. Again the portion was generous and contained an excellent variety of seafood that tasted very fresh. We were too full to contemplate dessert! Will take my own wine next time as it is permitted with a corkage fee. I look forward to going back soon!!

15.09.2017 I always love finding good old fashion spots. This one has been on my radar for a while as I pass it almost everyday so I finally booked for dinner.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised to find a rather simple restaurant with minimal decor, inside and outside seating. I think in summer the outside area will be the perfect spot under the trees. On arrival it wasn't busy but filled up quite a bit as the night went on.

The best part - it's family owned and run, hence the food is proper Italian with proper homemade ingredients for most of the items on their menu.

They don't have cocktails and have a slightly limited bar variety. As a snack they bring to the table a small portion of fried Polenta with a sauce and some Chilli. OH MY SOUL did we enjoy that. We could easily eat a full plate of it and be happy. For starters my friend had the Melanzane alla Parmigiana and I tried the Mozarella in Carrozza which is a deep fried Mozarella Sandwhich served with rocket and an Anchovy sauce. Both were absolutely delicious. My "sandwhich" although quite basic had the most amazing taste and texture to it, complimented by the Anchovy sauce which was rather different.

For mains we tried the Lamb Ragu and the Squid ink Ravioli filled with Salmon and served with Salmon and Vodka sauce. Personally the Raviolis were still a bit hard and the filling was a bit dry, so I needed more sauce, but it was still a good combination.

At this rate we were still going, and our waitress Nomfundo was having a good laugh fattening us up with more food and convinced us on dessert. Little did we know it's alot bigger than she explained.

We ordered the Panna Cotta and the "Beignets" with 2 scoops of Ice cream. 1 Pistachio and 1 Nutella.

Beautifully presented and Chantelle convinced us to add a little Amaretto to the ice cream for some added kick. Changes the whole flavour profile, and if dessert wasn't enough to get us rolling out of their we had to taste the family Limoncello before finally rolling out with tummies full after a fantastic evening.

Great spot for a relaxed afternoon lunch or dinner, and lovely hospitality from Chantelle, Alda and the rest of the team and Stelle.

I adore this little hidden gem (well - perhaps I am the only one who didn't know about it). My husband and I went to Stelle recently for "date night" and it was such a treat. I loved the atmosphere and the all-round good vibes I experienced. We ordered wine with classic pasta dishes (Ravioli for me!) and they did not disappoint. At first I was let down by the no-fuss/simple presentation of the food, but this could possibly be the best part about it. I say this because all attention was focused on capturing an authentic and delicious flavor which is what we want at the end of the day! We will definitely be visiting again.

Stelle has re-opened its doors in the heart of Sandton and what a great new look! It has a far more upmarket feel to it but has maintained its homely feel. The decor is simple but classy and the two fireplaces in the indoor dining area keep the room warm and toasty. 

The prices have remained the same and the quality and quantity of the food is great! The mains could have packed more flavour (when comparing my last meal at their old venue) but the food was still very enjoyable.

We were there on a quieter evening and the service was good!

We love this little hidden treasure. Followed them from Parkview. A lovely family restaurant where the focus is on excellent home made Italian food. Their clam pasta is crammed with clams. Their sea food pasta comes in a beautiful surprise package. The portions are generous. Their home made ice creams are amazing. If I have to complain then it's the waitrons who can be slow in taking your order.

Food is incredible! Very high quality ingredients and beautiful presentation and simply delicious. On par or better than Café del sol, albeit simpler menu.

Re timing and service: probably best to not come here on a busy day as service is very 'relaxed'.

Perhaps the kitchen is tiny? Very pleasant but expect to have a long lazy lunch. Our 3 course lunch took 2 hours and we ordered within 10mns of sitting down.

What a treasure tucked away in a breakaway world in the heart of Sandton. ...being the complex of beatiful houses in a garden setting, in Acorn Lane complex. The decor is warm with class. More importantly the home made pastas are stunning. Gnocchi that melts in your mouth! All kept together by a delightful hostess!

Stelle has moved from Parkview to a lovely property in Sandown. It's very different and much more upmarket than the old but the restaurant has retained its casual homely feel. It's also roomy so would make a great venue for a big crowd. And there's a lovely outdoor area for lunch under the trees or a moonlit dinner. The food is as good as always.
Had the pepperoni with bagna cauda, which I once tried to make but it got too complicated for a home chef. I'm not sure it was served correctly here but it was very good.
My pasta with capers, olives and anchovies was great although Sam found his farfalle with prawns bland.
I think our friends liked their meals well enough but I forgot to ask!
Corkage was around R60 for a delicious de Trafford 393 2008.

We went for lunch on a Saturday. We sat outside under the trees - rare in Sandton and we could be forgiven for thinking we were lunching in the countryside. My strips of beef fillet on a bed of mushrooms was tender, perfectly cooked ( including the vegetables) and packed with flavour. Delicious. My wife had the brinjal, tomato & parmesan cheese bake. Different from the run of the mill aubergine parmigiana which more often than not is flooded with sauce and gooey mozzarella - this one is a sophisticated and elegant dish. Not the slickest of waiters but service was still good and not obtrusive and did not detract from the meal. This is no pizzeria.

A great meal and excellent service. The veal masala was tender and tasty as was the pork fillet with Apple and prunes. We shared a Caprese salad which included the most delicious artichokes. The wine list is varied and reasonably priced and best of all the restaurant is not noisy! Service was attentive and all in all a great experience.

This place has a lot going for it, but it misses the mark on a full five stars. Tucked away at the back of a building, it offers a peaceful and unique atmosphere. Plus, they've really put effort into their decor and cutlery - definitely high-end. The service was spot-on, friendly and attentive, but it wasn't exactly busy. I ordered a caprese salad with quality mozzarella, so points for that. However, the overall taste of the carbonara and other pastas was just good, not great. It's like they've got all the right pieces, but they just haven't quite figured out how to put them together. And here's the kicker - not all their pasta is fresh. Let's be real, who wants to shell out 200 Rand for boxed pasta? It's these finer details that keep them from reaching that perfect score. But, if you don't mind the pasta issue and you're after a tranquil spot with decent food, it's worth a visit.

Stelle is one of my favourite authentic Italian restaurants in Joburg. I've tried nearly everything on the menu and would highly suggest their Rabiola and Truffle Ravioli! Service, however, needs to be improved.

The chilli pasta is great! I haven't tried anything else on the menu as it is not halaal but their food seems good. For Italian food lovers. They have a lot of other great stuff on the menu as well.

This is a little gem of a restaurant in a green space in Sandton. It may not have the interior/exterior design standards of other Sandton restaurants but you come here for the food. This is a real familly Italian restaurant with real North Italian food, under Italian control. The rabbit ravioli was amazing and the truffle ravioli was the best I ever had. Of a group of 6 nobody had anything bad to say and every plate was eaten clean.

Great Italian casual restaurant with a fine dining menu. Now doing pizzas as well as the traditional pasta and meat dishes. Sunday afternoon on the terrace with subtle live music in the background is a must. Book early, we were lucky to find a table.
