What a lovely experience. I heard about pronto from family and decided to have a quick lunch. The restaurant is lovely. I had the meatballs spaghetti which was perfect and a tiramisu which was amazing. The service was excellent and I left very happy. Everyone at pronto seem to take pride in the product.
Good looking venue with good service. The breakfast menu is small but some really good options. The sourdough bread with smashed avo is a winner. The real surprise was the toasted veg, cheese and pesto sandwich which was awesome. Need to go back to try the pastas.
Lovely restaurant. Gets very busy so be sure to make a reservation.

The restaurant is small but cute and neat. I enjoyed the salmon & prawn fettuccine I had but the only thing I can fault is the service. The waiters were huddled towards the back of the restaurant & quite noisy when they were talking amongst themselves. It was a mission to get their attention, ended up leaving sooner than I expected because it was a bit off-putting. The waiter who helped me was quite polite but disappeared for too long. Other than that, it was a very relaxed atmosphere & I'd definitely go back for the food.
Only the 2nd time I have been here but I strongly recommend this restaurant. The service, quality of food, ambience and everything else is awesome at this place. Excellent value for money and will be back soon and again and again
We ordered a pizza and a pasta to share so we could try both. The pizza was very average - the chicken was dry, the base was fought and the tomato base was tasteless. I had to put some of the pasta on to the pizza! š¤£ we had the artichoke and zucchini pasta which was 9/10 excellent and even better with a bit of the house chili. I would come back here but only for the pasta
Pronto serves some really really good pastas. The service is good and efficient, with a really nice ambience and look to the restaurant.
My wife and I enjoyed a nice lunch on Easter Sunday after church. My wife absolutely loved the pancetta peas and cream (with penne) which both smelled and tasted good. I had the Beef, Spinach, Pine Nuts & Rocket with Linguine - and I had the time of my life.
Very nice food, friendly service and great ambience. Will definitely return. Also convenient parking. All in all a great outing and reasonably priced.

Pronto is definitely on of those ābest kept secretsā. This Italian restaurant has a great selection on their menu. We received complimentary bruschetta to start. We ordered the grilled chicken breasts and a bacon, avo, blue cheese and spinach salads both meals were really good. Service was excellent too.

I had the mushroom fillet - which melted in my mouth! And definitely recommend the Parmesan mash! Double yum! The rest of the table loved their pastas... which all looked great!

Pronto never fails me. This is the most reliable good food place I love to go after yoga. Iāve tried so many things at Pronto that itās always a fight with myself when I come eat here. My favourite must be the pork ragu with polenta. Omg, I would always leave half so I can savour the taste the next day!

As previously complained the seafood stew needs to contain deshelled Mussels and prawns. Why should we get in with hands and feet to deshelle while eating a very delicate and tasty broth ???
Nice quiet location with friendly staff. The mushroom gnocchi and Italian pork sausage pizza were ordered. The gnocchi sauce was delicious and rich with fluffy pasta pillows. The pizza had a thin crispy base which was lovely to eat. The āgrillā on this visit was not operational and so many menu options were not available. Hope they get it sorted out soon.
Great service, waiters on point and friendly, menu has a great selection. Food exquisite and food was served very quickly good dessert selection too š

Fantastic Sunday lunch yesterday. Jam packed inside and outside and the service was perfect.
We shared a caprese salad and focaccia to start and all had different pastas.

I am a big fan of the spaghetti and meatballs, they also make a damn fine lasagna! If youāre in the area and in the mood for Italian, itās a fantastic choice.
Never disappoints. Pizza is great. Pasta is full of flavor. They even sell their pasta sauce which is frozen. Wish they stayed open later on a Sunday.
My wife and I have been visiting Pronto since they opened their doors at the Colony centre in Craighall. Todate we have never been disappointed. When we have visitors from out of town or overseas, Pronto is allways our first choice. Natasha you run a great establisment, always consistent, always good, in fact near perfect. Last Wednesday evening was no exception.
So many choices for pasta lovers! Never been disappointed with a pasta dish here. The menu is extensive with great breakfast and lunch options too. The wine selection is huge and service is great!
This is a great little Italian restaurant. You get to sit outside under the fairy lights. I enjoyed my meal having the pasta but my boyfriends pizza was a bit of a let down.

The service does not live up to "best joburg restaurant 2012". It's as if that was the peak & 2017 is the slump. Drinks orders take a while to arrive, even if it's one drink for one person. The waiter dropped a butter on the floor, picked it up & placed it back on the plate with food still going to a customer.
Was my first time at the establishment, what a great experience it was. The staff very friendly, food did not disappoint at all... The deco and use of space is very innovative and modern. I look forward to exploring more of the menu.
Enjoyed this restaurant. Had a Beef, Spinach and Pine nut pasta and the ingredients were fresh and generously portioned. One of the best pastas I have had and looking forward to coming back to try the other pastas when the craving strikes. My partner had a chicken salad and she did enjoy it although she did find the chicken a tad dry.
Really wonderful, down-to-earth place with delicious food! For starters we had the smoked mozzarella Arancini and the gnocchi and they were both delicious! For mains we had the Pollo Arabiatta pizza and the Salmon and prawn fettuccine which was absolutely outstanding! Lovely little place, will definitely be back!
This is a small intimate restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. The menu is extensive and offers so many veg options of pastas and pizza that you are really spoilt for choice. Presentation and portion sizes were good. All the menus items that the dining group of 12 ordered from starters to pizzas pastas and meat items were fantastic. Pronto must be one of my all time favourites. This little Italian restaurant has evolved over the years to become my trusted go to for an incredible pasta and a wonderful evening out.
Situated at the Colony with a view over Jan Smuts, walking in transports you to a little slice of heaven, with a great vibe and friendly service.
Their wine selection is well balanced, with some beautiful South African favourites and some exciting Italian options, decently priced.
Their food selection is heavily pasta focused, and rightfully so. Each pasta dish, from the simplest dishes to the more exciting one, is packed with flavour. Their pizzas cannot be ignored either with crispy bases and well thought out ingredients, regardless of your mood there will be something for you.
Overall Pronto has delivered a superb dining experience each time, and I'm already excited for my next visit

I have been here a few times.Ā Must admit had the spinach cannelloni the first time and it was awful.Ā The worst I ever had.Ā Having visited the restaurant several times since then and having different things on the menu I can report that it is a decent place to go to.Ā Their gnocchi with pancetta is very rich and I canāt even finish the starter portion.Ā Love their bruschetta although I think R45 for one slice is a tad expensive.Ā Also had the Alfredo, again decent.Ā Their bolognaise also enjoyable.Ā I like the dĆ©cor and the restaurant feels really really clean.Ā The waiters are very friendly and come across that they have been there for years.Ā The prices of their wines are also decent and there are a few options you can choose from which range in price so you can choose what will fit your pocket.Ā Ā It is a pity that they donāt make their own fettuccine, penne etc. as it will elevate their dishes.Ā They do make their own raviolis I believe. They should work on their panacotta though as it is more mouse like than wobbly.Ā Had the chocolate mousse which is not āmoussieā (sorry I know its not a word) enough but I enjoy the mascarpone on top instead of cream.
Busy restaurant, with a nice cozy atmosphere , popular place , I ordered the starter artichoke antipasta, was very bland , the mains were great , the panzerotti with feta , papadew , ricotta was very tasty and we'll cooked , the artichoke pasta excellent , and the butternut panzerotti excellent , all in the pasts was superb , waitress not a great demeanor , but will definitely be back

There was one at Pronto. Outside. It was freezing - like the coldest night in six years. Fine. The table was supposedly under cover and there were heaters. I was desperate.
Got there. A small inside table had become available. Thank goodness!
The place is really nice and warm with a mix of clientele from young to old.
I ordered meatballs on top of spaghetti - a first for me. There were lots and lots of meatballs! They were pretty hard, like little cannon balls. The ones I've made at home have been tender. I'm not sure what they're meant to be. The dish was delicious nevertheless; really tasty!
Sam had prawns on spaghetti which he found bland. It improved with the addition of chili.
Service was fast and friendly.
I'll be back - especially for more meatballs!
Definitely one of my favourite Italian restaurants! Their pasta dishes are amazing! Taste sensations! The atmosphere is great. A good wine list and great service!
What I really enjoy having here are the prawns! They are cooked to perfection in a very tasty sauce - with a choice of unusual sides, such as bacon and spinach or creamed potato with Parmesan. Really good. Their peanut butter ice cream is a must too.
Had a birthday lunch with friends. Excellent pasta. Had blue cheese with fillet strips on linguine. Friend had the fettucine with salmon and avocado. Also great. A bit noisy, but service is very good. Will definitely be back.
We eat Italian a lot and try every establishment. Pronto is one of our favourites. The only time I was disappointed there was when we didn't get the crispy bread entrees topped with fresh tomato. They brought cheese straws instead and they were unpleasant. The pastas are out of this world. By far our favourite place for pastas. So much variety. They are all good and it's so hard to choose. But my all-time favourite is the Linguine Rosa, followed closely by the Fiery Prawn Spaghetti. I struggle to order other dishes. We just love Pronto and thank you for always delivering quality and consistency.
The food was great the only problem is that it took ages to get out Dom Pedro's. I loved my pasta with peas and salmon. The ambiance is great and the waters friendly.
Went there on a Saturday night with a few friends. Right off the bat our waiter Michael was welcoming and attentive to our needs. We ordered a variety of main dishes - mostly pasta - abd everyone enjoyed their meal. The beef strip tagliatelle with chilli was especially delicious. Would recommend for a nice vibe and meal.

Pronto was my definition of a solid restaurant. The food and service were good (not great) and the service - albeit a little slow and absent-minded - was acceptable. The pricing is reasonable and the value good (almost cheap for mains). It looks like the pasta is better than the pizza (which I had), with plenty of ingredients. The setting is nice - especially outside in the evening - and the restaurant is vibey.
Absolutely love Pronto. We have never been disappointed with the food or service. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, it's a winner with our family. It's our go to friendly neighborhood restaurant.

Can't believe we only discovered this little gem now!
I can see why it was voted best neighborhood restaurant of 2013. Some of the best service I've ever had at a restaurant in SA and such a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. The menu was oh so yum, and they have a great selection of Italian wines. We had the prosciutto & mozzarella and salami starters, I didn't love the way the mozzarella looked on the plate, but couldn't fault the taste or flavor in any way.
My husband had a beautiful olive and tomato bruschetta and I had the "fiery prawn" spaghetti. The spaghetti was so thin and perfect and the prawns were mouth watering. Overall wonderful experience
Wow! #KevFabFood was told about this restaurant and recommended by my dad...this is one special and amazing restaurant. Service is impeccable and food fresh, delicious and oh so flavoursome - wine list is vast and any wine connoisseur will be proud and amazed - I had the Sicilian prawns and the most luscious and amazing tiramisu for dessert. The decor is fresh, modern and no table is too close to the next. Bravo to the team...we will be back!
One of my favourite places to come for pasta! The food is always fresh, delicious and full of flavour! They have a nice big selection as well, and unique options to choose from. The seating is comfortable, the service is always great.
We went to Pronto this past weekend. From the outside it looked pretty pricy but when I saw the menu I was pleasantly surprised. From the delicious sounding food to the reasonable prices it all looked good. While we waited for our order. They brought us little fancy bread with delicious tomato relish to snack on. It's been ages since a restaurant gave us something to line our tummies.
When the food came it was just delicious as I had hoped. I had the classic tuna salad and Jonathan Theo Naidoo had the rossini toasted sandwich. They were both absolutely delicious. The potato went very nicely with the salad and they are super generous on their portions.
All in all a wonderful day out with a great atmosphere, great service and scrumptious food. We will definitely go there again.
Had a lovely lunch at Pronto on Friday and found the food to be absolutely delicious. We started off with the Gnocchi Formagi e Pancetta which was absolutely divine, before having the Beef, Spinach & Pine Nut Linguine and Bacon, Avo and Blue Cheese Salad. Pronto are generous with their ingredients which really makes a big difference to the flavour.
We would have loved some ciabatta with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to nibble before our meal, but otherwise can't complain.
I recommend going in the evening and sitting in the wine cellar area, or going on a sunny day and sitting out on their beautiful balcony.
We came to Pronto for a friend's birthday. The venue is stunning, the chalk artwork showing the specials is absolutely perfect. Any OCD person would marvel at the detail and perfect that is placed into the signage. And that is not the only marvelous thing about Pronto. The food is divine. The pasta is simply perfect. The stolen bites of pizza were just as good. But for me, the dessert stole the show.
I had the butternut panzarotti and it was well flavoured and exceptionally fulling. And then just to indulge dessert was the hot chocolate fondant. The centre was warm and melted in your mouth. A perfect dessert. But with all this greatness comes a lot of patrons. So booking a table is a must. And regular visits will become a real thing.

Unbelievable. My parents and I were looking for somewhere new to eat and stumbled upon pronto. The whole vibe of the restaurant was lovely in general, from the outside tables to the inside tables and even the cheesy life advice that was printed on the walls. The service was also impeccable, our waiter was not afraid to help us make our decision and boy are we glad we listened to him!
Pasta may seem like an easy dish but it's not often that you find really good pasta! I had the artichoke and white wine penne which was out of this world, my mother got a creamy spinach and chicken dish served with linguine which she absolutely loved and the winner must have been the rosa, a creamy prawn pasta which my dad polished off! Which says a lot!
Then for dessert, while we were all so full from the mains we couldn't resist. I got the sorbet which was amazing. The lemon and mixed berry were really out of this world, the strawberry though was a little disappointing. The tiramisu was also a little bland but that didn't really matter at the end cause the actual food was so good.
Lovely location, the outside seating is great when the weather's nice. Perfect place for a leisurely lunch. The pasta is good, especially like the chorizo pasta and the clam pasta. They also have a gluten free pasta option which is great.
Birthday dinner with hubbie. Delicious food, great service and the chilli is awesome. Hubbie had the moussaka and i had the prawn linguine. I'd definitely recommend this spot. My friends have been telling me about it for ages and I have finally been here. Excellent food, I've never heard a bad review about this spot, it's very popular amongst our friends.

It's taken me some time to get this review up but finally can get it done.
Myself and a few friends came for dinner a while back, was a nice warm evening and we sat outside. We shared a salad to start and then mains we had a selection of pizzas and pastas which we all shared, I had the penne salcicia, Italian sausage pasta, which was delicious!! My wife had the amatriciana and our friends had a Regina and Quattro stagione. All were delicious! Pizzas had a nice thin crust, pasta was all aldente. But the star of the night was our waiter victor. He was really knowledgeable on the menu, was prompt with serving us and made sure we were attended to the whole night. Really makes the evening when you get a waiter like that! All in all was a great evening!

Delicious!!! All I can think about is the Butternut Panzerotti!!! Best I've ever had. It was decadent and rich without being too much. If I'm being very picky, I would have liked the pockets to be slightly more firm. The Bruschetta was delicious, tomato, Parmesan shavings and white balsamic vinegar. It was light and crisp with a powerful flavour. Now... The Panna Cotta, I am severely picky when it comes to Panna Cotta and unfortunately this one did not quite hit the mark for me. It was rather dense and it didn't have that feather light quality that I'm obsessed with when you have a perfect Panna Cotta. I found the Limoncello in it to be a bit overpowering but that's 100% a personal opinion as I'm not really a fan of the taste of any alcohol. My mistake for ordering it though because when asked what we would like for dessert I asked if they had Panna Cotta and our waitress said yes and so did I so I should have looked at it on the menu. That said, the service was excellent, very friendly. The decor wasn't great but the Butternut Panzerotti made up for it above and beyond. I can't wait to go back because I have a feeling that most of the menu will be as good as the Panzerotti. š®š¹āļøāļøāļøāļø
A pleasant surprise! I usually dread the excess of Italian or rather pseudo Italian food options in Johannesburg, but pronto is the real deal. Family owned, well run, with great menu options....Be sure to book, as many others know that Pronto delivers all round quality.
Nice restaurant in Craighall. The restaurant has a homely feel and amazing pasta. The service wasn't bad either. The restaurant is located in an older Mall just on Jan Smuts. Great for family outing.
Great little Italian restraunt in the colony centre become a local place of mine. Never had a bad meal and the service is always impeccable.
Definitely one of the few really great Italian restaurants in town. Great vibe and setting no doubt adding to its Italian-ness. Their spinach & ricotta panzerotti was delicious as well as their traditional pesto pasta. Creme brulee was a bit of a let down as it was quite runny in consistency compared to your traditional creme brulee but still tasted great.

Visited Pronto on Saturday night - I hadn't been here for a while. I was reminded how amazing the food was - easily one of the tastiest Italian restaurants in town!! The spinach and ricotta panzerotti in particular was outstanding - very generous portion and really delicious with a great fresh Napolitana sauce (others also raved about the pesto pasta). Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals and the service was on point. Won't wait so long till my next visit!

I have and continue to give Pronto a 4-5 rating for Italian food. The food is classy, wholesome, tasty but not pretentious. Then service is great. My only comment is that I feel like they could complement the food and great wine with more ambience, better decor. All in all a great spot for fabulous food.
Good pastas and pizzas (especially the seafood pastas) and portions are large. But what I love most is the gnocchi! Absolutely divine. The sauce is quite rich so having it as a smaller starter dish was perfect.
Service is very inconsistent though. I've had very good experiences and then not so great ones. One thing that does upset me is that sometimes you get the complimentary bruschetta and sometimes you don't.. Perhaps I shouldn't complain too much about not getting free stuff! :)
Dessert portions are a tad small but decent in terms of taste. Not the most memorable dessert though.

This place was a lovely surprise in the middle of Craighall. I was impressed with the dishes on offer and my gnocchi was divine. Really happy with the food and service.
Was here last week Sunday for a family lunch. The decor of the restaurant is so beautiful and classy and it feels like you are in an up market restaurant. The menu has a large variety of food to choose from. The pizza was incredible and tasted very authentic italian. The only issue was that we sat by the kitchen but, otherwise it was a great dining experience!
Casual dining on a Friday afternoon whole daydreaming. I ate from both Puccini burger and chicken Ceasar and I cannot complain. Service is attentive if not on standby.

Popular Italian restaurant in the Colony Center in Craighall. Everytime I come to this restaurant it is full no matter what day of the week. This Tuesday night was no exception. Good food, I had the 4 cheeses pasta which was delicious. Good service and overall an enjoyable evening.

Pronto recently did a refurb and the decor looks great! It's perfect for an afternoon lunch. I love that they have some of the speciality Italian products that you can't get at other places. I always look forward to the complimentary bruschettas with tomato and basil. The chorizo pizza is also very good but their pastas are their speciality. Got the beef, pine nut and cream linguini takeaway today and it was amazing. Their cheese and pancetta gnocchi is so comforting and delicious, goes down well on a cold Joburg night.

Good atmosphere.
Late night service a bit slow and lacking on basics like serviettes and a clean table cloth.
The kitchen closes at 9pm, get your order in on time.
The main meals have tiny portions, and you might leave hungry.
The desserts more than make up for it with MASSIVE (almost excessive) portions.
Expensive place!! 5 people ordering only coffee and dessert - expect a bill of over R1000.
Good quality food.
The ONE toilet is not great, but at least it is clean.

All round amazing experience, the store manages to be a restaurant, deli, and sell homeware without coming across as overwhelming. The pasta was fresh, the mussels were perfect and the ice cream was delicious. The decor was traditional and not pretentious with fresh roses on every table. Very attentive staff too.
Lovely Italian Restaurant. Booked a business dinner for 8. Received good service and the food was good. Sadly the ice cream was a disappointment

Our favourite restaurant in JHB. Alec is such a great waiter and the food as always was incredible! We went there for our anniversary celebration and they really went the extra mile!
Everything always goes right here. We luckily live close to the TdO but I would say even a trip from elsewhere is fully justified to enjoy this wonderful venue. Shown are the delicious Millefoglia and Cassata

We had the most delicious orange sorbet, with an olive, whilst we awaited a table; in the packed to capacity restaurant.
I had the most delicious salmon starter.
My main course was a pasta dish with chicken in a cream/mushroom sauce.
My pasta was underwhelming. It tasted under cooked.
They were a bit stingy with the sauce.
I had to request more, which came expeditiously, in a bowl.
My companion, opted for fish. It was delicious kingklip, served with mouth watering roasted veg.
Their expresso has the most tantalizing and aromatic flavour. I had two.
The ambience in the restaurant was delightful.
The waitstaff are exceedling attentive, friendly and courteous.
All in all I would give Tortellino d'Oro an 8/10; despite my less than appetizing pasta.
Fantastic Southern Italian dishes, with a calm atmosphere, and attentive, timely service. Would recommend the pasta, and desserts.
