Review Leafy Greens Cafe - Johannesburg

Darshini Moodley
It was my first time at the restaurant and I was amazed. The beautiful gardens filled with organic fruit and vegetables was a sight for sore eyes. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious and very well presented. The service was warm, friendly and efficient. The only advice to the owner is make sure that your baby high chairs are cleaned all the time. I had to wipe down the chair with wet wipes before putting my baby into it. Other than that we had a lovely lunch and a wonderful experience.

I went for the buffet and the food and drinks were mind-blowingly amazing! The best comfort food I've had in a long time. I look forward to trying their regular menu. A must have experience for vegans in the area.
Gina Minnaar
I recently visited the cafe and had the best vegan food experience ever! Their smoothie was incredibly refreshing, and the vegan burger was beyond delicious. The flavors were outstanding, and the quality of ingredients truly shone through. I can't wait to go back for more!
Vikas Kathuria
It's a good place to have a walk on the farm, Kids playing area, shop for fresh veggies and fruit harvested from the farm. Then enjoy the food in the restaurant. We loved it!
Sherissa Jagaroo
As a vegetarian or vegan, you'll be spoilt for choice. The staff are really friendly and informative when you don't know what to order.
Michael de Freitas
Best tomato soup I have ever had! Incredible value for money because the food is so flavoursome. After lunch, you can have some wine and go for a walk in the gardens.

This is an amazing little restaurant with large variety of different vegan and vegetarian food. The food is all made to order so be prepared to wait a bit, trust me it is worth the wait. The food is absolutely delicious and is seasoned to perfection with every bite being absolutely scrumptious . I would highly highly recommend this restaurant to anyone to the farm here. The food is also very fresh with some of the ingredients sourced just a stone throw's away in the organic garden.

The place is so beautiful and tranquil. The food is divine and healthy,, made with love. The service is amazing and the owners are hands on. Friendly atmosphere, great service, family friendly, vegan friendly, health conscious and nature. It has everything one needs and more. Highly recommend this amazing jem

Delicious, whole food and plant-based. Friendly, warm atmosphere with great staff! So worth it! Definitely going back there.🙂

I would have loved to give them 5 stars but we specifically went for a smoothie bowl on a hot day and were told that the kitchen won’t make that after 11am. So unreasonable! I had a smoothie for lunch but couldn’t have a smoothie bowl?!!! Just ridiculous! The smoothie was good though.

It was my first visit to Leafy Greens and I was so impressed and blown away by the colourful selection of amazing food that had been prepared for the buffet. It was a feast for the eyes and an taste explosion for the tastebuds! The meal was amazing and delicious! The setting was just so tranquil and so refreshing to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and into nature. Enjoyed walking around the gardens and seeing all the fresh produce. The shop is great too and I treated myself to the recipe book and can't wait to try out some new meals at home. Had great company and thank you to Evan and Yvette for treating me and Anthony for sharing in the outing. So worth the drive out to experience such great food and thanks to everyone involved in preparing such amazing food - you can see how much effort and love has gone into preparing the food ...l will DEFINITELY be back!!!

A great experience! Set in a very quiet and tranquil environment. Apart from the restaurant which serves vegan food there is also a shop selling a wide variety of health food. Indeed worth paying a visit!

In the 1970s London, there was Cranks. I got educated. Then I met Leslie Kenton who first popularised ethical endorsement of body- and beauty care products through her editor post at Harper's & Queen, followed by talking up the merits of a raw diet. I thought I knew it all by now! I ought to add that in this time I had a postgrad qualification in nutrition and non-allopathic healthcare! Then along comes this young being of glowing looks, uplifting energy AND educates me further! Uber-Jozite is the person and force behind this excellent venture - both shop and restaurant! Every visit has been a superior experience and totally satisfying. Thank you, one and all the staff too. It is the staff who keep the place rocking for us to come back to again and again. Major UPs!

I highly recommend Leafy Greens! It is one of my favourite restaurants! Fantastic food with amazing service. The manager, Paul, is really great and has been very accommodating towards my complicated allergens. Thank you Paul and everyone working there who has always made my Leafy Greens experiences fantastic!

I always love going to Leafy Greens, beautiful surroundings and peaceful. The service is always spot on, waiters are attentive and management is involved at all times. And the food - oh the food! I am not a vegan or even a vegetarian but boy of boy do I enjoy their food. Definitely worth a visit. When I feel like treating myself - this is one of my go-to restaurants.
Carol Johnson
The food here is exquisite - perfectly seasoned and a joy to look at! I wish I had a Leafy Greens Cafe near me in SC! Have never had a meal that was not excellent - and the server is very knowledgeable and efficient. Do not come here if you are in a hurry - it isn't that kind of place. Relax and enjoy!

What a FABULOUS restaurant! I just loved being able to order delicious food and rest assured that every single ingredient is nutritious and good ïżœ The little Shop is also a gem and a must visit for any health and eco conscious individual.

It’s always a pure pleasure spending time in this amazing place. Beside the fact that the food is extremely healthy and extremely delicious at the same time, the atmosphere here is just magical! It’s a unique place, a green oasis so close to the town. Love it!!!
Richard Jansen Van Vuuren
Just wow. I'm not a veggie and was expecting "meh". What I got instead was instead was magnificent taste and texture! And a lovely waitress - Martha - who was happy to guide us through our breakfast. The kimchi elixir is heaven sent. Highly recommended.
Jasmina Telic
Always such a pleasure visiting my absolute favourite restaurant/shop in whole of Gauteng! Sometimes I come from Gaborone, Botswana to Muldersdrift just so I could have their raw foods buffet and enjoy the amazing natural setting!
Sandra Reynolds
Another fabulous lunch! The variety of the buffet, the quality of the ingredients and their mutational value is the best! Food made with passion and love. Always a pleasure to eat there.

Was at Leafy Greens yesterday for the first time (I live in Italy!) The setting is wonderful and the gardens so taken care of. Found the buffet rich in variety of ingredients as well as preparations (raw and cooked in different ways) therefore can please many according to taste and nutritional choice. Fresh organic seasonal products, no refined sugar and gluten free are all winning proposals. Antonia took time to come to our table and this was simply the cherry on top of the excellent service we had received during our lunch. Thank you Hristina for this experience of the senses which you so much wanted and organized! Looking forward to be back.
Charissa Kemp
The lunch buffet was absolutely amazing! I cant wait to come back again. Even my skeptical omni family were completely blown away at how good and filling plant food can be. Thank you!
Nancy Chowdhury
Great place. We were offered free samples and were checked on multiple times. The staff is super friendly and catered to everyone who walked in.
Barbara Ascough Parry
Beautiful venue, amazing fresh juices and awesome food. I'm not vegetarian, but enjoyed the buffet enormously.
Hasmitha Daya
I had the Mushroom Benedict and while portion size was great value for money. <br/>My only challenge was the rosti tasted uncooked. <br/><br/>Aside from this, the venue and space is a wonderful family spot

My daughter and i ordered food at 10H23, received the food at 11H09, my order was wrong and the toast very hard. I waited until 11H28 then decided to pay and leave. Manager promised to follow up and call me. It's a day later, still no call. DISAPPOINTING <br/><br/>

I was quite hesitant when I heard this place is fully vegetarian. When I visited this, I didn’t have a heart to leave this place. It was so beautiful, and the food was delicious. Well, let my photos speak further. <br/><br/>Please do visit this place to refresh yourself.
Paul Kleanthous
Delicious food but unbelievably overpriced with their new by weight system. My plate has tripled in price and wasn't even stacked full. Potatoes weigh more then broccoli, dont be so unreasonable. Food on 'hot' buffett is hardly ever hot
Monique Beekmann
We have been to Leafy Greens a number of times but not enough. Everytime is a deliciously indulgent experience. The quality and variety always delights. We especially have loved to eat outside when the weather permits. The natural setting is absolutely lovely and soothes my soul. Also had a fabulous xmas lunch in 2019.
Talya Basche
It’s a lovely vegan restaurant in a beautiful setting. The food is nice. I had the lunch buffet which had a lot of variety but it didn’t wow me. I felt a R180 for a plate of food was a little too expensive for the food itself and not quite worth it. But it’s worth going to, even if it’s just for a almond milk latte and the beautiful gardens.
Thandi Rhode
One of my favorite spots to just unwind, have a good healthy meet and walk amongst their beautiful garden of fruit trees. Definitely recommend
Izelle De Jager
Leafy Greens is such a magical spot to spend your day. The short drive to Muldersdrift immediately releases you from the city's rat race and the organic farming on the estate allows for a perfect place to unwind for a moment before or after enjoying a meal at the café. The food options are good and the buffet is full of variety and interesting options. I love this place and its vibe and definitely recommend it.
Deysellydia
Situated in beautiful surroundings. Only for the serious vegetarians. Great spread on the buffet. Not everything was to my liking and I find them overpriced. Staff is very friendly however service can be improved.<br/><br/>Also has a shop with all healthy goods with selected fresh fruit and veggies
Darren Thalrose
Incredible food, beautiful setting and all guilt free. What more could you ask for!?Well, they could open for dinner, and be closer to Randburg/Sandton. However they are worth the trip out of town! Highly recommended!
Dirk
Beautiful setting and garden this cafe is a true gem. Tranquil and relaxing and a true fresh taste adventure. Me and my beautiful Natalie stopped there for lunch. We had a chocolate bliss smoothie and a almond smoothie...both yummy. Then we opted to share the pizza...amazingly flavourful and crammed with toppings. We then strolled around the garden a bit and popped in the shop. Worth a visit if you are in the area!!!

Really good food in a beautiful location!<br/><br/>This restaurant is about more than just serving food. It's a whole experience. You can take a scenic walk through the vegetable garden and orchards, where they grow many of the ingredients used in their dishes. Or you can lie on the lush grass and soak up some sunlight. The restaurant has a very laid-back feel to it and the views from the outside tables are stunning. The only issue with eating outside is that you get quite a lot of bees buzzing around your drinks and food.<br/><br/>We had the Sunday lunch buffet, and between the four of us, we tried pretty much everything on the menu. There were many different options and most of the food was very flavourful (which is often not the case with healthy vegetarian/vegan restaurants). My personal favourites were the pizza slices, the creamy broccoli and cauliflower, the cabbage "meat" balls, the french onion dip, the sprout salad, the iced tea and the malted carob drink. The sushi was the only food that I found rather flavourless (or maybe I just didn't see the sauce that goes with it). The one downside of having the buffet is that it is difficult to determine whether the food contains ingredients to which you may be allergic. I think that the restaurant should have more descriptive name cards with a list of allergens for each item on the buffet table. <br/><br/>All-in-all it was a wonderfully relaxing Sunday afternoon out. For anyone that cares about healthy, plant-based and sustainable eating, a visit to this restaurant is an absolute must. They even use biodegradable straws!
Colleen Goodman
Great vegan food, using garden to table food. Take time to enjoy the serene space you in. New cocktail menu is fab. Could have more wait staff at busy times. <br/>
Marie
I absolutely love the concept of this restaurant.<br/><br/>Most of the food on the menu is gluten free. It is confusing on the menu as some items are marked as "gluten free" and some not, although it claims 90% are. So it is difficult to self-determine what you are able to eat without asking the waiter. I'd suggest that the restaurant clearly mark all items.<br/><br/>We ate the pancakes with berries inside. A little tart, but to be expected with fruit like berries. Perhaps a little crunch or break from the mushy tartness could improve the dish. But overall very good. We also enjoyed the beetroot burger. Not for the mainstream palate. It was both loved and disliked around the table.<br/><br/>The service was friendly, but neglected after we got our food.<br/><br/>The decor is artsy, bohemian and perhaps a little hippy with the multicolored table cloths. Although it fits well with the theme.<br/><br/>The ice cream is very unique and delicious.<br/><br/>Cappuccinos are available in a range of dairyfree milk options and beautifully prepared.<br/><br/>In general, a blessing for a gluten free diet. A little different for those not used to a healthier, alternative lifestyle, but a good change and experience.

Nutritious, healthy but tasty food served in a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere, served with a smile. This really is a little gem to retreat to when wanting to escape the hustle of Jozi!
Laura Byrne
This place lives up to its name! Even for non-vegan (or even vegetarian) the food is tasty and creative. The service was friendly and especially in the shop everyone was keen to share the vegan love :) loved the planet-friendly emphasis and own-grown fresh produce. Lovely atmosphere outside. Glad we finally gave it a visit!
Andrew Jon
Amazing food! Amazing atmosphere! Amazing kombucha! Simply amazing!!! Friendly staff aswell and a truely great eating experience. I definately recommend this to everyone, vegan and non-vegan!!!
Alta Laubscher
We had a wonderful experience at Leavy Greens. Friendly staff, good service and the breakfast was phenomenal. Vegan food cooked perfectly and interesting options to choose from, we had the warm breakfast buffet. Yummmm. If I can eat food cooked like this everyday, I will definitely convert to veganism. Do yourself a favour and pop in to see for yourself.
Pei-Lin Chen
Goodness! Leafy Greens is another amazing vegan restaurant. How on earth did you make such delicious vegan food? If I could cook like this I would love to be vegan forever!
Michelle Du Plessis
Loved my time spent at Leafy Greens! It's quite a drive but once you're there it's so worth it .. delicious food, great service and a soul filling atmosphere.
#rateaplate
We went to Leafy Greens and had the Sunday buffet. It was delicious!! đŸ€ the variety of vegan food is so creative and tasty! We were suprised by how much we enjoyed vegan dishes.<br/>The apple pie and ice cream wasnt to my taste, neither was the coffee! But other than that great experience!”
Jillian Nyakane
If you know me or would like to know me, this is one of my favourite restaurant. I discovered it when I changed my diet back in 2016. I was mainly on a fruit and veggies diet only.<br/><br/>So on the 21st of March 2018, I had breakfast with my good friend Nxalati and my wonderful daughter, Koti😍 The food was amazing as usual, I kinda started eating before taking a pic of my food so my photo is a bit messed up. I like their buffet and this one was cheaper R65 for a plate or R65 for bowl. I found this cheaper than their lunch.<br/><br/>After the lunch we took a stroll around their gorgeous farm. My daughter was chasing chickens and played on the trampoline 😃 she loved it!
Jessica Armstrong
As a new vegetarian it can sometimes be very difficult to find restaurants that can cater for vegetarians and vegans and produce healthy and tasty food. Well this place is beyond amazing and I can’t complement this restaurant enough for their absolutely delicious dishes. From their vegan Pizza to their whole food smoothies and even their vegan deserts I have never experienced having a bad meal here. Thank you Leafy greens!
Bronwyn Melson
Great location, very easy to find. Very tranquil atmosphere. We had a great waiter who was very helpful and friendly. The menu options for breakfast and lunch are short and sweet. I had the bunless beetroot burger which was yummy. Next time I will definitely choose the buffet and have a taste of everything.
Radha Chhita-Nathoo
My absolute favorite place to go on a Sunday. Apple sherbet is to die for and their buffet variety is great. A vegetarians dream come true. Desserts also very good. Great atmosphere.
Waseem Imam Saheb
Absolutely wonderful- my friend took us here to spend brunch and we decide to stay for the lunch buffet... absolutely worth it ... afterwards we took a stroll through the farm yard , talking nonsense while listen to bollywood music as a background accompaniment to the wonderful scenery... lol <br/>There was no need to eat after such a glorious meal...<br/>Ill definitely go again... i do say though that it is quite the romantic spot...
Sam Corcoran
This place is amazing! A cozy restaurant set on a beautiful farm just outside the city. Offering a buffet and menu options (ALL VEGAN... minus a few including honey). The buffet is out of this world with loads of options. Really delicious food.
Nduvho Mukhavhuli
The organic food is truly amazing. Leafy Green made me rethink what you can do with vegetables and naturally grown food. Their menu is unique, like nothing I've ever seen. Its great for vegetarians and actually tastes great!
Mariska
Had such a lovely lunch. I had the Mexican Protein wrap. So yum! A Gluten free kale wrap filled with spicy beans, Avo, salsa, lettuce & vegan sour cream. So filling, I could only eat half.. Love Love. Not to mention all the delicious juices & smoothies to choose from. What a little gem. Will be back soon :)
Adrian Ziller
Absolutely amazing. Great setting. Peaceful. Good service, the vegetarian fair is just a taste adventure. Taking non - Vegetarians may be risky...but the food is great and everyone will leave satiated.<br/><br/>Get there early in the weekend as they are always packed.

I was visiting Joburg and wanted to go for lunch somewhere I could sit outdoors in a natural setting, rather than a shopping mall. I remembered seeing this spot previously when at their neighbour, Casalinga, so decided to give it a try. Well we were blown away. My husband and I both had the buffet. Anyone who doesn't think that healthy, organic, vegan, dairy-free food could possibly taste good, must try this place! An incredible variety of delicious salads, breads, dips, and hot foods to choose from. Everything is so tasty! My husband (a non-vegetarian) could not stop raving about the food. Their service is attentive and friendly as well. After lunch we took a relaxing stroll through the large veggie garden from where they source many of their ingredients. Definitely my new best Jhb spot!
Liswa
Every thing about this place is magical:<br/><br/>The setting, the food, the organic wines, the staff - <br/>Round all of this off with a walk through the beautiful gardens where all the produce is grown. <br/><br/>I was blown away. <br/><br/>
Michelleprangley2
Tasty food. Big variety when you have the buffet. I like taking a walk through the garden. Great to have such fresh healthy meal while sitting outdoors. I like the vibe. And the Leafy Greens recipe book is worth buying.
Salmon22
Situated on an organic farm in Muldersdrift this is one of my favourite restaurants in JHB. Visit on the weekend for the lunch buffet. Best variety of vegan food, and my favourite because my non vegan family loves going here too and eating veganised versions of their favourite foods which are freshly prepared from the organic pickings on the farm. Don't think lots and lots of salads.. be prepared to be amazed! Vegan. Ever tasted so good. You'll end up rolling out of there, because you'll want to try everything. My favourite is the pizza, Mexican dip and kale salad with added dried olives. And freshly made chocolate Brazilian nut mylk!
Lauren.penkin
Amazing Food & Atmosphere! <br/>Highly recommend to anyone vegan or not. There are many options to chose from and a beautiful shop to wonder around in
Michelle Lorraine
Truth through nutrition, what an amazing way to start off a Sunday! From the location to the staff and the main attraction - the delicious vegan food. This place is definitely a hidden gem!
Megan K
Absolutely love this spot. The food is absolutely sublime. Such an incredible selection of home made vegan deliciousness. My husband is the most anti vegan, meat loving human you will ever meet. I basically had to drag him here. Well, he loved it. Didn't even notice the lack of meat/dairy in his food. Bookings are essential, and would suggest getting there early for the first pickings. God bless the owners of leafy greens!
Cory
Can't say I'm impressed. Sure, I'm carnivorous but that does not mean that I don't understand or don't eat veg - quite the contrary. For the breakfast buffet there were; crispy fried potato skins, fried potato (slap) chips, fried onion rings, fried (sautéed) mushrooms, fried tofu, fried (sautéed) soya sausage, wilted spinach... To be the ultimate "unhealthy" meal all it needed was fried bacon, fried eggs or a chargrilled steak. The "freshly squeezed this morning" veg juice in a bottle was tasteless and watered down. Add to that exorbitant prices for everything. Ok, so vegan is a cool fashion statement - or not. Maybe lunch will be more interesting. Won't be back to try it though. Must say however, the people who work there are really friendly and helpful. The setting is beautiful and the location feels like country side away from home but on the doorstep. But, the friendly people and the lovely setting still does not make up for boring food. Sorry.
FatCake101
As a vegetarian, this is one of the best places I've been to. The food is amazing, very healthy and organic. Love the chilled vibe they have. If you're looking for somewhere to relax on a Sunday afternoon, this place is definitely recommended. Foods are all freshly made and even the ice cream is homemade. It may be a bit pricey, but it's worth it !
Kate Fitz-Gibbon
The food is outstanding, the service is AMAZING thanks Lynn. I loved everything from the buffet, which is rare to have that kind of buffet experience. The chocolate Brazil nut milk is the perfect choc milk to make you feel like a kid again. The choc caramel tart is probably the vegan cake I've ever had, rich creamy and the perfect amount of sweetness.
Kevin Barrie Levy
This is a vegan paradise where even meat eaters will be delighted and satisfied. Coming on a Sunday offers a delicious buffet breakfast and lunch with a wide variety of delicious, fresh and amazing foods to try. Friendly and attentive staff in a relaxed, country setting makes for a truly fabulous and special day out. #KevFabFood Highly recommended

Fantastic country setting. Beautiful location in manicured gardens and between fruit trees. Nice drive from JHB. Friendly service and excellent vegan desserts.
Samantha Reynolds
The best vegan food in South Africa!!!! I strongly advise you go and try the buffet (Friday, Sat, Sun) Soooo many choices and all equally delicious. You can have an entirely raw plate or cooked or a mixture. Everything is fresh from their organic garden and made with love under the watchful eye of owner Antonio. the setting is beautiful - on the lovely farm so be sure to have a wonder through the gardens afterwards. Best chocolate vegan ice cream ever!!
Candice Lowe
The buffet has incredible variety with something to suit everyone. Kids are welcomed and there are lots of healthy options for them. After your meal stop at the playground with the children and enjoy the sun. <br/><br/>Antonia does an incredible event every month with Adventure Clubs (download the app to book) for children aged 2 to 6.
Veemal Naik
A heaven for a Vegan or Vegetarian to visit. A good set of variety to choose from and good salads in view, the kale salad was yum as the Homemade kimchi was Devine. The chickpea curry was good, just a bit to much turmeric for my palate as it made it a bit bitter. But overall a good meal experience. Will defiantly be back, a good vegetarian place for a Veggie Mite like me.
KarmaZebra
My birthday lunch gave me the opportunity to drag my entire, skeptical, family along to what my carbi & carnivorous brother referred to as the "grazing meadows"!!! <br/>As expected, his sarcasm was soon swallowed when he saw the spectacular spread on offer! Of course, the craft beer selection didn't hurt either, but this is a great offering of Leafy Greens that often deters my dining partners from other veggie establishments. <br/>From the Craft Beers and Vegan Pizza to the Coconut Coffees and and decadent desserts; I cannot fault anything at Leafy Greens and the fact that it has won the hearts of my whole family too makes it my number one restaurant for life! 💚
Ilselovetoeat
Gourmet vegetarian delicious wholesome food! We had the lunch buffet under trees, beautiful setting and just amazing what flavored and variety can be achieved with vegetables! We will be back!
Dana
Love Leafy green. Gorgeous food in a peaceful setting. Healthy and filling. Buffet excellent and smoothies great. Cheesecake absolutely wonderful.
Jill Nudelman
Didn't love the breakfast. We chose to sit inside, which was dully-lit and decor-dreary and definitely not as pleasant as sitting outside - but we were feeling bone-cold after our 21km Cradle run. Breakfast was a choice of hot or cold buffet. Chose hot. Looked nicer than it tasted. I'm just warning you - beware those chili poppers. They were hot hot hot! <br/>But the place is stunning! Take a walk around the gardens - they grow what they serve. It's worth the drive.
Dallace Rickson Jolly
I found myself here for a business meeting but was pleasantly surprised, Leafy Greens is a raw food, vegan-friendly cafĂ© which serves plant-based cuisine ...and I am not a vegan. The tranquil country setting is the perfect space to relax in a warm, rustic and welcoming environment where you’ll be nourished inside and out. I helped myself from the spread on the harvest table and can honestly say I was blown away by the flavour each dish delivered.  I would not say no to going back.
Clinton Milne
Raw and Vegan peeps this is the place for you...All veg grown on premises and you can taste the freshness. Only downside is the per plate, big or small or a bowl buffet setup and it's a bit pricey. Probably because it's for a niche market. Great little shop as well.
Sabelo Dhlamini
I went here for the first time with a friend. The food was great, I don't usually eat vegan food. More vegetarian options but everything here tasted amazing and the food had a lot of flavour. I though the dessert would not be as sweet, but you proved me wrong <br/>The service was quick and everyone was friendly.<br/>Thank you for the great service
Karl Meiring
Great healthy food with a nice outdoor vibe. Had a beautiful walk on the property after breakfast! Great value for money. A great way to start your day đŸ‘đŸ€—

Visited 2017-03-21 for Lunch Buffet.  The most amazing selection of foods to choose from, all of which are expertly made and mouthwatering delicious.  Our party had grown from 2 to 4 people, and without amending the booking (Never leave it to a man) we were accommodated.  The little shop inside the restaurant is wonderful too.  We will definitely return.
Gillian
Outstanding food. Average service. And I'm a major meat eater but I found many options and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Well worth a visit for adults only generally unless your kid has a very well developed palette.
Mars West
Delicious vegetarian food.<br/>Enjoyed sitting outside.<br/>Ordered buffet lunch. Can only dish up once though, but food was very filling.<br/>Wide variety of dishes to choose from.<br/>Two plate sizes: side plate = R80<br/>Dinner plate = R120<br/>Drinks are a little expensive if you're looking to order something unusual.<br/>Had Chaga coffee with almond milk, very good 👍<br/>Awesome coffee shop next door that sells coffee beans.<br/>Very pleasant for experience.

New into the world of vegan eating my wife and i have been struggeling to find places where we are comfortable choosing dishes of a menu. This was the first time could sit back and enjoy myself knowing that my lifestyle choice wasnt a burden on the waiting or kitchen staff. Still trying to figure out our daily menu, i thought i had done enough research to know what a vegan diet entails. What a fool i was. The food served at Lunch buffet was eye opening and any fears i had of my limited choice was put to bed. A selection of food that made me smile from ear to ear. I have not eaten so well since staring our vegan journey and will remember this experience for some time to come. Installed this app just to thank Leafy greens for the wonderfull effort they put into their business.
Selma Baldi Richardson
Will turn any carnivore into a vegan. Mouth-watering delectable and healthty vegan dishes under the trees on a sunny highveld afternoon. And no harm was done to any creature in the preparation of your food. A win-win, feel-good place. We will always come back.
KossieFlossie
Went there for lunch on Sunday. Have always loved their food and find their buffet stunning. However, after going there on Sunday for the first time in a while I was shocked at how expensive its gotten! R165 per person for the buffet is steep! I would pay that in a heart beat if you could go back for seconds but you can't without them charging extra!! My boyfriend had a smoothie, I had a juice, we had 2 charcoal shots and a plate of food each from the buffet and it came close to R600!!! I would not pay that kind of money at a place like leafy greens. No alcohol and no dessert. That's seriously steep. Also, they never have music playing and they have such a beautiful space yet there is no ambience. No thank you. I have a juicer, a nutribullet and Antonias cookbook at home. I rather make it myself. Leafy greens you wont be seeing us again sorry!
Michael Morton
Went through for the Sunday buffet! I am by no means a vegan... but I enjoyed every single thing that I managed to squeeze on my plate! Incredible selection.. amazing food in such a cool setting! Will definitely be back!
Farrah Rymer
Beautiful setting but the food and service was awful. The lattes we ordered had curdled. Not a fantastic vegan experience and won't be returning
No Time To Waste
Food and venue were both really great. Both flavors and textures had quite the party in my mouth. <br/><br/>Had heard great things about the food from friends but didn't check out these reviews until now. There seems to be echo of opinion on the awesome of food and mediocre to terrible services? Yeah the service was bad and our waiter seemed arrogant. <br/><br/>Leafy Greens, could you please up your service so I can give you a 5/5 please, and celebrate the eating of vegan food? <br/><br/>That's all. Thanks.
Kyle
I always wanted to go to Leafy greens and try the vegeterian menu. The food was good but the service was really really poor. We had two different waiters serving us and we waited long every time. But besides the service its a great venue and the food is great.
Tally Leach
If every meal I had was like this, I'd go vegetarian in a heart beat. Such unique tastes that burst with flavour. The lunch buffet is a must. The only downfall of this restaurant is the service.
Sabrina
Its not very often that we wonder off to the west rand however on this occasion we decided to stop off at Leafy Greens for lunch.<br/><br/>We started our lunch off with a coconut and an extremely yummy fresh mango juice.<br/><br/>Lunch was the buffet. Now natually I'm not the biggest fan of buffets, they always remind me of sad, thrown together catering events of food thats been standing for hours. <br/>Having said that, I've heard that Leady Greens buffet is actually pretty decent. <br/><br/>Now thats an understatement. With the biggest variety of healthy, organic, freshly picked and made vegan options to choose from.<br/>I chose a little bit of everything which ended up being the entire plate.<br/>Hiding my enormous plate of vegan yumminess I headed off to our table.<br/><br/>Fresh, raw julienne veggies in a rice paper wrap; incredible spinach pasta, probably the best vegan version of Chilli con carne, 'caprese salad', roasted potatoes and salsa.<br/><br/>We somehow managed to work our way through this enormous meal. So full we couldn't even move.<br/>We asked the waiter to suggest a dessert we could force down. He suggested the cheesecake.<br/><br/>Now that was something. Getting a normal cheesecake right is a challenge on its own. But making a delectable VEGAN cheesecake, OH. MY. YUM. Chocolate cheesecake with a coconut crust. Agh ❀<br/><br/>We ordered cappuccinos with the dessert. Now being Italian maybe it wasn't fair putting a vegan cappuccino against traditional ones. Loved the coconut sugar, that was divine and very cool. But the actual cappuccino wasn't great at all.<br/><br/>Service could have been better. The waiters seemed to walk straight past us, without a care in the world. Things seemed to take muuuch longer to happen than they should. They were lovely when they were there though. <br/><br/>It also seemed slightly pricy, we didnt over-do it and the bill came to almost R600. However I understand a lot more work goes into making these dishes, the products of which can't be cheap.<br/><br/>What made the entire experience worth it was walking down through the orchards, seeing all the fresh, organically grown produce that we just ate. As well as the chickens whose eggs are used and sold in the store.<br/><br/>So my advice; the buffet is amazing !! and SO worth a try but go there hungry. You cannot miss out on the dessert but maybe give the coffees a skip, perhaps a tea is a better option. And do not go in a hurry, this is a very chilled, laid back restaurant. <br/><br/>Xx

First I'm proud that they flaunt which specific products are truly organic! The Sunday lunch buffet is a gorgeous vegan treat: salads, kale crisps, dips, nachos, gluten free pizza, breads, "meatballs", "sushi" wraps, pasta bakes...<br/><br/>I like the idea of sharing desserts platters too! The chocolate ice-cream was more a decadent, lavish mousse - it would have been perfect had it been frozen! We brought some yummies for my sister: the chocolate caramel tart is intense, and the strawberry cheesecake was more to my tastebuds: smooth, creamy but lighter.<br/><br/>I also enjoyed a cherry kombucha. And they have a splendid wine list! There is complimentary iced tea✹<br/><br/>One thing: very slow service, even for a Sunday! But the friendliness all about is infectious! The best is how many families were there to try out this healthy, organic way 💘🍓

For someone who is allergic to milk leafy greens is paradise. Loved the chocolate brownies and the strawberry cheese cake. Didn't miss the lack of meat. The buffet is great for trying a lot of the meals there. Though being forcing to dish 1 one gaint plate is a little impractical

Interesting place for vegans. No milk products. The food is different for my taste buds.<br/><br/>My colleagues loved the food and will get their families here <br/><br/>The setting of place is stunning and the service is the best

One of my most favourite restaurants! I am not vegan but do follow a vegetarian lifestyle, however, I encourage everyone to take a trip to enjoy the Sunday Buffet at Leafy Greens. I took my meat-loving boyfriend and father here and they both could not believe that there was zero animal by-products on their plates! They thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I always leave with a full tummy and feeling completely content.

Freshest Food in town with a beautiful tranquil surrounding! Situated on an organic farm in Muldersdrift, this is a hidden gem for vegetarians/vegans. The buffet is full of fresh dishes, including beautifully created salads, dips (french onion dip is out of this world), curries, hearty soups and fantastic desserts. Well worth a drive out of town!

Went to Leafy Greens Café on Saturday for the first time. As a lover of anything meaty I was interested to see how my pallet would react....and boy was it happy!!!! The food is fantastic, wil definitely be back for more.

Leafy Greens has to be one of my fav healthy hot spots! Incredible lunch buffet that is healthy, hearty and filling! My husband is an absolute carnivore yet still went up for seconds and had space for the raw chocolate orange cheesecake! So for anyone who has doubts that 'healthy' ain't tasty... Think again!!

Popped in the other day and found it to be Melville-in-the-country style. However, despite its alternative setting the food was out of this world. Really enjoyed the buffet and I'm not even a vegan. Excellent selection and the malted carob was to die for. Will be back

An abundance of fresh, raw foods suitable for vegetarians and vegans alike. The menu is diverse packed with nutrients. The even warn you - don't eat too much, 'cause the food leaves you high. A buffet option is also available.

LITERALLY MY FAVOURITE! :) I love love love Leafy Greens. If I lived any closer I would be there all the time. <br/><br/>The lunch buffet is just fantastic. I know it's pricey at R145 for a large plate, but I pile that plate up and get serious value for money. Plus, you know that everything you are eating is organic, super clean, vegan (obvs) and DELICIOUS. I have never been disappointed. The service was always on point (shout out to Jasper - he was great) and the setting is so beautiful. <br/><br/>It's my go to spot for a nice relaxed Sunday lunch and I really really wish that it was just a bit closer to town... <br/><br/>PS: Open up a sister branch in Parkhurst ;) You'll make a killing.

I was excited to visit this place because my friends had set the bar real high and i am a vegetarian! Everything was fresh, light and tasty. I was absolutely happy with everything that was laid out- would love to visit again ! <br/><br/>There is a nice little coffee place outside leafy green. That too worked well post the scrumptious meal!

I should state upfront that I am the furthest thing from vegan so my taste buds have been tainted by my carnivorous and dairy eating habits! This little spot attached to Casalinga has a very generous buffet on a Sunday with all sorts of vegan options including pizza, salads, breads & dips. The food was fresh & delicious, not to mention surprisingly filling. Personally I would have loved a little bit of real butter to go with the fresh bread as an option. They also do not use cows milk for coffee (obviously the vegans would say but if you are not vegan it can take you by surprise!). Very popular little spot felt they could really spruce it up a little to match the nearby beauty and elegance of Casalinga.

Food? Exceptional! <br/>Freshly prepared and tasty? Heck yes! <br/>Variety? Tons! <br/>Ambience and setting? There's a cosy indoor seating available if you're allergic to nature and then there's a lovely seating area outside under some trees. What's not to love about that? <br/>Will you miss your meat if you're not vegan? Not likely! <br/>For a few hours you'll probably forget the existence of meat. <br/>Will you be full with their large plate (R155) serving? Stuffed would be a more appropriate answer. <br/><br/>Downsides? Service both times I visited have been rather disappointing. Staff need to be better trained. <br/><br/>Note: Take a walk through their veggie gardens after having lunch. Gorgeous sight! Helps to digest too after the meal ;) <br/><br/>

What a great breakfast buffet. It really is full of feel good food. Ate a lot of food and I didn't even feel stuffed (it's a good thing)! Organic is the way to go.

Innovative, healthy and simple food menu. Had a great breakfast buffet. Some of the ingredients I read for the first time but apparently superfoods. Saw the lunch buffet also looked delicious. Fresh ingredients, countryside setting and great people <br/><br/>Of course the downside for non-vegetarians is that it is pure vegetarian restaurant<br/><br/>Mitesh

I'm always up for anything, so when a friend of mine invited me to join at leafy greens, I had heard so much about it that I was there in a flash.<br/>The setting is open and you have a choice of inside or outside.<br/>It was a stunning day, so the outside was packed and we sat inside near an open window.<br/>The food was laid out like a harvest table and I tried a tiny bit of most of the unusual dishes, thinking that what ever blew me away would be the dish I would return to.<br/>It turned out to be quite a disappointment as I never returned to the table and landed up leaving quite hungry.<br/>I am not a vegetarian, however I will often choose a vegetarian meal over other choices, which have bursting flavour and unfortunately not a single thing I tasted here delivered that flavour punch for me.<br/>The service was friendly<br/>The price was leaning towards high for the experience <br/>

I don't have words to explain how GOOD and full of flavour out of this world amazing their food is. <br/>Vegetarian food has never tasted so good. <br/>It's a very casual setting and the staff is very friendly. <br/>We will be coming here every chance we get for their Sunday buffet.

This was quite a rare experience for me, as I have to admit I am a meat lover over and over again.. <br/><br/>On a random drive through Muldersdrift, we went on Zomato and checked places nearby.. This one came up and seemed quite interesting, so we tried it out.<br/><br/>I was overwhelmed by the complete vegan menu but it was a different and nice experience..<br/><br/>The atmosphere is great and they have a wonderful selection.. I don't see myself going back in a hurry (as said before..I need meat) but for anyone following a vegan diet, this is definitely the place for you!

This restaurant is amazing! The food is so fresh, the vibe is so relaxing with a choice to sit indoors or outside. I got to drink from a coconut which was such an experience. The buffet was delicious!!! The staff are extremely kind. The restaurant is very pet friendly and welcomed my furry friend with a bowl of water. The desserts are yummy! I recommend the strawberry cheesecake. The restaurant also has strawberry lemon flavored water.

Wow!<br/><br/>I have just had the most glorious sunday lunch with my two brothers at the lovely Leafy Greens - who ever thought that vegan food could be THIS good? Such a treat! Delicious food, friendly staff and all in such a wonderful location 🌿 the lunch buffet is a must with great flavours and...

We had a good time in Leafy Green. We were not sure that we could enjoy vegan meal. But, the meal was totally changed our mind of vegan food. Food was so fresh, the ingredients were from their gardens and prepared so well. We had buffet. Seriously, my hubby could not finish the food he wanted to try. Their smoothies are great.

Big surprise for me.<br/>Somewhere I would typically have glanced over and gone to Casalinga next door.<br/><br/>Thing is... I was invited along with a family who also love their meat and had no idea they were entering a vegan restaurant, so after many bemused smiles, we decided to see what was available.<br/>Turns out... After 11, the ala carte menu... isn't (didn't really look like a breakfast menu to me but anyway...)<br/>So, all that was left was the buffet.<br/><br/>I will say.. I found it quite pricey (R150 for a normal size plate, R85 for a sideplate) on top of which you are charged 50% of that price if you go back for seconds.)<br/>You are also charged extra if you have a big helping ... <br/>However, they do specify that the food is very nutrient dense, ie.. You don't need a lot and it fills you up, that was very true.<br/>Secondly... The actual food, whilst being stuff you may have never heard of (dehydrated falafel balls and the like) was absolutely divine.<br/><br/>I was with a table of 20 very skeptical people when we arrived and everyone loved it.<br/>One aunt in particular actually called the waiter aside in the beginning just to make sure it wasn't a joke and at the end was writing down menu items she wants to try cook at home.<br/><br/>For me, the deserts were even better, freshest cheesecake I've had and all the chocolate is organic and sugar and dairy free... I WILL go back for the deserts alone.<br/><br/>Absolute experience, I urge you to try it.

I'm not a vegetarian and this place is not your typical vegetarian hangout, the place is surrounded by trees and foliage which makes for a wonderful ambiance. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming and the variety at Leafy Greens will keep you coming back to sample the plethora of accessible vegetarian dishes, especially the Sunday buffet, if you are in a raw mood, of course there are plenty of creative greens and mixed leaf combos, fresh vegetables and exquisite dips. The taste and flavours were exceptional!

What can I say.. We just had a really really great lunch at Leafy Greens. <br/>Starting from the atmosphere which is so calming and nice to the great food and the variety of dishes to choose from. Everything from the buffet tasted so rich and healthy and gooood. We will definitely be back soon!

The food is absolutely delicious for vegan food. I quite enjoyed it as a temporarily converted vegan. The service though could be greatly improved.

I enjoyed Leafy Greens very much. We are not vegetarian/vegan, but the food was excellent, value for money, and lasts for the whole day. All ingredients come from their garden, and is very fresh. However, we did feel a little uncomfortable when we ordered coffee, because there is no refined sugars or cow's milk. So you should basically know what you would like to replace your sugar and milk with. A must try for everyone!

I visited this restaurant a little while ago and it was a different experience to what I thought it would be. The gardens are beautiful and worth taking a walk around for the fresh air and scenernity. There are very few resturants in Johannesburg that have such a vast variety of meals that contain no meat at all and this is one of the better ones around. <br/><br/>I would prefer seeing more protein on the menu such as a simple bean salad or a meal with some indian influence but I did enjoy most of the food they had to offer. However, I was not mad on the smoothie I had so next time I will try another. <br/><br/>It is best to try the buffet on a sunday afternoon as it is good quality and value for money. Do not forget the dessert as it is worth a try!

Was invited for a birthday function, unaware that this is a strictly vegan restaurant. <br/><br/>Firstly, their pricing is by no means reasonable. Especially, considering that if it's your first time there (as with me), and you're spending R140 on a buffet with dishes you've never tried, and half of them you don't enjoy. Further still, when you return for seconds for dishes you did actually enjoy, you're charged again. Waste of money in my opinion.<br/><br/>Secondly, I find any place highly annoying that caters strictly to one cuisine. The lack of options only reduces your businesses opportunity to earn an income from walk-ins/guests attending a function. If a steak restaurant has vegetarian options, I don't understand why the reverse cannot happen.<br/><br/>Lastly, the service wasn't anything to justify the costs.<br/><br/>Verdict: I won't be back and don't recommend you go, even as a vegan.

Leafy Greens is worth the drive to Muldersdrift. It is situated on a beautiful piece of land filled with crops that will be used to create your meal. Everything at this restaurant is organic and Vegan. <br/><br/>Not convinced if you will like Vegan food? Well, my group of girlfriends decided to take their meat-lover boyfriends along and they were all pleasantly surprised as to how good vegan food can be. <br/><br/>Leafy Greens does an excellent job of creating delicious meals with all sorts of flavours and textures. Come for a Sunday Buffet in the garden and enjoy everything incredible that they have to offer.

Situated in Muldersdrift, the drive to this restaurant almost feels like a mini road-trip. It is tucked away in a beautiful setting which adds to the eating experience. <br/><br/>The Sunday buffet draws in people from all over Jo'burg and the place is packed to the brim. You have the option of selecting a large plate (R145) or a small plate (R85) for the buffet. And myyyyy goodness, are you absolutely spoilt for choice! <br/>Raw pizza, chickpea curry, freshly baked gluten free bread, lentil pasta, soup - and the list goes on. Along with your buffet plate, is an iced-tea and water station to complement your meal. <br/><br/>A word of warning - if you are a regular meat eater, visit this place with an open mind. The menu options are completely absent of anything meat or dairy related. <br/><br/>There is also a fully stocked store in the restaurant which is super impressive and keeps all the ingredients used in the menu, and more. <br/><br/>An enjoyable experience overall, yet not at the top of my 'vegan restaurant' list.

I'll be honest I'm a huge fan of heathy eating but I am of no means a vegan, and even though I love my meat this food is surprisingly Fulfilling. <br/>The buffet on Sunday is Definately my recommendation as you get to try a little bit of everything and you can put as much as you want on your plate. <br/>Buffet includes foods such as raw pizzia, gluten free pizza, homemade hummus, homemade quacamole, gluten free bread, salads, lentils, chick pea curry, rice spring rolls ect. <br/><br/>This place is Definately worth the drive - and the surroundings make you feel somewhat out of Johannesburg.

Best vegan buffet out there! The dishes are fresh and imaginative. Everything is scrumptious and the banana 'cream' pie is to die for! The little shop there is also great. It sells some hard to find food products!

Wow wow wow wow wow wow wooooooooooow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <br/><br/>What an impressive place! Its location could not be more perfect and neither could the food . It is absolutely incredible! <br/>I went with my family on a Saturday afternoon, and opted for their buffet option. I am so glad we did , because every SINGLE item on the buffet was exceptionally prepared and delectable!!! <br/>All the food on the buffet is either vegetarian or vegan, so if you are a person who insists on eating meat... you might be disappointed . Although I can say without a doubt in my mind, that you won't miss your meat when you see what's on offer! <br/><br/>I would say the only flaw is that the service is really slow... But that would be my only issue. <br/> <br/>Please do yourself a favor and swing by... You won't regret it .<br/><br/>I will definitely DEFINITELY return!!!

This one's more than just a cafe! Its an experience. Never imagined vegan food can be so so tasty. Do not miss getting lost inside the coniferous forests after a heavy buffet :)
