My Ribeye was absolutely perfect! Cooked to perfection, juicy, tender and scrumptious. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was so looking forward to this meal and it didnāt disappoint.

Great experience here, we opted to go to Turn & Tender as we left like steak and without a booking and a very busy restaurant we were seated. My partner ordered the Argentinian steak (made to perfection) and I had a no fat rump with vegetables. Ah this was outstanding! Thank you Turn & Tender canāt wait to be back!
I went with a friend for their annual birthday special this week. Understandably they are very busy during this week, so one cannot expect the service to be as great as it usually is, however I felt they managed themselves very well. The food was just as delicious as it always is, it came out quickly (great for people rushing in during lunch hour) and there was nothing to complain about.
Turn n Tender is probably my favourite steakhouse in Joburg. Their food is delicious and they always aim to please their customers.
We went to Turn and Tender for the Sundaze burger special (R65 for any original, cheese, pepper or mushroom burger with a side). The burgers were delicious and juicy and the bun was as perfectly toasted! I really enjoyed this meal and will definitely be back.
The consistency, service quality and value for money are always there.
It is a very good casual steak house when you donāt want to splurge in fancy steak houses.
T&T is one of the most consistent steak houses Iāve been too. Iām not sure if they are a franchise or if the brothers own them all but they deliver every time. Come week end itās very busy and you must book to get a decent table-especially in winter! The steaks are cooked to perfection and the chips are excellently cut and nice and hot when they arrive at your table. The secret gem here is the Argentinian spiral cut steak with chimichurri topping! I canāt really explain how the flavor pops in your mouth with each bite! The service is good and the waiters are very attentive. If you donāt like loud restaurants I suggest going for lunch as the energy is much more relaxed
This is my favourite Turn 'n Tender spot. I love the vibe and location. The food has always been great. Steaks are usually the go-to option when I'm here. I tried the calamari which was really good and a good option if you want something lighter.
Generous portions. I had the veggie burger which was surprisingly good - mushroom patty was not just one large mushroom but a proper minced and spiced mix. Sides of veggies and chips were done well. Husband had the beef burger which he enjoyed. A friend had chicken livers which was a starter but looked like a main - this too was enjoyed. Another friend had the ostrich steaks which looked amazing and was as good as a very well done steak. Will be back to try a meat dish once the craving hits.
Last night I had my birthday dinner here. I love this place and did my birthday dinner here last year too. Although the food was amazing as always, the service was not. The waiter had attitude at a big table. Yes ppl came late which was annoying and it was a big table, but he was mostly nowhere to be seen. Including when my friends asked about my birthday ice cream. Bad service means bad tip. Of course he yanked all the slips away to count before we did and sat waiting for more tip. The place was not full so there's no excuse. Thanks for a great birthday š
Great steakhouse. Turn and tender is a good chain, some of them are better than others. This one in illovo is particularly good. The steak is delicious, try the rump with fat, pepper crusted on a skillet. It's a great cut and cooked to perfection. Service is on the ball, friendly and well trained. Lovely place for a Friday night dinner. Paired with Springfield wholeberry, it's a great choice.
The service here wasn't the greatest but I must admit...they make a really good steak. The company I had was great, with some good wine and well cooked sirloin, I had an overall good experience. Apart from the bad service, I enjoyed it :)
We had the Turn 'n Tender R40 steak special! It was indeed a special! Skeptical at first, would we really get a good piece of steak for R40 only? But we did. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here!
Love the burgers and steaks when ever I go there the people are nice and have a nice time with family and friends. I especially like the rumps.

If you are looking or a place for a quick and efficient lunch out, this is a good bet. I met with a colleague and ex colleague for lunch with limited time. The service is quick, the steaks a great and the deserts and full of carbs! ;)
My colleague ordered the special, a sirloin caprese, served with melted mozzarella, baby tomatoes and a balsamic reduction.
I went for the 200g sirloin, medium rare. The fat was not as crisp as I like, but cooked as ordered. I requested the veg on the side and this came with the usual creamed spinach and pumpkin, as well as some cabbage.
The restaurant has convenient parking and it is always packed on a lunchtime and full of buzz. I would suggest you book a table, just in case.
This is not an exciting choice of restaurant for me but its predictably consistent if nothing else. I don't love the ambience: inside, it's dark and cavernous. If the weather is nice, sit outside. But the steaks are excellent. The boerewors is fabulous but ask for it medium rare and don't have it served on a skillet, otherwise it gets dry. Had the trinchado - a first for me, and it was fantastic! Full of flavour, hot and served with delicious bread. The kingklip, salmon and prawns are good too. Service is professional. Corkage is really reasonable at R45. And the place is always open - even when every other restaurant in Johannesbug is closed (like for supper on 25th December). And of the three Turn 'n Tenders I've tried, I like this one the best.
I came here for dinner on a Thursday night and was surprised at how busy it was, but even though it was packed we managed to get a table.
I ordered the steak and calamari combo, and really enjoyed it. The steak was perfectly cooked and the calamari was tasty. I'd definitely go back soon!
My starters were a tasty tartare and Greek salad - no worries there - and, for mains, we shared the 800g Sirloin, topped with a tasty and colorful chimichurri sauce.It was an enjoyable and substantial meal, though the big letdown here was that we'd asked to have it rare (indeed, stressed it), but it was more like medium rare. Not good, especially for a restaurant that classifies itself as a steakhouse.The chips were very oily indeed, and the creme brulee that I ordered for desert had a soggy top. Everyone in the civilised world knows that the great joy of the creme brulee, apart from its sweet taste, is the opening ritual of cracking the hard top with a smart tap of the spoon. The friendly and hugely attentive staff compensated for most of these ills, however.
T&T in Illovo is one of Joburgās most popular steakhouses. Great atmosphere, perfectly cooked meat and delicious sides and sauces. Service is attentive and waiters are extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend the fillet ācut for twoā with crispy chips, onion rings and chimichurri sauce on the sideā¦YUM!
Came here for their lunchtime special, which is a 200g sirloin with a side for R65! Their steaks are always great and had an amazing vanilla milkshake as well. The service was also good and it's not often that you can go out for a meal in Joburg for under R100.
The steak is amazing, cooked to perfection every time, and the service is great. I'm always disappointed with their desserts however :( but everything else- two thumbs up!!!
This used to be my favourite restaurant; been a fan since the 70's -BUT last night the famous brands influence was evident and the personal touch and taste is gone - what a shame that the brothers sold out - I won't be back

Always feels like home and the new items on the menu are amazing. My starter was the curry prawns and they went all the way up. My main was the Argentina sirloin which was amazing both on the night and the morning after. My parents and my sister struggled with the ribs which was strange because TnT is known for its ribs and that's the only reason they didn't get a 5, The manager gave us free dessert for that thou. We will be back and thank you for the awesome service š
This establishment really brings out the lioness in me. I always order the same meal, as I know how amazing it is, and last night's beef ribs were the best ever! I really love the fact that you can order your meat, and ribs specifically, unbasted... and they are still absolutely divine!Ā

This is our go to place for celebrations. Always very accommodating, steaks cooked to perfection and the sides are always fresh and delicious. I seriously reccomend the chimichurri add on for the steak, a little pricey but worth it. Warm, comfortable atmosphere and the sevice is always on par

We started with the biltong carpaccio which was a different dish but so good! For mains we shared the Pichana-Style steak and was so delish! The steak is served on a skillet and carved right at the table in front of you. The service is always impeccable and food cannot be faulted! Always love dining here with friends after work or a family outing.
Came for date night and was not disappointed. Delicious scallops for starters followed by a medium rare fillet steak. I tried the signature chimmichurri sauce but was not a fan at all.. I much prefer the creamy mushroom sauce. We shared a delicious honeycomb cheesecake for dessert. The waiters were excellent and it was all in all a lovely evening.
My friend and I decided to try out Turn n Tender for lunch after having walked past it before at Thrupps. We both ordered their lunch time special 200g steak with chips. The steaks were cooked medium rare as requested and the chips were nice and crispy. A nice touch to be asked whether we wanted our meal served on a plate or skillet - we opted for skillets as we were sitting outside and it was cooler than indoors. Good meat and good value for money. We seemed to have a tag-team of trainee waiters serving us - the fact that they were trainees was not an issue at all (very good service), but it was a little confusing having more than one waiter (one would come ask if we needed more drinks even though we had already placed orders with another waiter who had asked us previously). All in all though, great restaurant. Will be back.
Started out with the chicken livers to start , well cooked but have had better , the roasted biltong was a very small portion for the price. I ordered the fillet medium with the roast potatoe, it was actually a large potatoe cut in half and roasted , unusual but very nice. The fillet was cooked perfectly and had a great taste. When TnT first opened I did not particularly like their basting , I believe it has changed ever so slightly and now a great taste
Always a great meal and a great vibe. The steaks are obviously excellent! Love the outside area. Much more space and a good place to soak up the winter sun. I don't know what is better, the fillet steak or the rump. So hard to decide between the two! Pepper crusted is non negotiable! As well as the pepper sauce! Don't miss out'!

Happy birthday TnT and thank you for sharing an amazing special! Jaw dropping value for R39, quality 300g sirloin and sides. Arriving at 12pm the place was heaving, service was excellent even though pressurized and on the run. Our food arrived promptly and we were finished within an hour. All staff helped each other and the vibe was electric. Expect a short wait if over lunchtime as this has proved a popular promotion.
We visited today for their birthday special (300g Sirloin with any side for R39) during lunchtime and despite them being really busy we were helped by someone immediately and shown to a table. The environment is relaxed and cosy, great for knocking back a beer or two.
We placed our drinks and mains with our friendly waitress and received both within minutes of each other! They are so incredibly on top of their game with regards to service.
And the food- beautiful! Steak was perfectly done, and they were generous with their sides. Thoroughly enjoyed everything!

Absolutely great meat at Turn n tender. The quality and cooking of the meat was great. We had a biltong pletter for starter that was great. The steaks that we ordered was really scrumptious, juicy and very tasty. The restaurant was very busy and the service was great. Very friendly staff at the restaurant and the manager also made sure everything was perfect. To have a great steak, turn n tendee is definitely one of the better steak houses around. Very happy cuatomer and enjoyed my evening at the restaurant.
What a fabulous restaurant. The food is always but always above amazing. We have not had a bad experience here. Sometimes the medium rare isn't exactly medium or rare, it differs from chef to chef I guess. But great staff and lovely vibe.
Love Turn and Tender but sadly although the meal was really fantastic the rather "grumpy" waitress did not help especially considering we were celebrating a birthday.
If the occupation of the seats is anything to go by, it's little wonder this institution continues to thrive. Consistent, simple food will leave you feeling like you've never left.
Really enjoy visiting this Turn and Tender branch as they are consistently great. The burger special on a Sunday night is fantastic. My favourite side dish for the burger is the French salad. As an extra I would recommend the onion rings they are thin and crispy. Recently tried the calamari starter which was tasty and the portion size was good. The beef ribs are also a winner. Service is always excellent.
These guys know good meat and how to cook it! Never been disappointed by this restaurant. Great service and decor just sometimes too pricey for the weekly budget.

Absolutely awesome all round service and of course the food was really great!!! My friend and I ordered the rump and sirloin respectively!!! Fantastic! BUT! The mushroom sauce sucked really badly... white sauce with mushrooms very bland and extremely floury!! Only let down of the evening! Aside from the Boks losing that is....
One of my favorites when I am craving a good steak. Brian and his team are always courteous and the service is excellent. Their lunchtime special for R69 is a complete win. The only problem is finding the will to go back to work afterwards. Consistently good food and a a varied menu. Highly recommended.

This place is always so packed and I can totally understand why!! I had lemon and herb chicken breast fillet with baked potatoes and some vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection just how I like it. Service was great, we just had to wait long because we didn't have a reservation but so worth it. Book to avoid disappoint !
I HIGHLY recommend that TnT lovers order the Argentinian style fillet (or even the rump or anything pretty much). Not only is the Argentinian style a healthier dish compared to its basting counterparts, but it just makes the meat ooze with flavour!

Always a staple - haven't been disappointed yet. The rib-eye and point rump are definite winners (and so are the onion rings). Wine selection is good and so is the service. Ambience isn't anything too out of the ordinary, but then again the food is the real focal point.

The Illovo store is always packed ( and for a good reason) so best to book in the evening. Yet despite the fact the service is great and food consistently good. Definitely one of the best in the franchise. Stay far far away from nicol way!
We had quite a big table so the service was not as good as it usually is. In my opinion there are better steak houses out there but maybe it just wasn't their night. I had a steak salad and it was good but nothing to shout about. The branch in nicolway is run a bit better.
In the midst of temperatures rising all around johannesburg, there is no denying that restaurants that have a choice of either outside or inside sitting will win more points. Having a good steak altogether with a good craft beer after a busy morning for lunch is refreshing. If you are into Steak, this is the place around Rosebank
Still one of my best meat establishments to visit in JHB. The vibe is always fantastic and the service is also of the highest standard.
Got stuck in a Mervyn Special which was great. Couple sneaky bottles of wine and we where definitely adding to the bustling noise of this great restaurant.

Of all the turn and tender restaurants, this is my favourite. It is almost always full so I recommend reserving a table. The beef ribs are absolutely delicious and full of sauce!!
For someone who only eats steak every now and then, this is definitely my go-to place for steak. The ambience is great, the onion rings are delicious and the steak is made the way I want it!
Went to Turn 'n Tender for my birthday dinner, and I was absolutely blown away! My table had the spare ribs, the ribs and calamari combo, sirloin steak, and the lamb chop ribs. Each meal was raved about and praised, and I can personally say that the lamb chop ribs were the best meal I've had at a restaurant in several months!
The service was wonderful: our waiter recommended a bottle of wine that was probably better than what I could have chosen myself (2014 Flagstone Poetry, for those interested), the drinks and food were delivered in good time, and the waiter gracefully tied bibs around the necks of those having ribs.
Overall, it was an exceptionally delightful evening with tender meat, crispy chips, delicious vegetables and a great wine to boot.
Try before you die: Point Rump head "Picanha" (700g rump steak) and the sautƩed mushrooms as a side.
Oh boy! 700g of rump... Done magnificently. I don't even know how a human being can make a steak so beautifully, especially 700g worth. The sautƩed mushrooms were also done with an amazing sauce and added a delectable twist to the steak.
I would never do 700g of beef again but I would definitely go back for any grilled meat.
We were a large table but thankfully we had an extremely efficient waitress who ensured we were well looked after. We ordered a variety of starters and large table salads which were fresh and tasty.
For mains I had the Entrecote Sirloin Steak with paprika, butter & brandy basting. It was different but full of flavor. Someone had the spare ribs which he described as fabulous. Another in the group had Mervyn's Magic - a 600 gram French-trimmed prime rib of baby beef which was great, but just a touch on the dry side...not juicy enough.
Ended off with a the awesome Bar One Chocolate Ice cream.
Overall a fantastic lunch... Great service and ambience.

Good overall eatery. We sat down, the server was there asking for drink orders, which came quick, we ordered and food came quick! The table had 300g rump, spinach, cabbage, butternut with mushroom sauce and a oxtail poitjie... The poitjie was finger licking and soooo soft!!! The rump was cooked well and veggies tasted yum! We ordered onion rings and thy were good BUT, they were clumped and difficult to pull apart.
Still a very dependable steakhouse. I've been a tad disappointed with last 2 visits - still place greater faith in the Parktown North branch. I'm a boring orderer a a steakhouse - fillet or ribeye is standard. But every now & again I'm nostalgic and I'll have the BBQ beef ribs - so good.
I hope the franchising story won't destroy a phenomenally good chain that made a welcome re-entry after a decade or two after disappearing

Having a sweet tooth does have its standards when it comes to great tasting desserts. I ordered the Chocolate Fudge Meltdown and OMW it was simply delicious, the explosion of taste could not have been any better! A must have!!!
Fantastic establishment that serves up some of the tastiest steak around. No need for a sauce - as the steak with a glaze should be enjoyed as is! There's no word I can use to describe this place. The food, the service, the atmosphere is prodigiosus (I spent 15 minutes googling the word "good" in other languages because English doesn't suffice). Even their coffee is up to scratch. Turn 'n Tender is definitely a winner.
A complete landmark! Turn 'n Tender have been around for years, and it's the absolute best steak spot to go to with friends and family, or even on date night. The food is so good, so fresh and so yummy, you will go back for more and more!
Their steaks are legendary and you will always find the restaurant packed to the brim most nights of the week! The service staff are good, the managers are brilliant, the kitchen staff are also really consistent and I am yet to have a bad experience here.
Great steakhouse in Rosebank with a large variety of meats. They also had plenty of vegetarian options.
The ostrich and oxtail were both delicious. It was a great place to try some traditional SA foods.
They had a large selection of wines as well as South African liquors and a lot of scotch and whiskies too.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable.
300g Fillet with roast veggies + butternut. Steak was cooked very well (medium). Was tender and full of flavour.
Dessert was a condensed milk and raspberry ice cream loaf. Dessert sounds too sweet but the raspberries broke it up and it was very nice.
I am not sure why we dressed so colourful during a recent visit to The Grillhouse Rosebank but we owned it! š„³
I had Hallomi cheese and @SirNoid had the Bone Marrow for starters. Both were great!
I chose the Fillet on the bone with mash and vegetables (didn't get a picture of the pumpkin smiling sorry!) which was delicious but I took most of it home as it was simply too much. @SirNoid stuck with his favourite cut, Rib Eye. Both were rare as requested and full of flavour.
As a side note, I've had the Salmon not so long ago and it is also highly recommended.
We were a bit boring with Dessert but with the current state of the heat down in Africa... Ice cream and chocolate sauce... Hit all the right spots. We always have Cappuccino to end a meal. š
Food is always great at The Grillhouse At Rosebank and I love that the Staff has clearly been there for many years. I do find the plating quite boring but it is on point with classic, dark wood, Steakhouse vibes. It's a pricey night out but still a great spot for celebrations or just a spoil.

The food was outstanding! Good portions too! House wine was not bad. Prices of sparkling water is a bit crazy but the prices for everything else was very reasonable.
Came here for an early dinner and had the beef fillet on the bone and the beef platter, with sides of sweet potato chips and veg. Both were good value for the amount of meat provided. The rub on the beef fillet was excellent - no sauce needed.
My main complaint is that my steak was not cooked correctly - I asked for medium and it was medium rare, close to rare. For a restaurant that specializes in high end grilled meat, I expected better.
Quick and friendly service. The facilities are clean and neat. The food is spectacular and the best steak I've ever had!
