Review Tapas Restaurant - Jeffreys Bay

Sam Basch
I’ve been coming here for many years. The place is starting to look a bit better with the tattered iconic flags on the ceiling now removed. That said the food was excellent and even being very busy the staff were friendly and the service quite good. Nothing quite beats having good food, good wine along with some good company in sight of the waves. Nothing quite beats the casual atmosphere and being able to stick your toes in the sand conversing over a good meal.

A wee bit disappointing as the food that was served was not the Spanish tapas. We expected a variety of tapas ….. The menu had the usual South African seafood range. Tasty. So once you get over the fact that there is no real tapas being served, you will enjoy the fare. Service was good. Quick and cheerful. Ambience was excellent. Right on the beach. What more can one ask for ?

Lots of fun with our drinks in hand, and our feet in the sand. My butterfish was very tasty, and my wife's calamari strips tender. We shared a plate of prawns with the kids. Awesome. Seemed like a bottomless plate.

Birthday party. Food platters were very good. They went the extra mile and placed pienk overlays and flowers on the tables

I absolutely love Tapas, Jeffreys Bay. Food and view is amazing. Been there a few times and it's always top notch. Thanks Tapas waiters for always being friendly and 100% professional 💓

Stunning! Here you can enjoy the best food and friendly service while sitting with your feet in the sand and looking out on the ocean. We will definitely visit again in the future.

Great food, excellent value and quality. Unfortunatly service was slow and lacking but Surf Boertjie was a great toe tapping head bobbing distraction, will most certainly visit again.

At this is the alternative to the Wales kipper on the same beach it was amazing how different the atmosphere is. Tapas is a fantastic family, relaxed seafood restaurant. Feet in sand with friendly and efficient staff. Food is amazing and top quality. We came here 3 times in 4 days and would gladly come again. The menu still has lots to explore. Thank you for making us enjoy our stay in JBay even more. You will definitely see us again.

I loved the atmosphere. I must be very hungry, as I felt the need for a second serving. There must be something unusual, as the staff looked a bit distracted.

It's OK... just very layback what is fine if there is a lot of people but not when there is only 3 people.

You can't complain about the service.. There aren't any... Only drank milkshakes, but looked at the menu. R250 for a plater for one seems a bit too much for me. The lady could really try to be more friendly. The board inside say it all..

Avoid at all cost. No service. Below average food. No help from management. Left whilst waiting for more than 30 minutes for drinks. Stay away. And go anywhere else.

What a fantastic experience! I only have pictures of our starters as they were so good we couldn't wait to tuck into the mains! Starters were creamy garlic snails, fast fried brie cheese, prawn tails and haloumi cheese in bacon. Everyone enjoyed their starters, they were delicious! Mains were 300g rump steak, and chicken schnitzel with calamari (of course I had to get an extra prawn top up with mine) - only reason it's not a 5 rating was the steak being sent back to be warmed up - steak was delicious and cooked to perfection! Chicken schnitzel was juicy and generously sized along with the calamari strips which weren't oily and were scrumptious. Mushroom sauce was a little salty but full of taste. And the chips were also delicious. <br/>Prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. <br/>Service is also amazing and fast, very friendly lady and waiter. I've never seen someone take an order so big and remember everything perfectly. <br/>My family, I and our tunmies are very happy! Thank You!

Awesome food and wine. Decor is vibey and welcome. It's a unique and different place. Put your feet in some beach sand and enjoy some good seafood. Just go. It's worth it.

This location clearly has an attraction, however the service and quality of food was extremely dissapointing. <br/>There are notices to let you know that food takes a hour + and that it will be worth your while, this however is far from reality. <br/>The food was dissapointing. Ordered food never arrived even asking for it on two occasions. <br/>Extra items were also added to the bill. Management seemed very blazé about the terrible service and the incorrect bill.<br/>Really one of the most dissapointing experiences yet.<br/>

however, it did not quite live up to the expectation. The place felt a bit neglected on the hygiene side and whilst the kids were playing in the sand the dug up cutlery and the like :-(<br/><br/>The food looked very nice with large portions being served, but sadly the calamari and even some of the potatoes were not cooked properly.

The most disgusting experience ever. Besides the unfriendly service the food was appalling. The salad I got with my Calamari looked and tasted like it was heated in the microwave and a few days old.   My Mom and Dad had hake and it was so over cooked and rock hard on the sides also looked like it was made in the morning and heated up a few times.  My partner had the most tasteless prawns.  I have been to this restaurant before and its never been this bad.  I will definitely not go there again, ever!!

Feet in the sand, drink in the hand. Their portions are huge and their prices are right. A lovely seafood restaurant with a very rustic setting. The seafood is great and the atmosphere is very inviting. A must try when in Jeffreys Bay.

Right on the beach, an unpretencious place to eat. Perfect for casual, informal dining. One sits on rustic wooden benches with your feet in the sand (not realy suited for the elderly, infirm and those with back problems). I had many satisfying meals there. The atmosphere in general is cheerful, merry and congenial. Friendly, relaxed but efficient service.<br/>Unfortunately my husband and daughter contracted food poisoning after eating prawns 7 January2014. Lucky for me I had a delicious trio of fish that day.<br/>In spite of this tragic event, I would still recommend this place.

I love tapas and its a regular on our agenda when this side of the world. Could be because I love taking my shoes off and playing with the beach sand while I wait for my food! The food (especially the seafood and chicken) is just delicious and I can give it no negative feedback. The reason for my low rating is that it gets very hot and could do with circulation. Staff are super friendly!!
