Review Thai Cafe - Hout Bay

Delicious Thai food! My favourite place to grab a quick bite. Unfortunately the price is now high and rather upsetting, especially as there is no discount for takeaway.

Blitsvinnig service and great food. Food is always ridiculously tasty, veg always al dente and never overcooked. Flavours are sublime. Only negative is the upholstered cushions can be quite manky. Need Scotch-guarding maybe. Not cool sitting on unknown stains!

A very authentic that food experience in these chain Thai cafes. Good food, well prepared with friendly staff. Highly recommended

The pad Thai was amazing, as usual. Staff were extremely friendly, although, very limited on warm beverages.

The food was very good, service was great and all Covid-19 precautions in place. A great spot for dinner!

Food and service is good. Better for take out than sit down. But all round good.

Since Thai Cafe first opened in Hout Bay a few years ago their Pad Thai has always been a favourite of mine! Extremely flavoursome and tasty! The Ba Me prik and Tom yum soup are also very good!

Used to be good, when it opened years ago. Now most of their stores don't even have Thai Chefs. Hygiene is poor, prices are high, no thanks.

Pretty decent as far as take-out type establishments go.<br/><br/>Would recommend ordering to take away NOT deliver.<br/><br/>To take away the food is prompt, tasty & politely served<br/>but the one time we did decide to order delivery it took 40 odd minutes & tasted like someone had forgot about it & reheated it (rubbery tofu, limp noodles etc.).<br/>If you want your Thai food delivered I'd recommend ordering from the Thai Cafe in Steenberg village as their delivery time is quite a bit faster even to Hout Bay (although oddly the Steenberg Thai Cafe seems to have the inverse problem, if you try to order at the establishment you end up waiting quite a long time as you see several delivery guys leave & come back again).<br/><br/>*I am a regular & do really like the tasty take out here!<br/>Would highly recommend the Pad Thai & the curries are really pretty decent.*<br/>Don't bother with the spring rolls though, they're a bit more bland and more expensive than at any of the other Asian establishments in the area (and are a bit more Chinese spring roll than Thai spring roll taste & filling wise, but that might just be me).<br/><br/>

Thai cafe has never let me down. It has good service and excellent quality food also the food is done with 10 -15 mins. Highly recommend it.

I have been going to this place for several months now and have never been disappointed. The Thom Ka Gai is really good and is usually a mark of a good Thai place by my opinion. Can't quite understand why the ratings are so low. Some of the outlets are not good, this one is great!

Last night was the last time I will ever eat food from Thai Cafe Hout Bay. Used to be my favorite! All I can say now is Yuck, FOO, gastly, terrible, Uhg!!!! :( Wife refused to eat her food (beef black bean), and after I tasted it, we agreed to chuck the brown mess in the bin! Even the flies evacuated. I got half way through mine (Ba Me Prik Prawn) because I was so hungry, then hurled the rest away. Felt sick all night. Hardy slept. <br/><br/>So sad to see such a lovely place decline into abysmal! <br/>To add insult to injury: They totally skimped on the beef and the prawn!!

My favorite takeaway spot in Hout Bay! They serve delicious, flavoursome food with friendly and speedy service. The green chicken curry is my absolute favorite dish - made perfect every time and always hits the spot!

Loved this place food was cooked by Thai chefs and was really fresh and delicious. Been all over the world and this plane ranks up there with best Thai I've had

Really enjoy thai Cafe. One of my favourite takeaway places but then again, I am addicted to thia food. Always find their food to be fresh and full of flavour. I usually go for the basil and cashew nut curry. We did wait for a rather long time the last time we visited this particular branch. They do seem to struggle when they're busy.

What's better than lying in bed on a Saturday night with a cup of tea & ordering your food for delivery !! Order was delivered within 20minutes and the Thai Green chicken Curry with Rice looked delicious. I don't often eat Thai food as I'm not a fan of hot food or curry per say but green curry is one of my go-to meals in winter. However, as I was dishing up, I noticed that my Thai green "Chicken" curry only had 3 small pieces of chicken, about 5 or 6 pieces of peppers and that was it ??? Otherwise just a watery substance that was very much tasteless. So much for my lovely dinner. What a let down, definitely won't be recommending them.
