Review La Popote Cafe - Hilton

We were there bright and early at 07:30am as we spent the weekend at the Knoll. Didn't feel very welcomed at first but they eventually warmed up to us. Intimate cafe, rustic surroundings with a small selection of locally manufactured toiletries and crafts on sale. Our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. Adequate portion sizes. We were very satisfied with our breakfast before a long trip back home. We were told that upon request, holidaymakers at The Knoll can have dinner prepared and delivered to their rooms.

Had a lovely lunch sitting outside in the shade of pin oak trees, listening to the birds and watching the chickens. Such a chilled vibe. Food was delicious. Service was good. Would definitely recommend having a lunch or breakfast here. Will be back.

Lovely outdoor venue, and a lovely fireplace on a cold day. Farm / outdoor atmosphere, the Rex burger and Butternut Soup was gr8. Kids played noughts and crosses and dominos.

Great little gem in the midlands. Andrew is a very talented chef and he has tailored his menu well. bold where it needs to be yet subtly special and stunning for old favourites. this is a great spot for outside dining with lovely views, but equally great for cold misty days next to a roaring fire.

One dines in an ancient barn, on a beautiful farm, with forever views over Hilton valley. Excellent attentive service and with sumptuous food to match the beautiful location. A small hiking trail for those who wish to walk off their ample meal. Definitely will be back again soon!

This is a worthwhile find. The interior is rustic but restful. The service and attention was great. The pavlova....... to die for. The carrot cake..... the best that I've had. I would recommend this anytime.

We love the new La Popote at The Knoll - it's just along the road from Sue Tarr's but it feels like an adventure down a dirt road to a beautifully rustic barn. While I was enjoying a perfect cappuccino, snuggled into the sofa reading my book, the horses came galloping through the garden - I heard them before I saw them. Magnificent. Lunch with my friends was heaven. I was starving so I tucked into little meatballs with freshly-made pasta in a tomato relish. (I polished off the entire generous bowl. It's winter. And I wasn't wasting a mouthful.) My friends chose Tuscan chicken and opted for milk tart Pavlovas for dessert. Lesley's food is made from locally sourced ingredients, it's slow-soul food and the flavors are always deliciously nuanced. Love La Popote ❤.

Service is excellent, the decor eclectic and the food is out of thus world, could not just have one thing. Landed up getting a variety and sharing... AWESOME.

Had the Babotie, really delicious, nice and savory flavoured, healthy portion. The burger was average, patty was little too fragrant. The smashed avo vegetable wrap was superb! Beautiful scenery relaxed atmosphere. Complimented with great service from Robyn, will definitely be back.

Country charm at its best. We had cake and drinks. La Popote made an effort to make milkshakes even though there was an unexpected power failure. This is what customer service should be.
