Review Bloomsberry Cafe - Hillcrest

Visited this place in 2018. I thought it a huge injustice, not to write a review, even though they are temporarily closed. This place is great, been there a few times. The meals were always good. It's a pity they had to close, as a result of Covid-19. The gardens are impeccable and they pathways are always in great condition. I really hope they'd resume business soon 🙏

It was the best and ONLY place in the Upper Highway where one could have a coffee or meal, surrounded by magnificent gardens. “Temporarily closed” since Covid. When we expect it to reopen, please? 🙏🏻

Beautiful experience, it was my aunt's birthday, so we had quite a large table. They managed us perfectly. I had a pizza which was great, and some white wine by the glass -I felt they could have filled the glass a bit more for the price. Walked around the gardens after lunch, they are so stunning. Overall I feel we all had a great time there.

What an incredible experience. The venue is an ABSOLUTE treasure to the province. The staff were friendly and polite. Had a great time! The food is delicious but I must be biased and say the scones are the best in have had. The art work and sculptures are incredible.

This place is surrounded with beautiful scenery. The big Japanese garden adds a huge touch to the overall feel of this place. The different paths cover enough distance to walk off all the tasty food that you just ate at the restaurant. Would definitely go there again. As a suggestion for the future, I recommend that the owner advertises a bit more. Before a friend told me of the place, I didn't know that it existed.

What a stunning, beautiful place. The staff could not be faulted and our lunch was excellent. Would love to experience a weekend there. Well done to all concerned. Our son who had come to visit from Australia for the first time in twenty years was speechless with admiration.

Such a great place for a meal and a walk around the gardens. Excellent coffee and desserts too. Try remember to book first as it very popular. Perfect for kids, facilities are good and mostly pram/wheelchair friendly. Polite and happy staff there too. Would highly recommend it if you need an outing.

Lovely place to visit and relax at especially when the weather is hot. The gardens are beautiful to walk around in - not necessary to wear hiking shoes but suggest anything comfortable to walk in. The food and service at the restaurant is great. I had the falafel balls which were delicious. The pizzas are also really good especially if you enjoy a thin crispy base. Definitely worth a visit with friends and family.

This place is really nice. Love the greenery and family feel. The catering was extensive with a professional team. It is a bit far from the city. I was there for some a training course and the venue was excellent. I feel getting a halal provider for special meals if not all would be great. The parking is sometimes tight. The place is quite large. Security is very good with a slightly complicated system.

I have eaten here twice before and would say that the food and service is fair. Not Amazing. Perfect venue and beautiful gardens but there is something that just misses the mark. Perhaps managers should be checking on guests periodically. On all three trips no manager ever approached. It's got amazing potential.

Beautiful beautiful spot. We stopped for breakfast and I was delighted the they had a vegan option on the menu and soy milk for me to enjoy a very well brewed cup of coffee. The food was truly delicious and could be appreciated with a stunning view of the emasculated gardens.

The setting is superb, the gardens are lovely with some beautiful and imaginative sculptures. The restaurant is well sited with a wide ranging menu. Food very good, with attentive service if rather slow between order and delivery.

Such a beautiful location. we had a conference here and stayed the night. Couldn’t fault anything. The lounge area of the bar was so relaxing and well presented and the food in the morning was also great. As far as the conference, the we staff were friendly and helpful and the team looked forwards to the food each day, huge spread of delicious food. Will be going back for a personal stay or another conference in the future.

Very nice scenic venue, very well manicured gardens. Great to walk about. Restaurant was nice too and food we quite tasty too. Quite busy but yet comfy vibe friendly and helpful wait staff who are always eager to help. Also has child minders and a small play area to keep the young ones busy.

The food here was delicious! This was my third visit to the restaurant and just like the previous trips, I really enjoyed my meal. We took my wheelchair bound gran for a walk around the unrivald garden. Generally everything is well maintained but I wish they'd spend some time in maintaining the pathways. In some sections the concrete has lifted or sunk making it quite difficult to maneuver with a wheelchair. This is really the only nitpick that I could do about the venue. Everything else was superb

Great place to have dinner with the family or a few business partners. Appart from the great view of the gardens, I had an overall great experience accompanied by the friendly staff members especially Jonathan who took us on a walk through the garden while teaching us about the different plants. Would recommend to anyone who wants to escape back to nature.

The gardens are so beautiful and expansive, which was so unexpected for the location of the lodge. All the plants have matured so well, and the atmosphere of the gardens are calm and peaceful. The tea time treats we had at the restaurant were lovely as well, and the staff friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back soon!

A great day out to explore some almost rainforest-like gardens. Small streams and Japanese gardens make it peaceful and relaxing. Plenty of wildlife to observe as well - birds are abundant. The restaurant is also worthwhile stopping in on as the food is great and the service is good. Be sure to take a camera to try and do the pictures justice!

Great place to spend the day at with a well kept park and restaurant. Prices at the restaurant are pricey and food is above average in terms of special ingredients and options available. Worth a visit if you in the area but a reservation is required as it does get a bit busy. Great views over the park with ample parking spots behind closed gates. Ordered a nonna chicken pizza and a vegetarian one as well. Their choc mint hot chocolate is great as well as their specialist milkshakes of which I had the coffee flavoured.
