Review Oscars Cafe - Hillcrest

Reeeeaaalllyy loved the food here! I had theee most delicious oxtail!!🤤😋 Compliments to the chef!👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳🙏🏽 Our waitress was also very sweet and kept checking if we're still good and assuring us the food would be available in no time as it was a busy day and we were there with kids. The place is also well located, with great parking spaces, and also looks great!👌🏾 The one thing that put a damper when I got home was to realize that they didn't pack my leftover oxtail (which was a lot as I had had a starter), and they only packed the mash and the rest of the leftovers from the family 😔 I hope this was just an error because I was looking forwards to finishing my scrumptious meal when I had appetite😕

Very pleased with the quality of food and service from staff. We were welcomed to a warm setting with heaters on, this cold winters day. Will definitely be back , value for money too!!! Well done Oscar's Cafe. The spiced chai latte was amazing !

Absolutely enjoyed my meals. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Quick service. Great for all sorts of occasions, from dining for 2, to big family and friends occasions. Can't wait to come back. ❣️

A perfect Friday evening with a lovely table on the veranda at Oscars. A cool breeze was filtering through the open glass windows and the soft lights added a lovely ambiance. Staff were attentive and efficient. We enjoyed the pork belly special which was delicious and my favourite, the Irish style oxtail with meat falling off the bone. A special mention of our waitress Sne who was an absolute delight. The restaurant was packed and the dinner vibe buzzing with enjoyment. Oscars is a great night out and a way to dine with a vibrant crowd of Durbanites.

Oscars delighted us so much at lunch that we returned the next day for dinner. Couldn't be happier with thr quality of the meals and attentive nature of the staff. Felt well looked after and valued as a guest.

Had a lovely lunch on Mother's Day. Prices are reasonable and the food was great. I had lamb curry with rice. The service was amazing as well👏

I popped in to Oscars for a quick bite recently. They are always busy & and have been around for ages, so they must be doing something right! I was served by the very pleasant & efficient Ray who helped with a recommendation. I opted for the calamari salad, which was deliciously different. The menu is varied & extendive and they do good coffee too.

This is by far our restaurant of choice. The food, service and atmosphere are top notch. Great value for money as well. We seriously never had a bad experience in all the years we've been dining there. Well done management and staff of Oscars Cafe.

Amazing place that offers affordable and high quality food. Their everyday specials are exceptional, great value for money (2x big gourmet burgers, 2x chips, 2x cocktail/mocktail or beer for only R200 on Tuesdays). The atmosphere is also very pleasant, with TV and soft music. The restaurant also has an outside area with heaters in winter. Staff is very friendly and service is quick. Would definitely recommend!

Ohhh what an amazing spot to go to, went there for brunch and it was packed but the service was excellent. Our food and drinks were out in no time, and ohhh my it was nothing short of amazing especially their curry. Definitely going back when I'm in Durban.

Enjoy your meal in a tranquil setting and just chill out.The menu is extensive and each dish sounds yummy.The menu caters for everybody and is very reasonably priced which makes your dining experience enjoyable.The decor is very modern and the service is outstanding.When you visit Hillcrest stop off there and spoil yourself.

Value for money, ordered a simple standard breakfast and to my surprise it was almost like eating for two. Really good food, taste amazing, hot coffee, delicious coffee, service excellent and always checking in if all is in order, definitely coming back for more

A visit to Oscar's was recommended by a colleague who said it was an inexpensive and relaxed venue for a light meal and good coffee. Based on the description I was given, I expected something almost quaint but was surprised to find it a vibrant, modern, tastefully furnished establishment that is an absolute delight. Friendliness and welcoming smiles greeted us at the door where we were offered a table for two, either outside, on the wide veranda adjacent to the parking area, or inside. As the weather was abnormally cool for February, we opted for an inside table away from any cold draughts. We enjoyed a cappuccino and latte respectively, and my wife chose a toasted prawn/mayo sandwich. Our waitress, Snethemba (isiZulu for "Hope") took pity on the fat man practising intermittent fasting and duly presented me with 2 additional biscotti to eat while my lady enjoyed her toasted sandwich!! While waiting for our coffee, I saw a young busboy carrying a glass of water and immediately knew I needed to order 1. Partly in jest, I asked him whether it was 'my' water he was bring and he simply rose to the occasion, said "Yes, of course!", placed it in front of me and secured a replacement glass of water for the customer for whom it had originally been intended. 😃👏👏👏 Well done, Reece!! Then the toasted sandwich arrived and was pronounced "So nice!". Another young waitress, Zama, then spent 10-15 minutes chatting to us about International affairs, rounding off a most enjoyable first visit to Oscar's!! Highly recommended!! 😊😊

We all ate different food and it was all amazing. Totally lip smacking and delicious. Reasonable prices and totally amazing service on a very busy Saturday. Most enjoyable experience. 👍🏻

Absolutely amazing food and service from Oscars, though it was my first time visiting the restaurant, I have to admit, everything was superb and beyond including the atmosphere.I hope they remain excellent for many years to come,because I have just made it my new favourite place. Looking forward to my next visit.

Sunday drive led us to Hillcrest and then debating where to have lunch, agreed on Oscars. Warm welcome received and seated very quickly. Dillon our waiter was friendly and attentive. His advice on the t- bone was spot on and served as requested. My open sandwich of avocado, cream cheese and spring onion on home made bread was delicious. I asked for bacon to be added to my sandwich - no issues. Our meals with drinks was reasonably priced. Relaxed atmosphere.

Was my first time visit, and I enjoyed my stay with my friends in this restaurant. The portion of food is more than enough. The staff is so welcoming and thanks so much to Jason for his great service to us. He kept my baby busy and happy while I was busy having a good time with my long lost ��� My baby was never bored, and the food was amazing. Will visit soon with my family. I really enjoyed your food and service. Big ups ���������

This has become our go to place. Been for brekkie, lunch and supper and every time it's on point � can not fault the food or service. Wide variety to choose from at reasonable prices. Definitely a gem up the hill.

Consistent and tasty food as always. Cannot go wrong with portion size and value for money. Grab a spot on the outside couches for a comfortable vibey atmosphere. Wine selection is also satisfactory. Flexible kitchen allows conversion of wraps to salad.

Looking for breakfast, saw Oscars and decided to try the place. Had not been here before, (visiting family in Hillcrest), place was busy which usually means it's good. Wife & I sat down and ordered, food was delivered in good time, presentation was good, and best of all everything tasted good. Prices too, were reasonable, all in all a pleasant experience. Would definitely go again.

The best managed kitchen in KZN - presentation, portion size, plating, timing and taste , gets 10 out of 10 from us. Service is always good too �

My son and I had such a stunning lunch at Oscar's yesterday. Food was fresh and well prepared, it was like eating at a 5 star Hotel, well done Oscar's we will most certainly be back for more, and the house wine was of the best quality as well, not cheap plonk. xxxxx

Food is inconsistent and service is terrible especially if you aren't 4+ people. You might get a table but then you are ignored. One particular Sunday I remember being turned away, but there were some tables open. While I waited for my friend, a waiter sauntered over and said well I could sit at that 2 seater table tucked around the corner. Wow thank you for offering me that open table! And it was only because I kept staring at it that it was offered to me. We went to Lupa.

Definitely one of my favourite places to stop when down in Durban. Fantastic staff and incredible food. Also very vegetarian friendly which is a bonus...
