Lovely celebration of an 80th birthday! My food was good but some of the steak and pork belly others had was okay. Smallish portion sizes. Delicious deserts!

Great little gem hidden in Hemel and Aarde mountains. Food was excellent. Environment was pleasant and service was really nice. Really pleasant experience and we look forward to returning.

Some of the best food we had all holiday. The pot stickers and lamb shank were particularly great. Staff were super friendly, really well priced and wine was exceptional.

What an amazing little gem, ambient, and peaceful! The food was incredibly good and the kind of place that slows down time.. We'll be back!

I am so excited to do this review... My goodness! Absolutely the very best meal I have had in the Western Cape in 20 years. The service is excellent and an all round 100% and 5* experience. Wish my photos could do justice.

Superb surroundings, friendly atmosphere and really good food. Perfect for children with plenty space to run outdoors, play gym and activities. Food fresh and scrumptious, ingredients straight from the Cook’s Garden. Lovely big fireplace inside to keep everyone cosy. Highly recommend!

Excellent home / farm style food. The menu offers a limited variety although they cater for a range of food preferences. Great local wine options. Attentive and friendly staff! I had lunch from their specials menu as well as a dessert and enjoyed every bite! The lamb and barley soup was especially delicious! A very cosy spot in winter with the lovely fireplace. A nice place to enjoy lunch with children as there is an outdoor play area jungle gym and open lawn area. This place has been on my list of restaurants to try for years and had almost always been booked - so we recommend phoning ahead and making a booking beforehand especially on popular weekends in the whale season or in summer.

Delicious lunch! We stopped in between a couple of stops on the wine route. Unfortunately there was a power outage so a few dishes were off the menu but they still managed to create some amazing dishes. We had the fish cakes and chicken ballantine, both lovely. The service was warm and the view beautiful. Prices are reasonable. The wine on offer is local.

Absolute gem of a restaurant in the Hemel en Aarde valley outside Hermanus. One only has to look at the photos to appreciate the gorgeous setting. To me dining at Moggs feels like going out to your Aunt's house in the countryside of a Sunday afternoon....and boy can she cook! Delicious starters, mains, desserts to be washed down with the finest wines the region produces. Friendly and efficient service from the staff plus a lovely atmosphere beside fellow diners who appreciate excellent food.

I must admit I was a bit disappointed. Given its setting in the beautiful Hemel and Aarde valley I was expecting somewhere with a gorgeous view. Instead it is a rather tired-looking house with indoor seating. That said the food was good home cooking and our waitress was delightful. Good local selection of wines at reasonable prices.

Food is excellent, staff friendly helpful and they know and can suggest items but best of all the owners are always on hand

What a beautiful lunch with great service and fantastic wine! The asparagus and artichoke risotto balls were rather heroic!

We have visited Hermanus tri-annually for the past 30 years and only now discovered Mogg's. A hidden gem which we will certainly visit again.

We just visited your restaurant and it was the most UNWELCOME staff I have ever come across. No-one asking me if I would like to sit (I know it only opens at 12), try to be friendly and not ignore customers. You lost our business and the word of mouth from our side.

Warm farmhouse feel with country style cooking. When close to Hermanus then you have to do lunch at Moggs. Hearty meals cooked with love. Lots of flavors and always something interesting and fresh on the menu. This time I tried the Sunday lunch lamb shank. Tender falling off the bone with a sauce you wish wont end. 3 rd visit June2018 just getting better. This time I had the pork belly. This was the best one I tasted to date. Not fatty beautifully prepared tender with a waterblommetjie mash , with a sweet puree, outstanding. One of our guest had the prawn and chicken curry what a winner. Loved the depth of flavors and hint if coconut. We will surely return for many more.

Food heaven!!! Flavours. Textures. Every bite was perfection. Would highly recommend the lamb shank. Best shank I have ever tasted! Service: very good. Ambiance: cosy (fire place was roaring). Can't wait to come back to Moggs!

Moggs have been serving amazing meals for more than 20 years yet this is the first time we have been able to get a booking for lunch on a Saturday. We were delighted to be welcomed in this fascinating country venue with pine cones and egg boxes for ceilings! The starters included Carrot and cardomum soup, beetroot fritter stack and mixed seafood pancake. These starters were all delicious and tasty. We had lamb shanks, duck pie and pork belly for mains all of which were exceptional. The lamb was rich and tasty with a dark brown gravy served on a tasty mash potato base. We only had one dessert between 4 of us, the dark chocolate tart which we shared. Overall a great marlin a great venue.

Real, satisfying food with layers of flavour served in an easy-going, unpretentious setting. I had the greenpea soup which was creamy and delicious. Followed by a rich, comforting short rib on mash.
The service is warm and attentive without being intrusive.
I am already looking forward to our return visit.

A cosy and quaint little restaurant. They are generally always fully booked well in advance, but we were lucky enough to to get a call back that there had been a cancellation. The food is just amazing, and the service was great. Only complaint I would have, is that the wine by the glass is very expensive. Other than that, I would return in a heartbeat.
