Review Pear Tree - Hermanus

The Pear Tree Bistro was our favourite dining spot while we were in Hermanus. The food was excellent and so beautifully presented. I had hake tacos which were delicious and then a poké bowl - my favourite. My mother had sweet potato fries which she described as excellent and pork ribs. The portions were generous for us and we struggled to finish. We had plans for the fabulous looking pear dessert but couldn’t manage it. The staff were all wonderful too. Our server was bright, cheery and fun. It’s a breath of fresh air coming to such a vibrant restaurant. Shame we had to leave the next morning otherwise I would have been back for breakfast.

You can't beat this location on a summer's day! The cherry on top is the excellent food and great drinks selection. Fantasties service to boot. Highly recommended for a tasty bite to eat. The fish tacos might be small but they're mighty delicious! The chicken burger was scrumptious too.

Sitting close to the ocean, sipping something cool, eating a delicious meal served by a friendly lady - how can I not be happy! The sesame chicken strips and aiolo sauce was great! And sweet potato fries served in a small flower pot - rather cute.

We recently had the pleasure of eating at Pear Tree, and we were thoroughly impressed! The menu provides a wide variety of options, and both my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the diverse offerings. What truly stood out to us was the warm and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant, which was particularly delightful during this chilly weather. An added bonus was their food and wine pairing for R150pp, which proved to be an awesome experience.👌 We highly recommend trying their poke bowls, especially the Teriyaki Chicken bowl, as it was a definite winner. The service was excellent, and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Pear Tree has undoubtedly become one of our favorite restaurants in the beautiful town of Hermanus. We can't wait to visit again!"

Looking for something different for breakfast, this is the spot to be. Although the usual breakfast are delicious and I. The menu (eggs Benedict, etc) there are some innovative and delicious options. We opted for the breakfast Tacos (9/10) and Fried breakfast rice (solid 10/10) Breakfast tacos could have been slightly bigger portion, but at the price it's more than fair. The flavout makes up for the smaller portion. Some of the best scrambled eggs on the Taco I ever had. The breakfast fried rice, however, was the highlight of the day. Creamy fried rice topped with pulled brisket amd served with crunchy fresh greens and a delicious aioli. Really one of the best dished I had in a long time PS. Food was good. Interesting choices on the menu. We chose a light Lunch. Service was friendly but we had 3 different waiters and it took like 20 min to receive our still water. While we received our kombucha earlier...

My hubby & I popped in for breakfast and tried the fried breakfast rice. We both agreed that was the nicest bowl of savoury rice we have ever eaten and at the recommendation of our amazing waitress to try it with scrambled egg- (Gail Lynn I think her name was)....we added the chipotle chicken. WOW. Well done on delish... We live in PE but will ALWAYS return there for a great meal.

Wow, what an incredible experience. We were 7 ladies with differet tastes. We all ordered the maple bacon burger... we are all OBSESSED!! We all agreed it was the best burger we have ever had. This small hidden away place, is the diamond in the rough place... excellent service and loved the ambiance. I will be driving out there just to share the best burger with my husband once he is home !

Had a really good lunch here. The service was very quick and the waiters were very friendly. My girlfriend had the nachos burger and substituted the chips for a salad, both of which were really amazing. I had the fried hake and chips. The chips were top notch but the hake was very oily and lacked flavour. The gin cocktail was also really good.

We found this place by chance after arriving late in town for a weekend away. We felt a little rushed to finish our supper, however, this may be as a result of only arriving around 8pm. The menu was very simple but delicious, with some very unique items to choose from, especially the dessert! Very cozy setting with some good ambiance. Waiters and staff were all very welcoming and efficient. Definitely recommendable.

Food was good, climate and stuff as well but not exceptional.

I was super impressed with the Vegan linguini just enough to be enough, I could have licked the bowl, my Mom taught me otherwise, my word it was super tasty. Also my furry children were there...stunning evening...

This restaurant feels like such a hidden gem once you've enjoyed a meal here. We enjoyed a Sunday lunch and once again the food was spectacularly flavourful and up to very high standards, yet the place itself looks quite ordinary. As such the prices might look a bit high at face value, but don't be fooled - you pay for exquisitely designed meals here.

I was walking on the Street samthing bring me to this restaurant l had chicken curry With prawns was so good l order piece off bread the waiter bring to me a piece of tost bread after 7 minute, add to account 8 rend on the bill for piece off bread, but atmosphere was really good the waiter were fantastic l recomend higly

I had the Lemon Chicken something something and it was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors and even though the portions were questionable, I did leave the table full and very satisfied. <br/><br/>I'd recommend the spot for their variety in dishes and they cater for vegan and the likes. You can definitely find something healthier on the menu that isn't just a Greek salad.

This cute little cafe style restaurant is well situated near the old harbor and features mostly outside seating. It can get a bit breezy, but they do have blankets to help keep warm. The outside seating is at bench type tables whereas the inside is more traditional restaurant seating.<br/><br/>The first thing that struck me was how polite, friendly and well spoken the staff were which is always appreciated. <br/><br/>Not only was the service appreciated, but the food arrived in good time and the well thought out dishes were well presented and enjoyable.<br/>

Great location for a restuarant. With an amazing view and in a little busy square that is great for people watching. The food though just doesn't work for me. The combinations are odd, the Nacho burger ai had was way to sweet, and my other halfs steak sandwich had hidden ani seed on it, which makes a big diffrence. The chips are bice and the drinks well priced. Service was meh. Did see whales... which we loved.

Fresh Wholesome tasty food from Pear tree, great vibe with friendly staff. Great menu variety, hard to decide what to eat here. A must when traveling to Hermanus.

We are regulars at Pear Tree and have NEVER had a bad meal! You can't go wrong by closing your eyes and pointing somewhere on the menu... tonight was calamari steak! Perfectly cooked and paired with butternut puree, rocket, coriander and just the right amount of chili! Their portion sizes are perfect and service unparalleled!

Amazing place! Pulled lamb tagliatelle highly recommended, fresh pasta and was cooked perfectly. Can't fault them at all I will definitely be back again and again!

Pear Tree is a gorgeous little restaurant along the main strip of Hermanus. Both the indoor and outdoor seating are cosy and initiate.<br/>I was spoilt for choice on the menu and opted for the prawn risotto which was absolutely divine and I would have it again in a heart beat.

The beer battered fish is absolutely incredible. Best value for money & best taste. It's a big portion so I shared it with my partner and added calamari. 🍃 amazing

What a great place to enjoy graft beer and there special milkshake. I had the coffee and peanut butter milkshake it looked awesome and the taste was insane

A small restaurant set on the promenade with great sea views if you are lucky enough to get the right table.<br/><br/>I had the calamari and salad and my partner the chicken curry. We shared a lime cheesecake.<br/><br/>Both the mains and dessert were excellent and I recommend you visit and try for yourself. The waiter attending attending to us was both knowledgeable and friendly without being intrusive.<br/><br/>This restaurant is definitely on our list for a follow visit when we are next in Hermanus.

It was a really cold and user able winter's evening when we decided to go for dinner and the venue and the wine turned out to be spectacular. <br/><br/>It is a relatively small but very boat restaurant and the archive is very personal with knowledgeable waiters.<br/><br/>We had the pulled lamb pasta with truffle oil, totally to die for. This was truly a master piece. We also had the Pear Tree bartered hake and chips, also very good, the Salad of beetroot, pear and goats cheese, also truly devine and then the Fried calamari strips. The good was so good, I am truly impressed.

This is a hidden gem!  The atmosphere is great, the staff well trained and the food to die for.  A lot of effort is put into the preparation and presentation. Every meal we have had there has been a treat and looks like it has been prepared by a master chef.

What an amazing dinner experience! Phenomenal service and food, we were well looked after by our waiter Sean, started with the seared tuna special, melt in the mouth and very fresh, hake and chips and the bacon, pork belly and blue cheese burger for mains, brilliant flavours and delectable, shared the cinnamon and rooibos creme brulee for desert, wonderful flavour combination. We have already booked for the very next night!

This place is wonderful! The vibe is cosy and warm, the service is great and the food is devine! I had chicken breasts stuffed with chorizo and Klein Rivier smoked cheese served with sweet potato mash. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the flavours went together beautifully. My father had the pork belly with vegetables which was also delicious (I stole a bite) and my mother had the trio of burgers which looked delicious. For dessert we had the Belgium Chocolate Pave with vanilla ice cream and it was AMAZING! One of the best desserts I have ever had.

Lovely place. Beautiful beetroot salad and the calamari was cooked to perfection. We even spotted some whales from our table. Our waiter Innocence kept our glasses filled and was an absolute gentleman.

Food was amazing. No wonder this place was full to the brim. Innocent, our waiter was exceptional!<br/>Highly recommended after a few previous mediocre dinner experiences in Hermanus. Great, comfy, intimate dining with a warm friendly atmosphere.
