Review Heksies Hideaway - Hekpoort

The place was amazing. The hostess who doubles up as the chef was too warm and welcoming. The animals around the area were an interesting find for my infant daughter. The food was too good although a tad pricey. The chicken curry was interesting and so was the dessert. All in all a lovely Sunday lunch with the family.

What a great and unique experience! Owner managed Colonial offered generous portions of freshly prepared, lovely food. Our hostesses were charming and made us welcome at their place. We will definitely visit it again during the day time to be able to experience the mountain view.

I had friends and family meet us at the Colonial Restaurant in Magaliesburg for my daughters second birthday. The owner Katy welcomed us as if we were royalty, the staff were excellent. Situated in the amazing backdrop of mountains and fresh air, we were escorted to our tables - setup with the most amazing flowers and decor. The food was of the best quality, the best ingredients, everyone raved :) The shelves were full of Chillies and Jams for sale, when we left the shelves were on the empty side. I would recommend everyone to go there, they are simply amazing!

What a nice experience. No set menu, but a nice chili tasting as a starter. Beautiful view from the veranda. There was just one lady working on the day. Place was not busy so she coped, Helen was fantastic.

We did a hike at Sable Ranch up the road from Heksie's. Great place to chill and have a ice cold beer after the hike. Katy, the manager doubled up as an awesome waitress. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Good choice of interesting food. Try the home made chillie marmalade. Highly recommended!

Wow! Visited this restaurant twice on our recent visit to South Africa. We tasted the amazing chilli product which are produced and sold on site which I purchased to bring home to the Uk. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection. The setting is beautiful and Iā€™d highly recommend a visit if you are visiting the area

After a disastrous stay at the lodge across the road we stopped at Heksie's for breakfast on the way home. What a delightful and scenic spot. Food was wonderful and affordable, with super friendly staff. The manager gave us her number and offered to help us find better accomodation the next time we wanted to stay in the area. What a great end to a potentially disastrous trip!

Getting a massage while you wait for your food!!!! That is amazing! The prawn curry was special, I loved it! I would highly recommend that everyone looking for a relaxed vibe, with some spanish/mexican music in the background should try this place.

Thank you so much Katy for inviting me into your kitchen while you cooked up batches of your wonderful chilly sauces! We enjoyed our visit and the kids enjoyed the freedom om the farm. What an awesome Saturday!!

A warm welcome at a great venue. If you're looking to get out of the city for the day, definitely make a breakfast or lunchtime stop here. We had the Super Breakfast and it was just what we needed. Two eggs, bacon, sausage, small portion of chips and toast on the side all served with an array of their very own jams and delectable chillies and pickles to choose from. They also sell the jams, chillies and pickles along with a fine, flavourful honey all produced on the farm for your enjoyment. They make an effort to keep everything as eco-conscious as they can and all products are sold in glass. They even make use of fire-bowls instead of spraying chemicals to keep flies and other insects at bay. There will soon be a specifically dedicated area for vegetarian food-lovers to enjoy a meal and the tranquil surroundings. A must visit!

The biggest, value-for-money portion of pork chops I've ever scene and the owner came to us with DIVINE vegetarian options! What a stunning little gem...feels like rural France with Edith Piaf serenading us in the background.... Bliss!
