Review Die Opstal Eethuys - Hartbeespoort

A relaxing atmosphere at this restaurant, with great views from the deck. Local and homemade dishes available with vegetarian options. Coffee, Cuppachino and Milkshakes are great. It is just above the bookshop with an awesome selection of books, DVD s, CD s and other stationary. The restaurant is about a 30 min drive from Pretoria and suitable for the whole family. The fresh produce to buy at the local shop is well priced and a great variety of goods are available!

Relative privacy compared with the windmill. Great place to meet up with friends, prices are upmarket but not expensive.

Wow nice baguettes!! We had a biltong and Feta, then a parmaham and feta. Damm it was nice! Nice view as well. Defintely a MUST visit 2nd visit, few years later in April 2023. Portions are HUGE! Wraps are incredible. We also had millshakes and beers. I would like more food options on the menu. In general, still a stunning place.

Nice place to order good coffee and something to eat, the menu is not that long but what matters is what you are about to receive, good friendly service, delicious food and a view from the top with the magnificent panorama of the Magalies mountain range. The restaurant is not that busy as the lower down Wafel House and people in wheelchairs will have a most difficult time getting up the stairs.

A pleasant experience with a deliciously warm baguette with plenty of meat, cheese and salad. A really enjoyable experience.

Fantastic place to grab a bite to eat. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Lovely Condensmilk coffee and rusk. Passionately run and friendly service

Had the chicken, feta and avo hot sub which was great. Quite stingy with the feta and the avo, only got three small cubes (don't let the picture fool you), milo milkshake was superb. My wife had the pumpkin wrap rocket, parmaham, avo and feta which was even better. Well priced.

Nice place to have a quick bit and a beverage. Bit on the pricey side, would suggest price drop about 15%. Own unique feel to the place. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Great view of the green Garden. Service is good, food and beverages taste good.

Very nice resturant, friendly staff. Good place at the windmill to stock up on fruit and vegetables. Nice garden to walk around in

I have no complaints. The sub and coffee came quickly. The sub was tasty. The coffee with condensemik and rusk were delicious.

I haven't had food and drinks this good in one place in so long, if ever! Their menu isn't very big but who cares when the food is that good!

Consistently great coffee and basic tasty meals. Plenty of gluten free options and vegan friendly. I’ve always had great service too. Beautiful view.

"Die Opstal Eethuys" (Homestead Restaurant) is one of the eating venues at the popular Hartebeestport local produce market, Jasmyn.

It offers a simple but tasty menu selection ( Hot Subs, Baguettes, Milkshakes) which is plated in a unique farm rustic style. Staff were friendly and efficient.

The upper deck seating, overlooking the scenic gardens, is a recommended experience.
Bang on the button breakfast baguettes. Friendly service and good recommendations from our waitress. Good view of the Hartebeespoort hills as backdrop when dining on the deck.

Save yourself the time and trouble. The welcome was lukewarm to mildly irritated. A simple order of sparkling water with lemon, no ice became sparkling water with no lemon, no ice. An order of two biltong salads became one salad. And absolutely nothing on the menu can be changed. The bottles with vinegar and oil aren’t made for runny liquids and makes a massive mess. The salad was mediocre to meh. The manager is probably a highly stressed person who gives orders like a sergeant-major. Service is poor (except Shane), food is poor. The view is nice.

Feel quite ripped off, and left still hungry. Waiting in the queue for half an hour, food took 40 mins after ordering everything on arrival. The menu is extremely simple, limited even. Juice is not juice, hot subs have minimal fill, pita was dried out with a quarter slice of ham and 1 cube of avo?? Service was confusing, and the staff didn't seem to get along in the bustle. At least the view was nice, and the market had more food...

Sadly I only managed to get one photo from this place due to lack of battery!! However I must say this place is great. The service is not the best I have ever had however we went, we ate, we enjoyed!! Its got a lovely view as well and the entire atmosphere of this place is just great!!

Perfect atmosphere. Wonderful service and the best baguettes I have ever had. I can highly recommend it to anyone.

The restaurant can get a bit busy and once you dig into your food you will understand exactly why!
Candice Gerber
Rustic friendly atmosphere. Really down to earth. Don't expect a huge menu but what is offered was really good. Simple meals prepared well. Waitress was good to fault. Felt I was being watched the whole time but she tried her best to impress and make sure we had everything we needed.

Die Opstal Eethuys in the Windmill centre was packed the day that I walked in with some friends for lunch and I can now see why. The reason that it has taken me a bit of time to write this review was because I was waiting for it to be listed on Zomato, but I was there two weeks ago now and will definitely return!

What an unlikely gem! Die Opstal Eethuys is all about the food! Huge portions of fresh food at low prices and people stood waiting for their chance to be seated. I can only describe the food as being traditional Boerekos with a healthy slant.

I will let my pictures speak for themselves but both the Biltong, Feta & Avo broodtjie and the parma ham & rocket baguettes were delicious!

*Recommendation: A great (and proudly South African) spot to stop in for a hearty, delicious broodtjie and BE SURE TO REQUEST THE EXTRA BASIL PESTO on your roll.
