Had such a nice lazy Saturday lunch here. Eisbein was tops and Washington just made our day with his smile and excellent service. Thank you also to the management team as I can see you know what you are doing.

Beautiful rustic eatery and bar. Atmosphere is wonderful and the staff are great. Definitely a place to visit when in the area.

The atmosphere is great and lively, live artists singing on weekends, place for kids to play , secure parking and the food is incredible!!!!

Really great pub, music and party venue on a Sunday if you want an out-of-town trip to Harties. Thoroughly recommend their Eisbein

A great place to always visit. Very popular over weekends and has an awesome atmosphere on a Sunday. Great music, and awesome crowds of people. Service was perfect and the food is just delicious.

We haven't visited Upperdeck in years, but my Dad always said that they had the best eisbein. So we had to pay them another visit so see if it was still the same as he remembered. We were a table of 6 people and 5 of us had the eisbein. Nobody was disappointed!! It was massive and super crispy! Served with some tasty chips too! We went on a public holiday, there was a good vibe with live music and many other diners. Despite them being really busy, we didn't have to wait long for our food at all. Our server was extremely friendly and even made a few jokes. I would definitely go back! Maybe on a Friday night since that's when the Eisbein is on special 😁

We ended off our Harties day at Upperdeck Restaurant. They had a Barcardi cocktail special, for R25 per cocktail - oh and I had a field day! We had lamb curry with poppadum and sambals for eats. Wow! The best lamb curry I’ve ever had; it was so good, we even forgot to photograph the meal🥲.

Outing to Harties for the day and decided to have a bite to eat at Upperdeck. Although it was very busy our waiter was very friendly and quick to take our orders. From the start he apologized for some of the items not available due to the deep fryer being broken so we all opted for burgers and steak burgers. Even though we waited a while the food was worth the wait. Those burgers were juicy and well cooked, the best I've had in a very long time, they were perfect.

The service from our waiter Dolly went out of her way to make sure everything at our table went smoothly. The restaurant was very busy but we did not wait long for the food. The eisbein was done to perfection, the mutton curry was tasty and the vegetarian bake delicious. We will definitely come more to this restaurant.

Popped in to the Upper Deck restaurant on our way back from a holiday resort.Decided to have breakfast.We both ordered the Bikers breakfast,@R80 was good value for the money.Breakfast was good.Service was a bit slow.The place was reasonably empty For a Friday morning, maybe we were a bit early.There are over a hundred tables ,so I can imagine that the place pumps when busy,There are a couple of bars there as well..Also there is the Upper deck bus which you can book for between R350 - Approximately R450.For a tour around the area.Which includes four drinks.The toilets are clean. There are also a few stalls that you can browse around in.Disappointment was the condition of Hartebeespoort dam. Full of Hyacinthas.

We had already tucked in when we decided to take photos of our meal. The Upperdeck Restaurant is abuzz...good food, good service and fantastic live music will have us returning time and again. We weren't too hungry so we ordered burgers that were made in good time and was quite delicious, including the side of chips. Milkshakes were okaaay. The music was great. They have a varied menu and judging from the plates leaving the kitchen, the crispy eisbein was a popular choice. The music was amazing. Great crowd, including a groom asking for shots because he was tying the knot, awesome vibe and the music was fantastic...did I mention that?! An adjoining flea market, the many arts, craft and fruit stalls that pepper the street, makes for interesting browsing while you walk off your meal. Have a few hours to spare? While them away at the Upperdeck.

Loadshedding menu was a bit bland and not what their food is normally. The atmosphere is great as always and if you go there. Do try their ribs and steak. Yum!!! First to actually get the meat to a perfect medium.

Great vibe and entertainment (suggestion the music (local band) doesn’t need to be thundering loud to be enjoyed would be great if you could have a conversation in between as well all part of going to places similar to this), fairly priced, food very nice (except their desert called ‘taste of Africa’ tasteless, dry nothing like what it should taste like. Need to refine this one...or take it of the menu. Service good (considering the amount of tables and people to be serviced especially when packed you tend to search for your waiter). Overall great experience and value for money for a day’s outing.

Used to be the better place for a breakfast run, i do not recommend the breakfast or cold coffee �

Great ride today and stopped for quick breakfast and waiter suggested ‘Lion beer’ as it’s in special. “R10 cheaper than other beers” he says ..... “how much is it then?” - R15 he says � for a dumpie! Wow - how’s that on special?!? So beer arrived and what a surprise! The label says *R5 recommended retail* WTF ! I ask for the Manager who simply says “sorry but we have to make money. That R5 price is for shebeens” � wow. Funny that she’d mention “shebeen” especially considering I’m Coloured �

My eisbein was raw and mix veggies tasted of sand. Music way too load. You cant chat to your people on table but scream. I took my food home to eat. Way too loud.

Food is awsome. You are going to search far to get better food. Service! What service? There is none. Lots of waiters walking to the entrance and back. Up and down but dont ask them to serve you. They look to the back and turn around and walk away. If the service was better the place will be full all the time

Prices, food and service all only just mediocre. Definitely not a place I would insist on going back to.

Love the food. Was disappointed in the service though. Waitress (Blessing) told us OBS Shots were R8 each, when we received our bill it was R12 each. She also double charged us for Milo which was cold, we had 6 and she charged us for 12. She deducted the extra 6 but left the OBS shots at R12ea. When we complained about the cold Milo she informed us that the machine was f $#ked....she was rude and delivers poor service

Ordered Eisbein - lovely cooked. Service was very slow. Excellent live entertainment added to the atmosphere.

The food was aweful.Even the basic item like Chicken Schnitzel was undercooked. Cannot imagine someone not getting Onion rings, mashed potatoes,right. The Lamb was flovourless . We literally had to go to another place to fill our stomach. The live music was too loud.

The food was amazing. One had chicken schnitzel, another had a chicken burger and I had an eisbein.<br/><br/>If they were really busy I could understand the average level of service received. Although it wasn't terrible, it could have been better insofar as seeing the waiter more often. We probably would have ordered more If he had been around. The whole area is a hive of activity on a Sunday but particularly this rustic eatery, it was packed to wall to wall. Expect a variety of bikers and families (including pooches) a live band on the go with tunes like Billy Idol and AC/DC if your thing. A well run establishment with lots of name tagged staff to deal with the weekend rush. When seated the waitron name is in the table so no confusion. Drinks took a little time but food was out quickly. Eisbein seems to be hugely popular, along with their giant Mojo Jam Jar. Burgers, Bunny Chows and Jaffels are other offerings. Motorbikes galore parked outside.

Food was good. Service was good. Nothing too special. Just nice casual place for a drink and eat. Eisbein is good value for money. Recommend

This place is nice if you want to watch sport and drink beer. (Just be careful, there's always police close by so don't drive if you've been drinking). The service is good. The music is a plus. It's just an average place to hang out and it's great that they have a kids play area. The food however I found to be well below average. I had fish and chips. The fish batter is horrible and soaks in a lot of oil so it's not crispy. The fish is bland. The chips are also bad (unless you like oily slap chips). I would go there again because if you're in the area there aren't many other options.

Service is good, but food not great. Chips were stale and food is bland. You can’t get nachos too wrong, but they did. We had chili cheese fries and nachos. Lots of seating and space.

The Upper Deck is perfect to watch a rugby game and drink a few springbokkies with friends. The atmosphere is fantastic, you immediately feel like you can relax and just enjoy the evening. The food is normal pub type food and does the trick for what you want out of the evening. I would say that service is friendly, but overall very slow.

The HartBeesPoort-Brits area is home to two particular extremes: Churches and Bars. Lots of each. People are either addicted to Religion or to Booze. Few level-headed and sober folk remain unaffected by the two dominant addictions - seedy vroegvrek food & vinnigvrek booze-joints, or Paulist Christian Churches based on Paul's spiritistic communications with the dead (freely practiced by the apostle paul in open rebellion against the Torah given to Mosheh). Going to a Bosveld Pub is usually an irritating, low-class experience. Sad...

The Famous 4-Way intersection on route to Sun City for most of us....<br/><br/>I can always remember as a child, my brother and sisters knew...once we pass here, we are halfway to Sun City. My dad never bothered to stop here, as to him, we had to be in Sun City at a certain time! Why? I had no idea, it's not like we missing anything.<br/><br/>Hartebeestpoort Dam... "Upper Deck" should be a heritage sight. We always wondered about this place.... It seemed so forbidden.<br/><br/>Then coming back from Sun City in the afternoon....<br/>(Dad "We have to leave at 10am .... and rush home!"?).<br/>Driving home we couldn't wait to see Hartebeestpoort Dam or just the Dam water. Then just before that 4-Way stop where you turn right, there is "The Upper Deck" and bikers galore... It was so cool and forbidden.<br/>Years later I bought a bike, best friend and I rode to Hartebeestpoort Dam and we ended up outside "The Upper Deck!"...rode my bike right up to the entrance, parked, jumped off and I thought to myself... "I HAVE ARRIVED!!!!!!".<br/><br/>Words cannot explain those feeling alas.... The food does speak.<br/><br/>Sat down, helmet on the table and ...The menu!<br/>Prices are in the range of the "Northern Suburbs"! But who am I to complain about prices. It's there presented to me... I need decide to stay or go.<br/><br/>Last week I ended up here whilst they had "Black Friday " on promotion, so the Esbein was 50% off. I heard later that it's not the normal big one, it was a bit smaller. A bit smaller was my breakfast the next day and the chicken schnitzel was amazing.<br/>Both meals were just right, perfect. The Esbein was just the way I remembered it. Seems kinda silly but whenever I end up here.... I order the very same thing every time, just seems befitting.<br/><br/>Looking around you can get the biker feel and well know it's not a fancy joint in Sandton or even close.<br/>It's like you see it in the movies.... "A Biker Hang Out.."<br/>I love this joint. I dress accordingly and expect accordingly.... food was fantastic, prices a bit high... but that's me.<br/>Service... sadly can't blame a restaurant for their waiters or waitresses. I hope management addresses this with their staff, reading other posts, it does seem to be an issue.<br/><br/>Definitely worth an experience as you honestly will never understand the feelings you get here, especially on a Sunday "Bikers Run".... please please please when in Rome do as the Romans do...just saying.<br/>Not for an anniversary lunch or dinner, not for Valentine's Day. Birthdays!!! If hubby is not a biker, try to avoid. Not a the type of family day lunch "City People" think of...<br/><br/>However I must say, I took my daughter here when she was 5. Couldn't get her off the dance floor...bikers were amazing to us or they spotted something in my daughter.

Mixed feelings when it comes to this restaurant. During the week, its pleasant. The service is good and the food is good. Really enjoy the eisbine. On the weekend service is not great but the vibe and entertainment is usually very nice. 50/50

A nice and casual pub with regular pub food, affordable drinks and live music. Nice outside seating as well as indoor where you can hang out with friends, meet locals and even watch live sports on a big screen. Really nothing fancy about this place, but if you are in town and you want to knock back a few, this is the place to go.

I have been here quite a few times! And I must say... I have never been disappointed. All of the food served is fresh, tasty, well plated, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is awesome! Especially when there is a band playing! (If that's your thing!) <br/><br/>2 main downfalls on our meal: our snails were cold, and the jalapeno poppers were not the best I have ever had! BUT also not terrible!! I'm used to poppers being full of cheese, creamy and rich! The batter needs to be nice and thick, and the overall popper needs to be juicy. These particular ones did not necessarily meet these standards.. however they were still edible! <br/><br/>The nachos were awesome!! It had a ton of jalapenos on, the salsa was amazing, there was so much cheese, and the entire dish just worked! Definitely a big fan!

Very friendly staff lovely food and atmosphere with good music , the entrance is just a little confusing for a first time visitor because it looks and feel like you are driving past it into the dark

Great pub setting we visited. Visited in the day so quiet, very low prices, long wait for food but worth it. Hubby enjoyed his ribs and I loved my waffel with ice cream.

Restaurant came highly recommended so we booked a Valentines Day Lunch and were offered the "special" menu for the day. A Red tablecloth was the sum of Valentines effort, nevertheless we were there for the food. Crispy Eisbein was ordered but not a crispy piece of crackling in sight, instead a soggy piece of jellied pork was presented. Manager said we should have ordered it "Crispy" which was amusing as Crispy was was offered on the Valentine's menu. The Vegetable Bake was totally uncooked, like a salad with hot cheese sauce! Ice cream was unavailable despite the special menu offering this for dessert. The waiter was apologetic but Management appeared disinterested. Totally spoilt our day, and we won't be returning or recommending.

S and I arrived here on Tuesday for lunch. We shared an eisbein and then the chicken starter. Had the Irish Red craft beer. Eisbein was very big. I'm glad we shared. We both enjoyed the Irish Red. The chicken was marinated and was tasty. Service was very quick. It was very pleasant and cool under the thatch umbrellas.

This place is completely overrated! Music is to loud. Food is average and over priced. The service is bad to non existent. Think my money would've been better spend at KFC. And I don't like KFC

Departing from Lion Park the next morning, in between the more than two hours coach ride to north-west Johannesburg, we stopped for lunch at The “Upper Deck Restaurant”. Busy-busy bustling with tourists, Upper Deck is a laid-back rustic grill-restaurant, boasting a huge and lively garden terrace and live music. As we sat at the outside dining area, sort of a similar concept to Kirstenbosch Garden Moyo Restaurant, lunch opened up with a salad and then we opted between the three platters - seafood, steak and lamb, indeed, huge portions paired with salad and plentiful of fries. For dessert, while we continued sipping the chilled drinks and beer, we were served the colorful assortment of sweet stuffs - really and truly sweet!    <br/><br/>Despite literally forcing ourselves to finish off the set lunch, I suppose only so much one can eat. But the good thing was that we helped the tour guide to pack the leftovers for the underprivileged. In fact, throughout the past couple of days after dining, we have been doing it to support the guide's humanitarian work.    <br/><br/>Indeed, dining in this restaurant was a nice experience as part of our travel venture to South Africa.

Eddie Venter and I enjoyed great burgers here on a quick pit stop on our way to Haarties. Large outside seating area and great live music added to the fun ambiance. A well known bikers hang out, the roar of bikes is a continuous back track. The service was pretty good considering how busy they were. Well priced and tasty food.

Upper deck always has a great vibe going and always enjoy it. Sadly I have to say that food was a bid of a let doing. The eisben is good but unfortunately the fat was soggy and not crisp enough. We ordered 2 burgers, both double cheese but, they where totally different. One had baisting sauce and the other one did not, one had gherkins and the other not. Also I think the order got confused but we belive one of them was also a veggie pattie. The service was overall speedy and always with a smile but the food can have a relook. I will go back for the drinks and the live music, but I will give the food a skip

Brilliant service, friendly waiters. Food a bit of a let down; friend and I ordered the same thing, double cheese burgers. His came with basting but tasted like soy... Mine came without basting but was juicy and tender. His also came with gherkins mine did not, mine came with a pinky mayo, his did not. No consistency considering we ordered the same thing... Other friends ordered the eisbine and the schnitzel which were good.

Great as always. Upgraded the menus a bit and has a great festival feel. Had the Mighty Mince with a Castle Light (which wasn't cold as we hoped). The breakfast was cheap and cheerful, as much as you can hope to get from mince and egg on a bun, just that. Overall very nice!

I heard very good things about this etablishment before visiting. I was in the area on a mini holiday so I thought why not? <br/><br/>Unfortunately I was very disappointed. The food was below par, music was too loud, terrible atmosphere. Just everything about this place was terrible.<br/><br/>You can taste that the food was simply defrosted. The portions were not so great (besides the Eisbein). The variety very poor.<br/><br/>Try to avoid this restaurant if possible.

Nice place if you like crowds and loud music. Nicely situated. However, the food was really bad. I will not recommend this place to people who like good quality food.

Was an interesting experience at the Upper Deck Restaurant . Love how close it was to where we were staying . However I feel as if the prices for the food which has a limited menu is over priced . However lovely service .

Nice place to go if you have a crowd & want to drink and listen to music. They had a live band playing with bond fires. Cocktails are good.

Went here for the rugby, nice vibe to it, they have live music and tons of rides and jungle gyms for the kids, we had their nachos which was delicious how ever I would've loved more jalapenos. My other friend had their eisbein which is gigantic but he enjoyed it thoroughly, both their jam jars are dangerous because they taste so good but are potent! Our waitress was excellent. Nice place to drive out to if you're near Harties.

The Upper Deck Restaurant. You will love this place if you are an Afrikaans music lover. We went there on a Saturday and it certainly looks like this is the place to be when in or around Harties. The place was packed and there was some live Afrikaans entertainment. People were dancing, there were two bachelors parties going on and everybody was in a seriously good mood!<br/><br/>I have to say, I really enjoyed myself here and I would definitely come back. I live in JHB so it is a little bit of a drive but it is well worth it. Especially if you want to experience something a little bit different!<br/><br/>This place was busy! Our service was great though. All of us ate the Eisbein after I read some rave reviews about it. It was delicious! I am not joking, that was the best Eisbein I have ever eaten. It was huge as well. I could not finish it so I had two very happy dogs later that night. The veggies that came with it was very tasty as well. I wish I took a photo of those monster Eisbeins but I guess you will have to go see for yourself what the fuss is about!<br/><br/>I am rating it a 4 based on my overall experience and I will definitely visit this restaurant again. I suggest you do as well if you find yourself in that part of the country!

Really good pub food, amazing eisbeins. The place is very busy on Sundays best is to come in early. There is also random bands that perform on the weekends some good some are so so.

Band brilliant - food average - Eisbein excellent - rumps were below average - beers ice cold - colourful crowd - makes for a good afternoon out.

I visited the upper deck earlier this year and devoured some of the most delicious sushi with a glass of white. Cant wait to visit again soon.
