I have never been disappointed when visiting French toast. Food outstanding waiter going that extra mile, a truly wonder day

A little French cafe at haarties. Friendly waiters, generous portions and an family friendly open setting. Peacocks roam around the restaurant as well as a sweet accordion player. A lot of French toast dishes on the menu; to be expected; but they all looked delicious. I went for the absolutely massive Eiffel tower burger. The lock bridge and Eiffel tower were fun attractions. You can purchase locks with your names engraved on to add to the bridges collection and profess your undying love to your partner.

French Toast Koffie Kafee in Hartbeespoort is a charming cafe that serves up delicious food and excellent coffee. The menu is varied and includes a range of breakfast and lunch options, with something for everyone. The French toast, in particular, is a must-try, and the coffee is some of the best in the area. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel at home. The outdoor seating area is also lovely, with views of the beautiful Harties Eifel tower. Whether you're looking for a quick coffee or a leisurely meal, French Toast Koffie Kafee is a great choice.

If you’re looking to get a feel of mini Europe then this is the place for you. The meals are delicious, filling and affordable. I love love the mini ‘Eiffel Tower’ with a love lock bridge where you can attach an engraved padlock to the railings (at a small fee) with your SO, family and/or children and either throw the keys away or keep them. A nice short left from JHB with affordable and fun activities to do in the vicinity as well (we went quad biking after this - even though we were super stuffed and needed a nap lol). Perfect spot for brunch! The place was quite busy but the service was great.

What an exceedingly delightful and tranquil encounter. The cuisine is exquisite, and the service is prompt and impeccable. I have naught to express but praise in my review. This establishment holds poignant reminiscences with my deceased mother, rendering it an exceptionally significant destination to frequent whenever circumstances permit.
Duncan Brown
Simply perfect. The restaurant is quaint and beautifully french. The menu adds a premium cuisine. Lovely atmosphere.

Enjoyed a my afternoon with a friend and kids at The French Toast spot. It is really beautiful, peaceful and a great atmosphere us created by the lovely service and warm welcome. It was not full as it was during the week. We opted to sit in and have lunch which meant we could walk around for free. It is R20 entrance if you only want to walk in and take pictures or you could buy lovely locks that are engraved for R180 or R140. It is definitely worth going however there isn't much for young kids/toddlers to do. The menu has a variety of great meals too.

Relaxed atmosphere, great coffee, excellent staff. The food is great. Quiet corners to enjoy conversations.

A stunning venue to walk around, enjoy the beautiful scenery and decor, enjoy the music, watch the ducks, peacocks and peahens, and have something divine to eat and drink. You can purchase a lock there or you can take your own. There is an engraving machine which you can use to engrave your lock. The atmosphere is very romantic and it feels like you are hours out of city life. The magnum milkshake is worth the visit on its own. It's not as sweet as you would think - it is perfectly balanced in terms of sweetness. The rest of the menu was an emotional struggle for me because everything looked so good. Judging on what we have had, I think they may be as good as it sounds. The only con that I had was the vegetable crisps (which is a personal preference) - I didn't feel like it complimented the dish at all, other than aesthetics. The waiters were so friendly and helpful. A mistake was made with our order but it was rectified in such a wonderful manner. Definitely a place to go if you are feeling for something different or celebrating something.

Charming place, it kind of felt they didnt want us to stay long. Waiter was a bit pushy. Cake was excellent though and it says free but you either need to pay R20 pp or buy a lock or eat in to enter, this is where I kind of lost interest but decided to have a coffee.

My verjaarsdag oggend bederf! Ek was regtig so teleurgesteld. Het my dood geskaam dat ek my gaste French Toast toe genooi het om die oggend te geniet. Kos het 2 ure gevat! Almal was dood honger. Twee van ons het hare in ons kos gevind. Nee wat, daar is groot fout. Ek waardeer dat die manager wel kom omverskoning vra oor die hare op die borde kos maar die skade was reeds gedoen.

Really really nice. A busy spot so get there early. Waited for a table (worth the wait) but the food service was fast and friendly and the food was great!! Well worth the trip ♡

Having to wait 45 minuets for a table for 5 ppl is one thing but then having to wait an additional 55min for our food order simply wasn’t worth it. Food was great however but slightly overpriced... if you have plenty of time to waste then I would still recommend this venue as we all enjoyed our food.

First visit to French Toast Koffie Kafee yesterday (03/12/2017). Hubby and I arrived there at around 11:00 and the place was so busy, however; we gave the hostess our number and walked around a bit...20mins later we got a call to say a table is ready for us. Our waiter was very efficient...took our orders and in less than 15mins, our orders were delivered to us. Best french toast I ever had...golden and crispy outside and soft inside...yummy :-) One suggestion though...instead of Golden Syrup, please serve them with real Maple syrup <3 Cannot wait for our next visit :-)

Bad service, over priced, no condiment's were offered or on the table had to ask for them and delivered to the table after you had completed your meal. One meal arrived after we had all finished eating. Visited 11/08/2018 for breakfast, sat outside in the cold not a good experience.

All I can say is WOW. So very glad we decided to give French Toast a visit. We did have to wait a while for a table, which was understandable seeing how busy they were and we did not have a booiking. We were seated under a lovely shaded tree which was great as yesterday was extremely hot. We ordered the cheese platter for two and again WOW. What a great variety of taste and textures. When ordering I was afraid it wouldnt be enough , boy was I wrong. The service was also great , from the hostess that greeted us to the waiter that served us, so sorry cant remember his name. We will definately be back.

Brilliant restaurant excellent service great food friendly staff very busy restaurant. But I would most definitely recommend all my friends and family to try frenchtoast koffie kafee. 😁👍🏻

Was excited to try this restaurant after hearing of good experiences. After visiting the Harties parkrun this past Saturday we thought we’d finally try it out. It wasn’t as expected. The food was average and the service wasn’t great. I was quite disappointed as the idea and the ambience is beautiful. Hopefully it was just an off day and would like to give the place a second chance when I’m in the area again.

A much anticipated trip with my family and friends. Both couples carrying 9 month old baby’s! We firstly asked for a table, which took over an hour to get. We were then escorted to our table in the hot blazing sun. This was the only table with out an umbrella the sun hit directly on us and our babies! We ordered our drinks which took about 15 minutes to get! We ordered our meals that took another hour to come. The food came and there was no cutlery, it took another 10 minutes to get the waiter to bring this. The food was horrible!!! The dough from the bread and buns were raw and doughy, tasted disgusting and stuck to our palates. The cheese from the cheese grilled also stuck! The patties tasted raw and made my friend sick! We ordered more drinks and the waiter got that wrong! We asked for the manager who was so unprofessional, unbelievably rude, she seemed distant and our situation did not phase her! When clearing up the table the waiter dropped sauce all over my friends pants! The waiters service was terrible. We did not finish our meals. I think we all took 2 bites out of it! We received the bill from the same manager and had to pay the full price!!! Absolutely pathetic service! We will not recommend this place at all!

First visit on Sunday. Felt like I was in Paris all over again. Ambience was great. Milkshake was divine. Food portion was huge.. next time will share my meal beautiful experience.

We were really blessed. Our waiter was Carlton - he was excellent, attentive to our order and all our needs. Breakfast was great. The ambiance was amazing! We had a great morning out! Thank you! We wanted to buy a lock to hang up but they only take cash. Sad but not a biggie.
Desiree Smith
The wait for our drinks and food was very long and looking around I saw many unhappy customers who probably experienced the same delay. Once the food arrived we were happy as it was tasty. However we were hassled throughout our meal by irritating flies. There must be something they can do to repel them? Not sure if I will rush back there again.
Anthoney Boucher
The food was great! French toast seems to be made with thick slices of home made bread. We had the Hot dog deluxe and chicken fillet burger. The portions are filling. Cappuccino was good and served with a delicious small rusk. Prices are a bit steep but well worth it! I do however suggest that the prices/menus on Zomato get updated as our dishes where 25-30 rand more expensive per dish.

Please update the menu and prices on Zomato

Waiters are really not keen to come and take your order. Must be much cooler inside where they are all chatting.

Waiting list to be seated, yet those after, on the list, get seated before you. 😼👎<br/>On the flip side. Service was good. Food was alright. Ambience fabulous.
Crissy Van Zyl
Not too bad.. but could do with a bit of improvement.<br/><br/>We ordered the hot dog, which was nice but the bread was a bit stale 😕 making it unpleasant to chew.<br/><br/>The menu is a bit limited.. if you don't want something french toast with it.. then you ain't eating 😅

Beautiful place to venture out to. Lovely for couple pictures at the Eiffel Tower and to purchase infinity locks to place on the bridge and tower itself. Really has the essence of Paris. French pastry smells, vintage cars. However that being said, We waited an hour for our food which in my books is a no no. The chicken burger French toast that my boyfriend ordered arrived cold after an hour of waiting. And the “rye” we ordered instead of the normal brioche wasn’t rye at all. More like brown bread. Overall beautiful place to visit. Wouldn’t eat here again though.

This place is known for smaller sized looking Eiffel tower and love lock bridge. most dishes here feature French toast ,it's quite a popular place and seats fill up fast .I choose Eggs Benedict with salmon with French toast and peanut butter smoothie ,it was enjoyable meal overall but peanut butter smoothie was quite sweet and not as much peanut butter as I wanted in milkshake .Good presentation and service here

Ambiance: We were lucky to be seated immediately after our arrival. The place has such a nice vibe, good for thinking and great conversation.<br/>Service: Place was very busy and service was not great. We waited with empty glasses and a table that needed to be cleared for a long time.<br/>Food: The food is good and the portion size makes it value for money. The milkshakes are so good! Will probably come back for them.

Very lekker plek, I don't know the French word for lekker. It's cost, great service and the food portions are insane, I had to have the biggest thing on the menu as I had the munchies, the Eiffel tower was madness, in a good way, I was stuffed like sausage. Best place for a Saturday outing. Well done Afrifraans people, I shall be back to tackle the hotdog! The actual food item not a hotdog walking around.

Visited French Toast for our anniversary breakfast. The restaurant has a beautiful little set up, with an Eiffel Tower and a love lock bridge.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the food. The vegetable crisps were a lovely side, but the meal itself lacked flavour and tasted quite dry.
Ronel Stapelberg
Romantic, festive and pet friendly!<br/><br/>We visited this Cafe twice during the previous three days, and will most definitely go back. I love their food, service and ambiance! This restaurant is classy, but still allows pet owners to enjoy the company of their four legged friends while enjoying good food.<br/><br/>Our first visit was for a Friday lunch. Our pets were not with us, and we sat inside. The inside decor is classic French, and I love their furniture, paintings and statuettes. They were not very busy, and we enjoyed a peaceful meal in the airconditioned comfort of days cone by.<br/><br/>On Sunday morning we went back for breakfast. We arrived at 9:30 and it was very busy. We were welcomed by two friendly ladies, informing us that the waiting list is almost 30 minutes. Our two Dachshunds were with us, and we asked for a table outside. We visited the aquarium on the premises while we waited and the 30 min went almost to fast. We were seated at a lovely spot, with enough shade. The friendly waiter came almost immediately and because we studied the menu two days ago, we ordered our meal with our drinks to save time.<br/><br/>As stated on the menu, they do not have fast food. Be prepared to enjoy your drinks and each others' company while you wait for the kitchen staff to do their magic. The food is worth the wait. On the menu, the food seemed expensive, but when the food arrived, the portions and quality put the price in a whole different perspective. Although they were really very busy, the waiter came a several times to check if we needed something. The manager was walking from table to table to make sure that all their customers are satisfied.<br/><br/>Customers have the option to buy a lock that they can lock in place near the miniature Eiffel tower. It is a fun experience!<br/><br/>I can recommend the following:<br/>Dagwood sandwich - a monster food tower of french toast, chicken breast, egg and tomato.<br/>Chicken mayo sandwich - delicious!<br/>Chocolate milkshake<br/>Plaasontbyt - eggs and bacon on french toast. Yummy!<br/>Cappuccino. (The coffee is good, but the cappuccino is not strong enough for my taste. I ordered a double espresso to add to the mega cappuccino. Granted: I normally drink very strong black coffee.)<br/><br/>
Izelle De Jager
Lovely spot for a breakfast or brunch. Has nice outdoor seating and a mini eiffell tower which is cool for photos and photoshoots. Milkshakes and food was good. Good place for a family or couple's day out of the city.

<br/>French Toast Koffie Kafee is a recommended and landmark eatery in Hartebeestport area.<br/><br/>The menu is largely based on 'French Toast' with interesting sweet and savoury variations. There are good salad and sandwich options too. Servings were large portioned, had fresh ingredients and well presented.<br/><br/>Specially built for a movie set, it offers a unique taste of Paris in SA, complete with authentic french music, decor and even an Eiffel tower replica.<br/><br/>Expect long waiting queues, as the place is popular.

Took a drive out to Hartebeespoort and decided to stop here. My husband was shocked at how many cars were in the parking and that were coming and going. <br/>We had to put our names on the waiting list but it was not long and gave us a chance we wonder around.<br/>The staff are very friendly and do their jobs well.<br/>Coffee is a little weak but hits the spot.<br/>The food is ok but don’t come hungry because it takes quite a while to arrive<br/>

We visited French Toast Koffie Kafee on New Year’s Day and it was spectacular. <br/><br/>The restaurant is situated in a quaint block of shops, the gift and curio shops make you feel as if you’re in an old European town. The hostess was polite and immediately found us table, even without a booking. The waiter was courteous and constantly attending to us without being intrusive. <br/><br/>The food was sublime, and perfectly proportioned.<br/><br/>We’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu.<br/><br/>Don’t forget to buy your “lovelock”<br/>

Not many vegetarian options but still a lovely vibe, the wait wasn’t too long and the staff was very helpful and kind, I would definitely recommend going there and hope visit again soon.

Really disappointing. Went to the cafe and it was full and you had to make a reservation or leave your name - 40min waiting time which is 100% understandable as they are busy. So decided to go to the little bake away - which is like a grab and go of the cafe. The server/cashier was absolutely rude, she didn't greet, didn't have a smile on her face, didn't even want to answer our questions. We asked what cakes do they have and she just pointed to the glass display and said "whatever is there" (With a raised eyebrow)<br/>Upon cashing for us, she didn't even ask if that will be all she just looked at us and raised both her eyebrows, once we paid, she didn't even look in our direction to give our card or even say thank you. It was really disappointing as I had high expectations of this place and at least expected to be treated properly
Allison Chothia
What a terrible experience. At first we were told there was a 40min waiting period and we could see at least 6 (4 to 8 seater) tables available. The second time around, at least 12 free tables and a 20 min waiting period with no patrons queuing. They have no idea how to handle customers, turn tables or what the essence of service is. I will never return.

I thought it would be a good idea to drive out to Harties and make a pitstop at French Toast. When I drove into the parking area, I feared that the place might be full. Alarm bells went off when I saw the long waiting list.... I was told there is a 40 - 50 minute waiting list..(note to self, don’t come over a weekend!). After 45 minutes, we were told we can come and take a seat at a minuscule table. After about 5 minutes the waitress arrived and took out drinks order. Once this arrived we placed our food order. Being so busy on a Sunday, it took a while for our food to get to the table. I expected the onion rings to be warm when it got to the table. Sadly it was cold. The meal was ok (will try something else if I go there again). If you’re not in a hurry or very hungry, go and try them out.
Ornella Scarpellini
Absolutely adore this place! The food, ambiance, setting and location. It's absolutely perfect and worth the drive. I'm always keen to go on a road trip and French Toast is the perfect little pit stop.
Promise_foodie
Always wanted to check out the place, well they aren't kidding everything comes with French toast! It was a bit full had to wait in line to get a table however the staff was very friendly, they also make a very good milk tart!
Sashin Naidoo
Really good French toast and very neatly displayed food too with a cute and enjoyable setting. The Eifel Tower creates a very romantic setting. A good drive out if you live in the North of Johannesburg. The waiter was very friendly, very accommodating with my requests as most of the dishes offer bacon/ham and I didn’t want any of that.
Zethu Dumakude
Can't go wrong with the banana, bacon and maple syrup French toast. The coffee is amazing. Truly a gem in harties and worth the short drive.
Zané Möhr
Cute venue in terms of location but the food is, I'm sad to say, not edible. I had the herb French toast with mozzarella bread sticks: the bread had no herbs, hardly any coating and horribly bland, the mozzarella sticks was cheap deep fried cheese serves with an overly sweet tomato jam. I would expect a coffee shop that specialise in French toast to get it right. <br/>All the breakfasts get served with French toast, so I expect the problem is through out the menu. <br/>I wouldn't eat here again, for me, it was that bad. <br/>But it's a cute spot, perhaps the lunch is better.
Eat Like A Legend
Unauthentic poorly prepared and poor quality ingredients. Bitterly disappointing representation of such a wonderful cuisine 😞😞😞 Took a beautiful country like France and made it a theme park #heartbreaking 💔💔💔💔
Sean William
Very nice, relaxing space for a Sunday afternoon lunch with friends.<br/><br/>The menu is pretty much French Toast (and something)... so don’t expect a huge variety.<br/><br/>So I had the Roasted Butternut and Beetroot salad without the Feta. (Trying to cut out dairy)
Angelo Toitoi
A very cute, sweet and thematic Café I must say ♥ . I ordered apple crumble and it was good with a generous portion 👌😀. It wasn't too sweet *which I like!... A friend of mine ordered berries croissant casserole... It looks delicious *unfortunately I didn't taste it*but I bet by the looks it must be gorgeous! And the Cappuccino is excellent!<br/>That French style - atmosphere really is something different and really pleasant. A lil Paris in SA 🤗😊<br/>I saw the cafe from the internet and only yesterday had a chance to visit...and of course I'll come back again very very soon 😘😘

Breakfast with my baby sister. We had delicious bore coffee and a hearty breakfast fit for vikings! Service was good, food was delicious and ambiance so country. Just perfect!

Have been looking forward to visiting FT for a while so when we were in the area this past Sunday, we decided to pop in. Okay they had a bit of a waiting list - which I thought does say something about the place.<br/><br/>Waited for some time until we got a waiter. A young man came to take our order, didn't introduce himself and he didn't have a name tag. .<br/><br/>Their breakfasts seem very big and we wanted something smaller. We ordered scones which sounded devine.<br/><br/>After while (a long while) he came back and apologised - they didn't have scones. Orders changed, more waiting and after a good long wait and a trip to whom I think was the manager we received our food and drinks.<br/><br/>Would I go again - not sure. The croissants were fresh, buttery and crisp. Service was not great.

This weekend we needed to drop off a package in Harties. Not wanting to leave it as a boring trip, we planned a stop at French toast. It's an adorable, art sy little place with a mini Eiffel Tower, lock love gate thing etc. the restaurant itself is used as a film set regularly and it's not hard to see why. The decor has a really cool ambience and adds to the whole experience. I ordered a chicken burger sandwhiched between 2 French toast slices and my girlfriend ordered a cheese griller wrapped in bacon. most meals come with a side salad and ironically there aren't any French fries on offer. a healthier option I suppose! the dessert was crazy delicious. a banana, peanut butter sauce French toast mash up wiyh whipped cream. I definitely recommend this place for any couple or group of friends. It's a great place to get away from the city and relax in Paris.
Sean Slabbert
Looking to do something different for breakfast, try this place. Liked the look and feel of the Paris themed venue. Breakfast recommendations were good. Eggs Benedict were tasty and the coffee was good.
Valery Mthunywa
The scenery is beautiful, it’s not like Paris though. The restaurant service wasn’t up to par but tolerable. <br/>The food was delicious!! Everything was cooked well
Nikita
Such a fun concept. French toast is included in almost every meal. <br/>The service is friendly and the food is well prepared and tasty. <br/>The best part about the place is the environment. <br/>There is a lovely outdoor area with ducks, chickens and a beautiful water pond which surrounds a mini Eiffel Tower. <br/>A must try !
Jess Styles
The only reason to visit here is for the fun decor. The restaurant however is rather dismal. Sadly we visited for a friend's 30th birthday and couldn't find a single redeeming factor. Between us we had the burgers, camembert and berry toast, chocolate fondant and red velvet cupcake. Everything was terrible unfortunately. Despite the food taking over an hour, it was cold and tasted stale (it tastes lkke my french toast was made the day before and just heated). Everything was extremely dry and completely flavourless. Don't go for the food. Go for the experience.
Eurisa Silushka Naicker
This is a most memorable outing. Though I'd rate the food alone at 3 the entire experience upped it to a 4. Surrounding by the Eifel Tower in every shape and form, this quaint cafe has done a sterling job of creating a world of its own. The menu is literally French toast in every shape and form! With a limited sandwich option and a few cakes. I opted for the herb infused French toast whuch wasn't very Herby with the exception of the herbs dusted on it. The accompanying tomato jam and deep fried mozerella sticks were sublime. My husband's toasted ham and cheese was alright. I will be visiting again but probably for tea and cake.
Tasmika Amin
I'd seen soo much about this place on social media the term "hyped" could actually be considered an understatement.<br/><br/>The setting is pretty and quaint. Murals and of course the mini "Eiffel tower" and love lock bridge. It's gimmicky but I enjoyed it.<br/><br/>The menu has a disclaimer basically to not expect fast food/service and they were right. It was on the slow side but I wasn't too fussed since it is rather relaxing and scenic outside.<br/><br/>I ordered the French toast and honestly was rather disappointed. It was cold and hard. As though it had not been soaked in egg mixture enough and had been left standing for ages after being made. A steak knife may have been needed to cut through properly.<br/><br/>The surrounds is really what makes this place as popular as it is but with regards to food, I found it lacking unfortunately.<br/><br/>
Tanya Vorster Bezuidenhout
Food looks good but tastes average. I think the hype is more for the Eiffel tower.<br/>Very good service though.<br/><br/>Maybe we just need to try something else.
Adele Du Toit
Beautiful setting under large trees, with stunning attention to detail in the decor. Most menu items include French toast and some dishes are quite elaborate. Mini Eiffel Tower and bridge with lovers’ locks complete the French flair. Food was ok, but worth a visit.
Little Miss Rabbit 🐇
Must try restaurant!! Portions sizes are small like is Paris, France. The Eiffel Tower and love lock idea was cute. Prices on the menu affordable. Quality of food was good. Good family experience....
Zakiyya Cassimjee
Would 2017 and the summer holidays be without a visit to the fake Eiffel Tower.<br/><br/>Not to disappoint, on a balmy 35 deg last day of the year. <br/>Waited about 30 mins for a table on a Sunday afternoon. I called ahead but you cannot pre book.<br/><br/>Walked around the quaint shops and Eiffel tower to occupy the kids.<br/><br/>Food was ok , not wow. Abit over rated and I found the toast to be too egg like. Not many vegetarian options. <br/><br/>Service was mediocre. <br/><br/>Its a pretty place though and lots of photo opportunities<br/>
Tashnee Dhaver
Best french toast ever tasted!!!<br/>And not just plain french toast.... you can have anything from breakfast to lunch to dessert... <br/>but the one that will make me come back for more is those delicious cheese grillers wrapped in a french toast:)
Hanno Nel
Friendly staff with very good food. Pricing is quite reasonable value for money. Atmosphere is relaxed even on a busy Saturday, background music was not too loud, interesting to hear known Afrikaans songs in French.
Lucianrajah
An interesting concept that imitates a French café experience well. After seeing it, naturally I had the burger. A huge, double patty affair crammed with the usual (cheese, tomato, lettuce, etc.) And in keeping with the theme - the bun substituted with french toast. The patty is good, not great and altogether good food let down by poor service. The deli just outside the restaurant has great biltong though.
Michael
Excellent service! Friendly staff. Warm welcome from Pretty at the front desk and a very pleasant and smiley waitress Sharon! Food was very tasty, cooked just right! Thank you for your service, will definitely be back in the future:)
Cecilé Cloete
If you want a short trip to Paris, this is the place to go. This very cute cafe really made an effort to include every possible detail to make your Paris dream come true. The venue, food, entertainment and service is excellent. It is also a great place to take photos.
Kimson Chan
Right in the centre of Harties is this little Paris cafe called French Toast Koffie Kafee. The setting and ambience is pretty amazing and gives us a sense of Paris. As for the menu, I loved the way they told us that the food will take long. Nevertheless the food was quite nice and pretty decent.
Mamare
Beautiful peaceful setting. Lots of parking. Feels like Paris even if I've never been there. Surrounded by nature. I prefer outside sitting to mingle with ducks, her birds singing and beautiful weather at all times. Lots of beautiful spots for photo shooting.<br/>Food fresh, delicious. I have tried many of their menus and all did not disappoint. Service from regular waiters excellent even when busy. As s visitor, please be patient with young temporary waiters as they are inexperienced and learning😊<br/>All in all, I take my visiting friends and business clients there. I highly recommend it.
Janelda Brooks
For our anniversary get away we decided to have breakfast at french toast. From the time we got there the service was friendly but a bit absent since we sat down.<br/><br/>To drink my husband ordered a milkshake and i a Mega Cuppacino. When my cappacino arrived, it waa smaller than expected and also stronger than what im used to.<br/><br/>I then ordered smoked salmon on a croissant with scrambled egg and cream cheese. We waited so long for the food to arrive and onceit arrived i was so dissapointed. The "cream cheese" was just decoration on top of the croissant and the egg inside the croissant. I was hoping it to be on the side.<br/><br/>It tasted ok but lacked flavour,i was pouring the salad dressing over it as i thought it was a condement for this dish.not even realising it wasn't meant for the dish but for the salad.<br/><br/>The music was also a bit too loud in my opinion but the place was decorated fashionably and liked the menu place mat idea.<br/><br/><br/>
Carla Role Du Plessis
This cafe has such a lovely vibe with fitting decor! The mini Eiffel tower makes for a lovely background for photos. The coffee is delicious and the food is interesting with a French twist.
Ria
A unique beautiful setting. Loved the Eiffel towel outside with the engraved locks.<br/><br/>We had to wait a while to be seated, seems to get really busy!<br/>There are not much choices if you carb conscious - everything on the menu is French toast!!<br/>People around us had milkshakes - looked awesome.<br/>Service is VERY slow, exhausting with kids - so best to not go when you are starving. Food is average ,well presented.   I was a bit disappointed personally - pretty standard, bland breakfast.
Kelley Joubert
Beautiful setting, food presented well and staff very friendly :) I recommend the camembert French toast and French toast with roomkaas en bessies :)
Neil Du Toit
How do you call yourself French Toast when you can't even make it? The bread inner was dry, the exterior had a hint of egg on it. Basically we ate lightly buttered toast . Waited and hour for the food, only to receive well below par quality. The staff are also useless and left us unattended for the whole time. If you don't believe me have a look at these photos.
Ameera Sackoor
Loved the ambience of this restaurant. The food was really good. The overall concept is very beautiful and definitely worth the trip if like me you live a bit far.

I had such a pleasant afternoon at this cafe. Lovely spot. The atmosphere of the place is amazing. The set up is different from anything I've seen anywhere in SA. Apart from the french decor and the Eiffel Tower they have a lady dressed up in traditional french dressing playing an accordion! I didn't have a full meal. Just had a milkshake and a slice of carrot cake. Yummy! The only reason I wouldn't rate them a 5 is because the milkshakes took a little longer than most places. But it was worth the wait!<br/>So I visited this spot again and my experience second time around was not so pleasant. Waited for 20 minutes for a waiter and it wasn't even that full. Ordered egg benedict on french toast and five roases tea. The eggs were cold. I make better french toast at home; it was dry. Serving size was big. They serve it with vegetable crisps, those were nice, but not a good side option for the meal. The milk served with the teas was right out of the freezer it was so cold. read more

Our first time at the venue. Came through for breakfast and we weren’t disappointed, kids enjoyed their food and so did we. Atmosphere was relaxing, food was great and the coffee was hot. Will be back.

I have never seen such outright disregard from a waiter due to the colour of my skin. From a black waiter at that, never introduced himself, left the food at the table and didn't bother to even check on us at all. The table behind me where white people, where he even went as far as to ask them if they prefer "Afrikaans or English" and treated them completly different. Wow.. in this day and age? CRAZY!!! Would never ever go back there.
Marizanne Augoustinos
Will never eet there again nor suggest anyone to eat there. My card was duplicated, waiter spoiled himself a bit using my card. We had 3 different waiters, the person who first attended to us told as that another person will be our waiter but that he will assist us for now, not even sure how the real waiter looked liked. Wont trust the place again.
Pedro Augusto
Poor service and no good food. People come to look at the mini Eifel Tower, but no one should stay to eat. It is definitely overpriced for what they serve.

Wow, wow, wow<br/>Say no more! Awesome breakfasts and lunches<br/>Need to go early for breakfast, some days so busy, people Q outside to get a table<br/>Def worth going!!
PrinishaM 💋
Finally got a chance to try this restaurant and really do not know what all the hype is about. The food was very disappointing. We ordered the Hamburger french toast and Hot-dogs au pain dore, both only looked pretty on the plate (very bland). The upside of French Toast are their milkshakes, I recommend the Peanut butter flavor. <br/><br/>I won’t be driving 87 km in a hurry to visit this place and I suggest if you going during peak season arrive early as there is a +- 25 min wait. <br/><br/>

Very nice concept. Ideal for a Sunday afternoon tea. Great service. Had the French toast with cranberry and camembert. It was good. I will be back.

I finally made it to PARIS!😍<br/>Drove down with my partner on a Sunday morning just in time for brunch, unfortunately it was booked to capacity. So the young lady at the entrance took our details for when a table opens.<br/><br/>We decided to around and take some pictures to kill time. Before we could engrave our names on a locker, we got a call that a table was ready for us.<br/><br/>I was abit disappointed we didn't get a table outside but nonetheless the atmosphere was amazing. Our order came in time and the food was scrumptious. Oh and we had a cute Eiffel Tower on our table! <br/><br/>Definitely worth that 45 Minutes on the road.

What a beautiful place that can have so much potential!<br/><br/>When we came there it was quite busy and the lady in the front greeted us and said you can go and sit @ any open space (we were 5) not an expert but she really need to be more helpful. <br/><br/>Our waiter was sooo stressed and clumsy as he even spilled the sparkling wine as he does not through it in probably. <br/><br/>I asked for hard eggs and I got medium pouched eggs so did not eat it, the bread was fresh but I couldn't taste the soaked egg in it was almost only brushed on it and the bacon had no taste and was very oily.....<br/><br/>I had a taste of my moms yoghurt dish and that was really good especially the berry compote! And the coffee and orange juice was also good!<br/><br/>If I will be returning I will definitely eat the yogurt breakfast.
Brandon Parker
Venue is great. Love the bridge and "Eiffel tower", Its great for pictures and smiles.<br/>Food was okay. Perhaps I just ordered the 'wrong item'...<br/>Would definitely return and try something else.
Jurie Hayes
Been to this establishment quote a few times now and tried various things on the Menu and to date I have not been disappointed yet. <br/><br/>The waiters are friendly and the front of house staff helpful. Prices are also quite reasonable. And obviously the Decor inside is awesome!!<br/><br/>Will definitely be going again when I am in the area. The only problem that I really find is that you have to go quite early to get space as they don't take bookings and go on a first come first serve basis.<br/><br/>We were lucky this time around as there was only one table available when we got there. <br/><br/>If you going for a breakfast here and driving from JHB it might be quite a problem if you get there a little late and there no space. <br/><br/>But as some of the reviews below mentions it might actually be worth the wait if you have to wait for 30 minuted or so

Paris 45minutes from Fourways?<br/><br/>You would never believe it... but yes!<br/>I short drive from Fourways to Hartebeestpoort you will find yourself at French Toast, sitting next to the Eiffel Tower. Having an incredible champagne breakfast or a wonderful French Lunch....or French Toast.<br/><br/>This gem can be found on the R511 just before entering the beautiful residential area of Hartebeestpoort. Just passing the iconic windmill of Jasmyn Farm and before getting to Village Mall Schoemansville.<br/>Roughly 2km before the dam wall or the zoo or Aerial Cableway Hartebeestpoort.<br/><br/>Very unassuming as you drive to find parking on the dirt road. You get small glimpses of the Eiffel Tower (miniature version) but it's only when you enter this small little "village" that your heart just sinks and you start hear French music in the background.<br/>Welcome to this amazing restaurant...French Toast.<br/>Well needless to say you automatically start having a bit of a French accent and think of inspector Clouseau and the "Pink Panther! :-)"<br/><br/>Inspector Jacques Clouseau: "There is a time to laugh and a time not to laugh, and this is not one of them."<br/><br/>The French music continues and it's just wow!<br/>Not only have you escaped Sandton, Fourways and stressful Johannesburg, you have actually escaped South Africa...<br/><br/>A short wait while a table is being prepared for you, why not walk under the Eiffel Tower? See the amazing number of locks on the love lock bridge, each capturing a moment in time and I am sure there is definitely a storey behind every lock that's been left there for memorabilia.<br/><br/>Your imagination just runs wild sitting on one of the classical bicycles and just wondering...<br/><br/>Your table is ready:<br/>Guess I was lucky to be seated 10m from the Eiffel Tower.<br/>The menu just has options and all of them wonderful with the little Eiffel Tower on the table a perfect way to "Mark" the table numbers and remind you again..."Paris!"<br/><br/>I opted for Golden Fried French Toast topped with fillet. Red onions, marmalade and tomato salsa and creamy blue cheese sauce with chips... and wow<br/>InCrEdIbLe....<br/>There is an option for sweet and savoury, the above is savoury. Just in case you didn't know....<br/><br/>And yes, I tried the sweet as well:<br/><br/>Cinnamon infused Apple French Toast pie topped with a delicious crumble and cream cheese mousse... need I say more?<br/><br/>I encountered one problems here, my mouth went into automatic spasms ...kind of like pressing cntrl alt and del at the same time.<br/>My jaw just locked!!!<br/>The food is exceptional and so worth it, very different from any other restaurant I have visited.<br/><br/>Then a "ZaMaLeK!" ... good old South African Black Label to complete the meal.<br/><br/>So fancy a trip to Paris, no visa needed and issues with luggage?<br/>This is a must, Paris down the road.<br/>French Toast is a must for something out if the ordinary.<br/>Let your imagination run wild, get to French Toast, taste Paris...

If you are looking for a little Paris in the middle of Hartbeesport, this is the exact place you are looking. The food is good and the little Eiffel Tower with the locks on it, is an awesome touch.

It was hubby's birthday yesterday so we ventured out to this little gem with our special people.<br/><br/>The decor and atmosphere really makes you feel like you are in old Paris...french classical music sets the mood while you get swept away on a magical adventure (mini Eiffel tower included).<br/><br/>We got there after 12 but the manager allowed us to order from the breakie menu...you won me over.<br/><br/>I opted for the french toast with poached eggs and bacon 😍 heaven on my tongue!<br/><br/>Other orders placed included the beef burger (on franch toast bun), the french toast and camembert as well as the herb french toast.<br/><br/>Such an amazing place and a magical day out.<br/><br/><br/>
What Litha Ate
Another place to visit if you're looking for something different with a great atmosphere and some decent food. <br/>I had the mini hotdogs those cheesgrillers were amazing. <br/>The cool bit is that everything is served on French toast and to the non-egg-eaters eaters like myself you can hardly taste the egg, that was a bit plus for me. So that's not pastry around the mini dogs, it's French toast. My friends had the burger and their main issue was that it was dry. <br/>Do not come here if you want French fries, everything is served with a side salad. We had the shock of our lives, I mean weekends are made for pigging out!<br/><br/>Anyways this is lovely if you want to get away from the busy in JHB. <br/>#hartbeespoort #thefrenchtoast #whatlithaate #ilovefood

La nourriture est la vie et elle devrait être appréciée dans un environnement détendu. (Food is life and it should be enjoyed in a relaxed environment.) What a relaxed atmosphere. If you can get seating outside, go for it. Enjoy every moment. Add a love lock to your meal. Everything on the menu is delectable.
Rachael Lombard
Wonderful atmosphere! Amazing tasting food and very creative! The one downside was that we had to come back on another day as it was too busy and when we did go back and it was quiet, we still waited a while before our order arrived. It would be nice if they invested in a few baby seats, too.
Sesh
Finally got around to this 'little paris' spot. Its quaint and simply styled with background french music. Sit outside to enjoy the view of the Eiffel tower. <br/><br/>Our breakfasts of egg benedict and the basic breakfast of bacon, eggs and cheesegriller were good. The french toast wasnt really eggy though, it could have been buttered toast. The service is slow and not quite efficient, no need to wait to be seated as per sign as waiters just seem not interested. Meals, drinks do take long as well.
Raoul
A nice day visit to the Dam ended up with a late breakfast at this establishment. We waited for over an hour to get a table but it was a public holiday and it was really worth the wait. The food was delicious but the service was average to say the least. I had the eggs Benedict which was delicious but they did not ask me how I wanted my eggs. My kids had the burger with French toast and once again delicious. Worth a visit and even worth the wait. It's a pity they don't do bookings.

The family wanted to try something different so off we trekked to Harties to experience a bit of 'Paris'. The restaurant and surrounds are perfectly backdropped by the mini Eiffel Tower with live french music streaming through to perfect the setting. The 45 minute drive there left us ravenous but it being a Sunday morning, they were super busy. We were placed on the waiting list but luckily for us, we were called two minutes later with a table ready.<br/><br/>The menu is not at all extensive but definitely helped with quick decisions. Food is served in generous portions, and we were surprised that even plain toasties arrived as triple decker club sandwiches. I went for the Alexandre's French Toast which is golden fried french toast served with maple syrup, strawberries and a dusting of icing sugar. It arrived in a massive stack of the most delicious logs of french toast. They were moist without being oily and so so soft. Devoured every bit with drizzles of honey and a pot of tea!<br/><br/>We took so many photos after and the scenery is beyond beautiful! <br/><br/>If you're looking to venture out, definitely check out Paris in South Africa :-)
Nolene Du Preez
If you're looking for a little bit of Paris in the middle of your busy day just to unwind and have a coffee, French Toast is the place. <br/><br/>Make sure to try the chocolate croissants and the coffee collection. You can sip slowly on your coffee while staring at the statue of the Eiffel Tower.
Hitesh
Outstanding ambience, preferably sit out on a sunny day. Had a chicken hamburger. The chicken had a tandoori flavor. Enjoyed every bit of it. Location very nice. Good place to take overseas guest just make sure they haven't been to Eiffel tower :) Nyshaa Kriplani

This is a great place for beautiful pictures and a drive out of Jhb. The food here is really not that great, edible but not great. The service is also below average but definitely faster than the 2 hours we waited the first time we visited.

If you're looking for a quaint spot outside of Jozi to commit carbicide, this is the place. Nestled in the heart of Hartiwood, you might just be discovered as the next great Kyknet fillemstêr as you munch on some golden-good crunchy carbs. <br/><br/>As the name suggests, French toast is the primary component of most of the dishes on the menu, and who doesn't like French toast? Even Banting queens love French toast, they just try not to think about it. <br/><br/>We had the "BeesHaas" special. Directly translated as "beef bunny". Now, I've always been partial to a bit of "beefy bunny" myself, so this afternoon's feast was a definite hit with me. The steak and creamy blue cheese sauce was happily also a tasty tongue tickler. There's a largeish mockup of the Eiffel Tower near all the al fresco styled tables and chairs alongside a mini replica of the Harties dam itself, and I thoroughly enjoyed munching my food with an iconic phallic object in view. <br/><br/>This play-play Parisienne café was very sweet and so was the banana and peanut caramel sauce French toast dessert we had. Scrumptious! Highly recommend it. Whilst you're there you can also buy a heart-shaped lock and lock the love you share with your bae to the side-railing, or even one of the metal benches under the faux French metal erection. I didn't because then I would be locking myself into a singular state, and that would be a kak crazy thing for me to do, if I ever hope to find my future-blesser.<br/><br/>We sat eating in the lovely yellow sun and I couldn't have giggled more had I been stocktaking in a feather factory using only my armpits. My company John, Johann and Hendrik were on form and we enjoyed "scanning and printing" all the talent that came to attach their locks to the railings. <br/><br/>The place was also surprisingly cosmopolitan too, being so close to Brits. At times it felt like I was at a casting for a cultural diversity commercial. These quaint spots usually end up being as white as Wendywood. But this place was as colorful as a Pride flag. Fabulous!<br/><br/>The waiters were young, bright, bushy tailed and some were even quite Beulah. I think I found some real talent today in Hartiwood. Bon appetit! <br/><br/>

My boyfriend took me to French Toast over the weekend for a little adventure and we were not disappointed. The scenery was lovely and gives the place a really spectacular feel. You can sip tea and nibble on tasty treats whilst pretending you're in another world. Lock a love lock on the lock bridge and toss your keys in the fountain for a bit of fun. The food is really delicious. Everything you can make with french toast is on the menu and it comes to the table looking like a piece of artwork. It tastes divine too and is not badly priced with most items costing only between R65 and R80 its the perfext spot for a little retreat, to take mom, gran, and the kids. They also have non french toast options like croisants, salads and cheese boards. They have a kiddies menu too and the whole place lends itself to a family atmosphere while at the same time being incredibly romantic. We loved the experience and will deffinately be back soon.

Father's Day spent at French Toast Koffie Kafee. We decided to have lunch here as we were in Hartebeespoort for Sunday afternoon. We arrived at the Cafe at about 12. There was a hour waiting list. We took pictures at the mini Eiffel Tower and wandered around the little centre. We were seated at 1 and placed our orders. My dad was offered a complimentary sherry as we waited. It took another hour for our food to arrive. I must admit it was worth the wait. The fillet was the best steak I have eaten in a while. Service is slow but the food makes up for it. A lovely spot to head to that's just an hour's drive from Pretoria.
The Hungry Blonde
Really enjoyed coming here. <br/>Just stopes in for some coffee and cakes, however was so pleasantly surprised with how well the staff managed with the excessive amount of customers that were there. <br/>I don't think a table was open longer than two minutes before it was filled with patrons. <br/>The serving staff are very well mannered in well informed about items on the menu. <br/>Enjoyed coming here and will definitely be back soon!

Beautiful place.. like a little mini paris.. my boyfriend and i got a lock engraved to put on the bridge.. took some awesome pictures by the eiffel tower.. very romantic and food was very good.. value for money too!

Beautiful morning spent @ French Toast Koffie Kaffe..<br/>Enjoyed brunch and their famous French toast ...<br/>Good coffee and beautiful ambiance...<br/>Lovely vibe ... definitely worth the drive 🙌🏾👌🏻😍
Thabang Mabala
Lovely place to go to for a day outing. The service is not so good. We waited for our food for over 40 minutes while other people who found us there where served before us. It's a romantic place with an aquarium next to it. A breath of fresh air
Monique Barnard
Since I am a huge French enthusiast visiting this "Paris" in SA was a must for me! From the decor to the background music and the Eiffel Tower replica It was the perfect date with my boyfriend! The food was really tasty too, however i wish they had more variety of French pastries to take away just to give that extra 'je ne sais quoi' feel to a French café
Bhav
Cute little breakfast spot in Harties. Had the bacon, banana and french toast skewer. Service was good and the food was really delicious. The food didnt take too long to arrive and everybody enjoyed their meals. It does get really busy so its advised to go early. The mini eifel tower is justthe cutest. Do go and try!
TRICIA
Been here in 2 separate occasions.. Its beautiful and lush, however the waiting period is a drag, its better to make a reservation beforehand. The food is basically French toast but you excellent taste
Raquel De Canha
Definitely only worth the drive from JHB for the vibe and the pictures. The food was really not that great. I should have probably guessed from the name, but was not only expecting French toast to be on the menu. And really I only enjoyed the normal sweet French toast. All in all a lovely day trip to the dam
Caitlyn Thomson
Beautiful little place to have a meal. Very peaceful! We loved our food, it just took a bit long to get to us, but was worth the wait all together.
Jenni From The Block
A little bit of Paris in Harties. There was a 45 minute wait when we decided to pop in on a Sunday, but we kept busy walking around the faux Eiffel Tower, little boulangerie and the gift shop, all in the same centre. <br/><br/>The menu is all about french roast. The kids had the cinnamon french toast apple pies which were practically inhaled they were so good. My partner has the french toast skewers with bacon and banana, and finished it off with a peanut butter milkshake. My voice was the Camembert and cranberry french toast, yummy, but not incredible. <br/><br/>Over all we enjoyed the morning, service was attentive in a very busy setting. Lively and different meal out, great stop in this area.
Mona Makwakwa
Charming French restaurant in Haarties that serves lovely French cuisine. This restaurant is always buzzing and has a mini Eiffel Tower that's the main attraction when visiting the restaurant. Service and food are great. The management is impressively hands on👏🏽
Candice De Alcantara
Given the hype around French Toast Koffie Kafee, I have been trying to get there for ages. Though the setting & idea of the place is absolutely lovely, I think my expectations were a bit too high. <br/><br/>I tried to book a table but was advised that they do not take bookings (-1 point for this). So we stopped by on Family Day & being a public holiday we had to wait about 45min for a table. When we eventually got a table the service was slow (although our waiter was quite friendly). We waited nearly an hour for our food & they got both my husband's & my order wrong, so we had to send it back. When the food arrived for the second time it was ice cold. The French toast (which I had been waiting in anticipation for) was nothing amazing & the hollandaise sauce was very bland - overall the breakfast was a bit boring & slightly overpriced. <br/><br/>I would have given a lower score but luckily we were allowed to take our Bulldog puppies along & I appreciated this. <br/><br/>On another note, the chocolate croissants we bought at the little bakery next to the restaurant were absolutely divine.
T-ads
The food is absolutely terrible! All three meals were gross and the service is not great either. To drive to hearties and make the effort to go try and the food is horrible is a disappointment. They really need to up their game
Sarah Connolly
Super disappointed. We decided to have brunch and drove all the way to this restaurant. There was all this hype & we had to try a place that was so unique. <br/><br/>We ordered these French toast burger things and would have much preferred a Spur burger. The burger was bland, small and nothing exciting. The onion rings... there were 3 tiny and soggy rings that I didn't even eat they were disgusting. The side salad was leaves. The only good thing was the chocolate milkshake. Please don't bother going to this place & fall for the hype. The restaurant smells of stagnant water & ducks...
Tanya
After seeing much hype about this place on social media we decided to stop by after our morning at the elephant sanctuary. <br/><br/>As it was a fairly big group we did try book but were told they don't take bookings. <br/><br/>On a busy long weekend we were told on arrival that the wait would be about 45 min to an hour. With not much to do but wait we bought some biltong from pig n deli with some ice drinks and waited it out. Fortunately the wait was much shorter than anticipated. <br/><br/>A few choices were limited as they don't serve their breakfast items after 12. With this said there was still lots to chose from. With a few hungry tummies to feed the obvious and also most popular choice at the table was the fillet on french toast with mushroom sauce. <br/><br/>The fillet was done perfectly and is a generous piece. The hero of the dish, the french toast, was however dissapointing. Described as golden fried French toast was served as a lightly fried baguette laced with syrup. It was very average. <br/><br/>For a place named after the hero of all it's dishes i expected more. The French toast should blow you away and my dish failed to do so. <br/><br/>It was a pleasant enough experience in a quaint setting on a gorgeous autumn Saturday. <br/><br/>Fairly priced, cute enough decor a little on the citch side but fun non the less. <br/><br/>Worth a try but not anything to ride home about.
Katherine
I've often seen people posting photos of this cute French themed cafe of Facebook etc. so on our way to the aerial cableway in Harties we decided to stop for breakfast. The restaurant was full due to it being a public holiday but the service was decent and we didn't wait long for our food. I had the bacon and banana french toast and unfortunately I was quite disappointed when it arrived as it was not what I expected and was a bit of a rip off for the portion size. It was served as 3 skewers (which was described on the menu, but somehow I missed). If there was one whole piece of french toast chopped up in total it was a lot, it wasn't "eggy" the whole way through and it was cold. The banana was also uncooked. I would have preferred it grilled. The bacon was good, but again not much of it. Glad I finally saw what all the fuss was about but won't be rushing back.
Neil Hogg
This place is awesome. When we drove in I didn't expect much but when you're inside it feels like you just walked into a different country. The vibe is really awesome and a definite must see when visiting harties. The service was good, although it could be a bit better, but to be fair it was really busy. (You need to book in advance if you plan to get there after 9 am. The coffee, oh the coffee... The crema was perfect and the milk well frothed all making a great creamy cuppachino. We had the eggs Benedict with holidays sauce. I really enjoyed every part of the meal, especially their signature french toast that everything is presented on. We went outside afterwards for a short walk and that was just as cool, all in all a great experience!
Shivana Moethilalh
<br/>Food was great but service poor. Waiter gave bacon on a vegetarian dish and expected me to just take it off my plate when I am a vegetarian. My partner was Charged for substituting a cheese griller with bacon but not informed originally. The only thing nice was the food and vibe but overall service needs improving.
Mari
Food was great, everything has a twist on the old fashioned french toast. The setting is beautiful, a true escape. Unfortunately the level of service is disappointing. The waiter was inattentive and spilled food all over the table. We waited ages for our coffee and when it arrived it was cold. Unfortunately the service is inexcusable and impacts my view of this restaurant.
Hein Lubbe
Waited very long for service and waited even longer for our food. The French toast is not that good - certainly not enough to name the establishment after it. Don't allow that many customers if you are under staffed, simple as that. If you fill all the tables, you must be able to deliver quality within a reasonable time.
Masoodah Essop
This is the an amazing day trip date activity or girls day out. the ambiance is so warm and romantic. the manager was friendly and helpful. He knew that I could only eat halaal and helped us select items that suited my dietary requirements. the decor is awesome for photoshoot purposes👌🙌 I recommend the cinnamon and apple French toast.

Setting and food just awesome. While you wait for your table you can take a walk through to Eiffel tower or browse Deli and bakery. Just sit and relax
Candace Gloag
I've visited this sweet French themed restaurant twice now, once on a Saturday and once during the week. Although I've thoroughly enjoyed both sittings Saturdays are very busy.<br/><br/>The numerous variations of French toast are delightful but can take a while on busy mornings. Helpful service provides a pleasant distraction. The 'ladies' is well serviced, clean and tidy.<br/><br/>The deco gets a 5 from me. The Eiffel Tower and lock bridge are a hit. Authenticity is created by allowing patrons to engrave and add custom locks to the railings and benches. Ducks and peacocks roam freely entertaining kids and adults alike, creating a tranquil but fun environment. <br/><br/>I recommend trying the cheese platter for two as it offers wonderful value for money.
Rori
The atmosphere is amazing and the service is really great. My only criticism is the lack of variety for sides to accompany your dish of choice. My friend and I had a great time there.
Orielia Pria Egambaram
French Toast is tucked away in Hartebeespoort.<br/>The hype around this place is a bit exaggerated , however, the set up is really cute and well layed out.<br/>The restaurant itself isn't very large and they only take a maximum of 5 bookings per weekend. Thankfully our wait wasn't too long (around 15 minutes) and in this time we were able to take pictures. The mini Eiffel Tower and lock bridge are lovely features, especially since you can buy your own lock.<br/>I expected a bit more from the food. We had the salmon & scrambled egg croissant and the cinnamon apple infused french pie. The portions are not very large . Our waitress was quite lovely , and oh so pleasant.<br/>One thing to note, beware of the "ninja" ducks and peacocks . They will try to eat your food
Smelly Celly
Cute little French decor themed restaurant / café in Harties. The menu doesn't have any healthy options so don't come to eat here if that's your vibe. All the meals were also quite oily. A lot of people in our party had sausages wrapped in French toast. The Camembert French toast looked the best in my opinion. The food was very average, not amazing but not terrible either. They didn't have sparkling water which was a bit of a let down and the service wasn't very friendly. The decor and surrounds are really pleasant :) it's a worth a little visit if you haven't been before, but if I come again I'll just order drinks.
Matt Lubbe
Seriously terribly run reception and pathetic waiting service either take booking properly or have a first come first serve basis like all normal restaurants do I am standing here while you have ten empty tables but we must wait while you decide who is next and phone looking for your patrons absolutely pathetic
Alexa Scola
I expected something much more from the hype around this place. The decor is cute but the food is not so amazing.<br/><br/>Our eggs and French toast were cold and the staff not so friendly.
Ron Van Diermen
Ambiance was great.<br/>Service was lousy.<br/>Food was absolutely atrocious. I have yet to have French toast as dry, thick and bland as this restaurant. I needed water to try and get it down my throat.<br/><br/>I downloaded the zomato app for the sole purpose of warning you about this place.<br/>

Little Paris in JHB - a beautiful setting with unique sights to adventure into. The food is fresh, unique and delicious with very reasonable prices. Service is friendly and very attentive...the food does take a while to come out, but that is due to the made to order freshness - a true gem! Be willing to wait for a table when you arrive...but it will be worth the wait! Bon Appetite! #KevFabFood can highly recommend the sweet Cinnamon Infused Apple French Pie and the French Toast Burger is delicious and very filling and satisfying!

My friend kept telling me about French Toast late in the year so we decided soon as I got off work we are going. The atmosphere and ambiance is to die for. We took so many gorgeous pictures.they have a little eiffel tower and a bridge with benches that have locks you can engrave and leave there as a footnote. The food was rather a downer,it took long and the waiters are slow. Their milkshakes are yummy though the magnum death by chocolate. I would recommend this place for pictures and just drinks with friends.☺☺<br/>AMBIANCE 10/10<br/>IMMAGINATION10/10<br/>FOOD 3/10<br/>SERVICE 4/10

What a little gem! I had no idea French toast could be so delicious for lunch. <br/><br/>The food was great, the decor was cute, service was awesome.<br/><br/>Very busy so don't expect a seat when you get there.
Kineta Hari
From the food to the location to the setup to the service staff to the atmosphere... everything is perfect. The first time I visited the place with my other half and the second time I went with my family. Both times the food and service was perfect. However, the second time I visited the waiting period was 2 hours as it was a public holiday and it was busy. It was worth the wait as everyone enjoyed their meal and experience.
Kev
A little Paris in South Africa. Quaint place in hartebeesport. <br/><br/>We had :<br/>Tarte aux pommes a la cannelle avec crumble(Apple French toast)<br/><br/>Pain dore aux herbes de Provence(Herb infused French toast)<br/><br/>Both dishes were good. If you have a sweet tooth, the apple French toast will be worthy. Waited a bit to get a table, not the best table planning by the concierge, however , the wait have us time to site see.<br/><br/>Nice place overall. Will be back.
Fabiana
Such a cute little set up! Had a lovely lunch here with a great ambiance. The service was very slow and kitchen was backed up but other than that, once everything arrived, it was divine! Definitely will go again. What a great experience!
Moshibudi Mphahlele
Little Paris executed very well. French style set up, French music in the backround, French toast sweet and savoury dishes and ofcourse the love bridge and Eiffel Tower. Perfect place to visit for breakfast when in Harties. Really enjoyed my time there, service is great the waiters are really friendly. Very busy on Sundays, go on a Saturday
Janine Urwin
The food was really good and very well presented. We went in December and they were extremely busy so had to wait about an hour but that was not a problem as the setting of the whole place is pretty cool and there is lots to do while you wait. The food does take awhile to come out but it is well worth the wait. French Toast Koffie Kafee is an epic family outing.
Jade Soobramoney
We got there. Waited to be served. Lady was just standing there. Eventually she asked if we want a table. Then said we should sit outside. Waited again for someone to serve us. We would still be waiting .

We there to this place on a Saturday. They were very unorganised to the point where we had to ask for a table cloth for our table. They don't have healthy options - I had to settle for musli with with yoghurt which was a bad choice because it was full of sugar. My friends salad was full of sand and the menu was mostly afrikaaans and it had nothing to do with France from a food perspective

Been wanting to go here for a while now. Loved the ambience, friendly service and effort put into making it unique (photo booth, love locks, live music). Cappuccinos were very good. Ordered the eggs benedict (on french toast of course) and while the meal arrived with good presentation it was somewhat average and the french toast a bit on the dense/dry side. The veggie crisps were however a nice touch. That said it was a lovely, relaxed breakfast venue and I will be back to sample the menu further especially the milkshakes.

Decided to pop in for breakfast at French Toast and was quite disappointed... waited 20min for a table...after which people who came after myself with same number of people were seated first. Food took over 40mim to arrive and when it did my sisters sandwich was missing a main ingredient which they then informed they didn't have, asked the waiter for bottled water more than 3 times eventually gave up. Asked for salad dressing 3 times eventually gave up. Not a great experience at all.

This place has been calling my name from earlier this year. I finally got to Haarties for a weekend getaway and made a reservation for brunch. They stop taking reservations at 10am. <br/>The setting is quaint and draws you in immediately. This restaurant transports you to another city in seconds. Once seated you forget ur in haarties. <br/>The music to the menu to the massive eiffeil tower in front of you. I've never seen such a well themed restuarant done so tastefully. In keeping with the name, all menu items include yes, French toast. Even the burgers! <br/>We tried various breakfasts and a salad. Also a kiddies meal - pigs in a french toast blanket. The menu and scenery is nothing short of charming! <br/>The food however took about an hour to arrive which would not have minded seeing as they were busy. But what got my dining party annoyed is that various tables that arrived after us got their meals! This made a huge difference as we were starving and am definitely marking them down 4 that.<br/>Decor and ambience - 8/10<br/>Food -6/10<br/>Imagination - 10/10
Not A Foodie. An Eater
Waited 30 minutes to get a seat, which is understandable because they were really busy. Waited almost an hour just to receive cold breakfast. Had to ask another waiter to enquire in the kitchen. Disappointed.

Such an amazing place at the harties dam. A little French inspired cafè with great food. Their burgers are amazing <br/><br/> The setting whisks u away to Paris as the have a mini version of the effile tower.<br/><br/>Makes your booking early as this place is super busy

The perfect spot for a breakfast out of the city! The setting is something you don't find everywhere and the atmosphere is so relaxed. We enjoyed the french toast with camembert and berries - mouthwatering! Planning to go back for more - soon!

Love this French inspired deli, everything on the menu is French whether it's sweet or savoury. This place is a perfect stop on the drive into Haarties!<br/><br/>I had the veg tramazini, and hubby had the chicken one.<br/><br/>Food does take time to arrive and we had to<br/>Wait for a table, be sure to arrive early for a table.<br/><br/>The views are beautiful with the Eiffel Tower backdrop, there very own mini tower. There lots of ducks around the pond, many children around. Very child friendly.

Been waiting for months to get a chance To come here after some amazing reviews from my friends. Am very disappointed the food was not as my friends made it to be. I had the burger for must say zero flavor. It was dry and some more that necessary amount of cheese, Based on my experience I would even recommend Steers as a better option. On the positive the environment is superb, great service from the waiters and design and decor is top notch. Maybe I tried it for lunch when all reviews were about breakfast.

Really great spot for Sunday breakfast. We had yummy cuppochinos accompanied with French Toast (it was a must) and we also tried the French Toast burger, which was different but really good. The French Toast was nice but would have preferred it to be hot, freshly made. Atmosphere was really nice with awesome french music in the background and very clean outside area. We had a wonderful friendly waiter. Would love to try the rest of the menu. 😊

We did a Sunday breakfast run to the quirky little spot in hartebeespoortdam. The venue formed part of the movie set and was in fact named after the movie. <br/><br/>Breakfasts were amazing with the star of the menu being of course French toast...<br/><br/>Coffee is always good and we sort of went overboard with the fresh cream capachinos. I also tried the peanut butter milkshake which is also a winner.<br/><br/>Definitely add French toast onto any visit to the area...<br/><br/>

This is a quirky eatery in the French style. Tables are outside under the trees with a view of the model Eiffel Tower (which was built as part of a set for the filming of the local South African movie French Toast after which the restaurant is named). Beautiful ducks roam freely and are not shy to ask for tit bits with their beaks!! Adding to the atmosphere was a lady playing French music on a piano accordion. We happily added some money to her tip bowl.<br/><br/>All the items on the menu, both sweet and savoury, involve french toast in some form or another. The food is presented well, tasty and reasonably priced and they serve decent wine by the glass. we shall definitely return.

Heaven Heaven Heaven! 😍 service is a bit slow but the staff is wonderful and this is a super cute cafè. I'm obsessed with everything about it, the whole Paris theme and delicious food ... We even took extra take aways 😢 if you're around Harties, do give this cafe a try.

I love love love this place! It's awesome for a nice Sunday drive out to Harties, away from the bustle of the city for a yummy breakfast. We sat outside in the warm sun right by the Eiffel Tower set. There were kids feeding ducks, people taking photos all over and partners putting their personalised locks on the bridge and throwing the key into the water. All of this while a lady in authentic French attire walked around playing harmonious tuned on her accordion. <br/>The detail in the decor is exquisite! <br/><br/>Other than the amazing atmosphere the food was superb. I had a tough time choosing a meal because every dish being served around us looked delicious. We opted for the eggs Benedict- Divine! Copious amounts of bacon and smothered in hollandaise sauce. <br/>Then we tried the banana and peanut butter French toast- perfect for a sweet tooth. <br/><br/>There is so many beautiful things to look at, fun things to do and delicious food to try. I will definitely go back for the break away from the norm.

Visited as a family of five. Service was fine but food was cold and generally we could make better versions of the dishes at home. Atmosphere was lukewarm at best, and won't be rushing back. Nice decor though!

Visited recently with a group of 6 for breakfast. There was a 40 minute wait due to the popularity of the restaurant but time went by quickly while we hung out by the fake Eiffel Tower and took pics. It was a lovely atmosphere with a bunch of other people doing the same, and adding locks to the "love lock" bridge. Engraving is also done there. <br/><br/>I had the French toast with cream cheese mousse and berry compote. I couldn't find any fault with it. Absolutely delicious! I suspect it's going to be the only thing I order when I come back. And yes, I plan to take all my friends and family back here! Apart from the noisy kids trying to feed and chase the ducks, we had a lovely time. Highly recommended. Worth the wait.

Service could use a boost but the food is quite different and tasty - if the service was better it'd be a far better experience. All in all a different and unique breakfast. Give it a bash, it might just be an off day. Also, book before you go.Tania De Boer

I seem to be loosing the restaurant lottery this weekend...<br/>Having seen a multitude of great reviews I decided to make the drive out to Hartebeesport to try French Toast...<br/>Initial service was great and to give them credit they have a an amazing setting.<br/>But then the wheels fell off...<br/>Coffees were good but took forever to arrive.<br/>I was able to comfortably have 2 coffees<br/> Before our food arrived which was not worth commenting on.<br/>Lumpy Holondase sauce... French toast bearly saw the egg mixture, there was a clear white bread line in the middle<br/><br/>All I'm going to say is its not worth the stop.<br/>
Christian Nenkov
A picturesque, quaint little place that seems very popular as there were hundreds of people coming and going. There is a miniature Eiffel Tower and a fence were thousands of "love locks" have been attached.<br/>The food was fresh and tasty with the menu inspired mainly by french toast of all varieties. (Sweet and Savoury) The pastries we took home were all delicious! Worth a visit but expect to wait for a table on a holiday or weekend.

French Toast is a very stunning place , the setting of the entire restaurant makes you feel as though you are in another country . <br/>The menu doesn't have much options for vegetarians, for those who eat eggs -the French toast is an excellent option , the flavors of the strawberry and syrup compliment each other together with the crips French toast .<br/>Their toasted sandwiches are average. <br/>The service is average and the food takes a while to come. <br/>

This little French gem actually deserves a 10!!!!!  What a stunning little place.  Service is excellent, absolutely love love the decor and the food is different and really good!<br/><br/>Sunday we arrived there after 10.  It was a bit chilly, so we sat inside.  There are 2 areas inside ... one is decorated with burgundy walls and candelabra ... the other one is rustic with music instruments on shelves.  Every table has a small Eiffel tower.  Our timing was perfect, because 30 minutes later people were queuing for tables!<br/><br/>Coffee is delicious and comes with a small biscotti.  I chose the Brochette de pain doré, bacon et banane - (Bacon & Banana skewer. ) My goodness, it was absolutely divine!!!!  3 Skewers with cubed French toast, firm bananas and yum bacon.  It was served with vegetable crisps (hmmmmmm) and of course, a small container with syrup!  I really enjoyed it.<br/><br/>Hein had the Pain grillé au filet de bœuf et confiture d’oignons (beeshaas (fillet) on French toast, with onion marmalade, creamy blue cheese sauce and a small side salad.  It was over R100, but the fillet was cooked medium and there was quite a portion.<br/><br/>Looking at the other tables' dishes, I really want to sample more from the menu!  And of course, I have to come back for dessert!<br/><br/>Outside there are quite a few tables and a big Eiffel Tower.  Ducks walk through the tables and there are fences where you can hang a lock ... you buy one (or bring your own) and there's a table where you can then inscribe your lock.... then you hang it on the fence.

We tried French toast out with some reservation because of comments about their slow service but we were not disappointed - good service, great food in a beautiful setting! <br/>We ended off our visit with a brilliant photo shoot at the studio next door - what fun!! <br/>Highly recommend this for a memorable outing

This is such a pretty spot to spend the afternoon and soak in some sun. Have been here on more than one occasion and always gravitate back when driving through Harties. The baked cheese cake is an absolute must-try!
Samantha Bekker
This is such a fun quaint place to go visit. They have made everything looks very pretty and its more of a bit of an experience than just a meal. They have the love locket bridge, the mini Eiffel tower and a couple of ducks and chickens roaming around and a few others things to do. The feel really is classic French Cafe, they have paid great details to all the little decor elements. The menu has a good selection of items to pick from. Our food was delicious, the portion size was acceptable. We had a trainee waiter, so that really slowed things down and our food and drinks took ages. They did get very busy and you need to wait for a table.

Such a quaint little spot. The food was good. It gets very busy so go early or expect a wait. Enjoy crispy and light French toast with yummy French toast. Lovely for a Sunday morning trip to Harties.

Disgusting service. We waited for over an hour for our food and had the most unenthusiastic waitress who looked bored the whole time. We ended up walking out. No thanks. Never again. The lady who books the tables was lovely though. At least they got one thing right.

Wow what a beautiful place. Very romantic and such stunning view of a replica Eiffel tower. A must for a nice surprise romantic date.. Unfortunately the food is a bit disappointing. Very bland and tasteless looks stunning but tastes super average. Milkshakes however are freaken amazing! Especially the magnum milkshake! Definitely worth the visit..

You must love eggs when you visit this Parisian restaurant. The menu has very few options for anyone that doesn't want an egg option. I would have liked a fresher croissant when eating here on a Friday morning. The decor and setting was really great.

We decided for a drive out to Hartees for the day and we had heard so much about this place. Date: Friday 27/05.  <br/>On arriving the surrounding area is not to pleasant but once you drive in to the parking, you see a few run down buildings and the aquarium. But once you park up, you will be pleasantly surpised. The trees have the French flag wrapped around the trees, frech music playing in the background. Then you walk around the building to find a quaint outside seating area with a mini Eiffel tower and a bridge to put your padlocks on (your secrets) the bushy area really makes you feel secluded and nowhere near the outside world. We wanted to try the savoury and the sweet. So for starters both of us had the benedict. Comes on French toast. love the idea and concept. When it arrived, I did however find the hollandaise sauce a little bland, and the French toast was ok. After this we had 2 different sweets. My wife had the berrie et frommage and I had the Banana carmaliese. while both where tasty, they lacked something, not really sweet at all. But with the surroundings, it is a must try.<br/>Atmosphere 5/5, Service 3.5/5, Food 3.5/5, Cleanliness 4/5. Would I go back? Yes I would just to be able to enjoy some coffee and relaxation in great surroundings and great music.<br/>overall

Beautiful Views, Good Coffee and Delicious French Toast - what more could you ask for?! This place is definitely worth the visit! I felt as if I were in Paris again with the mini Eiffel Tower, lock bridge, fountain and ducks walking around😍 Whether you want to go on a romantic date or take the kids on a day adventure - this place suits the whole family! The actual Resturant inside is also beautiful and there is a great relaxed vibe whether you sit outside or inside in the gallery. <br/>Although the menu is small, there is a nice variety of breakfasts, sweet and savory dishes! The French toast itself is really fluffy and delicious and I will definitely be going back for more! For the health conscious people, they also have a selection of salads and sandwiches. I found the portions somewhat small (but least there is always space for dessert😜)<br/>Also, be prepared to wait for a table as they don't take bookings. However, there is an aquarium right next door which you can visit whilst you wait for your table!! This is a win win!!😄

Really great little restaurant, food was good and the feeling of the place was great, can't believe the amount of people that wanted to get in there! The waiters could be a little more friendly and helpful though!

The venue is really nice and they have gone out of their way to create a Parisian themed restaurant. Service was excellent and the waiter was on point. I had the croissant with scrambled egg and smoked salmon. For a Parisian themed restaurant, it was disappointing to have a day old croissant. I...

A bitter disappointment of a restaurant coffee shop spoiled by extremely poor customer service. From onset the hostess was not welcoming which I believe sets the tone of the restaurant. You get told leave your number and will get back to you when a table is ready without offering an interim seating or offer guests to stroll around the Eiffel Tower replica. You left thinking should you be waiting or should you leave. Anyways it was 10 min before a table was set but no menus were offered to us instead it lay under another table setting Eiffel Tower. A quick glance at other patrons seated at a table revealed that the patrons were offered the menus. After checking what we wanted the waiters took forever to come through. Ordered crossiant sandwiches which should be a staple in a French themed restaurant but the crossiant was as if it was baked last year with a rather soft consistency. Anyways a crossiant sandwich from garage Deli would have been better. <br/>In short does not at all live up to any expectation you may have conjured up as this was an extremely poor attempt of a French themed coffee shop. What a worthless drive to Haartees.

Very very cute surroundings. So well thought out. Everything is French toast and oh so delicious. I chose the cambert option French toast. A definite must when in hartebeespoort.

It was a long weekend and P and I decided to go for a little road trip. We heard about the French toast coffee place and thought to give it a try. Well it was a public holiday, so maybe it wasn't a good idea to go there on such a day but I must admit that it was an experience. The cafe place home to one of the local movies that the owner produced. Everything had a French flair to it, taster and unique. The owner was really pleasant and actually listened to us about how P had a fascination for the Eiffel Tower ( they have a miniature version), truly a romantic experience.. so if there is any guy that wants to take his girl out, try this place. The food was unique, I had a French toast Burger which was beefy and xMe with all the tasty trimmings. P had a croissant with salmon (apparently everything is scratch made from the bread to the croissants). So try the place you won't regret it... PS just be patient as they are really busy
Cari
A really nice concept but we were disappointed with the service. We had to wait a while for the food and when we eventually got our order we found the food average...nothing to rave about. What we did enjoy was the Magnum milkshake!

45min drive from Joburg , wanted to visit the French Africa tower, specially made for a movie called French Toast. After having lunch we walked to the aquarium around the restaurant. Most meals there on the menu has included Toast even their desert is toasted with ice cream and syrup etc ,we ordered a hotdog and burger dish, the Sausage is wrapped with a toast instead of hotdog roll,Service was good but a bit of a wait, very busy on the Sunday morning..

Drove out from Sandton for Sunday breakfast. When we got there the meet and greet lady asked me how many people were in our party. I replied 8 and then she proceeded to go off at me that unless we had booked we would have to sit and wait for a table for 40 minutes and then proceeded to be just rude stating that this was not her fault and we should have booked. The manager heard this and very nicely came to sort it out. We waited 30 minutes for a table and then had a very friendly waitress who took our order very efficiently. Drinks came out really quickly and then we waited an hour for the food.<br/>The food was lovely but I certainly would not drive all the way out there again for the front ladies attitude and the long wait. There are definitely better places to go in Parkhurst and Sandton..
Melissa Claassens
Had a lovely lunch with good service at the little movie set restaurant. Food was delicious, all choices on the menu includes french toast, very enjoyable and different. Nice ambiance, enjoy

Having heard such wonderful things about this restaurant, we decided to give it a try. Signage is very sparse and unless you know what you are looking for you miss the turn ( which we did). <br/>After waiting about 45 minutes we eventually did get a table. The wait was long and the service from the waitron was unacceptable. We had to repeat our order numerously, eventually just pointing out what we wanted on the menu. The food was magnificent. And this is their saving grace. When ordering desert, we had the same problem of the waitron not understanding/hearing us. A good 15 minutes later we get told that one of our requests is out of stock. <br/><br/>Such a pretty venue, such amazing food -such terrible service. Wenchy

Came out to Harties on Sunday morning for a breakfast. This is a really lovely setting. Pitty that the food and service was a let down. Our waiter was super friendly but we did wait for over an hour for our 3 plates of food. When our breakfasts arrived I was quite disappointed. For a restaurant that specializes in French toast, the French toast was cold and dry and hardly seemed to be dipped in much egg at all. I ordered the herbed French toast which just had a bit of parsley sprinkled on top. The Camembert cheese with my Dad's breakfast was really generous and delicious though and the coffee here is really good.
Stuart McClarty
Sunday morning and the restaurant is heaving with families all looking for breakfast. The coffee arrived quickly and was great. The food is tasty, but i have the feeling that it would be better on a quieter day. I definitely need to come here during the week to try it again. Bring a lock and make a promise to your loved one as you secure it to the bridge, tossing the key into the river

If you are looking for a romantic vibe this is definitely the place to go.<br/><br/>French Toast was originally a movie set and is now a restaurant. Ofcourse expect a bread overload as it is French Toast Café. There are various choices both savoury and sweet with French toast, as well as salads, croissants and milkshakes to die for.<br/><br/>There are ample seating areas both outside and inside the restaurant. You can only book a table for breakfast and after is on a first come first served basis. Expect beautiful French music, mini Eiffel towers on the tables, beautiful quirky French décor, a love bridge as well as a massive Eiffel tower which is great for photo opportunities. <br/><br/>Even though we didn’t book a table there was ample seating areas and got a really great table for a group of six. It was a scorcher of a day and the waiter moved over more umbrellas to our table. <br/><br/>I ordered the Filet de confiture d’oignons, which was fillet, red onion marmalade and a blue cheese sauce on a golden French toast well two French toast, which was a huge portion and so delish. It was a marrying of different flavours which worked out amazing. Others at the table ordered the croissant which was massive and the French toast with Camembert, the peanut butter milkshake is also a winner. The food is absolutely divine. After seeing my photos, friends thought I was in France hehe and P.S. don’t forget to take a lock and key to seal your love at the love bridge.

BREAD GALORE HOUSE!! I must say the only reason I drove to the restaurant/ coffee shop was because of how the place was sold to me…if you love bread, you'll love the food. The place has a lot of potential however there's a serious need for a really good chef!

French Toast<br/><br/>Since this was originally the movie set for French Toast and then, instead of breaking down the set after the production, it was decided to turn it into a French Café so we came here with big expectations.<br/><br/>Upon walking in, the French Café vibe is immediately created with French music playing, people sitting outside and French decor.<br/><br/>We were seated at the back and we decided to start with breakfast. The service was incredibly slow (at the back of the cafe) and you struggled to get attention from the waiters. The breakfast was tasty and using their own French loaves. All bread served with breakfast is French toast.<br/><br/>We moved to the front of the cafe to meet up with a few other friends. The service here were better and we were more visible. Here we ordered Cafe Latté and Cappuccinos. Both great options! We also ordered baked cheesecake but it was a huge let down when they brought a very small piece of cake and a huge ice cream heart (which we did not ask for) but apparently their cheesecake were not ready to be served. I would suggest that management ask guests what they would like for a substitute should they not be able to provide the correct order instead of presenting something you might not like or wanted at all. <br/>They are also a little overpriced in my opinion.<br/><br/>There is a live musician as well walking around and playing French music on the accordion which created a great atmosphere. There is also a vintage photo booth available where you can have your photo taken and printed at additional costs.<br/><br/>There is an Eiffel Tower with a Love Bridge and this can be a great attraction for many but the cafe and it's service needs work.<br/><br/>Locals suggest to visit this cafe in the week in the middle of the month when it is not so busy because then you will be able to enjoy your experience more.

High expectations popping in here. Called 10 minutes ahead and were seated as soon as we arrived which is great. Awesome atmosphere, very scenic. The menu looked good and presentation was attractive. A long wait for the food which we hoped would be worthwhile but were unfortunately disappointed. Still, I'm glad I've been.
Carly Sutton
Quaint venue but it needs a lot of work. Expect to wait to get a table and confusion over tables available. Coffee inconsistent from very weak to boiling hot and strong. French toast needs work and the "hollandaise" sauce is a gungy yellow lemons mess. Poach eggs are made out of poaching cups and they served rotten banana on the one dish. Only things they have going for them is the venue Kirsten Gibson

Granted we waited for a bit, the quiet Tuesday afternoon was totally worth the wait. Come heat and all, all the french toast meals we orded were so worth it and the thick creamy milkshakes were just mouth watering. A little bit of Paris in Harties who is complaining 😊 definitely not me!
Yolisa
Went to this restaurant for Valentines, well purely because of the Iefel tower and the way the restaurant looked so romantic on pictures. We ordered the same thing * boring I know* but I really felt like something meaty and the hamburger was the only real meaty option. So everything is made from frenchtoast thus the name. The burger was very simple but the petty and frenchtoast made it really good. Its something I would like to eat again. The service was good! Definitely worth the drive for a quiet gateway with good food.

Food love hit the next level this weekend with this syrup-lathered French toast stack 🍓🍴🇫🇷<br/>If you're up for a little road trip, a taste of Paris and some entertainment, head out to French Toast café in Hartebeespoort. <br/>French music played live, an Eiffel Tower and lock bridge... Valentine's Day was a good one thanks to this cute spot. Definitely worth it. <br/>And the peanut butter milkshake? A lovely Parisian gem in the heart of Hartbeespoort.. Delicious different take on traditional meals & amazingly decadent desserts! The double thick milkshakes are mouthwatering! Worth a drive!

Extremely poor service. Came for a late breakfast, the restaurant was not full. Took 30 minutes to get a cup of coffee and and hour to get breakfast. When it eventually came it was ice cold. Manager on duty didn't even apologise, neither did the waiter. Not worth the drive. I won't be returning.

The Place and setting itself is lovely. Is a 45 min odd drive from Joburg. <br/><br/>The setting was beautiful, I know this because there was was a 45min wait to be seated, and then once we were seated we had to wait another 1 hr 30 mins for our food to arrive, when it did arrive I actually had to go find cutlery myself, the food looked amazing but my one friend who has the Eggs Benedict said the sauce tasted like custard and had curdled. <br/>However the French toast was amazing, so at least they live up to their name sake.
Abdullah Mahamed
French toast Koffie Kafee based on the movie French toast..<br/><br/>Been here a few times before and have to say it's quite impressive. I guess people just come here for the French atmosphere and the Eiffel tower..<br/><br/>Today the service was terrible. From waiting for food, the drinks and the bill. Honestly it seemed like one waiter running around and doing everything. I had the hot chocolate which was served warm. My sister had the Cappuccino which was good 👌<br/><br/>For breakfast the eggs Benedict was the choice but very disappointing. The hollandaise sauce was just not nice at all and the French toast was a bit soggy 😕.<br/><br/>All in all for the atmosphere and ducks running around and the whole French theme It compromised for the bad service..<br/><br/>Food - not so much.<br/>Atmosphere - amazing<br/>French 🗼

When I found out most meals are actually made with French toast I was a bit skeptical but food turned out great. Definitely a must visit if you in the area. Love the mini Paris theme and the service was great.

Went there on the 29th of December 2015 and did not make a reservations for 9 people. Was received with open arms and accomodated the 3 little ones which was a plus ! Service was great and manager is very friendly and helpful. Food WAS "lekker" and worth the wait.<br/>Will recommend to book beforehand as by 11:30am there was people waiting to be seated outside thus recommend to the manager to place more tables at the cinema area + extra umbrellas<br/>

Went to this tucked away piece of "Paris" wasn't too bad, the food was tasty. Had the fillet on French toast, was a very good size portion. The wait is long but it is worth it... The Eiffel Tower and ducks set a very chilled atmosphere! All in all a good outing...

Where to start? Mere words can not explain my utter disappointment and dissatisfaction that I experienced with French toast. I purposely waited a whole week before rating our experience to see if I could calm myself and perhaps see a little sliver of light but alas, nothing. Not one single good experience. <br/><br/>We recieved what is definitely the worst service we have ever had and this is no exaggeration. I realy mean the worst service. We arived and were promptly shown to our table... and that is the last time we actualy saw a waiter. After a long wait I finally gave up and flagged down another waiter to place a drinks order. After a 15 min wait we recieved our drinks. The wait would have been acceptable if the restaurant was full but it was far from it. <br/><br/>Not wanting to take the chance in another disappearing act by our waitress, we ordered our meal. A simpl, straight forward Eggs Benedict. We waited again, this time an hour passed before we saw our waitress again. Eventually she came around and announced that our food was ready and that the kitchen is busy finnishing up the plating. Another 20 minutes passed and eventually our food arrived. <br/><br/>Now, how can I explain this politely. They used plating as an excuse for the delay in the food. But there was absolutely no sign of dignified plating. It was a heap of something that kind of resembled food on a plate. My description sounds harsh and perhaps unfair, but trust me. It isn't. And the taste was even worse. <br/><br/>My eggs were ordered soft, and surprise surprise, it arrived hard. So, the meal consisted of dry french toast with these very hard poached eggs with this flavourless yellow sauce ontop. I had to add about half the slat in the sal pot just to make it taste like something.<br/><br/>After our terrible meal we ordered coffee. I have to say that by this point I was expecting the coffee to be bad as well, and I was right. The coffee was burnt so badly that I left it after the first sip. My wife wanted to attempt to finnish her coffee, but she requested sugar to soften the burnt taste. We waited and waited and no sugar. We asked another waiter and after waiting again I eventually got up and fetched the sugar myself but not even the sugar helped so we both abandoned our coffee. <br/><br/>I really believe that if you have had a bad experience at a restaurant, you need to give them a second chance as everyone has an off day. But one thing is for sure, French toast will never see me or any of my friends or family again.

A "been there, done that" kind of place. More a novelty than anything else.<br/>Extremely busy and therefore the service is lacking and not very attentive and a long wait for your food which is nice but nothing mind blowing or worth going back for.

I was looking forward to a nice Sunday French toast breakfast, but I was VERY disappointed. Our drinks took about 20 min and our food almost an hour. I ordered french toast with cream cheese and berry compote. The cream cheese was doused in sugar and so grainy that it felt that I was eating sand. It was so overwhelmingly sweet I could not even finish 1 of the 3 slices.

The gang came here for breakfast after they wedding dress fitting of the bride to be. <br/><br/>It was peak breakfast time and there was nary a table in sight. However the hostess managed to secure us a table on the outside close to the Eiffiel Tower replica. <br/><br/>Service was unfortunately on the slow side for the whole duration of our meal. <br/><br/>Eventually our waiter did arrive and we placed our drinks and food order. <br/><br/>I had the eggs Benedict and the waiter asked me for the doneness of our eggs. I asked for mine to be soft to medium. <br/><br/>Our coffee arrived quite soon but the food took a little longer. Soon when it arrived we were all ravenous.<br/><br/>My eggs unfortunately was done one doneness too much., i.e. it was medium hard. The hollandaise sauce tasted a tad sweet and not what one is used to for Hollandaise sauce which is buttery, touch of lemon and seasoning, which is more savory. Thus, the whole dish turned out to be quite "sweet" then savory. <br/><br/>Out waiters tended to be MIA a lot of the time so we had to catch the attention of other waiters for service. <br/><br/>A pleasant venue but let down by the service and the somewhat average good quality.

I've always been a dreamer who is searching for places that's something else. If you have never been to Paris, this place may hive you a taste of how it is in France. The waiters are all dressed in suits and the service is excellent. I love this place, because everything on the menus is served with French toast. The way this restaurant took boring French toast and made it interesting, is amazing. I had the French toast Burger and it was one of the best breakfasts I had in a while. The vibe is so relaxed especially if you sit outside under the trees. You can even take a picture of you in front of a mini Iffel Tower. If you are in the mood for a fun day out, I would definitely recommend this place.

I love coming through to the café. <br/>Polite staff, amazing milktart - I am amazed by how they incorporate local bakers and students to keep this place going. <br/><br/>There is beauty in local small business.

Unexpected surprise! It's a taste a France with a South African twist. It's in a beautiful location and the food is amazing. We wanted to do something different and new and this was the best place. The service is slow but it makes you enjoy the people you are with. They're french toast burgers and peanut butter milkshakes are the best, it's a must try.

So pleased with experience my best friend and I had at French Toast. After a long drive from Limpopo on the hottest day this past week, we stumbled upon the French Toast. I kicked off with a delicious chocolate milkshake and followed up with a fillet on French Toast. The bread was fresh and the fillet was tender. Accompanied by a smooth white sauce and diced peppers for texture. Very reminiscent of Le Petit Panin in Knysna. Love the setting! Love the speedy service! Love the food!

The food is tasty but not worth 5 stars. I did enjoy the uniqueness of the menu, French toasty and all. The service was really good and friendly! <br/>And of course the setting and decoration is what makes it such a special place.<br/>Save this place for a first date 💃🏼

Unfortunately the food and atmosphere was great but what made the experience extremely bad was when found a hair in our food. How is this possible!!!!!<br/>

People ranted and raved about this café, so I decided to visit this little piece of France and how dissapointed I was. <br/>Ill admit that the atmosphere was awesome but the biggest let down was the food and the service . I had a toasted chicken mayo, which can't be described as that. The bread was toasted and the filling was ice cold with a sort of chicken mince. My appetite dissapeared. To top off my bad experience the service was poor and uneducated as they didn't even know what balsamic vinegar was. <br/>I left hungry and quite disgusted by how people only rate a café by the ambience.<br/>Maybe I ordered the wrong meal and the waiters had a bad day, but all I know is I am not going back to find out.

This French Parisian themed restaurant is the perfect choice for a Sunday if you're looking for elegant and fun at the same time. The mock Eiffel Tower adds image and character to make the cafe authentic. The menu has a selection of different foods to choose from and the sweet French toast is always a hit.

What an experience! This was a fun day out with friends, although we waited 30min for a table, this french toast breakfast burger was delicious! The atmosphere is incredible, if you want to get out of town for a fun day out, and enjoy good food this is the place to be👍

Going to have to rate this in the low side. Has some charm and character but needs some attention. <br/>Will say the French toast comes out looking like a perfectly landscaped treat. <br/>Cappuccino was watery and scolding hot. <br/>

Passing through Hartebeespoort we were looking for a place for breakfast. Came across French Toast Koffie Kaffee and what we found was an absolute hidden gem!! Wonderful ambience and a beautiful setting!

Early Sunday morning breakfast with friends, what a great way to start a relaxing Sunday!! Beer is cold, food is great and the setting is beautiful. Friendly service all round makes for a perfect breakfast and a great morning out.

Beautiful setting and lovely for a day out. Service was extremely slow and 30 mins after ordering our dessert we were told the brownie ordered wouldn't soften???? The french toast with the breakfast was also cold. The table behind us left and the table was left with empty glasses etc. for over 40 mins. The waiter also held on to my change in the hope of it being his tip. 😡Lovely venue but would recommend as a coffee stop.

This was the Bar that was a built for a South African film set and has now been opened as a little coffee shop/restaurant. <br/><br/>Being in a miniature Paris is the middle of Harties is a treat on its own. The dishes are super unique - French toast everything! The menu does state that they takes a while to prepare to the food - thanks for the heads up :) the waiters are very friendly and you are made to feel very comfortable - brunch in your back yard comfy! <br/><br/>I am the biggest French toast fan and when properly prepared French toast needs to be soggy is the middle. They did get this right on our French toast burger and it was absolutely delicious. The bacon and banana French toast however was quite dry but none the less very tasty. We can't wait to come back and taste more from the menu!<br/><br/>Ps - the chocolate milkshake was one of the milkshakes I have ever had!

Service is a bit slow. Excellent coffee. Most of the menu has French toast. I had the Camembert French Toast which was really nice. Great atmosphere and Eiffel Tower replica outside.

The French Toast Koffie Kafee was built as the official ‘Bar’ for a movie being filmed there and as such, it is a little piece of Paris sitting right in the middle of Hartbeespoort. <br/><br/>After having been in Paris earlier this year, I was fairly sad this past weekend to be served their cheese platter with over-whelmingly stale bread on both boards. <br/><br/>The combination of French and Afrikaans influence here is an interesting mix but what an experience to see the venue and mini-Eiffel tower, even if it is just to stop by for a drink and to attach a lock to its fence. <br/><br/>*Recommendation: On weekends, waiting lists are fairly lengthy so I would arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Really enjoyed this restaurant, awesome food enjoyed the fact everything comes on French toast super unique. Book if you want to go on a weekend, we didn't book but got a table after a cup of coffee at the bar.

The decor and friendliness at the door made us excited. But young waiters standing around more concern about chatting, than serving, spoiled our breakfast. Toasted sandwich needed water to go down, but bacon skewer with banana was really good. Unfortunately, won't go back.

After excitedly trying the place on opening day (anything new in Harties is a treat) and being offered inattentive, slow service and having to wait an hour and a half for our food to arrive (at different times), we gave it a good few months to get its act together. Sadly, despite the cute scenery around and clear investment, the service and food were still really slow and lacklustre. Management's solution is to offer a free (cold) cappucino (since the time it takes to get to you is clearly a good while after it's been made). English is also apparently not well understood or spoken, so perhaps we would have had a better experience if we spoke Afrikaans. Won't be going back.

Good food, very attentive and friendly manager. Something different. The food takes relatively long but it's clearly freshly made; the proof is in the pudding. 😋<br/><br/>Will definitely be back.
Guillaume Ducray
Great place, book ahead on weekends as it gets busy and there's a waiting list. Food was good, the service was excellent from our waiter. Will be back.

Nice setting and something a bit different. We had breakfast there and had two french-toast based dishes, both of which were quite tasty and really well presented. But to be honest the vibe and faux-french feel really makes the venue. Having coffee outside between the trees while people take "tourist" photos by the replica Eiffel tower is really good value. Remember to book if you desire to sit inside.

Oh dear, the service is somewhat slow... The food and drinks were served cold. There was a live musician that had to compete with music that played over speakers in the background, it was a little disturbing. The venue has potential if these hiccups can be sorted out.
Juanita Hawley
An absolute must even if only for the ambiance and stunning setting. The food was amazing with generous portions and a relaxed atmosphere! We had a lovely afternoon.

Everywhere I went in Hartbeespoort people asked me if I had been to French Toast yet. It has a reputation after being used as a set in a South African movie that I hadn't heard of before. The setting is quite beautiful and their is a pond out the side with a jetty. The waiters are professional yet laid back and you feel taken care of. Expect traditional cafe faire.
