Review Al Forno's - Gordon's Bay

We enjoyed our dinner at Al Forno's. The service was really lovely and attentive. My wife really enjoyed her pizza and I thought mine was okay, a tad dry. Pizzas are thin based. We sat outdoors while the sun was setting, which was really beautiful. Wine and pizza prices were quite reasonable.

Al Forno's serves some of the best pizza... Place was okay and outdoor seating as well. The waiter was friendly and gave awesome service. Chilled place and good for groups, family and draughts are tops. Great view of the Beach too and the vibe is awesome. Trendy crowd.

Great food with lots of options. Also has gluten free but ask before you sit down if you need. They didn’t have stock. Service was amazing and people are very friendly.

It was our first time at Al forno's, me my husband, youngest daughter and husband with their son and my other 2 grandchildren. We enjoyed our Food with Big Surprises to myself and everyone because the Food that we ordered, like the Pizzas, veggie bruchettas, burgers, Calamari and chips hake, Calamari & salad and a dip sauce that was so delicious. Really we will go Defnitely go back there because the waiter and the one who did stand at the door when we entered was so Polite, Sincere and Helpfull. Service was Xcellent only thing was that I did wait for my Starter because they forgot about it so I had to take it home.😁😁🤣

Geezzz!!! I had a great time here tonight. For anyone from Polokwane/Pietersburg -- make sure to pop in and say hi! The owner here, Frikkie, is from Polokwane and it was lovely meeting him whilst celebrating my brother's graduation and having my dad in town.

If you love great food. Huge portions. Value for money and the best Italian food in Gordons bay then head over to Alforno. Best beach and sunset views sipping wine and super pizza

Hands down one of the best places to have pizza or pasta in Gordon's bay. I really love there Alfredo pasta 🤤. Super friendly staff and great service. Definitely worth a try if u are in the area!!

We liked the location of this venue right by the beach. The menu offers a good combination of of starters, main courses and desserts and prices are reasonable. The quality of the food was average and the presentation below standard, with the exception of the starter that was very appealing. The staff was friendly at all times but if you are in a hurry, do not visit this restaurant: we had to wait for more than 20 minutes before we got our starter. I think this is something the Management has to seriously look into.

Dave and I were regular visitors to Al Forno when it was owned by an Italian. He understood that pizzas should be thin based and pasta dishes should be all about the pasta, and less about the sauce. It was taken over by someone who changed the ethos of the trattoria. When the regular pasta dishes were served with thin, watery sauces we stopped going. Al Forno has recently been sold to a group of young triplets and so we decided to give them a try.

Did some take away pizzas . .. Awesome! Lovely crusty base. One of only two places in Gordon's Bay that I can get good pizza. The other being Antonio's.

Excellent pizza and a nice view which is always a bonus. Can't help but feel like I'm on Holiday when visiting Al Forno's. PS. Spinach, onion and feta is a winner!!

Wow where to start...
The service is impeccable and the waiters are the friendliest. I think they all get sent to a bootcamp before they start working there.
There are no words to accurately describe the food, they have not been invented yet.
The salad portions are HUGE and the pizza is simply perfect.
If you could only eat at one place in Gordons bay, you will NOT go wrong with Al Forno.

Service is friendly, with a stunning view and pretty decent food. Only peroni on tap but is that so bad? Full bar available otherwise. Pizza is good with enough variety and they're pasta has praise.

Rural Italian ambiance. Typical noisy vibe. Great place for a bunch of friends. Food is authentic with real Italian flavours and it is really refreshing to get a pizza with such a great thin base but the flavour of the gallino was very mediocre. Reasonable value for money. Red wine was too hot. Real balsamic vinegar and olive oil was at hand. Waiter was a bit reserved and personalityless.

We were driving back from Hermanus and the girl in our gang asked for ice-cream. So we had no other go to pick some coffee next door at Al forno. We ordered for Americano, Cappuccino and tea. The service was excellent and the guy was friendly. My friend said cappuccino was awesome but I was not so sure in real as I didn't taste it. My Americano was good while tea was nice. I paid with Zapper and got some chocolates as complimentary. The service guy maybe was so happy with the tip offered for just 3 drinks he brought another 6 chocolates and offered it to us. Nice place. But need to try the other actual items as well because we were told that they are good with seafood.

Five stars for effort and service, 3,5 for the food and unfortunately no stars for management.
We went in straight from the beach on a Friday for a take away and the restaurant inside and outside was filling up quick. Two waiters hurrying about like crazy trying their best to help everybody. While waiting a young woman got up from a table (I thought that she was a customer) and walked up to a couple who was enquiring about a table that they booked and introduced herself as the manager. She seated this couple and then disappeared to the back. I find it shocking that a manager at a full restaurant can sit at a table and drink coffee while she has two waiters barely managing to serve a full restaurant as there was a total of 3 small tables open when I was leaving. Being a restaurant manager in the Middle East I was horrified as it was very clear that they needed at least one or two more waiters. The waiters were extremely helpful, considering the circumstances and the many irate customers who were all trying to get their attention all at once. The pizza wasn't bad either, I could easily bump that up to 4 stars if I didn't have to wait that long.

Dec 28 lunch: On our way from CPT to Hermanus, we decided to take the beach road though longer. This is on the beach front but across the road. Beautiful views from the porch. Started with what else - beer!!! Along with beers, had bruschetta - nicely presented and good taste. Pasta Contadina with spinach, mushroom, olives with creamy tomato sauce tasted very good. The vegetarian option was only one - veg pizza with spinach, olive, mushroom was crisp, well made and tasted well. Good place to chill and relax.

My girlfriend & I had one of our first dates at Al Fornos about nine years ago.
It’s one of our favorite spots to share a bottle of wine and pizza. Yesterday after voting we stopped in again and got a seat by the fireplace. While ordering drinks I asked the waitress whether they would be making a fire. She said they weren’t planning on it, so I asked her if they would please consider it. She told me she would ask someone in the kitchen to make the fire.
Forty minutes later our starters arrived, but still no fire.
Another forty minutes later our pizza arrived, but still no fire. This wouldn’t bother me as much if it wasn’t so cold, and I didn’t have to get up every now & then to close the sliding door, because the waitresses kept on leaving it open! We considered moving table, but that would mean moving into the smoking section of the restaurant! So we were left with a choice of either being cold or smokey.
We chose cold. Luckily the two ladies at the table next to ours were as cold as us and we could take turns closing the sliding door.

Amazing pizza! Loved the Ossu Bucco. Really chilled atmosphere and overall, an awesome menu. I've unfortunately had the same sloowww 'waiter' serve my table, both times I've been here :( ... Service from other waiters ('waitresses') seems speedy though, so not influencing my rating. Outside area definitely needs more light for the tables .. Will definitely be back!

By far the best Italian food I had in a really long time. My first experience here was 4 years ago the food was so good I came back again !!! This time around it exceeded our expectations . Friendly staff, and great fresh food . As a starter we had the bruschetta with olive and feta and for mains the osso bucco and the vegetarian option pasta the arrabiata , added on some extra garlic and chillies and it was cooked to perfection !!!! This meal was so good that I wanted the moment to last forever ! The place doesn't look like much but don't jude a book by it's cover!!

Nice pizza place at reasonable prices. Locals visiting has drawn us here. Food was good, service fast and friendly. Will visit them again when in Gordon's Bay.

Great food, great vibe, waiters were polite and fast :) only thing i can comment on is the outside area could be slightly more lit up but otherwise , great place. Highly recommend to anyone. Try the "Poco Carne" pizza, it was excellent !!
