Review Cape Town Fish Market - Goodwood

Tony
Their medium prawns were really fresh and tasty. The salmon hand roll was 50% off on Tuesday and the portion was good. Salmon was fresh and the Rainbow Reloaded was delicious. Only thing we didn't enjoy was the Prawn and avo salad. It was missing some lettuce to bring in some more crisp and freshness. They didn't hold back with the avo portion though, and the steamed prawns were tender and slightly sweet. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The vibe was inviting and we will definitely come back again.

Very friendly service. Sushi platter and prawns an calamari, they do give very little calamari strips which was delicious, nice an light coating. Prawns very tasteless we had to ask for lemon butter sauce no seasoning on it at all . We made a reservation in advance as it usually gets very full .

Great restaurant. I was shocked to find that they have a smoking area, which I really enjoyed using. Amazing 👏🏽👏🏽 They have great sushi. They also have a great upstairs were you are secluded from the whole Grand West aren of seeing people and people looking at you while you eat.

We've been twice and both times were blown away by the food. It's fresh, tasty and well presented, and the kids food was just as good. The portions are generous and the prices are decent, although the sushi is considerably expensive compared to most. The service was outstanding and the staff were incredibly accommodating. The drink prices aren't bad either - what you'd expect for this type of restaurant.

Everything was fine, but the service. We went on a Tuesday during lunch time. With only one table, which is ours, the sushi took about an hour to be served. It was very frustrating as it was lunchtime with no other tables to serve, but at least the sushi made up for that.

It was an amazing experience. Beautiful place and friendly staff. Loved it. The food was amazing. I went there with my mom and we had a smoked salmon salad, seafood platter for two my mom then had dessert and I had a virgin pina colada.

Really lovely experience all round. The ladies at the sushi bar were exceptional.

Good quality Japanese, fish fresh but too much rice in sushi dishes.

What an amazing experience I had at today's lunch. The food was absolutely divine. The baby squid was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. THANK YOU TO THE WONDERFUL waitress we had, if I remembered correctly her name was Mavis. Her friendly manner and her joyful attitude made dining there feel more than comfortable. Brilliant service👌🏻☺️

I must say this was one of thee best burgers and chips i had ever had anywhere, it was so filling everything was cooked/fried to perfection. My first experience at Cape Town fish market Grandwest definitely worth it 🙌 only thing is that the milkshake was so thick it couldn't really be sucked up through the straw provided but still the milkshake was delicious ❤️‍🔥 the deck setting omg everything was just amazing 💙

Upon arrival at the place, we were warmly welcomed by a beautiful soul named Abigail. Aside from her tremendous customer service, the meals and desserts she recommended were absolutely amazing. I was in the mood for a something beefy and decided to try the CTFM beef burger (I was a bit skeptical because I thought that a place who specializes mainly in seafood like dishes, might disappoint me; as I am constantly on the hunt for the best burger joints in CPT). Alas, I gave it a try and my oh my was it tasty! My dinner date had some prawns and vegetables, and devoured them in an instant. We were stuffed but were quite keen on trying the deep fried oreo with ice cream dessert (Yet another one of Abigail's great suggestions). Again, not the slightest bit of disappointment experienced from our side, as this was yet another great and yummy surprise.

Even though the place got a tad busy towards end of trading and Abigail had to attend to many other clients, she still managed to give us the best customer service. What a phenomenal woman you are Abigail🌼 _ Thank you so much.

Without a doubt, Hands down the best of lot! Avoid all the other branches if you can. Tried and tested on more than one occasion! Food is amazing from presentation to service to ambience. I just cannot comprehend how the rest of them gets it so very wrong??? I dare you to try the calamari here and then go be disappointed at ALL other branches.

The Tuna crust sushi is so good but the staff making the sushi right in front of you has no love for doing what they do. The portions are uneven, skew and barley holding onto the plate or just down right tiny. Which brings me to the sushi belt, so bad, so over priced and such a crappy selection. I think the selection is so limited because if they put more on there then one would notice the ridiculous pricing.

Haven't been back for a few months and my review went from a 4.5 to 3. The menu prices are crazy! The menu now consists of mainly tapas at over R50 per plate and gourmet sushi. Ordered the calamari and cheese prawn croquettes. Was very tasty but found my moms dish which was the prawn with noodles and veges.. Not sure of correct name, Was way too spicy! Restaurant was quite empty and service was good but will not be back in a hurry. Ocean basket and john Dory's are definitely better value for money plus offer specials during the week.
Aaaaah! The has sushi donuts on nation sushi day 🍩🍣😩😻❤ so good! A bit strange that my donut was a bit different than my friends 🤔 still yum nonetheless. How it becomes a permanent option!

Definitely on my Top 3 list of best restaurants to enjoy sushi 🍣

The deep fried Salmon Californian roll is SO AMAZING 😃

And the staff is so welcoming and friendly.

Love it !

My dinner partner and I shared the Grotto platter as a starter which was on special that evening.

For mains I had the Squid in rabato sauce with wedges. Our waiter wasn't able to tell me the base of the sauce, kept telling me it was a secret. That worried me slightly as some people have allergies and need to know the ingredients in sauces. Anyway, the squid was absolutely delicious. My wedges were not seasoned but the tasty sauce made up for that.

My partner had the lamb shank which was excellent and tender, served with mash. His only gripe was that he would have loved to have had more of the jus as it was delicious and it "disappeared" into his mash.

Lebo our waiter was friendly and efficient. We would definitely return for another meal one day.

My past experiences at CFTM (various branches) were not always great in terms of their seafood. I started to avoid it and always went for the sushi. This time I craved for grilled trout/salmon and decided to give CFTM Grand West another chance. I ordered the grilled trout. Waited almost half an hour for it and started to doubt in my choice. I was told there has been a misunderstanding in the kitchen. When the food finally arrived, I was very impressed. It was worth the wait. They are apparently under new management and it definitely showed improvement in the food and overall friendly service!

Opted for Cape Town fish market grand west, their seafood is always great and the service at this branch is always awesome. This is probably one of the best branches out there, thanks.

I enjoyed my chicken breast served on bed of potato mash with their house white wine which is not bad either the service was overall great I love ctfm grandwest...

Service was speedy. We didn't have to wait very long. The fish were fresh and the dishes were appealing and delicious. The waiter was also very friendly. CTFM provided free wifi which I tried to use however the speed was extremely slow so I could only read my Whatsapp messages. Overall, it was enjoyable dining here.

I was hesitant to take a chance due to the bad rating and the fact that all restaurants are always full on a concert night, but I booked as I have been in a seafood mood for a while now.

I was pleasantly surprised. Service was fast and efficient. I had the fish and chips, and I can honestly say it was the best battered fish I ever had. Thin and super crispy! While still moist and delicious on the inside. My only critique is the chips which was the floury tasting frozen chips which does not deserve to be on the same plate as the fish.

There were just too many mistakes to warrant another visit. Not being terribly fond of this franchise, we had actually intended to go to Hussar, but they had a wedding reception on (which I thought was odd, but that's a story for another day). The waiter was pleasant enough. It was very busy and very loud, which made one feel as though you were in a fast food joint. First mistake: my Kabeljou was served on a plate which had a gigantic chip on it...and not the type you eat. I fail to see how the kitchen staff didn't notice this so this makes me think that standards are not generally high. Second mistake: lots of scales were left on the fish, which resulted in an unwelcome crunch in my mouth. Third mistake: the waiter took too long to bring us the bill and eventually we had to hail another waiter. The reason it gets a 2.5 is that my husband's meal of calamari and prawn was quite good.

Disappointed. I ordered Calamari and Prawn Combo. When I asked for a Finger Bowl I was told "our company policy is to bring wet wipes" not what I wanted or asked for. I had to go into the Casino to wash my hands. (Calamari was VERY oily).

A bit later I attempted to speak to the "Front Manager" he told me he was busy. And didn't come back.

I must complement this branch on the quality of their sushi.

Sushi is a art for me and not all restaurants do it well, however Cape Town Fish Market is definitely one of the sushi restaurants that I can recommend.

Next time you pay a visit to Grand West Casino make a turn at Cape Town Fish Market.

Was Good.... Great of them adding a bigger Combo selection to their menu. And yes I love their Sushi always fresh and its presentation is Great as always. Pity though they don't grill their prawns
The Food Musketeer
We had called a few restaurants in grand west to make a booking and almost all told us they were full. But on arrival and walking by we saw they had open seats so we went in. Had my first taste of sushi here. My sister ordered the spicy tempura sushi which I tasted and quite enjoyed. I still suck at using chopsticks though :-(. Service was good and we enjoyed our meals.

Sushi chefs really spoil you by giving you extra attention at the sushi bar. My wife only eats vegetarian sushi and although there wasnt any on the belt they always made sure she had something to nibble on. Now thats worth going back for.

Saturday evening supper. Our waiter was hardly seen. When our food came, it was not the correct order and he was reluctant to take it back. It went back to the kitchen and after an hour our food eventually came. The Manager wasn't even bothered at keeping her customers happy. Pathetic service.

Went here the other night before watching a show at Grandwest. Our waiter was friendly, but the food is much to expensive for what you get. We had the platter for two and it was definately not enough for two, also considering that I don't usually eat a lot. Don't think I will go back there.

Friday afternoon lunch with business colleagues. Great sushi but disappointed with the teriyaki salmon. You have a long way to go to be better than your counterparts in Durban, that was the best that I had ever tasted.
Overall not a great experience on a very quiet Friday afternoon, service was slow and waiter was more interested in looking at the live crayfish than the diners.

Had an exceptional unplanned dinner date by candle light thanx to Eskoms loadshedding. Service was good and food was out of this world. Thank you CTFM for a fantastic date night

I was very impressed with the service and really enjoyed the food.
It can be very busy at month ends but worth your while to wait if you did not book in advance.
Their perlemoen soup is to die for.
Very Very clean kitchen cause I got lost the first time we went there and ended up in the kitchen. Rest assure that you can eat without any fear.

I'm always keen to visit seafood restaurants as sushi is my favourite food and I just love all seafood in general. I was really excited to see that CTFM had some really great 50% off specials so I rounded up some troops to go try the special out followed by a game of 10 pin bowling. I rang up the restaurant to make a booking and was told that unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked so I would have to come another night. Having round up the hungry troops already and prepared them for food, we decided to go out for dinner anyways. Upon walking past the restaurant though, we noticed it was very empty so I tried to get a table, thinking the bookings were probably for a bit later but that was not the case, there were no bookings so we were shown to be table.

Sadly that's were the disappointments began. The portions shown on the special were half the size as they were shown in the pictures and precooked. Our sushi offers took forever to come out and tasted bland and uninspiring. We also had a very unfriendly waitress who did not apologise for only bringing half the food out that we ordered because after almost an hour of waiting, some of the food was still not ready.

Sadly that was my first and last experience as I won't be a returning customer
