Review La Piovra Pizza & Pasta - Germiston

We absolutely loved the food. A bite of my first slice of pizza was crisp and succulent , you know, it's pizza when you pull a slice away and see all that string of cheese attached to the other slices Juices pouring down my hand of my meaty toppings, and that red hot, tasty, fresh chilies gave it just that perfect hit of zing. the service was on point.

bit pricey, but they r not stingy with the toppings. I cannot say that the pizza tasted amazing, but thats not because of poor toppings, more because I think the combinations need to be reviewed. we tried 2 pizza.... 1 was nice, 1 was ok. service is very good, ambience... not outstanding.. but acceptable. worth a repeat visit if u r in the area..

After joining an event, we were starving and needed some food asap. With the lockdown in place at the time most places closed early on a Saturday evening and it was raining. So we needed something on the way home. La Piovra Bedfordview is a place I've had on my "to eat" list for a long time yet just never got to it. Now was finally our chance. Luckily it was not too busy, and obviously covid protocols adhered to. Our waiter Paul was such a pleasure, with a great sense of humour. We made it clear we were hungry and needed food asap lol... We placed our orders as we were weary of time. Throughout lockdown I kept craving prawn pasta, so I immediately went to the pasta section, but I know most people say their pizzas are amazing. I then saw the Amatriciana Pasta - Tomato, Bacon, Chillies, Garlic and Herbs, the BONUS I could have it with Gnocchi. So I changed it to Gnocchi instead. My sister had the Girasole - Stuffed Pasta with Salmon and Ricotta Cheese served with Butter and Sage (or you could have napoletana sauce) Wow guys, when our food arrived hot and freshly made. It was like heaven on a plate. I've never had such a flavoursome meal in a long time. I could easily have ordered another portion and polished it off. My sister even said her food was amazing. While eating we were watching how many pizzas they were popping out for deliveries or collections it was ridiculously busy in that aspect, so glad that people are still supporting local eateries and this one has been around a long time. I definitely need to go back for some more food and maybe start off with the Gnocchi again as a starter 😋 We just finished our meals off with Cappuccinos and off we went to ensure we were home before the curfew. If you in the area definitely give them a try. Food is AMAZING, the service was great and it's nice and spacious inside. My favourite pizza / pasta place in Johannesburg, awesome food, chilled vibe, well priced. Awesome authentic taste hasn't changed over the years. Would recommend this place to everyone. Would recommend Rob's special pizza with added chorizo, and the steak calzone with extra olives

If I had to choose what my last meal on earth would be, it would be pizza from La Piovra. I have never tasted pizza so incredible. My partner and I are there basically every week.🤣 Really friendly staff too! The only reason I have given it 4 stars is because the lighting in there is WAY too bright. It needs yellow light not white light. It’s very uncomfortable for the eyes and I’ve witnessed a few people complaining to the staff about it during all the times I’ve been there. Please can something be done? We love sitting down and eating but after an hour we just can’t do the bright lighting anymore.🥹

Family is everything! & Should be the most important part of your life..... This restaurant is a true family business..the owners Lorenza & Massi are extrodanery people they are friendly and have hearts of gold... They truly make you feel welcome and comfortable in their restaurant. All the staff are really friendly and give great service. The food is always made fresh and they even make their pastas from scratch. Every piece of pasta is made perfectly. Every dish is a masterpiece... I have abselutely fallen in love with the AMAZING FOOD & the place. The service was super!!! Quick and smiles all round :) thank you so much!! The food (veggie pizza and steak calzone) was just great. Just great. We stopped by after work, on a Tuesday, so it wasn't too busy. The place is lovely and the prices are reasonable. It only took about 10mins and we left with our takeaways. Will definitely be back. Pick any pizza on the menu, never disappointed. I purposefully get take always on Fridays cos they’re so busy and I have sit and wait for my pizzas to be made, couldn’t ask for a better vibe and atmosphere.

My sister, my son and I dined out at La Piovra last Friday evening to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant was pumping and filled to capacity. Despite being such a busy night for the staff, we had a fabulous and enjoyable dinner. The food was excellent and as good as always, there was a great ambience and lots of happy diners. The staff, as well as Lorenza and Massi, kept it all together and the food was flying out of the kitchen. After dinner, all the staff came to our table with an ice cream and 2 candles aflame and sang happy birthday to the birthday girl, with all the diners joining in. What a special moment! Thank you so much to Lorenza for spoiling me, and for making my birthday the amazing success that it was. A truly great and memorable evening xxx

Great food as always and love the sangria. Only place that still makes proper pizza, not cookie dough with cheese.

The world had ended when Pizza Connection in Primrose sold to new owners... Years later I was introduced to La Piovra by my hubby who works in Bedfordview. One bite and I knew it was Pizza Connection. Different place, different time, different name but you guys still make the most amazing pizza!!! Thank You for an awesome birthday, I am so glad I have found you again! I now travel all the way from Alberton to buy pizza.
