Unbelievable food in a modern trendy setting. We had the prawn starter with an amazing rack of lamb as the main. Highly recommended. Situated close to the CBD of Cape Town.
I know I’m guaranteed quality food every time I visit. I love the concept of the menu changing everyday. Also I find the ambiance quite lovely. I’ve never been a fan of crowded restaurants, so it’s perfect.
Chefs provides diners with a very unique dining experience, doing away with waiters, tipping and even menus. I quite liked the concept of having a very limited menu, which does provide at least one vegetarian option for those who need it. The food was absolutely delicious and the creme brûlée was a highlight of my meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant really added to the whole experience. The service was a bit slow when we wanted to order and ask for the bill but this may be due to the fact that the chefs act as the “waiters” which ma be a bit problematic at very busy times.
What an exceptional dining experience. I loved the whole concept as soon as I read about it and it was executed brilliantly and beautifully. My risotto was amazing, as was my desert. Thank you! I will be back!
I love the idea of having a very limited but also very fabulous menu. Everything I had was subtle beautifully seasoned and amazing. The fact that the cooks serve you gives a wonderful opportunity to thank them directly for their excellent work. I'm certainly going back and telling friends about it.

It was my boyfriend’s birthday and I had super creamy mushroom risotto and he had delicious french style beef stew! both dishes were served with good amount of salad, and portion was decent.
They have interesting concept where there is no waiters, and chefs do all the job of taking order, preparing food and present bill etc.
Got nice open kitchen so you can see chefs preparing food. To be honest , kitchen looked spotless! and you feel sense of safetyness about what goes into your mouth!
They change menu everyday, so check before you go! and no bring your own bottle.

A few weeks ago, while attending to one of my Cape Town projects, I was fortunate enough to be invited to dine at Chefs. Chefs is a restaurant located in town on St. Johns Street, a great spot for a quick lunch or after work meal. This restaurant is pushing boundaries and breaking all traditions as far as what one can expect from a typical dining experience. Chefs boasts a truly unique and new eating out concept. They’ve done away with waiters, tipping and even menus. They set three available meals each day and these are loaded onto Chefs’ website each morning (for those who prefer to know what they’re in for). If you prefer a little suspense, you choose your meal option via the iPad at your table upon arrival and simply relax while your meal is prepared and then served to you by the chefs themselves. Chefs is all about the “fast fine” experience. They serve good food in a simple environment and a simple way. Don’t be fooled into thinking the food is simple. Chefs is headed up by Chef Jenny Ward, who graduated from The Institute of Culinary Arts with cum laude… suffice to say this humble lady knows her stuff.
Delicious food, changing every day , and friendly waiters. All of this in a beautifully and minimally decorated space , stretched all along the open kitchen. Difficult clients might complain the menu is too small (only 3 choices for mains and 1 dessert) but that didn’t bother me at all, it’s like having every day the specials of the chef only. That’s why probably the quality of food is also so good.
The food is incredible! Fresh and bursting with flavour. I love the fact that you get water for the table. I love to drink sparkling water when I go out, but don’t like to contribute to all the plastic bottles that they come in with. I adore the unpretentiousness of the place and will definitely be back soon.
I love this place. The food is always outstanding, innovative and fresh. The side salads are as good as the main dish. Wonderful flavours and top quality ingredients. Highly recommended. My only criticism is that there is no bubbly on the wine list but I hope they will consider adding it.

What a cool experience - we randomly stumbled on chefs because we wanted to eat somewhere new and close by. And I was not disappointed!
The vibe is super futuristic as the entire place is minimalist. I felt like I was in an episode of Black Mirror.
I love having a small (but good) selection of items to choose from (a total of 3 dishes; fish, beef & vegetarian). And everything is prepared with such precision. And super fresh.
I had the yellowtail ceviche & Marais had the steak. Loved how it was presented (on a cafeteria style tray, and each compartment had some kind of element).
Would definitely recommend for a cool, quick weekday lunch or dinner.
Don’t be fooled by the simple menu - exceptional flavours with quality ingredients. Best lamb cutlets I’ve had in a while, what are they putting in that sauce?! 😍
I really enjoyed my time at Chef's. I love that they have only 4 items on their menu which changes daily - a meat based dish, seafood dish, a vegetarian option and one dessert. I had the seafood tacos which was delicious - it was a really nice portion of seafood with corn in a spicy sauce served with the tacos on the side, guacamole and salsa. I wasn't disappointed! I do think that the wine menu could more extensive, but that is just personal preference :) I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I am so looking forward to going back to try a different day with a different assortment of dishes.
Chefs is definitely one of my favorite eateries in Cape Town at the moment. The food is creative & well thought out. I love their steak tartare, probably the tastiest in Cape Town. Just go give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!
I had such a nice experience in this restaurant. I ordered vegetarian dish what was divine. Never tasted better vegetarian meal then in CHEF'S! Service is fantastic and fast. All menu in tablet - what is very clever , easy to choose from pictures on tablet.Highly recommend this place!
Chefs Cape Town is fast becoming my weekly regular spot to eat - great food, served by chef Jenny Ward, affordable and quick. I love the simplicity and no fuss attitude.
Chefs was fantastic! Delicious food and great value for money - didn't want to leave anything on my tray, it was so good, but meant I walked out ready for an afternoon nap! Food looks just like the photos on their website and the menu changes everyday! We had the chicken noodle soup and the sirloin and then shared the white choc, pear and cinnamon bread pudding. Highly recommended and will definitely be back! Fast becoming a favourite compared to other new eateries around.

I couldn't wait to share my experience after I took my wife for our anniversary lunch today.
Chefs situated in Vrede str Gardens Cape Town, has this awesome new restaurant concept.
When you walk in, the first thing that strikes you, is the super clean environment. Everything neat, tidy and on it's place.
At Chefs you won't find any waiters - only top class chefs running the show behind an open kitchen layout. More about that later...
You won't find any menus on the tables - The menu is displayed on a tablet as you walk in - you immediately place and pay your entire order via the tablet.
Menu items are straightforward and kept simple, by only having three main dishes available and starters or desserts. The menu changes daily and always has one vegetarian dish, one fish and one meat option like chicken or lamb etc.
You are then showed a table where your drink order is served by one of the chefs.
On today's lunch menu I opted for the Line Fish. Full Description as follows - Caper, Lime and Pistachio crusted line fish, with smokey mash, Wood roasted fennel, citrus, mangetout & rocket salad. Tartare sauce and green chilli apple salsa.
My wife ordered the Peruvian Quinoa bowl, which consisted of the following: Quinoa, pearl barley with coriander, mint jalapeño, lim marinated tomatoes, pickled cucumbers, baby greens, double cream whipped cottage cheese. With a salad of rocket, baby spinach, spring onion and spiced seeds. Chunky guacamole with wood fired corn crisps.
We also shared a dessert - Quince, Pear and Honeycomb crumble. #nextlevel
A mouthful in more than two ways!
The kitchen runs smoothly and efficient and food are brought to your table by the chef who made your food, who also explains the various items on the plate. Speaking of plates - food is served on a canteen style metal tray, with smaller plates in each section of the tray. Again super clean and upmarket, not your
average "vark panne" of the old days :)
This restaurant is aimed at your modern diners. Fast and efficient without being rushed, with food that can compete with top fine dining establishments.
And without waiters, things actually runs smoother than expected and in many ways better.

Excellent service. I had the lamb cutlets, absolutely superb. Delicious food, perfectly prepared. I will definitely be going back. This was a very good experience. The food is just so very good. Simple menu of 3 dishes to choose from for each sitting: a vegetarian, meat and fish option. Beautifully served with lovely parings and extras. Highly recommended.
There’s something very special about watching people who love what they do, do what they love. We popped into Chefs in Gardens to try their new dinner service a few weeks ago and apart from their very obvious passion for great food, we loved being front row to all of the action.
Every dish left us asking "How can this taste THIS good !!!???". With such a clean and beautiful interior I'd say the whole experience was worth the hefty price.
Delicious unique health food and friendly staff. Meals are served within a short space of time quick and easy no fuss. The Food is prepared in an open kitchen environment you can see every meal the Chef is preparing.
