Nice friendly venue..... service was great food was great and staff super nice.... will definitely recommend this place and go back again.... good value compared to the rest of the over priced wine farms in the area
As a Marriage Officer, I can recommend this stunning venue for your wedding.
The staff were organised and the cellar has a great atmosphere. I did a vlog of the venue if you would like to look. Look at Troy Goldie Marriage Officer on Youtube
The food was superb, amongst all the service was the best. Thanks to the waiter Jaco. Of all the restaurants we visited, this one was the best of both.

Celebrated my Dad's birthday at Franschhoek Cellars. One of the best lunches experienced! Great play area for kids, food and atmosphere. And friendly staff. Will definitely be going back!
Very nice! Had lunch yesterday. Great atmosphere...good food and wine...good, friendly service. Will definitely visit again
Awesome place to visit when in franshoek, lovely place for the kiddies to play while wine tasting
Brought my clients from Israel for wine & chocolate tasting ... great service & views. Will be back! Thank you
Such value for money at The Franschhoek Cellar. Only R500 for 3 main courses, 3 desserts, a bottle of wine, juice, a big bottle of water and coffees. Wine is really good and come at cellar prices which is fantastic. Food was super tasty and portions are generous. Great play area for kids with child minders. You can also catch the winelands train from here. If i had to complain - service was a bit slow and mains took a really long time to come but the wait was absolutely worth it.
We arrived just after 10am and decided to make The Franschhoek Cellar our first stop for the day. After parking we were transported to the restaurant by golf cart which was a very nice touch even though it wasn’t much of a distance and then welcomed warmly into the seating area which at 10am was empty. After perusing our options we decided on 2x chocolate and 1x cheese and wine pairing, a nice balanced breakfast if I do say so myself. There were 3 whites followed by 3 reds, all of which were paired with cheese/chocolate. Our “wine advisor” was very friendly and knowledgeable and walked us through the pairings. I can’t think of many better ways to start a day, the cheese and chocolate really brought the best out of the wine and even though I haven’t drank much Franschhoek Cellar wines before I will be looking out for it on the shelves in future. Well done The Franschhoek Cellar 🥂👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 On a side note people with children will be happy to know there is kiddies area with friendly child minders, definitely a huge plus if you are traveling with kids!
Taking on a table of 26 guests is not an easy task, but the staff at Franschoek Cellar handled it so well. We all had lunch here yesterday for a friend's birthday, and no major glitches arose. The atmosphere was busting with people, the environment was warm and family orientated, and the food was delicious. To start, my friend and I opted to share the cheese board, with Rosé, and then I moved onto The fish of the day, which was the kingklip, served with roasted beetroot, tomatoes and a salsa Verde. It was well prepared but lacked a bit of seasoning. Other than that, I had cappuccinos, which were honestly such a saving grace as the temperature decided to drop drastically. The only let down for me was that it took 20minutes for the coffee to arrive to the table and there were things that came to the table, that no one had ordered on a few occasions.
WINE TASTING
We decided to try both the cheese and chocolate pairings because both looked so interesting. I must say that the highlight of our trip was the lovely lady who helped us during the tastings. She was just full of energy and passion and she made us love everything before we even tried it. I also noticed the other staff laughing and smiling.
The pairings were pretty great. I must say that I've rarely tasted such excellent cheeses and chocolates, most definitely never at a pairing. I ended up buying cheese and chocolate in the end, along with some bottles of wine. The chocolate is made especially for the wine farm by Huguenot chocolates, which has been one of my favourite chocolate shops since I was a little girl. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and the variety of different flavours and excellent ingredients.
Great ambiance and really warm and friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience because of our conversation with the staff. The wine and cheese pairing was a highlight for us.
Good food and good service.
Lovely outdoor area next to playground and very popular for parents with kiddos. On a lovely sunny day you should make sure to book a table in advance if you prefer sitting outside.
Nice restaurant with play area for kids. Can take blankets and sit on the lawn underneath the trees.
Very friendly staff.
Had the fish of the day which was delicious. My brother had the pork belly and said it was amazing. Also had the Valley platter with a good selection of cheese, cold meats, nuts, olives etc.
Chilled place with breathtaking views. Good wines to accompany tasty and well presented food. Service is smiley and personal. Modern industrial decor.
I've been here twice now, most recently staying for lunch. We had to wait twenty minutes before being served at our table and once even had to get up to find someone to serve us. It was quite a mess on their end. Their wine is divine which is why it's such a bargain at the prices they sell their bottles for. We enjoyed two bottles of different whites.
For mains on our table we had a jaffle, veg burger, chicken burger and cape Malay curry. The first two were great and everyone loved them. The chicken in the latter two dishes was overcooked and dry. The cape Malay curry was much too sweet to enjoy so we couldn't even finish it. They were apologetic about the curry and indulged in a slice of their heavenly cheesecake - a must try.
Overall, the service was too slow and the food had mixed reviews. The wine was great; the highlights of the meal were definitely the jaffle and the cheesecake. Id recommend staying away from the curry. They also have a wine and cheese pairing which I would love to try.
This is one of my favourite places to take family and hang out with the kids - the food is awesome plus they even have their own Brew... I feel like it's the one part of Franschhoek where there is a lot of variety.
Really enjoyed my time here. Did wine and cheese tasting then had lunch afterwards. The wine is really affordable so that was a definite plus. The steak I had to eat was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was really nice & informative about the various wines at the tasting so that was cool too. I'll definitely go back !
Venue is beautiful! Service is great, we were made to feel like VIP's upon arrival. Service is excellent (thanks Jaco!). Highly recommended.
Our visit was 100% wine related and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Firstly, the setting is super comfortable with a really relaxed atmosphere. We settled in at one of their intimate window facing tables and spent a ridiculous amount of time getting to know their wines, chatting to the friendly (and knowledgeable) staff and really just enjoying our Sunday-funday.
We started with the wine and cheese tasting which included 6 wines from the Franschhoek Cellar range, specially paired with 6 hand-made cheeses from Truckles Traditional Cheese. Whilst we enjoyed all of the combinations, the standouts included the Fortina cheese with Our Town Hall Chardonnay and the Gorgonzola cheese with Old Museum Merlot. The tasting costs R55 per person and it was a good mix of flavours. We really loved that each of the bottles in the Franschhoek Cellar range represents famous landmarks in Franschhoek.
We then moved on to the wine and chocolate tasting which we loved! The tasting included 6 wines from the Franschhoek Cellar range, paired with 8 hand-made Belgian chocolates from Huguenot Fine Chocolates. You might be wondering why there were 8 chocolates and only 6 wines? Well… 2 of the 6 wines paired so well with not 1, but 2 chocolates so they decided to include them both. Look, it is always a good decision to have more chocolate and we quite enjoyed letting them know which WE thought should have made the cut. Our wine and chocolate highlights were the green fig chocolate with Statue de Femme Sauvignon Blanc and the Cinnamon Milk chocolate with Baker Station Shiraz. Although if we have to be completely, completely honest – they were all a hit. The tasting costs R65 per person which we thought was great value for money. The portions were good and big enough to go back for a second and third taste.
Great place to take the whole family. Wine is insanely cheap . Food good, only negative was that my steak which I ordered medium rare came back over cooked twice .
