Had an exceptional dining experience at Vrede en Lust! The roast fillet was out of this world and melted in my mouth. The chick pea salad was delicious. Service was top-notch - speedy and with a smile. Highly recommend!

Absolutely brilliant casual lunch spot inside a wine farm. Exceptional service from assistant manager on duty. Love the pick-and-choose bagel/toast menu. And...there's laptop plug points inside for those seeking an "exotic" work location or alternate office for the day. Will definitely come back many more times.

The Lust Bistro at Vrede en Lust is well worth a visit. My wife and I had a busy morning in Cape Town with no time to eat before setting off to Franschhoek to celebrate our anniversary. We decided to pop in and sample the deli menu on route. Allowing us time to disengage from the pressures of our daily hustle and delight in the tranquility of the Winelands. Worth mentioning, we had visited the inviting bakery table in the past, but this was our chance to dine, and we were expectant. We were welcomed by friendly staff (a wonderful example of South African hospitality), into an earthy oasis of hardwoods and modern finishes, complete with a roaring fire, think ‘modern farmhouse’ affair. The menu was scrumptious, with a variety of options to satisfy most appetites, from breakfasts to burgers, tapas to à la carte, including a kiddies menu and pizza. Our interest was in the daily blackboard tapas specials that are great for sharing, where we opted for Pancetta Wrapped Prawns on rocket with an aioli of sorts, and finely chopped Mushrooms on Puff pastry with Parmesan. Both were mouth watering, bursting with flavour, we opted for a bottle of 2021 Vrede en Lust, White Mischief (Elgin white blend), that paired beautifully with both of these light meals. The wine worked so well, I popped over to the winery to grab a few bottles, and noticed they have a lovely tapas & wine pairing menu, triggering another visit into the tasting room, that never fails, especially in summer! I am so looking forward to our next visit indeed, to both deli and winery. Ciao ~SB 🍽️

Surprisingly Lust Bistro and Bakery was open today for lunch after we searched severeal restaurants in rhe area that was xcloses due to covid19. The waiters are very friendly. All tables and chairs arw disinfected before you sit down. They even wrap your cutlery in a sealed plastic bag to prevent any contamination. We ordered thw 28cm Canjun chicken pizza to share and washes it down with redreshing local craft beer on tap. Though the pizza was delicious for is it ia not worth paying R150. Why? Few small piecea if chicken, thin filling and half an avo in rhe middle. We also saw some of the burgers they served at R150. Hmmm bit prizy according to us. Coffee is very nice and strong. The red velvet cake is a bit dry and I personally dis nor like the fresh cream feisting on top and inbetween the cake layers. My partner enjoyed his baked cheese cake. The slices tiny for the usual R45 per slice. The wine tasting area looks relaxing with a nice view of the mountains and you can take a relaxing stroll through their beautiful garden.

Although the restaurant appeared empty, all of the tables were reserved but the waitress did manage to fit us in by. The iced coffee was especially delicious with the barista striking the perfect balance with the sweet from the honey and retaining the flavour of the espresso. The roast beef bagel was also delicious although I did find the bagel to be on the dry side. May have been perfect if it was toasted instead. Rounded off with a refreshing green salad. Should you decide to check them out, I recommend you phone ahead to avoid being turned away at the door.

Visited for mother's day and the food blew me away. Impeccably presented and perfectly cooked. Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating available, depending on weather. Situated close to the Franschhoeck wine route and an easy 40 minute drive from Cape Town. Ample parking and top amenities.

Fantastic; we had breakfast here a week ago or so, and it was fantastic. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and drinks. The service was very good and we were treated well. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try, and we'll be back whenever we can.

On the spur of the moment we decided to pop in for lunch at LUST Bistro & Bakery, located on the beautiful Vrede & Lust Wine Estate. They have a nice outside area perfect for warm days, but there is also an inside seating area for the colder ones. We decided to sit outside and I was glad to see that they had misters which helped to cool us down. Their menu has a range of different options available as well as wines from the farm which is always nice. We got a bottle of Rosé to share for the table and I opted for their beef burger for lunch. It tasted nice and fresh, and the others in the group also enjoyed their meals. The service was also good, the waitress was friendly and I am very glad that we decided to pop in.

Small plates were unbelievable, especially the croquets.

Love sitting in the outside area when weather is good. Delicious burger served on sour dough bun with lots of bacon and emethaler cheese - perfect potato chips and a delicate alioli. Margherita pizza was good. The chicken livers delicious and the Calamari salad was also good. The views from the wine tasting area is absolutely stunning. You can walk in the very pretty gardens.
