Review De Villiers Chocolate Cafe - Franschhoek

This is my 4th visit at De Villiers. The staff are always friendly. The tasting is amazing. I do miss the batch tasting, but every time we visit spice route this is our number 1 stop. No tasting has been the same and love trying all the new innovations. Good value for money.

Well worth visiting, & the tasting fee. This place will be heaven to diabetics that love chocolate. Extremely impressed with their range of “no-added-sugar” chocolates, that meets true keto requirements(sweetened with erythritol and monk fruit only) Also, extremely friendly staff.

What an outstanding setting; my family and I tried the ice cream and chocolate taste tasting. The atmosphere throughout the entire establishment is fantastic; we are certainly returning very soon.

The chocolates are all arranged along a small table, which you taste one and move along. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the chocolates are so creamy and flavoursome. The experience is very affordable and is just the right amount of chocolates to taste. It would be a good option if you were able to take a piece of each tasting and put this on a tray and perhaps sit somewhere and enjoy them at your leisure. It can feel slightly awkward and rushed when you need to move from one to the other across a small space, with staff and other guests watching, and no opportunity to really sit and enjoy the tasting. However, the experience is still a must and worth it.

Great chocolates made on site. Great facilities and friendly service. You can taste all their many varieties of chocolate for about R50 per person. Situation on the Spice Route premises with CBC and restaurants close by. Great restroom facilities and a must family visit.

Wonderful chocolate 🍫 and Ice cream and Sorbet. We normally order online but we were in Paarl so we stopped by. Definitely worth to have some ice cream especially with the surroundings. They do all kind of favours of chocolate 🍫 and they have suger free chocolate 🍫. The staff were all so friendly and passionate about their work.

I went with my friends from Germany. Great product and awesome tasting experience. I am shocked to hear that they will be closing the end of September. It is a sad day when one business after another disappears, losing all the expertise whch took years to build into a sustainable business

Turned off at the Spice Route, looking for De Villiers chocolate, ended up turning left at the T-Junction on the restaurants side. The signage indicating where De Villiers Chocolate was not the best. Between the 4 of us, took us a little while before finally getting there. Unfortunately, with the C19 restrictions and limited time, we did not get to doing a chocolate tasting per se, but, we certainly bought enough stock/variety to do a tasting of our own. Staff were friendly and helpful, could not resist the ice-cream to go as well. Next time, will allocate a little more time to enable us to experience the delights on offer.

If you're at Spice Route, you NEED to visit DV! It's incredibly well priced and you get to taste a huge variety of chocolate! Find your favourite and grab a slab at the end!

What an amazing experience we had today! We truly found another gem for relaxation and for having a fun time of food, drink, desserts, coffee, beer and wine. Definitely a place where family and friends can hangout together for an entire day. De Villiers Chocolate, for those of you who like chocolate. Getting to learn about the process of making chocolate, so educational and it really helped us to have an appreciation for this delicacy we love. The staff enhancing our overall experience by their bubbly personalities. For us definitely deserving a comeback several times more.

The café is cosy with an array of beverages - from hot chocolate to coffees. The shop has chocolate tastings which ranges between R30 - R35. Depending whether you would like to sample their established range (majority milk chocolate) or delve into the realm of dark chocolate and truffles. The sales assistants are friendly and helpful. Fun for a Sunday chill with friends and family. Worth the drive from the city. The product price range is moderate.

There are two chocolate tasting options available. For R30 you have a self tasting where you go around and taste the different chocolates as seen in image I've posted. The other option for R35 is dark chocolate only but you get a 25min guided tasting packed with information. There is a shop to the left as you enter. They accept snapscan. Definitely worth the time, money, and experience.

Divine artisan chocolate. If you are in the Paarl, Stellenbosch or Franschhoek area, this is the place to stop for a chocolate experience. There are 2 different tasting options. We went for the chocolate and confectionery tasting which includes a good variety of their chocolates and nougat. This outlet forms part of the Spice Route Winery property. You can visit and spend a day here trying the craft beer, artisan chocolate, hand-crafted ice cream and sorbet. It's also a great place for lunch as there are 2 restaurants. There's also a distillery next to the one restaurant. Highly recommend paying a visit. It was our second time back and we will be returning next time we are in the area.

Bought my "fix" of chocolate for the rest of the year. I will recommend the tastings of chocolate. There is icecream and sorbets, will try that next time. Looking through the windows how they prepare the icecream was a experience I will recommend for the foodies.
