The ROCK has an awesome vibe, there are nice spacious tables for bigger groups (which is fantastic) the Staff are really friendly and helpful (Pretty was our waitress and she was fantastic). Good range of food options (we went for dinner) including pizza, pasta, sushi, seafood, meats and some light meals. Delicious prosecco is available on tap and they have a great gin selection (yay)! Desserts menu is fantastic - we had the sphere which was on point! Only thing that could possibly be added to the menu is perhaps a cheese plate or some form of bread platter to snack on while having drinks before dinner - but overall Well done! Will definitely be back!
Great food. Really great staff. It's nice to see a place getting it right. The margarita pizza is outstanding and authentic and the alioli pasta with penne (the ONLY pasta for a lunch meeting) is perfect. Great cappuccino too and super strong Americano.
If you're a healthy breakfast eater, you should try the muesli and yoghurt and fruit which comes in three big bowls and is unusual and delightful.
A great restaurant and the best reason in years to go to The Design Quarter
Wow! What an absolutely great restaurant! Food was amazing, very affordable too. The dessert was the cherry on top- the staff and manager (Antonio) were all super. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to all foodies!

Date night at the the Rock. Very attentive staff but only appear when needed ( a good thing) hot towels after our meal lovely. Food was fantastic ribs and the a delicious juicy generous mussel pot. Great vibe. We will be back.

Hosted my birthday party at the Rock last weekend. One of the best restaurants I have been to. The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and the venue is simply stunning.

I had my birthday party here this weekend in the beautiful classy private room. We had the luxury to taste all the delicious tapas for starters before we enjoyed our impressive main meals, it definitely broadened my culinary horizon. From my very first step through the front door, to the last sip of my well chosen red wine, it was just perfect. Thank you!

Great location and setup for a relaxed lunch or dinner. Really good food and drinks selection. The bar, Carnelian is even better now that you can order food from the full Rock menu. But be warned - you must check your bill carefully before paying. Been there 5 times - and incorrect drinks were added to my bill each time.
Always have a great dining experience here. Whether it’s lunch or dinner. I like the place so much that I’ve hosted an event for 14 in the indoor garden room...lovely space! The service is always great and the food even better. The last time that I was there I did wish for more options on the Banting pastas.
Had lunch here and from the moment I arrived I was attended to. The manger picked a large round table considering it was jus for two I was happy I had space for my bag. It got too hot to I asked to move to the shade and he was very sweet and eager. After moving tables service slowed down. I ordered a passion fruit and lemonade and my friend ordered a virgin mojito. I then ordered 3 oysters as a starter that were large and delicious. I then had the 8 queen prawns with fries and my friend had the ribs and wings combo. The food arrived quite quick considering we waited a really long time for our order to be taken. The manager came to check up on us and I was pleased with that. The food was fresh and delicious. My friend ordered a chocolate fondant for dessert, tasted delicious so I ordered one too. We were there for a few hours and the bill proved it. Great restaurant though, like the vibe. It’s very chilled and relaxed. I would recommend this place.
Been to this establishment about 3 times now and had an enjoyable experience each time. The food is reasonably priced as well as the drinks. Being a vegetarian there were also sufficient options available to me and they were flavorful too! My most favorite are the pizzas, sushi (yup vegetarian options available too) and the Nachos. The only thing I could ask for an improvement on is the supposed "salsa" that comes with the nachos. Its basically chopped peppers, onions, tomatoes and cucumber.. not a salsa at all (pic attached). So if they could "salsa-fy" that.. the nachos would be perfect!
We have come to this restaurant twice, once with only my sister during its Sunday special and once with my family. Both times I was highly pleased with the quality of food as well as the amazing staff.

My friend and I visited this much hyped restaurant in Design Quarter for lunch on Sunday. We wanted to sit away from the crowds on the group level and was asked to be seated in the upstairs section.
The upstairs section is really nicely decorated and furnished. I love the use of dark wood wall paneling around and also the very cosy corner section by the bar.
Service was prompt and the Managers on duty were very proactive in greeting the guests around the restaurant.
We shared a Salmon Roses starter and I was very impressed by it.
For the mains, I had their signature "Excalibur" dish and my friend had the sirloin steak.
The food was very well presented especially the Excalibur which was on a "sword". I had requested for dish to be done peri-peri. The chicken thighs was grilled with skins on and had a yummy char crispy texture. My only slight complaint is that I felt there wasn't enough peri-peri basting and the meat came across slightly dry and I couldn't discern the peri-peri taste.
Nevertheless, we had a lovely meal and the positive vibe of the restaurant was palpable in a very beautifully decorated space.
Big variety of food. The atmosphere was inviting and warm. Perfect for a night with friends or family. Meals were reasonably priced and worth it. Last but not least, excellent service by Eric!

Went for the rib special on a Thursday night. Excellent service and excellent food. Both the barbecue and peri-peri ribs are great. The vlavaki - mini like waffles are out of this world as is the Orange gelato. Will definitely go back and try the rest of the menu. The upstairs restaurant decor is incredible. I’ve been to this place 4 times in the space of a month just because the food has been so good me😩. A great atmosphere with yummy food. The prawn pasta is a must 😍 and the bbq ribs are just delicious 👌🏾 love the Presentation of the Mac n Cheese! And their peri peri chicken wings maintain I nice grilled flavor 👏🏾Their mini waffles won’t disappoint those with a sweet tooth and I recommend the strawberry gelato as a palette cleanser🍓 it’s sweet but still refreshing✨

Finally, I got to eat at the rock! We were not disappointed. The food was amazing! The decor is lovely. The service was a bit slow, but it was extremely busy. Sam, our waiter, was so apologetic for the slow service. He was professional and helpful. We ordered the baby king clip on the bone, the Queen prawns, jalapeño poppers, t-bone and sirloin Steaks. All the food was delicious and perfectly cooked! I will definitely be making a return, I really want to try their sushi and lamb chops!
Surprised by how many people there were in this part of town. Lots of foodplaces stacked. Welcomed by a wonderfull host at the rock. Food were excellent and the service even better. Spend 3 hours of wine and dine in the rock. Worth it . Just the one thing that is overraterd. The old called caveman steak or the steak with a bone. On the tough side , although all the other food were excellent.
Really enjoy the decor/vibe at The Rock. Its elegant and sleek. Service is done with a smile, although it can at times be a bit slow - that being said the restautant was really busy for a week night so that's great!... Large variety on the menu, you can choose from sushi, pasta, pizza, meat, seafood etc and all at a reasonable price, given that the food is well done! There are also daily specials worth having a look at. It's my second time here and I will return again - good spot for a relaxed meal with family and friends.
It is one of the good places ive been in. The service is outstanding good and fast and you do not wait an hour for you food only like 15 minutes wich is fast and very good food it was great.
Very good food. A wide variety to choose from. The pastas are really good however, I had the grilled chicken breasts marinated/basted in a peri-peri sauce with roasted vegetables as a side which was grilled to perfection and the veggies were still crunchy and flavorful.
It was my first time there and the place is lovely, good service and great food. I had the rib and wing combo (safe choice) but the ribs where amazing, the wings where a bit too charred for my liking I left a lot of meat untouched and I chew my bones so that was not that pleasant, but again, those ribs are to die for. I had their chocolate fondant for dessert, splendid and the prior portions where just right. I enjoyed their strawberry juice and their alcohol free strawberry daiquiri. Oh their portions are big, yippeee. I love the place shem!

14.11.2018 A quick stop for drinks and a catchup with a friend. Efficient service with a smile. Only ordered nibbles, tried the Chicken Dippers with the Beer Peri Peri, and we ordered the Pimms cocktails. Delicious and refreshing. The Chicken strips were juicy and tender, i just found the consistency of the sauce a bit watery but it tasted good.

So I decided to post this on a more public platform as she deserves all the recognition she can get ! (PS : Saturdays' service was just as amazing. After many years in the customer service industry, I understand what it takes in order to gain and keep satisfied and happy customers.
It is not always easy and more often than not, customers are far too quick to complain and are less likely to dish out compliments. In my opinion it is vital to advise businesses of the type of service received, especially when the service is of high quality.
I reserved a table (table 13) on Saturday, 14/07/2018 at 13h15 for lunch and as soon as I walked to the table I was greeted by Rosie with the warmest disposition and the friendliest of smiles. She welcomed us, had a quick chat and then left us in the very capable hands of David who was equally as polite and friendly. I truly believe that The Rock Diner (Design Quarter) is lucky to have these two gems working for them. I can not even explain in words how lovely it was to feel taken care of and not like a bother when requesting assistance from David and Rosie.
Kitchen Bar was my favourite restaurant until they closed down and The Rock took over. Thanks to these 2 wonderful customer orientated people, I am sure that The Rock will become my new favourite spot.
I have already told all my colleagues about your beautiful restaurant, delicious food and amazing service and will continue to do so with friends and family.

Wife, daughter and I visited on Sunday evening for dinner. Their service was spectacular, half price pizzas were great with generous toppings and the ice cream bar was just amazing. Highly recommended.

Ideas ran through my mind of enjoying a relaxed drawn out lunch with a glass of bubbly in hand, this venue is sophisticated, comfortable and spacious. A perfect summer venue, for both corporate and social occasions. Our visit being more around laptops and work, we sat inside for a bit of privacy. Salads are enormous, was blown away by the blue cheese dressing, flavorful but not overwhelming the fresh ingredients. Burgers got a thumbs up. A piping hot Espetada caught my eye while being carried off, oh my, have to be back for that! It’s looked scrumptious. Tempting colorful chilled Gelato ice cream had us all drooling, go take a peek for yourself at the ice cream bar located inside. Service was adequate, not the friendliest, though they were busy so perhaps just focused. The self contained and clean washrooms are a winner.

the aesthetics of the restaurant are absolutely to die for very classy and elegant. the food was good, I had a steak there that was rather chewy and very difficult to cut through. the service was good & the overall experience was a good one.
It’s a beautiful setup. Properly planned out and a bit romantic. I enjoyed my food and the service was amazing. It will definitely be my chilling spot and a favorite hidden jam.

My spot in the corner downstairs was taken, so decided to check out The Rock upstairs. The decor and general vibe were amazing, felt like I walked into a different place all together!
I needed to satisfy my sushi craving, so ordered the the tempura prawn from the main menu. You absolutely cannot go wrong! The duck and pork were a little dry, and some of the wine unchilled. The explanation for the wine was that all the wine comes from the magnificent cellar, which I had the privilege of having a mini photo shoot in, and only once the bottle is opened, does it get chilled at the bar.
It would be a great idea if the tapas menu could have wine tasting to pair, and make it a complete experience.

I came here for the first time with my family for my birthday. I’d heard good reviews and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is big and open, and is beautifully decorated. The service was fantastic and the food was super. We had the calamari, halloumi, and jalapeño poppers for starters which were all amazing! For mains I had the aioli pasta, which was light and delicious. For dessert I had an Oreo milkshake which was awesome - but I would recommend sharing it! I look forward to coming back :)

Honestly loved the Rock and their staff SO much! We came here to escape the cold and found the PERFECT hot chocolate. Everyone has to try this! It's basically warm milk with melted chocolate at the bottom and a chocolatey stick of love which you swirl into the milk. It melts. It's amaze. We also shared a pizza. Fresh and yummy. Prices were very reasonable. The service was great. What a gem.

This is a really bustling spot in the old Kitchen Bar premises. We sat outside, just opposite the door - really good for (lots of) people watching. Service was excellent. After the drinks (the rosé by the glass was nice), came the food - much faster than expected. The food was tasty. I’m told the pasta was delicious. The dessert options are quite decadent too. The salted caramel gelato went down a treat. We didn’t check out the bar but I’m sure it sees a lot of action.

The Rock was one of the few simple restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. It had a modern - contemporary design and the menu was very creative, yet simple. The ambiance was amazing and the restaurant was well heated for a cold winter evening.
I ordered the Brie and fig pizza (haha the waiter asked if I’ve ever had sweet pizza). The pizza was so beautiful, it was like having fig and cheese on a flat bread. The left overs were even amazingly good the next day.
I had water only because I had felt very heavy that day, but I will definitely go back and have some lovely wine.
A hearty meal. Satisfying flavors, chicken set with the right kick! Burst of flavors in a succulent base. Chicken was pleasantly moist without the skin being the monotonous chewy that comes with chicken on the bone....
I love The rock, mostly for its location and service. Antonio is the floor manager I think. Genuinely friendly guy, he is the one running around making sure that everything is okay. He is friendly to the clients and the staff, heard him call the waitresses and waiters by name which was pleasant.
We went on a Sunday for brunch on a sunny day so we sat outside. We started off with fresh scones and coffee and then had the excalibur (which is their signature dish of chicken thighs) and beef steak. Finished off our course with the chocolate ball which is milk chocolate with ice cream inside and is melted by hot chocolate which is most likely a hit for chocolate lovers, it is "chocolaty". Its a pity zomato does not have an option to upload videos, loved the dramatics of the dessert serving

This restaurant is always buzzing so I decided to give it a go. The food is out of this world! I had the chicken and basil pesto pasta and my partner the canneloni and boy was it delicious and it arrived quickly after ordering which was a shock at how full the restaurant was. Our waitress Pretty was exceptional and always checking on us and giving some great suggestions especially for dessert of which I had the Gelato and my partner the baklava. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant very soon!
I had a pleasant little breakfast here on Saturday morning. It was caramelised bacon with french toast that was yummy...and the portion size was just enough. I coupled it with a cappuccino. Service is also very quick & efficient.

You're about to read the best review for the best restaurant. When my family and I first went to The Rock we were so impressed. I've visited about 8 times during my 3 week holiday. Their food is absolutely amazing and they literally have everything. Their prices are well thought out, and have you heard of all the specials. Monday all day = 50% off their excellent sushi. Thursday night = R149 ribs (The biggest and most tasty rack you've ever seen for R149). Sunday night = My favourite, All pizza and burgers are half price. The best pizzas. Try the Avo, Feta and Bacon Pizza.
Their decor is outstanding. They are quick with preparations. Their staff is so very friendly and the owners make an effort to know their customers on a personal level.
We've tried every one of their Specials. I even took the in-laws there for their anniversary and the setting was perfect. They're good for everything: family dinners, dates, birthdays, big get-togethers, corporate dinners and I've even seen someone eating there alone - now that says something.
To sum it all up; it is cosy, warm, elegant, known, trendy, affordable, romantic, and popular.
This is possibly the most vibey restaurant I've been to in a very long time. It has totally captured me and my family. Please open a branch in Cape Town, like next week.
So far I am overawed with every single thing. I wish I could rate them a 10 out of 5.

The Resturant is beautiful. Our service ... average. We went for a family lunch , and the waitress was no where to be seen most of the time. We also received cold food.. which was sent back for warming. However the desert was great !! Overall food tasted great (when warm) and the musician playing was great ... created a good time. Overall good afternoon .
After seeing and hearing many great things about this restaurant I was looking forward to finally trying it out. I decided to have a bacon, avo & feta pizza that was just the way I like it! The dessert though was out of this world! It was so unique and different with steam coming out of it- great flavours. The only downfall I can comment on and the reason I didn’t give a 5 is because the service wasn’t great, our waiter was unfriendly and brought us the wrong dessert. We were left for long periods of time with no attention. Other than that it was a great experience & I’m sure I’ll be back!
I went on a Thursday night. It was packed but service was excellent. The waiter Sifiso was extremely attentive. I was also impressed with how quickly the food arrived especially considering how busy the restaurant was.
We shared sushi to start- it was definitely freshly prepared and outstanding. For mains we had the Excalibur chicken and Sole. One of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had- super succulent and taste for days. The sole was fresh, delicious and cooked perfectly. Even the sweet potato fries were something special.
For dessert we both had Gelato- they serve a premium Italian brand and again- exceptional. This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Well done guys

Blown away! My wife and I went to The Rock after hearing about the Thursday rib special. My wife opted for the seafood pasta which, while quite creamy, was absolutely amazing! The prawns and calamari still had their individual flavour and were still succulent! I had the ribs which were fantastic. The basting was quite sweet but the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender. Desserts were to die for with the signature Rock chocolate ball desert a la Master Chef and poached pears. Service was impeccable and attentive. The wine was a tad warm at service but when I brought this to the manager's attention he immediately apologised and thanked me for the information. We will definately be back to test the rest of the menu, if I can resist the ribs that is!
We went there on a Monday for their sushi specials and it did not disappoint. 50% off on all sushi. We sat outside next to their heaters which makes the place nice and cosy. The service however was very slow and the waiter wasn't very friendly. If there was a 3.5/5 option I would have selected that due to the service.

What a great place. Great ambience, really amazing looking restaurant with loads of cool details. Food-wise, the ribs are amazing and the macaroni and cheese is delicious. If you have kids, order this. If you feel like being a kid for a day, order it too. Coffee great, ice cream great, and service and friendliness are spot on. I'm glad we went and I'll absolutely be back (next week, for lunch, as it happens ...).

In actual fact, there are days when I feel like working out of the office and will just work there. So from a business and a leisure perspective, I HIGHLY reccomend The Rock. Guys I will be back!
We arrived on Sunday afternoon for lunch. It was very busy but a table was located for us. Being so busy the service was still excellent and friendly. We had burgers, just to test the waters out...very, very good. We will be back to try more food on the diverse menu. I love the fact that there was a menu dedicated to dessert. All in all a great dining experience and I look forward to more good food here. It seems a booking is advisable here.
Lovely vibe and extensive delicious sounding menu. I had the B&B Burger (bacon & brie) - absolutely divine. Look forward to return to try something else. Friends had the ribs and chicken espatada and they said it was delish. Also said prosecco on tap was great.
Good variety on menu, Sushi is great!!! Especially the Prawn tempura roll. We make a point of going there on Monday’s with 50% off sushi special. Nice location and great attentive staff.
My visit to The Rock was a wonderful experience. The service and food was amazing! Will definitely be back! Enjoyed every minute of my dinner here!

Definitely my new go to place to satisfy my love affair with food .... had the most delicious burger ever, the patty was the real deal and moreish beyond moreish. Thank you The Rock for friendly efficient service and I cannot wait to visit again. Well worth trying out and thumbs up x 1000 times
Excellent service and delicious food with outstanding presentation! Staff went the extra mile bringing blankets to the ladies. Made fathers day extra special. Received complementary jack black and bells with a whiskey tumbler.
WOW WOW WOW!!!! The food was absolutely delicious, would highly recommend the B&B Burger and the Gelato from the all Italian Desert Bar. The service was awesome and our waiter always seemed to be perfectly placed at all times, the atmosphere was youthful and vibey yet my 70-year-old granny still felt more than comfortable in the warm restaurant. Will definitely be back!

We arrived without a booking on Thursday night expecting there to be space for us but wow it was packed! The managers were quick to help us get a table and checked up on us the entire night. Their managing team is large and it made such a difference! The menu is diverse so there is something for everybody.
At our table we had a tomahawk steak, salmon dish and two sushi plates. Everyone was impressed with their meal! The prawn tempura sushi was difficult to eat due to the size of the pieces.
The desserts are outstanding!! They have an entire gelato bar and a variety of desserts. The presentation of the chocolate fondant and the deconstructed Creme brûlée was exceptional!
After our meal we went upstairs for a drink at their tapas and cocktail bar. The decor was as stunning as downstairs with extreme attention to detail. It was really vibey and I would recommend going up there for a cocktail either before or after your meal.
Quick dinner before the rugby. As always prompt service, attentive staff and great quality food. Will keep us coming back.

Absolutely love this place, the decor is warm and cozy, they have a big menu that has something for everyone. We had the ribs which were on special on a Thursday for R149. The chicken Excalibur is phenomenal and their desserts are amazing.

There’s a new restaurant in Design Quarter, Fourways. The Rock, one of two adjoined restaurants – the other being Carnelian at The Rock – opened earlier this year in February. They’ve since gained much popularity. The Rock serves a range of Mediterranean style dishes. I visited them a few weeks ago. My benedict and I ordered a mix of starters to share including the calamari and jalapeno poppers. The calamari and squid heads were grilled and served with a side of lemon butter. The jalapeno poppers were stuffed with feta and bacon bits, fried in bread crumbing and served with a side of blue cheese dressing. Both of the starters were good. Be warned though, the poppers are seriously hot! For my main meal, I had the baby kingklip. The baby kingklip is basted in a citrus chilli butter, grilled and served on the bone on a bed of mashed potato and chives. Wow! I’ve always enjoyed kingklip and this meal certainly did not disappoint. The fish was well seasoned and beautifully cooked. I loved the kingklip at The Rock. My benedict opted for one of their signature dishes; the Excalibur. This was deboned chicken thighs skewered on a sword and grilled on coal, basted in a rich mustard sauce served with a side of homemade vegetable chips. Another tasty option indeed. For dessert we had the baklava. This was served with white chocolate, rose water ganache. The dish was impressively presented served in an aura of “smoke”. While I wasn’t particularly a fan of the rose water flavour, I did enjoy the dessert.

The place is lovely. The service was good. I had the seafood pasta with white sauce which was delicious and filling.
A nice restaurant to have quality time with great music. You can dine and converse in peace, the volume of the music makes that very easy as it doesn't overpower you.

The staff and manager specialize in customer focus and attention. They give 100% attention and focus to each table. It is as if you are the only one serviced.
The food is diverse enough and for all ages. We had teenagers to seniors in our table and everyone was satisfied,
Two people in our table were unhappy with their orders and the restaurant gladly changed it and made sure they delivered as per what the customer needs.

Tried out this interesting restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday on a Wednesday evening. All our meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. The prices were average and portions well sized. Service was good and ambience was perfect. A great date night restaurant.
The entire experience was such a vibe... Food was really great. Each dish we ordered was perfectly presented and the taste was immaculate. It was just a bit cold outside... Would prefer more heaters...they automatically add in the gratuity ..so be mindful of that if your budget is a bit tight

Delicious food...we had grilled chicken and roast veg, steaks and chips and ribs. Liked the round wooden table we sat at. Icecream gelateria inside. Dessert chocolate sphere had hot melted choc poured over creating melting theatre and tasted great for dark choc fans. Photos on the staircase was an added treat.
I throughly enjoyed the main meal which was the chicken creamy pasta and the blueberry baked cheesecake dessert. I could taste the freshness of ingredients used to prepare the meal.Chef did a great amazing job preparing the food and presenting the food. The Waitress was extremely friendly and jovial. She Maintained high standards of customer service during peak times.

One of the best restaurants in Fourways. The atmosphere had this smooth ambience and service was swift. As for the food, outstanding. I had lamb and I must say it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The steak too was succulent. Keep up the good work. I highly recommend especially for evenings.
Came here for a date for 1 😊. The staff were very professional. I absolutely enjoyed the chicken and halumi salad I ordered and they were able to give me blue cheese with my salad 😋.
