Review Mythos Montecasino - Fourways

Mythos is really good and better than most. The 3 dips side with pita bread is an absolute great side snack to start of your meal with them as it gets you into the things while sipping on wine or having a beer. I personally like the quality of their dips and find them to be consistent every time I come. As for the food, I would say I haven’t had a bad dish with them. But personally I just love the salad dishes they provide as it oozes freshness and quality and just reminds you or makes you think you are at the Mediterranean. The salads are a great size and certainly great to order for the table or share between two as a meal, with a host of pitas on the side with their dips!! The service from the waiters at the places is fairly average, leaning towards poor. Which is a let down because on the other hand, when you do have a problem, the manager is seriously hands on and extremely helpful to get your concern address immediately. The manager of this place that we dealt with was really really helpful to us. The tables were clean too, which is refreshing and was always provided with the necessary cutlery and serviettes etc before the meals arrived. Nonetheless, it is a great location in the casino and worth a visit!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. After an evening of fun we lost track of time and arrived there at 23:30 on a Friday. They were quite accomodating even though their kitchen was about to close soon. The service was wonderful and the food tasted really good. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, the décor is so well thought out and it is also very comfortable. I would love to hold a special event there someday as I completely adore the atmosphere. Marvelous!

Had a lovely dinner at Mythos, Monte tonight before we went to watch Tap Dogs. Had booked for 6pm, but there probably was no need for that early - in fact when we walked through to the Teatro between 7.30 and 7.45pm most restaurants looked as if they could accommodate people. My hubby and l had the fried halloumi - which was delicious. None of that "gummy" taste. He had the lamb loin chops on the recommendation our waiter and enjoyed those. I had the grilled calamari with rice and separate lemon butter sauce. Delish! Lovely wine to accompany the meal and all ready to leave for the Teatro with plenty of time to spare. Our waiter was informed and very pleasant. He was also not intrusive. Thank you Kim. My hubby wanted white vinegar for his chips and right down to the manager went on a search - all keeping us informed along the way - apparently not a commonly used ingredient, so elusive, but found! Lovely dinner.

Absolutely wonderful place to go for some seriously tasty greek food! Went there recently for a company dinner and the staff was very friendly and eager to help. The booking process was quite easy as well which was a pleasant surprise. Also being at montecasino means that parking is reasonably easy and safe. Would definitely recommend 👍

Good food and great atmosphere. Was really impressed with the service and net result great time with good friends. To top it off we got a free Stella Artois draft glass with every Stella draft we ordered, nice touch!

Best prawns at the price any where .I know prawns so try the prawn mania on the menu .The ambiance is that if a bustling Greek taverna. The inside cleverly disguised to look like the outside with floors that look like cobbled streets and the white washed walls allow the signature blue decor accents to pop.The service was good with the owner checking on you have a true authentic Greek experience .

Came here for a relaxing dinner with some friends. We sat upstairs and the atmosphere was fantastic. Wait staff were really friendly and inviting. The food was fantastic to top it all off.

Great design and very well lit. Relaxed atmosphere and good acoustics. I like the portion sizes and how fresh the food is at Mythos. This is a nice place for a business lunch or for a nice dinner out with family. While not suited for babies, toddlers and young children - the audience catered for here is clearly for the mature, classy and discerning. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely lunch before our show at the Teatro. The restaurant is big and open, clean and we just felt very relaxed there. The service was quite good too, very friendly server and the manager came by often to check if we were okay. The food was great everyone enjoyed our different meals, all fresh and tasty. The only comment is that the beautiful deserts are just too big, maybe if they were half the size more people will buy them. In summary then, one of the better places to eat at Monte with a beautiful restaurant, good service and good food.

We were in a hurry seeing as we needed to catch a show at the theater and the manager on duty went out of his way to make sure that we received our food on time- even when it was a very busy night for them. His attitude was fantastic, thank you very much! The food, wine and entertainment was also great. :)

What a suprising resturant. Amazing food, good variety of menu choice even for vegetarians. Vibe and decor beautiful. Manager was very good and on point. The waitress did not know much of what was going on. Maybe still training. But a smile can go far my mom slays used to day. All and all recommended for sure!

I've eaten at mythos a few times and the food seems to be relatively consistent in presentation and flavour. I would say the both are quite average. I always order the veg platter because of the variety and most items are slightly bland. My friend ordered some calamari and it was horribly salty. Another friend tried to order ice-cream from the Paul's ice-cream that's available and it took 4 explanations to get the waiter to understand what she wanted. He didn't know that they even sold Paul's ice-cream. Overall the experience was below average. Can't say I would eat here again considering all the other options that are available.

After the Ubereat guy delivered my order on 25 Dec. 2019. I called the restaurant to say the order is missing few items, they promised to send the missing items. After an hours have passed I called them to follow up, but they disconnected their phone.

Place for authentic Mediterranean food lovers. Situated very conveniently in the famous Monte Casino, this place is a heaven for Greek food lovers. <br/><br/>They have decent selection of wine and cocktails to begin with. Follow it up with the traditional pita breads, falafel, Haloumi, Grilled Calamari. We went for the Pita bred with hummus combo - which is the best one. The have a large selection of Salads as well for the health freaks :).<br/><br/>For the main course, do try the Lamb Ribs and pork chops. Of course, you can also go for the Mezze. The selection is huge and lot of varieties to choose from. Lovely ambiance and service completes a great experience. <br/><br/>Cheers!!

Disappointed to say the least. Food arrived within a reasonable time frame, but was ice cold. A meat platter that only comes with one meatball for R210 seems to be excessive. Sent the platter back to be warmed up, came back slightly warmer, this time without any sauces. Asked for the sauces, whilst the food got cold again. After three waiters, two managers all knowing about the issues. There wasn’t even a consolation from the restaurant to ensure that I would come back as a customer. There seemed to be an arrogance that they really couldn’t care if I came back or not. Luckily for me, I would not go back. Will rather save my money next time.

The pickled baby octopus was awesome.<br/>Rose had the mixed grill which had a good sampling of a few Greek dishes, and with a really good salad. I had the Kleftiko, which was ok. I did not enjoy the gravy which tasted like it came out of a can.<br/><br/>No Greek beers were available as usual 🙁, but the Leffe was a good substitute and the mint and watermelon G&T was really good.<br/><br/>The desserts of baklava cheese cake and baklava were excellent.<br/>

<br/>When I booked our reservation I informed the restaurant that we were going to a show at 8pm. We arrived at 5:50, I also informed the server that we were going to a show. It took her 20 minutes to find the wine (apparently in the basement?) While we were waiting for our wine we placed our order. We did not wait long for the mezes to arrive & they were delicious, about a minute after they arrived our main meal arrived too. It was sent back to the kitchen.<br/>Once our starter plates were removed, we said we were ready for the mains. We waited 45 minutes before we called the manager expedite our meal after our server was unable to produce the food from the kitchen.When the meal finally arrived the souvlaki was cremated, obviously the same mains that arrived with the starters reheated to a crisp & dried out, the salmon was ice cold & totally inedible (a poor reflection on the chef in charge & management)<br/>The manager did apologize but by then it was too late, our evening had been ruined & I had to leave without eating my mains <br/>

This place has a good selection of wines and drinks. You can try the deserts on the menu. The medium T bone steak served was absolutely amazing.

We eat here regularly. Tonight, the waiter was terrible and we had to request another. Tracy saved the day. Thank you. As always the food was great.

Good wine list with plenty of by the glass options. The food is really delicious. The Moussaka is so hearty and just so good. The only let down was at the end when it took ages to get our bill. We were 19 ladies going to a show so our time was limited. We did ask for the bill 20 minutes before we had to leave and it took about 30 minutes for our waiter to bring it. You will get more guests going to shows after dinner in the future so I suggest you fine a quicker solution for big tables when it comes to the bill. I’m just so glad the Monte now actually has a few really good restaurant options!

Food is good and on par with others in this franchise. I was though pleasantly surprised by the staff who went out of their way to make our anniversary dinner special.

Love Greek food this restaurant is high recommended. Situated in Monte Casino. The service is excellent, food is fresh and delicious. The interior is beautiful. The belly dancer here is the current Miss India Gauteng and quiet talented. Try it out

Gud looking venue, good variety on the menu. The service was gud. The dip platter was really tasty. The lamb chops was bland, needed seasoning. The calamari was tender and tasty.

We have created a new tradition in going to Mythos at Montecasino whenever we go to a show and we are never disappointed. <br/><br/>The service here is always impeccable with friendly, welcoming and attentive staff members. Our waitrons are always top notch and appear happy to be at work. <br/><br/>The food is magnificent every time. We usually order the lamb and chicken Souvlakia and the Chicken Yiro and always enjoy the meal! Their drinks menu is also brilliant and the cocktails are made so very well. <br/><br/>I highly recommend Mythos to all those that love Greek food and are looking for a great dining experience.

Second time...Never liked the tapas before..the fish was terrible, the burger was just...but u dont go Mediterranean for that right..but the pasta was AMAZING!!

The prawn lunch special was great value for money. 12 M prawns with chips or rice and a a glass of wine for R99. <br/>The service was great and although the restaurant was full because of year end functions but this didn’t impact the service at all. <br/>I can’t remember what the wine was called. I had the rose and it was just okay. Not excellent or terrible just okay, which is expected given all that you receive for R99.<br/>Once again, great value for money.

One of my favourite restaurants in Jozi. Always consistently good and I am obsessed with the Turkish Delight frozen yoghurt dessert and the Lamb Ribs.

If you are looking for an authentic greek restaurant than I will highly recommend Mythos.They can turn any ordinary dinning experience to something extraordinary with their good food and amazing service.<br/><br/>To name a few we ordered calamari, livers, king klip fish, prawns , lamb, salmon, pasta, lamp chops and shellfish platter all of which was absolutely mouth watering and bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. All of the side item’s like the salad ,chips spinach was fresh and delicious. I was happy that they had an excellent section of alcohol which we order such as Veuve ,Moet and Jonny walker blue. For dessert we had the baklava cheese which was out of this world felt as if I was in Greece I would say(The best I have ever eaten ). We also had the mini special cakes which was scrumptious.  <br/> <br/>Our friendly and patient waitress Belinda was very knowledgably on the menu which made it extremely  helpful when it came to ordering  and management always checked up on us.The seating is comfortable with a elegant Greek décor. OMG! Their baklava cheesecake is delicious. It’s not overbearingly sweet as Baklava can be, and the cheesecake part is great. I’m already ready for more. Service was pleasant, but highly recommend a deli stop here.

I am one of the biggest fans of Mythos branches and this one didn’t disappoint! <br/><br/>The interior was very chic, the service was quick and the waiters were friendly! Our food was delicious (we had the beef yiro) like usual. <br/><br/>Will definitely be back again!

Fresh, tasty and simple Greek food.<br/>Montecasino venue has warm ambiance, especially the outdoor seating. They sometimes have live entertainment. Lots of vegetarian options, especially recommend the Veg Meze platter and Houloumi Falafel Pita<br/>

Love this restaurant! Been here twice now and wasn't disappointed so far. My husband and I particularly love the vegetarian Meze platter which is just perfect if you're looking to snack on something flavourful and tasty! The veg moussaka is also yummy! The restaurant actually has an upstairs as well as a function room as well. The deli downstairs also has some of the yummiest mini cakes!

Ambience is nice , food quality is good but the taste is missing , the cuisine looks great but doesn’t go well when tasted , live bar is awesome and the staff is very helpful and kind.

Fantastic branch here at Monte. I had the calamari and it was divine. It does get busy over the weekends but the service and attention from the staff are fantastic

Really just great, fresh, simple Greek food with none of the fuss! We popped in here for a quick dinner and was impressed with the service and food. We ordered a platter, which was absolutely amazing. The manager was friendly and it was so great to see him folding napkins and setting tables - it really shows when a manager truly cares. He checked in to see if we were happy and even brought our food out for us.

I’ve been to Mythos only once before and decided to try it out again. I love how spacious and welcoming their restaurant is in the heart of Montecasino. A live band right in front playing some great jams to liven up the evening. I opted for very traditional meals for dinner nevertheless it was still delicious. The grilled fish and chips was perfection served with the most delicious lemon butter sauce , the feta wrapped in Phyllo was great too. The service was lovely and waiters beyond friendly. Food worth the money.

Service was decent...but that's the only good thing about this place. The food was terrible! You'll get more flavour eating the box of a McD's Big Mac than the Yiro they dish up here. Falafel were dense and hard enough to use on the driving range and the meat was stringy and chewy. Stale and cold chips with that 'old oil' flavour. Ew... No way I'll step through those doors again.<br/><br/>

So its show night at montecasino and thought to try Mythos as the places to try at monte’s are getting thin. Sad to say that mythos are a bit of a hit and miss. We went for the tapas style lunch to add to the experience and ordered an array of items to get a good feel for the menu. We ordered the lemon butter praws, a selection of pitta and dips, spinnakoppia, deep fried squid heads, yiro and cheese croquettes. The good first:<br/>The squid heads were really good, the batter not to thick and the heads fried to perfection, the cheese croquettes were cheesy with a hint of soureness which is normal for the kind of cheese. The prawns were average and the pita bread way to few for 75 bucks. What really dissapointed me though was the yiro, please do not put poorly fried minute steak up for yiro, its a bit insulting. All and all okay meal but could have been so much better.

Fantastic platters!! They had a variety of food combinations and dips on the vegetarian platter while the meat platter was a winner. The service was great. I loved the decor and vibe.

Went to Mythos for an anniversary dinner. The decor is warm but modern. Service was good although it could have been better. We did not have the customary check-in by a manager which is not a problem really. The food was simple Mediterranean flavours done really well. Everything was cooked to perfection. The loukoumades (greek doughnuts) were great but would have been wonderful if they were hot. I would eat here again.

Great food. Great service. Great cocktails. Amazing vibe. If you want huddle and bustle you have the option to sit outside on pacing bricks and listen to montecasino live music. Or calmness inside does the trick for me. Also great they have a little shop you can buy so many things from. Food doesn’t take long and they are great with meat and fish, which is rare for many places. Can’t wait to go back

This Greek restaurant is a good option if you are interested in Greek food. They have Belgian beer on tap and the food is good. Their prices are steep for what you get and the service is not too fast. It is thus not a good option to go to this restaurant shortly before a show at Montecasino. However, I am sure that everyone will be able to enjoy this restaurant when they visit.

Always great! Dip platter is a great starter and everything weve eaten has always been tasty and prepared quickly. Waiters are attentive and friendly. We will always come back.

So disappointed with the food here. Lamb is one of my favorite meats to eat and being a Greek restaurant one would think the lamb would be moist and succulent. I was wrong, my lamb chops were so hard I could not get my fork in it. It came with chips and the meal was just dry, I looked upon another patron’s cucumber with envy. My husband had the chicken strips in mustard sauce with spaghetti. Whilst his meal was by no means dry, the meal tasted more of a lemon sauce than mustard. <br/>The coffee on the other hand was good. <br/>So unfortunately another restaurant I won’t be back to in a hurry.<br/>

Love the ambiance here, we chose to sit upstairs and had a lovely relaxing dinner. I tried various veg dishes all of which were great. The line fish was also done well. Just disappointed by the cut of meat on the lamb chops....

We dined with friends and decided to order a variety of meze. The food was delicious. My favourites were the bifteki and calamari. The setting upstairs is really nice for a catch up. Great attentive service.

Went for a Sunday lunch today, we were pretty disappointed with the portion sizes. I've been going to Mythos in Bedfordview for ages so I'm familiar with the meze portions but the calamari was ridiculously small...I mean 6 pieces is a joke. Strange there's so much difference between the restaurants. <br/>We did notify the manager and he very happily gave us another portion of calamari and zucchini fries which was greatly appreciated and I commend them on a great service. Waiters were friendly and pleasant, and we further enjoyed our meal

Food is always amazing! Service was excellent! And thank you for quickly making a plan tonight even though we did not have a reservation! Fantastic!

We booked for 17:30 to 18:00 even though I specified this time range and the lady made a note of this, when we arrived at 17:50 and the table was given away. We were seated inside. Placed orders: Calamari, Kingklip, Beef Burger, Calamari Salad with extra halloumi . At 7pm we were still waiting for our food while fellow customers that arrived well after us were happily enjoying their meals. We complained to the waitress who indicated that the beef burger was holding up the order. We complained to two more managers and eventually the food came. The beef burger which they were apparently working on last and which was holding up the order arrived ice cold. We don't appreciate being lied to. The calamari salad arrived but without the halloumi , we complained and they then added a R58 halloumi starter to our bill and brought a plate of halloumi . We ate quickly because we had to make a show at 8pm. One of our guests ordered a glass of water, the waitress proceeded to bring him a glass of hot water. We sat there for a while dumbfounded why someone would want to drink boiling water and considered asking for a teabag, but then eventually asked for a glass of cold water. We left, won't ever go back, please don't make us go back here. We've enjoyed the Cradlestone branch in the past but the Monte Casino restaurant really was a bad experience for us. There are some other reviews here as well about orders being delayed. The kitchen is upstairs which is probably not helping with communication.

Beautiful, dim lit set up. However as a Greek food lover from Durban, the food was not up to standard. The mezzei starter was averagely good. Lamb chop main was not seasoned well and the fries were inedible and hard. The only thing that made my night worth leaving a heated room for was the baklava which was served in a satisfyingly big portion for someone with a sweet tooth.

Such a great place to have dinner. We went and sat in the upstairs area where it was dimly lit and cosy on the wall couches. Service was extremely good. We were very happy with how attentive the waiter was. Ordered the meatball meze (soudsoukakia) with humus and peta bread. The portion size was very decent though they could've given more than two mini peta bread. Would definitely recommend though for a function- they have a large open upstairs area which is perfect for large gatherings. But if you're a wine person just be aware that the menu isn't the biggest but what they do have is pretty decent. Overall great place

We were the only table in the restaurant the food took ages to get to the table. When the food finally arrived, our steaks were overcooked and one of the steaks was half the size of the rest even though we all ordered 200g Rump. The Manager took accountability which was refreshing but at the same time made no effort to rectify the problem or discount the meal.

OK once again it was a week night visit!!<br/>So my rating is slightly lower but I think I can justify it!<br/>We were welcomed in an almost empty double story restaurant on a clearly slow week night, ushered upstairs an seated<br/>Drinks were prompt,<br/>Octopus was promised to be soft as I asked before ordering yet I would have gotten more enjoyment out of chewing on my superbikes rear tyre, oysters were good but there is a restaurant not far away that offers much tastier, now you thinking this guy is mad, how can a cultivated oyster taste better..... Go see for you self haha, you will know! Cerviche <br/><br/>Overall from what I remember food was alright, I suppose fits in for a bustling weekend Monte casino vibe, where flavour an quality can fall short when you busy!<br/>Felt as if no love had gone into dishes made, which saddens me as Greek style food can be amazing when prepared with a hint of passion.<br/>Not my style, probably won't go back but that's just me!

Management very Arrogant and rude doesn't allow smoking in the restaurant smoking room! Good food good waiters but poor management to the customers.

I've been here on numerous occasions including last Tuesday - always good service and delectable food with a fantastic ambiance! I enjoyed the dip platters with warm pita bread and a variety of meze dishes.

We have visited the deli before, but this time dinner was on the agenda. <br/><br/>The food was quite good, but unfortunately our waitress got the order incorrect and then wanted to argue about it. The manager stepped in and the problem was solved. <br/><br/>In our opinion worth a try. Just hope you do not gef the same waitress as her attitude was really not doing the venue any good 😔

Friday night I booked to have dinner with my family at Mythos for my mother's birthday, I definitely enjoyed their food and the atmosphere was great. Karen our waitress was very quick and friendly. I would also like to recommend their beef and feta yiro which I had that evening.

Chicken Kota 4 out of 5 . Was cooked to perfection, succulent and well seasoned . Mushroom and spinach was. 2.5 . More spinach then mushroom 🍄.<br/><br/>

My mate was visiting from out of town so I decided to bring her here. The menu is rather limited but the food is so delicious. The staff are incredibly attentive and the layout of the place is great for small dinner parties and celebrating special occasions. The only downside is sitting on the upper deck when the casino has an event. The starter portions are tiny for the price, the mains are perfect. The barlady / barman is rather stingy with the liquor especially in the cocktails and she or he needs to go back to mixology class. Otherwise, a lovely relaxed family vibe. Try the lamb shank main and black mushroom starter.

Always a good meal and service coming here, its definitely a regular of mine. The restaurant is spacious with an upstairs area, keeping the same look and feel of the mythos franchise. Sharing a selection of meals 'tapa' style and some wine is the way to go. Food is delicious and points for consistency on the many times I've been here. The lamb chops, lamb ribs, prawns grilled and saganaki are the usual favourites. This branch also has specialty cakes which is different from the other branches.

What a horrifying experience!<br/>1) Got the worst possible table(outside)despite making a reservation a day before.<br/>2) after an hour and a half we found out that the waiter forgot to put the order in even after following up a few times as to why is the food taking so long.<br/>3) Lady manager was so unprofessional, shouting at the waiter in front of all the customers<br/><br/>Absolutely disgusting, eventually got up and left!

I was about disappointed as i have been to the mythos in design quarter. The service was on point but the portions were paltry. My "queen prawns" were the same size as the M prawns although i don't really mind because they all seemed large enough but my platter for R200 was not very filling and even looked sparse on that bug plate. I counted a grand total of 13 chips. Should have ordered rice i guess.

Went to MYTHOS at MONTECASINO last night for dinner before the Leo Sayer show. We had a promising start - phoned to book a table which was handled extremely efficiently , was even asked if we were dining out for the evening or going to see a show and confirmed the latter. Arrived at 18h20 , placed food orders within 15 minutes . Drinks arrived , waitress was superb but ....NO FOOD! . After numerous enquiries from our waitress and the manager who kept assuring us it was coming , we were forced to leave at 19h40 starving and frustrated to watch a magical concert on an empty stomach! Needless to say will never go back<br/><br/>Hi All , just a happy update regarding my initial post. Management at Mythos Montecasino has contacted me and would sincerely like to remedy the unfortunate experience I had. They have sent me a voucher so that I can experience how it should be. They have taken the complaint on board and their attitude has been commendable

Good quality greek fare. Love the meze options . Many vegetarian choices. Baby marrow dishes excellent and kataifi prawns delusions . Meat eaters need not worry lamb dishes good options. Service can be a bit slow especially if you are a big group.

Delicious food, we were well looked after by our waiter. The prawns were absolutely mouth watering and their skordalia dip is yummy (don't eat this on a first date). I'll definitely go back, my only gripe with this is that it's inside Montecasino and i don't think you ever get a great ambiance at the restaurants in Monte.

We have never been disappointed. Service is exceptional, efficient and friendly, and the food, especially the mezé platters, a taste sensation. If possible, spend as much time as possible to experience the different flavours at leisure.

Came for a quick meal the coffee was good! The service was great but the food wasn't great the fish I could get at Ocean basket or a fish and chips my chicken breast was raw so my rating was bad for quality of food !

Montecasino's Jackpot! Like being transported from Venice to the Greek Isles and back again!<br/>Having lived in London, it was always so exciting to precede a West End Show with a great pre-show dinner. However, back home in SA, dinner has always been a bit of a dampener on an otherwise awesome Monte Theatre Night... Not this time! The Mythos staff were all lined up outside their front door, beaming faces, ready to serve and get us "to the show on time". As a group, we snacked on large, beautifully presented platters of all sorts of Meze from meats to cheeses to falafel to veg - there was something for everyone. The wine list also ranges from the quick quaff to the specialty boutique variety which is great to know if we come for a longer, more leisurely meal next time!

Don't you hate it when you do a review and it vanishes??<br/><br/>Well looking for a new experience for the old folk, we decided to treat their taste buds to a meze evening at Monte. We took charge of the orders as it was all too confusing for them 😱... we had the meze meat platter, prawns, peri peri livers and the feta in phyllo.<br/><br/>Service was excellent and the manageress outstanding. Dinner was a mixed bag, the feta in phyllo was exceptional and certainly moreish, I have never tasted or thought of ordering the very simple morsel, but it exploded with amazing flavor. The meze prawns were cooked to perfection and seriously large for a meze plate... no complaints as you can never have enough perfectly cooked prawns. The peri peri livers were divine and left us all wanting more, succulent and oozing with herbs and spices... that brings me to the platter... we often order platters to get a good feel of the establishment and experience the largest variety of what they have to offer... this time it was a huge mistake. All the flavors rolled into one and nothing could really stand on its own. I will add that the standard livers on the platter were dry and bland, the rest of the dish was over powered by the sauce from the calamari. This left only the tatziki, which has to be one of the best I have ever had, but still the platter was a disappointment, to an otherwise brilliant meal.<br/><br/>Chips on a meze table... What an enjoyable experience we had at Mythos on Saturday evening after watching a show! Had one of the friendliest waiters with efficient service!! Their portions are great and their food is super tasty! Lovely vibe and love the decor! Calamari salad is too die for!! And this isn't just your normal salad with Lettuce! Definitely give it a try! Pretty good food and service. Had the croquettes as a starter and followed with the Kota mythos and ended with the halva ice cream. Croquettes were filling and had good flavour - served with a sweet-chilli sauce. My main of chicken was my favourite - very tasty highly recommended.The ice cream was delicious with just the right amount of halva pieces.

Being not so hungry we wanted to share a few meze. The food was really good from the mustard and lemon chicken to the meatballs. I wasnt a big fan of the falafela but its only personal preference as there was nothing wrong with it. The service was also very quick and we enjoyed our dinner at mythos.

The food is actually quite tasty and not very expensive. <br/><br/>The only real problem we had with this place was the service. They took extremely long just to bring us our drinks. The restaurant is quite big and they seated is outside on the balcony around a corner so it did seem at times like they forgot about us. <br/><br/>The portion sizes also were a lot smaller than what we expected. Sitting under a 'tuscan' night sky, in a Greek restaurant, with a Latin band playing live music while half of JHB walks past... if you don't like monte you'll hate this place. I take it for what it is.<br/><br/>We had a quick meal at Mythos before a comedy show last night.<br/><br/>Service was efficient even though the restaurant was packed.<br/><br/>We ordered two of the meze platters to get a good overview of the food they offer. I found everything a little bland, but the variety certainly makes up for a bit of that. The calamari was a stand out, tender and delicious.<br/><br/>Better than standard casino food, but not exceptional.

With classic styling, this outlet is my favourite of the Mythos chain. I'm a big fan of shared eating experiences so the many meze options are always something to look forward to. A few negatives I've noticed are the portion sizes for some main meals and the side vegetables which can be quite lacklustre.<br/><br/>On this occasion I opted for the calamari salad and loved the combination of squid and feta with the freshness of the avocado and corn - really different but delicious. <br/><br/>It's still one of my favourite casual dining restaurants to visit when at Monte.<br/><br/>

What an amazing experience. The meat platter was exceptional. Best livers I have ever had. My partner commented that 'this was the best meal she has had all year'. Try the Isle of Mythos cocktail, it rocks

Great service! Delicious food! Amazing vibe! Had such a wonderful evening. <br/>We had the Meze platter for two and swapped the chicken livers for falafels, and added mussels, spanakopitas and kota to share between 3 of us! It was more than enough to leave all of us satisfied and happy! And it only cost us R200 each (tip included!) Will definitely return with a bigger appetite next time! Thank you Mythos!

Everything on it was delicious, but we couldn't finish it there was so much! We also had an haloumi salad to share as well. <br/>Everything about this experience was great, and I can't wait to go back and see if it is consistently as good!

My local spot, my go-to when I don't feel like trying something new and just want a meal where I know it will reach my expectations. This is my favourite Mythos restaurant and it is all because I have never had one bad dining experience here!<br/><br/>The decor is lovely and makes you feel like you are in some lavish Greek restaurant along with stunning entertainment on weekends in the form of a great singer and dancers.<br/><br/>The meze platters are the best because you get to try a bit of everything but don't be surprised when their Linguine Prawn Pasta rocks your socks off - it is just that good.

Super good food, great service. Loved the atmosphere and what was very impressive was the decor and how clean the restaurant was. Thanks for a great Saturday afternoon.

12.11.2016 After watching a show we decided to get something to eat. I love the interior and decor of the place even though it doesn't give off a Mediterranean vibe in terms of colour scheme. It's more modern and spacious and the chairs are not too great as you struggle with the flooring a bit to move it. We sat upstairs and it was rather quiet. We mostly ordered of the meze sections. <br/><br/>• Lamb riblets which were tender juicy and tasty. Basted in Olive Oil and Oregano<br/>• Prawns Sagananki which was tomato based with white wine feta cheese and some ouzo. It just needed a little bit of spice to it. I added some peri sauce and it was much better.<br/>• Kolokithakia which is thinly sliced Crumbed and Feep Fried Baby Marrow. This needed a bit more crunch. <br/>• Seasoned Chicken srips grilled in a Creamy Mustard and Lemon Sauce. <br/>• Falafel which is deep fried Chickpea Balls served with hummus <br/>• Kota mythos being the Chicken breast topped with Feta, Mushrooms, and Olive <br/>• Kerkira Baby Chicken with peri peri. Which didn't have any spice to it. <br/><br/>We were full but decided to share a dessert. The Loukoumades - (Greek doughnuts drizzled with honey and pecan nuts served with ice cream) it was definitely a generous portion for 1 person. It was nice but not wow the ice cream was rather icy... and the doughnuts were a bit hard. Luckily it wasn't too sweet. <br/><br/>Our waitress was friendly and the service was good. Pity we missed the Greek dancing they were having later that day as we left when they arrived. Will definitely try them again when in the area.

We decided to visit Mythos on a Monday night, which in hindsight was probably a mistake as it was very quiet and we were allocated a waitress who clearly was new and could not answer our questions about the menu. This is the 2nd time we have been there and the first time it was much better. We had a haloumi starter that was cold and due to being cold was rubbery. The main was chicken breasts with a sauce that was a combination of feta, mushrooms and olives, which we both ordered. The sauce was basically a white sauce annd not much more. Between us we had 3 olives that being a greek restaurant was not great. If we go there again we will stick to the Meze Platters.

I love Mythos' decor and general ambience.  The Montes branch is my favourite, the service is good and reliable.  We had the Vegetarian Meze Platter for 2, very tasty!

Whilst the food as it opened was very nice it unfortunately deteriorated on my 3rd and 4th visit. The lamb shank was over cooked the dessert was doughy.

The meze menu is extensive and everything I ate was delicious. The grilled calamari tubes were an absolute favourite. Staff are super friendly!

When you go to Monte for an evening out there are umpteen restaurants to chose from. We chose Mythos and we were delighted with our choice. The decor is beautiful and the service impeccable. The variety of Tapas was extensive and the portions quite generous. My absolute favourite was the feta in phyllo pastry. Can't wait to go back there.

There's a variety of options in their vegetarian section of the menu. I had the falafels which were quite average, it's hard not to satisfy me when you're giving me chickpeas. The portion was very small and had I been very hungry I would have had to order something else. They also brought along a dip that contained some kind of fish byproduct, luckily I hate seafood and could smell that there was fish in there. <br/><br/>Overall everyone was pretty happy with their meal. I would have liked to have seen another vegetarian option or two in the other sections of the menu. Mostly I thought it was pretty pricey but standard for this type of Greek restaurant.

Met some friends for cocktails and dessert at this Greek restaurant. Their baklava cheesecake is divine, first tasted it at their design Quarter branch - it's my favourite! The atmosphere was lively and lots of fun.

Mythos is seriously amazing. From service, right down to the amazingly prepared meals. So far the best steak I've ever had comes from Mythos. Im yet to try their other meals, so for now ill leave it at a 3,5 until we visit again.

I came here with a group of 12 work colleagues on a Wednesday evening. Although the restaurant itself was quiet, it's in the heart of Monte Casino and so there was a lively atmosphere. The decor is quite tasteful. Our waitress was excellent and knowledgeable. My husband and I ordered a vegetarian platter for two to share. I was very impressed with most of the offerings on the platter (except for the dolmades, but that is a personal taste). Everyone at the table was impressed with the quality and portion sizes of their meals. Dessert was a divine slice of Baklava cheesecake which was delicious! Really great experience here, good atmosphere and good service.

We love steak! Good steak that is. And mythos is by far one of the best. Every bite is an amazing taste journey. One that you wish would not end. The portion is a perfect size and and the steak is cooked just right. Medium rare is actually done medium rare! Who would have thought. I have no idea how they do their meat but the amount of deliciousness packed in that one meal means we left happy customers. And the service as sharp as ever. Jonathan Theo Naidoo and I will definitely be back again.

After a disappointing meal at Pappas in Sandton the previous afternoon; We decided to drive to Monte Casino. Mythos captured our attention from the aura to having the option to sit anywhere we wanted including the cosy booth upstairs. The couches on the balcony were so comfortable, the staff was genuinely friendly although we had about 3 waiters attending to us (A bit overwhelming but their service was consistent). The food was fantastic and the prices are great. I'd give Mythos a 5 rating if they just add more olives to the salads and gave the pita bread as complementary.

Whilst having had a busy week and wanting to enjoy some cake we headed through to mythos to try out their array of bakery section. The selection was vast and looked beautiful. The taste however seriously lacked. The baklava cheesecake was heavy, lacked a creamy texture and no flavour . The blue velvet took a few mouthfuls of icing before being able to enjoy the cake, which overwhelmed the pallet with icing sugar overload. Overall I was disappointed and left feeling like the additional calories was not worth the money

What a delightful experience. Tried the meze meat platter for 2 and this was more than enough for us and delicious. Ambience of the restaurant was great. Well laid out with tables not bunched one on top of the other. Our first visit and will certainly return.

We went for a work dinner..food was pre-ordered for the table and even though it was pre-ordered for ys service was really really slow..food was average..best oart was dessert enjoyed the doughnuts and baklava cheesecake..

Last night we enjoyed an awesome dinner at Mythos at Monte . <br/><br/>I have been there a few times and every time I basically stuck to what I enjoyed previously. <br/><br/>Last night I tried the 300g fillet with roast potatoes and we also got to share a platter for 2.<br/>Mythos knows food 👌🏼<br/><br/>I love their grilled calamari and prawns on the platter<br/>The humus is divine and as with the rest of the meal I cannot fault. <br/><br/>I would however comment on the prices. The fillet cost R160 and the platter for 2 at R275 . <br/>If you were really hungry the platter won't fill you. <br/><br/>Love the space and decor.

I have been to the Mythos in Cradlestone mall and loved the food so when we arrived to eat at the Montecasino branch I was curious to see if the standards would be as high. I have to say it was one of the best nights out I have had in a long time. It's obviously popular because the place was packed but even so the food was spectacular and the service was excellent. Also the entertainment was pretty awesome! Belly dancers came around dancing between the tables it made for such a great atmosphere and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Meze we had was lovely although the Calamari wasn't great everything else was well cooked and presented. Best Greek food I have had. The Greek yoghurt and honey I had for desert was the perfect end to a wonderful night. Will definitely be back soon

I've dined at the restaurant on 2 separate occasions and both times the bill for 2 people was well over R1K. That being said, we're enjoyed the trying the different platters, great wine selection and loved the warm service. The dessert alone is enough to keep us coming back again and again. One of my favourite places for Greek food in Johannesburg!

Had my birthday dinner here,and my oh my, did we enjoy ourselves. There were plenty of options on the wine list. I had the kleftico, which was divine lamb shank heaven. The deco and ambiance were the cherry on top - a peaceful and serene outdoor-indoor feel downstairs and a fun vibe upstairs.

Enjoy the Kleftiko, but be sure to save space for the Greek doughnuts!! They are out of this world. And very tastefully decorated restaurant with efficient service.
