Review The Baron Fourways - Fourways

Tumelo Dee
Amazing place to go to , either with a loved one or as a family. I love that the smoking section is not just limited to outdoors like most places, and there is a wall separating the indoor smoking area. The waiters are friendly, efficient and ensure that all your needs are met. I loved their food.

The 5 star rating is for the service by management. Mike is invested in the standards of this facility. We had an unbelievably horrendous experience on mothers day. He immediately got in touch with apologies. We repeated our lunch today and it was excellent service as per standard. The service is excellent. The beef trinchado pie was outstanding. It was a completely different experience to our mothers day encounter. Thank you to Mike and the chef as well as Jabu who on Sunday tried to mitigate the disaster happening in the kitchen. P.s Google did not allow me to keep my previous review about the experience on mothers day, be that as it may, Mike and team redeemed themselves. Overall an excellent food, vibe and service experience today. 👌

Lovely pub on the Jukskei river. Usually the food here is great. However my chicken was dry and the chips tasted stale. Excellent fire keeping us cosy.

Beautiful set up, perfect for couple date nights, girls and family outings. The food is do delicious and the portions are very generous. Beauty was such an amazing waitress who made sure we had an amazing night. Definitely going back
Augusta Janse van Rensburg
Food was very tasty and served perfectly. We had the Liver with Bacon and Mash and was pleasantly surprized with the portion sizes! Staff was very friendly and attentive. Our only negative observation was the overwhelming firewood smell in the restaurant area itself, so, we decided to rather sit outside.
Ashveer Gokal
Attentive service. Well laid out and spacious. Various seating options. Food is always fresh and tasty. Beer is always cold. Kids play area outdoors. Enough TVs to watch any sport.

I loved every single moment of my visit to The Baron in Fourways. The hospitality is just so warm from the minute you walk in. My little brother was having his graduation lunch there, my uncle made bookings earlier on and when we arrived the place was already set for us. The restaurant gives of a very homey feel and the staff make sure that your every need is met. The menu is quit affordable, I am a student and I plan on making myself and my friends, very good regulars to this restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant without a doubt, the manager was the cherry on top for my day because he came to see us off and asked if we enjoyed our stay, and I really did. Perfect for friends and family, perfect for first dates, perfect for catching up with long time friends. They say first impressions last forever and this place definitely made a lasting impression on me.

What an unexpected surprise. Great atmosphere, staff and management super friendly. Stunning restaurant and bar indoors and a place for the kids to play outside. And just look at the food👌👌👌👌 yummy. A must visit.

The food was wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We chose a table outside; the river is very calming. I would definitely visit again.

Nice restaurant and kids friendly. Their mother day special drink was a very nice touch. A good alternatives to pappacino. The only regret I have is that they do not do pizza

First time visit to this restaurant. Food was good, service was good and overall a pleasant visit. Unfortunately by the time you read this they will be closed as they are relocating to the Leaping Frog Centre in 4 Ways. Seems the venue was not working for them and they have decided to move on.
WONDERWALL
Our go to steak house for a really great steak and excellent food. Very very consistant in Food, Service and atmosphere. Sadly we see that they are closing the end of the month, good news they are moving to the Leaping Frogg centre Fourways.

Brilliant meal and superb service. The bar made me a custom drink tailored to exactly what I wanted, and the kitchen provided a burger cooked to perfection. Truly an excellent experience.

This place NEVER disappoints. Steaks are always spectacular. Perfect for date nights or friday afternoon beers and light meals! Would Highly recommend!

Definitely the best of the Barons we've been to over the years. Lovely central fireplace, big booth tables. Also has a kiddie area but that's outside in the front but does have tables next to it. Dress warm if you want to take the kids in the winter months.

My boyfriend and I went to The Baron on Witkoppen last night and it was absolutely amazing as usual. Our waiter Milton was extremely attentive and took care of all of our needs.

For starters I had the garlic peri-peri calamari which was delicious and cooked to perfection and not chewy at all, 10/10 would recommend. My boyfriend had the garlic snails and thoroughly enjoyed it.

For mains I had the fillet steak (medium). It was cooked PERFECTLY, melted in my mouth and seasoned wonderfully. My boyfriend got the rib eye steak (medium rare) and explained that it was one of the best he's had and that the marbling and fat was cooked the way it should be.

We were unable to have dessert as we had more than enough already but would've loved to try it out, although this gives us a reason to go again.

In conclusion the food, atmosphere and service was impeccable and would highly recommend to anyone who feels like a delicious steak. And once again thank you Milton!

We love the Chilli poppers at the baron, and that they make them for us even though they are no longer on the menu. We generally only go for those, but decided to have lunch there the other day. We find the staff very friendly always, but there was only one vegetarian main meal on the menu which was a stew for R170, or salads. I decided to have a salad as I think R170 is a bit excessive for a veg stew, so I had the quinoa salad. The salad was very average, with stale pita bread and it was very small for R90. It also took over an hour and twenty minutes for our main courses to come, even though the restaurant was empty at lunch time. We definitely will keep coming back for the poppers, but we weren’t very impressed with the prices, main course selection and portion size

Today we ordered a cheese burger and a halloumi salad. Cannot complain about one thing. It was Yum yum yum. And great service to top it up. Money well spent. Will definitely be back

Just got back from the airport, NOT in the mood to cook, and in serious need of burgers, Baron to the rescue.
1st things 1st, the portion size is absolutely humongous, with the chips and the onion rings this can easily feed 2 people comfortably, luckily i was extremely hungry and ended up sweeping the entire plate.
The onion rings are nice and crunchy, not to oily and onions soft and sweet. The chips is devine, and were crunchy, and not oily at all.
The burger also not outdone by the chips and onion rings, were done just right. I opted for the Baron burger, the patty done to a perfect medium, the bun, soft, fluffy and the perfect vehicle to stuff it all into your mouth. The sauces and salads just enough to round the burger off, not to much to overpower the patty, and not to little to make it dry.

All and all a job really done well!

Such a vibey place for a Friday night.
We started off inside. I didn't eat but my companion did and said it was delicious and the service was great. It gets quite busy inside which adds to the awesome vibe.
I'm not sure if it's the norm but they had loud music and dancing in an outside area. It was fantastic.
A great evening out and will be back.
Been here 7 times in the last 6 months. Friendly professional service, excellent calamari salad, great vibes, no complaints. Awesome to sit next to a river to feel like you’re in the country. Will be back many more times 🐙😍👍
Jess Styles
What a stunning restaurant! We got a table next to the river, which was lovely but the inside area definitely has an upmarket appeal too, making this a very versatile option that would work for a number of occasions. I opted for the chicken pasta, I think it was the tikka chicken pasta. The portion was so big I could only manage half. Definitely a great option and I can't wait to go back.

Good food. Really good. Noisy. Nice vibe. Festive. Waiters struggle to keep up. So service is really not superb. I like the menu. But they call a very underwhelming piece of dry cake a malva pudding. That was a huge disappointment. I’d be back ja. Its good for a festive crowd who want drinks then a meal.
Bob Van Mieghem
Been there numerous - food is “honest” and ok - child friendly with jungle gym, face paint... the works ! Surprised it’s not listed under kid friendly on Zomato
Jalapeño Popper
Today was a mixed bag of sublime and disappointment... my mans T-bone was out of this world... tender, juicy and basted in an amazing sauce... the chips were real, crisp and absolutely perfect... onion rings made just like they should be... and the pepper sauce, well it was incredible...

My calamari salad was presented beautifully... filled with fresh greens and a proper portion of calamari ... but then the fire started... I eat masses of chillies, but this was over the top... the manager checked on the dressing and immediately offered to replace it... he even removed it from the bill... he admitted that there had been a mistake and far too many chillies had been put in the dressing...

Deserts were pretty standard but presented with a touch of flare...

We will be back... and next time I will most certainly over indulge in the biggest steak I can find... 😉... loving the company

I absolutely love this place!! Another one of my favourite watering holes! Their food is absolutely MIND BLOWING!! A little pricey for sure!!!! Buuuut it's DEF worth it!! Their Cajun Chicken Pasta Bake is possibly the best thing you will eat all day, every day, for the rest of your life! Another HUGE favourite is the Chicken Trinchado.. one of the best I have ever had! Their steaks are mouth watering! So tender, so perfect.. borderline life changing! ❀

#happiness

This one is the best Baron around and I've been going there for years. The waiters are obviously trained well and they are always friendly serving food with the smile. You can go to Baron for a quick coffee, lunch with your mates, family gatherings and a night on the town. I'm always impressed with the food. Only bad thing that has happened is once I got a pasta bake which had way too much salt but they were incredibly apologetic and I've never had a problem since.
HungryFitGirl
We came, we saw, we indulged.

We started off with a halloumi starter and potato skin starter. I particularly enjoyed the potato skins because there was a huge puddle of melted golden cheese you can scoop onto the skin and eeeet. Was so delicious.

I had the steak because I was told ne the steaks are power. The verdict? Possibly the best steak I have had in my life. 400 grams of still alive meaty goodness topped with bacon, eggs, avo, the works! (I like my steak rare AF). The meat was so tender and the fatty bits in the meat were everything dreams are made of. Seriously good. Our food was a bit delayed but the manager kept updating us which I appreciated.

Love your work! Will be back for more.
#rateaplate
Weve always enjoyed the baron and are always happy and satisfied with the over all experience! They make amazing snack baskets and their fillet and chips is the best in town! Vibe is great every afternoon!

If I had died after eating here, I'd have died a happy camper :) the good was absolutely SUBLIME. WOW! Definitely worth going to for date night. Our waitress was attentive and on the ball. We got put near the fire place as we requested and I loved it. Had the chicken liver starters and I almost had it for mains and dessert too! The had fillet steak for mains, which was cooked to perfection along with the chips and crispy onion rings. The wine complemented everything perfectly. Couldn't make it to have any dessert. Would go back every day if I could. 10/10
Tumi Bakang Rangaka
I will never ever order food from here! Had such a terrible, raw ramp steak!! Now my stomach is running non stop! Even their service is so poor! The waitress don't make you feel welcomed!

Two beautiful solid wooden bars, one inside and the other outdoors on a deck overlooking the Jukskei River. The oxtail with mashed potato and gravy is done better than in most places - the fine dining menu has a decent variety to be enjoyed in cozy privacy seating and a lovely center fireplace to be enjoyed during the winter months. There is also an outdoor area with kids play space and the parking area space is second to few places in the North. One of my regular places...
Gabe
Grate place , ok food, ok service.
Once more with my family and kids over for a meal, a entertainer shows up, balloon sculpturing artist, and boy this guy is good , I've seen some balloon sculpturing before in this place but the figures he made where absolutely incredible. From flying dragons to cows , supper man's , spider man's , Hulk's , I've got to give it to him.
Other than that all was normal in their baron. As usual service food and drinks where ok.
Mariaan Knox
Awesome

This is a wonderful venue
Great service
Awesome food
Just luv the river

My favourite

The estpetada and rump is delicious

Luv the baron
Denys Nienaber
Always great food and a fantastic playground for kids. The coldest Tequila in Fourways and a big selection of beers on tap. I love coming here on a Saturday for lunch.
Tania
Awesome vibe. We come here for the chicken trinchado. Love it. My friend comes from CT to have it. Good live music on a Friday. Nice atmosphere and great waiters and service usually very good
FoodiewhippedSA
Great place to just chill out or have a quick beer and watch the game on the Tele. Great selection of beers on tap and amazing food. Tends to get a bit loud but all worth it if you enjoy that kind of setting
Gazza
Can't go wrong with this place, unless it's a late Sunday night, then they very reluctant to serve much food,
Food is always good, beer is always tasty.
Its a nice place
Neeta Raga-D
It's normally way too loud when you sitting at the table, you can't hear each other speak, the food is good! The staff are very friendly, they have a great wine selection, I would go. Back when there aren't any major soccer or rugby games on, due to noise. They should consider separating the bar section from the dinning area.
Rhoodie Dakamela
This is probably one of the most complete restaurant / pub I've been to. A steakhouse that serves the most brilliant prawns! One could have never imagined. A place where you watch sports but still have the quality of an upmarket restaurant. Service is brilliant as well. Well done to you okes and keep doing what you're doing the way you're doing it.
BeeBum De A
I hate franchises like these... They never prove themselves wrong. Their cocktails are nice, but the food was completely forgettable. I had the lime & sumac rump skewers, I asked for rare, it wasn't rare. And just because it's " banting " it comes with no sides? Definitely a rip off. It Didn't even taste great.
Their service is not good, cocktails take forever to come out. Hopefully I'll never have to go back! (this restaurant was not a Choice of mine, It was for a birthday)
Dana Booth
Went to the baron on a Friday night for dinner and live music, outside on the deck. The service was great, and I had the starter trinchado which was delicious! The only let down was that the music was so loud we had to shout to be heard, even sitting next to each other. Maybe they could start out softer and up the volume so people can chat first (we arrived at 6:30) or maybe you are supposed to eat and converse elsewhere and then arrive to listen to the music...
Gramo
Best of all the Barons
Being going there for years
Great food, cold beer and great service
Weekend rocks the dance floor. Really lovely place
Steaks, burgers and even the curry is on point
Carl Hoffend
This is the ultimate Steak House in my opinion.. It caterers for everyone, family, party vibe on the deck, fine dining in the lounge with fireplace and sports fanatic in the pub!! Added to this is excellent food with impeccable service to boot. The Perini style rump is my personal favorite, don't know why it is not on the menu, maybe it's thier worst kept secret😂. Value for money wise it's only a few % more expensive than the typical South African family steak house Sp.r and it's a not contest when it comes to food quality and kids activities especially on weekends. Visited 4 times in 3 weeks of vacation. This place is a banker!!!!

This Baron is beautifully set out on the banks of the Klein Jukskei River. It has a relaxing vibe and is kiddie friendly. I love the set up, upstairs has a sit down dinner feel with a wood fire in the background, downstairs has the sports bar area extending to the river and then there is the kiddies area where you can sit outside and catch up with old buddies. There are gas heaters outside and that really helps to keep warm.
Gugulethu Del'sile Nandi Mdladla
Really classically furnished restaurant that is equally kid friendly. My first impression was just how well they got this right. The kids play section is large and secured and there are chaperones watching over the kids as they play. We were there for dinner in mid-June and found a fire blazing in the middle section of the restaurant with exquisitely decked dinner tables. It's just a beautiful space altogether but in an understated and welcoming way.

We received great service from the ladies assigned to our table & we enjoyed our cocktails although these could have been a little punchier. We were not particularly hungry so two of our party ordered salads each and boy were they in for a meal. Their salads are HUGE. We wish the waitress would have told us so because then two people would certainly have shared a salad each and been very filled. We ordered the Bacon & Avo and the Blue Cheese salads and both were fantastic-taste and presentation wise. I ordered the Baron burger and some Haloumi as a starter, the latter which didn't disappoint. The burger was alright, enjoyable but not necessarily taste bud shattering.

They have a very wide menu and if I lived in Jozi I'd certainly become a regular there as I spotted a number of dishes I'd love to try in future. Unfortunately I didn't capture images of the salads but trust me, they're HUGE servings! A great place altogether and one that should definitely be tried out by any foodie worth their title😎

In my week of comparing 3 platters the Baron came out on top in all the areas except the service, where they were last by a country mile.
The platter for two was really good and the food was all exactly what one would expect of what has typically replaced snack baskets.
The venue is big and vibey and if you sit outside overlooking the river it's amazing with mates.
A great place to meet after work or just to hang after extended lunches
Mariska Van Niekerk
Pleasantly surprised by the Baron, the service was very good and the food was delicious. We had the Portuguese steak and calamari. Very impressed.
Yolleen
I love this Baron. The food is great, its spacious, and it doesnt feel like you in that pub sorta vibe. Theres a great view outside. The steak, chicken livers and calamari options are what i always go for. Portions are massive and its packed with flavour.
Leanne Bekker
OK I'm not going to review it cos we all know The Barron delivers!! Happy wholesome family meals that you can't get wrong! A super day with the family, lovely yummy food and wine!
Maxine
I spent most of last year drinking and dancing the nights away at The Baron, so opting for a normal family 'celebratory' dinner was something different and I wasn't too sure what to expect. We had such a great time and all our food was amazing - the gourmet burger (with no bun) was delicious, absolutely no extra sauce required. The bacon, cheese and egg burger also got great reviews. Everyone's steak was cooked to perfection. Their creamed spinach is delicious. Definitely will be back for dinner and maybe some dancing ;).
Geoff Simmons
The Baron is a strange place in that there is a bustling family side with kids play area, a main indoor restaurant and also a rather loud and boisterous bar area which if I had kids I'd be horrified to have them set foot in there. Oh and also a decked section by the river that occasionally has dubious pub-singers wailing away. That said, the food and service is always good, staff are friendly and efficient and they also have some craft beers on hand too .Definitely worth a try.
Michael Lotter
Not bad place to watch some sports or meet friends for a drink. They also cater for families, with a play ground and jungle gym. The food is actually very good and you can't go wrong with the calamari or any of the steaks. Kids love the milkshakes here!
Taniko Gough
Relatively average lunch her for my step moms bday . I ordered the Bacon , Egg and Cheese burger , it tasted like dishwashing liquid , terrible , didn't even finish it . Not very happy that it cost me R92 and some stomach trouble after . Yugg , won't be back .
Lynn Potgieter
Baron at fourways is no match against the rest!!!! The steaks have no value for money, rather eat it at home!!!!!
Several times i've been here and just no improvement!!!!
Don't ask me how I want my steak and then give me something completely different TWICE!!!!!!!!!
Peter McDermott
I've been to the baron very many times, Sandton, Main an Fourways. I come here to enjoy steak, better than I can do it at home...

Alas, not good...not good at all!!!

Don't come here for steak...maybe the chicken livers.
Wynand Marx
Excellent salad and very good food, service started shaky but ended well we'll definitely recommend this restaurant for lunch and dinner as well above average
Keabetswe Jessica Ramatsie
Went there on the 1 September for our anniversary lunch with our partner the service was excellent, the staff is knowledgeable about the menu and the beer and wine selection. Chilled afternoon atmosphere. The food was delicious and the chef was accommodating to my special request, they got the steak right which was a relief "well done but not burnt and dry." Try the steak with the pepper source, the source is amazing. And the distribute Soweto Gold Craft Beer so you can buy local while you at it. We're planning to take our family there soon as its a child friendly environment
Debbie Kree
Went for lunch on Saturday afternoon, they were very busy but willing to help in any way. The waiters and managers were very nice and friendly. Nice little outside play area for kids. They need to look into variety on the menu and price, however I had the mushroom burger and it was devine!
Cary Seach
We visit this Baron fairly often on Sunday's and sit down on the deck to listen to the music and have had a number of parties on Sunday's as well. It's always a great time.

This week we opted for upstairs because the weather was not ideal. We never got the service, nor the food we have come to expect. Whilst I rave about most items on the menu, quality and price, yesterday was not great.

I opted to try the spare ribs, I've been dying for ribs for a while. They were shocking to say the least, dry with some sticky sauce painted on and for the bargain price of R175 for a single rack. Not what I expected.

A number of the steaks were R175, I don't mind the price but that is the same as a number of high end steakhouses and restaurants in Sandton, you don't expect to pay that at a Baron (family oriented steakhouse)
Katelyn
A friend suggested The Baron as a dinner spot. I was very reluctant as I immediately thought it would be pub style food. I was very pleasantly surprised! The menu was great. I had the calamari main with my friend. My fiance had the parmesan crusted chicken schnitzel and her fiance had a burger. All round the table the comments were great. Dessert was a fabulous creme brulee (obviously), a malva pudding with custard and a berry cheese cake. All amazing. The side serving of ice cream that came with all the desserts was very light and divine. The malva had a great review from a very fussy malva fan.. The best he has ever had... so it has got to be a winner. The service was very good and I loved the fire place. It really added to the overall experience at this great restaurant.
Eduard Hodor
Awesome venue and meniu. Trinchada (Chicken) is the best in town!!!
Lisa
The Baron has a good drinking atmosphere. In summer you can sit close to the river ( if you can get a spot ). Food is inconsistent and a bit pricey especially for their salads.
Garth Balabanoff
Great evening had by all! Our waiter (forgot his name) REALLY looked after our table of 14. Food was served all together; a big plus, especially for a table size like ours! I would have liked if the manager came round to say early on in the evening and not at the end when we had all finished our meals.

Top dish: chicken trinchado as a main - order extra fries for dipping!

Sarah Martin
One of our favourite and regular haunts.. The food is always of great quality, the staff are friendly and efficient. The Manager and or Owner are always in the shop which I believe keeps standards up. In addition they have a lovely kids play area and on weekends there are face painters and balloon sculptors for the kids. For those not taking kids along there is a cool deck area downstairs overlooking the river. Great spot.
Diederik Van 't Hof
Have returned after quite a while. The food is still awesome. Am "upping" the rating as the steak I had was beyond awesome!
=============+===+++++=======

This is someplace special. A unique mix of relaxed outdoor eatery with wooden benches and a great kiddies area, a smart indoor restaurant, and a riverside pub. The food is awesome if a bit pricey, the drinks are cold. In the kiddies area there are minders and facepainters (weekend and public holiday) - the ice cream truck arrives for the kids as well. Live music played when we there and it all contributed to a friendly, warm atmosphere.
Michael Cooks
The Baron's have been a beer hall for my mates and I for more times than I care to remember (or do remember) - it never went through my mind that it would be a spot for the kids.... Well let me tell you, this one is an EPIC spot for the kids, with the normal gr8 food you expect from a Barron and possibly the best Barron vide out of them all - well done to the team !!
Roslyn Hellström
I love the food and atmosphere! Definitely above par when it comes to "pub" food and decor! The spinach salad with extra grilled chicken is my all time favourite salad. The peri peri chicken livers are delicious especially with a healthy helping of mash. Both the steak and calamari comes perfectly cooked and tender.
Rob Nelson
We've been coming here for the past few months so we decided to do Easter Sunday Lunch... The Baron boasts polite, competent staff and is finally a place where the kids can play and the adults can enjoy adult food! Amazingly this jewel is empty on Easter.
Lauras World
I have been to this Fourway's branch a couple of times on the weekends to watch some rugby and usually end up sitting downstairs on the deck section in the evenings afterwards listening to a band. For me, I find this particular Baron has the best atmosphere for watching the big game: the TV's have great coverage, service is quick, and helpings are generous with good value-for-money when it comes to the food. I also feel completely at home walking in with my Springbok jersey on in some flipflops which is nice. *Recommendation: If you are popping in for the big game with friends, instead of a main each, grab a bunch of different starters for the whole table and just let everyone share.. My tried & tested rugby favourites: 1. Avo & Biltong Salad, 2. The melt-in-your-mouth cheesy potato skins, 3. Chicken livers in peri peri sauce, 4. Calamari in lemon garlic butter and last but not least 5. Beef Trinchado!
Francois KrĂŒger
I was pleasantly surprised when I met friends there for drinks before a night out. They have a good variety of draught beers. Not knowing what to snack on, my friend recommended the potato skins starter. Wow, absolutely delicious. I have to admit, it can get quite noisy during sporting events, especially the smoking area, but then again, it does have a sports bar vibe to it. I will certainly be returning.
Alexis Assimacopoulos
Like most of this franchise, not much of a restaurant but a nice venue to watch some sport and drink (if that's your kind of thing- admittedly for me it isn't). Of the entire franchise though this is the second best, and worth a visit if you want to watch sports in a nice atmosphere
Penny Parbhoo
Love this place! Their food and service is consistently good. I can't remember if I ever had a bad meal there. It's also a great place for birthdays and large parties of people. I normally book upstairs and pre order their amazing platters.
Lerato
All I can say is wow..what a great experience, the staff is very friendly, service excellent and the food is just as great, definitely going back.
Pieter De Waal
Very nice venue with the outside pub area over looking the stream. Good selection of draught beer on tap. The live entertainment on Friday nights is great it does however get very full. The restaurant food is always great.
Matt Cross
What more can I say about this place. The Baron Fourways is my favorite place to go to have a great time with friends on a weekend. The vibe and atmosphere is always awesome. The food is delicious, well-prepared and the Steaks are out if this world.
It's a great place to go to catch the rugby, soccer, formula 1, tennis, whatever your sport. Live music most weekends makes it a great place to go for dinner, drinks and a party.

On top of all this, the staff are outstanding. From the managers, to the waiters and barstaff, right down to those cleaning up after everyone is gone.

My #1 pick for Jozi's best spot.
Oliver D Richter
Amazing service.
T-ads
Most amazing burgers and steaks! Although seriously lacking on the vegetarian options
Always a good place to go for drinks on a weekend BUT watch your bill because they overcharge for drinks you haven't had!!!
Derek Martin
The Baron on Main is one the most versatile restaurants in Johannesburg, if you are looking for a pub vibe or a fancy restaurant this is a must for you!

The service is really good and friendly and the staff are all smiles, the food is well priced and the drinks too! If you are in a mood for a fun night out this is a must visit!
Noleen
Food is pretty good and they have a nice kiddies areas! Prices seem to be increasing but it's good value! Service can be a bit slow so if you are in a rush maybe reconsider. However it's perfect for a lazy lunch!
Richard Best
A nice place to have a tender steak, with some good options or "styles".
There is an inside and outside area, and a small play area for kids. The child minders are not as good as those at Papachino's, so if your kids are small keep an eye on them.

Sadly, their jalapeño style has become so mild it's hardly worth ordering
Nicky James
The Baron is great. Offering a delicious meal whilst surrounded by a fun vibe, or if you prefer a more private setting you can opt to rather sit in the enclosed restaurant area. Every time I have visited the Baron there has been a decent crowd of people, and any sports games will be previewed on one of their many tv's. Once you have finished your meal you can choose between staying upstairs at the bar area or make your way down to the lower deck where the fun continues. The service may be a little slow at times but overall a great venue.
Alma Pretorius
This Baron branch is next to the river, just off Witkoppen Road. If you can get a table on the patio next to the river, GRAB it! It is just soooooooo peaceful sitting there, gazing over the water and watch the ducks groom themselves.

The services is good and the food delicious!!! I had a wonderfully flavourful Oxtail soup. It's a hearty soup packed with shredded oxtail and veggies. On another occassion I also had the Creamed Spinach, Butternut and Grilled Mushrooms. Everything is just yummy!!!!!!!

Hein loooooooooove their pepper burger! You'll see the picture below!

TRY THEIR PLATTER FOR 2 (OR 4). Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For R130 (platter for 2), you get 2 mini chicken swarmas, 2 mini beef swarmas (only critique was that the pita was little bit chewy), 2 Austrian viennas, 2 biggish crumbed chicken strips, haloumi (to die for), served with cheese sauce (yum), sweet chilli sauce (yum) and peri-peri sauce (yum) and loads of crispy chips!!!!! It was really an awesome selection of snacks.

I ended my meal with a semi-fredo - (it looked like an ice cream cake made in a bread pan and then sliced). It was chocolate (I'm sure there were condensed milk in) and it had Whispers in it. Served with ice cream & cream and sliced strawberry. Well. I was sooooo sweet afterwards, but heck, I finished everything! Then felt guilty and put 2 spoons on the plate, maybe the waiter would then think I shared my dessert .....

The Baron on Witkoppen is such a great place to hang out! There is always such great energy there. I have often thought what I expected to be a quite lunch turn into an all night party. The venue is great with the smoking area around the bar, a nicely separated eating area which leads to outside where there is a play area for the kids. And my personal favorite the downstairs section over looking the river. The food here is great, mainly appealing to the meat lovers, but the options they have are filling and tasty.

I really enjoy this franchise of the Baron even more than the other branches. I love the look of the restaurant and where it is situated. The last time I was there I had the Rolls Royce styled rump steak and it was phenomenal. The portions are large and the food is truly tasty. We have been to plenty of birthday parties there and it is always a blast. The kids play area during the day is also superb. A great vibe and good service as well. We are regulars at this Baron and always have a great time!

This is a place I always have such a good time at. Their position is just awesome; it's easily accessible just there along Witkoppen and it runs a long side the river, which is so pretty. I have been to the Baron plenty and have been happy with the service and food every time. They consistently provide good service and great tasting food. Their aged beef selection is delicious and I've also tried their oxtail and their platters. All the food is delicious and perfectly cooked to how you ordered it. It's a great spot to go to with the kids during the day as they have a great astroturfed play area for the kids and there are child minders. Some days they have face painters there too which my kids just love! The inside restaurant area is great and spacious and having a dinner party here is ideal. You can then move to the bar area. It really gets busy and its a great place to go to have a really good party with your mates. They are a great place to go to watch sports as there are TVs everywhere and has a great vibe inside.
