Review Fireroom Sushi & Grill - Fourways

Althea Maber
First time to the Fire Room had Thai chicken curry with noodles which was really good. We also had flambé calamari which they prepared in front of us. That was quite a treat. Service was excellent friendly gentleman efficient and always available and helpful so he gets 5 stars. Drinks were divine and desert was good I had the cheesecake and my partner had the bar one desert with strawberry sorbet both quite good. Lovely ambience we sat upstairs on the balcony. Would definitely go back to sample the menu.

firstly our waiter Promise, great service. everyone needs to try the Sushi on fire, their livers and bread was just scrumptious, the chicken salad was amazing too and the noodles lacked a bit of flavour. overall the music, atmosphere, service, seating, everything was just great, don't take chances make a reservation

Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! You are in for a real treat, great food, excellent service and exceptional service!! This is definitely a must see. We had so much fun. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, not even to mention the skills of all the waiters. I have never experienced something quite so amazing and out of this world!!!! You will truly have a gap in your life if you don't visit this establishment. Highly highly recommended. Thank you to all who made this experience so pleasurable. #OUTOFTHISWORLD

Best restaurant for Steak and Sushi, hands down. The best so far. I absolutely LOVE the sushi (specifically the Tiger vs Dragon sushi and the Halloumi sushi) I was really impressed with Fireroom. Overall, amazing experience.
Pavee Govender
Love the food and the atmosphere Not a fan of the dessert. Not worth it , it was a fridge cheesecake which was dry and very plain. Let's just say you go there more for the food. Wonderful place overall Always fully booked so book in advance

Fireroom is always a safe place go for if you want to have a nice time. The service is excellent, as the waiter is attentive, very friendly and like to crack some jokes here and there. The manager also made sure we were good by checking up on us once in a while. However, the food was good, but not amazing for the price. All I can say is that, I have had better food for cheaper at other restaurants that specialises in fire sushi/meat. You are basically paying for the pretty fire at the start.

Lovely dinner last night. Food was good, presentation needs some work. We had a great waiter Mtha who made the evening extra special. Will certainly be going back!
Grace
I had such a lovely food experience with my partner. The service was great. The waiter made sure we were well taken care of. For starters we had the pears and the halloumi. BEST HALLOUMI EVER! The pears were well made, really delicious. The sushi was okay. the wagyu burger was delicious. Overall a great experience

It’s always a great experience dining there , the food is amazing, the staff is always friendly and I was in awe with the service of the lady that was looking after our table ‘Nomsa’
Cleola Eayrs
We went there for a friend's birthday. We made a reservation for 10 but ended up with more people than that but our waiter was super understanding and accommodating. The food was delicious as usual! It is always an experience at Fireroom, it was my first time at the Monte Casino one and it did not disappoint. Will definitely be going back to try some of the other items on the menu.

We had a company event and the Monte Casino Fireroom team were fantastic. We had around 50 guests and the service was phenomenal. Waiters were attentive and brilliant with getting orders right. Great atmosphere and memorable experience. Food was generally good. My steak was sinewy and underdone but most of our guests meals were nicely prepared. Starters and mains were delicious and desserts were okay.
Morne Botha
Had a good experience. The food was as expected and the service was very prompt. Scenary just adds to the experience and the waiters know how to deliver on the expectations by telling visitors about specials and when to take pictures to get the th3 best views. Food are presented very well and finished off at the table. Must see and experience
Viven Reddy
The atmosphere and vibes were immaculate. Starters were delicious, the main tasted good but a bit too salty. The entire fire experience was amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Food is always good. The variety of drinks is also great. Make sure you book to avoid disappointment, especially on weekends! I would absolutely recommend it!

An amazing early dinner at Fireroom. David was exceptional and provided excellent friendly service, attention to detail and just so cordial. All of the staff were welcoming and each and everyone greeted as we walked out was such a lovely ambience. The food was absolutely delicious, Chefs we cant wait to visit again. The Oyster *og* brilliant, loved it 😀

Food was well done, the springbok capacio roses was very good, the match of fruits and sauces was well done. Recommend. The prawns was flavourful but for the quantity not worth the price. They did a good job on the tequila sunrise. I like that the sushi uses black rice. Will come again. Lost a star cause we waited really long to be seated, they forgot to let us know.

I was so excited to try this restaurant out but it disappointed . Firstly, their cocktails were disappointing, ordered a berry mojito, I feel like they rob you of the amount of alcohol they supposed to put in it. We ordered a starter. The smoked nachos, we had to wait over a whole hour just to receive it, we had 2 waiters serving us so it was very confusing for them as the forgot to place our order for the nachos when we finally received it,<br/> presentation was spectacular however, it was cold, the cheese had gone hard so it was terrible, we felt like we paid so much just to eat a bag of chips, they used dorito chips. Very disappointing, the service was very disappointing, could not even bring me a glass of water, we ordered the dim sum as well, they couldn't even bring us cutlery for it, not even a side plate, we had no chop sticks for it either. Very disappointing for such a fancy and expensive restaurant.
Lucianrajah
A truly unique experience! I love that fact that almost every dish gets lit on fire right at your table. The venue is classy, staff are friendly and the menu is pretty diverse. Doesn't get five stars because it's not what you'd call cheap. <br/><br/>The signature sushi is a must-try.
Radha Chhita-Nathoo
Exceptional dining experience. We staff is amazing. Management always checked up. Food very good quality. Well priced for a fine dining restaurant. Very big wine selection. Well worth it overall.
Mark.d.kensley
It is simply delicious, the best sushi tried so far in Jozi and amazing when you see flamboyant fire on the signature sushi fireroom❤️
Maxine Roque
Everything there is amazing - especially their sushi

Really disappointed with the staff at Fireroom tonight. We phoned to reserve a table, and were told that they do not take reservations tonight. When we pitched up at the restaurant they told us if we reserved a table there would have been space for us. Terrible service!
Hesti Botha
This was an experience we will never forget. The waitress was so passionate about her job that it added more flavour to the food. The sushi was remarkable as well as the seared tuna and rump on the bone. Will definitely go back.
G&T Couple
The restaurant was packed, and very busy. We sat down stairs, right in front of the service bar and kitchen pass. The couch l sat on was horrible, dirty and broken. The noise from the kitchen and service bar made it difficult to take in the ambience. But it was not all bad.<br/><br/>They have a great wine selection, our waiter was fantastic and the food was exciting and different.<br/><br/>Would go back and try sitting upstairs where it seemed to be less chaotic.

Been here last week for a birthday lunch. Our waiter was great. Flaming sushi was great and had the chicken schnitzel with chips. Had the fried bar one for dessert and every meal was lovely. Good food good service. Will be back. Do try
Misha
My husband and i enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Fire Room. All of the staff from the front of house to the waitresses were all friendly & delightful... I had the dragon vs Tiger sushi which was absolutely amazing! While my husband had a flaming rump steak!
Blake Turner
Staff and service was exceptional. Food and the dining experience was really good. Definitely heading back. Thank you!

Birthday with the Mrs. I was told I have to check out the fire room and their unique take on sushi. Very impressed. Their fire rolls are inspired. We tried the Hong King pears and the monte platter which is a mixture of their offerings. Outstanding. Service was great to boot. Will definitely be back.
TheGirlWithTheBlueHair
My favorite restaurant by far! They pay attention to detail and have really really good food! Would suggest this place for family dinners, birthday dinners or even a hot date!

Finally visited the talked about Fireroom and it did not disappoint. Ordered a variety of food to share and everything was outstanding, tasty and fresh. Ordered prawn and salmon sushi, steaks, soup and much more. Everything was amazing.

Wanted to eat here but before we got to even sit down the hostess was rude enough to chase us away.
Neville Govender
Fantastic place! The sushi was divine and i ordered the flaming sushi. It was a fun experience watching the sushi being flamed in front of us. The service did get a little slow, but picked up again.
Dominique
The staff were very friendly. We were a big table but the food took very long to arrive. <br/>Would’ve given it a higher rating if it wasn’t for this. <br/>Had the sushi and dim sum which was all delicious!
Shanil Haripersad
Service and ambiance is good but the food was not. I ordered the ribs and it was still cold after being flamed. Drenched in butter instead of bbq basting. Hardly any meat on the bone. Thick cold disgusting fat on the bottom of the ribs. Will not be returning.
Kiemay Rangasamy
We came here for a birthday supper and it was the best restaurant, we had an amazing waiter and the price of our meal was really worth the food we got 👍🏼👍🏼
Sudha Johns
This place is beautiful, the set up, people everything really are all outstanding.<br/>The Fire room has an awesome vibe. The food is amazing.....<br/>Loved it.
Alun Ferreira
The Fireroom food served was disappointing<br/>The soup of the day is not soup of the day but rather soup of the month<br/>This is definitely not fine dining experience <br/>The dessert the Nutella pancake and strawberries is tough and chewy and not very desirable at all<br/>Leaves a poor taste in the mouth <br/>
Sue Money
I really enjoyed the sushi, the whole experience was just amazing. the stir fry was average though. Very limited vegetarian options but the veg dim sums are definitely my favorite!
Nadine Fichardt Wray
What an amazing place. Service was fantastic. Food was out of this world and the total experience was just fantastic. Highly recommended this place.
Ellen Betridge
Food, very underwhelming. The sushi we had was oily, stodgy covered in some strange sauce. Hong Kong pears were terrible. Not a great experience.<br/>
Patricia VdB
Just love this place ... The staff is so friendly and efficient. Great decor and ambiance, especially upstairs. Extensive and excellent wine list and menu and the sushi and food is absolutely delish! 5-Star, hence returning. I would suggest making a reservation. Recommend this place.
Neville Giliomee
What a lovely experience. The food was good and the service even better. Dining out is bot just about what is on your plate, it's about the total experience...food, service, ambience and that something special that would always bring you back. Fireroom did just that. Ticked all our boxes. Well done guys. Luelle Van Wyk

Definitely the best Sushi I’ve had! Great restaurant on the “streets” of Monte Casino. The food is amazing and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Dishes are shown to you on a tablet before you order, and they all sound so good that you become spoilt for choice. The signature “Flames” are a great little show before you tuck into your deep fried tasting sushi. Definitely recommend if you trying to start a fire with someone special
Trevor
A great new addition to the Johannesburg dining scene. Fresh new novel approach to sushi. Loved the menu presentation on a mini iPad. Brought offerings to life and made choosing simple. We shared a platter of venison sushi, pears and jalapeno Scrumptious<br/>Mains we ordered dragon rolls more venison sushi and fire roll ( flambe )  <br/>Ambiance was really vibey  Service first rate
Divia Riga
Great FOOD and place! The Fillet on the Bone is delicious, juicy and everything you want from this cut of meat. Try it medium to rare with the mash.

Came here for the first time and was very impressed. Amazing experience! The quality of this place is high. Great service, good drinks and deliciously fresh sushi. Will definitely be back and will bring friends. Thank you Charlie and Co.

My partner and I decided to check out Fireroom while walking around Montecasino on Saturday. She had seen the flaming sushi and beef ribs on Instagram and decided it would be worth the experience. <br/><br/>The service was excellent upon arrival and throughout, we were seated at a very intimate table with a nice view of a section of Montecasino. <br/><br/>We had the flaming beef ribs, flaming sushi and chicken stir fry. We both agreed the food was pretty good and not just the accompanying fire theatrics. Definitely a place I’ll visit again
Hena Bhoolia
Good service and delicious sushi that is fairly priced and not to mention full of theatrics (Fire Sushi is a must try). They have a huge variety on their menu so will definitely go again to try some of their other meals.
Hphike
Amazing place, amazing service, the food tastes as good as it looks, the vibe is great, my friend & I had a waitress by the name of Sherry, she is so lovely, she made our first time experience even better. We are definitely going back. <br/>
Emma Verster
My first experience at the fireroom and I was blown away by every aspect of the experience 🔥 the service, decor, food and flames! My boyfriend took me here for a birthday treat and it sure was a treat! I would go back here in a heartbeat - you guys really topped off my whole birthday celebration!

I placed an order with a waiter who was so polite and friendly for Prawn Fashion sandwiches however they were not on the menu however I was told it would be no problem to make them. I was charged and extra R17 per 8 more expensive then the other Fashion sandwiches on the menu. When I wanted to speak to the GM - she was so busy taking selfies with the hostess in the cash up office that I just left. Besides being overcharged the fashion sandwiches were dry and bland. Won’t go back
Sandi Nyanda
A bit on the pricey side in my opion however the sushi was amazing and totally worth it paid R770 in total for everything in the photo<br/>Wine x2 glasses<br/>Sushi on fire x2<br/>Regular california rolls x2<br/>Dim sum(very small not worth the money)<br/>Mojito(good size)<br/>Sticky wings
HungryFitGirl
If you are about visuals and want to experience a unique way of eating sushi, then I can definitely recommend Fireroom. However, the flavors do not really justify the price of the food. Overall, a pleasant experience with class. Service was also great!

I was at the restaurant for dinner yesterday and I was unfortunately really disappointed with my food. <br/>The kitchen got my steak order wrong twice; seasoning and cut as well as how I wanted my steak done. <br/>I am really disappointed - as I requested that I speak with the manager and my waiter never relayed my message to the manager on site. <br/><br/>I am really disappointed as otherwise the venue and the flair that they do the food with is amazing.

Experience dining for sure! A friend and I arrived a little early but we were accommodated quite well while waiting for our table. I love the fact that both our waitress and the manger introduced themselves to us. The service was great. We ordered the fire roll which is their popular dish and I must say it was worth it. Definitely coming back
Fiona Hao
I went when it was relatively empty and made a reservation of which they assigned us upstairs. The service was good. We ordered tiger and dragon sushi as well as the monster sushi. Both dishes had well-rounded flavours and did not require soy sauce.<br/><br/>For those who don't have alcohol, the fire sushi is not advised as the waiter mentioned that they definitely use alcohol.<br/><br/>For the halal: please remember fermentation process of soy sauce produces a percentage of alcohol. This restaurant serves Kikkoman which has 2-3% of alcohol.
FatCake101
What caught my eye to come to this place is the way they make their sushi’s with the fire ! It is very unique ! This place also has many vegetarian options and the service was excellent ! The manager was able to cater for our needs as vegetarians. Must say the desserts were unreasonably overpriced, else the rest of the food was amazing ! It left me speechless especially the vegetarian crunch.
Azrah Kadwa
A great and busy place indeed. If you’re a non-alcoholic order the blow torched sushi to still experience the fire theatrics. Service is efficient.
Megz Mackintosh
I’m so glad I finally tried this restaurant! It didn’t disappoint.. I can’t remember our waiters name but he was so friendly and very attentive. We started off with some pulled pork and edamame bean spring rolls that were to die for (definitely the best I’ve had). And our one friend had the dumplings that she really enjoyed. For mains we had the signature fire roll which was delicious.. the only aspect I didn’t quite enjoy was the taste of the alcoholic sauce they use to light the sushi. It was very strong and quite overpowering but other than that it was a great experience!

We were a table of 6 that ordered drinks while waiting to be seated. Once seated the RedSquare did not arrive. After we questioned it the waitress then informed us that they don't have red square. We suggested that she give us a shot of vodka and Redbull. The food here is okay and extremely over priced for the service that is received. When the food was served, the table was so cluttered with empty cans and unused glasses that there was barely place for the Tomahawk steak that was served or our plates that some of us were eating at awkward angles. The steak then started dripping onto one of my friends pants because of the awkward position that it was in. The presentation of the food for the price that you pay is a little unimpressive as well. The food tasted great though. Sushi was excellent quality. Tuna steak was delicious! Tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection and so delicious. However if you want great food with even better service for half the price rather go to Throbbing Strawberry or Doppio Zero. This restaurant is overrated.
Andrea Schaffner
Absolutely outstanding, we were blown aware by the flavors and variety. Loved it and service was fantastic. Would recommend it to anyone who loves a sushi experience that is different to any other
Kyle
The food was really very good at the Fire room with excellent and different sushi varieties. Even though the place was really busy the service was also very good. I like the menu its something different that Monte needs.

We discovered the Fireroom after it was recommended to us. If you haven't experienced the Fireroom, you should. You are missing out. When you walk into the Fireroom you feel like your in another country, another place. The staff have extensive knowledge of the menu and how the food is prepared. Service levels are top class. We ordered the signature Fireroom Sushi and the rump. The fire sushi is some of the best that you will find. A definite win. Overall a great experience.
Loveroffood
We had a reservation at the fireroom last night and we were warmly welcomed by the amazing staff. Ken was our waiter and really made the experience even more exciting, he was really friendly, definitely a 5 star for him. <br/>The sushi, meat and seafood was delicious, from the non-house specials to their house speciality dishes. <br/>The decor and ambiance was modern, lively, loud and warming. Definitely a favorite.
Gerrit Rautenbach
When you arrive at the Fireroom, you are greeted warmly and take inside. Once your insides you’ll be amazed by die beautiful decor and attention to detail.<br/>Massive menue to choose from for the whole family. We specifically recommend the wagyu beef burger, hands down the best burger in Gauteng.

No words to describe what was probably one the most amazing foodie experiences of my life. Sushi was out of this world, on a whole other level of sushi I never new existed... I always thought my home town Cape Town made the best sushi but boy was I wrong. I don’t think I could enjoy sushi anywhere else. This is a must must must try for sushi lovers
Priya
Hubby and decide to go to monte for a Sunday night out.<br/>I was feeling for sushi and read some great reviews of this place from a group on Facebook. <br/><br/>I liked the fact that their menus can be easily viewed outside first. We were greeted by friendly staff who were waiting for us to decide if we want to eat there or not, which we did. We were offered a choice of 3 different areas to sit. We opted for inside. <br/><br/>Our waitress almost immediately came over and introduced herself and offered us something to drink. <br/>We chose coffee (which is our default). <br/><br/>I ate with my eyes so I ordered the monte platter (which consisted of 4 tiger rolls, 4 dragon rolls, 4 fire rolls and 6 springbok) and hubby ordered the wagyu burger. <br/><br/>So now we wait...Managers were attentive and came to check up on us. <br/><br/>When our food arrived it was presented beautifully and the portion sizes were quite large. <br/><br/>Our waitress put on a show with the fire roll. She poured the sauce which lit up my sushi and explained what she was doing during every step. <br/><br/>Now for the actual review :)<br/>The fire roll was superb, however, I didn’t like the sauce at all. The waitress told me what it was but couldn’t remember, but that didn’t ruin it thankfully since I enjoyed the crispyness of the fire roll. <br/><br/>The springbok was fantastic. This is the second time I’ve tried springbok sushi and I was not disappointed. The flavors worked really well for me. <br/><br/>The tiger roll was a bit chewy with that sweet sauce and crumbs, but still tasty nonetheless. <br/><br/>The dragon roll was also good. That sauce I was telling you about seeped into those so I didn’t enjoy it as much but it was still good. <br/><br/>Overall a great experience with fresh, tasty, great portion sized sushi. <br/><br/>I will definitely be back, bringing other people along hopefully.
Deysellydia
Made a reservation and was warmly welcomed. Our waiter was amazing in his descriptions of the different dishes. <br/><br/>For the cocktails - he brought a variety of gins to the table showed us the flavors and what they go well with.<br/><br/>My family enjoyed every dish that they were served. I highly recommend the flavor filled edemame beans as starters.<br/><br/>The flaming sushi platter was Devine. The pancake dessert was prepped at our table. <br/><br/>I highly recommend The Fire Room. Would of given it a 5 star but one of the ingredients was not on one of my sushi dishes
The Happy Pig
Service was fast, enthusiastic, friendly and efficient. Clearly note that much time is spent on proper staff training. Food - bang average I'm afraid. At above average prices. Glad we went but "been there done that" .
Dani Kofsky
Went for dinner the other night with quite a large group of friends (14 of us). They handled our large group extremely well, ensuring we all ordered at once, got our meals at once and made sure our wine glasses were filled at all times. Our waiter and waitress were both very attentive and friendly. The food is nice, I feel that all the fire adds the something special to the food. Excluding the fire the actual sushi was average, the dim sum was average. Their chicken stir fry was delicious!<br/>Overall it's a great experience! Something you have to do once, don't know if I'll rush back.
Liza Richard
For a casino restaurant this place is great. Waiters are attentive and understand the menu well. The table ordered gin and tonic for drinks and the waiter brought a selection to us to choose from. That was a nice touch. <br/><br/>I ordered the salmon poke bowl which was well presented and reasonably priced. <br/><br/>The downside of the experience was that the food took a very long time (45min) and we were somewhat rushed to order. They seated us in the non-smoking section upstairs that was across from the smoking area and the waiters kept leaving the door open so the smoke drifted to our area. We informed the waiters and they made an effort to try and keep it closed but it was enough to not stay there for dessert. <br/><br/>If the smell of smoke is an issue maybe be specific about your table Location when booking.
Melissa Marengo
Definitely worth visiting, their signature Fire Room Sushi is divine. The theatrics are entertaining and something totally different. Waiters are friendly and great at explaining. However on a Thursday night we sat at 7:30pm, ate mains at 9pm and dessert came at 10:13pm...so quite the wait. The Bar One dessert was deep fried bar ones, a scoop of average strawberry ice cream and a smearing of Nestle Treat on the plate. I wasn’t a fan. I’d definitely go again to give it a second chance
Akie Chhabra
Highly recommend the Edamame Beans and the Fire Tempura Rolls! Fantastic! 👌<br/><br/>Probably one of the hidden touches about this place worth exploring is the waiter’s impeccable knowledge about the menu & specials; they literally explain everything from start to finish!
Elmien.mostert
Excellent service from the waiters - they know the menu and have tasted the food to know what to recommend. <br/>We had fillet on the bone which was excellent - perfectly medium throughout with tasty side dishes and sauces. The poke bowls and kingklip thermidor looked and tasted fantastic. It is a little more expensive than other restaurants but definitely every cent worth it.<br/>If you want an evening with good service and good food and not have any disappointments, you can try Fireroom.
Nastassja Masher
Fireroom is an amazing restaurant, their steaks are the best by far, the springbok roses are absolutely delicious, every sushi on the menu (yes I tried them all) is innovative, fun and tasty. The service I good and the owner is extremely welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend them.
Mariska
Thank you for a delightful evening. We had the sweetest waitress. My meal was delicious. Wish I had taken more pics. The drinks were very yummy. I never really enjoyed gin, but after my experience at your restaurant, I have found a new love for it. Thank you. I will be back soon.

We decided to see what all the hype was about and booked at Fireroom for dinner. We weren’t disappointed. We were seated upstairs where Numsa and Solly looked after us. They were both excellent, note to other restaurants... training your staff properly makes a massive difference. My partner opted for 3 small dishes, she had the duck spring rolls, halloumi and the berry sushi roses. All 3 were good but the highlight for her was the sushi. I had the fire roll which is tempura sushi which is set alight in front of you. I was a bit sceptical but it was excellent, maybe a touch too much mayo but I’m being hyper critical . I then had the fillet on the bone which was flambé (see photo) . It was Spectacularly Delicious. The managers popped over to see if all was good, they were attentive but not intrusive, a lesson to all managers. It’s an important difference. All in all a fun evening, not cheap but worth it. We’ll definitely be back

Came here last week Friday to celebrate my aunts 30th. Loved the vibe and the food. I even tried sushi for the first time but the ribs stole my heart😍
Kev0's Food Adventures!
They set your food on fire, what’s not to like? So we were finally able to get a booking at fire room, we had the fried calamari and Hong Kong Pears for starters. The calamari was a bit bland and needed some salt, the Hong Kong Pears were really good! For mains we had the sushi on fire, dragon rolls and salmon fashion sandwiches. The dragon rolls were really good, I’m not so sure the deep fried sushi which was then set on fire is for me, but it was something different. Service was great and staff were on the ball! Book early in the week to avoid disappointment.
Kayla Solomi
Absolutely delicious food!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ didn’t feel like sushi, but we looked at the other tables and it looked incredible!! The food we had was devine!!! Would recommend this restaurant over and over again!!! The staff are amazing, all so attentive and constantly asking if you’re okay and if the food is alright!!! Will definitely be back again!

I can categorically say that I have never had such exceptional service in any restaurant. <br/><br/>My husband and I went for dinner on Saturday night. I had the Fire Roll (Crispy California roll, salmon, jalapeno, Kewpie mayo, cream cheese and Yakitori sauce) - which was set alight at our table. It was really tasty and I would order it again. <br/><br/>My husband had the fillet on the bone which was also set alight at our table, giving it a really delicious braaied flavour. The cut seemed a bit small and we questioned the grams with our excellent & friendly waiter Richard. A minute later, the manager Driaan appeared and offered to exchange it for another cut. We declined the kind offer and started eating. The fillet was the most tender delicious fillet we have ever tasted! <br/><br/>When my husband was half way through his meal, Driaan appeared with a brand new plate of food and swapped out the half eaten plate for a brand new one, saying he wanted to make sure we were really happy! <br/><br/>We were recommended a deconstructed pink gin cheesecake for dessert, with Oreo crumble, berry coulis and popping candy imported from Spain. We don’t usually eat dessert but it sounded so good, we decided to share it and we were so glad we did! It was really sublime. We were a little shocked at the price though - R92.<br/><br/>Overall, I’d give 10/10 for service and 10/10 for food quality and taste. FireRoom has new fans! <br/>
Hylton Oosthuizen
Food was amazing. The mango and ginger salsa with the halloumi, was smooth and well balanced with a sweet light ginger taste. The dumplings was light and fluffy and the cheese and fillet filling just made it rich and creamy. But our favorite of all our dishes was the Springbok roses. Was light and creamy and with the balsamic reduction just lifts the whole dish to a norther level. Service was amazing and staff was friendly and knew their menu extremely well. All the food is on another level. Didn't receive a dich that we did not love.
Juriewilken
Really just a great all round experience. Everything that came from the kitchen just looked amazing. Cant wait to go back. Cocktails are the best

After hearing good reports we ventured to monte although not our favorite place . The manager moved us inside without a problem - request this when booking . I would request a table with chairs not the booth seats - very low and uncomfortable. Waiter was attentive and patient whilst we chose wine - which took a while the list of Chardonnay on offer was limited . Edamame beans were smothered in a marmite tasting sauce which didn’t work . Calamari in too much batter , halo Uli was tasty. We order the flaming sushi - which didn’t taste like sushi , rather a mushy cream cheese roll smothered in “fantasy sauce” - a big no .. <br/>Sorry won’t be back ... don’t get it .
Christos Baronos
For starters we had the signature sushi, edamame beans and poke bowl. All were fantastic. For mains I had the fillet on the bone, which is one of the best I have ever eaten. The gin cocktails were also fantastic. Great experience and will definitely recommend it and come back
Margie
What a very different sushi experience - very different - and absolutely delicious. We tried most of the dishes that were new - and alternative to the usual sushi dishes - wow what an explosion of the most amazing flavours ! Fired sushi is different - and absolutely delicious - it’s sushi on a different level - and if you enjoy sushi you have to try it !

This restaurant was chosen by friends who are sushi enthusiasts ,at the last minute. At first the idea of trying sushi wasn’t appealing to me but after trusting my friends judgement, boy was I in for a surprise!!! Thepresentation is thrilling...I guess they really do use fire at this restaurant!!! The sushi is amazing and I’ll definitely try it again! <br/>I ordered the usual Rump for my main course and it was theatrically presented to me, with the sauce begin out on fire over the rump🔥..however that was the most exciting part of the Rump...I'd give the steak a solid 3/5 rating...<br/>If you love sushi then you'll love this place!!! <br/>The atmosphere is great and staff are friendly.
Bianca
This is hands down one of my favourite restaurants, we had a lovely time here. Look it is extremely busy here all the time and when you visit make sure to book ahead and have a good couple of hours to enjoy yourself. We did not mind the wait at all.<br/><br/>I had the flaming sushi, it was devine! From the flames to the last bite it was fantastic. The salmon you can taste is super fresh, and the flames just adds that bit of crunch to the rice it's beautiful.<br/><br/>The meal is definitely entertaining and delicious.<br/><br/>Loved this place, would definitely go back.

When the team arrived at Monte, there was a choice of 2 restaurants and I decided on Fireroom since I’ve been at the other restaurant a couple of times. We were welcomed at the entrance and shown to a lovely “outside” table. Pity I can’t remember the waiter’s name, but he made us feel at home. Showed us the picks of the day on his tablet with a description and picture to go with it which I felt was quite good. We opted for starters first (sushi, wings (delicious!!!)). I was very impressed with the wings (7 spices, etc etc). Sushi (fashion sandwiches and some others) were very good too. I sampled the springbok carpaccio sushi. I was highly impressed! For mains we had the fillet on the bone and an African Sushi Platter (wowie). Fillet was cooked to perfection and I had a bite of the fireroll - wow...tasty and also a bit on the spicy side. All and all, good experience. I will be back!

Best sushi in South Africa! Wow! The sushi in fire on to die for! The taste is incredible! Went here for my birthday dinner and it exceeded every expectation! Staff were so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and good, the food itself was 11/10 and everything else was great! Will be back 1000 times over!

The absolute best sushi i’ve ever had and a complete different experience with the fired up sushi choices. The restaurant looks great and has ample seating. The service from the waiters were non existent though.

Decided to see what the hype was all about and took an overseas client. What we experienced was underwhelming. The service was so non existent that I landed up going to get menus for desert. The meal took 2.5 hours due to the lack if service.<br/>The flaming sushi with salmon and cream cheese had a sour initial taste and then was quite tasty but not very well packed.. Definitely not worth the price. The 850g steak to share was only enough for one person due to the massive bone weight attached.<br/>The fillet was good.<br/>Nothing I would go back for<br/>

Wow! Fantastic food and great service! I love fresh .,light food that is not too loaded... But the sushi was delicious! The California rolls and of course their signature flamed fire sushi was to die for.... Tuna poke bowl even converted some of the most serious red meat eaters in our party... But beware... It is a big portion... Sharing of everything is recommended...<br/>

F I R E R O O M<br/>WOW what an experience.<br/><br/>As they say "We gave ordinary the day off"<br/><br/>From the moment we walked in the service was superb. The food so delicious. We love going to Villa Bianca and when I read on a Facebook post that Fire Room was from the same owners as them and Wasabi I thought let's give it a try!<br/><br/>After our meal we wanted to watch the soccer upstairs there where no tables available but they MADE a plan to accommodate us.<br/><br/>Thanks for a wonderful evening!

Once again a wonderful experience at the Fireroom.<br/><br/>The springbok carpaccio is the best carpaccio that I have ever had. If you have not tried it before do so as you will not be disappointed.<br/><br/>The sushi is just the best. The best sushi in Johannesburg. <br/><br/>Not only is the food great but the service is wonderful. The staff are attentive, very friendly and knowledgeable. Probably the best serving staff in Johannesburg. <br/><br/>A must try for those that have not been before.

Great food especially the sushi menu. Great waitress, however good food takes a while to make. I will come back for the sushi. We need great institutions like this!

Yes, it’s worth all the hype and then some! It’s also advised that you make a booking! We came through on Thursday night and thank goodness we’d made a booking! The service was outstanding, apart from the drinks taking a while to get to us.. The food is divine! The sushi on fire is a must try and the fillet on the bone is to die for!

On one of the rare occasion do I have dinner with a group of friends and we decided to come to this much talked about restaurant.<br/><br/>Knowing that being month end, being a Friday evening, I made a table reservation ahead of time for 1800hrs.  We were seated upstairs next to the staircase.  Though it was a high traffic area, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  But before that, we were warmly greeted by the Manager at the hostess stand, a charming fellow built like a rugby forward but with the most soft spoken manner.  <br/><br/>Our waitress - Phumla, was a lovely waitress who was constantly topping up my friends' sparkling wine throughout the dinner.  She was very knowledgeable with the various food items.  She was a star in her own right.<br/><br/>Various other managers also stopped by our table and I give full marks for all staff, both ground and managerial for their very engaging manner.<br/><br/>The food was quite your visual affair.  With the various flambé sushi and grill items, it was naturally very spectacular.  The speciality sushi, ie the fiery ones were all good in their own way.  We also tried some of the "normal" sushi and they in our opinion was a little underwhelming unfortunately.<br/><br/>I tried to set aside my concerns about that this is all just a "show" and that the sushi would be just tasty but not wow.  However, I must say that my concerns were allayed.<br/><br/>There was a constant buzz and there were rarely any empty tables and I'm very glad that I had made a table booking, else we would have floundered.<br/><br/>It is one of those "special occasion" restaurant as it was somewhat pricey but I think it would still continue to attract a lot of customers in quite some time to come.

We had tried to get in here once before without a booking, with no luck. This time we decided to try again on a whim, as we unexpectedly found ourselves child free.<br/><br/>We were seated at a small table for 2, outside the main restaurant, and our waitress was on the ball and introduced herself quickly thereafter.<br/><br/>We asked for the specials and she reeled them off, cleverly working the wine we had just ordered, into her recommendations, as to which dishes it would suit.<br/><br/>We decided on duck spring rolls, fillet and cream cheese dumplings, haloumi fingers and a dragon roll.<br/><br/>The spring rolls were a little over flavored with what seems to be Indian spices, which I think overtook the duck flavour. The dumplings were much smaller than imagined, but yummy little balls of flavour.<br/><br/>The haloumi was served with a mango and ginger purée and was AMAZING! Could eat this for daaazzzzze.<br/><br/>And the dragon roll? So good we almost ordered another.<br/><br/>But in the end we decided to go for a desert instead. The bar one sliders were incredibly rich, and perfectly balanced with a strawberry sorbet.<br/><br/>Yum. Great good. Efficient and clever service, although lacking a bit of interaction, a lovely meal out. Customers seemed to be a mix of date nights, girls birthday night out and large family tables. We didn’t try any of their signature flambé dishes, maybe next time...🔥

Tonight was date night and we weren’t sure which restaurant to pick at Monte. Fireroom looked enticing just from the passage. We walked around and looked at other options but Fireroom still seemed like the one for us. <br/><br/>From the moment we stepped in we were treated like VIP’s. Our waitress Sandra was lovely!! The presentation of specials and food was impeccable. <br/><br/>The sushi on fire is to die for. I definitely recommend that!! <br/><br/>Our mains were delicious. I had the ribs, soft, succulent and so juicy... <br/><br/>I was a happy guest and would define hi back again

After all the hype around this place, I decided to try it however I was not impressed at all.<br/>The staff are well trained, friendly & very informative about the menu but that does not make up for the tasteless food, the halloumi was oily and the sauce served with the calamari tasted like water with a teaspoon of black pepper.<br/>The cocktails and sushi were enjoyable but not great!<br/>I won't be returning to the Fireroom anytime soon!

Fathersday dinner - what a treat. We had sushi. The African platter was spectacular. Difficult to pick a favorite on the platter but the Springbok roses were awesome. Remember to order the nutella and strawberry pancake to end with some theatre. Awesome service and great ambiance to counter those Sunday blues. We will definitely Be back.

Great menu and wine selection. Excellent service from our waiter Gideon. Vast food selection on the menu - meat, seafood and of course their signature sushi. Everything tasted fantastic. Good choice for a night out at Monte!

A must! <br/><br/>Service was beyond excellent! The staff were friendly, entertaining and informative. I love the idea of showing pictures of your specials off the tablet! <br/><br/>For starters I had the springbok carpaccio rolls- I am allergic to fish so it was great to join in the “sushi hype”, such a unique spin! <br/><br/>Main course I enjoyed the fillet on the bone- being the carnivorous I am it was honestly the softest, juiciest fillet I have had in a very long time! It was flambéed at the table adding to the ambiance of the restaurant. <br/><br/>I can not find one single fault to point out! Thank you for such an unforgettable evening! <br/><br/>
