No nonsense, true Italian authentic food. If you are looking for pretentious fine dining, don’t go there. But if you are looking for the real deal, this is has to be your first choice. The pizzas were amazing. The owner is old school Italian. It felt like a little joint on the coast off Napoli it the Amalfi - but not the tourist traps, the local hangouts!
Awesome place! Awesome food! Awesome owner! If you think he's too harsh for you then go sit in your safe space and drink tea with your gluten-free pizza. This is authentic Italian - if you haven't been to Italy, don't comment.
This place is a real gem. Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once you’re inside you really feel like you’re in a cafe in Italy. Pizzas are incredible, seriously some of the best I’ve ever had. Can’t believe Dominos across the road gets any business at all. Also the bolognese is probably the best I’ve had, delicious. Awesome atmosphere, delicious food, great owner.
Interesting, unique place. You could easily miss this place. The roof and walls are full of Italian memorabilia and personal photos of the owner, and he sits in the middle of the restaurant shouting orders. Pizza's are nice bit different than usual with no tomato base as that is "American" and not Italian.
My type of spot. Small, quaint and unique. Walls and ceilings plastered with Italian memorabilia and pictures. And the entire place is dominated by the owner sitting in state and directing operations!
Had a quick pizza here while waiting for a meeting. Very tasty, you can taste the home made dough and fresh ingredients. Menu has only pasta, pizza and salad - but this is a spot I will visit again.
If you are looking for the last word in authentic, look no further than this delightful anachronism situated in Fish Hoek's Main Road and step into a world of Neapolitan flair, kitch and home cooking. Go before it is too late. It's a delicious slice of life. You won't forget the true Italian taste. You probably will not have the pleasure otherwise unless you see Naples itself. And die. The owner is a delight.
Authentic Napolese food prepared authentically by a native of Napoli. Be prepared for interesting banter and exquisite food. It's more than just dinner. It's an institution.
There's a bunch of polarizing reviews about this place. Here's the thing - this is the 'anti-franchise'. Sure, it's a small place filled with the larger than life personality of the owner...but we loved it! The owner is passionate about food and how to eat it. We were berated for a few minor trespasses (my four year old son attempted to eat pasta with a spoon, lol) but we were never made to feel unwelcome, quite the opposite in fact. The two pizzas we ate were just great and my wife enjoyed her veg lasagna. Eat at this place - the food is great and the theater comes for free. Bit on the pricey side but only if you compare it to franchise fast food affairs.
Amazing pizza, amazing company, the place has a lot of character and I recommend it highly. The most authentic and genuine Italian dinner that I've had in a long time.
So absolutely authentic Italian. Good grief! Even got a talking to for having an espresso before my meal! Atmosphere is great, quirky with every piece of paraphernalia adorning the walls. Owner is straight forward, borders on rude, until you understand cultural differences and that the transfer of funds is about the experience and not so much the food itself.
Talking about food my son enjoyed a margarita with bacon and mushrooms, beautiful wood fired pizza with crispy crust and that semi-chewy delicious center.
My salad arrived after my espresso (naughty me) but the lettuce was gritty.
All in all a place to experience just for ambiance and owner, pizza and pasta looks great, but make sure you have a coffee after your meal. 😉
If you're one of those poncy mincing metro males or caked-on makeup city snobs looking for cordon bleu and silver service then you're too stupid and don't deserve to sit at an authentic Italian restaurant. The owner shouts, waves his arms about and tells you what you should be eating (do not order a cappuccino during the day or before your meal!) because he is a dinkum Italian. Go with the flow, enjoy his character (which is like a tornado in a porcelain store) and accept that the food he makes is the REAL thing - not some fast food ripoff of proper Italian food - so if you don't like it, then you should never visit Italy because that's how they do it there. Bad reviews can only come from people without a sense of adventure let alone a sense of humour. We will be going back, many times for the great food and laughter!

Thank you for an amazing Italian experience on the grounds of Cape Town.
The food was absolutely amazing pizza and the pasta! W3 enjoyed the wine, ambience and quint beauty of this restaurant.
Highly recommend to anyone who wants authentic Italian dishes filled with so much love and goodness!
Will definitely be back
Xx
Authentic italian cuisine. This restaurant has a great spirit, a sort of "where everybody knows your name" feel to it. The Seafood pizza is out of this world, portions are huge and prices are decent. Old family restaurant - an institution in Fishhoek
Pizzas are really special. Perfectly seasoned, chicken was moist with a flavor that speaks to you like a best friend. I have not been this satisfied with a restaurant in quite some time. This place is a winner. Doubt provocing at first blush but it all comes together with your first bite!!
Superb food. Absolutely wonderful. This was our first time eating here and we had the most divine food and service. The pizza is outstanding, and so is the pasta. They have gluten free pasta, the pizza though is not gluten free, it is super delicious though. I highly recommend the putanesca pasta. They do takeaways, but sitting down in this cute place is a much better option.
Has gotten mixed reviews because of how passionate the very hands on owner can be, but the food and atmosphere is top notch! The owner is very present and is a total character, which is hugely entertaining if you go in with the right attitude. If you're slow picking up a to-go order, expect an earful, because "this is REAL Italian food and it must be eaten HOT!" Great pizza!
Next to Fish Hoek train station I had a great and tasty Italian meal. Sam the owner is so sweet and put love in the food. After an incompréhension of the menu from my side, she proposed so promptly to cook again the meal. For sure I’ll be back next time in Fish Hoek!
We ordered a takeaway Seafood Pasta and it was superb. Definitely worth the price and it was big enough for 2.
Awesome place! Awesome food! Awesome owner! If you think he's too harsh for you then go sit in your safe space and drink tea with your gluten-free pizza. This is authentic Italian - if you haven't been to Italy, don't comment.
I have been there twice in the last week and both times the food was simply outstanding. The last time, on my own, the owner and hands on Italian manager 77yr old Bernardo, invited me to his table, where I ordered what turned out to be probably the most delicious putanesca pasta I've ever had. Bernardo takes pride, the food is authentic Italian, and he barks at his staff all the time to keep it good. Do yourself a favour and look beyond some admittedly shabby decor and don't miss it!
Oh WOW! Am I blown away by my Take-Away meal tonight?! Absolutely the Best tasting Pizza and Most Amazing Gluten free, Yes people, the Most Amazing GLUTEN FREE Spaghetti I've tasted in 10 years literally. Bernardo, Emanuel, Elijah you guys Rock! Not only did you take the time to talk to us and made us feel incredibly Welcome, you went above and beyond and indulged my picky eating and happily allowed me to chop and change ingredients and sauces to create a Delicious Creamy Chicken Spaghetti that was Spectacular! You've got a whole family added to your Fan Club.
The service was very friendly, they were always smiling. This pizza was delicious!!! The decorations are so adorable and they are very interesting. I would 100% recommend.
Delicious, authentic Italian pizza and pasta. Their bases aren’t heavy at all. Quaint atmosphere. Feels like a bit of Italy in the Cape. Mountain views too.
