So kom my gibbes mos toe vandag hier aangewals. Sê ons moet gaan middag maak daar dour waar ons nog nie was nie. Ek sê nee maar ek wil dit hê, en Liewe Lettie en ek spring met onse gatte daar in die lorrie in en neuk hier berg-oor Ek het daar neffens ou Paultjie Cluver se plaas 'n bordjie gewaar wat praat van 'n rokery gedoente en ons beur suintoe. Maar man, is dit nou vir jou 'n feesbesigheid. Die plek is stampvol, maar ons kry daar 'n ou gaatjie en maak sit. So 'n oulike klimeid wat ken van die klas van dinge, beveel 'n gimmerbier aan en vertel ons hoe die bedryfie nou eintlik werk. My oog vang die beesbors, maar die rib affêre lees net so lekker. Ek en Liewe Lettie besluit ons deel en ons sit onse bestelling in. Dis nou beesbors en rib en koolslaai en weergebraaide boontjies en kapok ertappels en tjips, want my hart se punt vrek oor tjips, al sê ou Tim Noakes ook nou sy moet stadig met die goeters Terwyl ons nou so sit wag dat hulle aflewer, kry ek rooklus en stap op die werf op om skyf te trek. Kom toe daar by 'n afdak geneuk waar 'n man werskaf. Dis nou die rookkamer vertel hy. Hy het daar 'n gat in die grond waar hy 'n vuur met appelhout stook. Langes die is nou so 'n drie by ses voet praalgraf gedoente met 'n gat aan die vuurkant. Hy is so halflyf diep met 'n blikdeksel. Daarin lê nou bees vleise en vark vleise, netjies toegedraai in blink pampier en die rokie warrel so om hulle. As ek die ding nou so bekyk, lyk dit vir my hy is al van vroedag af aan't stook en werskaf. Ek wou nog so bietjie uitvra, want hier op my dronktrippie oor die water destyds, het ek daar op Highway 10 neffens El Paso ook op so 'n gedoente afgekom, maar die Thunderbirds, dis nou Tequila en Tabasco sous, het my partykeer dinge laat sien wat ek nie kan reg onthou nie. Maar ek val my nou self in die rede. Die klimeid kom sê toe ons kan maar aansit. Maar ek sê vir jou, ek maak sit daar voor 'n houtplank met 'n bruinpampiertjie op. En in die middel lê daar nou vir jou 'n stuk beesbors met so 'n vetstreep aan die eenkant. Hy is soos saffies soos haaspoefies en jy het nou nie eers 'n mes nodig vir hom nie. Voor Liewe Lettie plak hulle 'n stuk beesrib neer wat drip van die sous. En daar staan 'n flessie kapok ertappels gemaak met karringmelk. Ek proe proe hom so met die vinger saam en die suurgheit sit so liggies op die tong. En daai weergebraaide boontjies slat die jackpot. So lekker souserig. Nie soos daai droeës lang die Rio Grande nie. Dié het my altyd laat verlang na wurrepatat. Die koolslaaitjie het dan glad vir jou anys in. Ek weet hier vreet ons ons vandag binne in onse moere in aan die bank kos. Ons deel onse vleisies en so halfpad deur merk my hart se punt op sy is nou al so dik soos 'n donnerweer, maar die lekkerte wil net nie opraak nie. Toe ek so terugsit en die souse uit myse baard uitvee, toe lê daar nog net een tjippie in die bak en die is saam met die skottelgoed daar weg By die poering kom ons nie eers uit nie, want plek is daar nie meer nie. Ek drink darem 'n espresso'jtie, gemaak van die pitte uit daai swart slopie met die bloupers groothond op, ja ek kon wragtag proe dis Terbodore, terwyl ek wag vir die pampiertjie met die pryse. Ek sit wonder nog watter ledemate ek sal moet prysgee, maar tot my verbasing is dit toe by billik verby en my linkerbal is veilig. Ek sê toe daar vir Liewe Lettie ons sal nou iewers op 'n grondpad moet afdraai dat ons hierdie kosse in gaatjies in kan stamp. Daar van Botrivier af maak ons toe so. Ons ry langpad hier deur die plase Vyeboom se kant toe. Die wêreld is mooi groen en die mofskape lyk vet. Ons verlekker ons aan nattigheitjie langs die pad en sneeu op die berge. Op die draadloos speel daar 'n musiekkie van vergange dae Jereweet, menswees was nog nooit so lekker nie

What an authentic, incredible experience! The food is exceptional! The brisket and slaw is especially delicious and decor is so true to what they are trying to create from an experience point of view! Most of all the owners make you feel really looked after, customer service at it's best! Highly recommend it and worth the drive which only took 50 mins from Cape Town!

Easygoing atmosphere with a pitmaster keen to show what and how he does the good meat. Great southern music and great beer to go with good smoked tendergood quality beef pork and fowl Sides are damn good and the sauces are homemade yummy. Altogether a great experience far removed from the usual fast food yucky stuff.

I have driven past it so many times before and eventually curiosity got the better of me. What an awesome meal of the Pulled Pork, pan fried toast and chips. A good 500ml of Native Ale to go with the meal.....More surprised on how fulling the meal was (and I can eat)!! Worth every penny and will most definitely be back again for round two, three and hell....round one thousand!! Absolutely worth the stop.

According to my husband, who has been to Texas to taste real meat, this is as authentic as it can get. This is our type of place, where you don't have to drench the food in sauces, to make it taste like something, although the chilli sauce was my favorite.

Had the pleasure of chowing down on the most ridiculous nachos and brisket!! I mean melt in your mouth soft tender and juicy....just ridiculous! Lourensford Makret is lucky to have this gem and the amazingly friendly people running the stall!! I cant wait to try more at the restaurant :)

We went here for our 1 year anniversary and their staff couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. The service was lightning fast, the food was excellent and the prices were low. A perfect afternoon in beautiful Grabouw.

What an absolutely amazing experience yet again! 10/10 for everything! Pork ribs were my fav but that's coz I'm a rib snob! 😋 highly recommend the platter for 4 as u get to try different items off the menu. Owners were so friendly, felt like we were home away from home! Cannot wait to return again! It's a MUST when travelling either to Elgin or pass it too!

A stopover on the way to Hermanus and I’m so glad we found this place. OMG the smoked Ribs are soooo tender and flavourful. The wings and taco also good but nothing could beat those ribs. The owner came out and spoke with us which was nice. Btw the margaritas were outstanding 🤣

Beautiful Sunday and driving home from a weekend away. What a treasure... Everything was top notch. My wife and I shared the sliders... Was too hungry to take pics... And the Craft beer (Blonde Ale and Lager) was amazing.

Delicious food. Lovely succulent beef brisket. Ribs fell off the bone with lovely flavor too. Chicken slider burger was excellent. Good chips and delicious slaw.

Came for the Smaked meats and was not disappointed. Would recommend to anyone. Was so good, we got Smoked Eisbein to take home, so dinner is sorted. Bubblegum milkshake was the correct colour: Blue

A hidden gem! Upon arrival we were greeted by brisket, a very friendly cat who promptly lead us to the staff of Hickville. A real southern feel with a covered canopy, which during summer can be opened up to reveal the iverburg mountains. We found a nice corner with some sun filtering through keeping us warm. This is a smokehouse, and you can expect sumptuous fall off the bone southern Texas style cooking. Think the movie chef! The Warden and I had lapped down on the hilariously titled craft brew from Folk & Goode, say it real fast! The blonde ale, IPA and lager were very refreshing. Our daughter had their homemade cut fries, very tasty. The staff were friendly and laughing, making our visit very relaxed and vibey. They even gave our daughter the WiFi password, coz you know...kids right? The food....oh my ...the food! I got stuck into the brisket (not the cat) and it was falling apart before I even got my fingers on it, yes...utensils are optional. I was hoping for more from the slaw, but in this instance I was here for the meat and I was not disappointed. The Warden ravished her pulled pork nachos...I didn't get a look in so can't say how they were. Overall, the vibes with very friendly staff, music and incredibly delicious and mouth watering meat made this a must stop. Come hungry, come with a bib, just stop here and enjoy sumptuous food done Texas style BBQ. Brisket also joined us for lunch!

Absolutely blown away by the quality and flavour of the smokey meats. In all my 23 years of life have i never ever had ribs this good and it is something that you have to try yourself. The flavour profile of the applewood smoked ribs is absolutely incredible and i can most confidently say this is the best smokehouse in the western cape if not whole of Cape Town. Absolutely amazing food go and try it for yourself. Staff and service is very very impressive. 100% would recommend.

It was our first time visit, but definitely not our last. We had the pulled pork and brisket sliders, which had generous meat portions and chips. Add the chilli sauce and you have a winner. Oh yes, don't forget the craft beer and gin to wash down a delightful meal.

Amazing food! We had brisket balls, Pork Ribs and slaw. Awesome flavour combo's! Chips with secret salt recipe was great...no extra flavour needed! Worth the drive from Durbanville. When u c the sign, turn off...u won't be sorry 😁 Owner was very welcoming and engaging. Loved it!

I'm still of the opinion that google must make an exception for more than 5 star rating for places like this. As much as the food took took a bit of time to come but I believe all good things come to those who wait, and indeed I was not disappointed when two humongous nachos were brought to me. I'm not a red meat fan but let me tell you, the meat was absolutely beautiful, I was literally dancing at my first two bites, cause that's good it was. The cheesecake was a bit too "lemony" for me though, however I will be exploring the menu. The service from the waiters is absolutely amazing, they check up on you literally all the time, and the guy I'm assuming is the owner. I will definitely be a regular!!

I told all my friends the moment I left, great hospitality. Great vibes all the way, our waiter Eugene was great too. Those portions put me in a happy place, great value for money. Take your family and friends, what a gem. Plan to go there 4 times a year, can taste my meal just talking about it. Home made sauces are the bomb. EISBEIN with my little eye

Starting from the warm welcome we received from what initial looked like a bikers only joint to a well rounded family gathering. We got a private tour of the smoke house, tasted the absolutely smooth local brewed Tequila and beer. To finish it all the food was so so so good...jaw dropping, meat falling of the bone, full of flavour food. A must for Meat Eaters and good food lovers. Thank you

I cannot explain how great this experience was . I went expecting to eat some good food and walked out after hearing and experiencing a journey in culinary delight and a drinks experience u like any other . The pitmaster talked to us about so many topics and we were engrossed to find out as much as possible about our food and drinks They've added a big kids and grass area if you feel like being outdoors.
