Review Bread Basket - Edenvale

Wonderful experience! Clean and friendly staff and easily accessible. Bought Grandad's 80 Birthday Cake and Custard Fruit Tarts....all absolutely divine fresh! Guests couldn't stop asking where the Cake was from!!!

They sell fresh baked foods. I love the service and the calmness of the seat and eat area. They have a good selection of baked goodies. I have a sweet tooth, so it is difficult for me to choose. Their olive bread is also delicious...try their cookies, you'll be hooked, lol!šŸ˜Š

It was my very first day in South Africa, I was lost and my phone battery was dead. I walked in asked for help. The staff were so helpful; they charged my phone and gave me directions to the nearest taxi station. Thank you. And their coffee was delicious

Love the food here! Very friendly staff. The atmosphere is very relaxed. I always leave with a box full of their delicious cookies!

Good food/service and friendly staff atmosphere is a little sparce but they make up for it with nice breads and biscuits as well you can order breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices.

Quiet, unrushed. Good place for a restful meal, chat or business meeting. Not fantastic, but comfortable. A stark and cold looking. Could have some dƩcor to make it look & feel a a little warmer.

We had a relaxed breakfast. Food was good value for money. We received fast and friendly service from the waiter Maya. We will return in the future.

Can't remember much as it was so long ago but from what I can remember the food was nice as well as their baked goods.
Jami van Rooyen
Great service and always delicious. You can let them put names on cakes.

Service at the cold meat section are so rude and disrespectful with regards to the way they speak to clients.

If I could rate them negative stars I would!

Worst service .

Even charge you for mustard !
Who does that even ?

I was literally in that place for 5 minutes to buy a cake and the ladies behind the counter were pretty useless. I wasn't offered any assistance, instead I was assisted by one of that servers.
I got home, opened the box to cut the cake and the cream was cracked and as soon as my family and I began to eat it was immediately obvious that the cake wasn't fresh.
It was ridiculously stale. We were disappointed, to say the least, especially considering we paid R190 for the thing!

The worst Bread Basket as of my experience back in 2016!

Service is pathetic and the manager and the owner (at the time, not sure if any changes were made as to ownership/management since then) are of NO help. I ordered a birthday cake from them and not only did the manager forget to put the order through, he lied several times to cover his mistake, lies included the "imaginary cake" was still in the back of the store, then the truck broke down with the "imaginary cake" and eventually...the truth... that he forgot to order the cake.

The baker/decorator confirmed that she was not aware of the order and was told an hour after I had been to the store to collect the cake (which was not even ordered at that time, even though this cake was ordered and paid for in full a week before)

I eventually got a last minute, rushed birthday cake from them 3 hours later which I had to drive back to collect. This was also very annoying as the manager promised that he would make sure the cake is delivered to me. They did give me 10% off but this was not about money so the 10% off did not matter to me and could not make up for the driving back and forth and wasting my time on that day. Not to mention my annoyance at all the lies and excuses that were made about the cake.

It is better to acknowledge a mistake and apologise then to lie to cover up a story with one lie after another...

Updated review based on my experience 24 November 2018:

The Bread Basket has redeemed itself under new management, the new owner/ is delightful and such a pleasure to deal with.

I ordered a Bar One cake over the phone, explained exactly what I wanted and when I got there to collect the cake on Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised - the cake was fresh and looked lovely.

My rating will now be changed based on my latest experience with this branch and the service I received from the new owner/manager and some of the staff who assisted me.

Yummy food, amazing value for money. Recommend the eggs benedict with crispy parma ham on a ciabata. Staff were lovely and the vibe for sunday breakfast is really chilled.
Absolutely terrible service. Very long waiting times for disappointing food and coffee. Avoid at all costs if you are looking for good customer service.

Bad service and manager isnt great but very tasty cinnamon croissants (if they manage to pack the right ones in the right place!!)
If you eat there, service also isn't great.

Service was good. However the food was terrible. Chicken and mayo with almost like off cuts of chicken. When I told the manager he just looked at me. Useless. He took the food away and we didn't see him again.

Zomato does not allow for 1 word reviews, so I have to write a longer sentence in order to say that breakfast here was BAD!! Ordered the eggs benedict, and all I can say is bad!! How can bread basket serve old bread? Could not cut it, could not break it, so sent it back. For goodness sakes. You are a bakery

Cute little convenient cafe. A thumbs up for their chicken rissoles! The best I've actually had in aeons. Their cakes are as equally delicious! Will definitely give their breakfast a try soon. The service is great too, well done guys!

Order coffee with the cafe not even ten people seating only for no service and forgotten order!! Absolutely ridiculous no manager available. Will definitely not be going there again.

OMG!!!!
Awesome!!šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤
10/10 for everything we had, and the service, excellent!!!
Well done on the owner and manager running The Bread Basket Greenstone, little Gem!!
I must admit that The Bread Basket's food is really pleasant.. P and I have been here now three times and the food has continously been on point. The one waitress unfortunately dodnt have much knowledge of some of the drinks contained sugar or not but overall my experience has been great. The coffee is great and I must admit that I had great company. So well done guys... ps: you should be more generous on the hollandaise sauce

Complete joy with all the home baked goodies on sale and the smell of baking is barely irresistible!! A rainbow of macarons, cakes and pastries to delight any cake lover. Fresh muffins and croissants are plentiful. English breakfast was affordable and tasty - good coffees and great vibe. Staff are really friendly. Would certainly return if I find myself in the area again :)

Best Breakfast I ever had!! Well worth the price and super filling. Will be back again when I am in greenstone!! Service is slow but the food is great!

Significantly better since being revamped and installing wi-fi, a great selection of sandwiches made to order, together with fresh pastries make it a worthwhile stop. I far prefer it to the Mugg & Bean - less busy, better service and better value for money.

Added bonus of extended soft drink selection including gems like Dr Pepper and Snapple.

The breakfast special (about R35) is excellent value for money at the moment. 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 rashers bacon, tomato and toast will fill you up. Best value for money breakfast in Edenvale right now.

Warning: eating the giant pink meringues with your fingers will have them stained red for the whole day. But worth it.

OH just dont dare ask for something SUCH an effort to give it to you and its "like dude you really want me to work now" .... The cashiers are also to busy talking to each other to be bothered with you. No thanks id rather go to the one in East Gate

Extremely slow service, had to call twice just to place an order. Food was fine but once again very slow. Coffee was cold before breakfast came eventually. Omelette was good.
Jonathan Starmer
Friendly staff and good wholesome food. Have had many breakfasts and lunches with the extended family here. Fantastic coffee to boot with loads of options from the deli.

Food okish nothing fantastic and coffee is way to strong. Carrot cake was fair but carrot was not grated fine enough. On the upside prices not to bad
