Review Piccola Rossa - Edenvale

Warren Steyn
Relaxed atmosphere, great little kids play area and friendly staff. Pizza and Pasta are always winners. The large pizzas are especially good for functions and parties.

The food is nice, most of time we order the take away, they can delivery as well. There is special for pasta on Monday, my kid enjoy the pasta.

It's been my second visit this year and I've always had a good experience. Pizzas & Pastas are absolutely delicious! Reasonably Priced meals and friendly staff. Italian food at its best! I orderd the Espania & Orto Pizza at my last visit which I really enjoyed! Bonus! They on the Entertainer App!

This is the only place I will eat Pizza at. Been here a few times now and everytime the service is amazing and the food is good. My partner and I drive out of our way to come here for pizza, it's that good.

We just discovered my new favoritest pizza restaurant. If you're old enough to remember Amalfi in Edenvale, those were the days..... Piccola Rossa makes the same tasty pizzas, none of that mass-production numbers you can pull out of any other pizza place. Excellent food and service. We will definitely be back for more.

An absolute addiction. The staff is so amazing and you cant see that it comes from the Owners. The owners always greet you with a warm smile. Their staff have that same happiness. We love coming here...and we always buy thw same pizza....because its so good (FYI Grande Pizza Half New York and Half Margarita....just so delicious). Their atmosphere is cheerful and they have live entertainment every now and thrn. They even have a quiz night. Give them a shot....you wont regret it.

Amazing authentic pizza and pasta. Very nice relaxed environment that is not noisy. Good staff service. Even their vegetarian pizza the "Orto". Is simply amazing and comes in 6, 8 and a whopping 24 slices. A taste of pizza heaven.

Phenomenal Owners!!! Seriously amazing experience every time at Rossa! Best pizza in JHB maybe in SA! Extremely customer centric amazing place! Thank you so much for the wonderful service EVERYTIME!
Michael Herholdt
Good food, play area for kids inside and friendly and helpful owners and staff.
Mike Fourie
Love there, pizzas the best in town, especially the vegetarian one
Kim Nair
One of my favorite places to eat at. The cheesecake is amazing!!

Thank you Christina and gang for going out of the way to make a steaming hot delish soup (which is out of season) for my wife who wasn't feeling well and hadn't eaten in a day and half. My new fave place and my wife felt much better after your indulgence
Avershinn Velloo
The food was really amazing, pizza base so crispy and the toppings were more than enough.
Thulisile Ngwenya
Recently had my 21rst birthday at Rossa😊the food was great, amazing service
Wesleigh Arjunan
Huge amount of food for a very good price and tasted very good. Definitely worth a try.
Melanie Boardman
The pizza was burnt and inedible.
Jules
The zucchini fritti is so light and crispy, the arancini so tasty and the mozzarella and rosemary foccacia has the perfect thin base. Lasagna also very flavorful- so cheesy and meaty and yummy. Carbonara sauce is really creamy and smooth, also so much flavor. Pizzas are good too. Service has been good on all occasions we've been there.

I ordered take out, almost R 500 for 2. The Zeus Pizza which cost R 165 was described as Mozarella, Pancetta, Avo and Feta cheese. The Italian Pancetta was replaced by them with bacon and the feta was not rinced resulting in an extremely salty pizza. I called to complain and was told that bacon and Pancetta is the same thing. Firstly the bacon that was on the pizza was not from the same cut as Pancetta which is from the belly. Bacon is put in brine and then smoked and Pancetta is seasoned and dry cured. They have distinct ively different tastes. The Italian Antipasti which I have ordered numerous times before was now in a smaller container yet the price had gone up. The same thing as the Tagliata which is described as 220 to 240 grams of fillet and charged accordingly. What I got was no more than 150 grams of meat with dry rocket which was tasteless. I only complained about the pizza as we could not eat it as it was too salty. They eventually asked if we would like Something else which we ordered a Salmon pizza. It's now dinner time and we are still waiting for the exchange.

Overall a good Pizzeria. Always getting your order correct and tasty food. The front line staff could be better. You can always depend on them for a good meal.
Ashleigh De Jager
Should have known to just turn around the minute we not only had to seat ourselves, but also ask for a table to be cleared and wiped for us. Poor service (they were not busy) and completely bland and overpriced food. Overall a very frustrating and unpleasant experience for everyone - every table around us had complaints. I won’t be going back.

We had a variety of your pizzas at a birthday party. We always prefer to eat pizza in as it best out of the oven but I must add that I was most impressed. You can easily taste the difference when you use quality toppings which you evidently do. Simple yet delicious. The margarita with garlic was the bomb. We will definitely be seeing you soon so we can sample it straight from the oven 😊
Jasmin Swart
At first I was disappointed with the food but after giving the place another chance I have come to love their pizzas, specially the giant ones. Fresh ingredients and very generous with toppings. The crust is always fresh and crisp. Right amount of sauce to topping ratio. Great service and delivery times. Average prices. Will definitely order from here more often.
Samantha Kimber
Ordered the bolognese for take away. So disappointed as it was bland, oily and just not good. It’s so sad as I have ordered here before and it was so yummy (the pizza). However, this is not the first time the pasta was a let down. The lasagne is frozen and just defrosted and reheated. Would not recommend, especially the pasta.
Silvana Seita De Almeida
Their food is amazing, the best pizza when we first had Rossa pizza we were so happy to finally find a pizza that was to die for. You can not find better, and they have gluten free as well. yippy.
This marvellous wonder is so close to home for me and not situated in some pretentious wannabe high society place. The food speaks for itself and takes one's tastebuds high enough.

The pizzas have a gorgeous crust and base. Being a rectangular pizza, you get more than bargained for which is perfect by me.

The pasta portions are oh so generous and simply delicious! Every flavour is well thought out and the varieties work exceptionally well.

Their Tiramisu is a traditional winner, ticking all Tiramisu treat-worthy boxes.

The service is extremely friendly however a little slow.

On cold evenings, the heaters are on making it a cosy and homely atmosphere that is lightly kissed by light.

I will always be back!
Tarryn Wise
We ordered Pasta's from Piccola Rossa and it was delivered piping hot and fresh, the food and service is excellent here, highly recommend this place for Dining or Take away .
Ashlin Naidoo
Good food. Nicely priced. The cappuccino was exceptional. Feels like homemade food. Even has Banting options. I recommend the almond chicken breast with fresh tomato and basil
Thabo Tshuma
Great pizza which are square and not round. Enjoyed a few too many cocktails on a Sunday afternoon. My friend had the broccoli pasta which i tasted and was very impressed. Will try a pasta next time and maybe a few less cocktails.
George Eire
Was invited to Rossa on Saturday for a birthday party and boy was I glad I went. They were really busy for a Saturday afternoon but there was a nice vibe. Menu is extensive and we ordered t
he grande pizzas for the table. These things are monsters. Yet, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. First time I tried fried baby marrow (my wife forced me) and I couldn’t stop eating them. Service is good although they did seem under staffed. Only 60 bucks in an uber from the Far East, I’ll be back.
Clayton Donnelly
The food is great, somewhat different from regular Italian spots. But the service is terrible. Reordering, forgotten orders, simple asks (like a glass of water) is the style of service we experienced. Waiters aren’t trained well, not convinced that the managers love their own staff members either...
So disappointing when the full experience of eating out has so much to do with how you are received as a guest.
Michaela Leon
Excellent banting menu. We always get take outs as every time we pass by they are extremely busy.

I hate crammed up spaces, you don't really enjoy the dining experience. Either than that ever thing is an A+ in my books.
Rudolf Ernst
They have a lot of options on the menu. The pizzas are very big for the price and tasty. One problem is that the pizza isn't easy to cut because the knives aren't good and the paper on the wooden plates isn't very practical as it disintegrates.
Little Miss Rabbit 🐇
Affordable considering the quality of the ingredients used in their menu
The sangria, price R70 was refreshing, especially during summer. Their spaghetti bolognese price, R80 was delicious. Tesh ordered this option. That’s how you rate an Italian Restuarant test their bolognese. I ordered the Vitello (veal, mushrooms, cream, chilli, napoltana sauce) with Penne price, R95. Love the dish! Seriously, it takes you back to the heart of Italy; has if you eating it there. There pannetone are displayed out. Italian Christmas cake. A sweet, yeasty treat has a distinctive domed shape. Panettone is often compared to fruitcakes because both are traditionally made with raisins and candied fruits. Pandoro is a Christmas cake that originated in Verona. True to its name (pan d'oro means 'golden bread'), the cake has a bright yellow colour.
Bonita Van Der Merwe
These guys make the best pizza I've ever had! Great atmosphere and great service. Good wine list, too. Not totally crazy about their pasta though - perhaps just because I like mine cooked with lots of salt.

Had an unexpected lunch at this little restaurant that I didn't know existed. What a little find. How do these places open quietly and don't tell anyone? We deserve to know you exist! Apparently they have been open for nearly 4 years. I asked the waiter to recommend a starters and he told me to try the bruschetta - which he pronounced correctly and not with a 'sh'. I was so amazed I ordered 3, thinking they would be tiny. Wrong I was but I needed to leave space for my mains so I surrendered on the bruschetta. I had the 'vitello'(veal) pasta for mains which was cooked to perfection. My only complaint was that the chilli was a bit hot but the waiter pointed out that the chillies were in a bad mood this time of year. Great experience - I live in Pretoria but I will be back next time I'm in Joeys for sure!
Neville Geldenhuys
Stopped by on Friday night due to heavy traffic and I'm glad I did! This is a hidden gem in a small shopping centre amongst the Balwin concrete jungle. Just had a ragu spaghetti (how else do you test the quality of an Italian restaurant?) and a small herb foccacia which was delicious. The portion was a little bit on the ridiculous side but was so tasty I didn't want to leave anything behind. This place gets really busy but seems to be run fairly efficiently in the chaos. Service was ok but waiters won't give a single guy the best service as there is no money to be made. Going to pack the wife and kids into the car and treat them to some authentic food this weekend, it's worth the drive from Benoni.
Neville.
Joost Pielage
Very inconsistent quality of the food. Went there couple of times never going back. Funny enough the smell is always amazing. The taste is just lacking a lot.
Bianca
Holy cow this place gets busy. Went there on a Friday night and it was utter chaos but somehow controlled. The staff seem to enjoy working there which is bizzare as the industry sucks and some customers can be hard work. Although our food took a looooong time it was worth the wait. Broccoli pasta was out of this world and my sister had the ravioli in a gorgonzola sauce which was heavenly. Cool place, cool tunes and stunning food. Well done guys.
Chanel Alberts
Great food. The pizza is always amazing. We usually order take away from them. Delivery service not so great. Its better to collect. The restaurant is small but intimate and the restaurant has a good vibe. Good service, friendly staff.
Adam Landsberg
The service of the place is below par.

I ordered a pizza and a pasta for delivery and it came 1 hour later cold and with no pasta.

Manager or someone that does something there called me after 10min and said they forgot my pasta.

I asked do your driver check the slip before delivery and she said no they are lazy.

Well that just says all you need to know about this place. Wont be buying from them again.

Sapphirae Lupa
Great little local spot. Have had many tasty meals from here, I can't comment too much on ambience as we usually get takeaways, which are consistently good. Have had one mix up (in many, many orders) which was sorted out very quickly by the manager. I've always had good service here.

They have recently changed their pizza sizes, which is a pity, they seem to have done away with the medium size and are now calling the small size medium.
Tracy Farmer
Tried calling to order for delivery on both numbers provided numerous times, calls were never answered. Eventually ordered elsewhere. Very disappointed.
Jessica Varcoe
This is now the medium pizza from Piccola rossa. I am so disappointed at how they can trick customers as they have changed thier sizing (i order over th phone) . I usually order a medium and get a lot more than this. I won't be going back any time soon
Luigi Poltrona
The pizzas are good but the pastas are POWER! Had the seafood pasta which, although pricey, is gob smacking good. Proper crab pieces, fresh mussles and prawns. Portion is big - I took some home and re heated it for work the next day. My partner had a gluten free vegetarian pizza which, as far a gluten free goes is the best he or I have tasted. 30 minutes from home but it's worth the drive.
Stella Novak
Had one of the best pastas in a long time here. Closest to Italy out of Italy I have been to (with very reasonable prices). They do a massive pizza which seems very popular. Does get busy and you will wait a while for your food. Very small waiting team so they can get into a bit of a spin but efficient and friendly enough.
Ronelle
The most consistently inconsistent place I've been to. You always have to double check your take away orders. They are overwhelmed when busy and food and service becomes sloppy. Website prices are incorrect.
Charlie Ucello
Finally got to this lovely little place, a hidden gem in the residential area of Greenstone. Pizzas are square which is a nice touch and some really great flavours to choose from. I had the San Marino which has fresh parma ham and parmesan shavings - delicious, although a bit too much rocket for my taste. My wife had the veal salad which could feed a medium sized army. She did not manage to finish it but we had it for supper and it was still fresh!! Service was good and staff are knowledegable and know the menu very well. Apparently they do a super big pizza which I cant wait to try with my kids. Will be back as soon as we are back in the area. Thank you.
Darmisha
Staff rude and unfriendly, service is bad and our waitress did not even bring plates or cutlery to our table. Management doesn't seem to care. Pizzas are average.
Claudio Martins
Fantastic Staff and great service, love the Monday pasta special, super value for money, pasta portions are great and the Peacon Pie is to die for!!! clean and authentic environment!
Robin Botha
Once again got a 24 slice pizza as takeaway it was delivered on time steaming hot and as always superb quality this place really knows their stuff great food thanks again
Twanette Botha
These guys pizza's rock best ever for quality and pricing food is always at a international level service is outstanding and delivery always on time and hot thanks guys keep up the great service
Tokozani Dube
One of the best pizzas in town by far. Their portions are a bit exaggerated so go there hungry. They do a giant pizza which can feed 6 people - great to feed my growing teenagers. My wife tried the veal pasta and really enjoyed it but watch the chillies they've got a kick. Service goodish, they get very busy on fridays so expect to wait for your food, although it is worth the wait.
Trish Parkes
Food is awesome. Great menu with a huge variety of dishes, something for everyone. Their "free delivery service" is convenient. It's getting them to actually deliver without a fuss that is frustrating and challenging.
Linda Koekemoer
Had my dads birthday here with about 30 people. They made and antipasto starter with fresh imported cold meats and cheese. This was followed by lasagna, which is probably the nicest one I've had. Their large pizzas are good value and the kids loved them. Nice dessert but we were far too full. Service good but can be uncomfortable if the weather is moody.
Helen Mansfield
Their food is normally great but take out is a no no. It's tool 70 mins to get it, the pizza was cold, the spaghetti napolitana was completely over cooked, pasta like mush and with hardly any sacred on it. My fillet fettuccine napolitana was great until I came across great big black hair in it, gross!!!! Be careful with take out.
Reece Peterson
Awesome Italian cafe vibe, great Peroni Draught and decent pizza. Thumbs up.

##############################################################

Just wanted to come and have a beer and the waiters blatantly ignored me. Manager stared me in the face and could not be bothered. Won't make it a race thing but that's exactly what happened here. The couple after me was helped in a heartbeat. That waiter literally saw me and made his decision. Place of convenience for those wanting something but the food is bland cause I did eat there before. Burnt bases and evidently sh** service.

Looking to waste money or condone prejudiced businesses by all means. This place can disappear off the face of the planet for all I care.
M&T Critics
Service was great, food was even better, establishment was clean and tidy. We had pizzas and they had so much flavor, they were just amazing. Overall amazing experience.
Daphna Oren
We ordered the orto pizza as a delivery. It arrived in about 15 minutes and was still hot. Delicious pizza which yiuvdont feel too bad about eating because of all the vegetables on it. Even our kids loved it!

I would definitely recommend this place of you are in the mood for a delicious pizza.
Ruan Van Tonder
Pathetic service on more than one occasion! From rude waiters when sitting down for a meal to them being unwilling to deliver to us (even though my office IS in Edenvale). Not impressed at all.
Genevieve Law
Really quality Italian food. Both pizza and pasta are done really well, and there's something for everyone - the gluten intolerant and the banters! Perfect for a quick evening out.
James Somers
Popped in for a quick Public holiday voting pizza. Myself and my girlfriend were pleasantly surprised, Great food Descent service got a blanket alongside a warm heater and the pizza was actually amazing to be completely honest. Definitely recommended.
Nicole Tobias
They do try and keep you warm with blankets and heaters, but it was still pretty nippy. The service was a little on the slow side too.

My pizza (nizza) was okay, not the best I've ever had. My sister's broccoli and Gorgonzola gnocchi was amazing though, and she said the same of her Nutella hot chocolate.
Carin
Service is great. Tried the salmone pasta, pasta was cooked to perfection, sufficient salmon, but zucchini was a bit under cooked for my preference. All in all one of my new favourite pasta places.
Gregg
Female manager is extremely rude to staff in front of customers and is not friendly at all. I think they may be understaffed. Food is good, if you can put up with the service.
Wynand Van Nispen
Worst Pizza place for take aways. They changed to these cheap boxes and the lid of the box get stuck to the pizza. Absolutely a disgrace as their competitors use proper boxes.
Taniko Gough
Had a very yummy lunch here today . We were house hunting in Edenvale and got hungry . Had the Roma and San Marino 6 slice pizzas , utterly delectable ! Service was great too , our waiter was always on hand .
Arne Swanepoel
The environment is very well laid out and the waiting staff are very attentive. Their pizza's have the post perfect thin crust with well balanced toppings. We love the antipasti platter with the variety of Italian starter foods. The veal pasta is truely delicious. This place is fantastic for a lunch or dinner affair as well as affordable.
Chanel Dalziel
I had a special request, one I usually request in Italian restaurants, and the staff aswell as the manager was not so keen on it.. They feared the type of prep it would take would ruin the texture of the meal but made it for me anyway at the risk of their reputation.. It turned out the best (special request) I've had yet!
Laura Brewer
When you live in Greenstone, there is no question about where to get pizza! These people have their work cut out for them on a weekend when the place pumps with customers (a true sign of their quality and service). Rossa pizza is no different at either branch and is fantastically delicious no matter what! You won't be disappointed irrespective how busy they are or what you order.
David Ferronha
I visited Piccola Rossa for a quick Cappuccino and Calabria Sandwich in between shopping. The setting is relaxed and comfortable and the service was attentive and friendly.

Not the best sandwich by any means but an enjoyable experience nonetheless. I look forward to trying some of their pizzas in the near future.
Michele Holmes
I love the quality of this restaurant's ingredients. Everything is thinly sliced, fresh and delicious! Eating there is a relaxed experience, with good service, although we also use their delivery service at work all the time. This restaurant does not even know that they provide pizza for almost every office get together and/or birthday here!
Liam
Absolutely my favourite pizza restaurant, rossa is an awesome thin crust pizza and great value for money and the grande pizza is good for gaming nights
Clare Appleyard
We can normally find *something* positive about any meal. Not in this case.

The Rossa pizza (mozzarella, prawn meat, rocket & avo) sounded delicious - on the menu. In reality it was utterly tasteless. The prawn meat was actually shrimp and was so over-cooked it was rubber-like and hard to chew. We pulled off the shrimps and gave them to the dogs.

The Zidane (mozzarella, Brie and caramelised onions) was slightly better, but the Brie was playing hide and seek and we struggled to find it.

The crusts, although thin, were doughy and not at all crispy. Overall these we're two of the worst pizzas we've ever had. Very, very disappointing and a total waste of money.
Robyn Louw
For a little Italian restaurant hidden away in a little cente, this place is so great! The pizza is fabulous with a wide variety to choose from! They even do banting and gluten-free bases which are really tasty! The service is fast and friendly. This place is really well run! Book a table though because they are always busy! I'm going back to try a milkshake...they looked so delicious! I'm so happy to have found this spot!
Matthew Hatton Walker
Nice pizza all round generally order in when I do get it... Had an atenne pizza on Saturday for lunch was nice dough is a bit thick but otherwise toppings are delicious... I keep going back so it can't be all too bad... Very busy on a Friday night I would avoid this time takes very long to get food out...
Epicurean Republic
The food from Piccola Rossa has always been great. My wife and I often go there and get a pizza pasta combo that we share. They are also our go to spot when ordering take-away pizza while in Greenstone. Their family size pizzas / selection of pizzas makes catering for large functions really easy and affordable.
Claudia Nel
If you are looking for delicious pizza that isn't made in a factory, that uses only the freshest and finest ingredients. Look no further. Try the quarto fromage or the zidane. But don't leave without ordering a Nutella milkshake. You'll be sorry if you didn't.
Adushen Rajpal
Went all Veg, got the pesto penne, Veg lasagne and Veg Cannolini, the best being the cannolini, absolutely divine, best I've had to be honest!! Really delicious, however ordered in and delivery took over an hour, that was the only downside giving the rating 3.5 instead of 5.
Jeremy Mataba
Went their on a Friday night month end and the place was bursting at the seams. I think they might need a bigger boat...I had the Zuma pizza which came with fresh avo, mushrooms and chicken. My wife decided to try the veal pasta and the kids went for two small plain pizzas. Although it took nearly 40 minutes for the food to arrive it was worth the wait. The pasta was the best me or my wife tasted and the kids loved their pizzas. I just wish they would rename the 'zuma' to something less embarrasing. The service wasn't too bad considering anarchy was about to ensue. Our waiter was friendly and still had a sense of humour even with all the kids going halloween crazy. Will definitely return, just maybe not on a month end, halloween Friday.
Tiaan Van Heerden
We have bought pizzas from Rossa before and we were quite happy with the pizzas and service. We did have a bad experience on one occasion, but overall we are happy to go back.
Stephanie
Awesome pizza and pasta! Thin, crispy pizzas. Recommend pasta gamberi. We should have shares in Rossa as we eat here so much! They do delivery too.
Hana
When I am craving a good thin crust pizza, I like to come here. On this specific evening, Domino's in the same complex had let me down in a big way so I decided to take a deep breath and move on. Good idea! We ordered three small pizzas (although I do like the option to split a larger pizza into three different toppings) and each was great. I had the New Yorker because I wanted Pepperoni and it was actually pepperoni which was a nice surprise as pizza places often serve salami in it's place. I had a piece of each and had no complaints.
The score would be a 4 had the service been better. Management was present but did not seem very friendly and the wait staff for such a quiet evening looked harassed. We sat inside but despite being so close to the action it was difficult to catch any body's eye. Hopefully a better experience next time.
Micaela Lo Russo
Went here for lunch yesterday, my mom and I order the "piccante" pizza which is supposed to have chili but there was not even one chilli on sight so we had to ask the waiter to bring some to the table, other than that the pizza tasted very good, our waiter was friendly and the service was good,if you go there I recommend having their ice tea which are imported from Italy.
I definitely prefer this branch to their Bedfordview one.
Wynn Haupt
I just got a Zuma pizza and I was not happy. The chicken was extremely dry and the pizza on a whole was bland, really needed more seasoning.
Wicked Cream
Square pizza into square boxes .... why isn't everyone doing this? The nice thing about the food here is that it is the food Italians here had as kids in Italy ... not over spiced pasta. The food is great and they deliver. Order the Wicked Cream ice cream. The Nutella Chocolate is just right with pizza!
Sabrina
Myself and two friends decided to order the 24 piece Zuma pizza for lunch today.. Not only was it delivered to our place but it was also warm, thin crusted and DELICIOUS. Very very happy with our choice !! Never a disappointment.
Natalie Shephard
The pizza is great, staff friendly and service excellent - we order pizza from them regularly and they remember our usual order. The pasta is not recommended though, it is usually swimming in oil.
Gillian Hattingh
Carbonara is amazing especially if you add some prawns with it. Not too eggy. Ryan had a medium luganica with extra chorizo which he really enjoyed. Atmosphere is nice, although not enough inside seating for the winter. Server was very attentive.
Riana
Ordered in because we'd had pizza from them when they'd just opened and we had been very satisfied. Wow! What a disappointment today! The crust was like a slice of soggy bread! The parma ham with basil, seemed to have lost the basil as had the anchovy pizza! We'll rather do debonairs if we have another pizza craving !
Gary Greenberg
Rossa is not my favourite pizza place out there. The rectangle pizza is a nice touch however I do not get excited when having a meal here as I feel the pasta is bland but pizza is quite good. I have tried the orto pizza which was a bit soggy and I feel could have had some more herbs on it. This place is quite small and does have a variety of pizza and pasta for vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

The service here is average and it is a very casual place to have a bite. Supposidly their estiva pizza with bufala mozzarella is great so I will try this next time. Their large pizzas are very good value for money so if you are having a party I would recommend this place as it is quick, easy and almost mess free.
Hester Vorster
What a great Gem...always on the lookout for a good Take Away/Sit down Pizza/Pasta Joint, and Rossa does not disappoint. Their pizza's are a little "strange" being square and all...but it's hip to be square?? Toppings on the pizza's are generous, pasta delicious (I have had the Fruti da Mare - and first time in my life I do not search for seafood in my pasta)...you get served crab still in the shell, that is so good with this pasta...only thing is that they do not have a Crab Tool to break up the Crab to get to the flesh, and you have to basically use your teeth and a lot of willpower....but the Manager assured me that they are looking in obtaining some soon...service good, and prices even better!
Vanessa Preston
Mother's Day treat, friendly accommodating staff....and the most amazing pizza. Thank you for the extra treat of Mother's Day chocolates we will be back
MelGeeZA
Love load shedding. It allows me the chance to try new restaurants in the area to pass the time until power is restored.

So this was today's choice. Piccola Rossa.

It's a tiny little cafe in the shopping centre and wow it was busy. Both inside and out. Vibey and great atmosphere.

Gargantuan list of pizza's to choose from in 3 different sizes to suit all appetites! And the added bonus of being able to create your own.

The service was good, but the wait for the pizza's was a while. But oh my. Definitely worth the wait! The salami mushroom took us back to Venice! The Parma ham and rocket on mine was a perfect balance of salt and pepper and so deliciously yum! Our pizzas were huge for six slice but we're so delicious we didn't care!

Tiramisu for desert with the amaretto was the perfect way to end the afternoon! So perfect I forgot to take a pic of it! But it look d and tasted amazing. So light and fluffy!

Our only negative was the thoroughfare walking along the sidewalk but depending on where you sit, it shouldn't worry you too much.
Kirsten Morrison
I've ordered from here quite a few times in the hope that the next experience will be a better one, but sadly not. The staff need training and the pizzas are average.
Andrea P. Diaz
The service here is always great. They've definitely improved on their pizzas since opening. If it wasn't for the calories, I'd eat here more often. Much better than the Bedfordview branch.
Kelly Ansara
I really love this place! Perhaps it's the square pizzas or the delicious pasta? Who cares, it's a great place, take away or sit down. The pizzas are by far the best, the Zuma being my favourite. It is relaxed, good service, and the food AMAZING!
Merelda
Awesome casual Pizza/Pasta place.

The restaurant is small with most of the seats outside. It's very pleasant on a summer night, but I can imagine it being quite cold in winter since it's not sheltered from the wind. I quite like the interior of the restaurant although it is very small. They also sell some interesting dry ingredients.

Piccola Rossa serves delicious pizza, the base is thin and the toppings are generous. I like their uniquely shaped pizza, as it fits every corner of the box! The 24 slices option is a very good value for money, and I'd definitely recommend ordering it for family/party takeaways. I thoroughly enjoyed their pasta - it has everything a good pasta needs. The portion is generous, the sauces are packed with flavour and the pasta itself was well-cooked.

p.s. We wanted to order a delivery but was told that they are full and the delivery would take at least 50 minutes to arrive, so we opted to fetch it ourselves (for 30 minutes). However, when we arrived the pizza was getting a little cold even though the pasta was still warm.

Bottomline: My new go-to pizza takeaway place!

Pros: good food, one of the best pizza in the area
Cons: slow, small inside

So P and I were just lazy, none of us felt like making Sunday lunch and we decided to go for some Italian. This restaurant is about 8km from my house, and exactly wanted - Italian and not far.

The restaurant is in The Green Valley Shopping Centre, There are a three tables inside the restaurant and a few chairs for take away clients. The rest can sit in the outside area under decked area, very nicely done I must say. It seems that this is the theme of this restaurant chain.

I would recommend that you sit outside under the decked area as the inside can get rather busy and really loud inside, especially when the chef shouts for the orders and when things do not go right. You can see that she certainly has the Mediterranean temper (as do I LOL!!! - but of course, I am laughing three seconds later).

As we were going through the menu, the dishes for the other tables went past us, and boy this is not good especially if you hungry, everything looked amazing. We were millimeters from rugby tackling a number of waiters and waitresses but decided to keep our composure and act decent :-).

What I like about this place, is that it is real Italian food done by a real Italian person. We were served by Aldo. Very friendly and always had a smile. We ordered an "Antipasto Italiano" which had some salami, cheese, parma ham, rosa tomatoes, olives to name a few - its an awesome little dish to share and snack on. It is seriously Italian - olive oil the works!!! personally I would recommend that instead of two slices of french bread that came with it, that they have a few slices of plain focacia... that would have been an amazing finish.
Main course I ordered a "Tagliata" which is an oven baked fillet steak with garlic, olive oil and balsamic vinegar on a bed of rocket - now the rocket in the warm olive oil and balsamic mixture is a MUST!!!! it is gob smacking delicious. This comes with a side of oven roasted Veges which had roasted pumpkin and sweet potato and potatoes - done just right

P had a Melanzane with a chicken breast - now brinjals with some Mozzarella cheese and some Napoletana sauce - this was really delicious.
P wanted some lunch for Monday so she ordered a small Regina as a take away, the square shaped Pizza looked so fresh with fresh ingredients. I tasted a bit of the pizza later in the day and I must admit that it still tasted really fresh - so yes I would recommend this restaurant for sure.

One of my favourite pizza joints! Flavours just burst in your mouth! We went on a very quiet evening so we were given loads of attention. Try the ZUMA if you even go. It's nothing like its namesake! And I quite like the pizza shapes :)

Had a disappointing experience! Called in 2 small pizza take away order @ 6pm Friday, told 30 mins. Our order was only ready @6:55. While waiting I asked as well as a few other patrons waiting why so long , heard the owner/manager behind the kitchen counter mumble back to the waitress something about going to Pizza Hut for quick pizza!?! Would have made a better impression had he rather apologized for the long wait?

They have some of the best pizza in town, love the 24 slice option for family get togethers. it's quite small not the best atmosphere around but the pizza makes it all the worth while, TRY IT.

Rossa serves some of the best pizza in the east. Make sure you order one with parma ham, those are the best! The location is probably te only downside, it has a bit of a "shopping centre" feel.

Rarely do I find a place that makes good food, serves decent portions and is still well priced. Piccola Rossa has all 3 and I've never encountered bad service...I would recommend taking a visit.

I ended up babysitting my 1 year old here one afternoon while my wife got a haircut nearby.. Have been here a few times earlier as well. The Bruschetta is a real revelation, I would go everytime and order one of all kinds and recommend you do the same, especially the salmon and mascerpone. Their pesto used to be amazing but needs to get back to the original standard. The baked veal pasta was decent as well, but what stood out was the friendly nature of the owner/manager.

Edit - they now have a new super rude cashier lady who takes the order and doesn't mention that the prices and the menu have both changed. Also very clueless about how zomato works. Definitely in the wrong job. Wish the owner would be more present because the food is great.

Finally a place in Edenvale that does good, authentic Italian food!! Hooray! Went there on Sunday afternoon and the place was buzzing - and it was freezing. Unfortunatley most of the seating is outside but they do have heaters and blankets which the kids loved. We ordered a large pizza with four different flavours and I can honestly say it's the best pizza I have had in a long long time. My wife had an alfredo pasta which was cooked to perfection. Finished the meal off with a tiramisu and cheese cake which apparently are made in house. If they keep this standard up it could easily become the place to be in Greenstone. Hope so.

Live in Greenstone and wanted to go for quite a while to Piccola Rossa, should have saved my time and money. :( From the time my Gf and I entered received the worst service I have ever encountered. The manager needs to learn a little about management as well as being a people person. Waitress was really unfriendly, like we were interrupting her day or something. Got our coffee's with no sugar, no serviettes nothing. Had to get up and go to the counter to ask for them, got 2 serviettes that looked like someone else just used them. Food was meant to take 15 min, took closer to 30, then the pizza arrives, base is not cooked. Was really disgusted, manager says I must wait, they will make another one, I had already been there over 45 min waiting to eat. Just paid them and left. Would not recommend the place to anyone. Looks good from the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover.

Am hardly ever disappointed with the quality of food here. Generosity with the pizza toppings has slowed but the food is always delicious. Think they picked a bad spot in the centre as it is way too small to cope with the demand, also there's no place to sit in winter.
Nice to eat real Italian food for a change

Ordered take out last night - after an hour it had not arrived. We fetched it eventually. (Got some dessert for the inconvenience, so props for that.)
Today - for lunch, my pizza arrived without anchovies - no apology, added them and put it through the oven again. Not ideal as the crust came back a bit soggy.) Then, the pizza I couldn't finish was put in a container by the waitress, one slice fell on the floor.
The owner/manager was in the restaurant and saw all of the above mentioned bad service. Not once did he check in with us or apologise for their mistakes.

Doesn't matter how good your food is if your service is substandard. Unacceptable.

Tried calling to find out ablot the true size of the pizze. The peraon on the phone didnt know anything . apparently the grande pizza has 24 slices and feeds 3to 4 people. Yet the large is 8 slices also feeds 3 to 4 people ???.

Service is so slow ... I waited an hour for a take away pizza .. Sit down customers had been waiting for 2 hours ... Rather go to the Bedfordview branch ..
