Review Da Graziella Restaurant - Edenvale

Gavin Hsiao-Ying Kung
It is very quaint and lovely place. We like the atmosphere. We had dinner for Sat evening, and it was full so booking is essential for the weekend. The food is very authentic and delicious, we enjoy the pizza, pasta and Risotto. We had lovely time with friends and the service is good, price is fair. It is hidden gem in Edenvale.

Lovely atmosphere. Our waiter, Oscar, was simply amazing and was very knowledgeable and gave the best recommendations.

Quaint little restaurant with a homey feel. Staff are friendly and very welcoming. Food is like your Nonna's cooking (if you are lucky enough to have one).
Cheryl Stead
It was delicious especially the starters. The canolies are the best.

This hidden gem in Dunvegan exceeded my expectations! The food took me straight back to Italy: authentic, homely and absolutely delicious. We’ve only gotten take-outs so far (and a few frozen meals to make at home), but will definitely try a sit-down meal once the numbers are down. Just a pity there is no outdoor seating. 🍽 Recommendations: • Ravioli 4P - Scrumptious little pasta pockets with a tasty filling of pollo, parmesan, porcini and pistachio. The creamy pistachio sauce to go with it was divine! • Gnocchi 4 Cheese - The fluffiest gnocchi surrounded by a decadent cheesy sauce • Arancini - Crispy and full of delicious cheesy filling. Definitely order one per person! • Parmigiana (frozen) - Just the right amount of cheese and Napoletana sauce, so good! • Chicken Lasagne (frozen) - A nice portion and quite tasty. Would love to try the meat one next time. 📌 They get quite busy on the weekends, so order early or expect a long wait!

Very quaint and lovely place. You have to make a booking as they get full. Bro good pasta and pizza. They have very good cocktails as well. This isn't the first time I've been there and have Family that frequents the restaurant. Good and effecient service with decent prices.

Great warm and homely atmosphere. The food dishes were authentically prepared Italian style. Good service and we will be back again.

Stunning people and great food.

Pizza was delicious. Nice place to relax and have a quick bite.

My absolute favourite Italian family restaurant in Johannesburg. Been going there for over 10 years, always delicious foodband great service.
Dawn Fathima Dunn
Wonderfully intimate Italian restaurant with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. 😍 loved the framed Springbok Jersey on the wall. The food is just divine with the gorgeous, gracious Graziella being the perfect host
Stephen Hall
Real home made Italian food. The gnocchi bolognese was fantastic. The veal lemone was delicious. Not many restaurants these days that offer veal. Best to make a reservation as it gets very busy. Table 8.

Lovely ambiance - as I luv good food and great service - definitely worth your experience to enjoy

Would definitely recommend the house merlot. The food is what you would expect from authentic italian. Loadshedding leaves the restaurant without music but otherwise an overall nice cosy experience...👍
Matt Burke
Amazing food and atmosphere. The lasagne is one of the best I've had and I'm not really a lasagne lover. Highly recommended
Andrea Slater
Loved every minute. Loved the sangria a bit *too* much. But everything was grand. Just wished there was a wood burning stove so we could have pizza during loadshedding, was really looking forward to that, but the food was grand.

A pleasant nice out with decent food

So o booked a table on 6 February for valentines dinner. When I called on 14 Feb at 15:00 to confirm, there was no booking. I had to phone around and each and every other place I wanted to book was full. This will prevent me from ever eating at this place regardless of all the good reviews I have read. Pity that.

2020 New. Years Eve party with friends.<br/>Excellent food, attentive service, and a DJ playing good music. Brilliant evening out.

I loved Da Graziella. The simplicity of the restaurant appealed to as I enjoy hole in the wall VS fine dining experiences. Brilliant menu choices were: the seafood pasta, the Epic melanzane!, and the noteworthy creme brulee which you must reserve when you make your reservation. Service and cappuccinos were also top notch. A wonderful place which I look forward to visiting again!

What an amazing place! Not my first time here but it always impresses. Friendly, attentive staff, delicious rolls while you wait and the food is to die for. We had the anchovy pizza and beef lasagne. Both superb! Best lasagne I've had and I'm not a lasagne lover. Too full for desserts so gave those a skip but they looked just as amazing. Highly recommended to anyone.

This is a little hidden gem located in Edenvale. Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I had the Osso Buco which was amazing. Tasted some of the pizza and pasta other people order which was also very tasty. Staff was friendly and attentive. Will recommend calling in advance and booking as it isn’t the biggest restaurant.<br/><br/>Will highly recommend this place to anyone.
Rustic_chivalry
Dig this place. Reminds me of a dodgy town in Italy where all the wannabe mafiosi hang out. Very authentic little restaurant with a crazy owner and a crazier chef. Probably one of the best Italians in the Edenvale/Greenstone/Bedfordview/Modderfontein/Kempton Park areas. Give it a go but don't piss on the owners cheerios because she will busta your balls.
Maria Tolsta
Nice atmosphere, great food, the taste is like it's been made with love, home made food. I can recommend it to everyone. We went for Valentines Day, this is what we have got in the pictures below, everything was delicious.. 👍🏻😉

Good food good people and easy going at most times need to book otherwise you will not get a table on the weekends, just good for chilling with family and friends

Good food, but be prepared to wait and wait. One hour after you order, if you lucky you get served. Place a bit cramped with tables on top of one another

Was here for team dinner. The Italian place is lovely with friendly staff. The owners are super friendly. Food was awesome. If you its your first time in SA Orange soda is a must try. They also play FIFA match on TV. A must try<br/>

Overall a very cosy place but it borders on cramped with all the tables in it. We ordered pasta, pizza and a kingklip dish that had butternut.<br/><br/>The pizza and pasta were good though a bit overpriced.<br/><br/>Unfortunately the kingklip was not properly cooked and the butternut was very hard. When we returned the dish, saying it was not cooked properly they brought back the same piece of fish which was cooked but they added an additional piece which was even more raw than the first one. It was so raw that you could tell immediately it was uncooked before even cutting it and the butternut was still hard.<br/><br/>Unfortunately we didn't even get an apology or a discount...<br/><br/>If you can't cook fish, don't put it on the menu.<br/><br/>Another issue we experienced was that none of the vegetarian dishes were labeled as such. We had to read every single pasta and pizza dish in its entirety to figure out what the vegetarian dishes were.

Never fails to please. predictable good fresh home tasting food. Pastas are fabulous and the veal dishes too. Very friendly staff and the owner so entertaining. The crunchy baked bits of cinnamon covered pastry at the end is such a nice touch. most enjoyable.
Candice Fonelli
Probably one of the best italian restaurants in the area. Really authentic food and always busy with a mediteranean vibe. Their pizzas are awesome, on par with Rossa's pizza. Bit on the pricey side but the food is good and worth every cent.

The hidden gem of Edenvale! Don’t let location fool you - a booking is still required as this place is packed with locals every day. A true authentic Italian experience - Graziella will visit your table and chat with you to ensure you are enjoying your meal. The focaccia is the best I’ve had (try the special) any pasta for main - they make it from scratch. Service is great and always with a smile.
Natalie Lazaris
If you feel like a hearty homely itallian restaurant, this is the place for you. The food is just divine, try a pasta or the veal, it's exceptional. Feels like your eating at an itallian mama's home.<br/><br/>Service is friendly and fast. The restaurant smells inviting and is just hospitable. Try the cannoli with ice cream, just worth it.

I have never walked into this Restaurant and the owner or Manager looks at me as if I have lost my mind requesting a table. I always try and think it’s wonderful they are so busy so opted for my Porcini Risotto takeaway! Only to get home and see they had used Brown Rice and not Risotto! At that price they are charging I was very disappointed
The Happy Pig
Da Graziella never disappoints. Stopped for a relaxed Sunday Treat. The Conignlio (Rabbit) has to rate five stars on its own. Truly delicious. Service was fast and attentive. You gotta try this place. Thanks to all at Da Graziella
Sharon Pereira
If you want authentic home style Italian cuisine, this is where you should go. Granted the decor is lack lustre but the food is heavenly. The owners walk around, greeting diners like they are family. Traditional lasagna, divine. Pizzas, with a thin crusty base, yummy! It’s a great place for celebrating a family occasion. No frills wholesome Italian food just like Mama used to make.

De Graziella has always been my "go to" special occasion restaurant. So haven't been in a while. Went there for a Saturday lunch 2 weeks ago. Prices have gone up quite a bit - menu hasn't been updated here on Zomato! They no longer serve you the complimentary home baked bread and Tapenade - now you only get 2 x bakery mini Panini which are warmed up. Seriously - how much does some complimentary tapenade cost you? Had a suppli and an arancini - they were nice but slightly warm on the inside not piping hot. For mains the veal pistachio - sauce was nice and creamy but fairly bland - LOTS of salt required, tomato baby marrows and pan fried spinach nice but the "roast potatoes" we ordered with our dishes were very thin slices of unpeeled potatoes that were "slap" and not crispy at all - if there were 10 slices it was a lot! The crumbed pork chops were good but how can you muck those up? Ordered the spaghetti marinara with white sauce for a takeaway - got home it was hunt the seafood and no sauce - it was dry, unappetising and overpriced - why do people put "seafood" on the menu and think it's a licence to overcharge and under-portion! Had the almond meringue for dessert which is always good but it's not made by them, it's bought in. It seems they have allowed greed to overtake them instead of good hearty well priced food. From what I hear the owners are very arrogant and don't take kindly to criticism - in that case this is what this platform is for. They have many regulars and I think that's what keeps them going - I don't think there is much effort to gain "new" customers. Good but not great.
Melissa Do Couto
Delicious, authentic Italian. Their supli and arancini are incredible and something I can't find anywhere else, I often go to da graziella just to pick up a few from the deli as a take away. Great place to eat.
Angela Bozzone Tranchitella
it's continuing to be a superb restaurant for 7 years now..... !! food is always excellent.  The service is always very good and the waiters are attentive and know the dishes very well.  A friendly and cosy atmostphere.  A must if you like Italian.
Wade Mounter
Limited parking or street parking. Very slow service. Long waits for food and drinks. Food is good but over priced for what you get. Sometime you have to ask twice for what you need. More waiters are needed

Da Graziella Restaurant “al solito posto” is a family-owned, authentic Italian restaurant which was established in August 2006 and its reputation preceded it! Almost every person that I have met from this part of the world sings its praises for good value for money and great quality food. <br/><br/>As we walked in this past weekend, I took in my surroundings.. Da Graziella is a quaint, colourful, cosy restaurant with plenty of character tucked away on a quiet road in Edenvale! One could actually feel as if they are in a sidewalk cafe in Rome as you are seated and I love that their wine list incorporates both South African and Italian wines. <br/><br/>Da Graziella's motto for success is:  “Good food, service & friendliness” and I actually could not fault this as that is exactly what we received! <br/><br/>Onto the food:<br/>I had already heard that their gnocchi and coveted Veal dishes are hard to beat, but wanted to try something a little different on my first visit so we started with several antipasti starters to share.. Smoked salmon and capers and the mixed grilled vegetable platter.<br/>Then, we moved onto a combination of  Ravioli in a Napoletana sauce (with an added touch of cream and chilli), Gnocchi (potato dumplings) with napoletana sauce (which were my least favorite course of the day) & the seafood linguine* which was pasta perfection. <br/>I will be returning to this little gem (again & again)!<br/><br/>*Recommendation: <br/>For the seafood lovers: their Linguine Scoglio al Cartoccio (seafood linguine oven-baked in foil)* is to die for.. <br/>For the vegetarians: their mixed grilled vegetable platter with its brinjals, baby marrows, peppers and chili is platter perfection..<br/>For the ravioli lovers: I highly recommend the Napoletana sauce (with a touch of cream and chili).<br/> <br/><br/>For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

A quaint restaurant with a homely feel. Parking is easily accessible and the service is warm and friendly. I had the asparagus and mushroom pasta. The fettuccine was cooked to perfection while the asparagus was over cooked and lacked some flavour. The parmigiana (starter) was delicious but the chocolate delight dessert was dry.

I love Italian food. And nothing excites me more than the prospect of Italian food cooked the traditional way. This is what you get when you go to Da Graziella’s in Dowerglen. The restaurant is located street side beneath a block of flats and immediately on parking your car you are greeted by warm yellow light, the sound of dozens of voices and the delicious scents of freshly made pizza. The decor is dated and filled with the requisite scenes of Italy but I find it adds to the authenticity of this Italian eatery.
Lisa
Da Graziella Ristorante is hidden away in Edenvale. The restaurant is full and most of all full of regulars. <br/><br/>We had chicken livers for starters, oooommmm so delicious and we got two rolls that were made to perfection to soak up the sauce. <br/><br/>I had the exotica pizza(bacon, avo and pepper dews) it was ok for an electric oven the base is thin but something is just not right. A wood oven would complete the flavour. <br/><br/>I am desperate to find a good wood oven pizza joint.

Awesome food best Italian restaurant we have been to in joburg, we came once by chance and have been back again and again<br/><br/>The seafood pasta in foil is a must and the steak with pistachios is awesome<br/><br/>The pizzas are delicious
Fabiana
This food is authentically Italian and delicious! <br/>Absolutely enjoy everything I eat everytime I go! <br/><br/>However, I do feel like it's always too full. There's never any space to move it's so crowded but other than that, divine!
Ashley Walker
I recently had dinner with my family here and we were so impressed with the quality of food and great service that we all agreed that this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Joburg. <br/><br/>Food: 9/10<br/>The food was fantastic. We were given fresh hot rolls while we waited for our starters. <br/>I had the Brown Mushrooms in Gorgonzola Sauce and they were cooked to perfection. I also tried a Suppli which is a rice ball with mince meat and a mozzarella centre- absolutely delicious and a must try. <br/>For my main I had the Ravioli with a Napoletana sauce. The ingredients were so fresh and the portion size was perfect. My Mom had the Veal Pistacchio which she said was the best that she has ever had. My Dad had the Grilled Calamari which he enjoyed, although he said it lacked sauce. We all had Sangria which was absolutely delicious. <br/>The food was really fantastic. Their pizzas here are great too if you want a take away. <br/><br/>Service: 10/10<br/>Our waiter was so friendly and took our order (both starters and mains together) without having to write anything down. Although the restaurant was really full, the service was great and we did not have to wait long for our food. <br/><br/>Ambience: 8/10<br/>This restaurant has a lovely family atmosphere and you can see that the people working there love what they do. Great music is playing and the restaurant is nicely decorated.<br/><br/>Value for money: 8/10<br/>Some of the dishes are quite pricey but it is definitely worth it as the ingredients are fresh and the food is tasty. <br/><br/>Overall, De Graziella is a must for anyone who loves Italian food!

Food was great, service was good although would of preferred it if the owner was more friendly. If you don't like the food be sure not to tell the owner or you have had it. But otherwise it was good.

Arriving at Da Graziella Ristorante, it has a very homey romantic feel, and you can smell all the delicious food. We had the special of the evening which was kingklip and Bee had the lasagne for dinner, very delicious...creme brulee and some lemon sorbet with limoncello for desert to end an awesome date night. would definitely recommend this place for a nice romantic night out with your lady...

What's in a name? Well when it comes to food the fancier, more Italian is probably the yummiest!<br/><br/>Highly recommended, and definitely worth the mention.<br/><br/>Very cosy and family orientated vibes. Wide variety of your favourite Italian dishes in the menu. As well as a great assortment of desert (YAY)!<br/><br/>We had some pasta (of course) and a very hearty butternut soup. The prices may seem a little pricey but it's well worth the anti-diet size portions.<br/><br/>Lovely and cozy restaurant. If you can't live without Italian cuisine then this is your place!<br/>

Unpretentious and down-to-earth. Certainly not ostentatious . Good food (Franco!) and good service (Martha!) for the most part (hell, we're all human). Linguine Scoglio al Cartoccio always a favorite!  Wouldn't go so far as to say "authentic Italian" but certainly close enough. They busy most of the time so book before you go. Would score higher marks if they changed the menu once in a while or introduced a decent specials menu. A safe choice. Ciao

Possibly one of the best kept secrets in the East! Everything about this just shouts perfection, passion and flavour! <br/><br/>We need a lot more traditional family owned and run masterpieces like this! This is by far my favorite restaurant now!<br/><br/>PS: The food was unbelievable and the service filled with smiles accompanied by highly skilled staff! <br/><br/>Bravo!

Stumbled on Da Grazia on way to another restaurant & decided to take out chances. <br/>So glad we did. <br/>Proper home made Italian food in a cosy relaxed environment.<br/>Good selection of Italian specialities plus the usual pizza $ home made pasta & home made desert selection. <br/>Good wine list. Attentive service. <br/>Reminds me of Cortina back in the day.

Beware the Specials menu! The waiter verbally tells you what is on it, so you have no idea what you will be paying until the bill arrives. Fillet Camembert R235, Veal with parma ham & mozarella R175. We love good food and the ambience at Da Graziella is always good, but these prices will not see us going again soon. When I phoned the next day to check that the prices were right, Graziella said she had to check with the waiter (really?! You don't know what you are charging off menu?) and would phone me back. I am still waiting for the phone call.... For any restauranteur how difficult is it to just print a few sheets out of the Specials for patrons to see or have a board with the specials on?

Delicious traditional Italian cuisine. A welcoming place to spend a relaxing time and eat like a queen. Warm atmosphere suitable for any occasion. Give it a try. You won't regret it. <br/>

Italian doesn't get better than this. Old style family ristorante decor with attentive service, a great deli and wonderful food. Melanzane and Porcini and Asparagus Risotto are musts.
Sue Brown
Nice vibe as always. Food disappointing for the price. Salmon and fish overcooked. No thought in presentation. Won't be going back. Pity as its such a nice convenient restaurant

Delicious home made Italian food definitely worth going there again and again. Seafood pasta is a must also! Smells like garlic and pizza !!

DaGraziella , between Bedfordview and Edenvale .<br/>Just had a lovely meal in this well establish restaurant, very popular with the Italians community . Great service , the food also good and the menu have a nice selections of traditional Italians dish just be aware that it is pricy , also a bit disappointed they were out of buffalo mozzarella on a busy night but still ... Great pizza base and the melanzane parmigiana nice and light with a nice top crunch top. Beautiful fritelle and the cannoli siciliani are a treat ! Booking is essential . <br/>

This is a lovely, authentic Italian restaurant. If you are a lover of homemade pasta and wood fired pizza, this is the place for you. I had the Veal Pistachio, which is veal smothered in the most delicious pistachio cream sauce. Served with 'home style' veggies and roast potatoes, this truly was a hearty dish full of flavor! The coffee after the meal was strong and petit, perfect because I was so full! A must try...

I went to this restaurant with my family for a meal on a tuesday evening. We were told that most of the restaurant was fully booked but the manager found us a table.<br/>On the positive side the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was very good, my wife ordered a Messicana Pizza and my children shared a Margharita Pizza. I ordered the Kingklip with Mash & Vegetables. When my food arrived I was left feeling somewhat cheated as before me lay a very thin piece of Kingklip (not thicker than 50mm) with a tablespoon of Mash and some spinach (1/2 a spoonful) and the balance of the veg was made up with carrots interspersed with two small pieces of pumpkin. I called the waiter and told him that I was not happy with the portion of fish I received as this is not that cheap in comparison with other venues where I have  had Kingklip. The waiter told the chef/owner of my complaint, and this irate arrogant man came over to our table with a frozen piece of Kingklip on a scale to show me that I got the correct portion. I told him that I have had Kingklip in other venues which are advertised as 250g on their menus as oppose to 300g on this venues menu, and the size, quality and price were bigger, better and cheaper in that order. He told me to rather go to the other venues to have Kingklip in future. He made an additional piece of fish for me, and when it came it was rock hard with very little taste. I am very disappointed with this venue and their owner/chef's attitude. The waiter and the head waiter on the other hand were very apologetic for his behavior. Judging by the reviews on this site it seems to me that this owner knows who his regular clientele are and reserves what good nature he has for them. Disgusting to say the least!
Epicurean Republic
A nice little restaurant tucked away on the outskirts of Dowerglen. The interiors are very traditional, nothing over the top, which creates an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming. My wife and I felt that the food was very overpriced. We enjoyed our food but for that price I would expect something a little more out of the flavour or the complexity of preparation.
Big Fat Italian
Good authentic no nonsense or over the top Italian restaurant, always busy so make sure you book ahead, service is friendly but a little slow possibly due to it always being full, not great for kids very crowded and very loud when busy, and I think it's time they invested in air conditioning extremely hot if you sitting inside and not on the veranda.
Jozie Foodie
This is a great Italian restaurant. It's a great treat if you are looking for a pure authentic Italian meal. Our waiter (Martha) was super friendly. The food was amazing. The restaurant has a nice warm atmosphere and was very busy so booking is essential. The pricing is a little high but the food was great and the desserts are yummy and different. I definitely recommend this place.
Lesa-Jo
I had a meal here this past week with my family. Both my brother and I had the roast lamb which was absolutely delicious. The lamb was tender and it comes with a tasty gravy as well. The vegetables and chips complimented the lamb well. This is such a great restaurant and is good value for money.
Janice Kelvin Leibowitz
A friend of mine brought me here and couldn't believe I'd never even heard of it, let alone never been here!! It's a gorgeous, quaint family-run Italian restaurant. Excellent service, great menu, amazing food and you will definitely be back for return visits so that you can try out the things on the menu that you didn't get around to on your first visit. In fact, take friends, order different things so that you can share! Once you've visited you'll be back for more!! It's a gem!!

Haven't eaten here for quite some time but we enjoyed a delicious meal here last night! We were given fresh rolls for the table which were still hot which was great! I had the meat ravioli with bolognese sauce which was delicious! Other meals which were also very good were the spaghetti marinara which had lots of seafood in it as well as the meat cannelloni and pollo pizza. <br/>Overall the service was good and our waiter was friendly. The restaurant has a homely Italian vibe. It is a little pricey but we enjoyed our meal and will be back!
Vinny
What a bustling little gem in the middle of Edenvale! The food was alluringly presented and wonderfully tasty! Service was friendly and atmosphere was electric! Such a great place to be...but do NOT forget to make a booking or you WILL be disappointed!
Arne Swanepoel
Authentic Italian cuisine. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service. The food is quite delectable and made extremely well. I woud say this is the ideal fine family dining location. The only cautionary thing I would point out is that this is a fine dining restaurant thus there is a bit of a price tag to an evening out. I highly recommend their baked cheese cake for those without a sweet tooth but still want desert.
Date Night
A lovely little intimate Old school Italian restaurant. Their pizza's are very good but their four cheese gnocchi is definitely the meal to go for - the gnocchi just melts in your mouth. We also tried one of their fillet specials with bacon and Avo which was good but I would rather suggest sticking to their pizza and pasta. Great place for a date if you want to keep things casual but still get a great meal.
Joshua Levi
Disatisfactory service. The food took over an hour to come and us as a table felt most neglected throughout the experience. However the food was great despite being tainted by the service.
Rose Marie Pereira
Another hidden gem of an Italian family owned restaurant whether you feel like pizza or pasta you won't be disappointed their arancini balls are delicious (deep fried rice balls) and love the deep fried pastry with icing sugar
Janey
Da Graziella is a local favourite for us! It's a lovely Family run by an old nonna & her husband. The place has amazing homemade food that never disappoints - even frozen portions you can take away
Jenna-Leigh De Wit
With such an authentic menu, dining at Da Graziella took me back to our Italian holiday last year. The owners were kind and attentive and the food was delicious. The supli (deep fried crumbed risotto rice balls with a tomato sauce and mozarella -yummm) is a must try!
Aliaksandra
I have only heard and read really good things about Da Graziella. I have even heard that it is one of very few places in Jo-burg which have the Italian Embassy’s stamp of approval for authentic Italian food. Now if you heard that, it would make you very excited too, wouldn’t it?. Well it made us very excited so we chose a Saturday night, and ventured off to Edenvale. I booked a table for 6 of us that evening (as apparently this place gets very busy).
Monique Pereira
Most precious Italian gem in Edenvale! We always go here when we feel like authentic Italian! From the pizzas to the pastas to the home cooked meals - everything is so delicious and made with love! My favourite meal is their Amarticiana penne pasta, I'm yet to find a place to make it as delicious as they do!<br/><br/>Be sure to book if you want to secure a table, as they are constantly fully booked! However, take always are just as perfect! :)<br/><br/>The waiters are also really friendly and the service is good! Pocket friendly Resturant too!
Clare Appleyard
Popular Italian spot and with good reason. Much of the pasta is freshly made and the cherry tomato, garlic and chili fettuccine is outstanding - but your friends might not appreciate the garlic the next day. Strangely they don't have a wood-fired pizza oven, but that doesn't seem to affect the quality of the pizzas.
Marika_Mav
I haven't had such good pasta in a long time! Our waitress was on the ball and the service was great. The clam pasta, lasagne and polpettine pasta dishes are great options. The fish dishes are great too. It's a bit more on the expensive side but not too overpriced for what you're getting! The setting is simple and creates a lovely ambiance for their traditional Italian meals. We will be back!
Matthew
Homely atmosphere with some yummy Italian food. A little gem in edenvale, it's definitely worth the visit. They are very busy though so make sure you book. I had a lasagne and it was lovely. One of the better Italian restaurants in Johannesburg.
Lucille Moodley
Absolutely love this restaurant. Absolutely authentic and simply delicious Italian food. Every meal I have had here has been superb along with excellent service. Comes highly recommended and hands down the best Italian restaurant in the east.
Jude Inggs
We went here for lunch after seeing that it had such good reviews. I now can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu. It is a lovely  restaurant with a great atmosphere, good service, and the food was  excellent. I tried the oven-baked seafood linguine, which was absolutely delicious, and my husband had the ravioli, which was also very good. I will not hesitate to return. If you want delicious. freshly cooked Italian food, you really can't go wrong with this restaurant. The menu is varied, with pastas, pizza, seafood and a large variety of meat dishes.
Lucinda
I have never sat down to eat here, have only ever ordered take aways. Their pizzas are delicious! Quality ingredients and nice base. Their salads are also always very fresh and crispy.
David Wolpert
Disagree with rating. Been going there for years all the way from northern suburbs.<br/>Always had great food and good friendly service.Prices are reasonable with a large and varied menu.Good vibe too.<br/>I highly recommend this eatery.<br/>One of my favourites.<br/>Revisited today. Again the food and service were great, but I did find the recent high price increases disturbing.

We were so disappointed with this so called Italian restaurant my wife and her family are Italian and we know how good Italian food is and love it so much so when we heard about this restaurant we def. wanted to try it out and boy oh boy were we in for a surprise, after our first bad experience their we thought we would give it another shot and to our surprise we got the same bad experience, the restaurants food is mediocre at best, the owners are rude and can not take Criticism at all, they are not friendly and very fake, menu is way over priced for below average food, so disappointed and we will def. not be going back, example of the bad way we got treated was.... My wife orders the seafood pasta and as it was brought to our table we could smell the garlic from a mile away and as she tried it, she nearly choked on how strong the aroma was when we complained the owner aka old lady woman chef came to our table and asked us what was wrong with the dish, after telling her what was wrong she told us we are obviously not Italian and don't know what Italian food tastes like and that there was nothing wrong with that dish, extremely rude and obnoxious that's not how you treat your guests, will def. not be supporting that restaurant with my hard earned cash will eat somewhere else that's for sure!!!!
Andrew
Myself and my partner in crime decided to come here for dinner on Wednesday.<br/><br/>It's was fully booked but the owner or manager made a plan and got us a seat. We really appreciated this and we're now ready to try the food on offer.<br/><br/>We wanted to try the imported good that was on offer and ordered the lemon soda and a bottle of still water. For starters we ordered the creamy mussels and the mushroom which we wanted crumbed. <br/><br/>For mains we ordered the mushroom and asparagus risotto and the seafood special which consisted of hake, calamari, prawns, vegetables and chips and a sauce which was described to me as an Italian cream cheese sauce. The fish was done well and the calamari cooked to perfection. The prawns were fresh and well done. The sauce on the other hand wasn't to my liking as I thought there might be a bit too much brandy on the sauce. I didn't use the sauce. My partners risotto was also done well and had great mushroom taste. The risotto wasn't too soggy and wasn't undercooked. One of the better risotto she has had in johannesburg.<br/><br/>For dessert we ordered a Sicilian canolo. Pastry filled with pistachio fruit and cream. This was pretty decent and different to what I've tried. <br/><br/>All in all a nice evening out with friendly service and nice food.

We arrived at about 6:30pm on a Wednesday evening, greeted by friendly faces and we asked for a table of two. They were fully booked but they accommodated us by making a plan~~~~ we were very pleased to have a table. <br/><br/>It's a cosy restaurant, it filled up very quickly. Full house on a Wednesday evening. <br/><br/>The menu with variety of imported goods from Italy and we are eager to try. I had a lemon soda from Italy and we had a bottled still water. <br/><br/>The waitress was quite knowledgable with the menu and she introduced the evening specials to us. We ordered some fresh mussels in a creamy sauce, and crumbed mushrooms for starters. Mussels were really nice, all cleaned well, the sauce is tasty too but it was really salty :( the crumbed mushroom is porcini mushrooms cut into slices and it didn't come with any sauce, thought it was a little dry but it was tasty. <br/><br/>Mains I had a porcini mushroom and asparagus risotto, which was well prepared, the risotto was not soggy nor undercooked, seasoned well and flavorsome.<br/>My partner ordered a recommended seafood special which consist of grilled hake, calamari and prawns with chips and vegetables. The seafood was fresh but the vegetables were below average, the platter also came with a sauce, we asked for it to be separately served, and this sauce felt like half of bottle of brandy went into it. <br/><br/>For dessert we shared a Sicilian cannolo, tube shaped pastry filled with ricotta cheese, pistachio and fruit pieces. It was interesting, it wasn't too sweet which was nice. <br/><br/>This little place has an authentic Italian feel, their imported good and welcome atmosphere, it feels like we stepped into a home of an Italian family, the food is homey, but needs some attention to details in my opinion. <br/><br/>Recommendations: <br/>Pre-book<br/>Try their Italian produces <br/>

This is little Italy come to SA. The service is always a pleasure. My favourite is that everything on the menu, Is amazing. I know this because I have tried it all. When Graziella pops her head out, you'll know. Have a chat, eat and drink!

Really cosy and intimate restaurant! Decor was perfect for the atmosphere they are trying to create! Food was good! Tried out their caltzone and pleasantly impressed. Service however was a little on the slow side but still a great night out!

Great Italian spot. Well run, and always busy. Veal is delicious and soft. and they make a very good creme brulee. Nice variety on the menu.

If you're looking for a homely atmosphere and good food, this is the place. Eaten here on numerous occasions and will continue to do so. Can get busy, but that's no different to the other popular restaurants in and around Joburg. Their pasta dishes are their forte. <br/>

This is the best Gnocchi in Gauteng! It's homemade and it is divine! <br/><br/><br/>A definite must try! <br/><br/><br/>Be sure to book a table before going. <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

Having recently returned from a trip to italy, I can safely say that the moment I walked into Da Graziella, I felt like I was back on holiday. You have to make a booking for this very popular Cnr cafe setup, which we didn't- however the owner was lovely, and managed to squeeze us in. We shared a squid and crab salad which was very tasty. In keeping up with my quest to find the worlds greatest carbonara pasta, (second to a little resturant in rome belongs to La Mamma in ferndale), I ordered it, and my boyfriend had something called the 4'ps (pollo, pesto, pine nuts and something else) wrapped in cannelloni. Both were delicious. Not as amazing as Italy and la mamma, but still very tasty! I will most certainly return!

Fantastic restaurant. Authentic Italian. Best Rabbit I've had in a long time. Thanks Graziella and staff. Service was quick, friendly and spot on. Will definitely return.

What a let-down.  I ordered grilled lamb chops.  The waitress asked how I want them done and I asked for medium. What arrived was wafer thin bits of lamb (not cutlets). Apply even a touch of heat to those portions and they would be well-done.  I said to the waitress that I would pay for the lamb, but to show me the menu again.  The cook came out of the kitchen and was patently not happy with me. He informed me that this was the first complaint he'd had about his lamb in eight years.  When I pointed out that I was offered a choice in how they were grilled—which indicated to me that they could do this—but what I received were these 2 or 3 cm thin bits of overcooked meat he told me that all butchers in Edenvale cut lamb like that.  Well, now I know (according to that cook) that Edenvale has it's own take on lamb chops—the rest the country would expect a cutlet about 30 cm (or more) thick . I had a very average lasagna and was not charged for the lamb.

So surprised by the mixed reviews. Went to Graziella for dinner last week and had such a delicious meal! From the moment you walk in everything from the decor to the aromas from the kitchen combine to create a relaxed, traditional Italian atmosphere. I had the mussels in cream & brandy to start, which was superb! For main course I went for the four cheese gnocchi which was absolutely delicious. Some of the nicest gnocchi I've had in ages. A really good meal.

Absolutely delicious!!! Best italian food in the east for sure. The butternut panzerotti is life changing. Definitely going back there soon.

Authentic Italian for those willing to wait for a little taste of Italy. Bustling and busy it can sometimes feel slightly claustrophobic and as such the service is quite slow on occasion. Reservations are a must - it can be very hard to get a table without one. My advice? book for an extra two people so you have some extra elbow room! <br/><br/>make sure to visit the deli section and take home some of their amazing pasta sauces for when your having one of those lazy days and still want a little italy

This is probably my least favourite Italian restaurant and definitely on of my top 10 worst restaurants. My wife love the seafood pasta which is probably the only dish that is partly edible. The service is shocking. Food can take up to 2 hrs to get of the kitchen and when the food is terrible the owners attitude is my food is perfect, your tastebuds need adjusting. I have been here over 10 times and every single dish I have ordered I could not eat. Rather just stay home or get a pie from the quick shop next door

Good authentic Italian food. Love the atmosphere and homely feel. Service was good!

If you are ever looking for more than a decent Italian restaurant this is the place. Traditional is the name of the game as this is a family run restaurant. You will need to book on a weekend, come rain or shine as they get really busy. Any pasta or pizza dish is great. Some pasta is also made by the restaurant as you can't get better than fresh. <br/><br/>For vegetarians you always have a great selection in an Italian restaurant so there is no worry here. The quality, service and price is very good. Suppli is not an easy thing to find in JHB, unless you make it yourself, so luckily you can enjoy it here unelss you are vegetarian.<br/><br/>I would like to however note that sometimes the service is not too good however and you may need to wait a little longer so just let the owner know so she can give the staff a "slap on the wrist"

Quaint little Italian spot with authentic flavors and dishes. Great wine selections both red and white. Food is great from starters to mains and even a great dessert selection. Gets super busy on weekends so booking essential as well as night shifts during the week. Service is generally good and no complaints have been made.

I have only heard and read really good things about Da Graziella. I have even heard that it is one of very few places in Jo-burg which have the Italian Embassy's stamp of approval for authentic Italian food.<br/>I booked a table for 6 of us that evening (as apparently this place gets very busy), but when we arrived the table wasn't ready and we had to wait 15 mins.<br/>The place itself does not have the trendiest of decors, but has a rather homely feel.<br/><br/>We waited around 20 minutes for the waiter to come around and take our drinks & starters order.<br/>All the food was pretty average, and the biggest shocker... The cream of the Spaghetti Carbonara was burned and as a result the whole pasta just tasted burned. We called over the waiter, and told his to take it away and make a new one.<br/><br/>A couple of minutes later, the owner and chef came out of the kitchen to do his rounds of the restaurant. He was very friendly to the table next to us, but turned to us and harshly said "Who here got the carbonara? oh you? (pointing at me)", I replied by saying that yes, it was mine, and it was burned. He then got very defensive and tried to angrily convince me that I don't know what I'm talking about, and that the burned taste was actually the smoky taste of the bacon. Now I'm sorry, I'm not dumb and can differentiate between smoky and burned. He then proceeded to storm off saying he won't cook the meat in the pasta then. When the pasta arrived for the second time, the Spaghetti was under cooked... But at least it didn't taste burned anymore. <br/><br/>All of us just sat there, amazed at how rude an owner could be to his customers. My pasta finally arrived (with spit it in I'm sure), and now didn't taste burned, but instead the pasta was under cooked... <br/><br/>We decided not to have dessert that night, and just got the bill... Which arrived 20 mins later. We then had to run around the restaurant for another 15 mins trying to chase down our waiter to pay the bill.<br/><br/>We definitely won't be coming back... <br/><br/>For a full review, check out: http://lexieats.tk/da-graziella-edenvale-review/<br/>

This is the most divine italian restrants Its a small little place, but they have the most amazing italian food.<br/>Its very fresh and home made just like your nonna cooked it.<br/>so orthentic and very cosy a must for sunday lunch or a quite relaxed dinner.

For a Sicilian restaurant this is probably as good as we are going to get in Jozi, it's run by brother and sister authentically "home made" try the pasta with Broccoli, great wine list if they have everything in stock, service is sometimes slow so sip on a glass of Chianti and enjoy the southern Italian hospitality.

I've been to this restaurant a number of times, but never out of choice. You can't get in here without a reservation. Why it's so popular, I don't know. The place is tiny, they try and squash as many patrons in there as possible, resulting in constantly having to scoot around to allow waitrons and other diners through. It's not cosy, it's claustrophobic.<br/><br/>A few years ago, Da Graziella received a nod with popular food critic Victor Strugo, it seems they're still hanging on to that, as the review is proudly displayed on their walls, however, I've not found anything there that warrants the popularity.<br/><br/>The first time I dined there, I had a veggie pizza which was okay. My partner opted for rabbit , which was extremely salty. Other friends thought their food was ordinary as well. The only thing that stood out for me was a dessert they had, consisting of chocolate, nuts, meringue. However, subsequent visits have found the quality in the dessert faltering. <br/><br/>Parking is limited, as this restaurant is not in a mall, and even though this place is literally just up the road from me, it's not my first, second or third choice when I'm looking for a good night out with some yummy Italian food.
