Review The Cow Shed - East London

I travel to East London on business and this is one if the restaurants I like to visit each time. Always busy, good service and fairly priced. Im in the fuel security business so when I noticed the DIESEL sauce I had to try it. It a creamy Jalapeño sauce milder than a green pepper sauce that was disappointing as it was vet mild. Steak was average and fat was very grisly. Friendly Staff and Good Service

We were very impressed with this restaurant. It's not big, but they are big on excellent service and great food! There is such a wide variety of side dishes to choose from and their steak is done to perfection. Love the atmosphere ... it is definitely worth visiting The Cow and Milk Shed.

only opens at 12 in the morning. missing out on breakfast. food was perfect. just portion size on the small side for me personally. other then that lovely place to have lunch and supper and cosy romantic dinner.

We went to The Cow Shed on a Friday night for a group dinner, and we were welcomed by very friendly staff. They accommodated our group with a tablet even when we forgot to book, and their place was busy. The staff were very friendly, knowledgably and accommodating. And the drinks and the food were amazing. Our steaks were cooked to our liking, the burgers were some of the best one out there, and the portions are spot on! We highly recommend this restaurant and would go back again

Amazing spot and the food was exceptional. Well priced for the quality and was a very good steak. Potato skin starter was also a winner. Thanks for the great experience and would highly recommend. Is the best restaurant in EL, hidden gem.

Today was my second visit to the restaurant. My first visit was weekday evening, at the bar side of the establishment but today I went for a weekday lunch at the restaurant side. The menu is the same so, you get to have the food whichever side you sit in. Both times it was not very busy. The food here has been amazing both times. Their serving sizes are very generous. The staff was friendly and attentive both times. I will certainly be back and would recommend it to anyone - for solo, couple or group dining.

I arrived at the restaurant and was served immediately with friendly staff. There wasn't that many seats available so booking in advance might be needed if you plan on coming in a group or more than 2 people. I ordered a Salted Caramel Milkshake, and a Beef and Reef. The milkshake was one of the best I've had, it had a nice sweet and creamy taste, without being to overpowering on sweetness. And when it came to my meal, the steak was exactly medium as ordered, the shrimp was deveined and had a nice butter taste. It's just my preference but the onion rings and chips, I would have preferred crisper. Overall it was a nice experience, just due to personal preference I gave it a 4/5.

Pity the kitchen closes at nine - especially on a public holiday. This wasn't mentioned on their website with the business hours. Great service from Aiden saved the day!

A perfect ambience with good music, delicious food and a friendly staff. I love to be here and recommend it to everybody who‘s visiting the City. Also the bar one floor higher is nice to be and get something to drink.

Traveling all the way from South-East London in the UK, we didn’t expect to find such a hidden gem in East London, SA! I can’t recommend The Cow Shed highly enough - not only were our steaks cooked to PERFECTION (seasoned just so, cooked exactly to order and with obvious passion; check out the Confit Garlic Sauce!) - the staff were welcoming, friendly, knowledgable and clearly knew a thing or two about wine too, sooooo good. Treat yourselves, you won’t regret it.

Great service and great food! I was only in East London for a few days but can honestly say it was the best meal I had whilst I was there. Would recommend this place to anyone passing through or staying in town!

What an amazing restaurant! We had the most delicious steak, clearly carefully selected and cooked to absolute perfection and paired with a stunning red wine (which is now my new favourite!). I couldn't recommend this place more highly - go and enjoy for yourself!!

What an awesome place, with good food and very well managed. We were looking for a place to watch the rugby and found this gem of a place by accident.

Lovely food, excellent service, great menu, good value for money, gentle background music so conversation was easy. So much to recommend this charming restaurant.

Absolutely the best Rump I have ever had. Stirling job. . Service was excellent. Had 4 clients with and all 5 of us ordered different steaks.. totally blown away..well done.. defanatly have my best restuarant now.

The food was good. I was a wee bit disappointed the my Pork Belly wasn't rind on and that they give a piece of crackling separate. It was however delishious. I am not sure if it is a serious restaurant or a burger joint as the decor is tasteful but a tad relaxed. They do not have a kiddies menu. Does this mean they do not encourage children?

Really enjoyed the Wednesday special. Beer battered fish and chip's. Nice selection of sides to add to your meal. Service was good. Ambience good. Lovely dinning experience. Would go again.

Best restaurant in town! I had the lamb shank and my husband had the shed burger - both were perfect in every way! For dessert we shared the salted caramel mousse topped with frozen blueberries - we thought we had died and gone to heaven. Thank you Cowshed for a really great evening.

Everything was perfect. The food was out of this world, so delicious and well presented. The staff were professional and friendly as well. Cannot wait to pop in again to try something new! All the best guys!

I've received better service at KFC. Absolutely shocking service, topped off by dirty wine glasses. Took about 20 minutes to get asked whether we will be having a meal. Had two ask for clean wine glasses on two occasions, even that did not help. Overall underwhelming experience, topped off by a cold reception. Not making this mistake again.

Best rump steak I,'ve had. Loved the place.. service was great and will definitely be back
