Review Zeyla Mediterranean Restaurant - Durbanville

We were the only people at the restaurant when we went which was a great shame as the food was excellent. Friendly and attentive service. The mezze platter was delicious, particularly the hummus and eggplant, green bean and baby marrow dishes. We also tried one of the specials, watermelon salad, which was beautifully presented and quite tasty. Good selection of drinks and spirits too. A hidden gem in Durbanville!

We placed our order through the My Orders App. We paid R178 for a Tappas platter for 2 and ordered an extra flatbread and 2 Falaffel balls. The platter for 2 was advertised as 7 different Tappas dishes with 2 Turkish breads enough for 2 people. What we received was not enough for 1 person even WITH my extra order let alone for 2 people.
They didn't include the 2 Turkish breads neither the 7th dish. However most of the "dishes" were just spreads or sauces. The Julienne Carrot dish was a sum total of 1 tablespoon without Cumin or any other spice (just fried in oil). They delivered the balance of the order but again, still not enough. As a qualified chef I was completely disgusted with the portion control and the lack of proper dish planning. A plate full of spreads and sauces cant really be advertised as Tappas for 2. Tappas can include wraps, olives, prawns, kofte pitas, salads, smoked aubergines, tabbouleh, Lamb kebabs, Yoghurt and spiced chicken skewers, filled filo pastries, Dolmades, Calamari, the list is endless. Time to change your Chef Zeyla Restaurant.

We did not had a good experience at all. First the table outside I wanted to sit at was broken, the window supported the table in keeping it up straight. Then the poppers were burnt and the pictures in the menu is misleading compared to what we received.

Food was great and tasty, for starters I had the poppers and cheese filled pastry, I also shared the mixed grill the meat was amazing and so soft. The waitress was friendly and helpful, Can't wait to try other goodies on their menu.

Even though this little place is not in a great part of Durbanville, the food was Fabulous!! When we were inside it really felt like a little back street local restaurant somewhere in Europe.

Fantastic food, and the service is excellent. The Northern Suburbs need more restaurants like these with authentic food. THIS A MUST TRY !!

Very great breakfast. One of the best Turkish coffee i ever had. Take care to try the Meze Platter, Cold Meze Platter, Hummus. I like it very much it is my favorite restaurant for breakfast. And my favorite as a cafe. And i need to discover more items in the menu.

Really enjoyed our visit to Zeyla.

Had a Meze Platter to share. Food was soooo delicious, refreshing and different! - JUST what Durbanville needs :) Best humus I have EVER had.

Very cozy restaurant and a very authentic Mediterranean style menu.

My only recommendation is that they should perhaps hire an additional waiter ... Poor guy did an awesome job; but he was ALSO running most of the restaurant himself, as far as I could tell. (training staff at counter; checking up on kitchen staff; taking orders, etc) Some help is always good :)
