Review Jean Restaurant - Durbanville

English Rose
Went there for lunch on 22 October 2023. It was such a hot day, we opted to sit inside. It was packed inside and outside but they managed to find us a seat. Extremely friendly staff, especially our waiter Brendan, who made us feel at ease and was very good at communicating about delays. He also provided us with useful insights when we asked about the menu. I ordered the oven roasted crown of quail and my partner ordered the pork tomahawk (only took a pic of the one side of the tomahawk, there was a second plate). The presentation and portion size blew were spectacular. We left full I would highly recommend this place.

Outstanding in every aspect. My first visit to Jéan restaurant will definitely not be my last. Our party was large but not one person was disappointed with their meal, the service or the ambience. The restaurant was busy but no-one was neglected. The food was outstanding (breakfast) and hot. Each cup of coffee I had was piping hot - just the way I like it. The gluten free toast was very good as was the gluten free Orange Almond tart. This restaurant is attentive to its guests and the food is awesome.

One of the very few 5 stars I have given! The venue and view is great. You get to sit right next to the vineyards will rolling hills behind. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Food was outstanding. We were a table of 6 ordering 3 burgers and 3 Karoo lamb dishes. Probably the best looking burger I have ever seen 😂😂 think homemade pattie, lots of bacon, slice of cheese and the chips looked tasty and well seasoned. My Karoo lamb was unbelievably tender, and all the bits on the side tasted great and were presented well too. Overall you could taste and see that the food was made with care and attention. We did not have deserts, but I ordered a few as a take away for the family at home and they lived them all. Will definitely bring the family next time and a good choice for foreign visitors. BTW, there is a small shop selling interesting goodies and wine tasting next door.

Went as a work end-of-year function geoup event. Great scenery if you like winelands and gentle hills. Food is very tasty, and staff are very friendly and helpful. No mixed up orders. Personally I am not a fan of their wine, especially the rosé. Food more than made up for it though.

What is not to like about a great setting overlooking the vineyards, amazing food and decent service? Even though the service could be a little more attentive, it was rather busy over the lunch rush hour. The yellowtail on a bed of herby couscous with arancini balls and sauce was perfectly balanced and enjoyable. My friends equally enjoyed their gravadlax and hamburger with chips. The restaurant is not far out of Cape Town city and definitely worth visiting.

Amazing and beautiful place - my waiter was amazing as well! This would have been a 5 star, which is rare in my taste, but that's just me. I arrived and the hostess told my partner and I we have 30mins until Lunch bookings were gonna take place and there's 3 minutes to order. I said fine. When I got to my table my waiter told me I still have around 45mins-an hourish, which seems around right as lunch would've started at 12:30 and it was 11:35am at the time. I found that a bit of a throw off. However, Amazing experience from my waiter, food was amazing as well, once again - a beautiful place! 🤘

The restaurant is big and airy with good airflow, and the tables are not too close together. The restaurant also has other COVID-19 measures in place. The staff are friendly and helpful. Good coffee. The menu has a relatively limited amount of dishes, but there is something that should appeal to most tastes. The food is delicious, and there are a lot of gorgeous desserts to choose from in the deli.

We had booked, and were shown to an awful table in the middle of an apparent walkway. People were rushing past us either side, as it seemed like there was a hen party of some sort on the go. So, a noisy venue where we waited for over half an hour after being seated for someone to take a drinks order. The five stars are because they were incredibly busy and after that initial hiccup (with no complaint from us) full service resumed, and extraordinarily so. Khyle was knowledgeable and his recommendation as to both wine and food spot on. Gorgeous place, exceptional food (even after realising you’d paid a lot of money for a deconstructed taco, essentially, but the best taco ever).

Lovely concept with restaurant and deli combined. The food was excellent and there are decadent treats in the Deli too. There is also a shop with gorgeous kitchenware to buy. After lunch we were not ready to leave so we bought a bottle of wine at the self service then went and sat among the vineyards on mats and bean bags which are provided and we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon. I would recommend this as the perfect spot to destress.

This restaurant was beyond incredible. The waitress offered exceptional service and the views were incredible. I would definitely recommend this restaurant anyone looking for a little bit of a temporary break away. Portions were really big. I had enough left over for 2 more meals.

Lovely venue for a long lunch. Great views with great service. Menu is short but varied. Highly recommend taking a walk amongst the vines afterwards (they have 3 distances).

What a pleasant experience. The food was good, excellent service and the location and scenery was beautiful. Just popped in for breakfast but definitely want to return with my family and explore a bit more. Would definitely recommend. Fyi. Loads of parking and the parking is free.

Really nice restaurant situated in Klein Roosboom Wine farm. Play area outside for the kids is a bit distant. So you can not eat and watch them play. Food is great, presentation of the food is amazing. Great vibe. It’s a bit pricey but worth it.

We had a superb time at Klein Roosboom's Jean Restaurant this afternoon. The service, atmosphere and food were all great, I recommend the Bitterballen, they were delicious. One slight issue was the closing time - this Google Maps page indicated a closing time of 5pm, however we were informed by the staff that closing is in fact 4pm, Perhaps a correction on maps is in order?

Oh my word..what a beautiful tranquil fabulicious venue to have a breakfast get together. Staff is friendly yet super efficient. Really awesome place with a bakery shop that sells the most beautiful cakes and gift items. The birthday plate was a lovely touch to celebrate a special day. And to Josie who served us....you were just amazingly awesome..so patient.. thank you!
