It was my first time visiting Ke-Monate, we met up with some friends for some lunch. It’s a really beautiful venue and gets really busy, I would suggest making a booking to avoid waiting. We had the sliders for lunch and they were delicious! If you’re a picky eater, ask what the toppings are on each slider before ordering as it is not stated on the menu. Overall a lovely experience!
We decided to drive down that road in Durbanville with all the wine estates and randomly pick one that enticed us. We didn't even start when bf turned left to signal gun. The dude was starving. What a lovely choice, thanks bf tummy.

Bf had the porky pizza. It was huge and even the hungry tummy couldn't finish it. He loved it. I had the starter mussels and good gosh, it was glorious. I usually order mussels if I go to a place the first time(aim is to find the best mussels... Well at least those not on the bf hehehe) and its the first time I'm had it with the usual cream, garlic and white wine WITH red pepper and chilli in the sauce. It's now firmly no. 2 on my quest.
No need to mention but I'm definitely going back.
Stopped by for lunch today and Wow.... the best pizza I have ever had!!! Service was fantastic!! Even though they were very busy for lunch time. And not too badly priced either.
We love this place! Why? Great menu! Great service! The best rustic like pizza with a crust close to the texture of phyllo pastry...Harley (waiter) serving us in a style the pub CHEERS only can make you feel...a family friendly environment with a great variety of wines! Saturday music creates a feeling of care and thoughtful service! Thank you...will recommend this to all looking for good food and good service in a relaxing environment!
Hi me and my wife went for lunch and we shared the three burger sliders it was so nice the view and company was awsem there service good I would go back again and recommend this place

The country life on the warm summery day called out for some wine. I had a lovely sauvignon blanc known for the Durbanville region. It was served nice and cold. The ambiance was nice not alot of people there so i could enjoy my wine in silence.
I read alot about the burgers and when I saw my pulled pork burger in person my jaw fell open. It was presented so beautifully and boy oh boy did he taste great. One of the best pulled pork i’ve ever had and served so big. One negative tho is that my friend found a bone in his burger.
Overall experience was great would definitely go there again and i would like to try the other 2 burgers 😃

Awesome place!! Decent live bands on Sunday. Best Fig pizza I have ever had! Great beer on tap! Some served by the 1L. You will easily spend the whole day.
The Pizza's are delicious. Thin crispy base. Tasty, quality toppings. Pricing is excellent value for money. On average for pizza and drinks (wine and beer) it was R165 per person. Service was good. A bit slow at times (but the waiters are very friendly and helpful). Location is lovely. We sat outside in the sunshine.
Had an amazing craftbeer and snitchel. Awesome place to hang out with your friends over weekends. Friendly service. Great location, and lovely view over the vineyards.

Total surprise! A gem in the heart of the Durbanville wine valley. Really Impressive wines, great food friendly and efficient service. Great for kids too, except the play area is quite far and can't be seen from the restaurant. Their menu however is fresh and delicious. And the setting is utterly beautiful, with a view that's second to none.
Signal gun I feel is one of the Durbanville wine farms that gets over looked unless you specifically live in the northern suburbs.
It's honestly worth a visit, the decking area outside is great for sundowners and they have some really cool theme nights and specials during the week too.
My favourite thing so far here was their pizza and wine pairing, I was such a pessimist before I went, I love pizza and thought- really how well can it go with wine???
Well they proved me wrong
Each mini (except not that mini the size if very generous) pizza was paired perfectly with the wine.
And a nice thing Base that doesn't overwhelm the toppings.
Ham and pineapple with sauvignon blanc? Yes!
Mushrooms and chardonnay? Yes!
Biltong and merlot??? Yes!
Blue cheese and cab sav?? Yes!!!
Hope they mix this up regularly so I can keep going back for more!
Went for some afternoon wine tasting and was great. Views are gorgeous. Staff are friendly and attentive. Didn't eat here though - will next time
This review is for their Tasting Room! I hope zomato adds their tasting room to be able to review, as it is separate from their restaurant and is such a nice little spot where you can spend an entire afternoon relaxing, drinking wine and eating a cheese board. What more could you want :) Me and a friend came here to have a cheese platter and some wine, when we arrived they were very busy and almost didn't seem to acknowledge us which was very frustrating, but one of the waitresses spotted us and turned the slightly negative first introduction around.
A table of hers was just about to leave so she organise this lovely little table outside under the trees where you sit on these giant cushions. Such a lovely setting. They have cheese and wine combos so for R175 you can get a cheese platter and a bottle of wine for 2 people.
If you want a place to just relax and not need someone checking on you every 5 minutes this is the place. Will def be back for some more cheese and wine :) :)
Food was fantastic. They adjusted and catered for our big group with ease. Even brought the food out to us at the wine tasting. Very happy, highly recommend.
We had a great experience. View was great. My peach & pork salad portion was more like a side salad portion but tasted great. My hubbies burger had no complaints either. Would go back
Really nice day out. Had chicken spring roll starters - filled with chicken and comes with sweet chilli dipping sauce. Had the tramezini off the summer menu, which was good value for money. Also had Christmas pizza which had gammon, camembert, cranberry and rocket toppings, it was good but a bit sweet for my liking. Wines here are amazing! My favorite are the smoked sauvignon blanc and the rose. Excellent peaceful setting. Has picnic baskets and play area for kids.

The restaurant has a fantastic view northeast of the mountains and is surrounded by vineyards. The food was average to say the least lacking any bespoke touches suitable of such an exceptional location. Value for money is also not synonymous with this restaurant. Ke-Monate is a lovely bistro style restaurant situated in the heart of the Durbanville Winelands - a mere 30 minute drive from Cape Town on the Hooggelegen farm. The Hooggelegen farm has been family run for over five generations and is also home to the Signal Gun Winery. The bistro is all about good food, great company and delicious wine. The menu is uncomplicated and specialises in bistro style dishes and pizzas. They have weekly themed evenings with live entertainment every second Friday and they support their neighbours by serving a selection of wines from the Durbanville Wine Valley (as well as their own, of course).
Ke-Monate is a Sotho word which means “dis lekker” or “that’s nice” and our experience at the restaurant was just that. The atmosphere was relaxed and homely and the staff were friendly and eager to fill us in on all the fascinating stories and history of the farm. Not only do they serve great dinners, but they also do wine tastings, picnics, breakfast, game drives and even a good old canon firing every now and then.
The menu has all your firm favourites on offer but instead of the same old toppings and sauces, Ke-Monate is keeping things fresh and adding their own special flair... like the Diablo starter (dates wrapped in streaky bacon, deep fried and served with secret bbq sauce) or the Gunade Pizza (Gammon, pineapple, mango coulis, pepperdew & mozzarella). Its so refreshing to see different dishes on a menu. I absolutely love that they have themed evenings... it really keeps you wanting more... We are already planning a return visit for Mexican night and a day of wine tasting followed by a game drive and would love to visit when they fire their 300 year old cannon... ok, we are planning a whole bunch of return visits ;)
I ordered their specialty dish... the Chicken & Bacon Roll (Chicken fillet stuffed with feta and dates, wrapped in bacon and drizzled with secret Ke-Monate sauce with salad R95) - the chicken was tender and juicy with lovely flavours throughout. I ordered it with salad and I'm so glad i did because it complimented the dish perfectly and was packed with olives and feta (YUM). Lop ordered a Muzzle pizza (Mushrooms, salami, olives, creamy feta and mozzarella cheese R74) - fresh quality ingredients on a thin base and baked in the wood oven. You can't beat a wood oven pizza and if it has olives on it then it’s a winner.
We had such a lovely evening at Ke-Monate. Good food, great company and delicious wine indeed. We left feeling completely satisfied and happy and 100% wanting to go back the next day for more.
Lovely venue with a great selection of meals, including low-carb. Only downside? Monday to Thursday they only fire up the pizza oven at 6pm.
Nice wine selection and the food I have had off their menu was lovely. We have been there on several occasions and our guests not only enjoyed themselves but have since returned too. Service is good and the venue truly is worth the drive.
Spending Sunday afternoon at Signal Gun Wine farm was a day well spent. Thanks to the warmest welcome from Logan who treated us very well with his knowledgeable input on the selection of wines for available in their tasting section.
Loved the view and the botanical experience. Wrong place if you are big fan of cheese platters or charcuterie otherwise my newly discovered heaven. I have to review my list of best wine farms in Durbanville after visiting this jewel. Family friendly with live music on Sundays. Not a friendly place for disabled people but a wonderful place indeed. We will definitely make a turn again
Signal Gun is an amazing place with great food, great views and great vibes! There are play areas for the kids and a TV for sport.
The whole family can go and enjoy a day there.
Signal Gun is an amazing vineyard with spectacular views and has an ambience of peace & tranquility. It is also home to a top-class restaurant and we were warmly greeted and welcomed by the friendly, pleasant and attentive staff. The pizza I had was delicious and, combined with the outstanding service, great value for money.

One of the best dinners I have had in ages. I had the Caprese Burger(cooked perfectly and we'll balanced between the tangy sweetness of sundry tomatoes and salty Parma ham with some fresh pesto, nothing overpowering on the burgers, the flavours worked really well together) and my wife had the porky pizza (hand made, thin and crispy pizza which you could tell was freshly hand made, pockets of delicious cream cheese and once again well balanced) we also had the Whitley Neil gin special which were 2 for around R68. The service was quick, friendly and very professional with great recommendations. Honestly did not expect this type of meal, but will 100% visit more often. The ambiance is also very nice and with beautiful views. Thanks for the great meal Signal Gun Wines.

Met up with some good friends on Sunday and enjoyed the friendly staff, the awesome food and the perfect setting. The service started off a bit slow but once we were settled everything turned out great. Food was served hot and beautifully presented and very tasty indeed.
What a lovely place. We were at the restaurant for a Mother's Day treat. The food was absolutely delicious 😋 There was a bit of a queue when we arrived but that just shows how well known and amazing the place is. Waiting time on the food and drinks was forgivable because the scenery was so captivating.We will definitely be back for the wine and beer tasting.
Lovely venue! I was there for a birthday celebration. We had a private area to ourselves and were served pizza and sliders (as arranged by our hosts). The food was great and from what other guests were saying the beer was good too 🍺 Outside is a lovely play area for the kids and lots of grass under shady trees. I believe the venue offers wine and beer tastings. Bathroom was clean and neat.
Food was delicious and definitely worth it. They were quite busy when we went and still managed to give us excellent service and quality food. There was one issue where the starter didnt arrive, but they quickly corrected it and brought it through. Worth every star. Food was so delicious, we were halfway through before we even realised we forgot to take pictures of the amazing food.
Great food and service, our waitress Kushy, was very attentive and most pleasant. The menu is great choices and the burgers were great, stunning views and play area. Can highly recommend Signal Gun. Also enjoyed the live music.

Stunning venue with friendly staff.The food not bad but we had to send the ribs back being chewy.The burgers are 5 star and the pizza’s tasty!!Will have to return for wine tasting and beer tasting😎😎
It’s a really nice location. Service was perfect. Wine great. I would say there were a few weird aspects:
1. Wine came with Turkish delight. Not terrible but cheese or chocolate is better.
2. You could make your own cheese board but only if you bought whole blocks of cheese.
3. The beer tasting flight only has two beers in it which isn’t really a selection.
Lovely venue in a lush garden. Friendly waitrons and very helpful. Food is great a reasonable prices. Well worth the visit. Will return.
Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Food was really delicious. Beautiful views. Went out their way to spoil us with cake for our anniversary. Thank you. Will definitely be back.
