Okay, so the cake's not the cheapest - but then it's not the plastic rubbish that you get at the supermarket. Top quality comes at a price. But even better - the service! Amazing. The staff in the shop are super-friendly and so accommodating. It was scorching hot in the shop because the aircons were off due to loadshedding (Eskom minus 5 stars) - they brought me a glass of water (which I didn't ask for), commiserated about the heat, and even held the fridge door open for 5 seconds so I could cool down! I was never a fan - but I am now. Gateway CG rules the world. Well done. Give the staff a bonus and a raise. Thank you.

Swiss carrot cake is a my new favourite. Soft, fruity, spicy and not sickly sweet. Perfect with a decaf cappuccino and chai latte.

It is not so sweat but nice dessert! Worth to try if you are not on diet.

Best cakes. Love the strawberry cheesecake. Especially the mini boxes. So convenient.

Pure excellence!! Ok the cakes, shakes and coffee are mind blowing for sure BUT my greatest joy is the staff... I am a daily customer and have got to know them all very well and wow what an amazing team of people... From the regional manager Kevin, to store managers Wesley and Carmel, also Muhle, Precious, Nkosi and everyone else who's names I forget (old age kicking in) your service, care and passion is true perfection... Consistently Receiving Excellent Customer Service!. What a pleasure to be welcomed with a Smile and have your order Taken from you. Staff are Eager to assist and even during Peak times you find that the Manager's also go the Extra mile to ensure that service excellence is delivered to Customers!.

Their cakes are delicious and decadent. A great variety to select from. I love the small portions as it's the perfect size for indulgence. Their cappuccino is excellent. Service was a bit slow and staff not so friendly ( maybe they had a bad day). This is also a expensive place to have cake and coffee. My favourite is the Cheesecake.

Staff is helpful. The team that was working today the 18th of May was extra efficient. They made sure that they worked the queue as fast as they could. I especially love the lemon water placed at the counter. I also loved that they care about the environment so much that they placed a notice to think about whether it really is necessary to use the coffee cup lid. Needless to say I didn't take it.

Chateau Gateaux Gateway was amazing as always. It is always busy but we where able to get a table. The waiter was quick and efficient. The little cakes and tarts are divine. It is one of my favourite places to purchase cakes and tarts even take aways. The service is always excellent.

Such rich and decadent cakes. Every cake is a different from the other. Flavour wise , excellent. Birthdays and parties is a must order from here

I'm VERY UPSET with this chain. I had been looking forward to trying out their cakes but THEY GOT MY ORDER WRONG! ☹ Guys please open their boxes before you leave.<br/><br/>I bought 3 cakes slices. The other 2 were ABSOLUTELY divine! 😋. Never got to taste their signature cake cause they got my order wrong☹<br/><br/>Still Upset and scarred. The Mozart cake is a winner. Those 7 layers with creamy texture in between is what takes me back everytime. The mini cheesecakes, my niece loves the heart shaped one. They are reasonable too

I had been dying to try Château Gâteaux Patisserie for the longest time but never got around to actually make the plan to visit one so when I visited Gateway and saw the patisserie I knew I had to pop in.<br/>As far as first impressions go I was very underwhelmed: the patisserie is open and offers very little privacy from the streams of people walking in and out of Gateway and the entire cafe set-up just seemed sloppy to me. The staff seemed friendly enough but we didn't really interact with them further than ordering our cake at the counter and paying.<br/>Luckily the beautifully designed, mouth-watering cakes made up for everything. I tried the Rococo Chocolate Gâteaux and Andrea's Baked Cheesecake. I am not a fan of cheesecake but this one blew me away, it was rich and creamy and left me dumb struck as to why I don't eat cheesecake more often. <br/>The cake slices are decently sized and may initially seem on the expensive side but it is worth it in my opinion. I did not finish one whole slice of the two I tried and they were so rich and took them home in the cutest, triangle take-away containers. <br/>Château Gâteaux Patisserie is definitely an experience everyone should have as it's never the wrong time to treat yourself to beautiful, high-quality cake. I will definitely be returning to one of the Johannesburg branches in the future.

Only available in Kwa Zulu Natal at the moment, Château Gateaux has impressed us once more by allowing customers to purchase their favourite cakes or desserts online and having the convenience of collecting it from a Château Gâteaux Patisserie near them. This service will soon be available countrywide as there are more Patisseries in the Gauteng region. Château Gâteaux has been a favourite of ours for many years and although we couldn't order online as the pickup points are at one of their KZN stores and we're situated in Gauteng, we still tested the system and everything was very user friendly. I've previously gotten a take-away from this patisserie. I had gotten a slice of the cookies and cream cake as well as a slice of the red velvet cake. Both were good, rich and not dry. Overall a good treat.

I can't say I'm the biggest chateau gateaux fan. Their stuff is delicious on the eye but the taste doesn't live up to the good looks. I had a cappuccino and a chocolate tart. Both were good but I have no reason to want to go back soon.

This place is my absolute favourite, it never disappoints. They have a delicious cheesecake, amazing staff and cozy interior. A must-visit!

Only one word to describe this place. DECADENT!!!!! A must try if you love all things sweet and rich. Service though is pretty bad😢 However the queues were hectic, so I will give them a four purely based on those decadent cakes.
