Review Neo's Cafe - Durban

Dulan Simons
Great restaurant and food was really authentic. The only thing that put me off was the excessive sauce that I had on my surf and turf. It masked a absolutely brilliantly cooked steak and fresh prawns. I also really enjoyed the fresh chilli sauce

The peri peri chicken was absolutely tasty. The prego rolls to die for. Service was great
Rudi Rabie
Lovely food and vibe. Well done Julio!

The single best Portuguese style restaurant in, dare I say it, South Africa. The atmosphere was alive and buzzing, the service was absolutely spot on, the food was so amazing I might actually HAVE to go back to get some more! Very friendly staff, very competent manager and good beer! 10/10, would reccomend for dinner, or lunch, or both!

When I miss Mozambique this is the place I go. The chicken is cooked to perfection and I actively avoid eating chicken at other restaurants because I know I'll be disappointed in comparison. Their prawns are probably the best in Durbs. And their chips, salivating just thinking about them... Love the vibe also!

This is now known as Julio's Cabana - the best Portuguese food in town. Friendly greeting at the door, great choice of food with combos being very popular. Good value for money.

The place is actually called Julio's Portuguese Restaurant... Excellent food...will definitely want to go there again .. I think that "Neo Cafe" was in this location but is no longer there. I think Google maps needs to update location...

Great food & service, really good peri-peri dishes. Never been disappointed here. A little bit on the pricy side.

Wonderful cheeky Portuguese place to let your hair down and just munch on the best chicken and prawns in Durban North, Pity they closed down.

Authentic Portuguese Cuisine. Lively atmosphere. I will always return to this place. The food is full of flavour. Unlike anything you've tasted before. The service is prompt and real value for money.

This is the kind of place you keep coming back to. The Portuguese menu covers all the bases and the Platter for 2 is a little-known gem that's easy to miss. A combo of chicken peri-peri, prawns and calamari, with your choice of 2 side dishes (chips, salad or veg) is the perfect size for two people. You might not have anything left for a doggy bag, but you'll have more than enough at a really good price.

The service is friendly and the manager is always visible and will make sure you're happy with your service and your meal.

Brampton's Sauvignon blanc, Portuguese bread rolls, butter, Neo's chilli sauce and starter chicken livers Piri Piri. All delicious. Then on to Piri Piri chickens with salad and prawns with swimming rice - also all delicious. Service - top class.

Another favourite of mine on the Mackeurtan road strip. Excellent value for your pocket on all their meat dishes. And their Sangria packs quite a mean punch as well. Even though it's school holidays I hardly waited for more than 5 minutes on a week night. Great vibe.

By far the best Portuguese chicken I've ever had. It's like a cheaper better version of Nandos. The best part is that people hardly know about it so the service is great too. I mean even the sides, and I'm never impressed by the sides at a lot of places. Everything is fresh and delicious.

Yumm ! Best Portuguese in Durban . We went in a crowd of 17 . Ordered calamari and chicken liver starters were outstanding. Their chilli sauce was unbelievable and tasty.
We had platters of prawns and chicken . I have never had such tasty fat juicy queen prawns mmmmm... ever!

Service was excellent. Waitress was on top form. We were all so happy and so satisfied.
Recommen this place to anyone. Will be back for sure.
Love neo café

Landed at Neo's café by chance today. Was suprised how I was instantly taken back to Mozambique. Bottle coke, wooden deck, 2M t-shirts and signs. The food was tasty and not very spicy (so you didn't have to stick your tongue in ice). I had the chorico for starters and 1/2 chicken with chips for mains. The food was flavourful and moist. Perfectly fried chips and great service was an added bonus.

Highly recommended for a tasty chicken dish. My choice would go to the Chicken & Prawn or Chicken & Calamari combo. Try a Portuguese beer to round off the meal.
