This is possibly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Unpretentious, great music, friendly service but most importantly absolutely perfect food. We had all 3 courses and will be back to try everything else. The Beet Tartare, Mussel Bunny Chow, Pork & Fillet could not be faulted. This place possibly beats a majority of the chefs in the Eat Out Top 10 best restaurants in SA. Well done Chef Christine & Team!
We started with dinner, went back for breakfast(they have starters brekkie) and finished with a lunch. Excellent service even during load shedding. Food superb. Definitely not average at all. Dullstroom's best spot. Relishes are amazing. Scotch egg best ever but the absolute must have the smoothest, creamiest most delicious peanut butter ice cream ever.

This was my first trip to Dullstroom and it was recommended that I eat at Art of Food. All I can say is WOW! We came for breakfast and came back again for dinner and both experiences were superb. Also huge respect for your art, creativity and the immense amount of love you put into looking after your customers. We’ll be back soon �

A little gem in the middle of Dullstroom. An absolute must visit! A little bit of Asia in a Ramen bowl with fillet. A little bit of Italy on a board full of cheese and cold meats. And to top it off blueberry and bacon crumpets. Nothing else to say!
The atmosphere was stunning and the food even better! We had a lovely three course meal together with wine chosen from their 3D winelist. Our only critique would be that the red wine was a little warm for our taste, however our waiter was more than willing to provide an ice bucket in order for the wine to chill to room temperature.

The Art if food has done it again! I’ve only ever had lunch here before but dinner is a whole new experience that we loved! The food is beautiful and just so easy to eat. The wine selection is great as well. Hospitality 10/10 from every person that helped us. I cannot wait to return and sample whatever they have !
I absolutely adored everything about this place. The staff is friendly, the decor is quaint and warming and the food was fantastic. Everything was a winner- the menu is delightful creative, such care was taken in the not only the cooking but the presenting of the food. The portions were VERY generous and I was flabbergasted at how pocket friendly our bill was. Definitely worth a visit!
What a surprise!! Coming to Dullstroom you would not expect a restaurant that could give any of the top restaurants in SA a run for their money, but that is exactly what you get in The Art of Food.
From the nice, warm, romantic atmosphere to the amazing service...not even mentioning the food.
Their menu is simple in that there is no menu. The waiter flawlessly tells you about their specials in intricate detail. The food is expertly prepared and the flavours are interesting, and perfectly balanced.

A group of 7 of us were fortunate enough to get a booking this last weekend. We did book 2 weeks in advance, which I would recommend.
For a start, I had read recent reviews and although all comments about the food were excellent I did read some complaints about their children policy. When I booked I was told that children under 8 are not welcome. Always contentious, but I agree with the restaurant on this occasion. This is not a family restaurant. There is no kiddies menu or iPhone charging stations at the table. There are others in Dullstroom that are, but they are not fine dining restaurants. We did take our children but they are teenagers and were welcome.
So onto the food. There is no menu. Guests are tempted with a choice of a few starters, mains and desserts that change on a regular basis. Several of us chose the ravioli starter, others opting for the soup. The ravioli was exceptional, as good as I have had anywhere in the world. For my main, I went for the pork belly. Generous, succulent, and of course under delicious crackling. Others dishes ordered included Trout 4 ways, and souse-vide fillet. I tried both and they again were world class. Michelin quality. If we had Michelin awards in South Africa, I have no doubt most of them would end up in the western cape but 1 may end up here. Really, it is that good.
Ambiance is relaxed, spacious, but cozy, helped by a roaring fire and gigantic tables (no feeling like you are eating in a plane). They could well seat twice as many patrons, but have clearly decided that it is not about maximizing profits, but rather providing carefully considered dishes cooked by the co-owner head chef.
Price is in-line with more reputable franchise restaurants, making value here exceptional. A meal of this quality would cost 2-3 as much on a trendy Cape Wine Farm or “cheffy” Johannesburg restaurant. Service was exemplary through out the evening.
Folks it really is this good. The Art of food does not just deserve it’s No 1 rating for Dullstroom, but should be a top contender in the whole of South Africa.
Dave and Christine once again delivered pure excellence last night. The love, care, thought and preparation put into every meal on the menu cannot be faulted plus service excellence. Thanks to both of you for everything you do to make fine dining such a treat in South Africa! What a treat!
One of my favorite places in Dulstroom! Friendly service, good but not over elaborate wine selection and fresh and delicious food! A lunch must!
Interesting Resturant that catered to our very specific dietary needs. A vegan/ vegetarian meal was created for our large group with a large variety. Coconut cream lentils, mixed beans in tomato and boards with fresh breads with a variety of pestos’, dips and cheeses where the few dishes that graced the table. Desserts were on point- date pudding, chocolate brownie (would’ve liked more brownie on the plate though) and of course a peach sorbet(vegan).

Hands down the best restaurant on dullstroom. We've eaten at art of food several times and each time as impressed as the previous. This is the first time I've paused to take some photos for a review; normally it just looks to good when it arrives at the table that I jump right in.

Service was excellent and the food divine. The owner did not think our meal was big enough and even brought us an extra portion. They really look out for the customers and make you feel at home. Definitely value for money.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience, and our expectations were exceeded in every manner possible.
We loved the the fact that there were no menus, and that all of the menu items were carefully presented verbally by owner Dave French, showing that he understands his menu and what they offer.
Every item we had was fantastic, and the highlight was the main; aged fillet cooked using the sous vide method. Dessert and starters were also fantastic, and every aspect of our meal was amazing.

This place is really a culinary treat & foodies will love it! I’ve only ever heard good things & was fortunate enough to enjoy a wonderful breakfast there.
I’ve heard the menu is always different (they don’t have standard set menu, it seems to be something different every day). To start I had the crumpets with pancetta & a berry sauce - amazing!! For a main I had the scotch eggs & pancetta (first time having scotch eggs) & this was just perfect! My friend the trio of eggs (with salmon, pancetta & spinach) & she said it was superb.
The portions are quite small so I would recommend ordering two things if you are hungry. If you are looking for a hearty, traditional breakfast then this is not the place. My husband is not a foodie & prefers the usual bacon, sausage, eggs, toast & baked beans. The chef was kind enough to whip him something up that was not on the menu & close to a traditional breakfast - that’s good service for you!!

Where do I begin? Okay, so at Zomato it is. While searching for places to go out for lunch in the Dullstroom area, the name immediately stood out. Once we arrived things got interesting very quickly. We learned that the restaurant had no set menu. In fact, one could say the menu depended on the day (own emphasis). The waiter, a very jovial and chatty fellow, delivered the menu to us verbally which, for lunch, consisted of 5 different cuisines. I chose the fresh deboned trout fillets on beetroot puree with tempura veg + granadilla seeds, whilst my partner chose the Asian inspired beef + noodle bowl ("to die for" in his own words). The first of the triple threat of the day (lunch, dessert and meeting the chef) rests on the dishes itself, both of which were a sizeable portion, exquisitely laid out and a collection of flavours that all come together. Now onto the dessert; we initially intended on sharing one but after hearing the first two (of three options) we were sold on trying both. I got the bread and butter pudding (sounds simple but don't be fooled) and my partner got the chocolate mousse ice cream with coffee jelly and a host of other additions we just couldn't describe. Needless to say both our plates were cleaned up in an instant. Thereafter, we insisted on meeting the maker of these fine dishes - the head chef, that is. The waiter accompanied us after settling the bill and personally introduced us. What was meant to be a simple meet-and-greet turned into an inspiring storytelling venture into how her dream all came to be. Not only did the meal whet our appetites, but it ensured that we'd definitely be back again - perhaps for dinner this time and sooner rather than later.

When we arrived we were told they were fully booked, but accommodated us anyway! Staff were very personal, and lovely to deal with. A very family-oriented restaurant.
A great selection of wine on offer.
The restaurant decor was artsy and quirky. The ambiance was very warm and relaxed.
And the food..... WOW! Absolutely incredible! The menu is always freshly prepared. We enjoyed the trout soufflé for starters, which was delicious! We could have eaten 2 plates!
Mains we had the beef fillet and the pork 3 ways- both absolutely delicious. There’s no doubt why the pork is their house speciality, it’s a thousand perfect flavours on a plate.
For dessert, we had the 2 options available. First, the frozen chocolate mousse with vanilla pana cotta, coffee jelly and apricot sauce- delicious flavours, I would have just liked a little less of the mousse and more pana cotta. Second, the peanut butter ice cream with homemade cone, caramel popcorn and blueberry sauce, amazing flavours bar the blueberry- personal preference.
Overall, a very enjoyable meal! Will definitely visit again.

Great ambiance, and interesting menu. The service is friendly, but could be more attentive. I had the beetroot tart with chili and goats cheese for a starter. It was good but needed seasoning. Husband had the mushroom risotto, which was yummy. For mains hubs had the pork, done 3 ways. It was fantastic. I had the fillet which was average. Good value for money. Lovely place, we will visit again.

Wow firstly I don't know where to begin? Firstly upon arrival the restaurant looks empty (downstairs) untill the friendly waiter takes you upstairs then ever thing changes , warm atmosphere and cosi and interesting decor and painting makes you feel like you in a very upmarket restaraunt. There was no menu but trust me just listen to the waiter and you won't be disappointed. The menu is a 3 course and is out of this world with flavour and taste.
The only pitty is that you can't just move into the restaurant and let them feed you every day.....
Best food I've eaten thus far. The lunch menu is just as amazing with no loss in flavour or taste. During lunch time you can choose off the menu.

So very excited to have experienced a fine dining equivalent in Dullstroom! If you're looking for a foodie experience you have to try the Art of Food.
They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We tried dinner and were really impressed! The dinner menu is verbal and there's an option for everywhere! Starters, Main and Dessert! Each dish is well thought out and got lovely detail. The starters are quaint and the mains large! We had the rabbit ravioli, which was unbelievable, and the trout and avo mousse, also good, as starters.
For mains the trio of pork and the springbok Wellington were also absolutely delicious. They had Asian short ribs, a deconstructed butter chicken and trout as other options. Finally for dessert the chocolate coffee combo and applie pie dishes were fantastic too!
The waiter is very knowledgeable about the food and gives great service. They have many different options for wines to choose from and you just pick your wine out of the wine on display! Lovely ambience too and I will definitely be back.
Spectacular meal and excellent service - we'll certainly visit again! Their plan to change the world "a plate at a time" is memorable. A youngster sitting with his parents and siblings was encouraged to put his phone away before his food came, which was also a positive move.
Excellent music and atmosphere. Wonderful waiters. Food variety for lunch had only 5 options, but was truly delicious and interesting. I had the trout fillet on beetroot purée with granadilla, and my husband had the Asian beef noodle bowl. Probably one of, if not the best place in Dullstroom for an excellent meal, atmosphere and service.
Ambience: Very romantic and intimate ambience. The music creates a perfect relaxing vibe and is not too loud and too soft.
Food: Amazing!! Everthing that we ate was fresh and delicious! Very interesting combinations which makes it feel like your eating fine dining cuisine!
Service: Very good. Attentive but not annoying. The owner was also very friendly and ensured that we were satisfied throughout our evening.

What an exceptional dinner- well beyond what we expected!! In fact have to add that it was as good if not better than the dinner we had at the Gordon Ramsay Restaurant in New York. The chicken roulade was scrumptious as was the fillet dish. Ended with deconstructed peanut butter ice cream which was finger licking good. Well worth the visit and will definitely be back.

The service was impeccable. Right from the moment we walked in. Dave is in touch with the patrons that makes you feel at home. Christine, his wife and head chef, made sure everything coming from the kitchen is perfect. Combining texture and taste on a level rarely found.
The wine list is on display against the wall. There's really something for everyone. Good quality at reasonable prices.
The food was simply amazing. They have no problem to serve vegetarian and even vegan dishes. The beetroot tartlet was quite different, but very tasty. The soup was served with a mini loaf of homemade bread. We also had the vegetarian korma with deepfried cauliflower and vegan platter with tempura style veggies amongst others . The pictures says it all. Portion sizes are good. You will not leave here still hungry 😁.

As this place is really popular in Dullstroom, but they don't take lunch reservations, only for dinner! So today we decided to give it a try with just showing up and hoping we can get a table !

They don't really cater for little ones, with owner's recommendations, we ordered Chicken Korma for the kids, pork 3 ways and springboks Wellington for us.
The food was delicious! My 9yrs old ate all the Chicken Korma, he is usually the picky eater, but this afternoon he polished his plates, tried all the different flavors on his plate ! As with rest of the dishes, it was empty before you know it !!!
I never expected a fine dining type of place in Dullstroom! Well done, I will definitely return when I visit Dullstroom again !
Great mix of ambience, service and food. Relaxing atmosphere and truly interesting tasty food. Didn't expect a gem like this in a rural setting. Fantastic night was had.
Just had lunch and it was the perfect break in the day. I recommend the peanut butter ice cream. Presentation and flavour is just amazing 😉. Five star dessert if there ever was one.
I sadly didn't get a chance to sit down at this charming restaurant (The decor inside is really lovely and welcoming) But we came in asking for takeaways for lunch and the owner was super accommodating. The only item they allow for a lunch takeaway is their baguette which we were more than happy with. My friend wanted one without pastrami and I wanted ALL of the pastrami so the owner kindly offered to make us one baguette- half with meat and half without.
And it was truly one of the most delicious baguettes I've ever had! The bread was clearly freshly baked and the fillings were so fresh and tasty. Creamy emmentahler cheese, tangy pickles, generous amounts of salty pastrami for me, thick butter and lashings of mustard. Perfection.
My husband and I had the most delicious lunch at The Art of Food. I had the Prawn Korma and my husband had the chicken pie and both plates of food exceeded our expectations.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Cozy and warm with a fire blazing. The wine was delicious and also reasonably priced.

Generally the food is great the atmosphere is wonderful and the service is good. If I have to nit pick for me the Biltong starter had to much balsamic but my partner loved it. The trout roulade was fantastic. Mains: my Springbok Wellington was a little bland and the hit of mint was to strong for my taste. The pork trio was fantastic. All together a great experience.

Don't expect the ordinary!
The Art of Food is located on the main road in the middle of the Dullstroom, decorated like a cozy, yet modern art gallery ready to chase away the cold and serve you some scrumptious food. By the by it is also plated to perfection.
The food was... Art. Not only did each plate look magnificent, it tasted amazing. The food, not the plate itself. A dish had all the elements it needed to be yummy, without bombarding you with lettuce or micro greens to seem fancy. These dishes were fancy, don't you worry about that. From Phyllo wrapped pastry omelettes to mascarpone stuffed french toast rolls covered with a passionfruit sauce. Everything was superb.
Service was on point from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by the plate master who showed us to our seats and took our orders. Simple, quick and oh so friendly.
The place had a warm welcoming feeling to it. It made you feel like home. With a lovely fireplace and all the art on the walls.
Perfect little spot for breakfast or lunch, or both if you ask us.

What an awesome little gem in the heart of Dullstroom. It's a gourmet food spot with normal pricing ! Wish I was able to try their dinner menu but was only there for lunch which was still amazing. Must try the Asian beef bowl ( lunch menu ), large and delicious !
Dave was so passionate and helpful. Blonde waitress did not however make us feel welcome, but luckily Dave made up for it.
Exvellent service, excellent food and great people running the restaurant. The pork is to die for, I could have licked the plate. My muscle startet was just as yummy and the home made bread was soft and crunchy. I had the Brownie for desert with a gwavadilla whicj was incredible. But I suggest the peanut butter ice cream which looked and tasted phenomenally according to my fmaily (I am allergic to peanuts). You must stop by when in Dullstroom.
The Art of Food has rightly earned their top spot on TripAdvisor and Zomato. Their service and hospitality makes you feel welcome and so comfortable. They accommodated to our needs and were flexible in adjusting their breakfast menu to fit our diet specifications. Their food is of the best quality and full of flavor. The food presentation adds the wow factor to the place and just leaves you wanting to come back for more. We came to The Art of Food on our first night for dinner... It just set the Bar for what we expected from every other food place in Dullstroom...
I had the mussel pot that is served in a hollow out loaf of home made bread... Om Nom Nom... this was just my starter...
The Quail main, well WOW. It has an egg ravioli that was just melt in your mouth, a scotched quail egg that was cooked to perfection, deboned quail leg and a whole mostly deboned quail...
By now I had had an elegant sufficiency but I'm never going to say no to fallen peanut butter ice cream...
This ice cream is LIFE CHANGING... I can still not get over it...
The service was also incredible, we got offered a free whiskey on the house and the attention to detail was on point... Dinner exceeded expectations

I had the phyllo omelet with mince and cranberry and mint sauce. I asked if I could please buy some ice cream if they had... They did not have a liter and instead gave me what they did have which was half a bucket on the house... Once again exceeding expectations...

Being settled in an lovely old mansion with its wooden floors, keeping to a touch of today creates the perfect intimate fine dinning experience. The food is nothing short of spectacular, keeping you guessing what more you can gain with every bite;) I do recommend that you order at least a main with a starter/dessert, it will not disappoint.
With friendly service and classic rock jamming in the background, a perfect tasting adventure awaits you.

Absolutely amazing!!! So many delicious courses to choose from so I opted for 3 starters - bruschetta with onion jam, chorizo and brie (no pic as we were ravenous and gobbled it down - it was sooo good), tortellini filled with trout and red pepper, creamy mussels in homemade bread. All three were delicious!!! And served beautifully. My partner had the rolled lamb, which was cooked beautifully and presented beautifully too. For dessert we had the brownie which came with decadent chocolate mousse and preserved orange peel. Such a great combination.
The food really did look like art on a plate, and such interesting flavour combinations that worked well together. Did not expect such a high fine dining in Dullstroom of all places. Couldn't fault anything. Better food than I have had at any Joburg restaurant in a long while.
Service was also excellent. Attentive and with a sense of humour. Only downside is the menus aren't printed, so you need to listen and remember when the waiter explains the dishes. And you also don't know what it will cost.
However, the starters and dessert were very reasonably priced. The main was R210 but worth it and a generous portion.
Will definitely go again - pity it's so far from Joburg.

Dullstroom's Epicurean Delight! Truly living up to its name, from creativity to presentation to textures to tastes - every dish is a work of art! It may be a bit of a gamble for fussy eaters (myself included) as there is no menu but rather a choice of 3/4 starters, mains & desserts; that are all eloquently described down to the last froth & jus; but the staff are very accommodating in creating a "personalized masterpiece" with bits & pieces of deliciousness from other dishes. This enjoyed in the cosy stable-like wooden-beamed, brick-walled & fireplace-warmed interior makes for a truly memorable meal!
My friend and I were in Dullstroom this weekend looking for a cosy restaurant to enjoy a simple Gin & Tonic and some food. We had popped into The Art of Food earlier in the morning when we were walking the strip and decided to return as it seemed the most inviting. We sat down by the fire to thaw out a bit, ordered our G&T's as well as the Trio of Florentine to share (a very late brunch). With friendly staff, a warm environment, and an exquisite plate of food we chatted away and were extremely satisfied with our experience. The music could have been turned up a bit to dim the sound of the fridge behind me keeping the cheese and cold meats fresh, but I will definitely be returning to The Art of Food for dinner when I am next in town!! Highly recommended!!
What an incredible little restaurant! The food was fantastic, we had roast bowl that was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was great and they went out of their way to accommodate us with all our food intolerances! I highly recommend The Art of food for any foodie!

The restaurant boasts an intimate and relaxing ambience. The seating area outside in the quaint garden boasted a romantic ambience.
The menu on a black board boasted an interesting selection of dishes and was reasonably priced in comparison to the exceptional quality of our meals.
After much consideration I decided on the chicken liver bunny chow with side salad. The dish consisted of a homemade mini loaf of bread with chicken livers inside. The chicken livers were covered in a gently spiced sauce and the combination of flavours was a match made in heaven! It was also beautifully presented and the presentation was a real work of art.
My husband opted for the chicken and mustard pie with black cherry sauce and deep fried spinach. The crunchiness of the spinach gave the dish a surprising and wonderful twist. He thoroughly enjoyed every scrumptious bite.
The portion sizes were more than adequate to satisfy us. I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc wine which was excellent and presented in a beautiful wine glass.
It was clear to us that the food at Art of Food is made using fresh ingredients. The passion and love and care of the chef at work surfaced in each glorious bite we had.
We would like to thank for memorable lunch. We will certainly be back on our next visit to Dullstroom.

Quaint little spot in Dullstrom..when they say the art of food they aren't kidding. Presentation is creative, colourful. We had the scotch eggs which were a nice change to the usual breakfasts on offer at most restaurants.
Unassuming restaurant in the centre of dullstroom. Breakfast and lunches there are choices from the specials board-limited menu but a nice variety and all delicious. Evenings is more den dining and the food is beautifully presented and matches up in taste! Staff are friendly and welcoming
The most incredible Scotch Egg I've ever had - soft and creamy in the center with a crispy delicious outer and complimented with a cheesy disc cracker. Great coffee too.
Probably one of the better or best restaurants in dullstroom. Everyone's meals were great and deserts were as decadent as they come.

Fantastic food, great service and a great experience! If you are in the area it is without doubt the best place to eat... We had the pasta and the springbok carpaccio and both we're incredible! Highly recommend!

Dullstroom is a foodie destination. The main street is lined with quiant restaurants and shops. The Art of Food in the Gables Centre is a shining star among these allready high quality foodie havens.
Christine, the chef/owner is dedicated to serve fresh, seasonal and imaginative fare.

The champion at our table was the Scotch Egg breakfast - a soft egg encased in pork mince - utterly delicious.
I would love to have either lunch or dinner or both there next time I'm in Dullstroom.

One of our new favorites in Dullstroom. We have never had a bad meal here, their chicken pie is always a winner. All the food arrived to our fairly large table quite quickly. Only drawback is that when we asked for a dessert menu we were told that they just hadn't had time to prepare any that day - not sure that this would fly anywhere other than a small town??
We stopped in here for a little snack while on a walk around town. We had the meze platter to share, it was fantastic! There was a good selection of meats and cheese.
I would like to come back to try one of their dinners as I believe they are really good.
My girlfriend and I decided to celebrate our first night in dullstroom by eating dinner at the Art of Food last night. What a beautiful little restaurant. Everything about the place was amazing from the decor to the service and more especially to the food. We both decided to have the homemade ravioli with pancetta, Parmesan and mushroom. So simple but just so incredibly delicious. We then moved on to mains where I had the oxtail dish and my girlfriend had the trio of pork dish. Both were fantastic. Really great value for money as both portions were more than we could eat. Had we had dessert, I'm sure they would have had to roll us out. What a great way to start our long weekend.

Service was great, as was the food and quality. Menu was somewhat limited, however it also makes sense to do less and do it all well, instead of more variety and not being consistent. The waiter was very helpful and accommodating with requests on substitutes in my meal, which is always greatly appreciated.

What a lovely establishment, be sure to look for it as it is easy to miss. Exceptionally professional staff that create an atmosphere of a 5 star restaurant. We regrettably only ate a starter of their home made granola bars served with home made sorbet. I would have loved to taste more of their menu as everything sounded appetising. Exquisite presentation. Unique. Warm. An experience. Everything I read about this restaurant and the food was so right. Had dinner with my mom and was not dissappointed.
Fine dining in Dullstroom but definitely on Joburgs standards! We love this place :) there are not too many tables and the service is fantastic. They have a 3 course meal and about 3 or 4 options per course. The chef comes and has a lovely chat with everyone at the end of the evening. Everybody enjoys their food here and it's very reasonably priced for what you get. A definite must go if you are in Dullstroom!

What an absolute delight! This is such a lovely quaint place on the main road offering gourmet food. I went there twice, during my stay in dullstroom. The first time around I had the smoked trout and poached eggs and it was too sublime to even try put into words. The second time I had the frittata, it normally comes with chorizo but it being holidays and suppliers being closed they had to substitute this for pancetta, and I would drive to dullstroom just to try it with the chorizo. I love this place! And the service is great. The chef is also very hands on! Oh they stock this amazing fruits juice with basil seeds, Divine!

Oh my goodness! This small unassuming building with big smiles at the door, absolutely blew me away! From the level of service to the decor, everything was sublime! Obviously the crux of the matter... The food! Elegant contemporary cuisine, a well thought out menu with a South African twist. All freshly prepared on the day! Fine dining at its best. We had the chicken pie with crispy spinach and cherry sauce. To say that your taste buds will have their own sophisticated party while you are trying to compose yourself as an adult at a public restaurant is an understatement. Just do yourself a favour and go order whatever you like from their carefully selected menu- I doubt anything they make is less than perfect. They are reasonably priced, play beautiful music, service is warm and personal. The interior design makes you feel like you just jumped on a plane and found yourself in Italy. Thank you for your existence!
What a wonderful food experience! The food was brilliant, especially the chocolate desert. The plating of the food was perfectly done, very carefully planned and executed. The warm and cozy atmosphere and good hosting added to the whole experience. I would recommend Art of Food to everyone passing through Dullstroom. What a gem!

This is one of the best breakfasts I have ever had! My boyfriend and I ordered 3 breakfasts to share because we couldn't decide which to have- they all looked that good. The scotch egg was divine. My only regret is that we weren't in town long enough to stay for their dinner. The prices are also extremely reasonable for this level of dining. Loved it!
An absolute gem! The Scotch Egg is incredibly tasty and is definitely worth it. We also bought cheese from the deli and the owners knowledge was both helpful and insightful. Prices are not out of context and we found it pretty cheap for the quality served. Definitely the best breakfast in Dullies. No doubt we'll be back

This was not my choice, when visiting a small town, I like to try the simple restaurants, but anyways, the food was nice. Most of the table ordered the pasta dish with smoked trout, capers and herbs, it was nice, but bland. The other couple had the Chicken Pie thingy and they were ranting on and on about how great it is. Their prices are a little steep, but I guess you get what you pay for. We accidentally stumbled onto this place and met Christine around lunchtime saying that we would like to come back for dinner. We had no idea we were in for such a treat. The food was incredible and lingered for days after. We will definitely be going back to Dullstroom just experience the food from Art of Food. Thanks again for a very memorable evening! This place is highly recommended. Couple of tips...go hungry and have all 3 courses; choose a wine from their curated collection and definitely have a chat with Christine and co.

I can only recommend everything as we tried basically all of it and it was all excellent.

Staff are very friendly, warm and helpful. The menu is on the wall, which is certainly different from most places.
The food was absolutely fresh and equally great, you could taste everything that had been in the dish. The presentation on top of it was class!
The size of tables are probably the best I’ve been to in a long time, it can definitely accommodate very comfortably for a family of 4 people at a single table, which is usually hard to find.

Don't expect the ordinary!
The Art of Food is located on the main road in the middle of the Dullstroom, decorated like a cozy, yet modern art gallery ready to chase away the cold and serve you some scrumptious food. By the by it is also plated to perfection.
The food was... Art. Not only did each plate look magnificent, it tasted amazing. The food, not the plate itself. A dish had all the elements it needed to be yummy, without bombarding you with lettuce or micro greens to seem fancy. These dishes were fancy, don't you worry about that. From Phyllo wrapped pastry omelettes to mascarpone stuffed french toast rolls covered with a passionfruit sauce. Everything was superb.
Service was on point from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by the plate master who showed us to our seats and took our orders. Simple, quick and oh so friendly.
The place had a warm welcoming feeling to it. It made you feel like home. With a lovely fireplace and all the art on the walls.
Perfect little spot for breakfast or lunch, or both if you ask us.

This was a location like nothing I ever experienced. Booked the Friday night for my wife and I. Changed the booking same day to make it earlier, no problem. Turned up to dinner to see approx 8 to 10 tables upstairs. Shown to our seat by the freshest most police waiter ever and asked if we wanted drinks. Noticing there was no wine menu we were shown to the wine rack and helped to choose.
Choosing our food was a delight as there was no trailing through a menu as normal. What turned out to be the owner and the chefs husband took us through the 2 starters, 4 mains and dessert on offer tonight. TONIGHT being the word as the menu changes as often as daily according to the availability of the freshest ingredients available.
Broccoli and gorgonzola soup with stuffed bread and tortellini stuffed with Parma ham, garlic and olive oil was the starter. Well didn't want it to end.
Mains was described as a medley of beef with sous vis fillet beside a hand crafted steak pie , marobone topped with beef tartar. God I was sold on the second line. My wife chose the trout after being warned that it will ruin any other trout dish she thinks she likes or will ever look at. Trout fillets with beetroot . Understatement of the year, both dishes were superb and the knowledge passion and love for the food and the customers all 4 waiters showed was unseen anywhere.
Not to put too fone a point t the food experience and service was so good we returned for Sunday lunch and tried to work our way through the menu, ordering 4 dishes and a starter before it beat us. Needless to say cant wait to return and this will be the first place we est

We ate very well! Two of us are vegan and the restaurant told us they can always adapt the ingredients. They made a great vegan curry with coconut milk and a delectable baguette! If u call them in advance they make everything vegan. The cooks were sent to a vegan workshop...
