Review Marmalade Cat - Darling

I loved this little shop. The staff is amazing and served us a wonderful breakfast. The shop is decorated with the most interesting stuff. The portions are large and tasty. I will definitely visit them again.

Found this little Gem in Darling. The food is very nice. Lovely frozen meals on sale to make your stay in Darling a little easier. Lovely cheese and wine selection. Staff is friendly and professional.

A great little place with charm and friendly service. Wonderful food for the whole family. Great gift shop along the walls too!

The only place open when we arrived. What a lovely and very interesting coffee shop. Worth the time. Biggest scone ever.

I can HIGHLY recommend the Darling platter. A meal made with pride - it's very generous and you are presented with THE freshest food. A really welcome surprise.

I would do a detour of an hour to go back. Genuine, lovely and thoughtful service by the servers. We changed our choices etc a d everything was spot on. Fantastic coffee and a great brunch. Probably my best meal all round this year!

A wonderful venue in the heart of Darling. The food was incredible, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

What a lovely shop. As you enter there are large plant boxes with basil, fennel anther herbs growing in them. The restaurant itself is clean and very nicely decorated. Wide range of drinks available at very reasonable prices. Burgers are a must. Take aways available as well. Most enjoyable, highly recommended and will return.

Amazing pizzas on Friday evening and a great breakfast this morning.

Friendly staff (and friendly cat), great atmosphere, and lovely scones! The cappuccinos were very large but a bit watery. The hot chocolate was absolutely delicious though, very cute, quaint little cafe, and we loved he stop on the way back to CT.

Quaint little gem of a restaurant. Food delicious and staff so friendly and helpful. We shared a tramezzini (was told they were big but in fact not actually but tasted good) My friend had the snoek fish cakes which she said were delicious. They also have take away meals-real South African food.

This place never disappoints. I always try pass by here for a meal when I am in the location. Amazing and friendly staff, fresh and well prepared food. Happy vegetarian:-)

Visited some family in Darling and was told if you want a great freshly prepared breakfast, it's the place to be. As an old Melville resident the owner was friendly and the shop was nothing short of interesting and out of the ordinary! The salmon pancakes were amazingly fresh and the staff all came to greet us! Certainly will be popping in again on our next visit!

We decided to go to the Marmalade Cat for lunch as it came highly recommend on TripAdvisor.  A charming shop with quirky kitchen and general household gadgets. An interesting menu with a few traditional South African options. I opted for a lighter option, the roasted veg tramezzini.  I just wanted to check some of the ingredients used (not a fan of aubergine),  so Lucky, the chef,  came out of the kitchen to assist.  He was so pleasant and very accommodating and served a very tasty meal! A real pity that the waitress who served us were borderline disinterested, otherwise the rating would have been a bit higher!  In general lovely lunch spot though :) 

We stopped by this little place driving from the west coast to Cape Town. Quirky and cute with a variety of kitchy cool merchandise on display. The lady who took our booking was very friendly but the rest of the staff were less than adequate. I was looking at the cost of one of the items and the price tag was facing behind the counter. I didn't want to just walk into a staff only area so I asked a waiter whether he knew the price. He looked at me as though I was mad and said " look at the price yourself" . We also waited for about 10 minutes before receiving a menu and being offered a drink. The food was good, my husband had the chicken pie which was excellent. I had the snoek fish cakes which were a little bland. The lemon mirangue was delicious!

Good, friendly service, makes use of top grade ingredients and have never been disappointed in all the times I have visited the "Cat". Had an omelette this morning, best ever
