Review Cattle Baron (constantia) - Constantia

Absolutely enjoyed my time here. It was a week day so the atmosphere was very calm. The staff welcomed us with such warm smiles. The restaurant is very clean and cousy. Compliments to the chef because oh my soul the food was so delicious and well prepared and presented. Although it is in a fairly busy old village, once inside you forget about it. Thank you for the wonderful service 👌🏽
Amy Akers
Fantastic food and service. They have all of my steakhouse favorites in one place!

Came here for a work dinner. The staff were very helpful and our waiter was professional. We ordered a lot of food and even with the big order our food came out quite fast. The food itself was cooked to perfection. Good atmosphere too.
Andrew Langridge
This was a great experience. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, the food was excellent and the service, superb. They have a secret to attracting customers to themselves, rather than to the restaurant down the way, but this secret may never be shared... A lovely, comfortable atmosphere on upholstered seats afforded us a much deserved rest after our Table mountain hike. We'll definitely be returning to Cattle Baron, Constantia, in the near future. Thanks to the manager and staff!

Our party had specific needs as we had a member with special needs. From the booking to the service they could not be more accommodating. Despite a very full restaurant the food came very quickly. Quality, as always, was superb. I cannot praise this place enough. Thank you so much for giving us such a pleasant evening.
Helen Higson
We always enjoy their sirloin steak, alway cooked to perfection. The last time we were there it was load shedding so the vegetables were not as hot as I would have liked. It's great because they don't charge corkage

The food here is always a winner. I usually order for take out but today decided to dine in. The service was a little slow to start but picked up quite well and our server was friendly. The wine selection is also excellent. I always opt for any kind of steak but the beef ribs are great, too. I had the beef escargot and it was perfection. My friend tried the pork belly and she enjoyed it but said the skin was a bit too crispy for her liking. Portion sizes are large so great for a hearty meal on a cold day.
Benjamin Benjamin
VERY nice food, also good for kids and adults as some stuff is as simple as a burger or as fancy as escargot. Cattle baron never disappoints for a good meal and is my personal go to if I have no plans for food personally a 5/5

If you want a great steak, amazing service in a wonderful setting - then this is a must visit The staff are unbelievably friendly and efficient. The food was amazing - nothing beats a good steak No bourbon on the menu but a wide range of whisky land other offerings to fill the gap
Arline Mampies
What a wonderful experience celebrating my son's 21st Birthday, they went the extra mile making sure everything was beautiful! Joe our waiter was such an amazing person The food was delish Thank you so very much
Geoff OConnell
Very good, really enjoyed this outing. Buffalo wings were very good, the best I have had for a while. Many steak options to pick from, catering for every taste. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Stephen Thompson
Just make sure you ask fir a hot plate, otherwise hot food comes out on a cold plate! Otherwise, it's a great place to eat.

Unlike many Franchise holders, Cattle Baron Constantia is definitely in tune with its surroundings. The restaurant is warm and inviting with a super little bar making it stand out above the rest. It’s a franchise steakhouse so one cannot expect 5 star food but what they serve is good and the steaks are excellent and very well priced. Their sauces sadly, are somewhat disappointing but the fact that they don’t charge corkage is added value. The service too was excellent with hands on management which helps to make a difference.

The best Cattle Baron in the country. Beautiful restaurant with the right mix of elegance and contemporary, the food is Delicious and their service. Impeccable and attentive service. Try their pork short ribs - the meat falls off the bone or their generous portion of tender and juicy lamb loin chops. Their steaks are delicious too. On a Friday night the atmosphere is hard to beat but don't forget to book a table beforehand because it is likely to be fully booked!

THANK YOU Cattle Baron staff. I recently had the pleasure of entertaining 5 friends at Cattle Baron Constantia. All of us with different palates and ALL of us truly delighted with our meal choices. I had arranged & pre ordered the Starter Platter with the fabulous & approachable Front of House, Denver - from there the evening flowed. Denver and the excellent service of our waitron Desire ensured smooth transition between courses, prompt in clearing & ever ready to serve. THANK YOU
Jackie Tromp
Best outlet of this franchise by far!

Definitely worth a visit!

Absolutely sublime.

Hubby is addicted to the Chateaubriand.

Vegetarian friendly, excellent service.

Well done, or should I say medium rare.

Recommend this outlet, they will not dissapoint.
Really disappointing! Went there to celebrate a special birthday and what a disappointment. Did not have a good experience. The food was tasteless and dry. Béarnaise sauce was cold and hard. Ordered a steak which the main ingredient was missing and was told after it arrived that they forgot it was out of stock. Definitely won’t be going back!

The Cattle Baron is consistently great! I’ve been many times and can’t fault it. Their fillet is phenomenal and their chocolate mousse is the best I’ve ever had. The restaurant is homely and welcoming, a great place.
Chantal Muller
I had the ribs at cattle baron today. It came with the usual delicious butternut and spinach and chips. I also ordered onion rings. The food was pretty good. The ribs could have more stickiness to it, but it was enjoyable.
I went for a sit down meal this time. Disappointed that they didn't have cheesecake or creme Brule. The food was great. Loved the onion rings.
Dayne Williams
Very accommodating, they set up a table for us outside despite being full. I had ribs which are awesome and plentiful. My fiance had steak which I tasted and had serious fomo over. Reliable, consistent, delicious food with good service.
Janine Taitz
This is a strange one to describe because the waitress and manager were friendly, however they just did not attend to us without us having to get up and ask them to do so. The restaurant was not busy and we could hear the table behind us saying the exact same thing. I ordered the Seared Sirloin, Roquefort and Fig salad which was quite enjoyable except that the figs were not fresh, they were very sweet preserved figs. I believe that this should be made clear when one orders this dish. My hubby had a burger, chips, vegetables and a side of onion rings, all of which he thoroughly enjoyed. Really a disappointing lack of service with no urgency and awareness to keep the customer happy.
Lawrence Wilson
It kills me to rate this restaurant a 2, because the food is very good, but the awful service and the apathetic manager really ruined the night. We will not be back in a hurry.

We went to Cattle Baron 3 years ago in Hermanus, wonderful! So since we having a holiday here again in Cape Town I can not wait to eat there again. We choose the closer one, however it is never the same. They service BUFFET in the restaurant. How come??? A steak house service buffet?? Well I guess for survive, fine waited, waited and waited for the steak, took forever to prepare the food, chef might busy with refilling the buffet counter:-( .steak taste terrible, tooo much sauce , steak looks swimming in the plate. Service was poor, behind the counter chatting or making huge noise when walking up and down. I believe they are too busy transforming the restaurant to a BUFFET restaurant and forget who they really are. Sad !

Absolutely shocking experience tonight. We waited 45 minutes for our food that apparently was taken by another table. The starter that we ordered never came and when the mains came they were on dirty plates. The attitudes from both waiter and manager were pathetic! When we ended up cancelling everything as the experience was so awful we received the bill for our drinks which we paid and the waiter did not even apologise. All in all probably the worst dining, or rather waiting, experience I have ever had!
Claudia Penny
The atmosphere here is very plain and typical of a restaurant situated inside a mall during the day, I'm not sure what it's like at night though.

We had a burger special, which was good (not my best) and really enjoyed the veggie sides that they bring with each meal.

The service was slow, but we didn't have any major problems.
Stuart M
Quaint vibe in this small grill house.... reasonably priced, good wine selection...especially on the days when one can try the chef's special on Sunday afternoons...worth a visit when one doesn't feel the need to cook on a particular day.
Kelly Russell
Delicious steaks and amazing service, however towards the end of the meal we felt really uncomfortably rushed. The waitress brought the bill as my partner was taking his first bite of dessert and we still had half a glass of wine each to sip over. Rather a dissapointing end to a nice evening.

What a fantastic place. Been a couple of times, once for a friend's birthday and another on a romantic date night. My boyfriend and I are massive steak fans and well this place most certainly delivers on great steak. We used our entertainer the last time we went and so value for money was off the charts. Staff are always super friendly, really helpful and their product knowledge is impeccable. We have booked for this coming Saturday again. Keep up the good work CB team!!
Donne Stratford
Popped in to try their breakfast (only served on a Saturday) and was pleasantly surprised. Everything you could ask for served on your plate for R69. Bacon sausage eggs potato rosti baked beans chips and grilled tomato. Great value for money and the service was excellent too.
Angie Jones
Last night I went to this restaurant and the food was awesome which you rarely get,but for some reason my night was spoilt as a waiter was swearing around the waiter station and at the cash desk and we were seated in between and that was Not on as it just spoilt my meal and im DEFINITELY not returning to Cattle Baron Constantia
Bianca
We went there for dinner tonight and had a terrible experience. The food all arrived wrong. We had to tell the waiter what was wrong with the food. The side salads didn't arrive. The owner came by to see if all was fine and when we complained she said she will call the waitor! Food was dry and tasteless. Meat was undercooked and came out raw. They didn't attempt to return it and fix it. When the bill came no apology was made or price discounted. Will never return.
Lauren Dickason
Went for their Sunday Lunch Buffet, very impressed with the service and the front of house man at the door. He was incredibly accommodating. The food was pretty good, not as outstanding as some of the other Cattle Barons but overall we had a lovely lunch and would return.

Absolutely shocking experience at Cattle Baron this evening. Our waiter was friendly at the beginning and we ordered the Camembert for starters and two steaks for mains. This was at 8pm. Our waiter disappeared quite quickly off the scene (no complimentary bread in sight) and by 8:45 we were still waiting for our starter. The manager then appeared and said the food had left the kitchen but wasn't at our table (no kidding). He said they'd put through an express order and the food would be with us shortly. Still no sight of our waiter. The steaks, delivered by another waitress, arrived at the table about 20 minutes later (no sign of the Camembert). Our waiter then reappeared and I told him to cancel the Camembert. He said he thought that would be a good idea (obviously). We had another look at the plates and they were both dirty and grimy, full of fingerprint marks and one had a brown rim. My husband got up from the table and went inside to complain. You would have thought that the manager would try to appease a very irritate customer, but both the waiter and the manager seemed quite flummoxed that we weren't prepared to eat off dirty plates and weren't overly apologetic. My husband told the waiter to bring our bill for the drinks - never in a million years did we think they'd oblige. Oh, but they did. The waiter brought the bill, dumping it unceremoniously on the table and avoiding eye contact at all times. He barely acknowledged us and seemed most put out that we'd inconvenienced him. No manager in sight. And that was that. Cattle Baron, is this the best you've got? Because it really isn't good enough. You have a lot to learn about customer service and addressing wrongs when they happen. All restaurants have bad nights and that's perfectly acceptable, but the way this was handled was not. Pull up your socks. Easily the worst dining experience I've ever had and I won't ever be back. You've lost a previously loyal customer.

Note: Photos are from a previous visit. After reading my review, the owner made contact with me and apologized for the bad service we received. He assured me that this is not the level of service that one can expect at Cattle Baron (having visited a number of times before, I would agree with this) and he will be taking the matter up with the manager and the waiter involved. Well done to Cattle Baron for addressing the matter promptly and appropriately. I have upped my review to a 3/5 for this reason.

Love the steaks here! They always cook them to perfection. If you're feeling like treating yourself, add a sauce - my favorites are the cheese, mushroom and blue cheese sauces. The side vegetables (creamed spinach and pumpkin) are delicious and the onion rings are great too. This place is always busy so try to get there early or make a booking beforehand just to be safe.
Junior
This is one of the best steakhouses that I have ever been to. The quality of meat is top notch and the service matches up. Love the intimate set up that they have going on. Their butternut and creamed spinach is unmatched.
Gert Hofhuis
Despite a full house on New Year's Eve, the service and quality of fare was excellent. Our party of 9 was served by Precious, who excelled all evening with her service and lovely sense of humour. Very knowledgable of the menu items, her recommendations were all excellent. The meat quality (mainly aged steaks) was good, and accompanying vegetables were well prepared. The cherry on the top is the BYO policy, with no corkage charge! Pricing for the generous portions is at a reasonable level. We'll definitely be back!
Sereshan Pillay
Was here last night for dinner as my dad was in town. The setting is the standard fare and being situated at the Constantia Village, there is plenty of parking which is a rarity in Cape Town. The quality of the meat is excellent! I had the Madagascan pepper steak served with mash which was fantastic. My brother had the Chateaubriand Steak which was presented very elegantly. There is also complimentary creamed spinach and butternut. Overall a really enjoyable dinner!

I have yet to have a bad experience at any Cattle Baron branch, their service is always phenomenal , and their Constantia branch is no different. Tucked away at the edge of Constantia Village, it has a lovely location. Food was great too, as always. For starters I ordered their crumbed mushrooms which were delicious and moreish. I usually go for their ribs as they are the best, but decided to try something different this time. I got their grilled sole with lemon butter. Perfectly cooked fish!

A little disappointed with this restaurant lately. We used to come every week for our meat intake, but since the menu has changed a little we come less. We nonetheless booked a table on Friday to sit inside upstairs, only to be seated outside in the courtyard (it was a rainy cold spring/summer night) we then waited quite a while before anyone came to assist. We left soon after and probably won't be returning soon. (The 2,5 points is only for the great vegetable side served with the meal).
Carl Gordon
The food was ok but not great - one fillet steak had sinew and the onion rings were bland. Service was very slow and the manager had a bad attitude when we had a complaint. Won't be going back anytime soon

Cattle Baron needs no introduction - an upmarket Grill house with white table cloths and a bustling atmosphere.

They offer a wide range of steaks, served with rice, baked potato or chips, and the famous complimentary creamed spinach and sweet butternut. Pastas and a vegetarian platter are also available to non-meat eating guests.

Their steaks are great and cooked to perfection the way we like it. The Fillet Champignon is served with a generous amount of pan fried mushrooms in a garlic and cream sauce. Hubby opted for a steak stacked with caramelised onions, baby potatoes and chorizo.

Overall good experience and conveniently located in the Constantia Village great for family dinner.
Wayne Manuel
Took my family there for some breakfast. Food is nice. Price is also reasonable. They are open very early. Waitress was very friendly. Very relaxing atmosphere

An institution in Constantia
✔️ Make sure you book a table in advance otherwise you won't get it
✔️ Carpetbagger is amazing
✔️ The ribs are out of this world - the 1kg is enough to feed an army so if you hungry - this will help you
✖️ if you order wedges with your meal you get like 6 😤
✖️ the side salad is large but only has leaves 🌿 really disappointing 😖
✔️ they know how to cook their meat really well

My boyfriend and I always come to your establishment for take away steak. Today we decided to try the sauce burger and the Nevada burger. Both burgers were meant to be medium rare.
I can say that these burgers were quite possibly the worst burgers I've ever had. Both burgers were raw, the rolls were soggy, and the garnish was either old or off.
I decided to call in and complain about the burgers. The waiter (ROY) I spoke to told me to hold and in stead of putting the phone on hold I could hear him imitating my complaint in a sarcastic high pitched voice in the background (which was most disturbing to me). When I confronted him about his sarcastic manner that I clearly heard in the back ground, he told me that I misinterpreted and misheard him (clearly covering up his lie). Instead of apologizing for his actions he continued to argue that I misinterpreted and misheard what he said.
We could not eat the burgers and in stead had to eat the side veg we received as a "meal".
The moral of the story is not about the food that we received as this could have easily been resolved over a brief polite conversation. But rather the manner in which the waitron addressed me with complete disrespect. It is disappointing to know that disrespect for patrons exists behind the scenes of an establishment that I respect.
Ryan Goodman
Very satisfying Sunday lunch. 300g Chateaubriand medium rare was was fantastic and the Sole hit the spot. Sides (onion rings and creamed spinach) were very tasty. Service is a bit slow and the cutlery really cheap - not what you'd expect from a restaurant charging R190 for a steak. Overall decent experience without being exceptional.
Simone Hasselbach
We've been here a couple of times but these days we order takeout from them through MRD. Works out much better because they aren't "open" the whole day so if you're earlier than say 6pm for supper, you basically have 2 options - have a drink in the bar or come back later. In our case we simply do MRD. The space upstairs is great for group bookings and they do the usual lunch specials and Sunday buffets. Food is great and service is ok...
Barbara Ann Hall
If you're looking for a decent steak you're at the right place! You'll be served by a reasonably acceptable waitron with a hearty plate of food. Wine list is varied. However, I do think the side servings could be a bit more interesting and try to get a table downstairs or you could feel a bit claustraphobic... It can get a little 'stuffy'
TerryCPT
The service was good, very attentive and listened well to requests. I had the fillet medium rare, and it was delivered perfectly. The mash was good, and the traditional warm veg was nice (but the portion was quite small for the table). Other guests with ribs loved them, but the cleaning bowls were delivered quite late(room for improvement). The atmosphere is lovely however a tad hot upstairs, better ventilation would be great. But overall a great dining experience. Definitely a good spot for meat!
Bianca Jooste
Great, friendly service. We had the fillet and it was really delicious. Also a bonus is that you get the veggies as a side dish (creamed spinach and pumpkin)
Kerryn Rehse
We went to Cattle Baron Grill House for dinner using the Entertainer app. Food was good but was soured by the exorbitant corkage charge of R50. When asked, manager said that corkage is set by Entertainer - not too sure how true that is?
Jessica Stromin
Nice atmosphere, good service. The steaks are great, be sure to have one if you're coming here as the rest of the food is slightly average. Nice chips too. Pictured is the flambéed brandy peppercorn steak.
Jamie Jacobs
Last time I was here I had the best, most tender steak I've ever tried! The flavours were amazing and even though the menu that night was a la carte as Valentine's Day special, I savoured each bite of that steak. The service is quite good, only thing I think that should be considered is expanding the restaurant if possible, as sitting upstairs can get a bit cramped, where you want at least a reasonable amount of space when you're dining out. However, given the great flavours of the steak I could overlook the close proximity of fellow diners.

In search of a good variety of desserts.... surprised to find so little in the area so we settled on Cattle Baron which offers a good variety.
We ordered creme brulee (which had split but was served anyway); chocolate fondant which was delicious (but served with ice cream that had developed icicles); chocolate mousse (that was more cream than chocolate resulting in weak colour & flavour - could have been reconstituted); traditional I've cream and bar one sauce. Sadly crepe suzettes were not on offer due to lack of cointreau and grand marnier.
Ordered coffee which was average.

Service was passionless and automated.
Sandy
I had dinner at this restaurant yesterday evening.
I was bitterly disappointed.
- The service was beyond terrible - the waitrons have no etiquette at the front of house - we waited ages to be seated.
- It took 15 minutes for someone to come and take our drinks order, and a further 50 minutes for our food to arrive.
- Our waiter came and told us that our food would be out in a minute, yet 10 minutes later we were still waiting! Rather just be honest and say that there is backup in the kitchen, at least we know what to expect then.
- My husband ordered blue cheese sauce - it was the most unappetising thing to see - it looked like curdled powder sauce.
Rob Peter Verhagen
Excellent venue with a very posh atmosphere and well trained waiters. Food is cooked to perfection and their puddings are generous. Very popular, need to book to get a table.
Coral Le Roux
Golly gosh, but this franchise has become expensive! Rather don't calculate the price of the meat per kg if you want to enjoy your meal. The long and the short of this visit: Good steak; Bad service. We waited 10 minutes for a waiter to pay attention to us, and when we asked if he was our waiter, he said "now I am", as if we were an after-thought. That's about the best way possible to alienate a customer. 'Nuff said.
Glen Hunt
We grabbed a last minute table and was to be a quick meal. I found the service polite and efficient. We both opted for steak and was done to our liking. Not really a fantastic meal but it was good.
Adrian Kaplan
We were part if a large party of 16 people and despite the large group the service was good and tge food came out quickly. I had the 500g beef ribs which were really chewy and fatty and my wife had the chicken shnitzel which was very dry and needed to be basted thick with a sauce. The atmosphere is cosy and service is great but next time I'll order a steak.
Amy Imogen Tanzer
Experience 3/5
Always a delight when looking for a good quality meal with family. A fairly smart atmosphere while still having vibe suited to an older generation family experience

Service 4/5
Service is friendly and good - can sometimes get a waiter who isn't on the ball or the kitchen has made us wait 1.5 hours for our meal once

Location and decor 3/5
Located in constantia village it's easy to access and there is ample parking right outside. The decor is very minimalistic and echoes old school grills with long white linen table cloths and sturdy chairs and tables. A darker atmosphere downstairs compared to the white and well lit upstairs

Food 4/5
I've only ever had their pork ribs which are phenomenal. It comes with butternut and creamed spinach which is out of this world. Will always go back for that
Phoebe Kondylis
Not my favourite spot. It has no vibe or ambience. The service is super slow and the food is really not amazing. The meat is bland, the sauces taste fake and the salads are really unexciting.
Meegan Kieffer
We visited Cattle Baron as a party of 7 to celebrate my son's birthday. I called to book and checked corkage which they confirmed was free for wine but R35 for sparkling wine. 3 of us ordered ribs and 3 ordered steak and 1 salad. The ribs and steak arrived but the salad arrived after enquiring midway through our mains. My steak which I requested as medium was more well done but the flavour was good so didn't bother complaining. I had ordered side mushrooms which never arrived. We then ordered coffee, tea and a latte. Coffee and tea arrived but no latte. Had to remind waiter of the order. When the bill arrived they had charged us R50 a bottle for corkage. Their reasoning being that we had Entertainer vouchers. As we advised the manager if we were told upfront that corkage was R50 at least I would have been aware instead of springing it on me. The manager then told us that they charge it otherwise they lose money. Now I ask why be part of the app if you are not willing to take the knock for the future benefit. They have now lost customers as I live in the area and would have returned but not after that service.

Managed to get a walk-in table! 5 minute wait at the bar - then a table was arranged for me. This place is always full - so booking recommended. A planned visit here is worth the trouble. Very very good steakhouse - probably a bit more than a steakhouse - edging towards "fine dining".
Blue cheese snails to start - excellent. Then ordered fillet "on the bone" which is something you generally don't see on the menu. Ordered it Rare - and that's what came. It was a melt-in-the-mouth piece of meat! Could have been a touch warmer - but it was awesome! You come back here for the steak - end of story! The good peri-peri sauce also helped!
Kim Stoffberg
I have been there a few times and been satisfied ! Last night was a let down for me my chicken schnitzel was very very dry! The veg was ok had better and then our dessert was served with a straw berry coulis that was made from jam! I am a chef so I know what a coulis should taste like! Hope next time you step up your game.
Candice
Very disappointing visit. Calamari starter was mediocre. My mom had a pathetic salad that cost 75 bucks - some lettuce , cucumber, tomato and liver . My dad tried the lunch buffet ... not bad for 75 bucks but food wasn't great . Riblets were fatty and tough. Definitely not going back there . Also when sitting upstairs it's rather inconvenient to trek up and down the tiny staircase to help yourself to the buffet. The only positive was that our waiter was friendly and super efficient .
Peter
Never disappoints when you're looking for a great steak. The service was a bit slow but the steak made up for the service. Definitely one of the better cattle Baron branches
Trevor Pols
What a cosy little restaurant. The ambiance is great, the service average. But I find myself going back over and over again for the chateaubriand, this steak is always cooked to perfection with tons of flavour and gets a 9/10 on my rating scale. The restaurant could do with a few improvements to the general layout, decor and service. They also serve a great Sunday buffet roast
Derek Miller
So we went for a quick bite at Cattle Baron in Constantia on Friday night without booking. It was about 8:20 and looked full but the staff were friendly and welcoming and suggested we wait at the bar as people were starting to leave. We were seated before we finished our first drink! The steaks are generally good but my rump was average and the Madagascar pepper sauce disappointing, insipid and starchy. The Fillet Kasbah was the best dish of the evening, tasty and spicy. My wife had the chicken Bacamberry and said it was good, generous portion, enough for a light lunch tomorrow! The waiter was attentive but my usual complaint.... The tables are too close together!
Chris Leavey
My husband and i had the buffet lunch last thursday the calarmari was outstanding the rest of the buffet was very good service was excellent and unobstrusive Will definably be back
Best Bargain for pensioners
Jenny Sarah Coulson
Ooooooh steak. You know you can't go wrong with a fat rump from the Cattle Baron. Mine was perfectly cooked and came with some decent veggies on the side. I had the creme brulee for dessert, and although I'm not sure how I managed it, it was worth it - buttery and with a nice thick topping that I kinda had to beat into submission before it gave way. (In other words, just the way I like it). The service was good, even though it was a busy night. A great place to go with the family for a proper meat-fest.
Danica Astra Prout-Jones
I'm a chicken lover and I will only branch out and order fillet or beef at a restaurant if I'm 100% sure that it will be brilliant! Red meat at restaurants tends to cost an arm and a leg and there is nothing worse than sawing through a tough piece of meat or suffering through an underdone fillet when prices are sky high. But I am without a doubt a Cattle Baron Red Meat Supporter and Promoter all the way!! I've tried a few dishes and have yet to be let down! The fillet is exquisite and cooked to perfection, whichever way you like it! The Madagascar Fillet comes with the yummiest mushroom sauce and is a must try! Saving the best for last, I cannot brag enough about the juicy Rack of Ridiculously Ravishing Ribs that this place has absolutely mastered the art of preparing! I was nervous to try it but my sisters had ordered them before and convinced me to take the risk, which turned out not to be a risk at all! The lighting in the restaurant is a bit too dark, but considering the amazing food, this flaw only inhibits my ability to get a clear view of the meal on my plate before I devour it! The meat lovers have GOT TO GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY!

The Early Bird Special is total value for money. Prices range from R49 to R59. Steak was perfectly cooked and the mushroom sauce was delicious. Our waiter Henry was amazing. Oh and they had load shedding which was not an issue.
Debbie Bergmann-harris
We had to do a shopping foray to Constania this chilly morning and decided to have lunch. I have to admit that I have never been to the Cattle Baron and figured this was a good a time as any to give it a go.

We arrived to busy spot of silver haired foxes and foxettes as unbeknown to us they run a lunch special buffet even more expectional value for pensioners.

I opted for the special and hubby had the fillet. My choices included 2 stews, calamari and overly sweet lamb riblets. The stews were good, the calamari not chewy (the sauce again for me too sweet) but the potatoe wedges were the winner.
Stuart
Went to cattle baron Friday evening. Very busy. Had a lovely waiter who was very attentive. Ordered starters and main course. Both were delicious. A very clean we'll run restaurant. We'll be back ?
Jonathan Thomas
First class all the way. Been many times...been impressed everything.
Food - Amazing,
Decor - Modern,
Service - Excellent
Try the ribs...you won't regret it!
Edawgy
Some really good food, especially the ribs. Their lunch buffet in the week is a steal, however take note you can only have two plates, and it doesn't say anything on the board. The waiter failed to explain this to us, but the manageress was happy to rectify the situation. Expect a lot of old folk too due the pensioners discount. Place is a bit dark and dingy for me.
Claire
My local favourite! The salads are amazing (incredible house dressing) and the steaks are very hard to beat. The chateaubriand is absolutely delicious - a must try. Casual, comfortable and great service. Highly recommended.
Sarah-Lee Tinney
Do it !! I had the rib and prawn combo- it was amazing ! Never have I tasted ribs like that. Really incredible. It was a bit chilly upstairs but the food came quite quickly.
Godfrey Shev
The current menu prices are higher than those shown in the menu on this site.

Presumably no one is taking the initiative to update this web site and customers then come away disgruntled. However the actual service is good and friendly and the food wàs not disappointing.
Nicholas Wright
I haven't had pork ribs in at least 3 years, so when Amber, my girlfriend, suggested I order them at the Cattle Baron I was slightly giddy with excitement.

What ensued was about 15 minutes of pure and utter heavenly bliss. My ribs literally fell off the bone, I didn't need a knife to cut through them and could tear the meat easily with my hands, and the basting on the ribs was absolutely incredible. I had potato wedges with my meal which were the Cattle Baron ribs of potato side dishes, just as amazing!

I would recommend you leave whatever you are doing right now, forget about all your dreams and wishes, and go straight there. Then order the pork ribs and have your life changed.

Also, ask for Joe to serve you, he is the friendliest and coolest guy in Cape Town. He also recommended the pork ribs which makes him my hero, forever.
