3rd time we are here and food is again good. The look and feel of place is ok....ish. The waitrons are very well informend of their menu and very friendly. Will recommend for more visits.

Undoubtedly one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Cape Town, in terms of quality of food and presentation. The food selection was good (not great but good) and so was the wine menu. Their deserts were also very good and the cheese cake is to be commended. However, I was disappointed by the service... although the staff was friendly at all times, it took them forever to deliver our food with an average of 25/30 minutes between our courses... this part is what annoyed me the most and I suggest not visiting this outlet if you are in a hurry
Very nice relaxed setting and service near groot constantia, food is good, I had the fillet steak the cognac pepper sauce was the best part of the dish. chicken curry which looked fantastic and was a very big portion next time I'll definitely be back to try the kudu loin.
One of the nicest restaurants I've been to in Cape Town. They have a good selection of wines in a beautiful setting in Constantia. During winter, the heaters were not working, the waiter brought blankets for all of us. Been there twice already and will definitely go there again!
Vriendelijke bediening. Lekkere fillet steak en burgers. Veel keuze, oa ook exotisch vlees - Springbok. Smaaklik. De nagerechten zijn origineel.
Pastis is excellent. The food, wine list and surroundings are fantastic. I had a Kudu burger with a homemade chutney. The Cabernet Franc from High Constantia was also great. Really a nice, relaxing place.
Had lunch at Pastis recently. The outside seating has a tranquil garden feel to it, the service was friendly and the wine list quite extensive. The menu has only a couple of vegetarian options to pick from.
I decided to try their veg burger which comes with an option of fries or salad on the side. The patty was fresh and complimented the other flavours in the burger, but was a little bland by itself. My friend ordered a stir fry from their specials menu which was well balanced and flavoursome.
Overall, a pleasant lunch with good service and nice food. Would be great to see a few more vegetarian options on the menu.
Absolutely love this place! The food is always fantastic and the place has such a nice, relaxed vibe! Great experience every time! Highly recommend it.
I went to Pastis on a warm summer morning for the first stop on a coffee crawl, and it is really lovely.
With both indoor and outdoor seating, it's a great spot no matter the weather. On the day, they had a very cool special deal - a slice of cake (I tried the carrot cake and it was really delish) and a drink (I went with a cappuccino).
Others in our group tried the coffee milkshake and raved about it - perfect for a sweltering hot day.
Probably the only downside was it was incredibly busy, so it was quite noisy and a little cramped in the outdoor area. Otherwise a very cool spot!!
Salads and burgers are amazing.......fresh and crunchy. Very chilled atmosphere sitting outside in the picturesque setting of Groot Constantia. Very popular with the tourists, an array of accents around. Will definitely be back.
A really gem in the heart of Constantia! The food is really tasty and we were greeted with some really friendly service👍🏻 The setting is really such a bonus and despite being right next to the road it somehow maintains a natural, garden-like atmosphere🌱 The cherry on the top is that it is really good value for money! I can highly recommend Pastis to anyone and everyone👍🏻
Food was Devine. Atmosphere incredible ! Was drizzling outside and my boyfriend decided to treat me to brunch. We were seated near the fire place by the friendliness of hosts and the coffee was so lovely it warmed my soul. By far the best open faced sandwhich I've had in a While . Not a mayo person but the home made mayo was to die for.
I have decided to change my review (from a 3). We went for dinner the other night and were pleasantly surprised. The service was great and the food exquisite! The prawns were possibly some of the best I've tasted in a while; they were fresh and done perfectly (not overcooked, which was refreshing). My mussel starter was a generous portion and I will definitely be coming back for more!
Really loved stumbling upon this cutie of a restaurant! It was freezing and pouring with rain when we decided to pull over and stop for a glass of wine and something warm to eat. I went in with no expectations and was warmly greeted by the staff - who very kindly sat us front and center of the fireplace. Lovely setting, beautiful location, a really good menu and friendly waiters- perfect!
Really great setting! Waiters are friendly and very efficient. Food was good. Great ambience outside for a chilled lunch. Would really love to try it in the evening sometime as I hear they have a band that plays outside on a weekend.
This is casual dining at its best. No aires or graces here ,the service and food are matched perfectly. The fillet needs a special mention here, superbly done! This is the perfect spot for a relaxed lunch. Pleasantly surprised and will definitely return.
Beautiful little bistro in the heart of Constantia with a very impressive menu which is forever growing. They have interesting menu options such as a quinoa burger for vegetarians. A lovely outside area and fire place area for the colder winter days. There is also a bar if you want to pop in for a drink.
We had a relaxing lunch at Pastis a few weeks ago. The manager and waitress were very efficient and on the ball.The rooibos chicken was outstanding with the Constantia Sauvignon Blanc.
Had a Chef's 🍔,, was very delicious, since a 🍔 is my favourite of foods, anyways enjoyed the burning fires while having supper on a lovely Thursday evening ....
Had a great evening at Pastis post an evening trail run, I mention this as we arrived there quite late. Despite this they gladly welcomed us, we all had burgers, they were simply fantastic and easily one of the best burgers I have had in CPT. Nice thick patties with no shortage of fillings. They also have a good selection of beers on tap. I would recommend this place without a shadow of doubt.
When I looked up pet friendly restaurants on Zomato, Pastis came up and because I hadn't been there before I decided to give it a try and all I can say is that it was fantastic. I had a chicken open sandwich and everything from the presentation of the food to the taste of the food, was flawless. Proper value for money and a great spot for lunch with an outside area for pets to roam around. Ironically though I think I would prefer to go here for lunches instead of dinner as inside looks a little posh.
I really enjoyed my experience at this quaint resturant:) I had the vegetarian burger and it was very tasty and satisfying:) I would defiantly recommend this restaurant.
I went for a quick light lunch by myself on Friday. There were only about 10 or 12 other people and sitting outside was great. The waiter was pleasant and efficient and brought my beer smartly then took my order. I had the Chefs Burger which says 200 gr party. The meal took 27 min to come(I was alone so I timed it!) which I think was a bit long and the party was a bit small(see the photo, the fork should give perspective!). The flavours were good and the sauce tasty but he best was the beer😀 Jack Black Draught, first time for me but not the last. Overall average but ok for occasional meal if you are not in a hurry. One other interesting observation is that each table has 2 salt cellars, no pepper?
Their salmon is AMAZING! The prawn curry is also incredible. The atmosphere is lovely...we went there on a cold evening and there was a nice fire inside that gave a great ambiance. We went there once for lunch on a sunny Sunday and sat outside which was nice. They allow dogs in the outside section which is good to know for dog-lovers. The steak was very tough so we wouldn't recommend that. Service also isn't the fastest so don't be in a hurry when you go there...sit back, relax and enjoy the vibe and your salmon. :)
I had the salmon steak last night, was good without being the best I've had. I've always found this to be a great weekend dinner spot with excellent service and a comfortable ambiance. I've had several dishes and generally I'd say the food here is better than most.
Pastis in Constantia is really quite lovely. The little high Constantia center is always packed with families and friends out enjoying the sunshine, good food and wine. We sat outside and settled in for an afternoon of crisp white wine, chats and delicious food. It’s very chilled, service is good and prices are decent. I’ll be back to try their burgers… I’ve heard great things so I’m keen to tuck in.
Lovely ambiance and good service. Chocolate fondant was awesome. Ribs and lamb shank could have been better. Pulled pork really good but portion could be a little bigger for price.
Great spot for a brewskie and a burger, especially outside in the sun. Had the beef, bacon and cheese burger - patty was delicious!
Service was great. Will definitely be back to try out some of their other dishes.

We absolutely love Pastis as a family! Besides the great selection of beer and wine on offer - the food has never been disappointing.
We went today for a last minute, lazy Sunday feast to celebrate the sunny Cape Town weather. The plan was actually just to have some yummy dessert, but then we ended up staying for dinner as well.
Life is short, so we had our desserts first. I had the Praline Cup With A Duo of Mousse -it's a crunchy nutty basket that tastes a lot like peanut brittle filled with Cointreau mousse and rich Kahlua Coffee Chocolate mousse. It is indulgence at it's very best - so delicious and served with the most delicious pool of decadent chocolate and white chocolate sauce. It is such a generous serving, I could not finish it - even though I wanted to. I paired it with a lovely Ken Forrester Petit Chenin Blanc. My toddler had the Crepes, and they were super accommodating - replacing the Beurre Suzette with chocolate sauce. I think they were so accommodating seeing as they somehow managed to run out of ice cream 😂 how does that even happen?
My husband and I ordered the Escargot with garlic and freshly parsley butter - although I kind of feel like it should be fresh parsley and garlic butter, but anyway. The Escargot was cooked to perfection, but I felt like it lacked something flavour-wise. It just needs something, I can't quite put my finger in it.
For our mains, Mikayla ordered the toasted cheese and chips and devoured it - so it must have been delicious. They never gave us the option of having brown/white/rye/wholewheat, etc for the bread - so I am assuming they only offer white bread.
Cole and I found a new gem on the menuu - the trio of burgers! For only R75 you can get a selection of three 50g versions of their beed burgers and a a Merry Monk beer. Unfortunately Pastis no longer has the Merry Monk beer, but I was told by a reliable source that they will soon start brewing their own! We were given Jack Black instead - which is pretty much the next best thing.
The first mini burger is the Pastis Classic which consists out of a beef patty, mixed baby herbs, tomato, red onion "New York Relish" and their speciality house basting - so good! The second little burger is the same as the Pastis classic, but with prime bacon and Healy artisan white cheddar. The Chef's burger was my favourite with all the above ingredients, but finished off with lashings of spicy chipotle and jalapeño chillis, fried onions, bacon and emmenthal cheese. It comes with a generous portion of chips - so well priced!
Overall we had an absolute blast, and although the waiters were friendly and helpful, service was quite slow. Pastis has a great atmosphere, a gorgeous setting and amazing food.
With a fire going on the side and a musician playing his saxophone in the corner, I was rather happy with our choice to be seated in the dining room. It was romantic and relaxing.
My boyfriend ordered the Chef's burger in honour of Burger day, but I think the jalapenos were the main reason for his decision. He said it was very tasty, but would have been a little hot for me and I will take his word for it! I went for the Paella which was delicious, served with a generous portion of six mussels, three decent sized prawn and of course the calamari.
We shared the chocolate cheesecake for dessert, and by sharing I mean I allowed him to have a bite or two ;) it was fresh and oh so good!
Our waitress was friendly and very attentive.
Pastis is a small restaurant tucked away in high Constantia. The venue has the charming classic architecture frequently found in the suburb, with a vineyard as a backdrop to the dining experience.
The staff are friendly and informed, but the service can be a bit slow.
With regards to the food I can speak with experience on a number of items. The crumbed Camembert is a classic favorite, uncomplicated but well executed, the snail starter and the carpaccio are also attractive and tasty. The ribs are generous and well priced, but the cook time can be a bit excessive. The salads are small but the components are fresh and tasty. The pulled pork burger is very sweet and I would consider overpriced and not worth it. The chips served with the meals can be touch and go, a few crispy, a few floppy and a few raw.
All in all however, the dining experience is worthwhile and worthy of a repeat visit. I think it would be best for a lazy midday meal, or casual date.
Awesome little place tucked away in the corner. Great for a quick lunch. Limited menu but everything is pretty good and they run specials from time to time.
Pastis is a great choice for a casual date night or lazy lunch. The old-school French styling, vine covered pergola and occasional live music act all create a charming atmosphere. The menu like the decor, is full of 'the classics' - moules mariniere, steak, veal limone as well as modern classics like hamburgers all cooked to a high standard. The food, service and setting of Pastis all make for a reliably enjoyable experience.
Really enjoyed our evening here. The atmosphere is lovely and our waiter was great. The hamburgers were delicious. An overall great place to eat.
The burgers are delicious and filling... the service was excellent my waiter was bjorn. The live music was a little elevator. But I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys some wholesome food and a good atmosphere.

Had a great lunch at Pastis recently.
They have a lovely patio area covered with vines and large trees around.
I started with the duck liver pate - it was delicious and rich. The I had the salt & pepper calamari as a main course - also excellent.
We had the Constantia Glen Sauvignon Blanc and it went very well with the food.
Also loved the guy in the corner playing the saxophone - a nice touch.
