Review The Brasserie - Constantia

Just celebrated my 60th Birthday, such excellent service, my guests were totally impressed with everything, they really made my Birthday so special ❤️

Dinner was not planned and an impulsive choice. This was one of the best dinner plans ever. Service was excellent, food was incredible. The fish was incredible fresh - crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked and soft on the inside. The vegetables are fresh and colorful with flavor. Made just the way your mother use to make on Sunday brunch. Pizzas have a ton of toppings to choose from and with a thin base made at the restaurant it is unique and delicious. The atmosphere is lovely for a night out with your partner or have some family-friendly bonding time. The fireplace gives the restaurant a homey feel.

Had Xmas lunch booked and the food, service and atmosphere was top notch. A real Christmas vibe. Thank you for a delicious 5 star menu.

The Brasserie A true hidden gem here in the Southern Suburbs. Just around the corner from Tokai forest and perfect for a breakfast, brunch or a refreshing aperitif after a forest walk. I have visited on a few occasions over the past year, never for breakfast thought, but will update the review when I do, twice for lunch and once for dinner. On every occasion the service has been on point and the food delicious. I particularly enjoy the specials that never seem to go out of fashion, for example; the Mon & Tues pizza deal 2 for 1, a lunch special menu Mon-Sat, and the Sun roast, and Im sure there is a happy hour at the bar too. The menu is vast, from traditional offerings like ‘fish & chips’ to risotto’s. Ciao ~SB 🍽️

Good food & the house wine was very nice as well. The service was excellent. You need to book as this restaurant is very popular

Amazing find at a great price. We happened across this eaterie about 4 weeks ago, and have returned twice since. The quality is faultless, the atmosphere good and the price-to-quality ratio is excellent. No hesitation in awarding five stars - just hope it doesn't become too difficult to get a table in future!

Belated Annibirthday (anniversary & hubby's bday) getaway weekend.... First stop and WOW I have to give it #thebrasserietokai , everything from the chilli prawns to the caprese salad and the pizza was absolutely #umami . Not often that a simple light meal turns put to be spectacular!!!! FIVE STARS all the way!

The Brasserie is a typical southern suburbs sit down where the food is delicious, the service is attentive and the views are great. It's tucked away in a quiet tokai hideaway, shaded by trees and in the same complex as the Tokai Bootleggers and the Village Butcher. The atmosphere - for breakfast at least - is serene and laidback. You get the sense the place comes alive at night. Shoutout to the cooks because the food is delicious. Also the barista deserves a special mention because the Chai latte is really good.

Hello! My family and I attended the 50th wedding anniversary lunch on Friday 8th September. I would just like to say how much I enjoyed the experience, particularly your very efficient and unobtrusive wait staff, they were happy, polite and attentive, without being pushy. You should be very proud of them! The fish and chips were delicious, the best batter I've had in a very long time.i am here on holiday from the UK, and am hoping to visit The Brasserie again before I go back. Thank you once again!

Awesome dining experience! Delicious meal and attentive service from our waiter. The bathroom was also clean and elegant :-D

Had a lovely meal here with some friends. They have a very reasonable lunch special and we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly the food came after we ordered.
Michelle Meyer
Warm cozy atmosphere. Food was delicious. Service could have been a wee bit more attentive but will be back 😁
Debby Taylor
Cosy on a cold day with a fire going, food was very tasty and perfect service! Good selection of meals, with interesting specials and the best malva pudding I've ever had. There is an outdoor area which will be fab in summer, can't wait to go back :)
Marc Plastow
Had a drink and a pizza. Sat at the bar. Nice atmosphere 😎

Very chilled rustic place. The chef accommodated me as I wanted the lunch at 11am so I appreciated that but next time we’ll come later as the breakfast was alright :) we had a cool waitress tough, thanks Media 🫶🏽

Enjoyed a Sunday lunch. Nice place great atmosphere. Service was a bit slow. But will definitely go back
Nina Daniela Dunbar-Curran
What an amazing experience! The food is delicious and the customer service is one of the best I've experienced. We ordered a pizza and a small bit of it got pulled off when taking the pizza out the oven and the manager Mike brought us another half a pizza to apologise. We didn't complain or even mention it but they went out their way to make our afternoon great! Ill definitely be coming back here again and again!

Never had a bad meal at The Brasserie. Sunday lunch we had a Vegan and a Vegitarian with us. I made mention of this when booking. What a lovely surprise when we sat down and they acknowledged this. They even prepared an off the menu vegan dish. Now that is what I call service! Well done to Management and staff 👍🏻
Erica Smal-Jacobs
Seriously one of the best restaurants we ate from in ages. Our pizza and pasta was perfect, the mojitos definitely a winner and the service from the waitress, Christy was exceptional. Thank you for having such a gem!
Dianne Schmidt Steenkamer
We absolutely love the restaurant but I am SO sad that you have taken the veggie burger off your menu. It was my favorite. Being vegetarian it was one of my best veggie burgers I’ve had. Really sad

The Brasserie is my favorite restaurant in Cape Town - I cannot get enough of this place. Amazing service, wonderful ambience and delicious food. The Brasserie has seen a lot of us since we have moved to Cape Town and will continue to see us on a regular basis 😬
Tracey Ward
We have regularly enjoyed dinners and lunches at The Brasserie. Tonight was fantastic again - great food and excellent service from our waiter JP.
Sonja Niederhumer
Very disappointing. I had a kingklip main course (with veg and turnip mash), whose portion size was so small that I was still hungry afterwards. I am a woman, and rarely can finish a main in a normal restaurant. Imagine if a man ordered this as a main...?? They charged me R187 for this!! After I gave some feedback, absolutely no effort was made to apologize, or offer me something in addition so that at least I wouldn't still be hungry. This meal was an absolute rip off. Certainly not coming back here.

Me and the Mrs went for dinner. Great atmosphere, waitresses on par and extremely attentive and food was excellent. Definitely going back sooner than later

Amazing service amazing food in a great location.. If anyone is in cape town or southern suburbs this is a must
Duane van Vuuren
The pizzas were amazing. We wanted to make use of the Entertainer App to pay but unfortunately because of the T's and C's on the app we couldn't because it was Mother's Day and therefore considered a "public holiday". But overall it was good food with a cool and cosy vibe. Keep it up.
Adela Jansen
Scrumptious food, great venue, awesome friendly staff, that knows the menu extremely well, will definitely be back

Had an excellent lunch . The curry was amazing. Our waitress was really great and we had a lot of fun with her, Manager also great.
Noel Marten
Really poor experience all around, slow service, manager was defensive and rude when we tried to address the issues. Meals were all aroind terrible, burnt, stale, oily, not finished or presented well. We had to do takeaway as took so long, the pictues say it all....
Natalie Reid
Lets start with the drinks Orange juice Tasted like Oros Starters Covered in sauce that tasted like cheap mayonnaise Also a mistake and the incorrect order arrived It was not corrected Main meals We waited for 45 minutes, and had to leave as we had movie tickets Zero care or effort from the management, who threw the food down at us We ate in the car as we raced to our show Our food was burnt The bread was stale The chips were dripping in oil GROSS! But the manager made the whole thing worse RUDE RUDE RUDE Will never go back again.

Decided to go for a birthday supper with family and friends. Our 1st time visiting this place and after having our 1st supper here, I have no idea why we haven't been here sooner. On our doorstep is this gem, with friendly staff, always with a smile and food cooked just right with perfect portion sizes. Really had a good time here and the vibe is comfortable and good for chatter. I order the Fillet au Poivre as my main and the classic Creme Brulee
Eleanora Bresler
A hidden gem. Superb venue. Lovely outside area and would be a great function venue too. Friendly staff. Great lunch special and delicious food! Definitely will be back!

For almost five years we regularly lunched at The Brasserie. We took my elderly mother who lived nearby. The food and service was consistently good. Yesterday we took my aunt for lunch, presuming the food would be wonderful. It was not. It was cold, bland; the service painfully slow. At no time did a waiter ask if our food was okay. A slice of lemon would have improved the fish. We do a six-hour round trip from the country to come into Cape Town. Lunch better be worth it. I decided to give feedback. The manager was brusque and distracted. Said he was busy, would talk to us at our table. I said, ‘Not in front of my aunt.’ He later gave me his card and phone number; said I could pop in for a meal another time. Not much use to us living way out here. We won’t be going there again.
Kyle
Monday's and Tuesday's are ridiculously good value for money with regards to the respective Pizza and Pasta specials. Tonight was the first time I've been on a different day and I must say the service and quality seems to have increased. Hands down CB has delivered the best service I've ever recieved in a restaurant, simply excellent. Could not recommend highly enough.

We had a delicious Sunday lunch at The Brasserie. Crispy squid starter followed by the crispy bacon & avo pizza, complimented by a lovely bottle of Durbanville Hills at our cozy quart-yard table in the afternoon sun. All items get top marks, and the atmosphere was great! Looking forward to visiting again over the winter months to experience the indoor ambience.

The Brasserie offers a beautiful upmarket look. Definitely a great lunch time spot to catch up with friends. They offer a great selection of foods which include grills, burgers, breakfast and pizzas. We opted for the chicken burger, steak and eggs as well as the pulled pork pizza which was well presented. The food was good and the service was efficient.
Christoffel Goosen
Awesome spot, with great food specials and affordable beer! Value for money, with a wide vegetarian selection. We had one of their pastas and really enjoyed it. The outside ambiance was awesome (outside being a little more casual than inside), and our waiter was great. She never left us waiting and was super friendly. We will be coming back!

We always enjoy our meals at The Brasserie, and our meal last night was no exception. It was incredibly busy and bustling so luckily we booked a table. Service remained good and quite constant throughout the evening despite that. My husband and I both had steak (rump with mushroom sauce and fillet with pepper sauce respectively). The fillet was exceptionally tender and the chips deliciously crispy, although the sauce was not quite peppery enough for my liking. The menu prices are high (R188 for a 180g fillet for example), but the special prices are good and the fact that the restaurant is on the Entertainer makes it very good value. Nice to have a high quality restaurant like The Brasserie around the corner from us in Tokai.

I went out for lunch with a friend the other day and after being out of the country for a few years I decided to go and have lunch at the brasserie. On arrival the welcome was not to my expectations as we seemed lost just standing around waiting for someone to eventually notice we were there. We eventually got seated and chose to sit outside as it was a nice day, we waited long to be served which I could not understand because the restaurant was empty, we waited even longer for our food. I ordered the lamb shank and my friend had the ravioli, the food was average but what lead me to the review was that I found a hair in my food and when I informed the waitress she came to me saying that the chefs just laughed which I found very appalling I left very dissapointed seeing that I use to be an employee at the brasserie a few years back and something like that would have never happend back then.
Kerryn Rehse
Four if us went for dinner at the Brasserie on a Friday evening. Inside of the restaurant was busy but despite that service was excellent. I had the pork belly which was fantastic! Two of the guests had the lamb shank which was massive - melt in your mouth (just a little too sweet for my palate). The last of the party had the Sirloin but was not too blown away by it. <br/>An extra bonus - they are signed up to the Entertainer and we did not experience any problems when we redeemed them.
Bree Street Brent
Awesome vibe, decor, service and food. And probably the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. Had to stop myself from ordering another one. If I lived in the southern suburbs or south peninsula, this would be my restaurant of choice.
Emmerentia Du Plessis
The Brasserie is always a good idea! <br/>*warm and welcoming environment (great for those winter chilly nights)<br/>*wonderful wood fired pizzas - I had the lamb and was it delightful!<br/>*piece of advice to fellow diners - make a reservation ;)

Had lunch with a friend at this restaurant yesterday and had quite a good experience. We arrived just after they opened at 12 and were seated by our super friendly waiter Jason. <br/><br/>I ordered the grilled hake fillet in lemon butter, with crispy parsnips and mash. It also came with a side of veg - cauliflower, broccoli and green beans. The meal was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked! The fish portion was decent, the lemon butter was tasty and went perfectly with the smooth mash and veg. Definitely one of the best hake dishes I've ever had. <br/><br/>My friend ordered the chickpea and tahini burger with handcut chips. He said the burger was a little dry and it fell apart quite a bit, but the patty was delicious. The chips were also great. <br/><br/>Our food arrived within 20 minutes which is not too bad considering I ordered grilled fish. Jason came to check on us a few times and made sure we enjoyed the meal. Parking can be a bit of an issue on busy days. However, their dessert menu looks extensive and I will definitely be back to try some of them out.

The Brassiere for dinner today. The place describes itself as the neighbourhood sanctuary. The restaurant itself is a hybrid between Italian and French styled decor, dimly lit, with a big bar and traditional seating. There is also a semi-private area upstairs good for functions I guess. <br/><br/>The menu offers all sorts of comfort food. They pride themselves on using seasonal produce locally sourced. It's a good family styled restaurant with the service quick and the staff friendly. <br/><br/>For dinner I ordered the flash fried calamari starter and the pork belly for mains. The calamari was good but I wish the lighting was a bit brighter so I could see the individual ingredients better on my plate. The pork belly was done well but the crackling was to hard to snap with your teeth. I'm not a fan of crackling so it didn't bother me. The seasonal roast veggies on the plate were cooked well and overall a tasty well prepared dish. Again the lighting is a bit dim to appreciate the plating and effort that went into creating the dish. I eat with my eyes first. <br/>

I have been here over 20 times at least. <br/><br/>Tonight I went with friends to celebrate my birthday and spent a fortune just to have my night ruined by the manager. <br/><br/>I put in my code to redeem an Entertainer voucher and then when the waiter tried to input his code it lost connectivity. I refreshed the page and it said that my voucher was redeemed. I was understanding and tried to see what the problem was and after we all agreed it's a glitch with the app I said that it's no ones fault except the Entertainer's and that I'd log a ticket with support in the morning. <br/><br/>The manager insisted that it is "my problem and not his" and that I can't leave without paying because the Entertaining won't believe them and pay out. <br/><br/>He got very aggressive and started arguing with the waiter and ignoring me while I was trying to calm the situation. So eventually I said I'm leaving - I tried to open the door and he held it closed and wouldn't let me leave the restaurant. I was scared at this point and used all my might to forces my way out the door. <br/><br/>He yelled at me outside the restaurant and told me to never come back. The worst part is the waiter probably had to pay that excess. <br/><br/>Please get rid of that verbally and physically abusive manager otherwise you've lost a team of regular customers. I'm too scared to go near that man or The Brasserie again. <br/><br/>On that note, I do plan on taking further action against him for not allowing me to leave the building.

<br/><br/>We had dinner with friends on Wednesday evening and the restaurant was warm and inviting as we stepped inside out of the biting cold. It was jam-packed and buzzing and felt a bit like a foreign bistro.<br/><br/>Our Starters included crispy squid with garlic aioli, mushroom risotto, and steak tartare. For mains we had gigantic lamb shanks (with mash) and Fillet au poivre with chunky hand-cut chips and wilted spinach. All the meals were excellent (lots of oohing and aahing around the table) and the fillet in particular was spectacular! The perfect ending to the meal was their malva pudding and THEE most amazing cardamon churrros I have ever tasted! It was warming and very more-ish.<br/><br/>We had excellent service from Aaron and also from the manager who came across to warn me about bag snatchers and suggested we tuck our bags away.<br/><br/>This is fast becoming one of my favourite local restaurants. I've been a few times for lunch but i think its a lot more special at night. Prices are mid range and very good value for money. They are also on the Entertainer app. We unfortunately did not take any pics.

✔️Outside area - really lovely <br/>✔️ Friendly staff that are efficient, don't hover and get the job done <br/>✔️ Simple menu<br/>✔️ I really liked the house white wine <br/>✔️ The pork belly is just incredible - not too fatty and full of flavoured (would have been even better with a few more vegetables or a side)<br/>✔️ The rump special with a creamy mustard/mushroom sauce was delicious - (slightly overdone) the side salad was tasty - some feta would have just made the salad <br/>✔️ The Churros with lemon curd dipping sauce - will change your life - they are what dreams are made of. The churros were not too sweet with a hint of cardamom - yummy!<br/>➕ Not too low carb friendly <br/>✔️ Will be back over and over again

The upstairs room at this restaurant is ideal for a small 60th birthday and that's where we were Friday night. We had a set meal with a choice of 3 dishes for each course. I had the fish cake starter which was quite large but moist and tasty, served on a bed of greens. One in the group had the marrow bones which looked great and were apparently tasty. The Pumpkin Arrancini was really good, smoked paprika cream cheese with pumpkin seeds. I had chicken confit which was tasty and tender but if you have had real French confit it is hard to equal. The pork belly was popular with most and everyone loved it. The hake was also good. All three deserts were great. I had the cheesecake and it was one of the better ones I have had for s while! Service was good and everyone had a great evening.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions now and have yet to be disappointed. Last nights dinner was no exception, I had the Dorado and Sally a sirloin steak.<br/>Service was as good as always with our waiter being knowledgable of the menu and wine selection.<br/><br/>Caution though! In my opinion their prices are on the expensive side but I guess you pay for what you get.
Johnny Jol
A firm favourite for those lazy Friday nights. The warm, cozy atmosphere is perfect for Winter evenings. Great food, and service. On the sweet spot between formal and casual. Definitely on my go-to list when entertaining out-of-towners.

Came here on Friday evening. Very busy and somewhat noisy but nice atmosphere. <br/>Food was generally good for our group. Really enjoyed my kudo.<br/>Waiter was friendly and everything went smoothly.

Love finding new restaurants... Found this Jem after wine tasting and fell in love with it the decor was so warm and lovely... They always have amazing lunch specials... Nice warm heaters to keep the very be cosy... Burgers are so tasty , I recommend that... But they have so much to pick from.... Can't wait to go back... Fresh ravioli....

A lovely place to go for a meal! Great decor, varied menu, quality food and attentive waitrons. It can become noisy and bear in mind, for you golden oldies or 'wheelchair peeps' that the toilets are up a flight of stairs.
Kirstie Rose Heynes
I really enjoyed my girls evening at this establishment. They have really delicious pizza which most of us opted for. The salads also look good and I'd probably try the steak on my next visit. There is no corkage on the first bottle of wine! Perfect for a girls night

The Brasserie seems to have taken a bit of a dip. Used to be a great, family orientated restaurant with amazing food and great atmosphere. These days the food is pretty good, but they menue is deceiving when it comes to the amount of food you get. <br/><br/>The place has also seemed to become very quiet, much fewer customers than there used to be. One great thing? That Chocolate Nemesis! Absolutely delicious!
Tracey Smorenburg
What an awesome dinner! Great food and wine selection. The ambiance in this restaurant is amazing. Our waitress was superb and we absolutely loved it!
Channing Rosener
Had a lovely lunch here :)<br/>The nice cozy, rustic interior makes for a very welcoming dinning experiance. I had the club sandwich, which was from their `lunchClub` special menu (R88 for a meal + wine/ coffee). Sandwich was simple but delicious and filling. <br/>Small menu with great looking/ interesting options. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about food and wine.<br/>Will definitely be back for some more...

I went to the Brassier Restaurant tonight and found it wonderful. The Food, the service of Beatrix and the welcome of the Manager on the door showed a class of its own Restaurant.I can fully understand that you can not bring your own cakes along when they serve the most wonderful Almond Tart with Ice CreamI can recommend this Restaurant very much and will do so to all my friends. We will certainly be back soon.
MC
Bland tough pizzas, poor service and how hard is it to serve a kiddies ice cream and chocolate sauce? When a 4 year old complains about this you know it is terrible!!!!<br/>Manager totally disinterested in our complaint.<br/>We have visited frequently but after tonight will never be back. Standards have definitely dropped and for the price the food is poor quality.

I visited this restaurant for a friend's birthday lunch. The food was great and our waitress was friendly and efficient, unfortunately our celebration had a disappointing end. The birthday girl brought 12 cupcakes for her 12 guests and was only notified of R80 "cakeage" when we received the bill. When we queried this and asked why we were not warned of this addition the manager told us it was industry standard and "now we know for future". Had we have known about this overly charged "cakeage" our birthday girl would have opted to give us our cupcake each once we had left the restaurant. The manager was arrogant, rude and dealt with our concern in a careless and unprofessional manner. I will never go back especially after he refused to address our issues and would rather us leave disappointed. There is no harm in adding cakeage to a bill as I have in the past BUT a warning from the manager or waitress on arrival or when they kept our cakes in the fridge would have been more considerate than simply adding it to the bill. Telling us that your desserts are R45 and we are lucky we're only paying R80 is not addressing the issue as we were never planning on ordering desserts and we would have simply taken our cupcakes home. A shocking experience.
Foodie
I brought a table of 12 customers for lunch for my birthday and we had a lovely meal in a fantastic setting but the manager really dampened our experience by charging me R80 to bring 12 homemade cupcakes along to send home with my guests and then he was so disinterested and obnoxious when I expressed confusion. I'm not one to complain but I own my own business in the food industry and would never handle a customer that way. It's a pity but I won't be back.
Melissa Penny
I visited The Brasserie for the first time this weekend. The staff were very friendly on arrival and quickly seated us at our table. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and, although it was full, it never felt over-crowded. <br/><br/>We sat towards the back of the restaurant from where one could see what was happening in the kitchen and hear the occasional calls of "Yes Chef" as well as our order being read out!<br/><br/>For starters we had angry livers which were amazing (and I'm not generally a fan of livers). Our mains orders were all either the Brass pizza or burger. Both were absolutely delicious and everyone cleaned their plate! For me, the pizza was the winner! <br/><br/>I'll definitely be visiting again soon to try out some of their other exciting looking menu options.

We had a really delicious Sunday lunch at The Brasserie. Their roast pork with all the trimmings was amazing. Tender and juicy pork with light and crispy crackling, veggies, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding and gravy. Top marks! <br/><br/>Another highlight was the dessert - we tried their famous cheesecake with lemon curd and washed it down with boozy don pedros - surprisingly perfect combination. <br/><br/>Loved the homely vibe. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. <br/><br/>We will be back.
Kristen George
I've been to The Brasserie a couple of times and I have never been disappointed. The food has always been consistently good (much like their sister restaurant Societi Bistro) and in all my experiences, service has always been friendly and efficient. I popped in for a quick lunch and I ordered the hake on the lunch club menu. The fish was well cooked, the mussels came in the most divine sauce and the entire meal was incredibly good and well presented. And at R74 including a cuppacino, this was definitely good value for money. I cannot wait to go back.
Matt Cohen
A cozy restaurant nestled in Tokai. Wonderful for a glass of sustainable wine, and a steak. The lovely high ceiling makes for a wonderful atmosphere. While the menu is petit, the choices are varied and all of a high standard.<br/><br/>A lovely outdoor seating area is also available during the Summer months.
Andrew Treu
This is a cozy restaurant with a local feel to it. I tried the duck breast special medium rare on a bed of spinach surrounded by broccoli and potato gnocchi with a gluwein reduction. It was very flavourful and also very filling. My partner tried the beef and gorgonzola spaghetti main. The portion was generous and very tasty. We'll be back!
Thatohlapo
It was such a dissapointment, the food was sooo average. I probably had the worst medium ostrich ever, the dam thing was raw and my friend had the most standard, non appetizing burger ever. I will never go there again. I don't even mind not using my remaining entertainer vouchers, such a waste of a drive.
Shauna Tweedie
This cosy restaurant is such a treat. The food is scrumptious, and so satisfying! A very reasonably priced menu with a great selection of food and wines. I had a fantastic steak and probably the best cheese cake In Cape Town.
Robert Peitzsch
As with many other places, my girlfriend suggested this place based on what friends had told her. It was a cold autumn night made dull with load shedding. The restaurant, however, was magnificent. We were well taken care of and always attended to. The food was delicious, especially the fillet steak paired with a hearty bottle of wine. This also may be one of the best cheesecakes I have tasted in Cape Town, and I have tasted them at a lot of places. I would definitely recommend this and we will be back.

I don't usually leave bad reviews online, but after my experience last night at the Brasserie I felt I would say something.<br/><br/>Our family went to the Brasserie for my mother's birthday on a Saturday evening. During the evening a number of events took place which left us incredibly unhappy with the service. I'd like to detail the points below:<br/><br/>1. When we arrived we were seated right next to the bar, each time a waitron walked past my father was bumped. My father spoke to the manager who said, "What should I do, move the bar?". Appalling.<br/><br/>2. A drink order was cocked up and when the bill came, we were charged for the cock up. Not the end of the world, but still not great.<br/><br/>3. My mother asked for her leftover food as a takeaway, when it didn't arrive she asked the front of house lady who took it away and she was told that she didn't ask for a takeaway. My mother lied? The customer is wrong? Sure.<br/><br/>4. When I spoke to the manager about the altercation with my mother and the front of house lady, he was rude to me, told me there are always two sides to the story and then told me not to raise my voice (which I most certainly did not do). Disgusting.<br/><br/>5. The above was in addition to other small things, like the front of house lady reaching right across my mother to grab a plate and in doing so, putting her armpit over the straw for my mother's drink. This was even after we had offered to pass the plate to her.<br/><br/>6. Three of our party ordered the meat pot special. The meat was of poor quality and tough (and basically just fat grizzle).<br/><br/>I'm an incredibly forgiving person, I'm South African after all, but our experience was absolutely awful. I will never return and I will never recommend the place to any one.

Unfortunately the brasserie ha kind of gone to the dogs. It's over priced and the food is sloppy/inconsistent. Can't really go wrong with the burger, though I'd rather go elsewhere for a burger. The pizza's are terrible. Far more deserving places in the Tokai area of your money, which is a shame, as a ice French style bistro wouldn't go amiss in this area.
Vic Lass
A very pleasant setting and atmosphere. Although the food is of a very good quality, it was not 'special'. We felt we could do the same at home.
Ludi Cronje
Great atmosphere and one of our favourite restaurants in Cape Town. Chef has an exciting menu with fantastic quality food. Super friendly staff who make you feel at home. You won't be disappointed.
Melissa Wynne
A nice nestled restaurant in Tokai with a pub feel and homely food. The service is good and decor reminiscent of a speakeasy. We ordered the burgers one with mushroom sauce, which were deliciously home made and came with hand-cut fries and home made mayo. There are also various craft beers on tap, like Jack Black and CBC. Overall a delicious meal and extremely pleasant experience.
Cape Town Dad
This is a great neighborhood brasserie with a fine wine list and craft beer on tap. Had the ribs, which I absolutely loved. They only charge corkage from the second bottle of wine and then it's only 30 bucks. They also partner with The Entertainer, which makes it an even more affordable quality experience.

Where to take a well-travelled and well-dined lady for lunch to celebrate her 86th birthday? I took a chance and booked at this eatery, sight unseen. What a good choice; the service was good, the food excellent and mother-in-law was happy. I can certainly confirm the other good recommendation to this restaurant. If we lived in the area, it would, no doubt, become a 'regular'. [This is a copy of a review I posted on TripAdvisor]

Been here for works drinks. That was ok. Came for dinner...worst experience ever. Waitress thought everything was funny...including our complaint. Steak was well done, when I asked 3 times to make sure it's rare. Worst berranaise sauce I have ever had (i work in the industry so I kinda know how it should taste) no apologizes from waitress. Only laughter because she somehow thought this was funny. Manager refused to come over to talk after requesting this. Worst service. Worst food. I will never go back and would highly recommend this place only for quick drinks. No dinner,it's a waste of your hard earned money.

Since my first outing to The Brasserie, I have returned for another work function. The staff at The Brasserie made us feel so welcome and really took care of us, rustling up an antipasto platter for us (which not only tasted wonderful but looked magnificent).<br/><br/>But best of all were the desserts - between the three of us, we had vanilla bean ice-cream and lemon sorbet, cheesecake and chocolate terrine; all three were absolutely incredible, and I'm still raving about the cheesecake and terrine WEEKS later! <br/><br/>I would definitely return, even if just for the desserts!<br/><br/><br/>----- 30 Nov, 2013 -----<br/><br/>I joined a few colleagues for after-work drinks at The Brasserie after a particularly hard Monday on the job. The waitrons looked after us so well; even though we didn't eat, it was an experience sitting outside watching the world go by, and it was lovely.
