Review Bistro Sixteen82 - Constantia

A wonderful experience in fine dining and on a luxurious wine estate. Had a lunch reservation , exquisite food all round , excellent service and value for money for the experience. The drinks were decently priced and lots of variety. The meals left one speechless. A 10/10 experience.

The tasting room has a great atmosphere which Is a separate entity to the Bistro. I recommend you make both bookings when visiting. The food is generous and very delicious. The drinks are affordable and always flowing. Didn't understand why the close at 5pm.

The setting is perfect.. vineyard’s, mountain and lovely outdoor patio! Just a few minutes from City or ideally positioned if you’re off to the Cape Peninsula. Food was delicious and well presented. Service was attentive friendly! And of course the wine and bubbles begs for another taste!😀

This was a perfect afternoon lunch with the family in a semi private room upstairs overlooking the mountains and watching the rain. Food was delicious, and as usual I always judge on the availability of Veg options on the menu as well as Kid friend options … our waiter was attentive and the wine selection brilliant. The vetkoek as a heritage day treat was lovely, as well as the face painting. absolutely amazing experience and will come back again when in the Cape.

Wo LOVED this restaurant! Everything was delicious. The oysters were perfectly chilled and divine, They had a good minerality and delectable brininess, and we just couldn't get enough.

Probably one of my favorite restaurants! The food is amazing and not only do they have amazing views especially if you sit outside on a summer day but they also thrive on giving really good service which is a plus. It's definitely a place worth visiting when a person is in Cape Town 😁

Chef Kerry Kilpin absolutely always throws together the most phenomenal dishes with the best flavour combinations ever. I recommend everyone try this place. It's vegan friendly. The vibes are immaculate, the wine is divine.

10/10 on everything, the consistency in the ambience, service from all waiters including management, the surrounding and the food itself makes this place a gem! Definitely worth the drive from Cape Town.

One of the best dining experiences I've had. Service is impeccable and every bite of food burst with flavour. I would visit this bistro continously.

Pleasant ambiance. Yamkela was very helpful. Fast service. We ordered the pork belly paired with a glass of chardonnay and grilled fish plus oysters. We enjoyed our lunch and will be back for more soon.

When the kitchen at the Bistro is closed but the chef agrees to prepare you something to eat, cause you are regular! Day made!

I love the ham wrap! The first bite is amazing. And I have to put in 100 byte to submit my rewiew, enough

3,5 for me. Had an early supper at this place today with the whole family. We really enjoyed the tapas and the vibe was really nice too. Ended off the evening with some lovely deserts. The place was really beautiful and the service was also really good. The setting is stunning. Quite a good experience.

The setting on the Steenberg estate is delightful - beautiful gardens and lovely views. The menu is small but varied, offering something for everyone. And of course the wines are delicious. We had a charcuterie platter and the sirloin and ginger salad. The salad was lovely, sirloin cooked just right and the dressing delicious. The platter was nice but could have been better with the addition some cheese?

The front of house lady was not welcoming at all, a little superior; I found it off putting. The service was slow, not informative and not engaged in the least. It feels like the service is somewhat self important - not focused on the diner’s experience at all.

I would not rush back - there are lots of places in CT with good food, nice settings and much better service.

The tasting room next door looked super festive - engaged servers and happy tasters. I might try that instead and eat elsewhere

So this is my first review on Zomato! This is the first restaurant I’d like to review because overall it was such a wonderful experience! I dined at this restaurant on the 1/09/2018 and I was pleasantly surprised! After a lovely afternoon of wine tasting at Steenberg my partner and I enjoyed the tapas for 2 evening special.

The first course consisted of the soup of the day which if I remember correctly was a corn and leak soup which was to die for!

The next 2 dishes were to share which consisted of pickled fish tacos (served cold) and fish cannelloni & Basil Velouté. The fish tacos were not what I was expecting but were full of flavor. However, I did not enjoy the fish cannelloni. I wasn’t a fan of the texture and the flavor from the basil Velouté.

Finally to end we were served another 2 dishes to share which was chicken wings in a bbq sauce and a beef chickpea tagine. Both dishes were equally enjoyable and we were not hungry at the end of the meal. For a Tapas to share special costing R350 the flavors were delicious and there was enough food to satiate our hunger.

Overall a lovely experience with great service!

This Bistro was everything! The staff were friendly and quite patient with us (we were really struggling to choose from the menu)
The food was delicious. For our mains we had the slow roasted lamb neck and a pulled pork dish with gnocchi. The lamb was slow roasted for about 6 hours and was very tender. The pulled pork was so flavorful! I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in doubt.
Dessert was delicious. We had a granadilla sorbet with shortbread which was average but the eclair with cardamom ice cream and citrus embellishments was a winner. Overall, an amazing culinary experience! And if you’d like to add a cherry on top, there’s also wine tasting🥂

Situated at the foot of the Steenberg mountains it has beautiful views all around. I love that the bistro supports sustainable fishing, being supplied by small scale fishers from surrounding areas. I had the braised lamb neck for lunch. The meat was very tender and the hazelnut jus full of deep flavour. All portions are generously sized.

Spent a great part of my day here and it was worth every minute. Staff was friendly. The wine we tasted was great. The food was delicious and well worth the prices. I’d recommend this place to anyone. ✨

A lovely restaurant when you’re looking to treat yourself. I suggest coming on a very warm day with lots of friends, make sure you book in advance and arrive during the “lunch” time because the menu is expanded during those times. I had the lamb shank, and the taste of the sauce which accompanies it still lingers on my tongue. Their steak is also pretty good and I think the overall dining experience is elevated by the beautiful view. I suggest pairing your food with the wines or doing s wining tasting before you eat, so you can buy a bottle of their wine to enjoy with your meal.

Chef Kerry has a remarkable talent. Her dishes are mindblowing. The West coast mussels are super tasty with a sauce that you can't help but want to drink straight from the bowl. The open steak sandwich is a lovely casual meal and the Beef Fillet is an absolute must. One of the best steak meals I've had. The outdoor patio is gorgeous on a sunny day and the grounds are beautiful to relax and take in the beauty of the Steenberg mountains
The wines are gorgeous. Treat yourself to a wine tasting after lunch after lining your tummy. The Steenberg Merlot and the Lady MCC Brut are really good.
Lesedi Ramonyane
I had only been to Steenberg for a wine tasting so I was thrilled to finally get a chance to try their tapas. The arancini, pork belly and the mussels were some of my highlights. This is a great dinner option for winter because of their tapas special but the location is also perfect for Sunday lunch and sundowners.

I spent a relaxing afternoon having drinks and dessert at this spot, the lemon posset I ordered was well presented and tasted amazing. My virgin mojito was refreshing and I enjoyed the chocolate truffles we ordered too.Service was efficient and friendly, definitely returning for breakfast or a meal next time!
Maritsa Van Der Walt
Food was out of this world! Service is good & quickly, because of bad weather everyone was seated inside with doors closed and that resulted in noise. You struggled to hear the person next to you, but the food is worth it🥂

Amazing food, amazing wine, amazing service 👌 such a stunning location. I have never had an even slightly negative experience here and that is why it is one of my favourites. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or tapas, you cannot go wrong. Wonderful atmosphere.
The place is out of town in Tokai... which isn't here or there (esp for Cape Town) but it's well worth the scenic uber trip 🚕

We arrived to incredible weather ☀️ just right to savor the surrounding vineyards and the well manicured estate... 🍇🍇🍇

The staff were very warm and welcoming upon entering as they directed us to the restaurant past their overhanging glass installation above the tasting room.🎨

Upon getting to our table, we encountered the most professional of waiters we've had in a while. He catered to our table of about ten with ease; He was meticulous with orders 👌🏾, and very helpful in making suggestions for those unsure of what exactly to choose 🤔

I had the pork belly 🐖 (if you've read enough of our reviews you'll know I have a 'thing' for pork-belly😉) and it was tender, moist and well balanced out with sweet corn🌽 and the most delectable sweet potato purée🍠, star anise and ginger jus with fresh finely chopped apple and mange tout salsa🍏

We played a game of whose food was better 👀😁 and unanimously decided that in order, the best dish was the fish of the day under the sustainable fish dish with herbed quinoa, beansprout, red pepper coulis and aubergine mousse 🐟, then the pork belly and finally the beef sirloin with leek and mushroom ragout and black pepper and bourbon jus 🍴🤤

We were with 2 young children, and the restaurant was friendly in that regard and they had ample space on the lawns to run about and enjoy themselves.

Definitely worth a visit if you can... very relaxing atmosphere (as if you're out of town in the winelands but Cape Town city center is really just under half an hour away)

TIP*: ☎️ make a reservation by making them a call... a Sunday is nice day to head out, just before starting the new week, and choose a nice sunny Sunday if possible, bring the camera 📸📱 and enjoy!

I loved my lunch at Steenberg - everything was great, only the desert disappointed

The pluses
1/ really good service - friendly, attentive staff, there when I needed them
2/ excellent food presentation
3/ delicious food and wine - I had the calamari started (delicious sauce), pork belly main (delightful cracking) and the Rattlesnake Sauvignon Blanc (lively)
4/ stop for a wine tasting next door - there’s a gorgeous view of the fountain and kids are running about on the lawn

The minuses
1/ desert was bland - I warmed the bread and butter pudding, which the waitron assured me would be fine. It wasn’t - lacked flavour and the deconstructed presentation didn’t make up for it

This place was one of my best restaurant experiences, good friends, great food, crispy bubbles. Casual, relaxed day that ended off with a purchase of several bottles of wine to take home :)

Delicious breakfasts- Shroom Rosti is my favourite. Peaceful and beautiful setting - a definite must try! Can’t wait to try out their lunches - I will be back 😊

This needs a different rating scale. Meals were beautifully presented, delectable. A feast for the eyes and the palate. Prawn tempura and beef tataki were incredible. The mix of flavours was a unique experience. Beautiful venue and food. Outstanding. Sit outside in the warmer months. Service is exceptional. Unpretentious fine dining at its best.

Gorgeous place. I loved every moment here. The ambiance was so relaxed here, I didn't want to leave! I had the pork belly and my word was it amazing. It was definitely the best pork belly I have ever had and I have had some good pork belly. I also did some wine tasting and they had a pretty wide selection of wines. I am coming back here very soon

One of my favorite restaurants! I’ve been here a few times and it never disappoints. The ambiance of the restaurant is very tranquil and the outside area has such a beautiful view. The food is also absolutely delicious and the waiters are all very friendly.

On this occasion I had the West coast mussels as a starter and the beef fillet as my main. Both I would highly recommend especially the beef as it is cooked to perfection. I also had 2 chocolate truffles for dessert; on a previous occasion I had the sorbet, both desserts are a perfectly small, not too-sweet treat to end off a lovely meal.
Lundi Coetzee
Would definitely recommend - a great suprise!
We had the mussels in a basil white wine veloute and wow it was delicious. It was extremely busy and service was a bit slow. But the food and beautiful setting made up for the wait

Great venue, friendly efficient service. What a shame the food served vegetarians is substandard. This is my second visit and on both occasions my food was poor and expensive. My daughter, also vegetarian couldn't eat hers so we ordered another dish which was no better. Fortunately, those who ate meat and fish were satisfied with their food.

Had the most relaxing Saturday here with my girls. This place is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views. The waiters were friendly and allowed us to move to an outside table when one was available.

The food was beyond my expectations. I had the pork belly and enjoyed every bite if it. After lunch we sat outside and had dessert followed by drinks for the rest of the afternoon. This restaurant is very relaxing, you can also take a walk in the vineyard.

I Absolutely beautiful venue, decor and food! Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here, and spent the whole afternoon sprawled in the sun and taking in the view. The restaurant is set up very well, with an elegant touch to decor and plating.

The food is top notch, with an array of colors and flavors. I don't usually have dessert but chose to treat myself and I wasn't disappointed! Had the pork belly for the main and the almond and salted caramel chocolate torte for dessert.

The waiter wasn't the greatest and we sat a while before our food orders were taken but everything else overshadowed this hiccup. I would suggest booking well in advance (2 weeks) to get a table with an outside view.

I'm still reminiscing of my day and can't wait to go back (seriously considering making this my birthday spot in February)!

**Edit
Had my birthday dinner here on Saturday. Had forgotten that the menu is not always the same throughout the day and it switches to Tapas in the evening. At first was slightly disappointed about this oversight but the food and service gladly made up for this! Had the Tapas for 2 for about R325 which is a great deal for 5 dishes. They were all really delicious, service on point and venue is gorgeous as usual. This place definitely ranks as top for me.

Arrived at this restaurant unbooked on a Saturday. We Were warmly welcomed by the hostess and accommodated to outside seating, as requested. The initial service was slow, but the food made up for it. We both had the open steak sandwiches which were mouth-watering(salivating at the thought). The outside tables are a bit low seating, as warned. But we were met with amazing views. I would have scored this place 5.0 if we were attended to by a more attentive waiter. He didn't introduce himself on our arrival and would only check up on us when we called him. We then moved on to their flagship wine tasting which we both enjoyed. Their wine tasting section is a bit short-staffed so there was quite a delay in flow of wines.

After a lazy Sunday we opted for a quick, early dinner at Bistro 1682. The food and service was great, restaurant was fairly empty, and going for the tapas option with two teenage sons is not cheap, but it was a perfect end to the weekend.

The boys opted for 1) salt & pepper calamari, persillade prawns, and pork manchego 2) soup of the day, beef tataki, and pork belly. My wife went with arancini and beef ponzu roll, whilst I had calamari and white anchovies. The three of them then doubled up with an extra portion of calamari each, before the boys and I had chocolate marquis for dessert.

The calamari is a must, the pork manchego, beef tataki, and pork belly were really good, and the other dishes were all finished without hesitation. However the white anchovies were special - a really good summer option.

Next visit I'd opt for anchovies, calamari, and arancini, but try a different dessert. I'd stick with my carafe of Steenberg Chardonnay.

What a lovely lunch at Bistro Sixteen82! Prompt service, food was out quick but not to quick and the food was delicious! Will definitely try come back here next time we in CT loved it!

I have been here twice, once for a normal lunch and the other for the winter special.

Normal lunch

Food: I ordered the ricotta stuffed lamb neck. It was perfectly cooked and literally melted in my mouth. One of the best main dishes I've had in a while.

Service: The service was as you would expect at a place like this - on point. Attentive staff which never let our wine glasses reach emptiness.

Overall atmosphere: We sat outside on the patio which was awesome. Perfect setting for a summers day lunch.

Winter special

I found the winter special great value for money but was disappointed when comparing it to my initial experience. I found that a bit of quality was lost in the special, however it was still really good. I also can't complain about the desserts, all 3 were world class.

Overall I love this place and regardless of the dip in quality of the special, you know you going to get an outstanding meal every time.

Have previously had breakfast here and was great! But today tried lunch and it was terrible. Had two courses and left the filling of the cannelloni as it wasn't very nice and couldn't stomach the quinoa with my line fish, the fish however was okay. Had an upset stomach afterwards, not the food I expected from a place with a 4.4 rating. The staff were very attentive and it's a beautiful venue, pity about the food :(

Despite this Bistro being oversubscribed and you would expect staff to normally become blasé, the staff at Bistro Sixteen82 were fantastic and service was prompt. I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. Really good menu too with some interesting dishes for breakfast. Thanks everyone @BistroSixteen82!

I treated my wife to lunch on her birthday and boy, am I pleased that I chose this venue. Both the food and service were outstanding but the food is worth a special mention.

We ordered four starters to share between three of us and each was exquisitely presented on a different plate. We chose Beef Tataki, Caesar salad, Patagonian calamari and Tempura prawns. It was hard to choose between these great dishes but the calamari had a truly sublime flavour.

We followed up with pork belly (my son and I) and the special fish dish for the birthday girl. We all loved our food and could tell that it was cooked with love as the chef points out in the preamble to the menu.

So the food is tops, the service is great and the venue is lovely. To top it all off I thought the prices were reasonable for what we got.

Great experience, thanks Bistro 1682 😊

Had an amazing lunch here. All three of my dining party were thrilled with their choices. Amazing service, super attentive with great recommendations. I had the braised lamb neck, stuffed herb ricotta stuffing. The lamb was soft and tender, melted in my mouth. The stuffing didn't do much for me, a little too tight and slightly bland but it didn't ruin the meal at all. Dessert was the dark chocolate marquise, very decadent, with served with a raspberry sorbet, honeycomb and strawberries and it was the perfect ending to the meal, not to sweet. Hop over into the next room to try some of the wines at Steenberg for the perfect Cape Town day outing.

Perfect breakfast!
Great service, peaceful venue, and delicious food.
Eggs Benedict a particular highlight.
Coffee also really good.
Will be back!

We were so warmly welcomed by the hostess. She took us to our table and explained their winter special - two (R185), three (R215) or four-course (R265).

I opted for the three course (cheese balls with plum sauce, mushroom risotto and chocolate cigar) while my friend had two courses (broccoli soup starter and fish main). I added bacon for an additional R20.

The food was all delicious - my risotto could have done without the sour sun dried tomato. It was rich and satisfying - perfect for the winter weather. Both starters were decadent and delicious. My friend absolutely loved the fish. My dessert was perfect with a good mix of flavours and textures and wasn't overly sweet. Portions are very generous. We shared a bottle of their delicious Echo.

We felt happy and satisfied when we left and will certainly be back. We went in the middle of the day on a Tuesday and although fairly busy didn't much of a vibe. I assume this changes over weekends...

Tip: Book in advance if you can and ask for a table with a view.
Nicole Dunn
Unbelievable food, with a menu item for everyone. I felt spoilt for choice and couldn't wait to come back to try other available options. Beautiful setting and great service added to the experience. Don't go there feeling disciplined - the desserts are to die for.

Undoubtedly one of my favourite breakfast spots in the city.

The location is idyllic. There are picturesque views from every angle as soon as drive in through the main entrance.

Shortly after being seated we were presented with a complementary 'honey brioche' which was deliciously sweet and chewy.

I ordered the 'shrooms on rosti' which turned out to be an eclectic mix of flavours; the tomatoes on the outside of the plate provided a tangy contrast to the somewhat blander but still delicious mushrooms on the rosti bed in the middle.

The flat white I ordered was full bodied & rich in flavlour.

The service was up to a high standard – we were well attended to without feeling pestered.

A gem of a restaurant indeed.

I was thoroughly impressed with the service here it made the entire experience pleasurable. I was here with friends and we hadn't made reservations as we were in the wine tasting section , the manager was so accommodating and got us a table. The pork belly was cooked to perfection and the jus complemented it. The meat literally melted in my mouth. I will definitely be returning here!

We had a supprise birthday dinner for my friend at the Bistro, and I can confidently say that this was the best experience I've had on a wine estate restaurant by far. Everything was great, the service , the setting of the restaurant, wines absolutely stunning. The food was amazing we had various tapas which were flavourful and tantalizing. Definitely worth the visit.
Lynda Cooper
Always excellent... Tapas to die for. Try the specials... They're always interesting. Perfectly paired wines and a beautiful setting. They're usually busy so be sure to call ahead to book...

Relaxed atmosphere.Really good service. The dishes we had where beautifully presented. Between my friend and myself the dish of the day was the Curried calamari starter.🍾

What a wonderful relaxing restaurant with a great atmosphere. The restaurant opens out in a beautiful garden and water feature area which is a perfect place to have lunch. The service is also really good and the staff and super friendly and helpful.

We stopped at Steenberg for a light snack and were please with the menu. My mom and I ordered the large mushroom risotto, which was a good portion, to share. The risotto was made so differently and was delicious. It was creamy and full of flavour. My dad and cousin ordered the chicken livers starter portion, which was served on a bed of spaghetti. They also really enjoyed their meal and the flavour.

Definitely recommend Bistro Sixteen82.
Zani Bormann
We love this restaurant. The food is incredible. Kerry created magic with her French and Asian fusions. No restaurant in the country can match this level of perfection. The service is right up there! The waiters are all well trained on what they are serving on the menu as well as the wine list. If you are after magic on a plate then this is the place to try!

Bistro Sixteen82 is by far one of the prettiest restaurants I've ever eaten at! It's also one of the hardest restaurants to get a booking at, which is why I've only ever gone for breakfast.

The breakfasts are as pretty as the restaurant (have you seen the Yoghurt Terrine?!😍). Another thing they do well is bacon - their bistro 1682 bacon is life-changing. Their rosti's, however, can tend to be burnt so maybe order some toast on the side instead.

Bistro Sixteen82 is a must try! Definitely the best way to start off any morning. I can't wait to give their lunch menu a try.
Shamin
This restaurant has breathtaking views and is a great way to start your day or end your day! We had breakfast here and my daughter said she would have preferred to have had lunch instead. Getting a table is difficult so book in advance.
The meals were nicely plated. The poached eggs topped with a well textured and seasoned hollandaise sauce covered burnt rostis. We then ordered toast.
Service was good.
Perhaps the next time we will the tapas .
Fatima Abrahams
Such a beautiful restaurant in an idyllic setting. The service is exceptional and the food is delicious. I ordered the steak roll, the steak was cooked perfectly and served on a delicious roll which was finished off with a delicious creamy garlic sauce. Dessert was perfectly plated, we shared the banana cheese cake which was served with caramel popcorn, peanut ice cream and a macaroon. The flavours and textures were delightful! I highly recommend this spot.

Calamari was very indian / curry flavouring
Bland tasting actual calamari
Very fatty pork belly artier clogging
And boring tasting
Lovely venue
Food below average
Bit disappointed
Very expensive wine
Melanie Du Toit
We stopped in here for lunch yesterday. I can understand all the hype! Their menu is filled with appealing options, giving me anxiety over having order envy when choosing my start and main. I went with their tempura prawn to start and risotto if the day to finish. We paired this with Steenberg's Sauvignon Blanc. Andrew 'Skate' Calothi had their yellowtail tartare and their angelfish mains. The flavours were exceptional and the service was impeccable.
Demetri Philippides
Great service, from the waitress.
Main course, gnocchi very dense not up to standards, one of the Managers told us that he will pass the comment to the kitchen.
Dessert, cheese platter it was served with a small bunch of grapes, green, sour uneatable. when we mention it to the manager the comment and attitude was unacceptable. I believe if you served it in my plate it should be eatable. I do not go out for lunch to argue with people who they do not know how to deal with customers and not know their job.
I took out with my wife to celebrate our anniversary and it was spoiled. Very very disappointed.
The Authentic Girl
After wine tasting at the Steenberg wine farm, it has become a tradition to visit Bistro Sixteen82 for lunch. I always start with the spicy chicken livers, the livers are tender with the right balance of spice. It is served with egg noodles and a sticky Asian inspired sauce. Writing about it makes me want to drive there and place an order.

I've ordered the roasted pork belly which was a treat! Apple, fennel and pork is a marriage made in food heaven. Love this dish!!

The portions are relatively small and the bistro is always full.

Well done to the chefs and to the most amazing manager I have met in a long time. Thank you Natalie Wells for turning breakfast into an experience! She was fast, friendly and clever! She took our orders and got the chefs to present exquisite food! We will be back!

Wine tasting and then a meal in this top class bistro. Some of the wines and the food were just top class. Very enjoyable, beautiful settings, good service and highly recommended.

Great wine and great food. We did a wine tasting that included 6 great wines and then we had had lunch afterwards at bistro sixteen82. Very nice experience and great food

Located on the prestigious Steenberg Estate in Constantia, Sixteen82 is a modern establishment, that boasts spectacular views. We were invited to an impromptu dinner with friends from the UK, and we werent disappointed. We all chose dishes from the Tapas menu, and they were all extremely tasty and well presented. Between us we shared bottles of the Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc along with Baby Patagonian calamari, Pork Croquettes, Polenta fritters, Pork Belly, Beef tataki and I ended off with a banana cheesecake accompanied With caramel popcorn, a peanut butter macaroon and honeycomb. I cannot complain about a single dish, as they all were delicious, the only issue I had was that our tapas arrived at different times(even though they were ordered together) which left half of us eating and the other half looking.
Justin Andrew Dingwall
Went to Bistro Sixteen82 for a business lunch and I was not disappointed!

The food was fresh, tasty and beautiful to look at and the sparkling wine was heavenly.

I will definitely be heading back to try the breakfast!

Came here for breakfast one rainy day with some friends. I ordered the eggs benedict and can highly recommend it. All aspects, from the perfectly poached eggs to the impeccable hollandaise were great.
Fantastic service and a wonderful view. Definitely need to make a plan to come back here for lunch or dinner.

Really great breakfast in a modern, simple and elegant setting on an impressive estate surrounded by great gardens, a beautiful water feature and lovely decor. Definitely worth visiting for a superbly made breakfast for that social occasion. Food choices are a mix unique takes on old favourites and some great new dishes that we've never tried before. Highly recommended!

One of its own kind aaand fine eatery at its best! I absolutely enjoyed the food, great quality ingredients (our waitress told me that they make their own cannelloni😭😭😭) wow, it's amazing!! By far the best restaurant I've been to this year, no doubt. I think I dream about that cannelloni stuffed with blue cheese & kudu at least twice a week☹️️💕💕💕💫✨
Mosa Mashati
AMAZING. i had the pork belly and my friend had the kudu cannelloni which she also enjoyed.
(Also, I went for wine tasting before the dinner and their bubbly was alright , only the sparkling Chardonnay stood out. We were outside during the tasting and they were about to close but didn't pester us on finishing our drinks because the outside area stays open. I would definitely go back for the wine tasting!!!)
The setting was very great at the bistro and service was just as great. I actually just asked a friend what she didn't like about this experience :') and she said there was nothing not to like (lol P.S she's a culinary arts student )
Rouxann
Beautiful setting. Strongly recommend oysters with Billecart Salmon champagne as starter. Ricotta Gnocchi for main. Will go back. SA Steenberg Nebbiolo very good.
Chiara Louis
Haven't been to this restaurant for a number of years, but thoroughly enjoyed my most recent visit. It was the most beautiful Sunday, albeit a bit windy (the waiters were however kindly handing out blankets). My family and I shared the antipasti platter, which was satisfying, although nothing to rave about. I then had the curry-fried calamari with avo and babaganoush, which was delicious and a new take on an old favourite. Of the other dishes had, the tuna tartare looked delicious. Overall, a beautiful setting, enjoyable food, and good service.
The Foodie Corner
Bistro Sixteen82 has been on my list of must-visit places for ages now, and yesterday I finally had the opportunity to go and experience their delicious tapas, their beautiful scenery and tranquil surrounds for myself.

The Steenberg estate is really a beautiful place - lush lawns and a massive fountain provides the perfect place to enjoy a delicious breakfast on a summer's morning or treat yourself to some tapas while the kids play on the grass. You also have the opportunity to do some wine tasting, or perhaps unwind in the lounge for a bit before dinner.

Whatever your reason for visiting this estate, you can't go wrong with choosing to enjoy their tapas. These change daily, and the selection for the day gets written on black boards placed all around the dining area. They have something for everyone - soups and breads, meats, fish and some delicious desserts. Until the end of September, they have a special running where you get 5 tapas (selected by the chef for that day) and only pay R280. We opted to make use of the special and also order 2 extra tapas in addition to the 5 listed on the menu for the afternoon.

We started with tomato soup and a duo of bruschetta. Along with these "starters", we also got the two extras we ordered - the calamari and the arancini risotto balls. My favorite was the risotto balls - little pockets of goodness, filled with cheesy risotto and served in a deliciously thick dipping sauce. Heaven on a plate! The calamari was quite spicy and had just the perfect balance between crispiness and tenderness. The soup was presented to us in little coffee cups (which I almost mistakenly drank like coffee a few times). A very thoughtful way to present a "mini soup". It was tasty, but personally I would've preferred it to be a but thicker. The bruschetta was average - good, but I don't think I would order it on its own if it was not on the preset tapas menu.

The remaining 3 dishes were served to us as our "second course". I like the idea that they break the meal up into separate "courses", because it forces you to eat slower and enjoy the food and company more than if you just got served everything and you either eat everything and stop the conversation, or keep talking and let the food become cold. They brought us wontons, an artichoke and chorizo salad, and an Asian-style duck salad. The wontons were delicious - crispy pastry, fresh filling and served on a bed of what looked like some sort of cabbage salad. Whatever it was, it worked very well with the wontons! I wasn't too impressed with the artichoke and chorizo salad - I don't think the combination worked too well, with the spiciness of the chorizo being a bit too overpowering for the delicate artichoke. However, the duck salad was a winner (after the arancini, probably my second favorite dish of the night). The duck was cooked to perfection, being very tender and juicy. The sauce worked beautifully with the meat, and the addition of crispy onions on top added a wonderful texture. Overall, a dish with a lot of depth.

We were quite full, but wanted to end the evening with a light, refreshing dessert. I'm not a huge fan of lemon, especially in desserts. But my friend suggested we share the lemon posset. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical... And considered changing my order a few times. But when the dish arrived and I had my first taste, I think I instantly declared a lemon posset to be one of my favorite desserts! Wow! What a wonderful way to end such a delicious night! The dessert was tangy, but not overpowered by the lemon. I loved the guava sorbet and the berry compote that it was covered with. And the addition of the shortbread biscuit added just that little bit of crunch to the dish. A solid 5/5!

Overall, a very enjoyable evening! I think they're a bit overpriced for the portion size you get. And the service is a bit slow. But other than that, a perfect place to come and enjoy some tapas and unwind. I'll definitely be back to sample their lunchtime menu and perhaps even their notorious breakfast. Can't wait to return!

What a treat! I went with colleagues on a work trip to this gem and it was a really lovely evening. The tapas are fantastic as is the wine and service- my only critique is the lighting, it is very brightly lit and could be dimmed slightly for ambiance purposes. Nonetheless a highly recommended treat!

Attracted by the winter lunch special.
4 course R235
So we had peppered chicken livers, jalapeño poppers, kudu and ricotta cannelloni, pumpkin risotto. Truly magnificent flavored and tastes. The portions were not mini sized either. A vegetarian option was available as well and my friends oh'd and ah'd about the cauliflower soup. Dessert was cheesecake which was 9/10
We had a Steenberg MCC 2014.
Great value for money and more importantly food of top quality.
Setting is simply stunning.
Really enjoyed our lunch.
On the fence with this one. Went for lunch and it was pretty empty. Service was for lack of a better word - lazy. Waitress kept getting things wrong. Ordered a grapetizer and i got an appletizer. Asked for a knife and i got a spoon. Yep. Food was only okay. Resident pig was more interesting 🙃

Spoil yourself and go to here for lunch! Tranquil, classy and indulgent offering world class cuisine in a stunning setting. Platters are beautifully presented, delicious and perfectly adequate. Service is great and the wine is outstanding... !!
Not cheap though😄

Excellent breakfast! A little on the expensive side relative to the portion size but uber tasty. And great to see some variation from the usual suspects on a breakfast menu. The shrooms on toast where delicious. Don't be put off by the Gorgonzola sauce, it is subtle and creamy. Yum!! Definitely will be back to try some of the other options on offer.

Steenberg has always been on my bucket list, unlike the drive out to Franschhoek or Stellenbosch, this beauty is nestled close to the city. Firstly the grounds are lovely-views for days, two restaurants and a wine shop. My favourite choice is definitely the tapas menu from Bistro Sixteen82. We had a selection to share- the polenta frites were absolutely delicious, the gambas (prawns in a tom yum cream) was flavourful and exotic, and the arancini was melt in your mouth fantastic! We had the Steenberg bubbly to go with our food (delicious!). The all round friendly and helpful staff make this gem of a restaurant a must go to place! I'll definitely return many times more.

What an exceptionally beautiful inner city estate Steenberg is! Boasting 2 restaurants, a winery & spa.
Today we chose Bistro Sixteen82. The historic vineyards have produced a wide selection of award winning wines. My favourite today being the young cabernet sauvignon.

So lovely to sit on the patio surrounded by cork trees, fever trees, immaculately manicured lawns and the sound of trickling water in the fish ponds.

Their panko encusted prawns, calamari and oysters are particularly good; but for a long languishing wine tasting afternoon, I suggest the cheese board.

Before going to Bistro Sixteen82, we were completely unaware that it was on a wine farm! Seeing pictures of it during the day made me wish we had gone for lunch as the view and surroundings looked heavenly! Nevertheless, the restaurant itself is really beautiful inside, modern, yet homely, which is hard to master. We were there at a time when they were running a winter special - 5 tapas dishes to share for R280! It was outstanding value for money, we were absolutely stuffed afterwards and the food was delicious. My favourite dish was the salmon cannelloni! A definite must eat at place, but go a bit earlier and have a cocktail outside while looking over the beauty of Constanta before!

Fantastic place for sundowners and tapas. Their tapas menu is quite diverse and offers a wide variety of starter type platters.
Had the Risotto fritters, Calamari and cheese board. All superb. Wish we had space for more before heading out for dinner.
Highly recommended!

My favorite breakfast spot in Cape Town. The service is fantastic and the is even food even better. Perfect Eggs Benedict with the estates on bubbly.
Talia Lee Cohen
Been here a few times and goshhhh I never know what to eat because everything is so good and I need to try their desserts! The marshmallow dish they used to have was my favourite! But I love how the ongoing seasonal changes! The fish and meats are always cooked perfectly and the wine suggestions are always spot-on!

A great atmosphere to go just for the tasting too! Especially in the summer where it's fountains overlook the golf course 🌱

So a little froggy was telling about Zomato today while we shared a good ol' catchup session over lunch... & I don't know how I've missed this boat for so long to be very honest!!

Our chats were frequently interrupted by random mid-sentence pauses to simply appreciate the deliciousness happening in our mouths!

It goes without saying that I would definitely recommend Bistro Sixteen82 for a modern yet sophisticated dining experience!
•Service 9/10
•Food 9/10
•Wine 8/10
•Cost > not a budget date but definitely well worth it- we racked up a R500 bill between the 2 of us!

My favourite was the Tempura Prawns & Steenberg Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc ***
Teresa De Gouveia Farinha
Very good. Great atmosphere and good service.
Menu limited and pity the wine tasting has to be done next door. Also the Tapas only from 5pm Sunday onwards so we had to have the lunch option.
Food was quite good.
Sandra Lehmann
As all wine farms in the cape this place has great surroundings and the woody, natural decor that I like. The food menu was limited but good. It struck me though that the wine was double the price compared to buying the wine from the estate directly - but it seems the restaurant is a separately run section. Nonetheless, a good place to visit.

I celebrated my 25th birthday at Bistro Sixteen82... The place, view, food and service was absolutely excellent. I had such a fantastic time there. I would definitely recommend for anyone. Thank you Bistro Sixteen82 for your professional service. I will be coming around soon again!
Tracer
Breakfast was ok, but at 12 they said we had to move - plenty of shade available but not allowed to sit there. Its a rare misstep, and I'm confused by their arrogance and inflexibility towards clients. Not the Bistro I have recommended to guests of Cape Town in the past.

For a great experience visit Bistro Sixteen82 situated in the Steenberg Estate . The Parma Ham Scram Wrap is defintely a must , and a burst of flavour in your mouth.
Fried Onion
We opted for the late afternoon tapas with a glass of their excellent Steenberg Sauvignon. The quality was mixed: outstanding pork belly and tasty calamari, but the bacon and jalapeño spring rolls were tough and dry. The service was friendly but slow.
Lekha Amod
We really enjoyed everything about this bistro. The space is well designed to have a beautiful open feel and yet very comfortable temperature and sun wise. Service was very professional with well-informed, unobtrusive staff.
Our table of five enjoyed all our meals – oysters, tempura prawns, pork belly and steak.
Other items on the menu were very inviting too. Worth a visit.

Magnificent surroundings complemented by perfectly cooked and presented "Mushrooms" Benedict breakfast. All the boxes ticked: Freshly squeezed juice, perfectly chilled MCC, amazing hollandaise sauce. Classy place! Next time it's lunch...
Jade Hill
Could not fault this restaurant on anything. Service was impeccable and good was out of this world . Recommend the risotto, it was so delicious . Pics are of my starter (the cheese fritters, which was amazing) my desert and pre desert lol

This is a very popular spot with a lovely view on the Steenberg Wine Estate and it's best to reserve a table two or three days ahead. We had lunch here on a busy Tuesday during the holiday peak. After a small service hiccup at the beginning, we had a very nice meal that was beautifully presented. I had the angelfish with chickpeas that had a lovely mild spicy curry flavour to it followed by a dessert of berries and ice cream on a meringue bed. It was a glorious meal.

One of my go-to places when I want to treat a special friend or our management team for breakfast. Last week was no different when I made a breakfast reservation for two.
Reservations are super slick and management has embraced technology to confirm bookings either by SMS or email.

My friend usually does not frequent these "posh places" but really enjoyed the not-so-stuffy environment and in his words he could just have 6 of those complementary delightful brioche buns and he'll leave their quite happy.

We started off with good cappuccinos and a jug of orange juice (much more economical)...they also do a refreshing cranberry one too. I had the mushroom Benedict and friend had the eggs Benedict...both divine especially the hollandaise sauce with just the right amount of acidity. I"'ll recommend this place anyday and the prices are not extravagant given the sublime surroundings.
Megan João (Jacobs)
Such a beautiful place! Was there for breakfast this morning. The only reason I'm reading this place a 4 was that the hostess wasn't very friendly and we had a few seating issues even though we had booked in advance.. but otherwise amazing! The eggs benedict was great. Best hollandaise sauce I've tasted! And the rosti with mushrooms and truffle cream sauce treated pretty good too! The service from the waiter was friendly and efficient! Then just next door we did a tasting of the sparkling wine&MCC collection which was delicious! Took a walk around afterwards, which was stunning! Definitely a great spot to treat yourself and/or a friend with a delicious brekkie.. oh and the complimentary honey buns are really as good as the hype makes them sound :D

We were privileged to be invited to a breakfast celebration at the revamped Bistro. The service is always good with a steady supply of bubbly and orange juice! The eggs Benedict were very popular and most of the people at our table had this dish. It was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of sauce and pork belly. Michele had the egg and salmon wrap which is a generous portion, well presented and very tasty. Overall a pleasant breakfast with great company.
Nic Hern
As always Bistro Sixteen82 exceeded expectations! Wonderful service, wonderful location and the Eggs Benedict were a treat!👍🏻 I would definitely recommend it for both breakfast and dinner! The spa is always exquisite, even despite a discrepancy in booking🙌🏻

This is just a grand place to have a leisurely breakfast. The service is good and you can stop at the tasting room afterwards to try their delicious bubbles. They do their own bacon - a generous hunk of smoked pork belly - have some and let us know what you think. I had the eggs benedict. I asked for medium eggs but they came well done and I imagine they were violently boiled instead of gently poached. At least that's what the texture told me. Oops. A bit too much acid in the hollandaise (perfect consistency though) and definitely too much salt in the bread. I would totally return just because it's a nice spot and hope that they learn to poach an egg before then.

Really amazing food! This is possibly the first 5 rating I have given on zomato and it is well deserved. The food is so fresh and tasty, the venue is also quite something to look at. Best to go there on a warm and sunny day. We also did a champagne tasting after our meal which was also nice. Definitely keen to go for our next visit👌🏽

Had a fantastic lunch yesterday. Tempura prawns for starters were awesome, great balance in flavors. For mains I had the sustainable fish, which was angel fish on Saturday. Enjoyed it immensely, well presented and tasty. Also at our table the pork belly and apply mash, as well as the open steak sandwich was ordered. Thumbs up from everyone! For dessert I had the baked strawberry cheesecake, which was amazing! Will definitely return to bistro 1682!

We recently spent a beautiful summer’s afternoon at the newly revamped Bistro Sixteen82 and it was absolutely perfect. Located at Steenberg Farm and named after the year the farm was established, Bistro Sixteen82 has fast become a foodie-bucket-list spot in Cape Town. How beautiful is this!. First of all, the space is beautiful, with trendy fittings and pops of colour throughout. The atmosphere is sophisticated and relaxed all at once, with comfortable seating inside and outside. We visited on a gorgeous spring day and the restaurant was packed with families and friends enjoying the warm weather and stunning setting. We quickly grabbed a table outside and settled in for a lazy afternoon of incredible wine, food and views.

Brilliant setting, great food... was an excellent choice to break some good news to the family. Thus far my most wonderful experience in my food travels. Would recommend it to anyone. Top class!!

I have heard so much about Bistro Sixteen82 and I was super excited to try out their tapas menu but unfortunately they only serve that from 5pm onwards. The atmosphere was good and our waiter was friendly and helpful. I ordered the sirloin beef salad and the vinaigrette gave it such a pop. The lamb neck which was cooked for 48 hours was so tender and delicious. Obviously they have great wine and you can pop next door for a wine tasting of the Steenberg wines. I guess I will have to be back to try out their tapas menu.
Shivana Moethilalh
Deserves a 5. Could not fault anything. The service outstanding, the food was delicious and the place was beautiful. The views are breathtaking.
Fumi Mashele
Amazing food - great service. Only bad thing was we weren't allowed to sit outside and the scenery and views of the vineyards would have been great but overall an amazing experience.
Meg Maccallum
A truly wonderful experience. My parents and I visited Sixteen82 on a warm Saturday afternoon and were treated to impeccable, speedy service, a diverse menu that kept all the tummies at the table happy and a lovely wine & drinks selection. Our table enjoyed two steak salads, the steak was perfect and the sweet Balsamic dressing that topped it was the highlight. We also enjoyed a bottle of the MCC Brut Pinot Noir - a crisp, refreshing bubbly on such a hot day. We will most definitely be back!
Tegan Smith
A gorgeous setting with friendly staff. Well priced breakfasts which are beautifully presented and delicious! I highly recommend their Eggs Benedict as well as their Mushrooms served on a rosti with a mouth watering truffle cream drizzled ontop.

Leila Eshraghi
We arrived at Bistro Sixteen82 for a light meal around 4:30pm. We were greeted warmly and shown to a table outside where a beautiful water feature surrounded us. Our waiter was helpful and was very willing to explain the different types of tapas on the five o'clock menu. We ordered the Angelfish Wontons, Gambas: Chilli Garlic, Moroccan Chickpea Ragout, Crispy Patagonian, and a Cheese Board to share between four people. Our meals took less than 15 minutes to arrive and were well prepared. We enjoyed our meals and would definitely recommend Bistro Sixteen82 to anyone who would like to be in a relaxed and chilled environment. Great service and fantastic vibe.
Leila Eshraghi
Nice relaxed atmosphere. The cheese platter was lovely. The greenery and view are rejuvenating. Friendly people. A good afternoon spot for chilling and taking it easy.

A couple of nights ago, I was treated to one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Having visited Steenberg's other restaurant, Catharina's, before, I knew that Bistro Sixteen82 would be something special!

Extremely popular as a lunch time destination, Bistro Sixteen82 boasts one of the prettiest patios in the Mother City. Catching the last rays of sunshine for the day, we had a peak outside before grabbing our seats inside this stunning restaurant. Walls covered with bottles of their beautiful wines and a ceiling draped in perfectly intertwined wooden branches, I was so excited for the best part of the night to arrive, the food!

Evenings are all about tapas (my favourite) which means you order a bunch of things and share whatever is on the table. We ordered the pork belly, courgette and Gruyere fritters, three cheese fritters, jalapeño and bacon spring rolls, and the sticky chicken wings, and everything was perfection!

A particular favourite for the night had to be the courgette and Gruyere fritters served with roasted vine tomatoes. Firstly, I am not a tomato fan but those vine tomatoes were incredible! They were basically little balls of fresh Italian tomato pasta sauce and couldn't have been paired better with the fritters. These were so good that Cameron James Preston ordered another helping!

To end off a beautiful evening, we ordered the salted shortbread served with popcorn ice-cream and the cheesecake with yoghurt sorbet. Oh my goodness! Bring me a couple more plates and I'm sorted for the night. Also, the little dollops of soft meringue and sour cherries added the perfect sweet finish!

Topping off the incredible food was the flawless service! At one point our waitress apologized that the tapas were going to take a bit longer than usual. Well, they were on our table in a matter of 10 minutes so I can't imagine what it's usually like! Everyone was friendly and attentive, and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a special evening filled with delicious, impeccable food.

Sorry Bistro82, you didn't live up to your standard I must say... I have been to Bistro 3 times, 1 x breakfast (no big deal on food, but tasty, nice view, and chill) 1 x wine tasting (good wine, and the waiters have good knowledge of the wine, although the service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry, and it was over the festive season) 1 x dinner (service was good, nice charming waiter, but the selection of tapas were quite limited, and nothing really special... very disappointed, oh but food taste good)

Generally I think I had a higher expectation, and that's why a low score...
MyCityByNight.co.za
Bistro 1682 is the original tapas awesome in the heart of Constantia.

There is a reason it's still going strong... Great tapas, great atmosphere, great wine and a all round great place!

Tapas aren't that cheap but they are superb and paired with some of Steenberg's fantastic wine or sparkling wine, you will leave with a massive smile and a return journey sooner than you think.
Nicky
We took a drive out to Steenberg wine estate this morning for a family breakfast.

To start with, I had a mix of fresh cranberry and apple juice. The waiter then brought us some warm and delicious honey bread. For breakfast I had the Eggs Royale which is perfectly soft poached eggs served on a bed of salmon and spinach, with a hollandaise sauce drizzled over the top. It was really tasty and I'd like to go back to try the other options on the menu 😊

The setting is beautiful. Unfortunately it was overcast and raining this morning so I'll definately have to go back to sit outside and enjoy the scenery even more.
Jessica Stromin
A stunning spot. Pricey, but a nice treat for a special occasion or a spoil! We went with friends on a lovely Summer's day. The service was great, and the food was excellent - we all had the Pepper Fillet special. Tip: Make sure to do some wine tasting next door before/after your meal for a perfect afternoon!
MJ
Stunning building and interior (see my pic). Try get a table on the patio, water fountains surrounding you. Ate "Sustainable Fish" main, really delicious. Great place for summer Sunday lunch.
Magda Oosthuysen
I have always loved Steenberg's 1682 sparkling wine, and went here for the first time about a year ago. It was so good we decided to go again for lunch. What an amazing restaurant, set in the beautiful Steenberg estate. The restaurant is in a stunning setting and it's equally beautiful to sit in or outside. We had the Fillet with porcini mushrooms and the Sustainable fish which was Angel fish. The dishes were both outstanding. Will without any doubt be back.
Wellness In The City
The perfect spot to book for a special occasion! Beautiful modern interior, set on a picturesque wine farm with views of the mountain! Breakfast is amazing, beautifully presented and priced fairly well. Their lunch menu is great with a variety of fish and meat options. The setting is really impressive - so even if you don't sit down for a meal, lap up the views over a couple glasses of wine!
Jevani Pillay
What a treat this place turned out to be! We stumbled upon it on our wine tasting adventure. They provided us with a beautiful picnic on their lawns where we also tasted wine. What a different and extraordinary wine tasting experience. Staff was friendly and generous with the tasting. Highly recommend Steenburg.
Leah Feiger
Love this place. I keep coming back for both the tapas and lunch menus. My favorite on the lunch menu is the tempura prawn starter, and the catch of the day is always fantastic. Their flavors are just so inventive and tasty! It's great to come out here with a group of girlfriends for a saturday lunch - such a beautiful area, and when it's warm outside there is truly nothing like sitting on the patio.

The pros: Tasty food and good service. Beautifully decorated space.

The cons: Must make a reservation, especially in the busy summer months. Don't get their cheese plate - it's very small and not that enjoyable.

Always happy to return here.
Sarah Mason
A group of us went in the evening and got a lovely table by the fire. This restaurant has a cosy ambiance which is perfect for winter. We shared the winter tapas menu which has quite a variety and vegetarian options. The food and wine are both superb and I would definitely recommend a visit!

I'm Italian and I'm going to stay in Cape Town for 6 month...after 10 days..I discovered a treasure of bistrot. Amazing view, nice food and fantastic place...not expensive too!!
Nicky
Very elegant. Absolute treat of a setting. Service is great and wine is heavenly. Food is also great but not much variety for vegetarians. Fantastic place to go wine tasting.
Dirk Van Zijl
I very often take a drive out to have breakfast in Tokia. Bistro Sixteen 82 is definitely my spot here. Its a lovely modern venue. In summer definitely the alfresco experience that i love most. The quality of the food is great and always a feast for the eyes too.
Kos Gangster
Simply fantastic eggs benedict breakfast.. With some of the Best home smoked bacon on the block. i was not left disappointed. I will have to return to sample more of the menu.
Robert Peitzsch
We went here for my girlfriend's birthday and it was generally quite nice. The food was tasty and the setting quite serene. The random art sculptures in the garden are a little weird though and sort of detract from the whole air of the place. We did find it to be a little overpriced and in comparison to Catharina's, the other restaurant at Steenberg, it just didn't compare.
Cape Town Foodies
Last week I ran the most beautiful trail run at Steenberg wine farm that ended at the wine tasting room and Bistro. Some of our group chose to eat a delicious breakfast and I was most intrigued by the honey dripping fresh bread rolls, delish. Perfect setting on a perfect day.
Mariza Maz Halliday
The food is so delicious and the tapas menu never disappoints. They always run great specials and it might be worth your while to order a couple of starters instead of one main meal. They have an incredible selection of wine and lovely wine tastings available. Your life is not complete until you have tried their Cheese Fritters and the Wild Mushroom Risotto! Beautiful setting and a lovely atmosphere.
Phoebe Kondylis
One of my favourite spots for a Sunday lunch or evening tapas. The setting is beautiful and their wines are amazing. The tapas is great for a group of friends but be sure to book in advance as they are usually fully booked.
Angus
Frankly I was a bit disappointed with this restaurant. Firstly, instead of looking out onto the magnificent Steenberg vineyards , you look into a bland sculptured grass lawn- that seems a wasted opportunity. The menu is interesting but the portions of some items are incredibly small. The food is tasty-some dishes are delicious-but I think it is over priced in comparison to other similar venues. Service was mediocre which is not what you would expect from an establishment of this calibre. Often a good way to judge your meal is whether you would rush back- unfortunately I wouldn't.
Liezel Malherbe
Wonderful experience in a beautiful setting. The wine is lovely, particularly the Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc. All the food was beautifully prepared and carefully constructed. The mushroom risotto was delicious, as was the mussels which is made with a Thai curry style sauce. I also loved the lamb loin for a hearty winter dish, and the angel fish main with salad as a lighter option. And finally, try the bread and butter pudding for dessert - so good.
Martin Evans
Had a lovely meal here. Started off with just a few platters during lunch and kept adding to the meal with a variety of dishes. All of them felt unique and tasty.

Considering how close this is to home and town. I think I just found my new favourite wine farm.

lest we not forget the wine.
The merlot is superb. Loved it.
Conrad Jonck
Had an amazing breakfast experience. Service was exceptional and the food beautifully presented and tastefully prepared. The location is worth the drive. I will definitely go there again.
Nolan Van Rooy
Must be my favorite estate in Cape Town. Food is impeccable, bubbly even better enjoyed with friends, both old and new! We go there every year when down for the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
Claire
Absolutely loved this restaurant! The wine is spectacular and made the meal - although the food was also delicious. The venue is absolutely beautiful - especially if you visit on a warm day and sit outside. I went for an early lunch and ended up staying late into the afternoon. Highly recommended.
Izak Redelinghuys
We had brunch here for a friends birthday and it was a really great experience. We had the reinvention of what they call egg Benedict. It's was amazing - perfectly soft poached eggs set on a crispy rösti topped with a beautiful hollandaise sauce. The show stopper was what they call bistro 1682 bacon which is more like a serving of pork belly. The positions were unfortunately just too small. Service was attentive and their range of bubbles were the great accompaniment to celebrate this birthday!
Alwiena Van Veen
Went here for our wedding anniversary and was very impressed. The food was interesting and delicious and the service impeccable. Beautiful setting completes the picture.
Paul W Harding
Excellent food and very god service prompt and efficient even though the restaurant was full we did not wait for our food. It was very good
I've been wanting to go to Bistro for a while now and I'm so glad I finally did! Although the portions were small, my lamb loin was absolutely delicious. And it was a lovely warm day, perfect for enjoying the setting.
Nici Martin
I was first introduced to Bistro 1682 about 2 years ago. This was when they still had the churro's on the menu with the most amazing chocolate sauce (PLEASE bring those back!).I have been watching closely as the new Chef Kerry has taken over (from Brad Ball) as of 3rd November, and thus hauled my bridesmaids there with me on Monday 24th November.Drinks:Nothing much to say here, the Steenberg Chardonnay MCC goes down far too quickly! A must have every time we visit. The price is just a bit steep though considering you can buy a bottle for a third of the price a mere 3m's away... Maybe something to look into?Food:My one friend was very disappointed about the Beef tataki being taken off the 'Plate's' menu, but it is still on the lunch menu. For four woman we certainly did consume enough for a small army.. So here goes!Sticky Asian pork - sauce was scrumptious, pork belly was not as tender as usual. My Mom makes a killer roasted pork Belly so I always compare other restaurants to her!. This time Mom won!Cheese Fritter - absolutely to die for. A cheese lovers dream! Very rich but the stripe of beetroot helps simmer down the intensity of the cheesy flavours.Arancini - We devoured them so fast I did not manage to get a picture of them. Rice was rather al dente, but I like it that way. You will get a nice hit of tomato with this dish. Gambas Pil Pil - For the chili lovers. The white wine flavour was quite strong, but that is the way it is meant to be. The prawns were cooked beautifully. The beef sliders - what a let down... I have a thing about sinew and gristle in my beef burger patties, and for such a tiny patty it sure was full of it. The bread rolls used were also slightly stale, or they were possibly left under the pass too long which dried them out. Either way we didn't enjoy them. The patata's brava's - these were 'inhaled'. The dipping sauce was delicious and the potato's were nice and crispy. Yum!For dessert we braved the chocolate profiteroles, which unfortunately seemed at least a day old.. They were slightly crisp on the outside (which is good) but completely dried out and stale on the inside. The chocolate sauce used on top of them was not enjoyed by us, but the meringue icing on the bottom of the plate was the saving grace for this dish. The chocolate truffles were rock hard. We understand keeping them in the fridge because of the heat, but surely they should not be served rock hard? Not in my experience at least. Maybe it is down to personal preference, but we didn't enjoy them. Again, the chocolate used did not seem up to Bistro's standard. The cheese platter was enjoyed by all, especially seeing as though the other desserts were not really edible...Service:Service was impeccable. I know of a few restaurants that could take a leaf out of their book!Overall we will be back in a few months time when Kerry and her new team have found their feet. Some of the food elements really let them down. We really do wish her and the team the best, but things like the poor quality of the meat in the beef sliders should never happen at a restaurant of their standard. Hopefully my next review will be of a higher rating!
Tarryn Bento
Bistro Sixteen82 is great in terms of ambiance and the staff. Most of the food was very good, but the mini sliders were pretty rare inside, and the 'toasted cheese sandwiches' were a little light on the cheese side of things! The dessert was also teeeeeny! It almost felt a little like BS82 was more about the image, and less about the substance, but it is a very glam establishment if you're looking to impress.

The outside area looks like it would be wonderful on a warm summer's day!
Lisa Otto
Was brought here by friends for a Sunday breakfast and had the bacon and avo on toast with eggs on the side - very yummy and great ambience although a little quiet. The outside section is perfect for soaking up summer sunshine.

This is an excellent restaurant in a beautiful setting. Very relaxing, outstanding food & excellent service. Rather on the pricey side but well worth it.

Unfortunately I was disappointed by this restaurant. I made a booking, but when I got to the venue, realised I had mistakenly made it for the following week. However there were a tables places open, but we were placed closest to the kitchen and furthest from the "nice" tables outside, while there were at least two table consistently open throughout our lunch. We were never given the option to move when other tables finished. From the moment we entered, we were treated as "below" other customers. The waitress barely visited out table. When the table was unstable my dinner guest had to get on her knees to fix it herself. We were not told the specials in time, and by time we asked, the specials were sold out. The food was really good, but we experienced the service as pretentious and looking down upon guests that didn't fit the profile. Not a place a would visit or spend money in future. This Bistro could learn a thing or two from their wine-tasting neighbours or from Catharina's up the road.

A beautiful restaurant, set close enough to Cape Town, to be easily accessible but still feels like it's out in the country.

The food is fantastic with a French feel. Absolutely great service with a wide choice of items on the menu.

The only issue I found, was the bathroom. It was exceptionally dirty and this is a rather big put off.

Where do I start? One of my favourite indulgent breakfast spots in Cape Town. From the phenomenal orange juice to the honey breads or the amazing eggs. I highly recommend it,

Service was atrocious. Food was exceptionally average. Service was below average. Pity after having heard positive reviews.
