Review Foxcroft - Constantia

Laruchelle Bekker
Foxcroft remains a firm favourite. All the dishes are unique and provide a flavourful adventure. The dessert has always been a little bit of a let down, sometimes keeping it simple for the final dish would be recommended. The food does come super fast and we had to ask our waiter to slow down the meals, as we haven’t even opened wine yet and both the amusement bouche and starters had been served. Still recommend it!

Absolutely wonderful experience. We did the 4 course menu with wine pairing and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and surprising, the local wines delicious and our waiter Jarrod was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend - and come back in a future opportunity.

Had a wonderful date night at Foxcroft. The food was exceptionally prepared. Each dish was unique and sumptuous. Enjoyable experience, looking forward to trying all the restaurants in the group!

Wonderful experience and a culinary delight. Really a wonderful experience with fantastoc combinations of tastes and flavours. The service is very professional and explain everything in detail, also came back with answers to any questions we had. Can truly say it was a great suprise and one of the nicest experiences had. Enjoyed the reduced menu but still more than enough food to experience the taste and not be over full.

An incredible food selection, the 4 course menu with wine tasting was matched to perfection and the flavors was mad. The best dessert I’ve ever had, and the risotto probably top 3 too. WOW!!
Susann Hansen
A fantastic lunch with four courses of their vegetarian menu with the wine package. Top delivery in every dish. A huge respect for the chef. This is good! Very good!
Jake Miller
The very best tasting and wine pairing menu I’ve ever had. The whole experience was outstanding. The waiter, the chefs and the food were out of this world. Thank you for an incredible and memorable experience.

Lovely experience at the Foxcroft. 4 course wine pairing set menu. The bread and butter served at the start of the meal is a sensorial experience. The mushroom / Palomino pairing was intriguing but the risotto / Kottabos duo was a delightful match made in heaven. I am not a fan of lamb but I have to say this course left lost for words. Another great dish which I’d have had paired with a different wine though - a matter of personal preference. The desert was delicate combination of flavours washed down with a superb sweet wine. Coffee and petite fours followed by a 20 year brandy by Van Ryn to wrap up the evening. Incredible service provided by well prepared and friendly staff.

Everything was perfect. nice place to chat and chill. It is fantastic to experience different foods in a small portions. The foods are served in 4 courses or 6 courses so you can choose. There is also a menu for vegetarians. Foods are tasty. their services are great.

Amazing small plate restaurant serving dishes packing big flavors. Course after course of delicious food with great wine to accompany it. For a casual classy dining experience you cannot ask for much more. You can feel that each plate has been well thought out and executed. We were 4 people and everyone enjoyed their choices and i got to taste most of them as well.

Went to try out the spring menu yesterday and I loved every single minute. The waitrons and management were very attentive and their knowledge on the food was spot on. The plating and taste of the food was out of this world... I would recommend the star fruit dessert which is one of the better desserts I’ve tasted to date... if I was at home I would have licked the bowel. This was my first time at Foxcroft and I love how much attention to detail there was throughout the courses and the actually restaurant itself. One disappointment was that there was hardly any dessert or goodies on display in the dessert fridge. I feel like having a full fridge of delectable delights would have made my whole experience complete. Hopefully it will be full next time because I will definitely be returning again.

This is “DE” option if you are looking for delicious, amazing and beautifully prepared meals at a quite fair and reasonable price. Plus you will get an informal atmosphere yet modern, near Constantia vineyards. I booked in advance for my husband and I, but he couldn’t join me in the end and I went by myself. I still had a great time and ate like a king! I loved this place and it was a nice alternative, since their “sister restaurant” (La Colombe) was under renovations. I would def. recommend it and would go back to try the rest of the options from the menu.

It was a great experience from the service to the tantalizing food I would highly recommend this venue. I am lucky that place is a short drive grom my home.

Thank you for the most exceptional food experience last night. The sunchoke and hazelnut dish absolutely blew my mind!!!

What an amazing experience! Each dish is unique and the combination of flavours work extremely well together. A real fine dining experience which I would recommend to everyone who enjoys good food, atmosphere and wine. Well done!

Ambience, style, delicious food. For a special occasion lunch or dinner. My waiter, although polite, battled with his English, and his service was distracted and erratic. Well worth a visit.

I had high expectations from the Best New Restaurant of the Year, but was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. Every dish was absolutely picture perfect, but fell a bit short on flavour. More specifically: we had the tuna crudo, the accompanying sauces were quite bland and could have had a bit more 'zing'. The next course was the chicken Ballantine, which had a big piece of the grisly hard cartilage in it, which was surprising and certainly unwelcome. I did ask the waiter to inform the chef which it didn't seem as if he did as we didn't receive any further feedback. The Chalmar beef was tasty although the meat was slightly chewy. The other courses were fine, but just missed the wow factor overall. Not sure we would go back, especially considering the calibre of other restaurants in its class in Cape Town that we could frequent.

Foodie Heaven! Loved every bit of our dinner...especially the black tea flavored ice cream, a tea lovers dream! Thanks Foxcroft for the great food & service.

A great experience... a wonderful array of dishes displaying a superb fusion of ingredients and flavours served by well trained and informed staff; and complemented by good wines.
Aré van Schalkwyk
Definitely the best risotto in Cape Town! Loved all the food on the tasty set menu. A must visit.

The service is completely amazing and the food is out of this world good! The best dining experience by far!

Brilliant food well orchestrated creative good service what more do you want one of the best restaurants we have visited lately

It was amazing... beautiful food... superb service and great relaxed environment. It is the best meal I have had since the last time we went to the old La Colombe. Can't wait to go back!!!!

Amazing composition of flavour in every dish we ate.A truly exceptional culinary experience.Every plating was a feast for the eye,the service was faultless and efficient. The restaurant plays no background music so one is able to converse without strain. Treat yourself on a special occasion as it is expensive for the average income earner.
Margaret Currie
A truly wonderful meal. Service was great, ambience great and the food even better. My mango purée with curry ice cream and the rest was to die for. Pure dead brilliant as we say in Scotland. The starters and main course was also brilliant.
Nicole
A completely unexpected delight. All the staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is divine; we particularly enjoyed the carrot hummus and the yellow fin tuna, but everything was amazing.

An absolutely exquisite dinning experience. We came to celebrate my mum’s 60th birthday. I had arranged that we would have a glass of bubbly on arrival. They also allow you to bring 1 bottle of wine/bubbly per 4 guests of any wine that is not on their list. We both did the set menus which consisted of the bread (they made me gluten free bread) 2 tapas, 1 main and 1 dessert.

First course:
My mum had Chicken liver parfait, chicken skin, grapes and brioche and I had Yellow fin tuna, 6 month kimchi, sesame and black vinegar

Second course:
We both had Pressed chicken thigh, mushroom, celeriac and spiced quince.

Main:
We both had Oak valley pork belly, pomme purée, apple mustard, walnut, cider jus.

Dessert:
We both had Malt cake, caramel banana, Kidavoa 50% masters milk fed pet mine had extra banana and no cake pieces - gluten)

The food was absolutely exquisite, the presentation was beautiful and the service was amazing! All the staff were so polite, welcoming and attentive. They also catered to the fact that I am sensitive to gluten and tailored my meals accordingly. Cannot wait to come back! It’s was honestly one of the best dining experiences I have had.

Fine dining restaurant, quite pricey, but their spring special menu is highly recommended and Flexible for vegetarians and pescatarian. Restaurant is casual despite the fine dining, staff is friendly, wine is fantastic - all you need! Really nice outside area for summer. Very good value for money!

Had a celebratory lunch. There was a semi set menu but we ordered in a way that allowed me to taste almost everything on the menu, and every single dish was mind-blowing! Delicious, varied, interesting and perfectly portioned. The service was also exemplary and, of course, the setting is beautiful.

Foxcroft Constantia

So today we treated ourselves to a lunch in Constantia at Foxcroft for the Spring Lunch menu. (2 Tapas, 1 Main course, 1 Dessert and a Carafe of wine) Great value for money.

So on this beautiful spring day, we sat outside under the trees and was looked after by Lindsey. She took very good care of us.

We started with some Steenburg 1682 Chardonnay MCC and some Foxcroft Oysters with Tempura Corriander.

The first of the 2 tapas, we had the Cured Sustainable Fish, Fennel, cucumber, dill, kefir, Mosbolletjie. Just a flavour explosion in your mouth. Delicious!

The second of the tapas: Pork Belly & Tentacles, Miso aubergine, peanut, coriander. Perfectly cooked Pork belly, not overdone like a lot of restaurants do. This was melt in the mouth. Asparagus Risotto, Boerenkaas, parsley, confit lemon. Well balanced and beautiful.

Main meals: Linefish, Artichoke, smoked mussel, chorizo, leek. Perfectly cooked linefish on a bed of leeks, smoked mussels and the crispy potato. Chicken & Boudin noir, Turnip, cauliflower, quince, pancetta. Lovely baby turnips and baby cabbage with a wonderful jus, only one complaint that the chicken was a tiny bit dry.

Dessert: Warm Hazelnut Cake, Whipped Bahibe, naartjie, celeriac. It must have been good because when I looked to have a taste it was gone! Rhubard Financier, Dulcey, yoghurt, celery leaf, lime. Yummy and the perfect end to a wonderful experience.

And to end off we also got some mini Macarons and marshmallows.

For anyone that is considering going, book now. It should be on your places to eat without a doubt! Well worth the visit.

Foxcroft Constantia will be seeing us again very soon and gets:
Food: 10 "teeth" out of 10
Service and Staff: 9 "teeth" out of 10
Ambience: 8 "teeth" out of 10
Overall: 27 "teeth" out of 30

When dining at a place like this, one expects the service to be right up there with the food. But this was not entirely true.

The hostess received us warmly and was understanding when we had to push our reservation back, the waitress we were assigned, was disinterested and as a result, service was incredibly slow.

The fare was tasty, I can’t fault that and the plating was pretty amazing...but the service could have definitely made the evening with my family that much better.

All in all, it was a decent evening, with a cozy ambience. Although we left with our bellies fully, I won’t be hurrying back.

Celebrated my sisters birthday at Foxcroft last week. We opted for the lunch special, which consisted of two tapas style starters, a main and a dessert. The deal also included a carafe of wine each, making it excellent value for money. Each course was delicious but the highlight of my meal would have to be the dessert, which was a warm hazelnut cake. All in all it was a very pleasant experience, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I will definitely be back again soon!

Given this restaurant’s links to La Colombe, I feel compelled to visit Foxcroft! Every time I pop in for lunch, it feels like the first time. I ordered from the three-course lunch special, which consisted of the following: Smoked Ham Hock Ballotine, Free-range Pork Collar and Yakiniku Linefish. Although the other two courses were good, the Yakiniku Linefish was absolutely exceptional! This speaks to Foxcroft’s impeccable attention to detail, in terms of the food presentation, decor and waitrons. What a splendid experience!

Went to this restaurant for Mother’s Day. Exceptional blend of flavours , beautifully presented . A large team of chefs add their remarkable touches to what can only be described as a passionate “ artwork” . Better food you simply cannot get. Highly recommended . Well informed staff provide an efficient and friendly service.

Birthday and anniversary dinners are special and do not come with a budget. Just the search for a great evening with superb food. We visited just after the restaurant opened and have been an ambassador ever since. Amazingly well prepared food and I even asked for an extra portion of Brussels sprouts. Not the cheapest, but the quality and taste is not matched in the Southern Suburbs. Brilliance on a plate!

Wow, it’s always a treat to eat out in the Cape if you’re from JHB, their restaurants are just better. In every respect (and they have a view too). Foxcroft is just that. Better! Better than most in fact. Likely some of the best food I’ve eaten in CT, we went through the menu and tried everything. It’s all amazing and you cannot find fault. Also really good value for what you’re getting in my opinion. Lovely place, we’ll be back over and over.

What a start to our Cape Town trip! In need of some aesthetically pleasing, culinary experimentations to whoo our Gauteng tastebuds for lunch, we were treated to just that.
We enjoyed the beautiful weather that Cape Town had to offer (sunshine, no wind) by sitting in the courtyard seating area which (with a glass of white wine) comes highly recommended.
Service from the staff was always attentive, friendly and professional.
As the courses came one after the other, our tastebuds were graced by flavour combinations we’ve never experienced in compliment before (such as the chocolate / curry dessert), as well as hearty umami, sweet and even bitter pairings which are sophisticated and well rounded with the perfect balance of texture and richness.
Portions may seem meagre but by the end of dessert you’ll find the satisfaction you’d ordinarily obtain from a large meal and dessert.
Do try this quaint spot on your next trip! The quality:price ratio is great for most avid foodies who want a fantastic experience but can’t afford a premium-priced place.

Absolutely delicious food, relaxed atmosphere and great staff! I would definitely recommend Foxcroft to anyone. It is a little expensive, so not your everyday eatery, but should you be in the mood for a treat, definitely head down.

What can we say... an absolute delight that leaves one senses spoilt. We went to Foxcroft after finding out about the chef and founder's link to arguably one of the best fine dining restaurants in the country's (La Colombe and La Petite Colombe: read our review on the former 🤓📖)

👀 We digress... Back to Foxcroft; it is located in a quaint small town style shopping centre called High Constantia Centre... you won't even have an idea that you're in the city, feels like a small wine community.

The restaurant is as unpretentious as it's setting, the food hearty and full of flavor. Opt for a cheese and cold meats board or the seared tuna tataki for something light, alternatively the delectable pork dish (if available when you're there of course, the menu changes according to seasonal ingredients)

Go wild with desserts, get as many as your stomach will allow and if with a friend or a special someone, share the various options amongst yourselves to savour the myriad of flavors of each dish 🍰

*TIP: look out for a lunch special for a set number of courses (usually 3/4 with a few tapas)... otherwise it's well worth forking out the extra money 💰 we promise!

Absolutely phenomenal food and drinks. And what a magnificent setting as well. Will return time and time again to Foxcroft whenever I'm in Cape Town

I was initially hoping to get into La Colombe but am so glad it was booked out and I came here instead. Delicious food, highly recommend the game as a main (I had impala) and the blue cheese dessert! Also the best service I have had in a restaurant to date (compared to Melbourne and across the world) by our waiter Angus. The local beverage list is on point too.

I’ve had this restaurant on my bucket list for some time so I was delighted when I finally had the opportunity to go. This restaurant has won the Eat Out Award for Restaurant of the Year merely months after its opening, which was always going to a clear indication of what’s to expect.

Just seven months after joining the renowned La Colombe restaurant, Glen Foxcroft Williams was appointed Head Pastry Chef at the tender age of 21yrs old. For all intents and purpose, this surely should have been the first sign of the great things to come in he’s future. Fast forward Six years down the track, Williams has certainly made he’s mark with the opening of Foxcroft Restaurant.

Diners are treated to the most delicious bread, the choice of 2 tapas, I main course and 1 dessert course at R495 per person. Now you are probably reading this thinking that it’s a little pricey perhaps, I can assure you it most certainly was worth every penny, and then some.

First to be served was the complimentary Sweet potato bread with rosemary, served with roast chicken butter.

The choice of tapas, were as follows:

• Seared Tuna Tataki with chipotle, avocado, cucumber with rice puffs.

• Venison Tartare with fermented horseradish, dill , tomato and rye

• Smoked Pork Rillette with red cabbage, ale mustard and elderflower. This was absolutely fantastic

• Turnip Gratin, roasted onion, capers parmesan and lemon thyme.

• Korean BBQ Carrots with Gochujang (a fermented red chilli paste), fermented carrot and pickled pair.

• Finally Honey –glazed Quail, confit leg the most delicious rhubarb, pecan, liver jus

Our table was blown away as all of these courses were fantastic, without exception. They were well constructed and the choices of flavour combinations were truly superb.

Or main courses were:

• Pan –roasted game, which turned out to be impala, served with broccoli, confit onion and a smoked cherry jus.

• Mushroom Cannelloni with hazelnut, carrot, beetroot and a sherry veloute

• Chicken and Sweetbreads with spicy cauliflower, kohlrabi and tatsoi

• Free-range pork with gemsquash, charred cabbage and fermented plum

Again, these courses were flawless. I’ve lost track on how many times I’ve ordered the pork dish elsewhere, and it can become a little pedestrian, but this version was truly outstanding. The impala was tender and tasty and not overly gamey.

For dessert there was:

• Chocolate and Cherry with 46% Cocoa (Valrhona single origin chocolate from the Dominican Republic) with pickled cherry, cacao nib and Kirsch which is a colourless fruit flavoured brandy.

• Stonefruit with Black tea, verbena, vanilla and an interesting sauvignon blanc jelly.

• Compressed strawberry, lemon curd, geranium sour cream and matcha

• Lastly there was the savoury dessert which was a Hilton Blue Cremeux with peppered walnut, pickled apple and candied sourdough.

Many times I’ve gone to top end restaurants and been disappointed, either at the lack of innovation, and sometimes, maybe too much innovation, ergo trying too hard to be different and the elements of the dish is somehow lost in translation. This dining experience, I can assure you, was unpretentious and pure bliss. No trick was missed, and the taste and flavour elements were beautifully and thoughtfully packaged together. Foxcroft puts the “Fine” into “Fine dining” as far as I am concerned, and everyone should make an attempt to dine here at least once. Make a point and treat yourself whether you are foodie or not, because when done correctly, THIS is gastronomy at its absolute best.

Had a wonderful lunch experience at Fox Croft .I loved the ambience of the place and the quick service ,the dishes just kept rolling in.Being vegetarian,it’s difficult to have a pleasant dining experience but Fox Croft had no problem in changing this perception. The integrity of the ingredients were kept and you could taste the craft and passion of the chefs behind every dish .My favorite was the compressed strawberry dessert dish with strawberry in different forms and textures which worked really well with the fluffy bitter-sweet matcha cake .However ,the portion sizes are relatively small for its price regardless of it being remotely tapas .
Damian Casey
What an absolute treat!
Went to Foxcroft for its set lunch menu, had the quail tapas starter, pork belly main and strawberry dessert. All were bursting with unexpected flavors and were a taste for the eyes. With excellent service and a great ambience, (on a beautiful day I would suggest you sit outside) I will definitely return.

Undoubtedly the best food I have ever had the privilege to taste. I was transported to heaven with every bite. The flavours are out of this world. Something as bland as risotto is made unbelievably tasty. Compliments to the Chef, I was speechless for most of the dining experience. I was utterly amazed. Thank you Chef Foxcroft you rock!!!

Foxcroft - We spent the afternoon in foodie heaven! We were treated like celebrities, the service was that good. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable. Every single dish that came out of the kitchen was fit for a king, it was as if they were sent down from heaven, Foxcroft heaven. The flavours and textures blew us away. They also have a really great selection of wines. Thank you Foxcroft for yet another unforgettable gastronomic experience. We will be back soon.
Catherine Loukakis
Had such a stunning lunch at Foxcroft. Amazing combinations of flavors & exquisitely presented. (Bonus - it’s special but without all the pretense & panache of it’s sister restaurant La Colombe)
Sterling service.
Will definitely be back.
Keep an eye out for their week lunchtime specials that they run from time to time!

I’ve lunched at Foxcroft and the food is superb, but I want to specifically review their little bakery section which is next to the main entrance to the restaurant and open in the mornings. I go there most Tuesdays after a hike on Constantia Nek and I go specifically for their pain au chocolate! At R40 (and quite small) it is probably the most expensive chocolate croissant in Cape Town, but it is worth every crispy flakey mouthful. Pastry generally doesn’t like me, so I’m very fussy as to what I will allow to give me the inevitable indigestion which follows when I eat wheat! And I go back for punishment every time. I’ve tried their other baked goods too, also excellent!

Our starters were great, but unfortunately our Springbok main was tough / inedible. Upon complaining they said the chef agreed - I guess they had a bad day in the kitchen

One of the best restaurants to have lunch in the Southern Suburbs. The food quality is outstanding, the service unobtrusive. The winter menu is two tapas-like starters, a main course and desert.

Starters: the smoked trout is delicious, smoked trout can’t be better. The 62 degree egg with broth shows off how tasty an egg can be. The labneh is refreshing with an orgy of spices on top. The risotto is creamy and the middle of the rice still al dente - just perfect in its texture.

Mains: the sweetbread and chicken is a wonderful, heartwarming combination. The linefish is always fresh and tender with a coconut cream sauce that is not dominating. The game is tender with an herbal crust and a satisfying duck fat jus.

Deserts: creative combinations always rounding up a very, very nice meal.

The wine list is not large but carefully selected with a wine for every taste. We have been there approximately 20 times and didn’t have a single disappointment.
We went to Foxcraft for the lunch special and enjoyed two tapas, and main and dessert. From the second we walked in the staff were friendly and we had a wonderful waitress.

I'm always a bit hesitant when I have high expectations due to a restaurant being built up on social media but Foxcraft absolutely lived up to all of them. The food was amazing and so beautifully put together - what a wonderful experience! Make sure you don't miss out on the risotto, it was definitely a favorite.

Such a wonderful date night. Food outstanding, the set menu is enough to fill any appetite. Impressive wine list. Filipe; our waiter was on point. Spectacular night out.🍷🥂

I waited far too long to visit Foxcroft., and if you haven't been yet it's definitely worth a visit.

We went for our anniversary dinner, and it was absolutely incredible. We booked very late and were told that the only table still available was in the bakery section, which at the time sounded less than ideal, but was actually perfect as the bakery is still part of the restaurant, but slightly sectioned off, which made it quieter than the actual 'restaurant' section.

We brought in a special bottle of wine, but decided to start with a glass of bubbles which was promptly served with a delicious oyster amuse bouche.

Each dish served was prettier and more delicious than the last, and I can't stop thinking about the roasted garlic puree on the calamari and chorizo.

Our waiter was outstanding, and went over and above to ensure our experience was great. He even went so far as to search for the cork to my wine bottle that I forgot to ask to keep(yes I'm weird and I collect the corks of special bottles).

After we paid the bill and were about to leave our waiter met us at the door with a box of macaroons which at the time I was too full to even think about eating, but thoroughly enjoyed the next day. Like one of the best macaroons I've ever had, and I ate more than my fair share in France.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience. I can't fault them, and can't wait to go back.

Look don't get me wrong, the restaurant is lovely.
It's worth it's good reviews but it wasn't necessarily the "try before you die" everyone made it out to be.

I like the set menu though (not that we were given a choice) you get a choice of two Tapas and a main and a dessert for about 400 roughly.

The restaurant is nice looking
All the food was as good as one would expect so I was satisfied without being blown away. My friend and I tasted each other's plates and there was always something we liked and didn't like so much... I got the millet off a raving recommendation and was slightly underwhelmed (I had wanted the risotto from the previous menu) still a very good meal overall.

One thing I will rave about however is the dessert. The hype is more than fair, they were beautifully plated and the panna cotta was so delightful I was tempted to try a third.

Nooru Harnekar
Tried the winter lunch special. It's worth the R295 if you only take the food into account. However, the service was a bit lack luster. I had arrived 15 minutes prior to the rest of the party and although we were a party of 3 I was seated at a table for two. Not only that but while seated I was passed be numerous waiters who blatantly ignored me not even offering me a drinks menu while I wait. Sat there for 15 minutes till I got really annoyed and called the host over. She seemed nonchalant but ended up sorting everything out eventually. Food was good, but nothing to rave about. So the special includes 2 tapas, 1 main and 1 Dessert. I chose the cured trout and pumpkin risotto, both tasty. For main I opted for the braised lamb roulade, which tasted like dry roast leg of lamb which was also a bit bland. For dessert I had the caramelised quince which could have been a bit more generous in terms of serving. I doubt I would go back. Maybe I just expected more from the hype that was created.
Side note: The restrooms need some desperate work. It simply does not meet the criteria this establishment is hoping to portray.
Not really a fan of weird tiny fancy French food but they have a good bar which I appreciate but you can't sit at the bar which I find vexing. Everything is mysterious and not really filling

Food: It will be a waste of time to give a breakdown of every course. I went for the winter lunch special and can say that every course was absolutely delectable. One of the finest culinary experiences I've had.

Service: The service was on point with constant attention from our waitress as well as very friendly management.

Atmosphere: I sat outside which was an awesome setting for a sunny lunch.

Overall the winter special gave me a fine dining experience at an affordable rate. Would go back any day of the week.

Absolutely LOVE the food at Foxcroft. I had long awaited eating at this restaurant after finding out they were the sister to the fabulous La Colombe. We had the winter lunch special which was well worth the price.
The tapas of trout and pork cheek were the favorites with each protein prepared to perfection. The goats cheese and risotto were lovely vegetarian options. The slow cooked lamb was as easy as butter to slice through and was accompanied by an interesting jus. We tried 3 of the 4 desserts and they were all lovely and very different but the favorite was definitely the chocolate sponge cake.
There is a relaxed cafe vibe during the day but I would definitely like to come back to experience the dinner scene.

Yesterday was my first visit to Foxcroft. What an experience!!!!. I give the service, friendly staff, presentation of the food 10/10. Not to mention the taste. Foxcroft is definitely worth a try if you want value for money. I will be back !!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing front of house team. Food made with heart and it shows on the plate. Appreciated the recommendations. Warm and cosy space with a crackling fire setting chasing away the winter chills

This is new kid on the block.Run by San Pelligrino
famed chef from La Colombe it is a place not to miss.
We had no bookings but the maitre d' was accommodating. The restaurant has 2 sittings on Sunday - this was not on their website.Bookings are essential.
The set menu comprising 2 tapas,a main and dessert we chose. We were not disappointed. The squid was delicious, the beef tartare perfect and the tempura vegetables light with a home made ponzu sauce.
For mains my loin of springbok was not gamey, the duck breast substantial. The line fish was not as good as expected. The bulgur and lentil was interesting
Dessert was intriguing.Beautifully plated and a tantalizing experience. The wine complimented the meal. The wine list is extensive.

This is the place to go when you want to celebrate or spoil yourself. Everything about the food - presentation, texture, taste was faultless, and some of the dishes (particularly the beef tartare, duck and panacotta) would get a Best in Class at any show. The service was attentive and the ambience although somewhat spartan was transformed by a cheerful and very efficient log fire on a damp and chilly Cape nightNot cheap, but I say that it is good value for money for those who are interested in seriously good food with wine to match.

After visiting Foxcroft 4 times since it opened (events organized by others), I feel I have given it a fair chance but unfortunately I can't rave about it.
- The menu is tricky and restrictive- especially for vegetarians.
- The menu has barely changed since opening, as a vegetarian you end up having to eat the same dishes every visit.
- The bathrooms are dark and disgusting. I was forced to clean pee off the seat in order to use the toilet. Not to mention my grandmother having to be helped down the huge flight of stairs to get there.
- The staff seem to forget you exist half way through serving.
- Waitress cleared the table completely while I was still finishing my dish.
- The place is cold and drafty. The fire was allowed to go out and requests to relight it were ignored.
- Many dishes were tasty, however numerous people commented about overly salty dishes at my table. The overall consensus was "average".
I do have to commend them on their desserts though, they are all delicious!
In comparison to other restaurants in the area (La Colombe, Chef's Warehouse, Bistro1682) Foxcroft falls very short in terms of ambience, service and food.
Nestled away in the suburbs - so a bit of a drive if you're an out of towner (especially if your gps leads you the Hout Bay route). Food was worth the drive though. Amazing. Only wish there was a chicken dish on the main course menu. The must tries are: starter - lamb ribs, main - duck, dessert the panacotta.

Interested in a WOW experience?? This is the place for you!!

We can discuss great restaurants in Cape Town all day, but these guys live it. Absolutely top food and brilliant presentation. The selection will blow you away! I cannot be complimentary enough. The wine list is fantastic too.

The only thing that can be criticsed is the decor and that's because It's a functional space, giving the feeling of design for the purpose of functionality.
Foxcroft was one of my favourite dining experiences ever! The setting and atmosphere was excellent, the meal was reasonable and very well-paced and the food ranged from very good to superb. I couldn't recommend them more highly.
Christiaan Dejager
What a creative seasonal menu. I would definitely recomend Foxcroft to any foodie out there, who doesnt mind forking over a tidy sum. They dont have alot of seating so if you plan on heading over there for lunch ,i would suggest that you book ahead of time. You wont be disapointed.
Stacy Hart
I had been dying to try Foxcroft out after seeing their instagram. The servers are so approachable and really know how to make you feel at home. They knew each dish thoroughly and even suggested good food and wine pairing. The setting in constantia couldn't have gotten any more beautiful.
Tip: order two tapas instead of a main to get the most out of your money .

A full five for fabulous Foxcroft's fine fare!

I took the missus out to Foxcroft last night. All round an excellent meal. Food was sophisticated without being frilly; service was top notch; and the chef whipped up an alternative desert for me to accommodate my lactose intolerance.
The menu is semi-set: you choose two starters, one main and a dessert for R435. I'm not sure how often it changes, but the lamb ribs, the duck and the pork all stood out for us.
Setting is vibey and kind of funky.
Samantha
Absolutely amazing setting and food! The wait staff was very friendly. Only issue I had was the wait time between courses was longer than I would have liked. Other than that I'd definitely recommend trying it out!

Phenomenal. On my recent trip to Cape Town, this was without a doubt my favourite dining experience. I've dined at their sister restaurant, La Colombe, and Foxcroft definitely lives up to the exceptional culinary experience.

Let's start with the service. Our waitress was a lovely girl named Georgia. She definitely contributed to the amazing experience we had. She was very well versed in the menu and made excellent suggestions. Being a table of four, she suggested we order various tapas in order to try as many as possible, then also made recommendations on what we should get. She was incredibly attentive and always appeared at exactly the right time to clarify any of our questions. Apart from the superlative service, upon hearing our uncertainty as to what to do after we leave the restaurant, she made several suggestions as to places we could go to.

As is to be expected, the food was extraordinary. The tapas and pudding being the two highlights of the meal. Every single portion of tapas was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The virgin butter was life changing. As a main course I had the Chalmar beef. Although very good it didn't match the tapas in my view. The pudding was moorish. A gypsy tart with passion fruit sorbet. Although very decadent and sweet, I could easily have several slices.

If they keep up this standard, I will return to Foxcroft again and again. A lovely day in the Southern Suburbs!

The service was incredible. As a group of +20, we were served very well and comfortably professional. I had the best time. The food was amazing. Each course (from starters to dessert) had an amazing combination of flavours that felt as if it melted in your mouth... pleasing to the tastebuds. The view outside overlooks the mountains and lots of open greenery.

I regard this as one of the BEST restaurants! We HAD TO taste a meringue before the courses had even begun, and let me tell you, it is as magical as the rest of the experience!

I'd been recommended the beef tartare by the waitress, and wow the kitchen impressed, a perfect harmony of acidity with their gherkins and just the perfect combination of textures (I LOVED the innovation of the popcorn cracker!!) My second course of the linefish was beautiful too, as was the tender duck with a sweet plum sauce and wild garlic cloves!

I would suggest a bit more excitement with their vegetarian alternative, which was mostly tempura vegetables... The kitchen staff is very large but well done: local suppliers, quality freshness and a French style bakery possibly as excellent!

Foxcroft floored me. From the warm welcome and impeccable service to the incredibly knowledgeable waiter who deftly served our table and imparted intimate knowledge of each dish and it's meal preparation methods upon is. It was obvious that she was not merely regurgitating something she had read off a menu or been told a few times, but that she had, in fact, been given true knowledge about our dishes, their ingredients, and the ways in which they were thrown together. To start, I had the mussels (which I could have had bowls and bowls of) along with the Korean Fried Chicken with Buttermilk Espuma (the chicken fell off the bone and was so delicious on its own that I abandoned the Espuma all together). My main was the Chalmar Beef (grass-fed sirloin served medium rare with duck fat chips) and my dessert was the Rose panna cotta. I nibbled on 'a Chicken Ballontine tapas and swooned over his pork mains (prepared three ways: neck, fillet, and jowl - the last of which was the end of me). His dessert choice was the sinful gypsy tart which I ended having more than my fair share of thanks to the delightful combination of caramel, passion fruit sorbet, and nuts. Rush on over, people! This scintillating spot is worth ALL the hype.

Brilliant! Service staff are certainly trained well (but you may find service flags ever so slightly the busier the place gets). Nevertheless.. plates cleared quickly, drinks topped up when running low, napkins neatly folded when you abandon your post. Foxcroft is running the kitchen quietly and smoothly and front of house brings their end. The tuna crudo and mussels tapas stood out but better yet the mains. Duck breast was perfectly cooked resting on a bed of coconut creamed kale. Pork 3 ways impressed with ginger coming through in the sauce and the stone fruit. The meat was cooked beautifully; everything on the plate was just right. Both dishes fantastic and balanced showcasing Asian fusion flair. If you're stuck trying to decide on a main do stray from the safe choices (like the steak) and give the rest a try. Dessert was a love affair. Great attention to detail on the rose and lime panacotta as well as the pineapple parfait with sorbet. Gorgeous. Delicious. Go now.

I finally managed to get a table at Foxcroft. Clearly it's very popular and the menu reads well. We went for the 'dinner menu' which included two tapas a main and dessert. Two of the four tapas were great - the squid and the lamb riblets. There was nothing particularly Korean about the Korean Fried Chicken and the charcuterie was okay. The mains were very busy with far too many bitter elements. I don't know, maybe my expectations are too high when it comes to "fine dining" but the flavours were underwhelming. The desserts were forgettable...style over substance.
The staff are great and the experience was fun but it's a one-time-visit kinda place.
Candi Make Up
We visited Foxcroft for their pastries. Coffee good, not particularly blown away by the sweets and service. I'm certain the lemon eclair and black forest cake were yesterday's pastries. Macaroon was good. Perhaps I was expecting more from the restaurant.. lunch and dinner surely must be better considering reviews.. wont return.

Outstanding! As a family of 5 we had the most amazing gastronomic experience. First of all we were wonderfully welcomed and had a friendly and super helpful waitress. There for lunch we each ordered two tapas, one main and one desert. I highly recommend the tomato salad, so simple yet full of flavours that work so well but aren't overwhelming. The beef tartare and free range chicken was also outstanding. For mains we had a combination of the millet, beef and fish. The millet was full of flavor and lovely veggies; rich but delicious. The beef was super tender and the duck fat chips to die for! Fish was lovely and I always enjoy fish when it doesn't taste too fishy and this was perfect. Desert ranged from a cheese board, gypsy tart, panna cotta and pineapple parfait. All amazing, none were too rich and so they completed the end of the meal perfectly. Drink list was full of everything you need as well!
Perfect if you're looking for something a bit more up scale to your usual place but not too ridiculous or overpriced. Definitely worth every penny! It will blow your tastebuds away!

My favourite food experience of the year so far!

Such an amazing venue for a special celebration. You are really treated at Foxcroft, from the impeccable service, wine list, vibe (see the chefs cooking), and most importantly the food is just amazing.

You will find it hard to choose what to eat! I must say the desserts completely overshadowed the rest of the meal, it was incredible. Just as good as La Colombe dessert.

The price is great for the processes and work that goes into each dish!

Can't wait to go back!

At last! I managed to crack the nod and got invited to Foxcroft for lunch on Friday. It has been hard to get a table so I was waiting for the season to come to an end! We sat outside under umbrellas and apart from the guy talking at the top of his voice on his mobile while pacing up and down behind me, it was a great atmosphere. Fortunately he stopped before we started eating (I think his battery died?) The service was excellent and the waitress very pleasant and smiley. The mine list is top class. The set menu includes 2 dishes from the Tapas menu to start, one main and one desert. The food was all amazing with smokiness mixed with rich pork, duck and chicken. I had some delicious calamari and duck Ballantine, the one special not on the menu. The portions were more than adequate and I left before dessert but was more than satisfied. It is no wonder it so hard to get a table and the Zomato ratings are consistently 4-5! Well done, great to have another top notch Restuarant in our hood.

The pictures speak for themselves.
Amazing restaurant with great innovative food and attentive service.
Fine dining experience without the superficial vibe. Huge Value for money

Absolutely blown away.

Good service, warm and inviting atmosphere and interior but it was the food that was absolutely fabulous.

I had two glasses of the Steenberg Chardonnay MCC but I will certainly go for the lunch time special next time......R200 pp for bottomless bubbly....mmmm oh yeah.

We both went for the lunch time menu of two tapas, a main and a dessert.

✔Ceviche was delicate and fragrant
✔Tuna was filled with beautiful textures that surprised us
✔Beef tartar was sublime and we'll balanced
✔Oysters fresh and the sea flavours enhanced with condiments that makes me never want to eat oysters the traditional way again
✔The duck and our pork jowl....cooked to perfection
✔The coconut pannacotta sent me to seventh heaven

Fine dining quality set in such a beautiful and relaxed environment....what more could you ask for....I think we found our new hangout.

Don't ever leave us Foxcroft.

My best meal in #capetown was @foxcroftfood an upper casual place with a relaxed and chilled atmosphere and very good service.
Set menu with tapas and mains and great deserts
We had a seating outside next to the Koi fishpond as it was a lovely day for lunch, and a lovely setting. Our waitress was great, efficient and friendly.
For the 2 tapas, I decided to be adventurous and tried the Smoked Pig's Head Croquette (contains the cheek and brain). Psychological ly, I don't eat offal, but our waitress persuaded me to try it, and it was delicious! My only suggestion would be to serve a little more piccalilli with it and to add some caramelized onion to add a sweet touch. They were out of the lamb rib, so I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken, was was spicy, just how I like it, and excellent.
For mains, their new dish of pork done 3 ways was also superb! My sister had the Chalmer Beef, and said she'd be dreaming about the sauce for days to come because it was so delicious! I tried some of her sauce, and all I can say is that they must never take it off the menu. It's a mushroom reduction jus with truffle. What a winner! We were all rather full, so we all decided on the Rose and Coconut Panna Cotta. A great choice because it was light and rounded of a great meal very nicely.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. It's better than some of the top 10 I've been to. One suggestion though .... one should be able to just order tapas only without a main and dessert as well.

What a quaint little spot in the middle of Constantia. Had the most lovely lunch there on Saturday sitting outside in their very cute garden area listening to the bubbling sounds of the fountain and the most gorgeous koi fish swimming in it. This is a great place to come for a long and leisurely meal, enjoy some great wine with company and relax in the beautiful surroundings.

Really nice experience at foxcroft 2day. We had the lunch set menu. We chose the Tuna, beef tartare, mussels and squid as tapas, and fish and pork as mains. Loooveeed the beef and the squid was also tasty. We waited quite a while for our mains, but the chef made up for it by sending the special of the day, oysters, to our table on the house. Be sure to order the oysters on the side. They were delicious. Deserts were panacotta and strawberry with croissant... Both delicious! Awesome waiter, awesome atmosphere... Overall a wonderful experience... Will go again and again and again.

What a gem of a restaurant!! Foxcroft was welcoming, comfortable and an absolute treat with exquisitely presented food, friendly waiters and delicious wine. The ambience was relaxed, but vibey ensuring a a good evening out for just about any occasion. My boyfriend and I shared the tapas menu, which was sufficient for the two with every plate different to the last and completely exploding with a whole range of flavours. I can't wait to go back again!!
Robert Koen
Andrew Michau and I had lunch, an extremely well priced offering at R385/person, for which you can order 2 tapas starters, a main and a dessert.

Foxcroft deserves the positive media coverage it is receiving with a well-designed menu and a stellar wine list to boast.

We did feel that the food 'tried to be too pretty', referring to numerous edible flowers on almost every plate. Staff knowledge of the menu can definitely also improve - our waiter could almost not expand on the dishes at all.

All in all, a wonderful experience. Looking forward to the day that Foxcroft has grown out of trying to impress, to simply impressing.

Oh be still my beating heart! Now this was a memorable dining experience! Such a special place- the restaurant is cosy and tastefully decorated, waiters are friendly and knowledgeable, but the food- oh the food! Even the butter they bring the bread with before you ordered, was to die for. We were a table of 10 and everyone was attended to. The general feedback I got was that the starters and desserts are out of this world, but the mains didn't shine as brightly as the rest of the dishes. I would recommend: the tofu broth as starter, duck for main and the basil cheesecake for dessert. Would go back ASAP

I cannot believe this restaurant is 10 minutes from my home and I only discovered it 2 weeks ago. I love this restaurant and will be visiting more regularly. If you love food and take it seriously, you will love Foxcroft. Here is a short description of the oysters and panna cotta. You can read the full article on my blog (theauthenticgirl.com).

For starters, we had the poached oysters, paired with Slanghoek wines. I’m at a loss for words to describe the rich, juicy, buttery flavour of these oysters, but they were poached perfectly! If you love oysters, you will adore the oysters at Foxcroft.

Thereafter we ordered panna cotta. The panna cotta was paired with the Slanghoek Vin Doux, an aromatic sweet wine, with a crisp, fruity finish. After starring at the beautifully presented panna cotta, I eventually tucked in and was immediately transported into food heaven. The texture of the panna cotta was smooth, firm, silky and comforting.

Read full article on my blog: theauthenticgirl.com

What a lovely little tapas place buried in the heat of Constantia! Amazing food and a lovely place to spend the an afternoon with a glass of wine!

Brilliant
At that price to eat at south Africa's best new restaurant.
Service was faultless
The starters, mains and desserts were incredible.
It is un-pretentious food made by professionals with superior ingredients in a relaxed environment with impeccable service.
The dining experience was exciting and I would highly recommend it.
Go now before they realize their prices are unsustainable to a 2hour dining turnaround with such impeccable, attention to detail food.
After a 10 minute wait and asking for a menu we were finally served. Our waiter had to be called. Hmmm. We were off to a slow start. The decor is very modern with a touch of quirkiness very evident in the tiling on the bar counter. A little cooler room where they keep all the cold meats divides the kitchen from the restaurant and the little on-site bakery.

Dinner costs R395 for 2 tapas, a main and a dessert. Pretty worth it based on the portion sizes and quality of the food. Needless to say i rolled outta there because we never anticipated the charcuterie tapa serving to be so big.

6 slices of bread with 4 different types of meats, olives, pickled onion, fennel and apple preserve and some salad leaves. Loved it! Definitely our kind of food.

We also had the squid and tofu as second tapas which were good as well.

For mains i did the rib eye steak which was really tasty and cooked to perfection. And those duck fat fries - yum yum yum! The portion wasn't that big so someone with a healthy appetite might feel a tad bit hungry afterwards.

Hubby did the duck roulade which was ok.

Dessert was really good - i did the raspberry beignets and hubby did the compressed strawberries. Very interesting flavours with my dessert - part sweet/part savoury.

After our slow start our waiter actually turned out be great. Friendly guy who recommended an excellent wine and gave thorough explanations of our food. I always have plenty of questions and he was happy to answer them all. Plus in my book any day.

Looking forward to a second visit soon 😀
Kate Mulholland
We had the R395 menu where you choose 2 tapas, 1 main and 1 desert. The tuna tartar was absolutely amazing! The tofu agadashi was also really good, as was the risotto. The panna cotta was perfectly done with great flavours. The only drawback was the amount of time it took between each plate, it was far too long.
Trevor
For R395 per head you get choice of 2 tapas 1 main and 1 dessert. Recommended.
For tapas we chose Korean fried chicken - sensational, dirty steak ( anchovy guasacaca, pickled cucumber- also delicious, tuna tartare ( tempura Avi,miso, daikon, apple and baby gem) Tremendous
For mains we had beef ribeye and lamb'a leg
Desserts - gypsy tart was really divine and rose coconut panda cotta
All the dishes were perfectly presented and without exaggeration- top notch
The difference really was the novel dishes, innovative
We had a Mullineux Chenin Blanc and Conde Stark cab Sav
Ambience was relaxed if noisy.
Service too was first class.
Great addition to culinary scene in Constantia
One minor irritation was our table which kept sliding along the floor- every time someone touched the table it lurched across the floor.
Louise Alice Hurman
Celebrated my 3 year anniversary dinner at Foxcroft. R395 for 2 tapas, a main meal and desert- well worth it and the food was incredible! Nice atmosphere, relaxed and vibey. Staff were friendly and very attentive without being overbearing. Can't wait to go back!
Mark Coumbes
Delicious food and nice choices with good pairing of wines. Excellent service from staff BUT very slow in the kitchen. Arrived at 13:15 for lunch and still waiting on our coffee and dessert at 16:00

Happened upon Foxcroft and was fortunate enough to get a table for lunch today. What a great find. We had the set menu and bottomles bubbles and were impressed. The setting was great with tables well spaced and great service. The food was fantastic, the mussels and other tapas were great. A well thought out selection of mains which made it difficult to choose, we settled on the aged duck and pork belly which did not disappoint. Do yourself a favour and a don't sit too close to the kitchen if you can help it as it makes the choice of courses harder. Generally good value for money and we will be back and have already recommended it to friends.

Brought my better half here for his birthday supper and must say I was thoroughly impressed!

Unfortunately I can't give higher than 4 stars as my partner did not enjoy the lamb and he received the wrong order with the tappas.

That said, my selections were AMAZING!!! The highlight of the tapas without a doubt was the Yellowtail Ceviche😍 I got my entire life!!

For mains I also had another mouthgasm with the duck as it was cooked to perfection! 💯

Desserts were just so heavenly my tummy is still reminded of that bliss it brought!!

All in all I would definitely come back... A bit pricey but worth it :)

The place is beautiful, waters are on the ball constantly. I wish they had more variety instead of a set menu, the 7 day aged duck is delicious but the Gypsy Tart was my highlight of the night. It's a cool and reserved place nonetheless
Lesley Street
Beautiful place and very well trained waiters, but the food was a bit of a let down. The starters were alright but nothing spectacular, the best one was the dirty steak, the others were underwhelming. The same can be said for the mains, they were good but not great. The desserts however, were great. The gypsy tart is amazing!
Olivia
More relaxed version of la columbe but food and service are of the same standard. Really enjoyed the tapas aspect, made the experience more exciting.
Cecile Jones
We had a light lunch here off their tapas menu. The food was really good... the staff were excellent... the desserts were delicious. However the portion size is small and pricing was on the very high end. 2 tapas, a cheese plate, cappuccino x 2 and 2 desserts came to over R400 plus tip

Foxcroft Take 2

Having already visited, the newly opened Foxcroft Constantia, for lunch and sampling 75% of the menu on that occasions it was simply a must to go and try the balance of their menu.

We decided on a mid-week dinner and arriving fairly early we were seated in the bakery area and if given the choice again I think they might be the best seats in the house for an intimate dinner.

The place fills up fairly quickly, but this is to be expected, so be sure to make your reservations well ahead of time

For the dinner seating they still offer the A La Carte Menu but its set up a little differently for R350 per person, you get to select any 2 tapas; 1 main and 1 dessert. We certainly thought it was worth it and really good value for money.

So this time round we tried the following.

Tapas

Mussels – Bacon, confit Lemon, Soubise

Tempura Prawns – Tom ka gai emulsion

Korean Fried Chicken – Buttermilk Espuma

Smoked Pig’s Head Croquette – Curried Sultana, Piccalilli, Crème Fraiche

***

Mains

Slow-cooked Lamb’s Leg – White bean hummus, smoked Garlic, Black Olive, minted Potatoes

Risotto – Cauliflower and Camembert, Celery Leaf, Salsa Verde

***

Dessert

The Cheese Room – a selection of Cheese

Elderflower Doughnuts – Litchi Milk Ice, Raspberries

Everything was superb, but now having tried out 100% of the menu our favourites are:

TAPAS

Charcuterie

Yellowtail Ceviche

Squid

Oysters

MAINS

Pan Seared Linefish

Slow-cooked Lamb’s Leg

Confit Pork Belly

Dessert

Rose and Coconut Panna Cotta

Elderflower Doughnuts

The Cheese Room

Enjoyed a really good meal on the opening weekend. Fairly sparse table layout obviously designed to handle opening week jitters, new kitchen, and manage service level expectations.

We shared multiple tapas dishes (mussels, chorizo squid, tuna tartare, tempura prawn, yellowtail ceviche) with the yellowtail surprising me as the best option, along with the squid.

For mains we selected Ribeye, pork belly, and 2x Camembert risotto. Satisfaction all round.

Bubbly, chenin, red blend - followed by panna cotta and delightful little cakes, sourced from the bakery (it featured in the Facebook video, so we asked them for a couple to try).

Fantastic food quality and attention to detail on the plates - I think it's a smart business move to make access to this team more accessible and relaxed. As always I would prefer wine prices to be less vital to profitability, but then this type of food wouldn't be priced at this level.
Barbara Ann Hall
Flavours to really tantalise the taste buds. What a fabulous new place on the block. Tapas style menu and more, not for vegetarians though as there are only two options for you guys. One tapas and one main. Acoustics not great as there were loads of ladies there and it was loud and echoed a lot. Expensive too but really worth at least one visit.😍
Raph Jeftha
Can't fault this place in any way. Incredible menu, service, taste, atmosphere...everything ties together so impeccably. The Yellowtail starter without a doubt the favorite dish of the evening. Every dish was an explosion of flavor and a total sensory overload. Just wow...
