Review Rodeo Spur Steak Ranch - Claremont

I was a bit sceptical about the Halaal Menu but I was never so wrong. They just took the bar to another level and my Love definitely enjoyed it. Thank you guys for the awesomeness and see you soon 👍. Side note the Warrior Combo is definitely for warriors 😂😂😂.

It's always a pleasant time when I visit Rodeo Spur. This time, I used a hyperli voucher, which included 3 main courses for two people. For starters, we ordered a portion of crumbled mushroom (sharing). I always order this for starters, but this time, it tasted really bad. I really don't know how to explain it, but it was very batter-ish and the mushroom was a bit off. It was not crispy as usual. It was a really busy lunchtime, so I sort of understand this could happen for the rush. Hope it doesn't happen again. For main, I ordered a 200g rump, and my mom chose a 200g beef sirloin steak. Both meals were really good and we thoroughly enjoyed it. As a side, we ordered a Greek salad. We were already filled from all the food, but how can we leave without having dessert? So we chose two half waffles. Could be a bit crisper but still worked out. Our waitress was really good, so a generous tip was deserved. Her name is Kuthi and a very beautiful lady. Overall, it is one of the best Spur branches.

We had a party on Sunday 29th , I think the waiter should be dedicated to our area only or maybe 2 waiters when it's a kiddies party. We waited long for most things. Food was good!

Always a vibe going to this spur. The staff are friendly and always walking about with a smile. Our waiter, Chris, was extremely helpful and was patient with us, as we had some late arrivals to our party of people. The "Special order" is also always great, lolz. They'll pop up outta nowhere and the birthday song commences

It's been years since we had Spur and Claremont Rodeo definitely didn't dissapoint! Keep up the great consistent service!

Excellent service. Food freshly prepared. Friendly staff. Management well organized. Neat & clean. Music not playing too loud & staff not shouting at the top of their voices as in other stores.

The staff is just amazing. Chris was an excellent waiter & the manager is so attentive, even checking toilets herself! I will definitely go back there.

Anele is one of the best waiters in Cape Town and the entire Rodeo Spur team was very friendly. The meals were tasty and fresh.

Although we arrived early for breakfast, after ordering drinks, we had to ask for our waiter to order. My husband and I ordered from breakfast menu and the kids ordered breakfast, the wait for our food was longer and our kids' food was probably 10 minutes later while the people behind us who came after us was brought their food before us. Once done we had to again get someone to bring bill, doggy bag etc. The manager/ supervisor going between tables asked everyone else how things are going except us.Waiter more interested in the sports on tv. Manager at till apologized but only once my husband brought it to her attention.I guess its who you know it this Spur. Disappointed after being a patron for a while

My wife and I recently visited the Rodeo Spur Claremont a few times for breakfast while on leave and what a lovely different atmosphere and service we received. Greeted with smiles from waiters and cashiers, assisted instantly with breakfast and truly tasting like people with a taste for life �. Neil the Manager thanks for the chat and lovely staff I will recommend anyone to visit the Claremont branch. 5 out of 5 from myself and family.

It's been awhile since I patroned this Spur( Warwick Claremont). Over time I've heard bad reviews. Today my family and I frequented the restaurant and what a disappointment. Firstly, the place was generally quite, yet service was extremely poor- in the waiter getting to our table as well as the food arriving. Most of us had burgers and I can say without a doubt that the rolls were old. Furthemore, I ordered a creme brulee latte and this was made sub-standard. I've had this drink many times at the KC branch and they make it perfectly Everytime. After today's experience, I'm inclined to believe what I've been hearing from others on how this branch standards have decreased. Such a pity!

Nothing better than a spur chargrilled chedamealt steak... hmmm.. and my own invention, Texan blaze chicken burger with a top up beef patty to make it a monster meal.... Nothing better

From an unpleasant experience to walking out the store satisfied customers. I would like to thank Zolani and Neil for their selfless effort in restoring our faith in that store. It shows that a little empathy from management and staff really goes a long way to satisfy a dissatisfied customer. Well done Neil and Zolani, other management and staff can really take learnings from your excellent customer service. Keep it up!

This was the absolute worst Spur I have ever been to! Our waitress was new and left to manage things on her own with no support from management. They checked our order 3 times and still got it wrong. We waited over 30min to receive a glass of orange juice, and to top all the mistakes and delays all off our bill was also incorrect charging us for items we didn’t even have. All the manager did was give attitude and make excuses. The place was empty so no excuse for all these issues. We had another table next to us who also complained to the manager saying that they had waited 45min for a glass of water! It is unacceptable. They need a new manager who can teach the staff and supervise the running correctly. I will never go back and I would suggest you visit another Spur altogether.

Do NOT order the starter portion of wings. It's not worth the price.

Was there yesterday for a fathersday lunch. There was no milk. No icecream. When we asked for dessert menu we were advised not to order as it can take up to 45 min. My sons chicken wasnt properly cooked. Our wings order was wrong. Waited so long for our starters. I neva complain but this was just too much at once.

Met up with a friend for lunch last weekend. The food fell short of expectations. I ordered a medium sirloin and instead received a very flat extremely well cooked and very chewy piece of meat. The onion rings and chips were nice and crispy though. Our waitress, although very pleasant and friendly, didn't detract from the long wait for our meals.

Ordered a takeaway only to get home with burnt ribs tasted like someone tried to wash them. Service was really good but food was horrible!!!!

I’ve been eating at Spur restaurants for over 20 years. The food is generally good and you know you’re going to get value for your money. However not all Spurs are equal. <br/><br/>This branch has never failed to disappoint me. I loved my cheesy prawn steak. I asked for medium and it was cooked to perfection. Two words come to mind-tender and succulent.<br/><br/>Service was good and quite fast too. <br/><br/>My only problem was that the prawns were a bit overdone. But the cheese sauce was awesome. <br/><br/>Yes, I will keep going back for more.<br/><br/><br/><br/>

Good service. Good food. However first time we noticed that the waiters helpers were 12 years old or on school. Suprise spur gives these kids opportunities

I regularly eat at this Spur - every week or second week. Their food is inconsistent and surprisingly, they do not know how to cook a steak as whenever I order Medium/Well, the steak is beyond Well-done. However, there are times when the food is cooked to perfection and I leave satisfied.

The experience wasn't too good. Got a table, sat for about 30-45 mins before someone took our order, it seemed a little chaotic I must say but Nimrod the waiter did his best to ensure we enjoyed the meal. To make matters worse my onion rings looked more like crumbers than rings but the manager sorted that out by giving me proper onion rings.

Spur has always been my go-to steakhouse as they never disappoint, and my visits to this particular Spur were no different. The waiters are friendly, the service is great and the food is as good as one expects from Spur.<br/><br/>The restaurant, however, tends to get really noisy when full (I mean, really noisy). Pair that with the loud music being played and you're bound to leave with a headache. Maybe something for them to consider during peak hours. Overall, this is my family's preferred Spur. Keep up the great work!

The last two times I've been here were quite disappointing. Used to be my go to place but not anymore. Standards dropped quite significantly. Service is okay but will rather use Kenilworth or Ottery Spur in future.

This spur used to be my go-to spur for years... However, tonight I am extremely disappointed at their lack of consideration towards their customers, especially towards their muslim customers heading out to break their fast.<br/><br/>When we got to Rodeo Spur, the doors were locked, but there were customers inside. It wasn't that full either. So we waited patiently.. the cashier had clearly seen us, as she awkwardly smiled, turned to another staff member and laughed. So we continued waiting as more people filled the foyer. Eventually it was now 10min before we had to break our fast and no one bothered to help us. So we knocked on the door. Another customer inside spur walked passed and we signaled him to call someone. So he told the lady at the desk who initially shrugged us off.<br/>Finally a manager opened the door to explain that they weren't letting customers in because they were short staffed due to the protests in gugs and most of their staff coming from tnere. This was understandable. BUT what was NOT acceptable was that<br/>1) we stood there for about 10 -15min waiting to be acknowledged (by staff and customers who clearly saw us)<br/>2) there was no signs explaining anything<br/>3) when addressings us, they turned away people who did not have family/friends inside and allowed those who did in...<br/>And finally 4) we then had less than 7min to find another place to quickly break our fast...<br/><br/>Such disappointing and horrible behaviour from Spur's staff!!! They could have at least been decent enough to inform us of the situation with enough time to find somewhere more accommodating!! Ontop of that, why allow some customers in and others not?? Disgusting!!

I only ever really go to Spur for the 2-1 burger special. The size of the burgers have decreased quite a bit over the last year. There have been many (more often than not) times where the onion rings are drenched in oil, instead of being crispy. The manager at this branch is usually competent and willing to rectify any problems. Other than that, the burger meals are okay if you're looking for an affordable, easy meal.

It was a dam good 500g lazy age steak I had in a long <br/>Time and for the pice seems is came down sure they will see me again good service friendly waiters and quick survive

Can I just say that the nachos are always amazing!!! The half portion is quite huge surprisingly, my portion was shared amongst 3 people. My main was the chicken cheddermelt. Hmmmm not really one of my favs because it is alittle dry. Overall the food was tasty and filled my belly.

I Haven't had a burger in ages. So wifey suggested burger night at spur. Well why not, it being 2 for one special. We shared the combo starter of calamari and mushrooms. The mushrooms were flavorless , needed loads of tarter sauce for flavour. Calamari was ok I guess. I had the Mexican burger , not bad, I guess what you'd expect from spur. Wifey had a Texan chicken burgers, "was ok" she said." It's a spur burger". Service was good

Went to this spur last night. Service leaves much to be desired. Had about 3 different waiters and the one who's section I thought we were in had two other big tables and was not able to pay attention to us and his other tables - had to wait about half an hour for our drinks and even then had to find the manager to ask where our drinks were. The food was very good except that when I received my order (400g ribs with hot veg), I got such a small portion that I waited for a bit before I started because I was waiting for my veg and contemplating whether to complain and two minutes later, a waiter came and asked for my plate back and handed me another plate (see pics). I almost sighed in relief, it was a much more reasonable portion than the mistake plate they've gave me. So overall, good food but service can be improved.

Pathetic experience is putting it lightly. <br/><br/>Came here for the Monday special where you can purchase two for one on any burger of your choice.<br/><br/>Ordered the Texan burger and the waiter, who seemed absent the bulk of the time, said that they ran out of Texan powder so we opted for the flame grilled chicken burger. Of which 3/4 chicken fillets were raw, the bun old as well as the 'sweet potato fries' which tasted as if they were refried. <br/><br/>I was so astonished at the quality that I decided to leave with an empty stomach. <br/><br/>At least the manager came to apologize and asked me if I would've liked something else, but he had to do it three times which, quite frankly, is embarrassing. <br/><br/>Some serious improving and action needs to be taken. <br/>

So it was my day off and happened to be in Claremont and knowing this Spur decided to go.. The restaurant wasn't all that full so what followed didn't make sense at all. Was a Monday and spur has that buy one get one free burgers which I decided to have my wife however ordered the sirloin and lemonade. After roughly an hour I asked my waiter where my food was and he called one of the managers who informed me that he Will have a look. At this point I was extremely frustrated as many tables had come and gone having eaten and I was still waiting. I requested my Bill for the drinks I had and decided to find food some where else. So for Food I give this place a 1/10 (no food). The manager took down my details and haven't heard from him either, so....<br/><br/>Hope no one has this experience. Did I mention I had a 1 year old who also left hungry. <br/><br/>🕛🕐🕑🕒🕓🕔🕕🕖🕗🕘🕙🕚

*IT'S A BIG 'NO' FROM ME*<br/>Terrible service despite having dozens of waiters around. When asking to be assisted, the waiter went to call on the next one to help us. After many requests, one of the waiters finally came by, smacking the menus down in front of us and ran off again. The food was also just okay-ish; the ladies restroom was absolutely disgusting! Appalling smell and fluids everywhere. Won't be returning any time soon.<br/>EDIT:<br/>The operations manager of Rodeo Spur has contacted me and all issues were addressed. She was very curious to get all the details about the incident and explained that she is trying to get to the bottom of it to ensure that it was not left unresolved. Her dedication to restore and maintain customer satisfaction amazed me! Thank you, Nadia - I look forward to returning to an improved Rodeo Spur.

I was there with my family on a Sunday. I pre booked so that they knew 20 people were coming and that the service would obviously have to be a bit faster, but alas service was slow and the burgers lacked sauce. Also we waited for sauce refills and never got any so while we waited for sauce our food got cold and we just ate it anyway. I was a bit disappointed as I expected it to be better service wise. I know Sunday's are hectic but that's not a reason to slack in service delivery and timing.

So the first sat after Ramadan I decide to treat my kids who fasted the full month to their request for Spur ribs. Upon placing our order the waiter (Lucky) informs me that they have NO ribs -strike 1<br/>My girls deflated then orders beef burgers. I then ask for Tomahawk steak and the waiter informs me it is no longer on the menu. So at this point I am a bit irritated. I ask the waiter to place my family's order and to come back for mine. He returns and I settle for 350g T-bone steak. He leaves and returns 5mins later and informs me that there is NO T-bone steak either! STRIKE 2!!!He just stands there and stares at me observing my frustration. My hubby tells him to cancel the entire order and we are leaving. He leaves and I wait for the manager to bring me the bill for our drinks. The first manager approaches me and apologises and says he will send me the drinks bill. 5 Mins later another manager approaches me and apologises for the bad service. He tells me about beef shortages etc etc. He acknowledges that the waiter should have informed me about the shortages from the start. He then tell me they have 500g T-bone only and can offer me that at the price of 350g (R20 difference) I wish the waiter had told me this. Anyway my girls convince me to take it so that they can get their food as now 80mins has passed since we arrived. I agree. 20 mins later my food arrives. My hubby's food was placed in a take away box as he had stormed out. Another 10 mins later my girls burger arrives. My youngest bites into her burger and says mom I cannot eat this. Her burger is so dry and overdone that she couldn't even chew it. My eldest daughter bites into hers and pushes the plate away. Same result. (When kids who not fussy refuse ti eat it, you can imagine how bad it is)STRIKE 3.<br/>I call the waiter and her just shakes his head and agrees it is unacceptable and removes the plates. I request a take away for my steak and the bill. Because now after 2 hours I have been bashed by this branch too many times. My kids did not even get to eat!!!! <br/>Another manager brings me a takeout box. Not a word was said. I get the bill and pay for the 2 steak meals that nobody touched and the ice tea and garlic rolls my kids snacked on while this Spur took me for an absolute fool. I paid and left. A manager ran after me as I left to get my details. But not a single apology from her.<br/>I have never experienced something like this before. Where was the notice on the front door to warn patrons that not all dishes on the menu would be available to due to Beef shortages?<br/>I am extremely disappointed as there are so few halaal Spurs and then to receive such horrible service from 1 of the few we can actually go to.<br/>This branch needs to seriously up their game and their staff and management need further training. <br/>Note to this Spur: do not train new staff on your busiest days. It does not benefit your customers at all. <br/>This was another flop on Sat!<br/>

Aaah man !! We were SO hungry and on iur way home decided we had a need for spur. What is also a plus, is the quick service. It was thursday 20% off steak special and something went wrong. :( we waited really long but we could see our waiter Xolola stressing at the kitchen. Eventually the senior manager came to us and offered a solution, our steaks on a skillet. It was worth the wait because the steaks were wow. Medium rare at its best and very happy with the service from Xolola

my family loves this place don;t know why saying that its not expensive but it is especially with the service and the food you are getting. the service is super slow and they can never get my meat right. i once ordered nachos with tiyaarah and the hard shell of the avo was still in the plate after she had bitten into it, all that was given was an apology from a waiter that looked way too young to be even working.

The nachos, although good was missing something. Their burgers, were really dry and overcooked. It's usually much better. This evening was disappointing but as I said it's USUALLY better

Why me? Why me? Everytime? Well for the last 3 times iv come to his clarmont Spur iv been disappointed with my meal to take home, because everyone has already eaten leaving me waiting. Food is never the same. DISSAPAOIANTED.... eeeeer sitting here watching my husband eat. So annoyed...

A friend of mine won a spur Voucher at some race and so a few of us went with for a dinner. <br/><br/>I ordered a burger with mushroom sauce and it was very good. One of my guilty pleasures is definitely Spur's onion rings.. <br/><br/>The Spur decor and ambience is not particularly to my taste, but the service was great. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, although we did have to wait a while for the bill... Something I am getting use to in Cape Town.. But overall a very pleasant evening.<br/><br/>

I can't believe I'm actually saying this. I actually enjoyed an experience at a Spur restaurant. There I said it!<br/><br/>From the service, (thank you Bash) to the breakfast with an extra serving of chicken livers- really good. And bottomless filter coffee always a winner. Really think more places should offer bottomless coffee...probably not I digress as the mark-up on coffee is so huge. Where was I...oh yes, lovely experience at this Spur.

We ordered nachos as a late night snack through mr delivery and found them to be surprisingly good, nachos are a difficult thing to package and has to be eaten fresh. However I was impressed with the speedy service, how well the food was presented and it was overall really yummy, tasty dips and cheese oosing over crispy chips, just what we were feeling for!

I ordered a cheddar melt burger with creamy mushroom sauce and I waited over a hour for my order. The waiter seemed miserable which me feel unpleasant. This is one bad experience out of many good ones.

I had steak and wings and I actually really enjoyed it I do enjoy spicy food so I added Tabasco. I eat medium rare steak and they actually got it right will be returning to this spur

Spur is our usual place to have get togethers. Whether it be birthdays, celebrations or my parents taking me out to have "A TALK" its somewhere you can go and you have assurance it wont be disappointing. So how rude would it not be if I didn't put Spur on my blog.<br/><br/>Now while I still maintain that The Spur in Claremont is the best I would have to say that Ottery is in the same rank as well (But only because of Yusuf)Hint hint...<br/>There aren't many halal Spurs though. Its Vangate, Claremont, Ottery, and Observatory. (Please correct me if I have forgotten one).<br/><br/>So here goes:<br/><br/>The Nachos I could compare to LaPlaya at the VnA. Its actually really hard choosing between the two as both are equally delish!<br/><br/>Because Garlic Rolls And buffalo wings are part of starters. Duh!<br/>  <br/>Ok so when I walk into Spur I have a usual order. Seriously its so solid people order for me without even asking me. A Surf and turf (Well done) and a Coffee shake...Although I have been cutting down on the shakes lately. So here comes the fun part. Did you know you could change your meal for a healthier alternative? No? me neither!<br/><br/>Why not swop your fries for a salad? I Swear its really good! But it gets better...<br/><br/>Why not swop your Fries and Onion rings for a hearty portion of vegetables (Thats actually not bad at all)!<br/>So many options...Nooooo!<br/><br/>Also Do take advantage of the Monday Buy one get one free Burger special.<br/>And Dont forget to take your kids to the play pen and get your face painted. Hi I have been at Rodeo Spur Claremont yesterday with my family.<br/>We spent R1050.00 on food that was not well cooked sparsely basted, and overdone wors on the mixed grill platter the sunny side up egg was over cooked it was just a waste of money, i would definitely not go back.<br/><br/>My sisters chicken wings on the steak and chicken platter tasted off, we did not complain to the waiter as my husband did not want us to put him under strain as he had his hands full.<br/><br/>Not a happy customer.
