Review De Kelder - Clanwilliam

An excellent dining experience, good service, wonderful atmosphere and the pizzas are just sumptuously yummy. Lets just say they were not shy with the toppings!

Pleasant dinner in this casual restaurant above the Caltex garage. Restaurant is upstairs There is a lift. Ordered a rump steak with salad and a feta and avo burger with salad. Both tasty. Salad fresh and crunchy. Enjoyed the local Klaver wines we ordered. Seating was in the open area. If the night is cold need to dress warmly. Great views of the mountains.

It was only place in town that night and because it's over a petrol station we were very apprehensive. But the staff were welcoming and the place was clean so we went with it. There are actually great views out to the mountains so that was a bonus we hadn't expected. Pleased to say the food and drink were really good, we both had pizza. The only downside for us was the 4, yes 4 TVs all showing a replay of a rugby match. I like sport but!!

The pizza has an amazing crispy base and alot of topping that taste good the steak is always cooked right and the burger and chips are outstandingly amazing . I definitely recommend this place there is also a side with TVs for sportdays . It deserves 5 stars all the way .✨👌

This is a nice, local pub and restaurant. They have a reasonable menu with good options. I had a chicken run pizza, and it was good, but not fantastic. It is also a little pricey in comparison with similar pizzas in Cape Town that do have better flavour.

Centrally located in Clanwilliam. Spacious and cool in summer. Menu is great. Service is great. Food is great. Big screen TV's for sporting events.

Great food with stunning views and atmosphere. The go to restaurant for friends and family in the area. Enjoy a pizza, burger, steak or anything you like with your favourite drink. The menu covers everything for everyone.

WOW WOW whilst road tripping SA we came across De Kelder restaurant, and is the food glorious WOW, with very friendly staff and such a gorgeous view

Ordered Miss Piggy flavoured pizza with Berry Blossom and I liked it so much. The service was also good considering how busy it was there.

It’s easy to miss the entrance to De Kelder, which is sandwiched between KFC and the Caltex convenience store in Clanwilliam. But once you get upstairs there is a great vibe. It seems to be more of a drinking kind of place on a Saturday afternoon, and even more so when there’s a big game of rugby on. In fact the kitchen only opens at 6pm, although you can order a pizza at any time. That seems a bit strange, in the days when Clanwilliam was a “one horse town” it might have made sense, but it’s far from that now. I really couldn’t fault the food, my rump steak was done exactly medium rare and was delicious. The service was a bit slow, had to work hard to attract the waiter’s attention, but maybe she was still learning. A great view of the mountains from the restaurant, and good food. Now if ONLY they were open for lunch.

So pleased that Velskoendraai turned us away for lunch, even though they only had two R tables they were currently serving. We ended up being referred by the to De Kelder. Stunning views, great service and the best calamari and Hake I have had in a long time.
